Four arrested for a double homicide cold case

It looks like four have been arrested in a cold case.
The GBI, or the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, has arrested
four individuals from the Thompson area and the murder investigation
of Sheryl Newsom and Troy Bennett after five years. They
have charged Randy Hall Or Thornton, Chance McKenna, and minor
with two accounts of murder. On Monday, August third, twenty twenty,

Newsom and Bennett were found dead in their home with
evidence to indicate a home invasion had occurred. Newsom was
a retired nurse and Bennett was a veteran and retired firefighter.
On August fourteenth, twenty twenty three, the GBI Cold Case
Union received a Coleman Baker Act application from Newsom and
Bennett's family requesting a review of the case. The Cold
Case Unit partnered with a GBI Regional Investigative office and

conducted in death review and analysis of the ongoing investigation.
Hall and Thornton were booked into the McDuffie County Jail.
McKenna is currently in custody in the Georgia Department
