Speaker 1 (00:00):
In not much.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
I'm looking at Slate truck.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
Just look at the Scout. A Scout Scouts of an
old American brand is being brought back with investment by Volkswagen.
But it's a fully electric vehicle. And they have two
different variations in suv and a truck and the there's
an option for a gas power generator to add more
(00:27):
mileage and it goes. It's a it's not it's an
add on. So it's not something was like put turned
like hook up and then take out. It's basically it's
a it's a trim level, but it adds. It goes.
It gets like give me the exact number of mileage,
but it adds a ton more like it doubles more
than doubles the mountains, like up to like five hundred
(00:48):
miles using that piece of what it does is a
gas power generator that basically creates electricity to run the motors.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Right.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Interesting, pretty needed, but that's about to come out. I
watched the video.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, I'm on their website right now and looks interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I was on I was reading refreshing.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Some some stuff on dig that I had Doug to
talk about, and it was an ad and I was like,
I remember seeing Scout or Scout Slate on jerrying everything
and he had like the very bass model which was
literally just a truck. And what caught me was if
(01:32):
you can see the I was like, wait, they added more.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Stuff to it.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, because it's fully customizable. There's all sorts of stuff
that they're doing with it.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Now, but when they were when they were on Jerry Riggs,
they were like, this is all we have right now.
It's like, oh okay, so they apparently are adding more
things and it hasn't been like fully released yet, so
I just thought that was interesting. They had like a
customized thing that you could go through and that's what
I was looking at. But the Scout thing was cool too.
(02:06):
I do like the more suv is style one.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
But yeah, sixty tho, it's called the Traveler.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
That's that's a lot.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
That's an electric vehicle. That's what happens, you know.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
But the sleet starts at twenty Yeah, that's probably for
the truck with all the add ons. Probably you know,
jumps up in price. Like nothing here actually says how
much even this would be. But anyway, I thought that
was interesting. Yeah, my jeeps in the at the dealership
(02:43):
right now.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Again, Yeah, it was.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
There a couple of weeks ago because I had check
engine light come on.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
But like I think I'd mentioned it before.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
The check engine light came off while it was on
the way there, and they were just like, well, it's
the error was basically a air in the in the
cooling system for the battery, and so they were like, well,
we worked the system and it seems to be working now. Anyway,
it came back on on Wednesday. So I dropped it
(03:17):
off today.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Fun day, by the way, I mean not in a
bad way, just in a like, oh God type of way. Well,
because so I get it, I get dropped off and
checked in.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
They're they're not gonna be able to like actually look
at it for a week, which.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Is like whatever, it's Thanksgiving. I was.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
I was able to borrow my brother's truck this week
to work the what four days that I worked today
this week? It is, but I have a crack in
the windshield and I've been meaning to get that replaced,
and I thought I had comprehensive They were talking about
(03:57):
it to me there. They had a pair at the
Jeep dealership. Since Jeeps are well known to get broken.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Windshields, flat ass windows.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
They have somebody on not on staff, but they have
like some company that they partner with in order to
do this type of stuff.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
And so she was texting me today telling me like.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
How to look up what coverage I have for to
make sure that I have the zero deductible coverage on
the windshield. And it turns out I don't have any
coverage on windshield and if I were to buy the
windshield flat outikes, it's not terrible, but it's not great
(04:38):
if I want to get which is funny because there's
two different versions. There's the Hey, if you want first
party Mopar glass, it's four hundred dollars or something like that.
It's like four or four fifty something like that, so
it's not terrible. Or no, it's five something. Sorry, that
was five thirty.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
The for the mo Park glass you go aftermarket, it's
three fifty.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
It's that's not terrible, but at the same time, like
that's a whole lot of money out of pocket right now.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
So last text I sent her before she probably went
home from the day, to be honest with you.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I was like, well, if I upgrade my insurance to
include glass it goes up twenty bucks a month, which
isn't too bad. So one hundred bucks every six months,
which is how I pay for it, which is not great,
but it's less than three.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Hundred and fifty dollars.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
It's true one time.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Hey.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
But my question is it's like, if I upgrade this,
can I just use it right away?
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Oh, that's a good question. Some insurance will literally it'll
add at the next bill.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Cycle, which would be six months for me.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Yeah, so because if you just renewed, then it probably
will add it to the next billing cycle.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
I mean, it did have a thing on there.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
It said that things would take effect on November twenty seventh,
but I don't know if like if yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Things take effect.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
But you know, you're getting insurance for something that you
already have type thing. You know, there is no butt
thing in there. So I'm just sitting there just going
fuck man, that'd be like three hundred and fifty dollars
for glass and then hopefully the cooling system is not
broken or anything on the truck and they can just
(06:28):
like actually, because my thought is because I just had
the battery replaced under warranty, and it's the battery cooling
system that is throwing the air. So I'm thinking they
just didn't fill it all the way, like somehow they
left a bubble in the system. I'm hoping, I'm hoping
(06:49):
that they're just like, yeah, our bad. You know, we
flushed it and refit and refilled it and everything's good
to go.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
But who knows, who knows?
Speaker 3 (06:58):
So yep, Sometimes.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Sometimes, man, sometimes you just can't get ahead in life.
I need to find a better job and make more money,
don't we all?
Speaker 1 (07:12):
That was my day. That was a day. It was
a day in life of me. Like, it's not incredibly bad.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
I did have some go through some emotions there of
just like, oh god, this is gonna cost.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
A lot of money. Oh no, oh no, it's not
that I can't afford it. I just I don't want
to pay you.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
I can't afford it, but don't want to or can't
afford it. You don't want to.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Be that positive at the end of the month.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
And then you know, for the past couple of months,
I've been pretty good at being that positive.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Then I had to get the truck fit not fixed,
but the uh what was it that it was in
for the it was in for the check engine light
and the power steering fluid was.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Some was low.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
I guess when I was to the battery thing.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Well, the battery thing was back in July that I
didn't have to pay for, so it was like, that's fine,
I didn't have.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
To pay for it.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
But the the uh, the Paris during fluid stuff was
like two hundred dollars and that.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Was like two weeks ago. I get that changed out.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
So it's like there's already like half of what almost
half of what I have extra money that I have
at the end of the month.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
That's all I'm saying. I'm a little anxious, that's it.
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
That's all he's saying.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Everything about money always just it drives my anxiety. I'm
just gonna have to pop a bunch of freaking militonius
night to be able to.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Sleep, That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Get hammered, pass out, Get hammered, pass out.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Anyway, AnyWho, how is your week?
Speaker 1 (08:52):
What what happened here? What happened with because we're recording.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
On a different night, because you were supposed so that
like work, you know, balls to the wall apparently for
the next couple of days or past the wall as
far as I'm concerned.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Yeah, so it was supposed to be because of the
holiday weekend. We don't go into people's houses because family's
there and people don't want us pump around. So they
moved our workday to the or week week to the
beginning of the week versus the end of the week,
which just bumped up against the end of our normal
work week. So it would have been nine days straight
(09:29):
versus just our normal five and two days off than five.
But it's not as busy, so we pulled jobs forward
to free up tomorrow. So technically I'm off tomorrow as
well as I as I normally would be. But so
that's a little bit better, a.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Little bit of a bonus for you.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Yeah, it actually, weirdly, I mean kind of works out,
like as weird as things have been.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Literally today I had the realization of, like, I don't.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Really have to cook anything this night this week because
like I go to you know, hang out with the
parents on Sunday, do some leftovers on Monday, and then
I have to have food for Tuesday. But like Wednesday,
there's supplying food for us. There's gonna be Thanksgiving on Thursday.
