Speaker 1 (00:03):
Time to check your Coding Break. Welcome back to the
Coding Break podcast with your favorite coding coach, tamp Talk.
You'll just talk about all the things good, bad, as
well as the ugly as it relates to the medical
coding industry. So on this episode, I am serving as
a reminder for you all to secure your ICD ten

(00:24):
CM codes for twenty twenty six. For those of you
who are new, the twenty twenty six coast go into
effect on October first of this year, so you have
less than really two weeks to obtain your ICD ten
CM twenty twenty six books or have access to those

(00:45):
twenty twenty seats code updates. So based upon AI as
I'm reviewing, there are four hundred and eighty seven new
diagnosis codes that were added. There has been thirty eight
codes that will revised and twenty eight codes that were
invalidated or deleted. Again, there are four hundred and eighty

(01:06):
seven new diagnosis codes that were added for twenty twenty six,
and there were thirty eight coasts that were revised and
twenty eight codes that were invalidated or deleted for twenty
twenty six, and again these codes go into effect October first,
twenty twenty five, which is less than two weeks away.
So some of the specific code examples where there may

(01:28):
have been new codes added, revised, or deleted. One is
chronic ulcers. There has been a release of one hundred
new codes for chronic non pressure ulcers and these are
categorized by site and severity pain codes. There are new
specific codes for pelvic and peraneal pain. It's going to

(01:50):
replace the previous general code and this is a new
one for me Cannabis hyper andmesis syndrome. Cannabis hyper amesis
syndrome ORHS. It's a new code and that code is
R to report Cannabis hyperamesis syndrome or CHS. There are

(02:11):
nine new codes for islid inflammation. These codes are going
to be more site specific, again to replace the general
code of H zero one point eight, and of course
there's other digits that come after that, but the base
code or the home code is H zero one point eight. Again,
this is in regards to the olid inflammation. They have

(02:31):
released nine are going to release nine new codes that
are going to be more site specific, and again this
is to replace the general codes. Now we're moving on
to the neoplasms. Again, this is a cancers neoplasms malignant
now malignant in cite you on certain behavior type codes
or the table. They have new codes that are specific

(02:53):
for the malignant inflammatory breast neuroplasm. Again, there are new
codes that are going to be released for malignant inflammatory
breast neoplasm. Now we're moving into the infectious diseases. There
are new codes for infestation by Dima dex mites and
other curiosis. I may be pronouncing it incorrectly. Again, it's
a kuriosis and Dema dex mites. What is it? I

(03:18):
have to do research that I've never heard of that.
And then the last but not least, as related to
symptoms and signs, there are new codes for conditions like
jaw claudication which is represented by R six eight point
eight four. Again the again symptoms of jaw cloudication. Excuse me.

(03:39):
This fallows under symptoms and signs or signs and symptoms category.
And there are new new codes for conditions like jaw cloudication.
Again that's R six eight point eighty four. Again. These
the coasts, the categories or the samples I just mentioned
or related to ic, d T and CM, which is
those assigned for your diagnosis. But then and for those

(04:00):
of you who don't know or those of you who
also utilize i CDTN PCs, ICDTNPCS has to do with
the procedures save procedural services, and you may find ICDTNPCS
codes commonly used in the Mpatient said that this is
for our facility coders. So if we dab into that
or jump into that, there are new codes and tables

(04:25):
for cdtnpcs. And again they're saying that they've added one
hundred and fifty six new codes and four new tables. Ooh,
one hundred and fifty six new codes and four new tables. Now,
the new procedural table zero C one is for chryco
thyroiotomy procedures in the mouth and throat, and I repeat
that cry code thyroidotomy procedures in the mouth and throw.

(04:50):
And then there's new procedure table code for again zero
nine X for transfer procedures in the ear, the nose
and the sinus systems. And then other enhancements which is
another table, and this is for new codes and body
part characters, improve reporting for procedures such as those involve
in the Dourer motel, which is in the head of

(05:12):
the brain, the spinal minng's and nominate artery and nasal system,
so they're going deeper again. This is in reference to
the Dourer model, the spinal mining's and nominate artery and
nasal system. And again these codes all go into effect
or take place on October first of twenty twenty five. Again,

(05:34):
so as from October first to twenty twenty five to
September thirty of twenty twenty six, there's also been some
guideline updates and again per AI, while major guideline changes
for minimum new examples were added for new technology guidelines
and the impact These updates enhance clinical specificities for accurate

(05:54):
reporting and reflect advances in medical knowledge and terminology. And
so for those of you who aren't able to afford
the new books at this time, I have actually have
the new code listing as well as the new ICD
ten guidelines on my website and you're able to download

(06:15):
it for free so that you can at least have
access to it until you're able to afford your ICD
ten twenty twenty six manual. Again, I have the lad
uploaded the ICD ten CM codes for twenty twenty six
as well as the ICD ten twenty twenty six coding
guidelines on my website, and I will leave that in

(06:35):
the description box. Again, you're welcome to go to the
resource page your tab on my website and download that
information for free. Again, as I mentioned, there are a
lot of changes that are occurring within the ICD ten
realm for twenty twenty six. As mentioned, some of those

(06:55):
are include new diagnoses and new guidelines to support or
the advancements and healthcare as it relates to technology. So again,
you wanna be able to t want th You wanna
make sure you're able to review those codes uh S
s S, especially if you're in a specific specialty and
what I've mentioned does impact or has an effect on

(07:17):
your particular specialty. You want to make sure you are
up to date with that, with those codes, or at
least have those A have access to those I UH
codes come October first, because those codes will go into
effect October first of this year, again, which is less
than two weeks away. So again, you wanna make sure
you have that information. So yeah, so uh, of course

(07:41):
we're gonna as we get into the code and break
more episodes, we're gonna devel a little deeper into some
of the changes that they have that h that are
c we that are we are are that are closely
are vastly approaching. I may uh create some more uh
drill downs as relates to the new codes and how
to by the guidelines and their new codes and different

(08:04):
coding examples of scenarios. But yes, so again this is
your reminder to get your twenty twenty six ICIT ten
CM codes again because those go those codes go into
effect as well as the guidelines going to effect October
first of twenty twenty five, where again which is less
than two weeks away. So that's all that I have
for this coding break. I am going to go ten

(08:27):
to my AC Yes, so right now I am, I
am perspiring. Yeah, too much information, but that's all that
I have for this week. Again your reminder go access
or get access to your twenty twenty six ICIT ten
CM codes and coding guidelines. Until next time, take care

(08:51):
and code on tootles
