(02:47):
Of course, unfortunately your girl made a flop or a flop. Yes,
I have to come back correcting my era and a
couple of weeks back, consecutive weeks. There it is. I
did mention there would be one practice game doing training
camp at the Mercedes Months and that's just not so so.
If you're hoping to catch the dirty bears at the
(03:09):
Mercedes BIS this summer, my bag, think again. Listen. The
Falcons are practicing at Flowery Branch for a training camp
twenty twenty five and the action it's all happening at
IBM Performance Fill Now. This year's camp features eleven open
practices and trust me, there are plenty to look forward to.
It all kicks off on July twenty fourth, but head up, listen,
(03:32):
heads up. Both Opening A's and the NFL back together
weekend on July twenty six are already sold out. So
that's the big Ones where fans here from new head
coach Rayhie Morris and of course GM and of course
we're ub shoulders with former Falcons legends. But looking ahead,
we got August twelfth and thirteen. Listen mussy dates as
(03:53):
the Falcons hosts the Tennessee Titans for joint practice, So
set in the stage for their preseason down on August fifteenth.
HASP full speech position, look battles at of course a
true taste of game prep. Now here's what you need
to know. All practices they start at nine thirty eight
(04:15):
m and for joint practices it will probably be about ninety.
Gates will be opening at eight thirty, so you got
the free shuttles, cash lists, concessions, and of course the
kids don't for little kids who are fans of our
atl dirty birds. Now it's gonna be family friendly, but
also hot. It's gonna be hot because you know this
(04:37):
Georgia Hot Atlanta, so bring sunscreen, your water bottles, and
of course your rise up energy. So look, the Falcons
won't be training under the bench roof, but the vibes
are going down in Flowery Branch, so listen. It's gonna
be unmatched. So don't wait. Get your tickets. They're free,
(04:59):
but it's gonna require you to go online and register,
so grab yours immediately. Go to Falcon's website and get
your tickets. Okay and listen. We'll see you. We'll see you.
I will see you on the hill. So rise up now,
you know what, I'm not sure if you've got a
chance to see the twenty twenty five Spies. Yes, this
(05:21):
happened this week and you know there was a lot
going on, brought up quite a few stars in history makers.
Let's just say Sga was the big winner on the
men's side, named Best Male Athlete and Best NBA Player
after a breakout season with the Thunder, And on the
women's side, Simon Biles reminded the world who she is
(05:42):
best Female Athlete and Best Championship Performance after dominating the
twenty twenty four Olympics. They'll say go and Barcoley showed
out two, winning Best NFL Player and Best Played for
that while back where it's Hurtle Felly Phile fans had
even more the cheerabout with the Eagles taking home Best
(06:02):
Team and shout out to Kaitlin Clark best at BNBA Player,
plus big wins for Cocoa Gough and you know so
many more. Off the field, we had some real inspiration.
Oscar Robertson honored with the Arthur Ask Courage Award and
Sloan Stevens taking home the Muhammad A La Sports Humanitarian Award.
(06:22):
Now the SBS gave athlete their flowers and every winner
proof it's just bigger than sports, right, So let's, you know,
make sure we give those flowers to those who are
still here with us on the other side. That's what
it's all about, right, Just congratulating all those who got
awards on the sbst Now shift you know, the grid
(06:45):
iron to the pitch. Let's talk a little bit about
Atlanta United. Ye news, Yes, our five strikes soccer. Atlanta
United showed some serious heart on a Wednesday night at
the Ben Stadium, coming from behind twice to draw two
and two with the Chicago Fire. Now listen, brag guns
And made his return from injury and shout out with
(07:07):
seven big saves, helping Atlanta extend its home on Beaten
Street to three. Now, our team, they're looking forward to
just getting back into the winning column. I know we
have already. You got draws, which is not bad. Remember,
draws are not a lost. Draws actually gives the team
points that are much needed. So listen, Atlanta sits at four, ten,
(07:31):
and eight, and listen, they're gonna get right back at
it tonight July nineteenth when they face off against Charlotte FC.