It leftovers on Friday. It's like, holy shit, I.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Don't have to actually cook and look at you today.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
I accidentally forgot to buy the yeast for making the
pizza dough, and so we ran out. We ran out
and grabbed borrows. Just as the rain just starts coming down.
It's like, well, good thing we actually didn't make anything,
because holy shit, it was just coming.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
It's still coming down.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
I think, yeah, I might have stopped little bit, but yeah,
it's been. It was. It was a good amount of rain.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Poor Lyra, she's we were hanging out watching Bob's Burgers
and she was just like, I'm not feeling this.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
And she runs into my room and I'm like, she's
never run into my room before. We just kind of
let her go. Whatever. I go and check on her
and she's curled up under my desk.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
It's like, no, this giant metal desk is the safest place.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
To be right now.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Okay, the sky is coming down, the apocalypse is upon us.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
All right, you gonna hide underneath the Secret Labs desk.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Gotta hide somewhere, Gotta hide somewhere.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
It's usually under my brother's bed.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
But whatever, whatever, she's tired of getting past all the bodies?
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Right, Uh? What else? Didn't do else much else?
Speaker 2 (11:37):
This past week, we were about to watch the new
episode of the.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Welcome to darry after.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
This, gotcha, I need to how far you into it?
Two episodes two of four? Yeah, yep, I haven't watched
past that. I haven't had time. How what do you mean?
Speaker 2 (11:59):
How I mean it's such a property of yours that
you would absolutely love.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
I can like just just haven't been home to I
don't watch anything on the last few well, we watched
I shouldn't say that we watched h random movies or whatever,
like when we eat dinner or whatever. It was, put
something on just to watch, but we haven't something. We
haven't really watched anything substantial handful of YouTube videos, but
(12:27):
that's about it. I actually was playing a new game
the last handful of like at an hour of time
or so the last few days, but that's about it.
I haven't really watched anything.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah, that reminds me of like speaking of the stuff
like that. We're obviously coming into Black Friday, and I
got a notification from Steam that's like, hey, some of
those games that you didn't you had on your Wishlist
are on sale right now.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
It was like I woke up and like I'm buying
those right now.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
I'm still probably buying them, but like, yeah, ghost of
Sushima is on sale.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Well it's it's a PlayStation games sale.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeah, there's apparently like an Xbox game sale going on
right now as well on Steam.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
And I'm just like, I don't.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Care enough, honestly, what what game would you play? Though?
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Exactly I canceled Game passed for part of that reason.
There was just nothing for me you'd want to play?
Just want me to go buy stuff on sale?
Speaker 1 (13:24):
No things.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
But I was thinking about picking up Ghost of Sushima
because it's the director's cut, and then on Charted four, uh,
honor among the themes, I think it's the collection that's.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Called someone has the play the PSP games.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
No, it's as far.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
As I know, it's it's the one that includes on
Charted four, and then the one with the two girls.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Oh, okay that's called So it's it's those ones right there.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
I really wish that they would.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
I would say I'll be able to get to play
on Charge three, but I'm gonna have a PlayStation.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Shame it's a shame. Shame.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
It is a shame.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Big shame, big cham huge shame, huge shame. Huge. Yeah.
I started playing Ballpit. Have you seen that yet?
Speaker 1 (14:25):
No?
Speaker 3 (14:26):
So it's a very interesting game. It's cool because the
graphics are like kind of like old school in a way.
But it's so it's a brick breaking game that sounds dumb.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
But no, there's a game that's not. Uh, there is
a game that hits Steam not too long ago. Okay,
well you can't apparently just search.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
For ballpit.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Put ballpit game. Ran this with the guy like I
hit I hit.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Enter, and it's like, oh, look a showing his ballpits.
And I was like I just realized, is that I
can't just type that in and just be like that
that's how it works. Actually, this might be the game.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Yeah, I think it was on Steam.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
It is the game that I had seen. I thought
it was called something else.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Yeah, it's really fun. Yeah, so it's basically the whole thing.
It's definitely a brick breaker, but like with a lot
more to it obviously. So the biggest thing I could
say is like the it's it has a level of
grind to it, but it's not like a terrible grind
like going into the woods and killing a bunch of
(15:30):
fucking rats to level up type thing. It's basically just
replaying the level, but every time you play it it's
slightly different because there's an RANG element to the balls
you get. So each character you and Locke has a
specific ball they start with and usually some kind of
like ability or something or some kind of quirky thing
to them, whatever happens to be. So it's like and
(15:53):
there's like, I think there's like twelve characters. I think
I can't remember all I haven't got all of them yet.
But so the first one you start with, and I
think you actually unlock them in random order, so you
don't always unlock them in the same order. Because I
was watching this one guy talk about this. He called
it a build video. I'm like, well, you can't really
technically build because it's all RNG in a way. But anyways,
(16:16):
he showed his list of characters and his list was
out of order of what mine was listed, as I
was like, I wonder if it's random who you unlock
when you unlock them, because it's not like this character
belongs to this level. It's like, you there's a when
you're playing through, every time you beat like a mini
boss or a boss, there's a chance to drop a blueprint.
And a blueprint is for a building that you're basically
(16:40):
rebuilding your tech this town because it got hit by
this asteroid and then they built this essentially elevator mind
shaft thing to go down in mind the hole that
was created, and they use those materials to then rebuild
the city. So you're finding blueprints, and some of the
blueprints are for character houses and when you unlock their
build their house and then and then finished building it,
(17:02):
you unlock that character to play, okay, and then that
person that character has a different type of ball and
some other quark, Like one of them is like the
empty nester, So she has this one type of ball,
but then she doesn't have baby balls is what they
would call them. And that's I know it's a terrible name,
but that's the like because when you throw your main
(17:23):
your special ball out, you also, yeah, you know I've
heard that before, then you throw out the regular like
brick breaking balls, right like you know, collect them and
then yeah, and then they call them baby balls. Yeah,
so she's known as the empty Nester. She doesn't have
baby balls. Okay, yeah, so she only throws out her
(17:45):
specialty ball, but she can uh I think she throws
two of them, so every time she throws, Like so
normally you like throw one special ball and then whatever
the count of your baby balls are at that point
because you earn more through the game or as you
play a level. Well, she doesn't have that. So I
(18:05):
when I first got I was like, oh, I'll get
if I get like the one of the one of
the the balls you can get is like it's called
the swarm I think or something like that, and every
time it hits an enemy, it has a chance to
release one or zero to one baby balls. So I
was like, oh, if I get that, I'll just that
will create them, right. Nope, it does not. It does
(18:27):
not create them. I was like, well, that's disappointing. So
she's an interesting build. And I was talking to this
guy at work who was telling me he's like he
should try this game, and I was like, I saw
it on game Pass. I'll check it out. They did,
But he was telling me there's a character you get
that or not a character, an unlocked skill from one
of the houses or something you as you upgrade or whatever.
(18:48):
That gives you ability to pair up and you have
two of the characters together. And so what that does
is that allows you to basically pick one character and
then a second one and you get to both and
you get to have both their special balls. When you
first start off, I know it's Terrible's when.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
How do you know? I'm just guessing you're giggling this
whole entire time.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Usually I was when I first started playing it, because
it's hilarious. Yeah, a little bit. You know, I'm a
professional Joe at ball jokes my secon. Yeah, and the
best part is you have to go down the shaft
to use your balls. Yeah yeah, so it's really fun.
(19:37):
And then like it has like the the rebuilding the
town and it has kind of like that simulator type thing,
but then to harvest materials through the because you have wheat,
wood and then rock and so to harvest it when
you first start off, you actually have to shoot your
characters and they bounce off stuff to collect it. But
(19:58):
it's like that, it's and it's really it's very strange.
