How are you? The weekend is upon us, and look, guys,
we have so much to talk about. And let me
tell you something. To let me tell you something, come here,
pull up a cheer, let's talk about it. Oh my goodness,
(01:17):
what a week it has been. I've been doing quite
a few things out there in these streets. Yeah, but
you know what, I can't wait to chat and tell
you all about it. Look, we have a special guest
that's coming up after the break. But let me tell yourself.
I'll just want you to, you know, just be encourage
cause your girl, you Carrie Doamas the self proclaimed spirts Next. Yes,
(01:41):
this check here has been taking quite a few yeurs.
I'm not gonna even lie to you. I'm talking about
in life, Okay, listen. I want it to be very
transparent because you know, things happen every day. It's been
a challenge for me, whether it was my health, whether
it's my significant other. Hell, whether it was just crazy
(02:02):
unexpected events to transpire in my life. And when I
tell you, I'm sitting here like bruh, one more day,
one mouth dy. But I had to take a minute
and think about it, right, because I am the just
(02:23):
prime optimist right. Look, I'm the most optimistic person you
ever want to meet. I can see things. Whether you know,
some people say, oh, the glass is half full, I'm
like no, no, no, or it's half empty, or however
you want to look at it. I can see the
brighter side of things. You know, if it's half full,
it's great, we'll work on it. You know. It's the
water in there. If it's half empty, even perfect, we
(02:46):
can just pour some more water in it, you know
what I mean. So I always look at things a
little bit different, and you know, most people that think
like me can kind of understand the mindset that goes
into being the person that you are. But I will
always say, look, guys, life can be very hot, it
can be very hard, indeed, but most importantly, I'm thankful
(03:09):
for every blessing that I have. Right so I'm still able,
you know, to go out and talk and do sports
and cover sports, which has been my ultimate goal from
the beginning of time, or at least the time that
Chicks and the Sports was created. But I am so
very thankful for every lead that has allowed this crazy
(03:29):
chick to come through and I set their team and
talk about it and post it on our platform. It's
been an amazing, amazing journey, and I'm definitely looking forward
to the future. But that is my right time. But
we'll say, in life, sometimes you know, you work through
these things and it comes obstacles. You know, not going
(03:50):
to dig too deep because we want to keep everything
on a high note. Right. Look, whatever you're going through,
however you're going through, it, just keep going through. There
is a light at the end of the tunnel. I
honestly feel like, look, when it rains, it's definitely storms.
But always said rain comes for a purpose, right, rain
(04:13):
and storms, we must have it. We must have it
to grow to strengthen us. So when I tell you
when this rain storms start, baby, okay, this girl is
gonna be out of here, I'm like, yes, you did
what you did? What? But so look I said this
to say, guys, keep your hat up. It's gonna get better.
(04:34):
Just riding on through your girl is whoever's going through
some crazy challenges right now, I'm riding with you. I'm
with you. We here, we end this. We were built
for this, So let's do this. And you know what's
forst lovelies. I love you guys so very much. And look,
everyone that's continuing to listen to our podcast, support us

and hit us up on the gram and let us
know your thoughts on social media. Now, you know what,

learn fundamental football skills and drills directly from professionals, gaining
valuable insights into the game, and of course, of course,

Just how it feels just to be a part of
just the Falcon's legacy, dirty bird. This is where it
all started.
Speaker 4 (09:22):

Speaker 2 (09:23):
So with the Falcon organization, it's second to none, and
it starts at the top, right with mister Blank and
just he always wanted to pour into people.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
That's what it is.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
It's pouring into people, making a positive difference. And even
now I'm now pol telling my age twenty years later,
still still living life the same way.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Oh my goodness. So again, I would just want to
emphasize just it works, giving back to the community. What
does it mean to you just giving.

Back to the Yeah, you know, giving back. I was
always taught, raised, when I was raised, I was always taught.

March women Empowerment money is coming to a you know,

uplift my women in sport now. W aba legend. Lisa Leslie,
(22:20):
She done gave some kudos to Caitlyn Clark and give
it just her flowers, right, Lisa Leslie. She was a
guest on the US Today's Sports Seriously and had plenty
of praise for Caitlyn and beyond just what she has
done bringing more eyes to sports now. Of course, in
the discussion, she spoke about just watching a fever star
on a cord and she said, and quote, I just
(22:42):
appreciate the way she shows up. She's a competitor, she's
a trashtocker, she makes players around her better. She's deciding
to watch. Lisa also added, quite frankly, I miss seeing her,
which is sure to be you know, relatable to hoops
around everywhere who are support of Kaitlyn Cark. Now, look,
(23:02):
I again, empowerment from a legend. To hear all of
that niceness and just look, it just brings warmth to
my heart to hear, you know, the legends given shout
outs to the younger ones and to the ones that
are you know, the newer generation or the new era
of basketball for the w Now. Also Cheryl Swoops, you know,
(23:26):
has said some things too. Now, four time WNBA champion
legend had been widely labeled as a I guess you
would say Kaitlyn Clark cater. But you know, well, look,
here's the thing. Sometimes, when you reach a certain level,
you do you can have opinions, right, that's everyone has them.
(23:47):
There's nothing wrong with that. You know, everyone is entitled
to their opinions. And I love Cheryl Swoops and I'm
loving what she's saying right now because right now she
has said that the twenty three year all. You know,
you can tell how much stronger Caitlin got off season.
You know she was in the gym working on her game.