So listen, I know, I know. We always want the dub, right,
but we also want points. So we want points. So
rather we win a draw, it's going to be a
win in the end. So let's go five starts. We
(07:53):
see you as hopefully we could get back into the
win column or get some points in between. So whatever happens,
we are ready to roll out with our five strikes team.
Let's go five strikes. Let's go. Now, you know what
Atlanta Gladiators Hockey, our ECHL team. Look, they have some
big plans for this fall in winter, our Atlanta Gladiators.
(08:17):
They just gave us every reason to show up and
show out at Guess South Arena. The twenty twenty five
to twenty six promotional schedule is out and Lissa, it's
stack with fun, energy, some good old vibes, and of
course this is all for our whole entire family. So
let's run through some highlights. We got the opening night
it goes down October eighteenth versus Utah Putt drops on
(08:39):
season twenty three with gladiator themed specialty jerseys, hyped energy,
and of course building that's gonna be rocking, right, It's
gonna be hot. It's gonna be wonderful. Well, not necessarily
hot because it's cold because we're on the ice, but
it's gonna be some hot action happening on October to eighteenth,
now Sunday, October nineteen, it's time for kids to take over.
(09:02):
You know, Blues Clues is gonna be in the building. Yes,
the annual Blues Game returns, and trusts me, the little
ones are gonna lose their little minds because of course,
who doesn't like blues clothes? I know I do, right.
But moving into November marketing calendar is the Glass Fight
Cancer Night on the twenty second, a powerful evening where
(09:25):
they're gonna be honoring survivors and remembering those we've lost
and rally behind to fight for cancer. And of course
guess what we got College Night also that's coming back.
It's gonna be some discounting tickets for students on multiple
nights November twenty sixth, February fourth, and March eighteenth. It's
gonna be time to just throw on your school colors
(09:47):
and squad up with our Atlanta glass. But listen, we've
got to go to the holiday party, right it's gonna
happen in December. They have Marvel Night on December nineteenth night.
Yes we're all those cowboys or former cowboy Carter fans
come on down on December twenty seventh. And yes, there's
(10:08):
even Star Wars Nights coming on in January third for
the new year. So may the first be with our glass.
And don't you dear, don't you even dear? Sleep on
Teddy Bear Toss Night February fourteenth, Valentine's Day. Bring your
teddy bears, toss it on the ice after the first
glass go, and then it's gonna spread some love to
kids and needs. Yeah, that's one of my favorites. I
(10:31):
had to bring my niece and nephew to see them,
you know, throw their little teddy bears out on the ice.
And when I tell you, the glass collected so many
stuff animals, if I'm not mistake, I believe it's like
five thousand stuff. And well, it was phenomenal. It's such
a great time and of course giving back to the
community and that's what it's all about. But then closing, closing,
(10:53):
it off Fan Appreciation Night. It's going down April nineteenth.
I'm sorry, April tenth. It's the final home game of
the Sea and the big thank you to the loudest,
proudest fans in ECHL. So make sure you are there
for Fan Appreciation Night April to tenth. It's going to
be the final game of the season. But seriously, there's
something for everyone this season. So theme jerseys, kit frieling games,
(11:15):
community vibes, and none stop action on the ice. So
make sure you grab your tickets, plan your outfits. Make
sure you're nice and comfy because it gets cold in
that arena, Gas South Arena, under the ice or on
top of the ice. Make sure you are there. We'll
love to see you at Gas South Arenas. Let's go, glads,
let's go. Now. Listen, guys, I know there's the time
(11:41):
we got the CACA news. Yes, our atl Hawks, Yes,
or a lotta Hawks play Hi in Vegas, y'all with
a perfect four and old record after etging out the
Memphis Grizzlies ninety two to eighty eight Thursday night at
Cops Pavilion. Now, even though they won every game, Hawks
will not They will not advance to the knockout round.
(12:03):
Now blame the point differential, but don't let that take
away from what they accomplished. This team showed out. It
was a wire to wire battle, Atlanta holding a slim
forty eight to forty six lead half time before pulling
away in the third, and the second unit stepped up
big time, dropped me forty three points and outscoring mifits
bench bar twelve. Our atl Hats will take on the
(12:27):
Boston Celtics tomorrow at sis o'clock. Hopefully they can continue
one with their unb ten record. They stand in the
record two five and zero. We shall see. Let's go
Hawks plenty to be excited about as the upcoming season approaches.