But as you level up, then you get houses that
will automatically farm for you, but you can still do
the harvest by manual by shooting your characters at it
to collect it, just in case you need that. But
then there's like a bank building you can get where
that will if you bounce characters off it, you earn coins.
So someone in some video I saw I was looking
(20:21):
up like tips or whatever like kind of like kind
of get it because I was kind of confused at first.
I like, really what was doing or how to do things?
So I was watching this one guy and he's like,
he's like, this is what I did, and this has
to help me get a lot of money, which you'll
need for endgame or not endgame stuff, but just throughout
the game to upgrade buildings, to build buildings things like that,
not just the materials you need the coins, he says.
(20:43):
You build as many of the banks you can, then
you put them in a corridor and then bounce your
characters off of them, and the more the characters bounced
during the harvest, the faster they go. So the more
bounces you, the more coins you get. And I was like, oh, okay,
that's actually pretty clever. So yeah, so it space is
like this every it's kind of like a dungeon crawler
(21:04):
in a way like every time you go into the dungeon,
the bad guys are the same, they're different patterns or whatever.
But then the the RNG portion of is like what
power ups you get throughout the game. So the cool
thing about it is as you go through I don't know,
you're probably watching without audio, so it might not say everything.
But basically as you progress the the the different balls,
(21:27):
the special ones, they will at least you're trying to
laugh over there.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
Uh like I am professional over here.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Yeah, that you you level them up because as you
go through and you get new like you you pick
up these gems levels your character up and then unlocks
the ability to get another special ball or an item
that has abilities as well to like shooting more baby balls,
or if you catch your special ball once return, you
(21:55):
have a chance to spawn extra baby balls or whatever,
different things like that. And then as you go through
is you level up the you get more of the
same type of special it levels that one up and
once you get to three, and if you have two
of them, you can actually merge them and create a
new type of new type of special ball that has
both capabilities in it. So like one of the first
(22:18):
ones I got or not. First one I got, but
one of the ones I was like using a lot
when I was able to get it was the bleed
in the burn. It's called the burn bleed ball, and
so basically every time you hit someone with it, it
adds the burn effect and it adds bleed effect to them,
so it's two different status effects damage plus the damage
of the ball hitting them. Then there's an item you
(22:40):
can get called Midnight Oil, which if a baby ball
bounces off someone who's on fire, that ball becomes becomes
on fire, and then we'll light the next person on fire.
And then as you level that up you get it
lasts longer, so like the effect lasts longer or whatever,
it does more damage. So it's like little things like that.
And then as again, as you progress the game, you
(23:00):
have the ability to like choose an item to start with,
and then you have it. Then later on you get
to choose there's an upgrade you get where your your
specialty ball starts at a higher level, so it automatically
starts like two versus starting at one, so then it's
easier to upgrade. But then there's like so now there
is there a bunch of different of these specialty ones,
(23:21):
and then there's the combination of them, but then there's
like evolutions of them where they can get even more
powerful by adding a third special ball into it. Yeah,
there's a bunch of them too, and then there's like
ones where if you have two of those evolved ones
and you add like a third one, it makes this
like super one. And apparently there's one called the the
(23:44):
Nova or I'm sorry, no, sorry, it's called the black Hole.
So you basically take two sons that you create it
is a combination of different ones, and you add another
of I think it's the void one in as the
third one. It creates a black hole and every time
you hit a regular enemy, it just kills everything on
(24:04):
the screen that's not a boss. And you don't have
to like you know, it's literally just hit one of them,
boom they all die. So if you can, like as
you progress later on, you can literally start with the
two characters that have those two specialty balls that help
you make that and then level those up, combine them
to make the first one, and then hope your rang
(24:26):
goes through. But then there's like upgrade you can have
where you can reroll the item you get when you
get the chance to upgrade, so you have a better chance.
But then you have a think ability to banish an
item where that one doesn't repeat, it doesn't come back
throughout the play of that round. So then you can
eliminate not getting a certain one because then you can
(24:46):
like get this one, you know, narrow it down to
get only this item, so you can upgrade that quicker
throughout before you do the boss fight. And so it's
just ridiculous. But then there's this one where like there's
these horizontal lasers, so it's a ball when it hits
a b guy will shoot a either horizontal or vertical laser,
depending which version you get, And if you combine them,
you get the Holy Laser, and it shoots a cross
(25:09):
shape one. Okay, but then you can add fire or
poison or ice to it, and it adds that effect
to the laser. So then the Holy Laser will also
like burn people, like burn bad guys instead, will light
them on fire. So then if you get the Midnight Oil,
the other balls you shoot also light stuff on fire.
(25:29):
And it's just wild combinations of shit. And there's like
this one, the there's a wind one, and then like
this one it's called the brood Mother, I think, and
it's that why I talk about you throw it and
like it can has a chance to like on on
hit shootout, baby balls, but you can get that with
the storm and it becomes called uh I camera with
(25:50):
the combinations are all over the place, but then it
basically becomes like a big like a more powerful version
of that. That also then you can add like poison
to and like all sorts of crazy shit. Dude, it's
fucking wild, but it's cool because it's like every run
is a little different, so you kind of like sometimes
they're really terrible runs because you don't get really good choices.
And then later on you get the ability to banish
(26:12):
or reroll a little cheaper than what it is, so
you kind of you kind of teer it to what
you want. But then later on, after you unlock the
ability to have two characters at once, that gives you
the ability to start pretty quickly to have a certain
type of build if you want to do like certain
type of damage or whatever. But yeah, it's just real fun.
(26:33):
And then it's like the the thing for me though,
is like I have like really bad like ADHD when
it comes to like the building portion of it, so
like I want to try to make it the best
I can, but then you keep unlocking stuff and you
have to like move it around to fit it, and
then you have to open up blue Land and like
(26:53):
making me so angry. I can't just do this and
set it the way I want because I haven't unlocked everything.
And then you have to upgrade stuff. And then you
want like a character's house that, like anybody's house who
touches it in a certain radius, that character gains more XP.
So then I'm trying to find a way to like
put all the character houses as close as I can
to that, but still like, then there's one house that
(27:14):
like if you have it near crops, it gives you
more of the crops whenever they harvest them. Okay, So
and then like I'm like, oh god, So then I'm
trying to balance, like how can I get this guy
just on the edge of the priffia of the one
house to still get the XP bonus but also be
enough close to close enough to the crops to get
the bonus to that too. I'm like, okay, all right,
(27:38):
this is this is excavating. And then you have like
other houses that basically like as you level them up,
give every character more like intelligence or strength or whatever.
So then you as you upgrade those, the obviously progress
your character. And then as you your character levels up
through experience, they those stats go up also, So like
there's that. It's just like there's so much to it,
(27:59):
and I'm like, like the other like I think it
was on last it was on Monday this past Monday
when I didn't work and I was like Page was
still sleeping, so I was like, I'm gonna play this game.
I only play it for like an hour, and then
she messages me like three hours later, it's like, hey,
what are you doing. I was like, I'm playing my
(28:20):
game and I don't know. I did not realize it's
been three hours.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
Yeah, it looks insane.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
I was watching the trailer of it before, and I'm
on Steam's page for it right now, and apparently I
didn't realize that Steam's page allows you to watch somebody
that's who's playing it live.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
He's live streaming right now.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
And this looks like low Level just started the demo
type thing.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
Yeah, because when you start, like when you die okay, Yeah,
so basically, as you as the game, the way that
the gameplay works. You start and the enemy start at
the top of the screen, and then they crawl down
and then you attack them whatever. Right, So obviously you
start when you first start off, you start with whatever
your specialty is. And then then I don't even know
(29:08):
if the count I think you can look at a
camera what the account was, but you certainly start with
a certain amount of baby balls, and then as you progress,
you get more. As you level up, you get you
gain them whatever, right, or have a chance to do
because every time you grab a gem and you level up,
it's a random stat that gets leveled. And then each
character has a certain staff that they kind of start
(29:29):
with at a higher level. Like the default character you
get is the most basically, so he's like all his
items or all of his staffs are like eat here.
