in that game, the Hawks defeated the Pacersen. Of course, listen,
Pascal Siakam. He let the Pacers with thirty five points,

(05:46):
showing their strong offensive output. Now for our atl Hawks,
Trey Young was available despite his right Achilles ten dys.
He scored twenty two points and sixteen assists. Now his
sixteen assists performance, this marked his NBA leading fourteen games
this season, of course, forty first career with a fifteen
plus assists. Since entering the league in twenty eighteen twenty

(06:09):
nineteen season, now youngk has recorded forty one such games,
ten more than the next closest player, which was Russell
Westbrook with thirty one. He also became the first Eastern
Conference player this season and the only the second in
the NBA to Kola Djoko Djokovic two records, sixteen assists

(06:30):
with one or a few were turnovers. Now, of course
Durga's name. He stepped up off the bench to lead
the all reserves with twenty four points. On Yaka, he
delivered a stellar performance, finishing with twenty points. Now, look, guys,
the win. They snapped their little street with the Pacers.

(06:51):
You know, they had won five straight regular season games
against the host dating back to twenty twenty three. Now
the Hall State capitalized on home Kore and the Pacers
misstars to secure the victory. But listen tonight's game. It's
gonna mark a quick rematch and it will be interesting
to see if the Pacers adjust with potentially different players

(07:12):
available or if the Hawks can maintain their momentum from
Thursdays win. Either way, I will be there in the building.
Make sure you support our atl hosts. Let's go Hawks.

however the third and fourth sets the Thrill came back
to tie the match too and two, and of course
Vibe fought back hard to win the fifth set fifteen

(07:47):
to thirteen, secure and their scepth win of the season.
The most notable. You know, both Atlanta Vibe outside hitters
Lea Edma and Phim and Timmer dominated the charts, combining
for thirty nine kills while hitting point two forty and
point four nineteen respectfully. Now middle blocker Carrie Lewis leads

(08:08):
the PBF and kill percentage with point four ninety two
and efficiency of point three ninety seven. With last night's performance,
now look guys, Libbitou. Morgan Hines collected eighteen dicks in
the match, continuing to lead the league in dicks per set.

(08:29):
Our Vie their scheduled to play again tomorrow, Sunday, March

(08:49):
like an Atlanta VI party. So make sure you're in
the building now, guys, come on, now, let's let's go backwards.
Let's go back to the city. Okay, Atlanta United, the
five strikes, Yes, Atlanta United. Of course, they are just
killing it in our home town of Atlanta. I'm loving
our Atlanta vibe of course. This season. February twenty six,

(09:14):
twenty second, there was their home opener against CF Montreal
at Mercedes Spins. At marked a fresh start under the
new head coach Running Dallat And who of course aims
to implement some possessions based on four and two and
three in one formation with an aggressive presence down now.
The team has invested heavily reportedly now reportedly forty million

(09:38):
on some three new designated players in recent transfer windows,
adding significant top out in talent. Now, of course, you
know this team, this Atlanta United team is something special.
All I can tell you is home opener on February

(09:59):
twenty second at wit muscour He scored a late game winner,
while Latte lot Nettie a pair of goals in his
club debut at as Atlanta United. They defeated CF My
Tree all three and two, and of course the MLS
season opener, the crowd was insane. Sixty five danced pat

(10:22):
the Benz, the third largest crowd in the world of soccer.
Now look this weekend, this weekend, we are looking for
another win. Okay, Now look, I'm all in. You know,
the team strengths lies in their high caliber signings and
of course you know, we do have some questions about
you know, some health issues, the death, the chemistry. But overall,

(10:47):
with a deep roster including these players, you know, I
know that we are going to come out strong Atlanta.
They're going to aim to compete for trophies. Okay, after
the drought of twenty nineteen, we're gonna get some trophies.
Here we're in the building. I'm loving Atlanta United. I've
always been so local. There's no fan base like our

