hot Atlanta, and it's been raining all a day long.
I'm sitting here looking out my window like what in
the world? Can we get some sunlight before we d
too the evening? Like what is happening. Is just a raining,
gloomy day here in the A But it's all good.
(01:34):
You know, we got a lot to talk about sports wise.
But you know what, I definitely want to give a

she asks and listen, let her relish in the moment. Okay,
let hers relish. Now. I know my family better have
something special and gave them a less y'all. I have
(02:18):
told them exclusively, Mamai's this, this and this, and I
think they're out right now looking and searching. I love
my kids and my husband. Look, I love those guys
because I a promise you like, Oh my goodness, I
do put them with them through the wringer. But it's
nothing but love because I know my spouse when father's
(02:39):

he gets me, he gets me, He gets me back
for sure. But you know what's first, loveliest, I am
so excited to talk to you. It's gonna be an
amazing day. First, I know it's a little rainy, little gloomy,

on social media. Now, you know what, buts lovelies, I
(03:23):
know what you can't here to do, and that is
to do what talk sport. So listen. A late heartbreak
in shy right, shy town, Chicago. So our Elandia nineteen
fell to and went to Chicago Fire FC. We're down
at Soldier Field. Despite a second half on gold equalizer
(03:45):
and a strong push late from Chicago in an eighty
six minute strike siled the wind for of course, Chicago
FC now Atlanta nearly tied it at the death, but
Derrick Williams's efforts hit the poet. The team now will
return to action Wednesday, May fourteen, and another away game
in for Austin FC, so, of course we're going to
(04:09):
be rooting for our team from Afar. Come on, five Stripes, please,
let's get away, a draw, a win, something. You got this.
Let's go fight Stripes, Let's go. I know you know,
listen where we going. I just wanted to say, look,
we just have confidence. We got confidence that this team
will be able to turn things around despite one of
(04:29):
the worst starts in franchise history. But that's okay. You
know it's our Atlanta teams. We can do this. We
got you. So we will be rooting for our Atlanta
United team. Let's go, Five Stripes, let's go. Now move
right along too, our Atlanta Gladiators off season. Of course,
I spoke to you last week about the long time
Atlanta glad standout Derek Nesbit, who was named and promoted
(04:53):
to Director of Community Engagement after a historic playing career
and two seasons behind the bench as a head coach.
Mister Gladiator will of course focus and strengthen the team's
connection with the community he called for home for nearly
twenty years. Now, Listen, this team is an amazing team.
We've been following the Five Strikes for quite a while
(05:14):
now right and covering them. And look, this is a
historical moment because the Glass have named Matt Jen asked
the new head coach now Atlantic Gladiators, they promoted assistant
coach Matt Jen too become the seventh head coaching franchise history,
following Derrek Nasapus moved to front office. Now, Jen, a
former Gladiator goaltender, brings proven leadership from his time with
(05:38):
the Manchester Storm, the EIHL team where he earned Coach
of the Year honors after back to back playoff appearances,
and he's known for us as competitive drive and deep
connection to the team.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Now.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Jen will make this head coaching debut on October eighteenth
at Yass South Arena when the new season twenty twenty
sixth season will start up yet again twenty five, twenty
twenty six. That is now. Look, guys, I know, I know,
I'm so always happy to talk about hockey and ire
Atlanta Glass, but you know what, we gotta start talking
(06:14):
about NHL because look, we got some things going on,
and of course you know next week we're gonna talk
all about it, so stay tuned. But you know what,
I got to get to use some playoff news with NBA.
Right before I do that, I definitely want to just
mention Coach Pop. Yes, he is officially retiring of goodness,
(06:42):
gracious and amazing career, twenty seven seasons, five NBA titles, legendaries.
First head coach Greg Popovich, He's announced his retirement and
of course, the longest tenured coach in league history. He
stepped away earlier this season after suffering a stroke. Assistant
(07:03):