But as you obviously level them up, they're gonna go up.
But he's probably never gonna be like the best, right,
But yeah, so you do that and then each again,
each run is a little different. So as you're going
through and you're playing the run, you always start with
the basic and then you collect enough gems, you get
(29:51):
another you get to choose from one of three specialty
balls to add or one of three items at that time,
and then you have four slots, and every time you
obviously get a new ball, it takes us one of
the four slots for the balls. And then because you
in this game, you have four balls, not too and
later on you get in luck five but I don't
(30:11):
know if that's because you added the second character. I
don't know I've got there yet. But then you have
four slots for items and those will level up. And
I've only found one item that actually combines with another
item once you get to level three, and that's the
baby Rattle and the corner coat and the the horn
of something other and it becomes a cornucopia.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
The trailers.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
Yeah, yeah, and it adds basically adds, so the baby
the baby rattle one is more baby balls are created,
I think, and then the war horn is the damage increase.
So when you combine them you get both that and
then it levels up again, so they max out at
level five I think, But then if you combine them
(30:52):
it drops down to one, but that one is more
powerful than like it would be normally, and then you
can level up more and it adds more stats to it,
and so you basically start that way, and then every
time you can collect so many gems, you have a
little bar on the side that goes up. Once you
fill that up, then you get, like I said, you
get one of those upgrades. And then periodically an enemy
(31:13):
will drop a fusion thing, which is those little spinny
blue and red thingies. It looks like yeah, I was
gonna say, it looks like yan yank. It's basically the
two of the specially balls floating around each other. And
then when you have that, you have if you have
nothing at level three or not, you don't have enough
to level three to combine anything, you get basically just
(31:34):
the call the fission and what that does at automatically
add levels to items randomly, So it'll pick anywhere. It'll
say like plus one, and it'll have a number next
to it, and it can be ewhere from like uh
up too, from one to three, one to four, one
to five, and it'll pick randomly of your items you
have and then upgrade those to least one sometimes two.
(31:55):
It'll like one of one of the laser ball, a
second of the laser ball or whatever, and then so
that that levels that up. And then once you have
the specialty balls at least to level three. When you
pick another one those up, you can then combine them
or if you already have an evolution unlocked because you
combine them in a previous run, then you have an
option to automatically unlock the evolution. Uh and then the evolations.
(32:18):
There's also ones that are like, hey, like you have
this already, there's an evolution, We're not gonna tell you
what it is yet, but if you want add this
one to it, and this is and there's a we
we're gonna tell you there's evolution. We're not gonna tell
you what it is, do it and then unlock it
for the next time. And some of them are just
wildly too powerful for like what they are for even
like like beginning where I'm at, Like there's one where
(32:40):
you get like a poison storm, and it's like the
windball and the poison ball, and when you level them
up and you and you throw in like I think
it's the ghost ball or something like that. It lets
it travel through the enemies and get all of them,
but it adds an area effect damage so as it
pat the ball, whatever the ball hits that does direct
damage spreads poison, but then there's a cloud around it
(33:03):
and it causes poison around everybody it passes through, so
they get the status effict damage but don't get direct damage.
But if you add like the ghost one, it penetrates
through them, so then it hits everybody in its path,
bounces off. Then once it hits a wall, it stops
passing through, so if it's in the back, it just
keeps bouncing until it makes its way through. Like it's
(33:25):
pretty crazy. Yeah, it's like there's a bunch of like
I think there's like they say there's fifty of the
basic like specialty ones, and then there's like multiple combinations
per each one, like fire and ice make one fire
and the lasers make one. But then there's like the
fire and horizontal laser. Then there's fire in vertical laser,
(33:47):
but then there's fire in the Holy laser, and then
like if you do the like, I think it's poison.
I think fire, poison, and ice. I think they go
from being when you level them up with with one
of the horizontal or vertical ones or even the Holy laser.
I think it turns it into uh a diagonal like
(34:11):
so a cross shape, so instead of its going up
and down, left and right. It goes diagonally across the map,
so it hits even more space because now it's bouncing,
and every time it hits an enemy directly, it does
that again. Then again if you obviously if you hit
like if you add like the ghost perk to it,
then it passes through and everybody directly hit by the ball,
(34:31):
then the lasers go off on them and every around
them too. So it's craziness like that. It's just like
it gets really fun and it gets real crazy because
sometimes like you get these combinations that do really good
but then don't kill things fast enough because they get
stuck in the background or like Rick shang over here.
But these enemies are like okay, yeah, like oh shit.
(34:54):
So then it was like you know, you know, like
aim your your and the controls are pretty cool because
you can like you move your character with one joystick
and then your other one moves your radical around and
depending on where your guy is at, it changes the
severity of the angle of it, so you can bounce
it more or less or whatever. So yeah, it just
it gets crazy sometimes, like some of them are like
(35:19):
you get these combinations of like just the most ridiculous stuff.
I had one where like I had three variations of
something that added burn. So I had like a lava
ball that one does fire damage and it does an
area effect of an earthquake, so so whatever you hit,
the nine spaces around it take damage. So you have
(35:43):
that and the and the ones on fire. But then
I had the fire, the fire and ice one, which
then causes them to freeze, which means they freeze in place,
but also somehow on fire. But when they freeze in place,
they don't move, and anybody behind them stops moving too.
The back up, so they have that. And then I
had one that was like poison in fire, so I'm
(36:06):
poisoning and lighting them on fire. And then I had
the Midnight oil, so all the baby balls were hitting
a target that's on fire, also turning on fire, and
then lighting everything they touch on fire. And I was like,
I don't even know, this is wild.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
So it's fairly gotten much further.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
I don't know if there's levels or anything, but it
started to get pretty crazy looking here.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
Yeah, And so as you progress through each level, so
it starts with the bone yard, so only enemies or
skeletons or whatever, and they shoot like they basic They
have basic attacks, so they'll shoot a slow moving arrow
at you, but your baby balls can actually just or
your main balls can destroy it. And they don't really travel.
They kind of go in the same direction, so if
you're not there, it's not gonna hit you whatever, right
(36:50):
because you moved. And then they they have different shaped one,
so there's like an L shaped one or whatever rate,
so they kind of take they have more surface area,
but they're also bigger, so they take more damage obviously,
but they can shield another person that's behind them because
you're not dealing damage directly to them unless you have
one of the ones that passes through blah blah blah. Right,
(37:11):
So then once you get to the first because there's three,
there's too many boss stages in it, and then there's
a final boss in each stage. Every time you get
to a miniboss stage, the map the board actually opens
up two more columns, so more enemies will come down,
and then the bosses obviously have their own they'll call
them back and enemies periodically to obviously stop you from
(37:34):
directly hitting them, but then they chase you back down
the board, so then you're backtracking. So the enemies are
still crawling at you, but you're backtracking, so like the
great like you're like you have to backpedal. So that's
pretty fun. It's like the boneyard. There's the ice one.
There's a desert one I just unlocked the other day,
the fungal forests, so that one's got mushrooms or whatever.
(37:57):
But each one it's a new element of like damage
or something to the level, like the ice one that'll
get you. So then they have enemies that will do
you like an ice attack as well as a laser attack.
(38:19):
But then periodically on the map will be a little
area of like cracked ice. If you step on it,
you slide, so it can mess up your aim, but
also like sometimes slide you into a bad guys shot
that's trying to get away. And then the again, I
haven't played the Funngal Force because literally unlocked it right
before I stopped playing, But the the desert one, same thing.