(11:09):
Atlanta United five Stripe Warriors. When I tell you guys, look,
make sure you are in the building tonight to see
our team face off and it's going down. Look, I
am so excited. I can't wait. I tell you all
the time, our Atlanta United team is freaking amazing today

is going down March eighth, New York Red Bulls. They
will be in the building, so make sure you check
it out. Kick off the schedule for seven point thirty,
and of course you know we have two more home
game steps schedule. I believe that, well, actually one worst
home game schedule after tonight, March sixteen, enter Miami CU.
Make sure you're in the building for that. That's gonna

(11:53):
be on March sixteen. Of course, March twenty second is
gonna be away game for Nashville and they're gonna be
back home April to fifth two face off against Toronto FC,
So make sure you're in the building. Ler Atlanta United,
this is an early season, but we got to focus
and leverage their talent to establish consistency, and it's going
to start with, of course, the Red Bulls clash tonight.

(12:15):
Make sure you're rooting for our five stripes. Let's go

her from as far as an amazing time to be
a w A fan. Okay, but you know what, I

(13:42):
wanted to just chat with you just just a little
bit about former NFL quarterback Eli Manning. And of course
he's added another unexpected win to his career, Yes he did.
Now this time is coming from mini basketball court and
on the latest episode of his show, Eli Manning, he
faced off against Indiana Fever, the one the only WNBA

(14:04):
rising star, Kaitlin Clark, and they had to tell a
miniature basketball game. Now Manning dominated the contest, cruising to
a seventy six fifty one victory over Clark. Now he
has said, I've done a lot of games on this
show with guests, I've never beat anyone before. End quote.

(14:27):
Now listen, Clark, know for her record breaking college basketball
career at the University of Iowa and now as one
of WNBA's most promising Ricky's couldn't help but to laugh
after the loss. You know, look, guy, it's all in fun.
Love and love and love it loving when the two
come together, from the NFL to the W is all

(14:47):
love all the way around. You know, kudos to uh yeah,
Eli for winning that miniature basketball game. But I want
to see something more. Can we get a full throttle
game on a basketball court? I would that would be
more interesting to see as well. But you know what,
I'm just Carrio Thomas petionis to just reporting for you

(15:07):
guys who are mine. But I'm just saying, I'm just
saying we want to see more. Okay, Now, moving right
along to the net story, Now, look, I want to
say I love seeing the ladies of the w you know,
not only just give that to the community, but just
thrive in other aspects of their career. Right, So I'm

(15:31):
talking about you know WNBA former WNBA player, you know,
she's back to WNBA player Tammy fack Bent Lee bnl
A rather returns to the WNBA and takes on Hollywood
and just an exciting duel of career moves. Now listen,
after a five year Hyota hiatus from WNBA, fact been

(15:53):
lea recent season with the Indiana Fever showcased the skills
that once made her a standout on Now with this
expansion draft team, the Golden State Valkyries, they've added a
player with just you know, both experience and versatility to
their roster. But here's another move. You know, fac Malay

(16:14):
is banking on her proven abilities to not only just
impact the game on both ends of the floor, but
also moving on to Hollywood. Yes, she is scheduled to
be in a movie. Yes she is. Now this movie
it is called Children of the Blood and Bone. Children
of Blood and Bone. She is going to be joining

(16:37):
a list Hollywood heavyweights, Light Nipsen, Eltress Viola Davis, I'm
Cynthia Veryvo and of course interest Elba. I love it,
I love it. This release is going to be scheduled
for January twenty twenty seven, and it's already generating massive anticipation,

(16:57):
so definitely, look, I'm loving it. I'm big on this
is the day. You know, women empowerment, we are loving it.
This is our day, ladies. You know, stand up, we're
representing and I'm loving, loving, loving, just the empowerment all
the way around. You know, again, there's always different avenues

(17:19):
you can take in your career. Again, this is just
an inspirational story. Don't just stick with one thing. If
you feel like you could do something else, do it.
What's who gonna stop you? Boot nobody, nobody but yourself.
So go for it. Aim for the stars. And that
is my WNBA news for the week. Coming up after

