Speaker 2 (00:57):
Wow, oh oh oh.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
What do you get when you cross a know it
all newspaper columnist with an awkward, unsophisticated every man.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Yeah, well, I'm just not sure about that right now. Well, couch,

(02:27):
better yet, bet your own games, especially if you're following
me on some of the soccer. The last couple of
nights has not gone so well. But if you're giving
a donation to your sports book, mine as well be
one that's in state. The fire Keepers and the fire
Keepers I Casino and Sportsbook App. Jason, Now you're doing brother.
I do hear your voice in my head when I
take a shit.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Guna yaba Gita Jared g guna ya protect Jared Goff
at all cost. I have to say that game last night, Kyle,
Allen and Hendon Hooker blow.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Well, here's the holy shit. I know it's a preseason game,
but my god, I didn't even know the Lions were
playing until the game had started. For real, didn't even
know what was happening. You didn't get you didn't get
the hype, the hype train sent your way via Twitter
and everybody hyped about Lions Football's back. So we have
one Twitter question about it today. We have not had
one user, one listener comment on it period beforehand. Well,
(03:22):
it just happened last night. I'm just still going to
show at ten am. I mean, come on, people, are
you want instant reaction. I'm just saying it's not where
people's heads are. It's still not with the Lions yet.
The Hall of Fame game, Hey, listen, you can still
be with I mean, come on, you had to see
the quarterback play. I understand it's just a backup, but
my god, if Jared Goff goes down, it's going to
be scary. Hot take. Is the Hall of Fame game washed?
(03:43):
Is it time that could do away with?
Speaker 3 (03:44):
No? No, we don't have to go that far. Some
of these guys that are breaking down play by play
pride to Detroit guy. Whatever those guys are. It's like,
my god, how could you sit there and do a
four hour podcast bringing down every play of that shit?
But my god, I did. You can't take away something
from that game last night? Right? I took nothing? No,
I don't. I don't. Football's back. That's what it's going on.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
I guess. I guess that's it. That's about.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
It's just good to see the helmets and football beam played.
It is.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
It is weird, like fun to have on over the years.
I used to get really excited about that, like just
the idea. I know you're not a fan anymore.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
No, no, no, I'm just talking.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
About the initial preseason game of any game, Like the
helmet's the whole idea of it. It's not even the
Lions I'm talking about. Like I used to get really
fired up just to see football back, and I don't.
It doesn't. Like I still love the regular season, but
not even the beginning of the preseason does it for
me anymore? Like it just doesn't.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Yeah, I don't listen. I'm with you. I I like
when football comes back week zero in college football this year,
it's like I will get excited about it, but then
like you know, the next week when there's two lane
utup on, I'm gonna look at that game. Go Jesus.
I can't even know if I can gamble on that,
But we just want football back.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
But I think things would be a fun show earlier
on a Friday for those who are listening live. For
the rest of you, it makes no difference. And yeah, no,
we've got some really good stuff Michigan State football hoops,
CMU football, Michigan football coverage, a lot of Tigers trade deadlines,
and some fun stuff and even a couple couple of
Lions things in there as well. Before we do that,
(05:14):
as we do every end of show week what we
are betting presented by the fire keepers ie casino and
sportsbook app. Are you betting anything this weekend?
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Jason? Well, on Wednesday we gave out our bets and
I'm gonna stick with my golf bets. Maybe uh pivot
here if a couple of guys don't make the cut
here at the Windham. Maybe some Tigers phillies this weekend.
Maybe do some SGP stuff.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
I don't know, So are you betting on the Tigers?
I don't want to bet it, Like I'm talking about
just prop bet kind of stuff. I don't know if
I want to bet, I don't know. Yeah, I'm not here.
Scott Haars has me bummed out. He's picking up forty
year old geriatric freaking some Charlie Morton and it's just
to get excited about that. So it's inspiring. Man, it
is guys like, yeah, but you sit there, you go. Man,
(05:56):
I'm forty six, like five years.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Ago, Holy oh, trying to pitch and got Alex Cobb.
He's got no hips left. He's like Philip Rivers wife.
You know, it's like, what are we doing here?
Speaker 4 (06:07):
Scott, Well, I've got a couple soccer games for people.
I like Pachuka Friday night ten thirty against Lafcchka Patchuka,
and you can get like the line I like the
most is you can get like plus plus plus three quarters.