look it's going too Yes. Women's basketball star Now, look, guys,
you will see women's basketball. It's just lighting up the
sweet sustein for the second season in a row. And
while you know they're gonna be missing superstar Juji Watkins,
(26:54):
who suffered a season ending knee injury during their second
round win over in Mississippi State. Team spirit remains undamned.
Now despite the set back, which calls for Juju to
get surgery and of course, a lengthy rehab, the Trojans
are rallying together with optimism inspired by, you know, just
the legacy of their standout sophomore Nasabath National Player of
(27:17):
the Year finalists Juju. Now, Juji, you know, look, I'm
watching you, girl, I'm seeing I'm seeing you. I wish
you heard. You know, nothing but a speedy recovery. Hopefully,
you know, everything will work out and she'll be back
on a court sooner than later. But here's the thing.
There's been a lot of chetter chatter all around, you know,
(27:40):
but in Tonet NFL offensive Rookie of the Year Jaden
Dariels you know him, was seen at a second tournament
game in two months where Eric smells and giggles in
the stand. Yes. Now, the playful moment took a amusing
turn when Dan gets Mama Mama Daniels Regina. She stepped
(28:06):
in and positioned herself between the two, prompting many to
speculate that Mama is to protect her son's coins by
eliminating any outside of us, and that would be women. Now, Daniels,
he summed it up well when he told board Room
in December. Nothing gets past my mama. She reads people.
(28:26):
She doesn't want to put people around me that she
doesn't feel will benefit me. Now, listen, guys, here's the
thing about that. Here's the thing because a lot of
people had a lot of things to say during you know,
the whole Juju getting injured and of course this coming
out and we're seeing it. You know, it's like a
double ammy. To say the least, Jiuju will have coins
(28:46):
of her own as well. K and I could see
that she may not need mister Daniels coins, Kirk, I don't. Yeah,
So look calm down everyone. You know, everyone's like, oh, yeah,
we see Mama intercede it go Mama put her back
(29:09):
in her place. And I understand as a mama bear myself,
you know, I try to keep those temptress away from
my boys. Get away, shoot shoot, go away. But I
also understand too. You look, Juju has a bright career
ahead of her as well. You know, we're wishing her
good good vibes all the way to round. We wish
(29:31):
her speedy recovery. Hopefully, you know, she'll get back on
the court soon. And of course, look, I ain't hating.
I understand where mama coming from. But Mama, come on now, juju,
she she's a bad mama. Jama to you now, don't
do not discard her and think it's all about you know,
she won't my baby's cards because she gonna get it too.
She don't get it. Watch what I say, Watch what
(29:54):
I say now. Look, guys, one thing is for sure
the they are both Prout and Nike athletes hailing from
southern California mm hm, Daniels from sam Bordino and Watts
Wrikings from the Watts. So yeah, they got some commonality,
you know, and coins would be that as well. So
(30:16):
future coins coming their way, current coins adding up in
the bank. That is my smh OMG moment for the week.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
That's SPOROBO sixty seven to one nine one seven two
Personal injury trial. Ay your little money, Scott, We're serious
about fighting for you. That's sporeal for six seven one
nine one sevent. Welcome back, Welcome back. My next guess
is the CEO and founder of missale House Sports Lovelyes.
(31:47):
Please welcome E do new to worry to Chicks in
the sport? Welcome, Welcome, Welcome to Chicks in the Sports.
I am definitely excited to be to you, but I
just want to speak to you just about just your
career you began as a therapist specializing in solution and
(32:07):
focused approach, and just how did your background influence your
transition to brand strategy and of course image consulting.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
Yes, well where do I start?
Speaker 2 (32:18):
So?
Speaker 4 (32:19):
Yeah, background was in the mental health field. I've always
believe believed in just growing up finding solutions to problems
as instead of dwelling on them, and it kind of worked,
especially working with adolescents, which was my primary demographic, right.
(32:42):
And then in the jewelry line, I realized, and you know,
I'll be very transparent. I'm not much of a salesperson,
but what I do understand is human behavior in the
human psychology. So I would ask myself as a consumer,
what am I looking for as this particular type of
consumer and a specific demographic which one person can fit
(33:05):
into multiple What am I looking for in that aspect?
And that's just kind of what's worked.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Oh my gosh, you know what you are such a multitasker.
And I say that, you know, I'm looking at you
just having all of these balancing at your a mom,
you know, your mental health advocate, and of course the entrepreneur,
and of course all of this requires resilience, right, So
how do you just manage these responsibilities and what advice
(33:34):
do you have for others just trying to balance that
same at.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
To be honest, I'm not sure if I actually manage them.
I ended up drowning myself in so many ways by
doing all of that and not asking for help, in fact,
feeling guilty if I needed help. And I'm in twenty
(34:01):
