Speaker 3 (02:22):

This is CWK Parover. Thanks for joining us so very much.
We are very excited to talk with you. You, of course

because you are a member of the CWK alliance. You
keep the quaxium pumping through our inerts. Inert two shows
have ors, It doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
That's a weird topic.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
But you know, this is a weird topic, and it's
a fun topic. This is a topic that came up.
You may have seen earlier that Coca Cola announced that
both the co brand and Coke Zero have worked in
tandem with Lucasfilm to create thirty different Star Wars Coca
Cola cokec cans, including the packaging itself. I can't wait

(03:14):
because I am just such a big fan of this
kind of stuff. I love Coke Zero anyway, but it's
gonna be fun. I actually joked with my family before
we recorded tonight that, hey, you know how I was
at the store recently and I bought like two or
three twelve packs of Coke Zero. Well, since Star Wars
is going to be on these, we're gonna have to
start washing the dishes and washing our faces and a

(03:38):
washing everything with coke. Get rid of the coke. I
have a second by more of the Coke Star wars
see what do you guys think of those designs?

Speaker 2 (03:45):
So my question is designs are fantastic. It's weird because
it's it's coke. Previously it was it was pepsid.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yeah, back during yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
And so that's kind of a weird initiation by you know,
holds the right. So I guess, but I'll be curious.
Will you got the cans as you open them up?
Is it just you get what you get or is
there certain flavoring or diets they get you a specific.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
It's only coke and coke zero, so you just you
can either buy them like at a gas station, or
just buy them by the case of the twelve pack.
And I think it's like if you happen to get
the Darth Vader twelve pack all folds of Darth Vader.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Oh, so you haven't got it yet.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
No, they don't come out to like July seventh.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Oh, I've seen I think I've seen around dude, Did
you buy any I probably should.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
So there's a they're they're nationwide, Well, they might be
farther need. But there's also certain cans that are only
available at disney World and Disneyland knows are the Mandalorian,
the first Order Stormtrooper, and I think maybe a Soka.
I'm not sure. I'm not sure of that third one,
but either way, I've already got my.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
People on it.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
I'm very excited, Tom, you have this at all. I
don't know, I'm gonna go crazy. Probably.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Well, I was just looking here. I saw, I saw,
I saw the picture that's that was floating around in
Coffee Knob and other uh some like textremes and things
of the cokes in their chests and things. But I
hadn't really taken a close look until just now. But
I see that to get some of that, I don't

(05:24):
see any statement of that they show up. Oh so
wait a second. There are three designs that are exclusive
to Disneylyan and Walt Disney World. Those are the Mandalorian
and Grogu, first Order storm Trooper, and a Chewbacca. Yeah,
and so it looks like those cool have to buy

(05:47):
specific can like specific types. So like Darth Vader is
not in regular coke, he is in Coke zero or
zero sugar. Yes, Grogu is just on Goke zero, whereas
Bulba Fat Didn'tja are in Cassie nandor are all original tastes,
so you're gonna need to diversify your taste a bit

(06:07):
where you're only in trying to get them all correct.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
They would they would not do diet coke or cherry
coke or well.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
To me, that just means those are their best sellers,
and so they're just not going to mess around, do
you know what. I'm sad?

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah, I see. Okay, so the designs, designs look cool.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
I'm I'm very excited. I drink coke all the time anyway,
so I'm super psyched for this.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
You guys just gonna whatever.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Or uh, It's more like, uh, if I find them,
maybe I'll get some. And yes, have to come across
the moments of strike. I'm not gonna go strike, you know,
go out and hunt them down necessarily.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
I swear to you their view will be surprised by this.
When I heard this announcement, I like was so excited
about it, And when I went to sleep, I actually
had a dream that I was combing gas stations looking
for these things. I think that's called obsession. I've got
the list here. Tom gives some original taste of coke
Eslando Obi Wan Kenobi Padme, Kyler Ren Ah Soka, Darth

(07:12):
Ball K two, s O, Bubba Fett, Po Dammern, Mando,
Cassidy and or General Grievis and Palpatine, Coke, Zero, Vader, Yoda, Lea, Anakin, Luke,
chewy On b B A three p O R two
Fin Ray, Grogu and the Stormtrooper. And as Tom mentioned
at the theme parks Mando and Grogu for stret storm

(07:33):
Trooper and Chabaka. And they've also got this ar thing
where you can like play with like different augmented realities
and all this kind of business is it?