Now listen, while we're talking about winning performances.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Let's pivot.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Let's pivot from the court to community. Because earlier today
I had the opportunity to attend the Real Talk, Real Strength,
Mental Color Health Summit hosted by our Atlanta Hawks and
Kaiser Permanente, and let me tell you it was so powerful.
The summit brought together nearly one hundred participants for honest,
necessary conversation around physical and mental health, specifically tatered to
(13:11):
the needs of men of color Now. One standout moment
was It's the Physical Health panel, moderated by doctor Aaron Cooper,
a physician with Kaiser Permanente. Joining him on the stage
was Alvin AVI. Bailey, founder of Heels for atl Philip J. Cool,
chief medical Officer of Prostate Cancer Foundation, and Scott Lee Innis,
(13:35):
celebrity shelf and owner of Continent Atlanta and Continent Brooklyn.
Now listen, the dialogue was raw. It's definitely long overneing
these men. They just open up about help, legacy, food,
lifestyle and the power of showing up for yourself and
of course your community. And guess what, guys, guess what's
first loveliest. I had a chance to chat.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
With two of the panelists.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
He asked doctor Aaron Cooper and of course doctor Coop
about just the urgency of these conversations and why spaces
like this matter so much. So here's that conversation.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Good morning, Doctor Aaron H.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Cooper.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
I worked with Kaiser Permanente, the Internal Medicine or a
Dope Medicine Apartment and the Self Service Area Chief. Happy
to be here with the Hawks today, Happy to have
the partnership with Kaiser Permanente, and promote men's health absolutely.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
So earlier we spoke about crosstate cancer and just showing
just the proportion of how it's so high with the
African American male community. Do you speak a little bit
briefly on why do you feel that itself?
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Yeah, Doctor Coop with the Process Foundation gave a wonderful answer.
He talked about it, you know, is it our diet,
is it our exercise, But most importantly it's likely genetics
and then the other side is not allowing it to
cause an issue, preventing it way before that. Fosset cancer
is one of the slowest growing camp so we have
(15:01):
time to catch the serious complications of it, and we
do that by yearly.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Screenings now typically for prostate Now you can correctly if
fine incorrect, they're saying protect cancer is one of the.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
More curable, So yes, yes, so you know curable is
you know, it's always kind of relative because you know
there's always remission and you know recurrence. But yes, because
it is not as aggressive as so let's say, pancreatic
or certain type of brain tumors or even lung cancer,
liver can you know, so many other things can move
very very fastly or vary in cancer. Prostate cancer is
(15:36):
one of the slower brewing ones, and that's why it
goes asymptomatic. You know, our males go asymptomatic for a
prolonged time, maybe ten years before they feel anything till
fifteen years. So that's why we always talk about getting that,
especially the PSA screening yearly.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
So what is your advice, would you especially for those
that are young, because I believe Leaves had a young
male to speak about it, and you're thirty nine years old. Guys,
is that kind of rare or what is your thoughts
on that?
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Yeah, so, you know, things that are considered rare stop
being rare when they become more common. And we're starting
to see that a lot more. The person who didn't
make that statement, I won't say his name, he is
now my you know, patient over the last you know,
six or seven years.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
I wasn't in the primary.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Care physician that diagnosed him, but I've been enough part
of his treatment plan over the last few years. So
we want our young males to end their twenties, to
start getting their yearly fiscals now and when that time,
whether certain organizations say forty or forty five or fifty.
Whenever that BSA's training start, you want them to be
present there for that.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Now, doctor, let's be one hundred African American men spoke
about that area. What can you say to encourage those
just to continue to still displag get it done and
just get your results.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Yeah, so you know I am one of that, not
just being an African American male. I went five ten
years without going to a position, you know, during my
medical school and residency. So I have made it a
part a point to change. I have twin girls I
want to be around. So when I speak to my males,
whether it's they're young in their twenties to whether they're seventies, eighties, nineties,
(17:18):
you've got to come in every year. If I don't
want to do it, but I do it and it's
benefiting my health and we want to benefit your.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Health as well. Awesome, thank you so much for your time.
