Pierce junior found himself in the middle of two separate
dust stops. First, with a left guard Matthew Virgin and
listened helmets went flying. Then with a right tackle Caleb McGarry,
(02:44):
now veteran Leonard Floyd stepped into back up heres while
the defensive lion held it down for Virgin and of
course McGary. Now the scuffles got so intense the defensive
coordinator Jeff Ulbrich had to step in. He called it
a physical statement, but admit it may have gone a.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Little too far.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Uh A rich stress discipline, saying you gotta anticipate punters
being thrown and in those moments you gotta thrive and

compare the grid to off roading in a nice truck

competitive edge. Now, look, we had a chance to chat

It was impressive how our players showed up because you
do all the work in the offseason and then they're
gonna go away for a pretty period, so they have
to have that maturity to continue to work. And our
players really did were very brad when we come in
for the conditioning into weigh in the way the guy

two weeks after he settled a lawsuit in which his
ex girlfriend accused him of break and now things are
hit Look, they're hitting up. They're coming to a head.
Even more drama is coming. Sharps to Sharp's Way. Now,
Shannon is facing a brand new twenty million dollar defamation
lawsuit from a woman named Jamita Tillman. Now. According to
(16:01):
court documents, Tillman acclaims that Sharp and his Nightcap podcast
co hostat Ocho Sinko Johnson made false statements suggestion she
was married and that her husband was divorcing her after
a viral moment at an Usher concert back in Naple.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
And you know what goes.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
Down at those Usher concerts with those cherries, but you do,
Tillman said, quote, I participated in a fan engagement moment
at Usher Raymond's concert where I interacted with the artist
as a selected audience member. The defendant made and disseminated
false and defamatory statements suggesting that I was married and
(16:45):
that my husband was filing for divorce due to my
participation in this audience experience. I am not married, nor
am I currently going through a divorce. Who listen here
this story. It's still unfolding, and we'll keep an eye

sports lovelies will be bad. We welcome back, love the
(17:44):
mad sports lovelies.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
It's time for WNBA news.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Okay, okay, listen. On Wednesday night in Dallas, the Dream
pulled off a thrilling edit it to eighty five victory
over the Wings, improving sixty to eleven on the season.
But the brand new starting lineup a ton of poal
pal Alicia Gray, Mya Hallwell, Breonna Jones and Brittany Griner
and moved to one and zero with the group while
also improving their all time series record against Dallas's to
(18:14):
sixteen thirteen, including five and ten on the road. But
it wasn't without a little drama. Okay Now, In the
third quarter, former Dream player Haley Jones fouled BG in
the paint. Now, instead of the call going Atlanta's way,
the referee hit Griner with a foul. Frustration begin to
bowl and after arguing the call, BG was assessed with
(18:38):
a table. When she made contact with the official, she
picked up a second tech and was automatically ejacted. Now
the sixth time WNBA All Stars now facing likely suspension,
and listen, we all know making contact with the referee
is against the rules. It's a hard line and look,
(18:59):
you just can't cross it. But then Friday night at
Gateway cin Arena, the Dream put on the shelves, daring
past the Phoenix Mercury ninety five to seventy two. Atlanta
is sploited in the first quarter with thirty four points,
their highest scoring quarter of the season, and tied the
Friends Choice record with eight May threes. Alicia Gray was
lights out, dropping twenty six points in a sizzling seven
(19:21):
of nine from deep and of course, setting a new
career high for made threes in a game. Now Comwell
stayed hot with fourteen points and perfect shooting from the
long range, while na It's Hillman delivered eighteen points and
nine rebounds in her first start of the season. Now,
by the end of the night, Atlanta approved seventy to eleven,
(19:44):
seventeen to eleven and continue to build serious momentum head
into that back half of the season. Now, listen, there's
more news out of the Dream camp. The Dream announced
Dave sign guard Camilla Smalls to a seven day contract. Now,
this five foot ten guard out of James Madison University
(20:05):
was originally drafted twenty eighth overall by Indiana. Fever in
twenty twenty, Small Tests appeared in ten career WNBA games,
with Indiana and Minnesota, averaging three point one points, two
point assists, and of course one point three rebounds in
just over thirteen minutes per contest. Now, with Smalls joining
the roster and the Dream hitting up, the back half
(20:27):
of the season just got a little bit more interesting.
But now, speaking on WNBA moments that had everyone talking,
let's talk a little bit about July twenty sixth match. Yes,
that was between NUS Mercury and the Washington Mystics. Now,
late in the third quarter, Mercury guard Khalia Carper made
(20:48):
a sharp move around a screen when in the chaouse
her wig got caught on Mistics guard Jay Melbourne and
slipped right off onto the court. The unexpected mishap forced
an impromptu time out, and of course, the clips spread
across social media in record time. But despite the interruptions, listen,
(21:09):
Carper came back, composed and locked in. She helped the
Mercury extend their lead to double digits by the end
of the third quarter. And Phoenix went on to close
out the game with the eighty eight to seventy two win. Now, listen,
not everyone in the arena handled it so gracefully though
a fan was called mocking Copper after the incident. Now,
(21:33):
players quickly pointed the fan out and let's just say
security showed up and then the fastest route was shown
to the fan to exit out of Okay, And that's
sports lovelace. It's how to snatch a win and shut
down that negativity all in one game. Look wigall game on.
(21:58):