In other words, it's like, I don't want to describe
(06:28):
it to people, but it's basically it's part of the show. Yeah, well,
plus a half would be like you just need them
not to lose. A tie would work, but plus three
quarters means if they do lose by one, you split
the Yeah, I don't. It's it's tough but I like
Pachuca that the Asian line, no, and I also like
him a little on the money line, and plus plus
three hundred like Pachuca. And sorry also Saturday kind of
(06:54):
like UH Minnesota at home or against Club America where
that game is being played, they are plus two ninety five.
The thing about the Eleage's Cup is some of those
games are essentially exhibitions because teams that didn't get the
two or three points in their first game can't move on.
So a couple of games to look at right there
also are rarey I've always pronounced this wrong. Quertero. Is
(07:21):
that Portland and they are. They are god awful, and
that is I would go Portland minus one. Those are
the games that I like in the League's Cup. That
is what we're betting. Presented by our friends at fire
Keepers and the fire Keepers I Casino and sportsbook cap

(07:43):
there at fire Keepers Casino in Battle Creek. Jason sounds
like soccer needs some more user friendly gambling ideas well.
It's just hard to I'm just three quarters Asian line.
I just suck at explaining things. These aren't that difficult.
I'm just not very talented. It's that I think you
do a good job of it most times. You know,
I just don't even want to explain it. What do
(08:04):
we betting this weekend?
Speaker 3 (08:05):
I don't know. I don't want to explain.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
And for those watching that, I'm if I look a
little shiny. I've just finished a physical therapy workout.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
I know. I had to look outside and make sure
it wasn't raining again like it was Wednesday. Yeah, you're
going hard in the paint and this physical therapy. I
didn't know that that was possible. I thought physical therapy
was just kind of going, maybe get a little sweat going.
But couch was drenched like you just got off a treadmill.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
But at this point, I'm missing lube. Paying them to
be a personal trainer is when I'm paying them at
this point. Yeah, it's not even physical, it's not really
any therapy.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
It's like how an they're set in. Yeah, sir, actually
a half hour ago you're supposed to leave.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
I know, I'm just trying to grind well. Today I
showed up with my mother just had nee replacement surgery.
So it's like this dynamic duo walking through the door.
She's got a walker, you know, ready just to barely
get through it. And I'm sitting there ready to like,
you know, run by yourself. And did you have two
handlers to help out with?
Speaker 3 (08:53):
No?
Speaker 4 (08:53):
Just me if she's on her own now too. Yeah,
it's it's a little nervous. No, she's doing all right,
you know. Yeah, we're good. She got a lot a
good support group, a lot of friends, and and she's
you know, she's motoring around pretty well.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
On the On the she's got a little cart thing.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
No, it's well, it's a walker, but it's got wheels.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
So all right, you ready to dig into these groovy
don't it?
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Twitter questions? Let's do it? Man? Eric Schultz up first,
any idea if MSU is going to release a formal
depth chart at some point. D'Antonio used to release one
prior to Game one, and I felt like that really
helped fans get to know the team prior to the
season starting.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
It's a good idea, and it's something I hadn't even
thought about asking about, but will now because I think
you know, it is almost a fan service at this
point because you get and I know Michigan State didn't
have as much turnover this year as as maybe a
year before, but it does help. You don't know who
these players are. You don't have a great sense of
things now. I know coaches like to be coy and
not you know, and and and if you need to
(09:48):
say a running back position so and so or so
and so, and nobody's gonna mind that, right, but just
to get a sense of who's who and and.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
But how coy do we have to be? I mean,
the fans need to know who the players are.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
And if they're not going to do that, people like
myself and the other writers need to do a really
good job of explaining the depth chart because in play
is what you're saying. Yeah now, but it is something
asked about because I don't think it. You know, it's
one of those things. I understand the idea of coaches
liking to keep certain things under wraps, but everybody knows
Aiden Childs at the starting quarterback. It's not like the
(10:21):
starting left tackle. It changes the scouting report for the
opposing team a ton. It's not like Nick marsh isn't
going to be out there, so I just think and
I would bet you if you asked any retired coach
if they ever thought releasing a depth chart hurt them
in a game, they would say no. So we'll see
if we can get something, because I do think that's
(10:43):
it's nice for people, especially in this day and age.
It's just nice for people to know who's who, and
it's harder to get to know the team than it
used to be.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Scotty Green's al Camino Next, Now that CMU has been
designated a terrorist organization, do you think their penalty what
do you think their penalty should be like? And Jason's answers,
My penalty shut it all down?
Speaker 4 (11:04):
What's proper for CMU?