It's been a pleasure to speaking in there.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Hi. My name is Philip Coop. I am the chief
medical officer of the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Awesome again, thank you so much for coming out in
this interviewing with me. Today. I'm looking at real talk,
real strength summit men of Color Flu Summit. Talk a
little bit about just your experience today.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
You know, it was real honor to be here to
join this wonderful event that was sponsored by the Atlanta
Hawks and Kaiser Permanente. It was great to see so
many men and women come here engaged to learn more
about what they can do for their health, because we
know that mental health is very important to an area
that we could improve on, and we know that this
will help strengthen families and communities throughout the metropolitan Atlanta area.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Absolutely, so, today we spoke about processing cancer and just
a directory in the future of that. You're very hopeful
that one day there will.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Be a cure, right absolutely, you know, we do hope
one day there is a cure. That being said today,
there are ways for us to detect disease early and
that gives us the best chance of curing it through
various ways such as surgery or radiation treatment.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Now, looking at just the different cancers prosit cancer, would
you degree that is one of the more treatable cancers.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
You know, as long as it's it is detected early,
it is much more treatable. The other good news is
even if it does spread beyond the prostate. We have
many more tools and options to treat disease better as well,
so there's much more hope for patients with prostate cancer
along the whole or any of the disease.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Absolutely, would you agree early detection is the key to
getting treatment and getting everything taken care of a timely fact.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
Absolutely, that's the TAKEO messages, get your PSA screenings done routinely,
catch it early, and that's going to give everyone the
best chance of surviving.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Now, I know you did speak briefly about just some
of the symptoms, because you're just kind of run through
just some.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
Of those symptoms, maybe some maybe.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
Expiracy and just maybe need to go ahead and get
a check out.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
You know, to me, the symptoms can be a very
broad range of symptoms. So rather than focusing on the symptoms,
what we like to say is focus on getting the
test on when you do not have symptoms, because again
that's when you catch it early, and that's when we
get had the biggest difference and the biggest impact. So
if you do have symptoms, obviously you want to talk
about it and mention it to your primary care providers
(19:51):
and make sure it gets checked out because we do
want to make sure if it is prostly cancer, we
get you on that rate right road as soon as possible.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
Well, thank you so much for your time.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
It's been a pleasure speaking with my pleasure. Thank you
very much.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Powerful, just powerful from doctor Cooper and doctor Coop. These
conversations aren't just necessary, their life saving. So shout out
again to our Atlanta Hawks and Kaiser Permanente for creating
a space where health and healing and real talk came together.
But the impact just didn't stop there. I had a
chance to catch up with Alexis roll the vice president
(20:26):
of the Impact the Strategic Initiative at the Atlanta Hawks.
She talked about the organization's deep commitment to the community
and what it needs to truly give back, not just
with resources, but with presence, purpose, and partnership. So here's
what she had to say about the Hawks showing up
beyond the court.
Speaker 6 (20:44):
Hi, my name is Alexis Rowe and I'm the vice
president of Community Impact by the Atlanta Hawks and State
Farm Arina.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Awesome. Well, less is so happy to speak to you
yet again. Talk about just today and the real talk,
real strength, men of color. He'll summit, he tell us
what's going on here.
Speaker 6 (21:01):
Yes, So real Talk, Real Strength was created with the
thought that over sixty three percent of men of color
do not get health checks right. That goes from mental
health screening all the way to your routine checkups. The
Atlanta Hawks and Kaiser believe in making our community stronger,
and a part of being stronger is being healthier. So
today we brought those two things together. We brought together
(21:24):
a couple of panels. We had a mental health panel,
a physical health panel where we're talking about some of
the stigmas. We're demystifying some of the things that the
community believes, but then also empowering men of color to
take charge of their own health journey.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Following the panel, we're having.
Speaker 6 (21:41):
Barbershop chats where we're having small group discussions for the
attendees to really get to know each other.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
We want to.