Speaker 1 (23:46):
Look about Sports Lovelies. You know what time it is.
It's that time of the show where we're going to
talk about yes, our smh one moment. You're shaking your
head and saying, oh my gosh, did that really happen? Well,
love Lise. This week the smh MG moment took place
(24:06):
on yes home court at our Atlanta Dream Game, and
it was not one. It was two games. On Tuesday,
July twenty ninth, doing a matchup against the Golden State Valkyries,
a neon green let's just say adulte toy was thrown
onto the court. Yeah, and just when you thought it
couldn't get any wilder, it happened again on Friday, August. First,
(24:30):
the game against the Chicago Sky Like, what in the
world is happening here? Now? I don't know who's out
there treating WNBA games like an adult novelty show, but look, baby,
this is not that type of entertainment. Both incidents cast
outrage among players and fans, and of course, your girl,
(24:52):
the self proclinexpirasity state you carried eat off. I am
and rightfully so it's not. It's just not it's just
not acceptable. It's flat out just respectful. Look, we've hunt
the games for Becketts, blocks and buzzers, beaters, okay, not
(25:12):
better operating surprises. So let's just gave it classy, y'all.
And that is my smh Oundry moment for the week.
Be sure to check out chicks and Sports dot com

hit us up on the ground. And if you're listening
on iHeartRadio or Spotify, be.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
Sure to give us five stars.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
However, wherever you do it, let us know your thoughts
on social media coming at that to the break. It's
my special guess. Stay tuned, we'll be better. My next
(26:05):
guest is a powerhouse in the world of hair and health.
She's a PhD in pH biomedical scientist as a co
founder of Alidia Haircare in cleaned plant power brand rooted
in science and crafted especially for textured hair. Sports lovelies,
please welcome doctor Isfahan too. Chicks in the Sports Well
Doctors Fahan, thank you so much for joining Chicks in
(26:27):
the Sport Listen. You said that healthy hair starts with
healthy scalp. Can you break that down for our listeners
and what are a few simple science so on scalp
might need more attention?
Speaker 6 (26:40):
Yes, yes, great question. Well, first of all, thank you
so much for having me. You know, I when I
think of the scalp, it definitely is the root of
healthy hair growth because you have your follow calls that
sit in the scalp, and the follow coal is the
component of the scalp that houses the part of the
(27:00):
hairstrand that's actually living. So you know, if you're not
taking care of that scalp, then the hair that's coming
from that scalp can start in a very unhealthy state.
And this is the reason why it's extremely important to
understand and be aware of what's going on with your scalp.
I think for someone that you know, they really just
(27:22):
want to understand how can they know if their scalp
is healthy? Like I always tell my customers, definitely, quote unquote,
listen to your scalp. How does your scalp feel? Is
it tight? Does it feel hot or sensitive to touch?
Is it itchy? Do you have any plaques or do
(27:42):
you have any cuts or things of that nature on
your scalp? Are there like bumps that are itchy on
your scalp? Definitely use your senses. You know your your
the way it feels and the way it looks. Is
it flaky to let you know how your scalp is doing,
and that will let you know if your scalp is
(28:05):
imbalanced or if it's inbalance. So yeah, so would I
would definitely tell the customer or the person that's wanting
to know more about the scalp to do.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
That absolutely well. I guess my question is what advice
would you give to those who just kind of feel
overwhelmed or just unsure about where to start?
Speaker 6 (28:27):
Okay, So I would say, firstly, do that. So you
want to make sure that your scalp is how it's
feeling and how it's looking. And then from there, if
you're finding that you have certain issues, if there's like thinning,
or if it is inflamed or hot to touch, definitely
see a dermatologist. If it's a serious situation where you're
(28:47):
losing a lot of hair or you're seeing thinning, inflammation,
