Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Cold Cases Solved Podcast, a podcast that
shares the most recent solved cold cases. Our purpose is
to help bring closure to the victims' families and hope
for those waiting for justice. Let's begin well.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
A forty one year old cold case murder has been solved.
Michael Mannette Natt, seventy years old of Huntington Beach, was
taken into the custody. He was accused of murdering Ronald Gaski,
who was found dead in his Newport Beach home in
nineteen eighty three. Gasquetto was thirty five years old at

(00:40):
the time, was a construction worker who lived on the
four hundred block of Ligonia Street. His ex girlfriend was
asked to check on him when he failed to show
up for work at a Hollywood construction site. The woman
found Gasky lying face down in a hallway on the
second floor of his home. He had been clubbed on
the head and face with an unknown object in our top.
She later revealed Gasky was hit once on the back

(01:02):
of his head and as many as three times in
the face, so something happened either. He didn't completely knock
him out and decided to kill him through the face,
or there was incredible rage here, or at least rage.
I don't know about incredible. He died about two hours
after the beating. Police said there was a smudge of
blood on a door, but the house did not appear
to be ransacked, and there was no signs of a
fight or violent struggle, so he's surprised to attack them.

(01:25):
Loved ones and neighbors described Gasky as someone who was
greatly concerned with security and could be seen adding walls, trees,
and bushes to protect his home over the years. His
front door was closed not but unlocked by Gaskey's ex
girlfriend when she arrived they heard. Detectives later determined the
killer was likely someone Gasky knew. He was highly security minded,
and it seems very apparent that this was someone and

(01:45):
he knew, someone he invited into his home. He reportedly
had an elaborate alarm system, and several neighbors told police
who'd be out of character for him to leave his
front door unlocked. No murder weapon was found at the scene,
and no suspect was found. Over the years, Newport beat
detectives conducted interviews and collected evidence from Gaski's home, but
a suspect remained elusive. The case was recently reopened, and

(02:08):
after analyzing reports, studying evidence, and conducting additional interviews, detectives
finally identified Larry Manette as a suspect. Details on a
motive or his connection were not released by the investigators,
though Manette was arrested on suspicion of murder in December sixth,
and he's being held on one million dollar bail. So far,
they have not given us the information of how they've

(02:30):
determined it was him. Again, no motive was given. But
the good thing is at least they have a suspect
now for this individual. And I don't know if this
individual has family or not. We haven't heard that either.
That's it for now