Speaker 6 (21:47):
Create a safe space for them to talk about these
things in a real and vulnerable way. And then following that,
they're going to get an exclusive opportunity to go on
the court, which a lot of people don't get the
opportunity to do, but we want them to see how
they're our physical health can show up on the basketball court.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
That is amazing. Now, let's please just emphasize and just
share with us how important it is for the Hawks
to continue to give back to the community.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
The Atlanta Hawks believes that we are a civic asset
to the community and that is perfect to align with
an amazing partner in Kaiser Permanente, because they do the
same thing. Whether we are in the community doing our
camps and clinics, whether we are working with coaches on
how they can strengthen their coaching stats, whether we are
in the schools helping people to understand how to exercise
(22:34):
their mind from an educational perspective. We believe that we
have a platform and our platform is going to be
used to give back to our community, a community that
gives so fruitfully to us. So we are so grateful
that we have an opportunity to be in the community
and to also empower them on their health journey.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Absolutely, I'm looking forward. What can we look forward to
in the future from the Atlanta Hawks community side.
Speaker 6 (22:58):
Yeah, So from Atlanta Hawks community side, we stay committed
to our community. We listen, we listen with intention, We
understand the data around what our community is challenged with,
and we are going to do something about it. For us,
it is about measurable impact. It's not about checking a box,
but it really is about trying to see what are
(23:19):
the problems that our community solves and what can we
do to leverage our platform to change the narrative for
the trajectory of our city.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Now, that's what community impact looks like. And the experience
didn't end with the panel. Attendees also walked away What's
flat bats, They got to shoot hoops right on the
official Atlanta Hawks court, and even took a tour of
the Hawks locker room inside State Farm Arena. Talk about
the VIP full treatment. Okay, now listen. This was yet
(23:46):
another successful event in the hawks ongoing mission to pour
back into the city that supports them. Real talk, real strength,
real community. And for more on today's event and how
the Atlanta Hawks continue to show up for the atl
hand on over the Chicks into sports dot Com. We've
got you covered with all of the highlights. Let's go Hawks,
(24:07):
Let's go sports and levelies. Please buckle up because the
sports t is brewing and I'm about to take you
on a ride that will involve a Hollywood bumpshell, a
certain NFL goat and a yacht that had the Internet sparling,
stay locked in, will be bad and welcome back, Welcome
(24:37):
back sports levelies. Did y'all catch that finish? I bet
you're like, what what is she? What is she talking about? Well,
I'm talking about. The twenty twenty five MOLB All Star
Game brought straight up drama on Tuesday Night with the
first ever swung off to decide the winner. Yes you're
that right, think penalty hit. But with that and the
(24:59):
hero the night none other than Kyle Schwarmer, who launched
three home runs to give the National League a while
four and three win after the al rallied from six
runs down. Now, let's talk numbers. The Midsummer classt pulled
in over seven point eighteen million viewers, making it fox
(25:19):
most squatch shows since the Super Bowl, but it still
saw a slight dip from last year's down three point
five percent and ranked as the second lowest viewership ever
for All Star Game, but still Baseball holdings the All
Star rating crown. Look. The NBA and NFL version both
(25:41):
average four point seven million, and even the home run
derby on Monday outperformed last year's, bringing in five point
seventy three million. One thing is clear, America still loves
the long ball, especially when there's a twist at the end.
Now you know what, I know you got a we're waiting,
I know, sports lovel so you can stop clutching your pearls.
(26:05):
My sports tea time is now. Just listen. I know
I teased about a Hollywood bumshell and an NFL goat
and a yacht that had the whole entire Internet spiraling
out of control. And now, sports lovelies, it's time. It's time.
I'm going to serve you the tea piping hot, So
(26:28):
make sure you grab your mugs and get comfy, because, baby,
this week sports tea is brewed with star power, a
splash of scandal, and a whole lot of yacht side shade.
So can we sip? Shall we? Yes? I just sipped,
(26:48):
So listen. So Sophia Magara and Tom Brady had a
timeline that was in a choko for a minute, right,
she pulled a little photo edump moment, one of which
just so happened to include the two of them dining
together on a luxury yacht. No big deal, right, just
(27:11):
the rits, Carlton and some super yacht vites, right, only
must be nice, must be nice. But naturally the Internet
lost his collective mind and they went straight to oh
are they dating? Is this the power couple we didn't
know we needed? Well, not quite. Sports loveliest word on
(27:33):
the curve is those romantic rumors fizzled faster than a
can of flat Coca cola on a hot summer day
in the A. Yes, surely no. Sources say Sophia may
not be Brady's tight because apparently he strictly teamed supermodel. Meanwhile,
(27:53):
insiders say she might be looking for someone a little
bit more established and older, which no shade might rule out.