and things of that nature, I definitely recommend that they
see a dermatologist so they can get an adequate understanding
of what's going on and get a treatment plan. If
it's something like you know, flaking or you know, I
have some itchiness or things of that nature, I wouldn't
(29:10):
say you have to just run to the dermatologists. It's
not as serious as like thinning and things of that nature.
I always point them to Alodea, my company, and our
SCALP line because it helps with balancing out that scout microbiome,
which a lot of times is in balance. And you know,
they can use the Scalp Therapy system and it's a
(29:33):
line of four different products that you use, you know,
one through four steps and it should take care of
balancing out that scout microbiome and just helping to get
it back on track.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Awesome, Now you did mention Alodi it Now can we
talk a little bit about what are some of your
favorite powerhouse ingredients in your product and why are they
so effective for textured here?
Speaker 3 (29:58):
Yeah, you know, I think you you know.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
What makes allodea different from texture hare care brands that
are on market is that we not only use like
basic cosmetic ingredients. Now what do I mean by that?
So basic cosmetic ingredients are ingredients that help to cleanse
the hair or moisturize the hair, or they can have
(30:21):
a functional component where they're helping to thicken up the
formula or you know, provide like film forming like in
regards to like gels and things of that nature. We
of course use those types of ingredients. They're very necessary
when you're creating products. But in addition to those basic
cosmetic ingredients, we're using, as scientists and physicians, bioactive compounds
(30:47):
within our products. Now, what are bioactive compounds? They are
They are ingredients that have a biological component to them,
and they affect your scalp and your scalp follicle on
a cellular and molecular level. So we use ingredients like
niacinamide or sarcasine, lactic acid peptides. These ingredients. They have
(31:10):
those physical attributes of helping to soften and make your
scalp feel supple, but they also interact with your scalp
and your follicle on a molecular level with regards to
balancing out the scalt microbiome or helping to increase hair
growth or you know those types of like cellular and
(31:31):
molecular things. And I think that that's what's so much
different when you look at alodea versus other texture products.
We actually have efficacy and clinical based ingredients within our products.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
Oh amazing. But you know what, doctor, I want you
just to kind of take a glimpse back in time
and just tell me what inspired you to just be
where you are right now. And I guess talk a
little bit about just the early days and what just
kept you going through those early days.
Speaker 6 (32:04):
Yeah, so you know, Alodia, even the thought about Alodia
started back about fifteen years ago, in twenty ten to
twenty twelve. At the time I graduated from Morehouse School
of Medicine, Atlanta, and I was starting my hair Yes,
and I always have to shout my alma mater out
and I started yes, yes, And I started my career
(32:27):
at Vanderbilt Medical Center. I was a research scientist working
on a clinical trial that disproportionately looks at that looks
at a disease that disproportionately affects Black American women. It's
called sarkadosis. It's an auto immune disease, much like lupus.
And the reason why it kind of weaves into Alodia's
(32:48):
story is because right around that time, like so many
black women, I was struggling with my hair. So my
hair was extremely thin, broken, barely reaching my shoulders. My
scalp was so so itchy, and you know, I was
I was self conscious about it. And while I was
working as a scientist on this trial, helping to enroll
(33:11):
these black women, I started to see myself reflected in them.
You know, we had the same type of relaxed tear
that was highly damaged basically, and you know, I started
to think, what if the ingredients that are in our products,
that are in those relaxes, that are in our product's