(17:41):
rate is my smh OMG moment. Stay tuned because we'll
be bad. Have you been injured in a car accident
or a slip and fall. Have you found yourself at
us with the insurance company and unsure where to turn

(18:03):
Scott maximize the value of your personal injury claim by

focus on healing catastrophic personal injury, premise and personal liability
serious auto track and commercial vehicle cases. Call us today
that scoreal four sixty seven one nine one seven two
personal injury trial or your little money, Scott, We're serious

(18:24):
about fighting for you. That's for four sixty seven one

Speaker 2 (18:39):
My god, Oh no she didn't.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
Oh no she didn't. Oh oh no, this is for journey. Okay, okay, okay,
sphere's the lovelies. I asked mat oj Mama is a
honnesson listen? This is a dizzy mm, very big one.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
Now, doing you know there was a situation on the courts, Yes,
it was so. Friday Morning, an episode of First Ta,
ESPN analyst Stephen A addressed his new viral court sided
stage with NBA superstar Lebron James doing the Lakers thrilling
one thirteen one O nine overtime victory over New York

(19:27):
Nicks on Thursday night at Crypto Arena Crypto dot Com Arena.
That is, but listen. The heading moment, described by Smith
as unexpected confrontation, quickly captured wide spread attention on social
media after James was seen approaching Smith during a break
in play. According to Smith, the interaction is centered around

(19:48):
comments he previously made about James's eldest son, twenty year
old Lakers Recky Brownie. James. Don't look look I'm a parent,
and you know I'm just going to, you know, go
road right here. I've kind of read what Ryan James
King Brown said and he was like, keep Bronnie, James,

(20:11):
aren't your mouth thought Ry. I was like, okay, okay,
I see, I see. But here's the thing, Spirtbob experience.
We are are beast about our kids. Moms, no doubt,
undoubtedly are very much so angry bears about their little cubs. Okay,

(20:35):
whatever you do, don't mess with my babies. Okay, I've
always said this. I've always liked Look Missy Krrie, you know,
the sports niece, the that girl Carrie, whatever, whoever you
think I am. But if you really want to know
who I am, try messing with my children. Okay, You're

(20:55):
gonna see somebody you've never ever ever seen before, and
it won't be so pretty. But that's just what it is, right,
that's my babies. Don't mess with my children. Don't do that,
because we don't do that at all in the period.
But I definitely understand, you know, I remember it was
just a chant. Okay. At the Atlanta Has, you know,

(21:15):
the six Men section, they do these crazy, insane chants.
Some are funny, some are like, well, what'd you say?
But either way, it's all in good fun. It's all
in good competition, right, that's what they did, you know,
try to get the pony rowed up, try to get
the pony from not making those three point shots, you know, whatever,
your free throws. So here's the thing. There was this

(21:39):
particular chant. I can't remember verbating what was said, but
it was something about running or whatever. And our one
of my colleagues were like, oh no, that was that
was dad wrong. They should have not did that. You know,
come on, now, that's that's that man's kid. Don't do that,
because I'm gonna tell you this. If you don't want
market I'm like, yeah, you're right, you're right. So there

(21:59):
is a line. But here's the thing about that as well.
You know, when you're a sports reporter, you do the
report or ine sports, whether it's good or bad. Now
Here at chickens in sports, this is a safe place, Okay,
we formal late a safe space for anyone to come
in and chat it up with us. Look, we don't
do that. We don't, you know, thrive in negativity. We

(22:23):
don't put anything out there, like, you know, something that
I would not want to be put out there on
my for me period.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
You know.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Look, I always love to have a safe place, and
this is where we're at. But I get it. I
also understand. I see where both sides, you know, and
I also feel like this too. You know, Lebron was
not you know, in the wrong of protecting his son.
But at the same time, you know, to be in

(22:52):
that business, you're gonna have people say things that you're
not gonna like. It's part of the business. It's a
part of the beasts that we call sports. Right. Ultimately,
do I think they will probably, you know, nip this
in the butt and move on. I probably think so.