(38:42):
There's enemies that will shoot like a poisoned thing at you,
so if you get status effect damage for a couple
of seconds or whatever. Then there's again laser ones, and
then there's ones that will move around, so they'll they'll
move back and forth, and they will block your shots
from hitting other people. They'll take damage, but they don't
(39:03):
hit the things you're trying to aim at. And there's
ones that like I call them tremors because they look
like tremors, but they'll they'll actually go into the ground
so you can't do damage to them, then pop back
up and then shoot like a poison thing at you. Okay,
So there's that, and then obviously their bosses progress would
be harder as well. And it's just like it's at first,
(39:25):
like the end, this is like kind of wildly like
hard sometimes, but then it all depends on what you like.
The The RNG plays a lot into what you get.
And as you progress and you you grind for more
and you unlock new characters, then you have the ability
to obviously play with different characters. And then if you
beat a stage, the way you have to do it
(39:46):
is you beat you beat it with two the first
three stages, you have to beat it with these two
characters to unlock the gear that you add to your
base to lower it down to the next level. Okay,
so once you beat it, you can't go to the
next one until you beat it second time. Then once
you once you beat it the first time, you also
unlock a totem that you can build and put in
(40:06):
your in your uh town. And every time a new
character is unlocked, if they if they will gain a
certain thing and that will go up depending on how
many of your characters you beat that level with. Okay,
so one of them is like gold, one's experience, one
is ball damage or something whatever. Right, So as you
(40:29):
beat each level, you get that totem, and then to
kind of you go back unlock a new character, go
back and play that one to beat it because it
increases that totem's power. Okay, And then there's a there's
so there's a normal mode on each one, and then
you unlock a fast mode. Fast one you can probably get.
You can probably figure out that means, yeah, it's just faster,
(40:49):
but obviously it's harder because it's it's the times quicker,
but you don't gain things quicker, so you still have
to kill things quicker and to get the gems to
then level yourself up whatever. Right, So there's a lot
to it. It's real fun. The graphics are cool. There's
a bunch of Like I was talking to this guy
at work, Charles, and I was like, I was, like,
(41:10):
it reminds me a lot of like how I felt
when I was playing Acraser back in the day. Ackraser
was this game where you played an angel who basically
comes down to like stop the war. I remember correctly,
it's basically to stop the war between the between God
and the devil. And because you believe that, like I
(41:30):
think that's what it was, like, you believe the human
race are like the people on this planet or whatever,
like need to be saved from the wrath or whatever.
So then you go through and you basically rebuild the cities,
but then you play these like side scrolling missions in between.
It's really hard to explain. You can probably find a
video of it if you're not doing that right now.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
I'm trying to, but like not knowing that necessarily how
to spell act besides AK and AC razor.
Speaker 3 (41:57):
Yeah, as like like you're raising a building.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
I could find ACT act razor, but it looks like
a two D side scroller.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
That might be Yeah, it might be ACT razor. Is
how it's spelled.
Speaker 1 (42:11):
Two D side scroll.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
Yeah, that's the gameplay portion of it.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
Okay, because yeah, I've never heard this game it kind
of reminds me of a.
Speaker 3 (42:21):
Yeah Act Razor. Yeah, it's a C A C T
R A I S E R. It was a Super Nintendo.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
Yeah, I'm looking at.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
Because it reminds me of the Super Nintendo version of
like Castle Beania. It has that like side scrolling to it.
Speaker 3 (42:34):
Yeah, so then you have the the side scrolling part
that you go through and you you like, always reminded
me a lot of like Altered Beasts in a way.
Yeah yeah, yeah, But then if you look at the
stream shots or if you're watching a video, you'll see
like the little map thing, like that's the little thing
you're building up. So then you you basically go through
and you build that up and progress it and then
(42:54):
eventually gets to a part where you move to like
a new land or whatever. But I used to, like
my brother and I to play the ship out of
that game.
Speaker 2 (43:02):
Now that I haven't typed incorrectly, I'm looking at more
images of it.
Speaker 1 (43:05):
Okay, Yeah, yeah, I see what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (43:08):
Yeah, the gameplay is not this not obviously the same,
but like the concept ideas, you go through. As you
go through and you beat the levels, you unlock ability
to build new buildings or new features or whatever, and
then you move from one area to the next when
you're like, this is the area, you built this area.
Then you move to the next area, and the enemies
are a little different and the levels are a little different.
(43:29):
Ablah blah blahs. So just really fun. Like I just
remember playing the ship at that game back in the day.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
Yeah, I don't remember this all.
Speaker 3 (43:37):
Yeah, the people tell me, Okay, I'll bring that up
every now and then. If like talking to people with
video games, like, oh, you old school games are the best.
If you played Ack Razer and like what, I'm like,
go fuck yourselves.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
There's a final print of it of the music.
Speaker 3 (43:49):
Oh yeah, do you think music's dope?
Speaker 1 (43:53):
Visit website.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Actories are original soundtrack to two LPs.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
Oh shit, Oh, the Steam actually has Ack Raser Renaissance
on there. Nice for fourteen apparently the second you could get.
Speaker 1 (44:09):
Into blue where you could have it's it's sound a stock.
Speaker 3 (44:12):
Now.
Speaker 1 (44:12):
I don't like this website. The font looks like comic.
Speaker 3 (44:14):
Sans yeah get out of here.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
I don't think I ever really played much of the
Renaissance one. Basically it was like a remaster almost in
a way. I think, but yeah, it's uh, I love
that game, dude. That game was so much fun.
Speaker 1 (44:32):
Weird. They have a bunch of vinyls from a bunch
of different games.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
Yeah, with a comic sands that you can't go. They
can't trust those people. It's so weird.
Speaker 1 (44:40):
Now you get Bloodborne.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
I wonder if this is like official stuff or if
this is like oh, Gilmore Gors Gills, Gilmore Girls. That's
a weird one. You get the vinyl of Oh, you
can get the vinyl of Alien Earth soundtrack.
Speaker 1 (44:53):
Look a weird website.
Speaker 3 (44:54):
Yeah, I don't know if I trust that girl. Do
they just like.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
Star Wars episode three, Revenge of the Sith. It's a
very very weird website. Plus it's all in heroes, so.
Speaker 3 (45:10):
It's not Americans, not Americans, so.
Speaker 1 (45:13):
It'd be hard to import if you'd really want it.
It's so weird.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Don't help they want to end too oh fancy.
Speaker 1 (45:26):
So anyway, that's cool. Yeah, I'd heard about that game.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
I'd seen people play it and it was just like, oh, okay,
that looks cool.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
I don't know if it'd be a game for me.
Speaker 3 (45:37):
Uh. I would say if you had game passed still
you should check it out, but yeah, I don't know
is I didn't look, but does Steam have a demo
for it? Because I know they still do demos on
some games.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
I realized that the person that that's doing the live
broadcast is a developer, and it literally says when it
when you started the game, it set demo.
Speaker 1 (46:00):
So let's see where is it. They probably do fourteen
nine bundle bundle bundle at the car uh DLC. It
usually is a demo option on here.
Speaker 3 (46:16):
Beys.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
I know they do, like, yeah, there's a download Mac demo.
Speaker 3 (46:22):
Player Mac.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
I am on the Mac.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
I am on the MA about to say you're on
the Max, so I mean it's gonna I'm.
Speaker 1 (46:26):
On the Mac. So yeah, So it looks like they
do offer.
Speaker 3 (46:30):
You have to vire of that old Windows PC here
in a little bit and see if there's a and
just try it out and if you like it, because
I think it's only like fifteen bucks or something on Steam.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
Uh yeah, fifteen fourteen nine right now if you want
to get to the bundles, it's a little bit more.