Speaker 4 (07:42):
So? Is it?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
You open the package, you get all whoever character you get,
you get all twelve cans or the.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
Yeah, yeah, I think I don't think the very that's
hard to collect. Then I know I know what's it's
gonna call it player. So this hall came up because
there is a very. Of course, we're all Stars collectors
to various degrees. Well I shouldn't say, of course, maybe
some of you aren't, and good for you if you're not,
because it's gonna see a lot of space.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
In your home. U huh.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
But there are there are so many things that have
the Star Wars label on them. And have been for
almost fifty years. So we're gonna look at the most unique, eccentric,
unusual Star Wars collectibles and kind of give our top fives. Now,
these could be ones that we actually have, that we
have seen, or maybe we just found out about by
researching for this particular CWK prover. Either way, it's gonna

(08:33):
be fun Corey, how'd you come up with this list?

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Oh? Boy? You know it's funny because you gotta We
obviously have our little text stream and we kind of
debate what that really means with the parameters, with the bounds,
with the rules, no ties, and just knowing like that,
Like like I think tom bdge like probably begin like
how we start this list. That's kind of where I
was at too. I was like, I've seen some things

(08:57):
that are kind of weird. You know, you pass the
store and you're like, oh, oh wait, what is this?
It says Star Wars on it. You look at it,
you're like, what wait, what is this? Either like decipher
what it is, Oh, it's a dog collar or it's
a who knows what, you know, it's just a random
thing and it's like, oh, it's it's interesting. And then
like oh, I have a dog. This would be great
for my dog. I love Star Wars Boom, should I fandom?

(09:18):
I'm done? Or another thing you might find. It might
be a you know, I don't know, a doormat, a
Star Wars doormat that says wipe your paws or wipe
your I don't know something there your.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Lights I don't know, wipe your lightsaber.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Yeah that's right. So I feel like some things I
take a pass on and have a good little laugh
in the store. But are things I'm like, oh, this
is actually pretty cool and unique. I might use this,
but there's all kinds of things out there. I just
find it interesting who I play the game of who
is buying this on a lot of things like when
I come across like that, or flavors of certain things

(09:58):
like who are who's eating this? But this is deally
kind of catch all? How can my list was? I
was impressed with how much I remembered from over the years,
and also doing research went on a dark, deep hole
of there's some weird stuff out there, something I've never
had ever seen before, but fascinating things, some fun things,

(10:20):
and I'm excited to talk to you guys about it.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
Tom what about you. Do you do you do you
anything on your list? Do you actually own Corey? Do
you do you anything on your list? Do you actually have?

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Yes, look here I do. There's something on that on
my list that I actually have.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Yeah, I have, Yeah, I have one.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
I could there's probably like thirty or forty I could
come up with, but I forced myself to come up
with just five. This could be anent. How exciting.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
I have one item, It's on my list. But I
kind of building off what Corey said, I wasn't real
sure where to start. So interestingly, I have a in
my Google Photos. I have an album that I created
probably well, I created it over the pandemic and it

(11:09):
was it's called Star Wars Out and About and it's
when I come across Star Wars things in just kind
of funny places. And at some point I started adding
pictures of products that.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
I was like, what cool? Okay cool?

Speaker 4 (11:25):
So I went there and I went to I thought,
if I'm going to find something really unique, let me
go to and I went to eBay and to look
and see what's out there for sale that people are selling,
and maybe there's some unique things there. And then I
don't know I put a question into the machine, and

(11:46):
it brought me to a Reddit page that really, as
you mentioned, Corey, really got kind of weird. But it
gave me a couple of ideas, and it gave me
what should probably be number one on everybody's list.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
It's not.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
I didn't put on mine because I knew it would
be probably show up on yours somewhere. But and if
it doesn't, I'll mention it at the end.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
But I bet I know you're going to say I
want to ruin it.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
But yeah, yeah, we'll just save it for later. But
that's that was sort of my my way around it.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Cool, all right, well, why don't we just kick this
thing off, Tom, I go ahead with your first one,
most unique, most eccentric star, Yes, collectibles.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Yeah, so this thing, I don't Again, I don't know
how unique it is. It says it's unique when I
went to look at the page for eBay on this.
It comes from the twenty twelve celebrations. So maybe you
one of you might remember this or have seen this before,
but I.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Just am like, I don't know that this.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
I just this is to your question, Corey, who's buying this?