(23:13):
I think so. I think, you know, overall, you know,
he said what he said. You know, perhaps Stephen A
will take a chapter out of that book. I don't
know if he'll do it immediately. But again, you know,
Smith described it again as unexpected confrontation. You know. Of course,

(23:33):
this whole scenario and this whole situation went viral on
social media. Again stephen A. You know, he goes on
to say that Lebron James coming up to me unexpectedly,
I might act confront me about making sure I mind
what I say about his son, you know, And he

(23:56):
explained it on first tape, and he emphasized that was
a father coming to me to speak to me, not
a twenty one time NBA All Star. That was a
man speaking to me about his son. And now you
have it, okay, So respectfully, he understood that assignment. He

(24:16):
understood it clearly, and hopefully he understands it and he
gets it. I'm not sure, you know, he'll continue to
talk about it. You know, I think it's best to
just how you said it, let it go, move on
to the next period because again, you know, and it depends.
It depends on their relationship. You know. How how cool

(24:37):
is stephen A with lebarn You know what I mean,
It's just so many factors in place. But either way,
I think, respectfully he understood that again that was a
man speaking to him about his son. So either way,
you know, let me know your thoughts on social media.
I know how I feel. I know like, don't come
for my babies. I don't care where you act when
you are, I'm coming for you. You don't have to sit

(25:02):
in for me because the sports nista, oh no, no more,
it's called Kirie Kiri. It's coming for you, So be ready.
Don't come for my babies. And that is my SMH
on G moment for the week. Be sure to check
out Hits at the sports dot Com for further sports news.
Follow us on the Facebook, Twitter or that's or whatever

(25:23):
they're calling it these days, and hit us up on
the ground. And if you're listening on iHeartRadio or Spotify,
be sure to give us five stars. However, wherever you
do it, let us know your thoughts on social media.
Coming up after the ring is my special guest. Stay tuned,
will be bad. My next guest is visionary real estate

(25:48):
and franchise developer who purchases First Ben and Jerry's franchise
during his senior year at Carolina. He co owns franchises
in Florida, the A, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. Sports levelies.
Please welcome Antonio macgrew Too Chicks in a sport Tonyo.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Welcome to Chicks in the Sports listened.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
This entrepreneurial journey and business success is just amazing for you.
You have a lot to talk about, but I want
to ask you the first question of the day. What
inspired your entrepreneurial journey and how did you, you know,
just get us started.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Yeah, my inspiration to be an entrepreneur started at an
early age with my family. You know, I was raised
by my mother, my godmother, and my memo. And between
those three ladies, they poured so much into me growing
up that as I became a man, I wanted to
be able to return.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
It back to them and make their lives better.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
So just seeing the challenges my mom had as a
single mother who was a teacher, and my me ma
had as not only having an eighth grade education, and
you know, I spent most of my time living with her,
and we lived in a house that you know, didn't
have running water and we used a wood heater for
a stove, And you know, I was just always driven

(27:07):
to create a way and find a way to improve
my family's reality. And so seeing the ways that they
themselves were entrepreneurs, whether it was my mom as a
teacher tutoring folks, or you know my mema using her
gift of cooking to host people over. It just it
really inspired me to take the family leadership. And so
when I went to college at UNC Chapel Hill, I

(27:29):
needed a job just so I could help out at home,
and I started scooping ice cream at the Ben and
Jerry's shop. But not only did I kind of get
this college job to scoop ice cream, I actually scooped
my way into a career because the brand I was
working with aligned with my personal value so much, so
much so that I ended up buying the shop that
I started working at as a freshman.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
I bought it two days before I graduated as a senior.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Wow, that is so amazing. That is so awesome. But again,
that's almost like, you know, a Cinderella story. But could
you just kind of give us some of the biggest
challenges that you may have face just trying to grow
a business, and just how did you overcome it?