Speaker 1 (46:45):
Which the bundles, what do they even conclude?
Speaker 3 (46:49):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
Lots slots and daggers. I don't know what the hell
that game is it Legit looks like a separate game.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
Oh that's weird. So another game in I.
Speaker 2 (46:59):
Wonder if these are other all the digital games. Here's
another one that's clover Pit. Oh yeah, Vampire Survivors, which
this game is very much so yeah, it's like Vampire Survivors.
It looks like, so it must be. Yeah, those are other.
I'm pretty sure there are other Devolver Digital they published it.
I didn't realized they didn't develop it, but they have
published it. Yeah, so it's probably their games on there.
(47:23):
So it's not really like any type of DLC or
anything yet interesting.
Speaker 3 (47:28):
So yeah, I mean try the demo. It's pretty fun.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
I would say, yeah, it would be something to play
for a little bit.
Speaker 3 (47:37):
Definitely all right to close out this episode because we're
pretty close to the unless Joe wants adding to the
video game thing.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
Uh no, I just clicked on the thing where it
says it was is it up? It's up for Best
Independent Game at the Game Awards. Yeah, the Game of
Awards a December eleventh. Okay, was wondering that because again
rumor has it, well not not rumor, I think I
I saw someone on Reddit posted tweeted from Valve that
they'll be honoring Half Life with a thirty year handavironniversary
(48:09):
like thing or something like that. And of course with
them just releasing hardware, everyone is hoping that.
Speaker 1 (48:16):
They they announced something that.
Speaker 3 (48:19):
Ends in three, any anything, anything, even if it's not
Half Life, something that's ends in three, Portal.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
Three three, Team Fortress three.
Speaker 2 (48:30):
I mean, I'm not gonna play that, but you know,
I'd be happy for the Team Fortress people if they're like, hey, here's.
Speaker 3 (48:35):
Three, because because if they finally make a three.
Speaker 2 (48:38):
Counter Strike three, then then they popped the cherry and
then's usually at that point things start flowing.
Speaker 3 (48:43):
Would they call the new counter Strike though Global Offensive? Go, No,
there's the new one that just came out. Is that
counter Strike two start?
Speaker 1 (48:52):
It's counter Strike two.
Speaker 3 (48:53):
Yeah, which is technical the third game, but like not
the third game, because counter Global Offensive is just a modern,
moderne version of counter Strike with the new engine.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
Right, Yeah, I think it's And I could be totally
wrong here, but I think it was basically just a
movement from the original whatever they called the original engine
that they worked off of, to the two. Damn it,
what did Half Life two get developed on I'm spacing
(49:23):
out anyway.
Speaker 1 (49:25):
They they moved it over to that, they called it go.
Speaker 2 (49:28):
I think they did actually add they did add some
stuff to it, because I vaguely remember playing a little
bit just to see how it was, but then I stopped. Yeah,
because I just don't do those games anymore.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
I'm not young. I don't work that well, I don't
work that fast anymore.
Speaker 3 (49:47):
I'm tired, boss, I'm tired Grandpa. I don't care. Yeah, So,
I mean it'd be exciting if they do. You announced anything,
even if it's like, hey, the thirtieth anniversary, we're gonna
bundle like o G Half Life, Half Life two, half
like Alex. All that stuff like is like a give
(50:10):
some sort of bundle.
Speaker 2 (50:12):
I think someone had said when they when they bounched
the steam deck, they gave away steam decks during the
during that year's game Game of Words, I think it was.
Speaker 1 (50:23):
So maybe they'll be given away other other stuff this movie.
Speaker 3 (50:25):
Give me a give me a frame, I'll take a frame, exact.
I mean, I'll take a controller. If it just want
to give me free ships control. I greedy have plans
on buying that stuff. Yeah, So I mean we'll see yeah,
so unlike un video game related. I did see this
article today either earlier today or yesterday, and I was
gonna send it to you that I was like, oh,
(50:46):
we're recording.
Speaker 1 (50:47):
Something we talked about ship like I have a few here.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
That Yeah, This says christ Christopher Nolan on directing Batman
Begins after getting passed over for Troy. First off, I
did not know he was in line to make Troy,
which is wild. No, so that one. No, so really
(51:11):
Scott did Gladiator, Wolfgan, Wolfgang Peterson did Troy. But what's
crazy was so he said In this interview, He said
the two time Oscar winner recently recalled directing Batman Begins
after a shuffling of projects ended up with director Wolfgang
Peterson returning uh to do Troy after his Batman and
(51:36):
the Superman was scrapped at Warner Brothers. Again, this is
that he.
Speaker 1 (51:41):
Was attached to. That was the Nicholas Cage.
Speaker 3 (51:44):
One right, No, that was Tim Burton.
Speaker 1 (51:47):
Yeah, christ.
Speaker 3 (51:49):
So then the only studio to give Nolan, uh, you know,
the reins to bat the Dark Knight. So, he says,
I I was originally hired at Warner Brothers to direct
Troy Wolfgan was developed, had developed it, and that he
was in the studio, decided not to proceed with the
superhero his superhero movie Batman v. Superman, and he wanted
(52:11):
Troy back. So originally he was developing Troy got the
opportunity to go over and do Batman's v. Superman. That
got scrapped, probably because he tried to make it like
artsy because that's what he does, and probably like the
budget was probably gonna be like ridiculous if you really
think about it.
Speaker 2 (52:28):
For something at the time, that would be like kind
of not unknown, but like back then, it wasn't.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
Yeah, back then, there wasn't the Marble Universe.
Speaker 2 (52:36):
There wasn't like this, no steam rolling of like comic
book superhero stuff going on.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
No.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
So then yeah, so then he came back, took over
the Troy and then at the end of the day,
it was a world that Nolan said, continued at the
end of the day, it was a world that I
was very interested in to explore. So it been, you know,
back to my mind a very long time. Certain images
(53:03):
periodically would pop up, how would I wanted to handle
the trojan horses, blah blah blah. And then now obviously
he gets a chance to do that because he's making
a Homer's Odyssey, So it's kind of like a full
circle type thing where he gets to make his his
Greek fighting movie. I guess, yeah, right.
Speaker 1 (53:23):
For him.
Speaker 3 (53:23):
Yeah, So it was kind of a kind of fun
little story I saw. I was like, well, I didn't
know that he was up for Troy, because that would
have been a wild movie, I think, but it probably
would have been based on like the script and stuff
they were planning with Wolfgang, So I don't think it
would be like a really like Nolan thing unless him
and his brother were already trying to like, hey, like,
maybe we'll develop this. But if they were already developing Troy,
(53:45):
they were probably just gonna say, hey, like, can you
just take over the reins develop, you know, direct this script,
and we're good to go. So I'm kind of glad
he didn't do that.
Speaker 2 (53:55):
I'm absolutely glad that he didn't do it, because without
Christopher to be Frank, without Christopher Nolan taking the reins
of Batman, I don't think we get the superhero movies
that we get today.
Speaker 3 (54:06):
No, it definitely that that him involved in that obviously
changed the landscape and made things like like studios, well
now there, now it's Marvel Studios, but before it was
you know, Marvel just making stuff around there, but then
also made everybody look around like, oh, this is this
how you can do comic book movies. It doesn't have
to be silly costumes. He doesn't have to be you know,
(54:29):
X Men or Spider Man. It can be more of
a grounded type dude in a suit battling people. He
doesn't then half, you know, and yeah, he got a
little fantastical with his with like you know, like the
the hallucine gin stuff, but like that's more it's way
more grounded than a guy shooting optic beams out of
his eyes, yes you know what I mean. And like
(54:49):
having a buff guy who blows up at football stadium
way more plausible than a guy who can make metal
manipulate with just his mind. So like, you know, little
things like that. Obviously, like you're taking an approach of
like Batman has always kind of been that like boots
on the ground comic book character. And obviously he does
have fantastical enemies, but like himself, he doesn't have like
(55:11):
any special ability, so there's always like more of like
the relatable human being, even though like nobody in their
right mind could ever do what Batman does, because that
kind of punishment to your body would be astronomical and
never be able to be sustainable after like a certain
amount of weeks.