You know, Tom terrific. But listen, So for now that
boat has officially sailed, literally and figuratively. But you know what,
(28:14):
you know how the tea goes. But either way, we'll
be watching, right. I mean, look, I thought that, Honestly,
I was not surprised. I was like, Okay, maybe she
has a new man and he has a new woman,
he has a new boo thing, but hey, that is
what it is. You know. Just because people take pictures
together does not mean there are a couple. So I
(28:35):
guess we'll just leave it as it is, but we
will be watching you Sofia and Tom and that is
my sports tea. Coming up after the break.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
Is my WNBA news.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
So stay tuned sports and lovelies.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
Will be bad.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Welcome back, Welcome backs, first, lovelies, it's w NBA. Okay, okay, listen, guys.
The Atlanta Dream just made history in Chicago on Wednesday night.
They crashed the Sky eighty six to forty nine, the
largest defensive shut down in franchise history. Now, Beiji came
out strong, scoring the first five points at passing Jeweloid
(30:16):
to move into the nineteenth on WNBA All Star scoring list,
and Ricky pal Pal she crossed the one hundred point
career mark with style. Now, the Dream held Chicago to
just ten first quarter points, only twenty three in the
first half, and finished with thirty seven point victory, the
second largest margin in team history. Five Dream players scored
(30:39):
in double figures. Atlanta was locked in from the start
to finish. Now, the Dream had to Vegas to take
on the defending champs on July twenty second. But here's
the thing. Right right now, all eyes are on the
WNBA All Star Game. Yes, it's All Star weekend and listaid, baby,
(31:00):
it's happening. New York Liberty said, we take that, and
we did that, and here we are. We took that
to you. Now what I mean is the WNBA All
Star Weekend. It kicked off with the banun Friday night
in Indianapolis, and the Liberty were out there flatsing hard.
For just the third time in WNBA history, the same
(31:21):
team swept both the Skills Challenge and the three point contests.
And yes, it was all about New York, New York.
Natasha Clouds. She set the tone early, blazing through the
skill course in thirty six point four seconds two snatched
the title. She was locked in from start to finish.
Cool comp and total control. And when it came time
(31:42):
for the three point shout out, you already know who
stepped it up. Sabrinie. I ain't ask you. The record
holder herself put on another clinic, reclaiming her three point
crown with the absolute Snipers. She is buckets all day now.
The Liberty showed out and reminded everyone why they're not
(32:02):
just a contender on the court. But she'll stop present
on the big stage. Now. Listen, the weekend's not over.

(34:00):
she didn't. Oh no she didn't.
Speaker 7 (34:03):
Oh oh no, this one for didn't.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Well, halcome back to up a vas versed at least
my esmateh Ounjie moment is upon it said, Listen, Laila
Ali says fifteen mil. Clarissa says bet, Clarissa says yeah.
So listen, guys, grab your gloves because Boton might just
be on the verge of the biggest women's fight in history. Now,
fifteen million reasons to just lace up and a legacy
(34:35):
is on the line. So here's the rundown, right. Legendary
champion Laila Ali recently told Fight Hype. Unless somebody calls
me and says they have fifteen mil to twenty million,
we not even go have a conversation. Okay, wep, someone
(34:56):
did call, and that was Clarissa Shills gwoat. Now look
she just didn't call. She showed up with a literal check.
In a video to TMZ Sports Shields probably declared, Layla,
I'm here with my team. I got some great news
for you. We got a fifteen million. Let's make a
(35:18):
fight between me and you, the best versus the best,
the GWAT versus Muhammad Ali's daughter. The source of the
giant bag was when records Ruben Branson, who is apparently
ready to rank world at legacy level about for the ages.
They even rolled out one of those oversized checks like
(35:41):
the publishers clearing house checks for those who are old
enough to know and the ones that are the young
ones have no idea who had met man or of
the publishing clearing houses. But that's another story for another day.