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (12:52):
But I'm there are plenty of people. And so what
I found was a ceramic Gamorian guard piggy bank.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
It justs like of its face.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Let me get let me see if I can describe
it for you. Let me look at a picture of it.
It's a it's so it's I'm sorry, it's not its face.
Well it's face, of course, but it stands on stands
on four legs, stands on four legs like a like
a piggy bank does. The front half is like a

(13:27):
question face of the Gamorian, and then the back is
sort of the rear end of the Gamorian with his
little taily thing like a pig a tail with the
curly tail, and he has his tusks sticking out. And
I'll be honest with you, if I didn't know Star Wars,
I would think the person that bought this was pretty
disturbed because it is a green, mean looking pig with

(13:50):
armor and.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
A squidly tail.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
It can easily be an orc.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Have you seen it?

Speaker 4 (13:55):
Are you looking at it?

Speaker 1 (13:56):
No? But I remember seeing the picture of.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
It would be.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Just the way you described it. Yeah, so sounakness. So
we'll do. Have it need it wanted or no things?
Habit needed I guess needed one is the same, so
habit needed or no thanks, that's no thanks for me. Okay,

(14:24):
yeah enough, Corey, what's your what's your first one?

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (14:29):
I remember, I can't remember seeing that a celebration for
some reason, like through that little that little section where
you could like they had merchandise for the con. So
the classics, My first one is a classic. I distinctly
remember having these. I It's funny enough because you know,
growing up in Star Wars, I didn't grow up in
the seventies, didn't have you know, the whole wam mam

(14:50):
muzzle like you know, overtake stuff, and it literally hit theaters.
But when the special additions came out, this was a
big deal. I'm sorry, not special, the Phantom Menace. So
that was the resurgent of you know, the prequels and
Star Wars was kind of kicking off again and so
that was kind of like big in my world, and
it was it was episode one. It was a big deal.
This is George Lucas back at it again doing his thing,

(15:12):
and they were they just pushed everything out. There was everywhere.
I think remember two things one and the PEPSI had
the giant like it was like the Dispenser's uh with
the Giant Episode one, I think Anakin was on there
with goggles on or something like that. I remember that
my mind walking past us and saying, wow, that's that's huge,

(15:33):
like that I've ever seen it before. And then of
course episode one, uh, collectible cans. We talked about the
cook cans, the Pepsi one. My brother other Oldsborg or
Phil had them. We had like this a window where
he had this like top, I don't know, shade or
balance that was like he was stack him up there,
but he kept him full, but he didn't open them,

(15:54):
and it was hit the Mountain Dude ones and the
Pepsi ones and like hit all of them. And I
thought that was the I don't know why I thought
it was cool. It was it was coold time to
have those collectable cans with all the characters, because I
think as fans that your that was your first little
glimpse of whose characters were. You know, oh, this is
Darth Maul or this is Droid or you know Anakin
or pad Mad. So it's like, wow, this is really cool,

(16:16):
and that's all we have. We didn't really have the
internet to go, you know, see and search and find
out and so it was a weird thing. But uh
we I don't why we kept them kept them full.
I guess just to feel like you had something collectible.
Uh And I don't know those cans are They're gone probably,
but that's what we had. The back of the editions.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
That is actually the first thing on my list.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Yeah, is that right?

Speaker 3 (16:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (16:43):
Oh yeah, I thought of So these were huge. Uh,
there were there were more options than this coke thing
because it was in like several different kinds. Anything that
was PEPSI was fagging, you know, yep, the cherries, the diets,
the regulars, everything. They had a specific black can that

(17:04):
was Anakin and Darth Vader on it, which was super
rare and I never had that one. They also had
an even rare gold can, yes, and I think if
you got that it came with some sort of a
cash prize, I believe. And I didn't have that one either,
but I had every other one. And I spent that

(17:25):
entire summer of nineteen ninety nine going to gas stations,
going to grocery stores. I actually threw PEPSI. I ordered
their display case. It was this big plastic display case,
so I could put them all in there, and then
I was I went that summer. I spent like a
week in Missouri at one of the lakes. Actually that's

(17:47):
a call back to the beginning of the show. And
they had, like you, all the different gas stations and
like convenience stores they had were on you had to
get to through boats. You had to go up to
different docks, so I would go. I went like a
bunch of different docks. I put the rope on the thing,
I jump out and run into the thing, and I
grabbed a pepsi and I found a bunch of them. Man,

(18:07):
the thrill of the hunt that was, besides like funting
for figures, looking for those cans was some of the
most fun I've ever had collecting. So and when I
actually move here, when you helped me to move, Corey,
I actually had all of them still and I threw
them away, like why do I have these? So now
I'm gonna buy all these cocines and probably do the
same thing.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
The experience.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
But I actually love coke and I just Pepsi's fine,
but I love coke. So it's like it's pretty fun.
So that's it's kind of inspired that great memory so
it's it's cool that you brought that up to Steve
Sanmswaitt and I talk about this a lot. In fact,
when the coke news came out here and I texted
back and forth quite a bit and made some jokes
about where are we gonna put all this coke?