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Jason? I don't think you should get the death penalty? Right? No? No,
I mean there's nothing really to vacate. No, they weren't
very good, there's no wins. I mean, do you give
them a two year ban of whatever? Does that matter
either way? Does that any punishment matter to CMU for
the football program right now?
Speaker 4 (11:25):
Show cause to a retired coach, I don't know if
that doesn't anything right, but I just.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Don't know what it would do if I'm Michigan State,
I can understand doing things personally and as a university
against CMU where you won't maybe associate with them for
a significant amount of time. But as far as the
nc DOUBLEA coming down, what could they do to CMU?
Speaker 4 (11:42):
I think this is too pronged. I think there are
two ways to look at this. There is you're right,
there's the NCAA side of this, which whatever, we'll see
what that is, and I don't know. It certainly can't
be it shouldn't be more severe than Michigan's penalty, So
you'll see what Michigan's penalty is, right, I mean, And
it's not that CMU didn't do something wrong. They let
(12:03):
a coach from another team on their sidelines to help
them cheat. And the reasons it was done, while Connor
Stallions may have been advanced scouting from Michigan were from
all my reporting and information were partly done and orchestrated
by the guy who was a new play caller and
it was his first game, you know, calling plays, and
he was a friend of Connor Stallions from when he
(12:23):
was a GA on that Michigan staff. So but he's
no longer there either, doesn't mean there shouln't be accountability,
and there hasn't been accountability yet, so I don't know
what the NCA should do. I think from Michigan State standpoint,
this is where it's it's more interesting, like what what
is proper to because not everybody feels as strongly as
(12:43):
some do that you know, CMU should be banished from
the earth. A lot of people went both places, have
relationships both places. It's an hour north of here, it's
a it's a it's a state university that a lot
of people go to, and a lot of people from
around here go to a lot of CMU lums are
Michigan State fans, and that's just you know, the way
it works. To some degree. What I would want is
(13:05):
an apology formally from them. I'd want their ad to
actually speak publicly and say we screwed something up. This
should have been handled differently. We apologize that Michigan Satan
is an important relationship to us and this was against
the spirit of sportsmanship and our handling of it afterwards
might have been disrespectful. I would want some sort of
(13:26):
apology like that. Shouldn't that have happened already though, well, certainly,
I think so. But see that's an annoying part. That's
what I mean. If Michigan State.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Wants to separate themselves from doing anything with CMU going
forward for a certain amount of time, I could understand.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
And maybe you pull back on one game just to
make a point. If you can get that apology and
you say, you know, in twenty twenty seven we're going
to play somebody else. We're just not thrilled we're back
on twenty thirty. Let bygones be bygones. But like I
think there needs to be some level of acknowledgment from
CMU that this was a thing and that they were
disrespectful to a relationship. It's always been really good with
(14:02):
Michigan State, it really has. It's been a solid relationship
in Michigan. State has done things from a football program
in athletic departments to and point to help CMU. That
was part of the you know, during the depths of
the economy in like eight when Mark Hollis and those
guys came up with to celebrate the state idea where
they were going to play one game at Western, one
game at Central, one game at Eastern, the Eastern ad
screwed that up. But the other two games did happen
(14:24):
twenty twelve at Central, fifteen at Western, and those are
big deal games, and that was Michigan. Now, as altruistic
as that sounded, Michigan State should do that more often
because the deal of that game was like, Hey, we'll
come to you once you come to us three times,
and when you come to us, we don't have to
(14:45):
pay you as much because it's more of a series
home and home than it is a true you know,
so it actually worked out. I mean, if I were
Michigan State, I would do that way more often. Financially
it makes sense. But yeah, no, there should be some
accountability and maybe pull a game back or something like that.
I'm very curious what Jay back, well, we'll say, and
how much this is on his radar. I'm sure somebody
has let him know at this point.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Andrew Gotier next, did Scott Harris actually do anything to
improve the team at the deadline? This is the most
standing pat version of making trades I've ever seen. Very disappointing.
Let's not even try to find a picture with the
eer lower than four and a half. And from David
Jackson and Kurt was Newski is adding a bunch of
four plus era pictures all we need to put us
(15:25):
over the top.
Speaker 4 (15:27):
It wasn't in It was not inspiring day as.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
We see Seattle in Toronto just adding this and adding that,
how about Minnesota yesterday too? Four hundred and forty million
dollars in debt. They're just begging people to take Carlos
Korea too. But yeah, everything you read, you want you
want to sit there and bash Scott Harris. But then
everything you read, you know, it's like, oh, we added
guys that we wanted to. We didn't give up the prospects.