But listen, it sounds like it's time for Laila to
either float like a buz fly black into the ring
(36:01):
or gw a T versus the daughter of the g
O A T. This fight is practically right itself, so
come on, Leila, don't leave us on red bit checks,
bigger egos and the biggest showdown women's spots and has
ever seen I need the popcorn? Okay, and I mean
also my media credentials immediately. Who do I need to
(36:23):
talk to? Who I need? Who I need to call?
And that is my smh og moment for the week.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
Stay tuned, will be bad.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
My next guess is a problem mother, devoted wife, passionate
women's health advocate, and the founder and chief motivating officer
of the Fibrard Pandemic. Sports Levelies, please help me. Welcome back,
LaToya Dwight too, Chicks in the sport.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Let's poy.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
I welcome back. So super excited you're back. But I
just wanted to ask you just to share with the
audience what inspired you to start the fib word Pandemic
and how does your personal journey shape the mission of
the organization.
Speaker 5 (37:41):
Absolutely so, the Fibriard Pandemic was created. It was birth
out of my pain that I turned into my passion.
And what really really motivated me to start this was
after I did my research. I realized how Black women
(38:01):
are disproportionately impacted by DNE fibroids in our white counterparts,
with us being three times more likely to develop fibroids.
Not only that, but when we're diagnosed with fibroids, it's
typically a lot later than our white counterparts. So oftentimes
the recommendation by our doctor, is by our obgin, is
(38:24):
to have a hysterectomy. So what that does is that
that can tremendously impact our lineage. Right, so my passion.
You know, I could have had my procedure and my
surgery and healed and went about my life and just
kept thriving. But when I realized, after having conversation after
(38:44):
conversation that so many women and young adults, young women
who look like me and sound like me and are professionals,
and their spouses and their you know, mothers, their experiences
and their walk of life with the five were healing
dreams so similar to mine that I felt compelled, you know,
to be behooven of me not to try to really help,
(39:10):
you know, drive change. So you know that that would
be my response to that again, just turning my pain
into passion to really help drive change.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
Yeah, so so inspiring. But can you please just tell
us about just the evolution of the fiber pandemic and
just how it has grown into a community and resource hub.
Speaker 5 (39:32):
So in full transparency, you know, the fibray pandemic started
out literally as a thought, as a thought, you know. Again,
going through my healing journey, I remember having a conversation
with my friend. I said, you know, I feel like
God is calling me to do more. He's like, started
an Instagram pitched. I'm like, I don't know how to
work social media first of all, But then I said
(39:53):
what am I supposed to do? And she said, you'll
figure it out. And I did because after doing my research,
I realized that a lot of community initiatives and community
support comes from doing different run walks, do talk tracks.
And I said, you know what, I can do this.
(40:16):
I literally still have an email. I believe it was
probably from twenty seventeen, if I'm not mistaken, or I
reached out to someone to just inquire about what would
it be to, you know, put on a race, security
a race, and you know, it was birth from there.
I literally could remember conversations with trying to decide what
(40:41):
we're going to name it. It was it was going
to be called the Far Run, three or four other names,
and I was like, no, run Far Run first a
double entendre number one for Fibruary awareness and resources, but
secondly running far as in we're going to lock arms
with you and go to long mile, go to law route,
but a long way to help you get across that
(41:03):
finish line of your fibrate healing journey.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
You know, so.
Speaker 5 (41:09):
You know when when people are when there's an uprising
of conversations and political movement, because now you're seeing a
lot of politicians, a lot of influencers, a lot of
celebrities coming out and just really being authentic and transparent
about not only suffering from you to and Vibrates, but
(41:30):
even taking a step further as far as a gas
lighting and being dismissed. You know, Venus Williams literally just
came out. The timing of our interview that you and
I are having right now is so amazing because Vnus
Williams just came out with her interview that she did
on her Fibrate journey how she was just dismissed. And
(41:50):
so someone like that, who's you know, famous, they're rich,
they have a you know, they're favorable in a public
eye for lack of better words, And if some one
like that is having trouble navigating and being heard, just
imagine our regular working woman like you and I, And
how's harder. How much more we have to fight just
(42:12):
to be heard and have to fight just to get
the results and help and the support that we want
that we so much that we deserve.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
I am so happy that you mentioned that because again
it was timing is of an asses, and timing is
everything right now, because like you said, Venus came out,
and even Cynthia Bailey you know a while ago, came
out about the fibrorid conversation. But most importantly, you know,
just highlighting those stories are so important, right m hm.