Speaker 2 (18:49):
So yeah, okay, I gotta ask you, do you open
over or not open them?

Speaker 1 (18:53):
See that's the thing I know most collectors wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
I know.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
There is a thing where if you take like a
can opener and you open it from the bottom, from
the bottom, you can you can get it out and
get the soda out and just know where that this
rainley will explode later because that is a possibility.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Right, So that's pit hole just.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
Like basically, yeah, it's not easy to do, but then
you at least have it still sealed on top. I
still have a sealed water bottle from the Opening Galaxy
in twenty nineteen. All right, that's summer five, Tom back
to you four.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
By the way, that that doing the can opener on
the bottom comes from years ago, at least the first
place I encountered that is I had a friend who
had a beer can collection, and of course he didn't
want to open them. He didn't want to open them,
but he also didn't wasn't allowed to drink them, so
he would he would pop the bottom and drain them
and then put them up on his and rinse him
out and then put him up on his shelf. So

(19:55):
any anyhow, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, So my number three
is related to all of this because I remember these. Yeah,
I'm sorry, Yeah, number four. I worked in retail during
this whole time period we're talking about here with Phantom
Menace and the cans and all of that, and so
one of the oddest things but I thought was so

(20:16):
cool was, and I'm sure you'll remember, this is the
giant R two D two ice cooler that would sit
in the stores and they'd fill.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
With ice and they have it in.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
There, and I always wanted one of those. Now I
could get one for about four hundred and fifty dollars
now on on eBay. But I always thought that was
not strange but just super unique. And I was like,
how fitting you know that looks like R two D
two because they put the twos the lid on it,
and you could you would slide it because it was

(20:46):
like a double lid. It was. It was a clear plastic,
but then underneath was like his head that you would
slide reach in grab the soda, then you slide it
closed and and you know, you hope you're you're grabbing
a jar jar or the black can or the gold
can when you reach in there and get your hand
frozen while you're digging deep. But but I always thought

(21:07):
that Giant R two D two cooler was was really cool.
And again that comes right with your Anakin Skywalker vending
machine and all the other cool things that they were
doing at that time.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
I have it. I have that cooler.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
You that cooler? Yea, have I seen it? I don't
think i've that. I think I do.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
That's in the attic. Still have it? Yeah, I have it,
and it's audible mention. Yeah, a longal years and years ago.
His wife wanted him to part with it, and he
knew I would be someone that would want it, so
I bought it from him.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
That's cool.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
Yeah. I always ask my bosses if I could have it,
and they're like, no, we've already got somebody who's taking it.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
I yeah, yeah, I was gonna wait and say that
for the but I couldn't resist. Okay number four.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Okay, all right, this is something I was I found
amongst my scrolling adventures, and this is if you're a
Star Wars fan, this is the greatest debate of all time.
This is this is Star Wars history. Are you dark
Side or light Side? And now you can answer that

(22:24):
for yourself for forty dollars and free delivery. You guys
should get this thing today. I looked it up on Amazon.
This is a Darth Vader toaster and you can get
this and you push down Darth Vader's the bread down
in Darth Vader's body and it pops up and it's
his head and it looks like Darth Vader's face, and
there you go. You can get a little dark Side,

(22:44):
little light Side, and you know, it's functional. I think
a lot of these things were talking about are functional.
They're usable. It's just a kitchen item to to get
your breakfast goods in. And there you go. If you're
a stars fan, you're filmed like the dark Side turned
out setting way down, you go for it. I love it.

Speaker 4 (23:06):

Well the pepsi cans. I think at the time I
was I was all in if I was in that mentality.
Now I think, I go for it. Now you've got me,
You've got me a little hooked on the coke cans,
and I feel like I can go out and find something.
So we'll we'll, we'll see what happens. But for the toaster,
I think it's kind of fun. I mean, why not,
it's a toaster. I would say I would need it,
but it's like if somebody gifted to me, I'd be like,

(23:37):
oh it's cool, I'd use this.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Okay. So I'm in between, what did you h Okay,
So Tom, you want the r T D two cooler?
Still I take it?

Speaker 4 (23:48):

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