We kept our prospects and we got better. Right, So
(15:52):
what are you supposed to say against that?
Speaker 4 (15:54):
The problem is we always want things at the deadline.
We want the deadline to be this magic day. I
do feel like it would have been nice for the
Tigers to have gotten somebody who wasn't a project among
the pitching staff. Like I, you know, if you don't
get a bat, ideally.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
You do a little more.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
But like I also understand it from Harris's perspective a
little bit and how he thinks he's building an organization,
and the results to this point have been pretty good
on his end. Right They went to the playoffs last year,
they're leading the division right now.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
It's yeah, last year, after one percent chance of making it, it
was a historic run that was made last year. They're
good this year. Absolutely at the best record at times
in major in all of Major League Baseball. And that's
when you think that you would add, when you have
deficiencies on your roster, that you would add guys. We're
not talking about trading the top ten prospects like San
Diego did, but I mean, god, damn, you gotta do something.
(16:46):
And I you know, always the smartest guy in the room.
Shit is fantastic when it works. But let's see, I
guess yeah, that's all you can do. You can sit
there and get mad at Scott Harris and then he'll
make you look like a fool.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
With some of these guys that he's picked up. Well, yeah,
they do have good coaching staff. I do think they
have a good eye for these guys. I'm not saying
all these trades. I'm not saying the trades they did
were bad. I'm saying that they would have been nice
if there was something addition. Pad So, yeah, but I
do think there are two sides of this one. He
talks about there not actually being a window, and the
idea is to be in the postseason every year and
that's that's how you actually win one of these And
(17:17):
I get that, and so I think that part of
it is fine and right, and that's a great approach.
And you do want to have an incredible farm system
that keeps you do you want stars growing within and
all that. I get that, sure, But there also is
Tigers fans have learned when you get there, there are
no guarantees.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
It is hard.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
And when you're there and there are no guarantees that
you get there year after year, you can say you're
gonna get there every year. Chris Castellani pointed out on
his video talking about this the other day, friend Chris,
that that, you know, look at the Baltimoreials a couple
of years ago when they didn't do much of the deadline.
It was supposed to be this young talent team that
was gonna be back and back and back, and there's
just no guarantees. Now, I think that Tigers are in
(17:56):
a good place, but when you get there, why not
you know, I'm not saying you have to give up
one of your top three or four prospects, and maybe
that's what it would have taken. But well, you look,
you look at some of these other guys that moved
and what it took to get them in some In
some cases there might have been an overpay, but not
in all cases. And I also get the idea that
you know, rentals, you don't want to give up too much,
and maybe the price was I don't know all the
(18:17):
behind the scenes, nobody really.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
We witnessed it with a guy like Dombrowski who's with
the Phillies who were playing in the series, that you know,
you'd sell all of your prospects to try to make
that run and then you're just got awful for five
to seven years. And I gotta say, I remember that rebuild.
Every being told every year Mickey looks is in the
best shape of his life and we're in the middle
of a rebuild. We were told that for five to
(18:39):
six years, so I never want to go back to
that point. But it's just kind of crazy to me
when you're this close and you're watching your team have
these needs and need a bat at least and some
quality pitching, not this you know, prey and hope and
hope these guys can sit there and pull something that
they had earlier in their career out of their ass
throughout this season, right Like, you have to have some
sort of prominence guys that are if you're if you're
(19:01):
sitting there and you're a contender, I just don't know.
I'm looking at the other teams. Are we going to
beat any of them in the playoffs? I don't know.
It just seems impossible with what the other teams that
were just we're adding at the at the deadline.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
But and with Dombroski, you know, you always win the
trade deadline, you always win the signing and it feels good,
but you're right the overall long term approach.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Dude, it feels great if Dombrowski felt when you're signing guys,
I mean, you know, spending money.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
It wasn't It wasn't completely though, the right approach has
turned out because but I'll say this, you can criticize
that approach. However, if they had won a World Series
or two, I think it would have made this rebuild
more tolerable if they would have won won the World Series. Absolutely,
And that's the thing for Scott Harris, if he wins
a World Series with his approach in the next three
(19:48):
four years, whether or not school or whatever, like we're good.
You know, if this is what it's.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
And shipping me will carry Scott Harris, They'll be a
statue of Scott Harrison downtown Lansing.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
And part of leadership is sometimes making tough to decisions
and not doing the popular things. And if he thinks
this is right, I think what people struggle with is
the idea that he's just overthinking it. He's you know
that he's and oh, he's got that look. He's got
a smartiness. You No, he's got that look the smartest
guy in the room when he talks like I get it.