skin here and makeup, could in part be contributing to
(33:35):
the start of this disease. You know, it was just
something that occurred to me because I saw them, I
saw myself in them, So I decided to say to myself,
I'm a scientist, let me try to come up with
something that could help me with my little superficial problem
having like breakage and that type of thing, but maybe
(33:56):
it could have a larger impact on our community. So
that I'm creating this product. It has efficacy, it has clinicals,
it's created by me, a black woman's scientist, and it
could be a product line that women can trust for
themselves and their families. So that's kind of how a
Aldea began, just me being a scientist and making certain observations.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
Oh my gosh, that is so inspiring. But I guess
my question to you is, what do you just wish
more people knew when shopping for just products, especially for
this natural hair community with the curly coley and the
kinky textures. Just talk about what do you wish more
people knew about what to look for in certain products.
Speaker 6 (34:41):
Yeah, that's a good question, I would say. You know,
I know with us, we really want to empower and educate.
So I think one thing is to like do your
research on these products a lot of times, particularly not
the black founded products, but the ones that are coming
out out of like these conglomerates. Their only interest is profit,
(35:06):
so they're putting a lot of like really cheap ingredients.
And okay, it's one thing if they're cheap, but they're cheap,
and they could be toxic ingredients in the products. And
you know, I oftentimes, as a scientist, wonder why we
have a lot of like diseases, autoimmune diseases, lupus and
those types, and you have to wonder if it's in
(35:28):
part the ingredients that are in our products. We have
so much more times the rate of toxic ingredients in
products that are geared towards Black women when when you
compare it to like white women products. So you just
have to wonder if those ingredients are causing like illnesses
in our community. So I think number one, just research
(35:51):
the products that you want, or you can just come
to Aloda. We've done the research for you. And then
a lot of times, another thing that I hear is
that black women and because curly here, it can be
difficult to grow if you don't know what you're doing.
But I often hear the myth that, oh, black hair
doesn't grow, or you know, I have kinky black hair,
(36:13):
it's never going to grow. That's just not an option
for me. And if there is a black woman that
has long, healthy hair, she's mixed with something. But I
think that's a huge myth, and I think that we
just have to understand that the reason why our hair
is looking like it's not growing, it's because we have
a breakage problem. So our hair is breaking just as
(36:34):
much as it grows. So you have to find products
that are going to moisturize, nourish, and have those types
of bioactives in them that are going to overtime help
you retain the length that you are growing every single month.
And that's what Alodia Alodea understands. Us as scientists, we
understand and we're creating products to help with that. So
(36:56):
those would be like the two things that I would
say to your audience.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
Awesome now, good question for you. Success right What does
success look like for you right now? Is it product growth,
more education, community outreach, or just something else entirely?
Speaker 6 (37:17):
I would say, I would say all three. I would say,
you know, for us, it's all about doing these types
of shows, just getting that awareness up to let people
understand what makes Aloda so different. You know, why should
they shop with us? And so that's number one. We
need more awareness. We want everyone to know about us,
(37:39):
and then just helping our customer. If we get so
many messages a week saying that you know, I had
dermatitis all my life and now it's gone, or my
hair is finally retaining length, like to me, that is
success because that's what Aloda is rooted in. Just we're
extremely passionate about creating products that actually help our customer
(38:02):
base in our community.