Speaker 3 (28:11):
You know, I talk about this a good deal in
my book, The Selfish Servant, and I'm excited to share
that insight with the world. But the biggest challenge I
faced was myself believe it or not. It was these
limiting beliefs I had of I'm not good enough or
I'm not capable of doing that because of where I
came from. And once I got over that and I

(28:34):
was able to learn how to actually dream big and
have vision, that was eighty percent of the challenge I faced.
Once I started being able to really create a vision
and start to shoot for the moon, as they say,
you still end up with the stars. That was the
principle that I applied to all of my business endeavors.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
Oh my gosh, that is so amazing.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
But you know what you did hint on it the
book the Selfless Survey that talk about just the core
message of your actual book.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
Yeah, it's this unique principle of the selfish servant. And
folks often say, wow, how can leaders talk about being selfish?
I'm not talking about the selfish that we all probably
learned as toddlers, you know some of the sometimes kids'
first word is minds.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
I'm talking about an.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
Elevated selfish selfish, being self aware and self confident with
a plan for self improvement. And as you do that,
you show up as your best self so you can
live a life of service to others.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
Oh my gosh, but can you tell me too, Just
talk about just some of the key lessons and some
of the takeaways you hope the readers will gain.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
What I hope the readers of my book will gain
is this unique perspective that I bring in the form
of a memoir and also business book, where I'm telling
key stories of my journey and connecting it directly to
business principles and the core principles of the selfish servant
and the journey of what I called CEO life, not

(30:11):
the job title CEO, but creating extra ordinary life. It
boils down to these seven key principles, and each one
has their own chapters. As a matter of fact, some
of them have two chapters. So the main three principles
of tenacity, self awareness, and passion, those are so strong
that they I got double chapters on those. But we

(30:33):
also get into the importance of focus of what I
call boss time of communic keys. So it's taking this
play on communication and giving you what I see is
the communic.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
Keys to leadership and success.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
And finally, closing the book, we talk about the importance
of gratitude and appreciation.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Wow, I love that.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
I love it now, you know what gratitude and appreciation,
I just kind of want to piggyback off that, And
it's sometimes a coincides with just giving back, you know,
leadership and community impact. Can you speak on just being
a philanthropist, you know, your mentorship and just giving back?
And why is that so important to you?

Speaker 3 (31:16):
That's so important to me because it's at the core
of who I am. I was raised in the Christian faith,
in the church, and those those values are so deeply
instilled in me. Whether it's in business, whether I'm speaking
to someone for the first time, I have to share
and give back. And so from there I've seen just

(31:36):
the importance of mentorship. My mom, as I mentioned, was
a teacher, and so with that, I felt like I
had a calling on my life to be a teacher.
At the same time, I knew that I had the
responsibility to radically change my family's financial trajectory.

Speaker 4 (31:52):
So I chose to use.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
My business and now our book and coaching and keynote
speaking as my classroom now to be able to mentor
and give back. It means so much those you know,
and the cool thing I love about mentoring. I was
mentored a lot by folks who were wiser, who had
been through things that I was yet to go through,
and I learned from their successes, and I was also

(32:14):
able to learn from their failures, so I didn't have
to do the same things. And so now that I
have what I call a tribe of mentees, you know,
folks who I connect with every month and pour into
and help understand where they're at, what I'm finding as
the mentor some is I actually get more energy and
more reward by.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
Mentoring them than they do for me. Probably. So that's
the really cool thing about mentorship, you know what.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
I know, you kind of just briefly spoke about it,
but can you go a little bit in depth, because
I want to know how do you just stay motivated,
you know, and just keep innovating? How do you stay
motivated being a mentor?

Speaker 3 (32:52):
Well, I actually I actually get energy and drive from serving.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Others, you know.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
But the key is that I do make sure that
I spend the time on a daily, weekly, monthly, and
annual basis of being selfish. And yeah, I mean, it's
it's it's it's you know.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
Some folks feel guilty about it, but.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
There's nothing wrong with taking two minutes between meetings, just
to enjoy some.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
Fresh air, absolutely, you know, versus rushing in.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Maybe yeah, maybe you're a second, maybe you're a second
later than you would have been if you would have
rushed in, but you came.