Speaker 5 (42:39):
Absolutely, And you know, and Cynthia has had a procedure,
the same exact procedure I did. She and I went
to the same doctor, you know, And just just having
these conversations, you know, Keisha Knight Pollium to quit a Lockley.
I mean this, we're talking. You know, we can take
this all the way back. Yeah, you know, Henrietta Lax
(43:02):
and you know, I can go off on a whole
other engine. But this is not this is not by
happens since that so many black women's stories are very similar.
Behooving of me not to speak up, not to want
to do so. I remember again, that conversation was so compelling.
I kept saying, I feel like God has calling me
(43:24):
to do something more, but I don't know what it is.
I don't know. And literally, after having conversations and praying
about and meditating, here we are now in twenty twenty
five about to have our first, our fourth and run
for our five K.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
Yes, yes, Oh my gosh, this is so super exciting.
And I know we didn't really talk deep into it
about the Run for Our five K, but could you
please just tell us how we can get involved with
the Just the Fiber pandemic and maybe participate in this
year's Run for Our five K if it is happening
(44:00):
in Atlanta, right, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (44:02):
So our fourth annual run far five k again is
acting for five Bread Awareness and Resources. It's happening on Saturday,
July twenty sixth for about three weeks out and it's
happening at Grant Park. So we're literally bringing it to
the city. The first several years, the first three years
we're outside the city, one being in Powder Springs, Georgia,
the other over there in Stone Mountain area. Now we're
(44:24):
bringing it to the heart of the city over there
in East Atlanta at Grant Park. It starts at a am.
It's a family friendly event, so we're gonna add a
one mile fun run with the kids this year. We're
gonna have a face painter out there. You know, We're
gonna have our awards ceremony immediately following, and so we're
just excited for have a DJ. We have a We're
(44:45):
gonna have an amazing host hosting it. Keep the people, keep
the people live and engaged, and it dies and we're
gonna have a warm up, you know. So we're trying
to elevate it as much as we can. You can
participate in person, you can register the part, participate virtual,
you can give the registration to someone else. You can
be a ghost or a phantom runner, which basically means
(45:05):
you want to be involved, but you're really not. You
don't have any intention to do it. That's fine as well.
We want your support and you can even create your
own team. So we thought about just about everything you
can do to be involved.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
Awesome. Where can we find out more information? Where do
we go?
Speaker 5 (45:21):
You're going to go to run far five k dot
com again, that is run far five k dot com.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
Awesome.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
Oh my gosh, LaToya, it's always a pleasure speaking with you.
Thank you for being the voice for us we need this.
Thank you for just having this conversation with me. I mean,
it's not a what it's been a year since we
last spoken, and it's been so prevalent. How many people
are really African American women being affected by fibers. I
(45:52):
didn't know this, believe it or not. I really didn't
have an idea what fibroids was until I spoke to
you last year. And this has been such a surreal topic.
I am just so honored to have you come on
and just share information again with us. Thank you so much, LaToya.
Speaker 5 (46:08):
Yeah, it's such a pleasure. And I remember our conversation
last year and you were saying that, so thank you
so much for having me. This has been amazing and
I look forward to us continuing to try change together.
Speaker 1 (46:31):
Sports Lovely. It's twenty twenty five, Nunits continues to be
all around. I have always said I am the Queen
of elves taken else nothing right. I swear if there
was any such person, I am she and she is not.
(46:52):
But listen, in all fairness, I can say the same
about winning right. I've had some major wins around my life.
It's always been my motivation to keep pushing forward. So
if you ever find yourself feeling like me, remember an
l it's just an Hollis shape w and it's all
about your mindset. Okay, But most Importantly, sometimes you have

to just lose to win in the game of life. Remember,
dreams don't come true until you do what you wake.
Speaker 7 (47:23):
Up and do the way that you will never be
the same. Okay, have you.