twenty two. I just kind of crashed and shut down everything.
I mean, I was fortunate enough to be in retail stores,
but I personally was not operational. And when I say that,
I mean I couldn't even take my kids to school.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Wow. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
And so I share this because, for one, I need
people to understand that don't have imposter syndrome. Because I
did a very good job in social media, not even
like intentionally, but giving the wrong impression of what things
(34:39):
were like. And I just crashed. My body crashed. I
got an autoimmune disease and it was stress induced. So
the advice I would give is pace yourself, get rid
of that imposter syndrome. Stop comparing yourself to the next person,
(35:00):
because you actually have no idea what they're going through.
And as I tell told my daughter yesterday, who balled
her eyes out, because in a gymnastis competition. The only
person you can compare yourself to is yourself and the
progress that you make. And her father said, you have
a goal. Are you still on track to that goal?
(35:22):
And she said yes, And he said, well then let's
keep it moving. And that's just honestly the best advice
I can give right.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
Now, absolutely absolutely, And life is a journey. You're living,
you're learning. Every day is a journey, right. You know what,
can we speak a little bit about just your contemporary
lifestyle jury brand? Can you just talk about that and
just what inspires the name? Go ahead and post it.
Speaker 4 (35:48):
Yes, So, Missio is actually my older daughter's middle name
is beautiful, beautiful generation in Japanese, but it also translates
into my language Yureba, which is I have seen joy.
So stopped put a pause on mental health to become
(36:10):
a full time mom and got bored and said, I'm
going to start something. And I just felt like this
needs to be for the girls. Build a legacy, build
something they can be proud of, be someone they can
be proud of. And the jewelry is also something that
I see as my child and it's something that I
(36:31):
want to be proud of. So I have put so
much work and effort into providing the best quality pieces
but at attainable rates, which is why I still do
a lot of the work to cut back on the
costs and cut out the middleman, Okay, because I want
people like me who don't necessarily have disposable income to
(36:54):
still be able to wear their pieces, have the longevity,
have the beauty of it. I don't take my pieces off.
I have people who've been wearing my pieces for years.
I've going on ten years now, and that's really what
I intended on creating. And I am very, very fortunate
(37:15):
that despite everything, I am still able to provide that.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
Oh my gosh, that is so exciting and just happy
your child as an inspiration. This is such an inspiring story.
But you know what, I definitely wanted to just get
a little bit back into just your support. I know
you have, like your involvement with the Black Luxury Market
showcasing just the commitment to promoting luxury brands in the
(37:41):
black community. Can you share more about this initiative and
just some of its significant.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
Part of the fortunate, the part of the blessing I
see from taking that break was I was able to
enter incubator incubator programs and one with my Kensey, one
with Macy's and just the Village Retail and several other companies,
and I realized that one thing a lot of us
struggle with is branding and the image that we portray
(38:15):
within our brand. And so just from people asking questions,
because when you see Messiah House, I've had people reach
out to me like I'm some big jewelry brand and
it's because of the way I've been able to present
it and I the mission I have and where I'm
actually branching out into Nigeria also is when a consumer
(38:42):
sees your product, they're not supporting you because your black
owned brand is because they can't tell the difference between
let's say Stella McCartney and a Kiki Kamano as the
the the visually, the quality, just everything that the brand
(39:02):
represents is in line with the luxury market they're trying
to enter.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
I love that. I love that, but you know what,
I want to take it back a little bit to
the past and you know, give some homeworach to your
educational journey. Florida State University, remember.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
Right years it's my silver year.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
Okay, congratulations and tell me just all about how have
these experiences kind of just shape your personal and professional development.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
I was made to go to Florida State because my
mom moved to Tallahassee and my Nija mom just wanted
me around. She didn't work so far, and I think
it's probably one of the best things she ever did
Florida State. The thing about Tallahassee is it's really small,
but Florida State is a big campus. So it forced
(40:05):
me out of my shell. Like I was a very,
very shy child. I took books to birthday parties so
I wouldn't have to interact. Oh wow, yes I was.
I was awkward. Yes, I tell my kids like I
was in the French Club. I wasn't an athlete like them.
And I always volunteered with my church and the Zeta
(40:28):
Oma con trapt Zeta Omicron chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha
