Speaker 1 (06:14):
Struck first in thirty second minute, given the visitors a
one in lea. Now Atlanta pushed back hard, but despite
chances from Jamal Deair and Miguel Almorun, the first half
ended one inn ol. Now, the second half was a
little bit tricky because we saw Atlanta turn up the heat.
Jada Hebert made some key saves, but in the sixty
first minute Miguel calmly converted a pilmity to tie yes

(06:38):
one and one. So listen, the final minutes were full
of drama. It was block shots, free kits in fierce
defensive place from Brooks Lennon and Ronald Hernandez. So in

Moment and listen. Listen, Sports Lovelace.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
We will be diving into complicated legacy of childhood khons
and asking a tough question, can you still love the
character when the truth about the person behind it hits
way too close home?

Speaker 2 (18:16):
Hmm? Think about that one stick around because we'll be bad.
What O my god. Oh no she didn't.

Oh no, she didn't. Oh oh no, that's for journey,
welcome back on, come back to sports and lovely.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
It is that time.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Our smh ong moment is upon us, and today's smh
ng moment is going to be a reflection of respect
and real talk listen. Former ww you superstar David Otanga
is opening up about his choice to remember Hawkgan on
TMD Life. Altanga shared that while the man behind the bandana,

(19:10):
Terry Blaya, made reprehensive racist comments that can't be ignored,
the character of Haul Cogan still holds a special place
in his heart.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Now. Oldtanga, a two time tag team.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Champion Sa Hawkamania inspired his career and personally, Hogan always
treated him well even post scandal. But Otanga made it
clear good interactions don't a race. Hard truth now, Honestly,
as a woman of color who grew up in Proul
Holster herself, I've held that, you know, I had the poster.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
I tried to tear off my shirt, you know, like
a mini maniac.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Hogan was larger than life, so hearing that tight years
later and other allegations.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
To follow yeah, it's son deep. It felt light betrayal
because we thought he was for all of us. But
here's there's the t and here's the truth, and here's
my smh omg.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
We can honor what something meant to us then while
still holding people accountable now. So whether you're flexing in
your yellow and red or confronting the flaws behind the fame,
just remember heroes aren't perfect, and neither are we. But
we grow by facing the truth, not hiding from it.
And that is my smh omg moment for the week.

(20:28):

your thoughts on social media. Coming up after the break
is my special guests. Stay tuned, We'll be bad. My

(21:03):
next guest is the founder of career Nomad, a global
platform dedicated to transforming how professionals naviate their careers. Sports levelies,
please welcome Patrice Williams Lindell too. Jickson, a sports o Patrees. Welcome, Welcome,
Welcome to Chickson the Sports You've gained Remido's visibility recently.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
With career No Bad.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
What is for you to create this platform and the movement?

Speaker 3 (21:30):
You know, thank you so much for having me, Yakiri,
I would say what's inspired me more than anything else
is that I don't believe in ladders.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
I believe in playgrounds.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
I really work in a place where the work is
about breaking the rules, you know, reworking the rules because
a lot of times those systems weren't necessarily created for
everybody to thrive. So I help people to rebrand that
power so that the world can ignore them because they
need what we have. And I did that for myself
first and then closer friends and family members, and then

(22:03):
I was like, you know what, this is a platform
making type operation. Let's go out in the world and
see what they can do with this art. And so
that was the I'm going to say beginnings of career nomad.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
Now, you talked a lot about career reinvention. What does
that really mean and why is it so important in
today's work environment?

Speaker 3 (22:25):
You know, career reinvention means that you are wired to
skip the line. And when I say skip the line,
I don't mean it in an nefarious way. I just mean,
how can you stack your skills?

Speaker 4 (22:38):
You know, how can you make the decision to burn.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
Bridges when necessary and make the work bend to who
you are instead of the other way around, Because those
are the only things you can do to really avoid
things like burnout and challenging workplaces and that sort of
because those things are going to always exist, right, But
how do we really get it to a place where
it's a reset in your DNA? So this is where
I say, you know, okay, if you start with your

(23:03):
own internal strategy. So for example, myself, I started out
in health care. I did some sales, you know, I
did some teaching and education. But what that meant was, okay,
what are you really good at?

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Girl?

Speaker 4 (23:15):
Like, okay, what can you do with those things?

Speaker 3 (23:17):
So the good at was good with people able to
take complex things and break them down into like understandable pieces,
so that people felt like.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
Oh, okay, I have a handle on this.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Let's try it so fast, experimentation, trusting your gut right
over what they said the rules are like kind of like,
well we've.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
Always done it.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
That way kind of thinking and then refusing to shrink
what your range is, so you're not only good at
one thing. So, like I said, I did health care,
i did education, I've done sales, I've had a family,
you know, grocery store.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
What are the common things there?

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Right?

Speaker 3 (23:49):
So the common things there are people, right helping people
to understand the benefits, for example, of something or the
gotchas of something. And it's doing so is in a
way where you just you meet the moment where it
is you no longer are just in this box of
being just a teacher in school. You can be a

(24:11):
teacher when you work for healthcare. You can be a
teacher when you work in technology, you can be a
teacher when you work in any industry.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
Right, But now, how can you really create that nuance?