Mitch Johnson, who filled in since November, will now take
over as head coach, leading a rising Spurs team featured
DeAndre Fox, Rookie of the Year, Stephen Castle, and of
course superstar Victor Winby Yama. Now, look, guys, this is ugh.
I don't know, you know, it's kind of sad, But
at the same time, we know that he does have
(07:26):
a new position. Coach Pop is not just leaving, you know,
the whole NBA league altogether. But I'm just very excited
for the future for Coach Pop. When I've always said
he had been like a celebrity in the NBA, I
remember times where I would go to just after the games,
(07:50):
you know, after the Hawks games and when the team
played the Spurs. Coach Pop will come out. He was
signed autographs for fans and the kids. Oh my gosh,
they just loved him.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
But he would just.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Be so happy, you know, just humble to meet and
greet all the fans, shake their hands. I think sometimes
they were more excited to see coach pop than the players,
and I was like, what is happening here? But of
course he's a legend, he's an icon. Coach Greg Popovich
is finally retiring, and it's well done, you know, job,
(08:23):
well done. What I would like to say. You know,
sometimes you know, it's not about just giving up, right.
We know that he suffered some you know, health issues
and thank God that he's okay. But he's ventually on right.
He's going to be have a new role as the
(08:45):
president of Basketball Operations, which is still a great time
for him to transition into another position that will benefit
you know, the San Antonios first. So again, you know,
kudos to coach pop and his journey and of course
just look he did it best. He did it best,
(09:05):
twenty seven seasons, five NBA titles, the legend, Coach Popovich,
congratulations and yeah, get your rests. You know it's time
to just relax, you know, handle basketball of Operations position president. Okay,
we see you now, moving right along to the NBA
playoff news. You know, look, it's gonna be a weekend
(09:27):
full of previews and everything to come the action. He's
up this weekend as then it's takeover and try to
push to the self fits to the brink in Game
three on today, of course, holding a surprise into an
old serious lead. Later the Warriors and Timberwolves will battle
for control for their tight series in Game three. I
(09:49):
believe that game is going down at eight thirty, and
of course on Sunday, the Nuggets aim to extend there
to and one lead over the Thunder in Game four.
That game will start three thirty, and then the pacer
Sty'll be hosting the Cavaliers in a pivotal Game four
with Indiana leading to and one. Now will remember Monday, Monday,
we'll bring some more intensity with Game four of Nixon
(10:11):
Celtics at seven point thirty and then Warriors and Timberwolves
closing out the night at ten. So make sure you know,
get your your brackets in order, because it's going down.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
I'm back, a welcome back to spirts levelies. And then
my estimated MG moment for the weekends upon us and
it is going to packers. Elton Jenkins, who was involved
in a strip club dispute. Turns out the only thing
Jenkins tackled that night, well, it was a refund. You
(16:34):
ever heard of.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Such, so, you know, strip club refunds and.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
I don't think that going hand in hand. However, TMZ
has reported that Green May Packers offensive lineman and Elton
Jenkins was involved in the heated a stage at Atlanta's
Very Young King of Diamonds. And this went down last
week May first, something like that, But of course I
(16:59):
had to just tell you about what had happened. Was
now lesson guys. This went down after he was requesting
a refund when the club didn't meet his expectations. That's right,
the sixty eight million dollar star in his group clashed
with staff, prompting police response. Now bodycam footage from the
(17:22):
police shows officers arriving to be you know, calm about
the situation and dis escalated the situation. Of course, no
arrests or citations were issued, and Jenkins ultimately received his
mighty back. Now, all I can say is in the end,
nobody was thrown, just receipts, no penalties, no arrests. Just
(17:48):
the night that didn't go all the way to the
fourth quarter. Now that was my smh MG moment for