Suorty was hosting a Thanksgiving drive and I happened to
be volunteering, and I was like, wow, they look fabulous,
you know, and see what they're doing. I had a
conversation with one of them, but I was told, you're
never going to make it because you don't speak to
(40:50):
anyone because I was so shy, and so I was
advised to speak to at least five people before I
leave an event so they can get to know me.
And one thing about me is if you give me
an assignment, I make it my goal to complete it.
So that's what I did, and it forced me out
(41:12):
of my shell. But what it did in my business
was once again, your business is not going to be successful.
People aren't going to come to your events if you
just go to an event, smile and leave. So I
apply that to myself and said, you need to speak
to at least five people before you leave this event.
And I was able to gradually come out of my shell.
(41:37):
And you know, like I said, I'm not a salesperson,
so I could only be myself. Made sure that I
physically was a good representation of the brand, and it's
like it still works.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
I hope, yes, absolutely, you're so very successful. And you know,
I definitely wanted to make sure that we spoke a
little bit about sports as well, because as you mentioned
your daughters, and of course this is like women Empowerment
Month and we're coming slowly and I want to give
harmers to your daughters. You know, it's just going out
there being in sports is that is major? If you
(42:11):
could just go ahead and plug them in and just
kind of empower us ladies out there in the sports world.
Speaker 4 (42:18):
Well, I have a couple of things to share. So one,
before we talk about my daughter's pandemic, I was working
on a game day collection for WAGS and we had
a few Wags that were interested in collaborating, but covid happened.
(42:39):
That being said, we will be relaunching that in the fall.
It's not just for WAGS, it's for any woman who
loves sports, and the pieces will be representing your favorite team.
Speaker 1 (42:52):
I love that colors.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
You'll be using gemstones of those colors. So I thought
I would share that that'll be ready for football season.
Speaker 1 (42:58):
In the fall.
Speaker 4 (42:59):
Yeah. And as far as sports, I have two girls,
both athletes. One is varsity from ninth grade. She's a
high jumper and sprinter. That's my Tara, Missiah. And then
our miracle who after a bone marrow transplant from sickle
cell and not being able to do anything but ballet,
(43:21):
is now a competitive gymnast. And that is who we
were with at the state competition yesterday, and it's just
amazing seeing how both girls have. They're both straight A
students Dean's List, but they take their sports very well
and it's a lot of work for us parents, but
(43:41):
it's just amazing to see my chicks and sports.
Speaker 1 (43:45):
Absolutely. Oh my gosh, this is amazing. Thank you so
much for chatting with us. And look, I'm loving it.
I'm loving it. I'm all about those pieces. So we
want to make sure restake con that that because I'm
want to pull out some Falcon pieces. Okay, I might
you know, never know. I love it now again, could
(44:08):
you please just plug in where we can find more
information about you on social media? Of course I'm following you,
so just go ahead and plug in your social media outlets.
Speaker 4 (44:17):
So for my personal it is love Love, Dunes, Duns,
and for Messiah House, it is what it is Missio
House on all platforms. Perfect.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
Thank you again, Oh my gosh, this is so amazing.
I would love to chat with their daughters sooner than Lena.
And of course you look, we got to stick together
because these pieces seem amazing. And again I'm looking at Falcons,
I'm looking at the hawks, I'm looking at the Atlanta dream.
I'm looking at the vibe. Well, I'm all over the place,
but I want me some pieces to represent my city can.
Speaker 4 (44:52):
Ill and all our pieces are great for sports. Both
my daughters wear my pieces because they're hypologenetic waterproof O.
So yeah, like my daughters were the studs. And Tara,
where's the Leilani necklace? She hasn't taken it off in
three years?
Speaker 1 (45:07):
Oh my gosh. Yeah to say the police, Oh my gosh. Well,
thank you again, and I look for it. Look, you
do not be assured her because you're coming back. Okay.
Speaker 4 (45:19):
I look forward to it and I'll bring the girls.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
Absolutely. Thank you again, and I look forward to chatting again.
Speaker 4 (45:25):
Thank you, take care you's here.
Speaker 1 (45:27):
Good Bye, sports Lovely, It's twenty five, Nunits continues to
(45:48):
be all around. I have always I am the Queen
of elves. Taken else, that's right. I swear. If there
so as any such person, I am she and she
is not. But listen, in all fairness, I can say
the same about winning, right. I've had some major wins
(46:11):
throughout my life, which has always been my motivation to
keep pushing for it. So if you ever find yourself
feeling like me. Remember an l it's just an honiss
shape w And it's all about your mindset. Okay. But
most importantly, sometimes you have to just lose to win
in the game of life.
Speaker 3 (46:32):
Remember, dreams don't come true until you do what.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
You wake up and do the work that will never
be the same.
Speaker 3 (46:40):
Okay.