Speaker 3 (24:22):
And so, especially in a world like today where AI
and disruption are rewriting the playbook, have to reinvent that's
the only game left or you are going to be,
as they say, left out on the field while everybody
else is moving forward.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
Absolutely, I agree one thousand Fast said, but you know what,
it seems like you've been everywhere. You've been featured in
so many outlets in just the past two months. What
do you think has fuelled that momentum and how has
it impacted your journey?

Speaker 4 (24:52):
Oh listen, So I'm gonna tell you this curiosity does
not kill the cat.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
I don't know if I'm aging myself, but I know
that's how they raise us, right, you know, stick to
the you know.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
Stick to the evil.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
You know.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
No, this momentum is proof that curiosity and audacity scale
faster than perfection. So done is better than perfect. So
I respond to the world in real time. So when
layoff hits, you know, when culture shifts, when they're talking
about AI eating entry level jobs or wait a minute,
you know, we do need people that have been in
the industry for twenty years because they have a little

(25:24):
wisdom on top of the excellent, you know, skills in
whatever area work they're in. I don't wait six months
to write a paper about it. I speak about it,
I post it, I name it, you know. And media
gravitates to that kind of raw honesty because it's like
in the moment, but it's also informed and it also
gives a way out or way through, so it cuts

(25:45):
through that noise. It really silences that echo chamber.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
Point of view.

Speaker 3 (25:50):
So impact wise, it's really just a reminder that visibility
favors those who move, you know, with a sense of speed,
a sense of clarity, and not waiting for permission. Now
does that mean that you don't make mistakes or that
you didn't misspeak unintentionally. No, but it also gives you
room to say, you know what, guys, this is what
I thought. But now that we have more time to

(26:10):
dig a little deeper, we need to pivot a little bit,
or you may need to think about this additionally. So
it is a space where you create grace in addition
to agility.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
Now, just looking ahead, you're working to share stages and
conversations with leaders like Oprah Winfrey and Sarah Jates Roberts. Now,
what would just say your legacy? Do you have to
leave to just your work and career with them?

Speaker 4 (26:38):
Matt, Liberation comes with alignment.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
So for me, I was always like, you know, you're
talking to someone who was going to go to medical school, right,
And when I was to date myself, when I was
graduating from high school in nineth Jeende and Nungry, I
was like, well, heck.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
You know that's a long time away.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
You know, you know for years of undergrad and seven
years of school, and you know residencies and such and
such and such. No, No, there are many paths, for example,
to helping people at scale, There are many paths you know,
to being alchemic.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
In how you are going about it.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
That was what I was looking for, to create the
impact where I can help people, people that look like me,
people that you know may feel stuck and stop dragging
themselves through careers that drain them, but instead really creating
that work, that line, that lane for themselves that matches
their wiring. So if my journey shows anything it's that
you can break every traditional rule and still build a

(27:39):
global platform.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
That's what this is.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
Like, I didn't ask anybody. I was like, well, does
anybody see that there that this can be done?

Speaker 3 (27:46):
Like hey, you can take your skills from a teacher
and turn that into consulting and like triple your income
when played right now? Is it always going to be
that No, we're watching that disintegrade right in.

Speaker 4 (27:57):
Front of us.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
But how can you literally use whatever skills you have
to build your platform? And it doesn't mean to impact millions,
It could mean just to impact you and your family
and your generation.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
Or you could decide you want to scale it. And
I want the next.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Generation to see that, you know, to see that their
careers are not you know, climbing the ladder. It's a
playground where they get to choose a couple different things.
And so that's the imprint. I'm leaving freedom, audacity, and
proof that you can succeed without betraying yourself.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Yes, I love that.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
I love that though, Patrice.

Speaker 2 (28:29):

Oh You're never still a sports shirt? This is a
sports show.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
Is there any particular team you were like to shout
out before we leave? Oh?

Speaker 4 (30:16):
My goodness, is there a team that I want to
shout out before I leave? So I will tell you
I'm a bit of a Bay Area girl, So okay,
you know, when it comes to all things, you know, basketball.
I'm a little bit of a Warriors girl, so I'd
like to shout out the Warriors. They are my faves.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
And I will tell you I lived in the Bay
Area for about ten years, and I lived there when
Steph Curry was doing his Steph Curry thing, like he
was walking with the backpack way before he was.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
Steph Curry with, you know, all the kids and all
the things. So I would say the Warriors, they're my girls. Okay,

you so much for truth sports Lovely.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
It's twenty twenty five. Nunits continues to be all around.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
I swear if there was any such person, I am she,

major wins throughout my life, which has always been my motivation.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Find yourself feeling like me, remember an L it's just
an ois shaped W and it's all about your mindset, okay.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
But most importly, sometimes you have to just lose to
win in the game of life. Remember, dreams don't come
true

Speaker 1 (32:20):