Speaker 2 (55:30):
It's funny you mentioned that because one of the articles
that I have saved actually kind of counter Dix what
you say a little bit, just a little bit, And
I don't know if.
Speaker 1 (55:38):
Any of this is true. I definitely look.
Speaker 2 (55:40):
It's from a website called Futures, of the title as
scientists discovered that people act way better when Batman is present.
I was halfway through the article before we started, because
I just it was one of the recent ones that
I found.
Speaker 1 (55:51):
But so I don't know.
Speaker 2 (55:52):
All the statistics of it, but on average, so from
what I understand, they had a dude dressed up as Batman,
which is kind of weird in of itself. They did
a couple of experiments, one where where he shows up
at a subway.
Speaker 3 (56:13):
I think it was the sandwich place or like the
like the like the restaurant, or like the subway, subway,
like the transportation.
Speaker 2 (56:20):
Like Emily, I'm thinking like New York City subway station,
like it just says as far as I'm where, it
just says. After making a guy addresses Batman stand around
in a subway car, a team of researchers found that
the behavior of people around him suddenly improved the moment
he showed up. No longer was everyone completely self involved
with the presence of it.
Speaker 1 (56:39):
With completely self involved with the presidence of the.
Speaker 2 (56:42):
Superhero, commuters started helping each other more than they would
have without him around. One of the things, I don't
know if it was on the subway or they did
another I think they did another trial where it was
on a.
Speaker 1 (56:55):
Bus or something like that.
Speaker 2 (56:56):
But statistically speaking, if you had Batman on the bus,
more people were let me see I phrase it right,
more people. There were more people that were willing to
give up their seats to like a pregnant lady, versus
if Batman wasn't on the bus. Even to one point though,
(57:20):
they asked the person, why did you give up the
seat on the bus?
Speaker 1 (57:24):
Was it because you saw Batman? And they were like
Batman so exactly had to realize it was there.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
But by some sort of psychological again, I don't know
if this is actually true or not, by some psychological
thing just the idea that he was there for some
reason made people better people.
Speaker 3 (57:44):
Okay, so I'm just saying apparently.
Speaker 2 (57:48):
Just Batman being places is what actually causes people to
be better.
Speaker 1 (57:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (57:52):
But see, the thing is to be to be that
symbol that makes people want to not want to get
their fucking teeth punched in their face, right, you have
to get it those scrapes, So you have to had
you have to build like that ethos around yourself, like
oh shit, this dude will break limbs if I if
I don't act right right, Yeah, So like you have
(58:12):
to have gone through all that already, you know, because
like if you were to put a guy in just
a costume there and they don't know who it's, it's
not Batman, to be like this guy's a lunatic. So
maybe that would, you know, stop people from being mean
to each other too, because like we don't know what's
gonna make this limsic sad We're.
Speaker 2 (58:30):
In New York for for you know, a time and
just be on a subway to be like that's a
dud dress as Batman. That'd just be like the weirdst
that like that's normal from New York. I don't know,
I'm from Phoenix. I don't take subways. Uh, so I
would just be kind of like, I think the point
of it partially was just that it caused people to
be less in their phones when there was something weird
(58:50):
that is out of you know, out of the ordinary
going on, even though it's probably New York the ordinated
things to happen all the time, but allowing them to
be more present.
Speaker 1 (58:58):
Uh, to help other people out. But you're to your point, like,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
Yeah, if everybody addressed is Batman, then Batman doesn't mean anything.
Speaker 1 (59:07):
Yeah, you know, it's not.
Speaker 2 (59:08):
A weird thing to just break people out of their
their selves.
Speaker 3 (59:12):
I'm not wearing hockey pads.
Speaker 1 (59:14):
I'm not wearing hocky pads. Anyway. I thought that was
a funny, fun little article that popped into there.
Speaker 2 (59:25):
Other things that I found this week, apparently they canceled
the R rated teenage mute Nasa Turtles movie.
Speaker 3 (59:30):
Yeah, the last round in.
Speaker 1 (59:32):
The last one that sucks.
Speaker 2 (59:36):
I'm curious. When I sent that picture of the vinyl,
did you know immediately what it was?
Speaker 3 (59:41):
I did? Yes, Yeah, I was confused because I was like,
what though, but what is this? Though? I know, right,
because like I was driving at the time and a
poth in my watch and I was like, because at
first I thought it was like, oh, he's sharing a video,
like you made a video of some sort. Then I
was like, why am I looking at my watch? And
it's like I just looked like, oh my I whacked.
(01:00:03):
I hit my phone to wake it up, and I
was like, because I was at a actually I wasn't
even driving, driving technics in my van, but I was
at a gas station putting gas in it and trying
not to pant wet my pants because I end up
going bath really bad, which is weird because I didn't
have to. And then I got out to put gas
and as soon as I started pumping gas, like, oh guy,
I at the pedial bath and I can't walk away.
(01:00:24):
I'm like, fuck dude, anyway, So I'm like, what is
this Joe saying? I was like, what the fuck is this?
I was like, what does he do? Like?
Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
What is it?
Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
Then I thought at first I was like, is this
AI generated something or other?
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
I kind of thought so too, Like I see the
picture on dig and I was like, is that it's
a strong bad? Did somebody make like a AI thing?
And then I like clicked on the link and I
was just like, no, that is legit merchandise being sold
from for Home Start Runner.
Speaker 1 (01:00:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
And I was like, legit a finyl pressing of Strong
Bad Sings and other hits.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
As it's called.
Speaker 3 (01:00:58):
Yeah, And I was like, what the fuck is this?
I was like, because then I saw the playing cards
and I saw something else and I was like is
this real? And then I was like, oh my god,
it's sold out.
Speaker 1 (01:01:10):
Yeah, it's like what they're making more.
Speaker 3 (01:01:12):
I was like, good lord. I was like, okay, this
is just wild. And I couldn't really look more at
it because I was I had to get back on
the road. But I was like, dude, what the fuck?
I was like, what is happening?
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
Like I said, I'm very close to like just just
pulling the trigger and buying it because I.
Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
Missed Home Start Runner. That was a you know, that
was a that was a childhood thing.
Speaker 3 (01:01:30):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
Everybody within with our age group, well every cool person
with our age group.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Let's like that, Yeah, what do.
Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
You what Home Star Runner was. I still remember Strong
Beat's emails. He's just strong emails.
Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
Yeah. Well, it's funny because when I saw it I
was like, I was like, what the fuck are someone
like someone our age is like AI generating fucking weird
nonsense to do. I was like, okay, you figure like, oh,
you know, it's like me. It's like if I took
act Razer and was like, oh yeah, this is like
blah blah blah, Like here's the thing, Like you know,
they're just making something up like make myself feel bead
(01:02:03):
on and find like the seventeen other people that may
know what that is, that are still alive or still
conscious enough to know what it might be, you know.
But then it's like I'm looking at I'm like, wait,
where did this come from? And then I was like
is this all new stuff? Or did I miss? Was
there songs before?
Speaker 1 (01:02:24):
There were songs in the original Well yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (01:02:26):
It was like there was was there a soundtrack or
was like is this just like like where is this
coming from? Like this is it new music? Is it
just the recordings from the games? Like is it just
that like on vinyl or whatever? Or did they recreate
a bunch of stuff? And he's just gonna strong man
(01:02:46):
it through a bunch of shit like strong Bad Sorry, yeah,
strong Bad is way through. I'm like, I don't know
what this is, and I was like, okay, because there.