My next guest is a Board Certify family medicine physician
with a passion for holistic wellness and global care. A
(19:20):
Ross University alum and Robert wood Johnson trained physician. She's
been spotlighted in Legacy Miami magazine as one of the
Rossies on the Rise for her impactful contribution to Martin Healthcare.
Sports slevelies please welcome doctor Jennifer beyond that too in
the sports.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
Well Doctor Ganda, thank you so much for joining us.
Your Board certified Family medicine physician, diverse background for sure,
but could you please just tell you our listeners who
may not be familiar with you, give them a snapshot
of who you are and the kind of care you provide.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
Yes, yes, so I think a little about me. So
I am a I'm a wife, I am a mom,
and yes, I'm a physician, and I am obsessed with
all things health, wellness and beauty. And I am a
board certifiable triple Board certified Family Medicine, obesity Medicine, Anesthetics.
(20:24):
I co founded Empty Health and with the type of
care that I provide is the type of care that
is which which I wish I had when I was younger,
which is, we take our time to really listen to
our patients and we don't do anything as far as shaming, right,
(20:46):
this is a very judgment free zone for our patients.
And so they feel pretty comfortable sharing a lot of
this sensitive topics right as it relates to obesity and
just and just wellness and aesthetics. So the main thing
is that for my patients that they feel like they
are truly being listened to.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
Absolutely.
Speaker 5 (21:08):
Now, you offer services in both Florida and the Bahamas,
what unique health challenges or opportunities do you see in
each location.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Yes, there are definitely unique challenges with you know, the
Florida and the Bahamas culture when it comes to health.
So I think here in the US and Florida, the
main challenges are the I think just the access to
like just the access to getting the proper quality care
(21:42):
when it comes to the health care system. I think
a lot of what I hear is a lot of
patients say that they don't feel heard and they don't
know how to kind of navicate those waters. But in
the Bahamas, the issue is the access just to getting
that care. You know, they don't have the access to
the wake management or the pcos or even like advanced
lab testing. It can be it can be very it
(22:04):
could be very challenging.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
Wow, now you know what I know. We have all.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
These different trends from worthy to ozempic and all of
these adaptable drugs.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
You specialize in obesity medicine.
Speaker 5 (22:21):
What's something most people don't realize about just the link
between weight and just overall health. And if you could
speak on those injectibles as well, please go ahead.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Yes, I would love to. I think one of the
biggest misconceptions or people don't realize is that they think
obesity is all about will power, and weight impacts a
majority of our health. It affects your hormones, it affects
your sleep, it affects your mental health, your fertility, even
(22:54):
you know how your joints feel. So it's not about
the parents, and that obesity is a chronic medical condition
and it's not a character flaw. And I think the
GLP want medications. These injectibles have highlighted that that concept.
So now with the GLP want medications, what they do
(23:18):
they target your appetite suppression, so now your appetitis will work,
the amount of food you're eating is less, and then
the quality of food that you're eating is a little
bit different. So that is you know, it works tremendously
even with patients that have you know, psychiatric conditions like bolimia.
(23:39):
You know, and they're super obsessed with food, you know. Yeah,
so it works wonders on tons of patients who have
high food noises, right, and that you know, contributes to
their obesity. And then now from an internal standpoint, these
medications are helping to improve a lot of patients hormones.
For instance, patients that are struck with something called PCOS,
(24:01):
which is probably the cystic ovarian syndrome. These patients, it's
the hormones that are causing their obesity. So with those
these medications, it's balancing those hormones for those patients, and
it's helping their obesity and their fertility. So again, not
the patient's problem, it's the body. And so these these
medications are just highlighting that its obesity is more than
(24:25):
just more power.
Speaker 5 (24:28):
Absolutely absolutely, I'm so glad that you shared that with us.
But most importantly I wanted to speak just briefly about
just I hear a lot about burnout in the healthcare system.
How do you personally just maintain the balance and prioritize
self here as a physician and of course as an
entrepreneur slash business.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
I know, it's super hard. Yeah, that's reality, right, It's
super hard, Yes, burnout is real, and I have to
constantly remind myself that I need to get some rest
(25:10):
and I also need to set some boundaries. So what
I've actually started doing is I have a do not
disturb on my cell phone. I haven't yes after seven pm,
I uh, after seven pm, I should I shut it off.
And that's my family times. That's the time for me
to be, you know, time for me to reset. So
I kind of just you know, wake up super early
(25:31):
even that I have no distractions, and I have a
good team around me that they're able to take on
a lot of the backlog of what's going on with
empty health and what's going on with a lot of
the projects that I'm working on. But as I tell
my patients that they need to reset, I have to
do too. So I'm super cautious. Yeah, I'm super cautious
(25:55):
about not just like preaching, but I have to practice
what I preach. So I'm very mindful of that.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
Absolutely.
Speaker 5 (26:03):
I am one hundred percent integrants with you. But before
we wrap up, what is one small change you would
encourage our listeners to make today just to improve their
long term health.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
Yes, of course, that's a good, good question. I think
one of the biggest change that I would encourage your
listeners to do is move your body. As I work
in the hospital system, and I do work, and I'm
in here in Florida, and I do see a lot
of patients that are older, right and they're in the hospital,
(26:37):
and you see the impact on putting in those tiny
steps day by day and how they compound when you
get older and you're frail, right. So once you continue
to prioritize moving your body, that creates a better quality
of life for you once you get to that point.
(26:59):
So that's why it is super super crucial, you know,
to implement those changes now.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
So move, move, absolutely, let's get moving.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
Oh my goodness, that is so amazing.
Speaker 5 (27:13):
I love, love, love it the most important. Look, thank
you so much for coming on and just speaking with
us about health, because right now it is so important
just to take care and all your mental health but
also your physical health. Well, Doctor Beyonder, please play in
any social media page that you have so we can
definitely follow you and just see what you're up to.

can follow my personal page at doctor ondscod j BEYONDA.
That's J M B I A N D A. So yes,

that you have this platform, that you know that doctors
(27:55):

around this, you know, around the space.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
It's twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
Newness continues to.

Speaker 6 (28:21):
I have always said I am the Queen of Elves
taken el' leah and right, I swear if there was
any such person, I am she and she is not.
But listen, in all fairness, I can say the same
about winning.
Speaker 5 (28:39):
Right.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
I've had some major wins throut my life, which has
always been my motivation to keep pushing for it.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
So if you ever found.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
Yourself feeling like me, remember an l it's just an
ois shape w and it's all about your mindset, okay.
But most importantly, sometimes you have to just lose to
win in the game of life. Remember, dreams don't come
true until you do what you wake up and do
the way that.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
You will never be the sacond.