Speaker 4 (33:29):
In refreshed and with fresh air.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
The same thing as you think about as you plan
out your weeks, what are those things that you could do,
even if you've got the busiest week that you've ever had,
What are those things that you can do to bring
you joy. One of the things that I do pretty
often is yoga. I'm an avid yoga in and I
love just spending that hour on the mat in my
brain focusing and stretching and creating space. And so those

(33:56):
are just practical things that you can do to be
selfish but also lived a life of service.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Now let's talk about future plans and projects. What's next
up for you in business and writing and also plugging
some upcoming ventures book signings that we shouldn't.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
I'm super excited about the future for my company, Primo,
as well as for me as the leader. Our company
is seventeen years old now and I often joke that
we're a teenager.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
We're still business teenagers.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
So we're just getting started, you know, the fun is
just getting gone. We've got a couple of dozen locations
ranging from DC, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, and Texas,
and I think that we're at a cool opportunity to
be able to continue to grow deeper both with Ben
and Jerry's and Starbucks, and that's really exciting. But the

(34:50):
most important part of the work we do with Primo
is our leadership development, and we've developed what's called the
Primo Culture Lab where we're pouring into our leaders at
record levels like we never have before, and we're seeing
amazing growth in the impact that they're having in the community.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
So what's happened with.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
That is is created what we call the CEO lifestyle cycle,
where now our business has amazing leaders such as Philip
Scott and my business partner and chief operating officer, who's
based in Atlanta, Georgia. Philip actually started with me when
he was in college as a marketing intern and now
he runs the whole business so much so did I
kind of get out of his way And it's freeing

(35:29):
me up now to be able to write books and
so the selfish Servant is this passion project that I
just wanted to be able to share the magic we've
created with Primo.

Speaker 4 (35:39):
I wanted to share it at scale with the world
from there.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
I'm based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, so we're gonna
be doing a major book launch there this weekend on
Friday at the Carolina Coffee Shop, and then just stay
tuned there'll be if you can tune into my website
selfish Servant dot com or me personally at Antonio McBroom
dot com and you'll see the different events and engagements
that we have. And I'm available for anyone who would

(36:06):
like to talk about ways that you could elevate your
leadership or your organization's effectiveness.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
Absolutely, I love it. I love it. It's been a pleasure
speaking with you.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
I tell you, yo, look when you come back, because
I'm gonna be sending for you and you must respun.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
Okay, absolutely anytime. Now.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
My final question to you, you know, this is a
sport show, and I want you to plug in any
teams that you're rolling with this season, or any former
teas or even any schools that you went to that
you want to plug in your teams.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
Go ahead, this. The floor is yours right now.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
Well, I'm a tar Hill born and I'm a tar
Hill bread and when I diet via tar Hill did so.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
Un C. Chapel Hill, Tar Hills. All things you and
see means the world to me.

Speaker 3 (36:53):
There's a special player on you and See Seth Trumbull,
who I'm excited. He works with Primo and is an
amazing leader and cultural icon and the making. And I've
just enjoyed seeing his journey from the time that he
came to Chapel Hill. So big time U n C.
March Madness is my favorite time of the year. Matter
of fact, we're in Charlotte all next week for the

(37:13):
ACENC Tournament. I'm gonna be doing doing a book sign
the next Friday at our ben and Jerry's at Foxcroft
and Charlotte, and it is March Madness.

Speaker 4 (37:21):
So you're talking my language with the sports.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Let's say that, Tonio, before March is over, I'm gonna
bring you back so we can talk all about March Madness.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
How about that.

Speaker 4 (37:32):
Let's do it. I'm ready.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Also, Antonio, one more time. Plugging your social media outlets.

Speaker 3 (37:39):

that call is a comment.