Speaker 1 (01:02:57):
Was also strong sad and there was strong.
Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
Mad might be yeah, and it's fucking it's been so long,
Like how I sent tas that thing earlier about an
album being thirty years old, you.
Speaker 1 (01:03:12):
Want to talk about that. There's so many things about
Half Life thirty year anniversary. Anyway, the last thing that
I see on here, because there's actually a few more
things that that we could have gone over real quick.
Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
But apparently because this is just a real quick one
that you said, you texted me and I was like,
you know, I had already seen it, but I was
gonna say it for the podcast.
Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
But you know whatever, Stargate apparently he's getting a new
something we don't.
Speaker 2 (01:03:35):
Know but Rollant, Dean Devlin and Roland Emeric are producing.
Speaker 3 (01:03:40):
Yet, right, and then he's actually working with the writing team.
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
Yes, working with the writing team. One of the writers
or handful of the writers. I can't remember how many
there there were announced on there.
Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
We're on the original show.
Speaker 3 (01:03:55):
Yeah shows they were, they were on Atlantis too.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
Okay, yeah, so more Stargate cool.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
I'm a little bit hesitant about it because are you
just continuing where we left off, which was not where
I would like us to go, to.
Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
Be honest with you. Don't get me wrong, I like
the last few seasons.
Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
It's just that you were battling against the or the
big bad, big big bad things. There was so much
giant crescendo stuff that was happening that where do you
go after that?
Speaker 1 (01:04:29):
I don't want to see dragon ballll.
Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
You know, he's Power nine thousand, and then you introduce
a new He's Power ten thousand or.
Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Whatever it is.
Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
I didn't really watch too much Dragon Balls after. I
didn't watch much after Dragon Ball Z. That's what I'm saying,
is like, do you just introduce a new new big
bad guy, you know, Guaubul two g harder, I don't know,
or do you reboot it which would kind of be
a shame, But at the same time you could.
Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
Actually it's on Amazon.
Speaker 3 (01:04:57):
Studios, right, It's Amazon Amazon MGM.
Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Yeah, Amazon MGM green lights that, so it could be
it could be pretty used on Amazon.
Speaker 1 (01:05:07):
All I'm saying is that that it has it could
have a bigger budget.
Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
Now, so you're you you could is that another option
you get? You go away from the camp and you
go a little bit more hardcore. I would wouldn't mind
seeing something a little bit more serious with a little
bit of light hardness in it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:24):
Yeah, I mean, it would be there they I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
Because, to be honest, the original.
Speaker 3 (01:05:29):
One, the movie, not the movie.
Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
Original series was Showtime.
Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
Yes, so it was not necessarily supposed to be as camping.
In fact, if I remember right, because I do actually
remember right the first episode actually I think it was
the second, so maybe I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:05:45):
Remember right, it had straight up nudity in it, like.
Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Full full frontal, so it was originally meant to be
a little bit more of an adult show. It lasted
I think the first season on Showtime and then it
got kicked out to now I don't remember, but it
did eventually end up on Sci Fi, where it finished
its run.
Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
Who actually took it from Showtime? Was it? Well, that
would have been is that would have been CBS, but.
Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
I know they weren't. They weren't network. It was always cable.
I just don't remember if it went from like Showtime.
For some reason, HBO sticks in my head, but that
seems wrong that I think it went to a different
cable network before it actually ended up on sci Fi.
Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
Let's see if I can find it on here. Broadcast
release blah blah blah blah, Showtime in American syndication sentence Showtime,
Fox owned operated local stations MGM, Yeah, was expensive to produce.
(01:06:50):
MGM arranged in agreement with Showtime that SG one could
air in syndication six months after their premiere on Showtime.
All twenty two Fox owned and operated local stations aired
the first season after the Showtime debut, providing clear the
clearance of forty one percent in the United States. Blah
blah blah. Then it was sci fi, so yeah, it
(01:07:14):
may have seen it on Fox then that's what I'm thinking,
And then it then it hit sci fi.
Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
Yeah, so yeah, Like I would be totally down for
a little bit more serious take on things.
Speaker 1 (01:07:23):
But at that point, are you rebooting it? Like so,
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
I think they could read they could reboot it, but
like make it new, you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (01:07:35):
Absolutely?
Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
Yeah, Like they don't have to follow everything, you know
that we established before.
Speaker 3 (01:07:41):
Yeah, you could just reintroduce it with new characters. We
don't have to rehash the same characters, you know, And
not that I don't want to see those characters again,
but you know what I mean, Like, you don't have
to You don't have to have Jacket O'Neil.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
Yeah, one L because two l's was an asshole, uh,
which is a joke.
Speaker 1 (01:08:01):
That I totally forgot about. You don't have to have
Daniel Jackson.
Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
Yeah, I mean you could make reference because obviously these
two characters were of the movie and that's kind of
when Jump started everything. You don't have to have Mandic
Tappening's character, which I totally is based on her name. Uh.
But yeah, Sam definitely, yeah, Sam, Sam jack Sam Carter.
Speaker 1 (01:08:25):
Sam Carter. Obviously, then you have you know, the God
of War is in there as well.
Speaker 3 (01:08:32):
It'd be cool because you could have like you could
start fresh, have all these new characters, but then you
have these seasoned actors who are still all alive. I believe, right, yes, yeah, yeah.
You could have him come back as different capacities, like
like you could have Christopher Judge come back as anything
that you don't have to be. He doesn't have to
be uh, Jaffa, Jaffa. You don't have to have any
(01:08:54):
of those ones like come back. They just have like
people will be like, oh, ship Christopher Judge just showed
up as a a like, that's fucking.
Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
Rat and I would absolutely love seeing that. You know, hey,
that's Richard be interested in the background. You know, hope
his back better.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
That's mcgiver.
Speaker 1 (01:09:08):
That's mcgiver.
Speaker 3 (01:09:10):
I mcgoover mcgiver.
Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
Anyway. Yeah, so that was my last thing. I I'm
excited for it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
Obviously, it's probably like years away from actually making it anywhere.
Speaker 3 (01:09:23):
Yeah, I mean movie it could be canceled at anymore now,
but it depends on how they want to do. But yeah,
it was interesting because I saw that. I was like,
I was like, oh shit, MGM does own yeah Stargate,
so it's Amazon owns Stargate. I was like, can I
go watch Stargate now on Prime? Is that on there?
Sure you can actually, because I'd love to rewatch the
movie and it's been years since I watched that.
Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
I have the I have the uh the special Edition movie.
Speaker 3 (01:09:50):
I think it then a box it might you might,
I think I have it on Well, it's actually on the.
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
Original version that had the fucked up a little bit
too dark version and uh, because all the scenes were
like very like for some reason, somebody toned down the
brightness on so there were certain scenes where you're like,
is that is that the uh the stargate is that?
And then they did this special edition one that brightened
everything up, made actually everything look better, and you're like, oh, no,
(01:10:18):
that's the because it's the scene where the Jaffa not
the scene, but it's the.
Speaker 1 (01:10:24):
The original.
Speaker 2 (01:10:27):
I essentially that the Egyptians had put over the stargate
and then you had the Jafa that just like fixed
planted into it. Got okay, Yeah, that that scene particular
there was was like so dark people couldn't make it out.
But now it put in the director's cut version that
they had like actually brightened everything up, and you're like, ah,
got it. Of course I saw it in theater, so
I knew.
Speaker 1 (01:10:46):
What it was.
Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
But yeah, but home release.
Speaker 1 (01:10:49):
But home release I have.
Speaker 2 (01:10:52):
I have the every season on DVD, with the exception
of the last two or three they're in there's somewhere