You have to be smart to have you know, they've
(20:18):
got to win one. And they can't be a team
that makes the playoffs five out of seven years but
never looks like the team that's going to be a
threat to win it all when they get there. They
can't be that team. Otherwise, you know, this approach isn't enough.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Uh, Andrew Graham, name at your top four Premier League
finishers for this season in order.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
I would go based on off season signing a Liverpool again.
I really like Liverpool Arsenal two. I think it's going
to be a great at the time. I think the
top four Arsenal, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea Man City are going
to be the top four. I think there's good value
still even on I got on Chelsea early to be
a top four if you can buy that at the
fire keepers eye, because you know, in sports cap makes sense.
(21:01):
But the order in which, like I'm Chelsea and man City,
I don't they're gonna be. I think there'll be three four,
but I don't know the order, but I think it
also there's potential with both those teams to surprise a
little bit. There's a potential for a really good race
at the top this year that I'm that I'm pretty
excited about with all those. But I would go Liverpool, Arsenal,
(21:22):
probably probably Man City than Chelsea at this point, if
you know. But I like Chelsea, I like what they
did and an awful.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Lot David Jackson, now that the Tigers have won four straight,
is all right with the world once again?
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Well, not yesterday, not on the trade deadline day. It
was a good response they needed to do that, and
I know Arizona was kind of a downtrodden team. But
the win four straight going into what's a tough weekend
assignment at Philadelphia where you need at least just get
one not to skid again. Like that, that was a
good you win four. It takes the pressure off this
weekend a little bit.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Next one from David finally as he's been and hitting
like my Aunt Petunia, is Parker Meadow's injury a case
of addition by subtraction, Aunt Petunia? Yeah, how long is
he out for? And held on one second? I am
(22:21):
the passenger, I will I don't even all right, I
don't see this. I don't even see the injury. I don't.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
But first of all, Google, I mean, like I've never
seen a company ruin it ruin themselves quite like Google.
You're anti Google now, oh they've searched. Is just so
bad right now, it's just ridiculous. You had it all,
You had it all. I want to like sing that
twelve song. No Twitter, there are a lot of people
screwed up. I mean, it's the point like Google.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
I was.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
I was with a couple of friends last night and
I pulled out something to show them on Twitter. And
both of them work in the business you're you're still
using Twitter for stuff.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Like like that. That's where it is a dinner that
must have been fun. But it wasn't.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
No, no, it wasn't like a political thing. It's just like
it's in a we're talking about journalism metrics and things
like that. It's like an ineffective tool just doesn't do
anything anymore, so like people start using it. So, uh,
Twitter screwed itself. Google screwed itself. Like everybody just yeah, good,
are you still using that?
Speaker 3 (23:21):
Twitter? Yeah? It's unbelievable, lame liberal conversation, but yeah, yeah, I'm.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
Sure Jesus Christ. Uh sorry, what are you guys using? Yeah,
that's so great saving the newspaper industry. But what what
you need with Austin Meadows is is I do think
he is still an important part of the season, and.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
I don't Barker and Austin. If Austin came back, that
would be miraculous. What did I say? You said, Austin,
I'm Parker. It happens, and Petunia David Jackson does Strayhorn's
son attending Michigan plus allegedly trying to get Marsh to
transfer to Michigan make Jason Strayhorn, a Fifth columnist, betraying
Michigan state in a way not seeing globally since vidcan quistling,
(23:59):
I loved it, David, I.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Don't think this. I you know, people say it happened.
Dominic says it happened.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
That happened.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Then, yeah, and I am not somebody to question dominic sourcing.
Are you saying he's lying about his hooker eggs? No, No,
I did not doesn't come with lies. Yeah, I did not.
I did not mean that at all. But you know,
and the Fifth Columns is like a trader, right, it's
like the enemy within so to speak. U. So I again,
(24:28):
I don't I would be stunned. I won't be stunned.
I won't be stunned by anything.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
I want to say. I'm not stub by anything. I
shouldn't say that. If he did that, it was we
don't have enough time for all of that.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
If he had done by that, it was stupid and
he deserved not to be on the broadcast. If he
actually meddled that way.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Kurt was Newski, no question, just the statement. The Lions
seventh team offense and defense are asked. Those seventh teamers
not so good, but they tackle and they play hard.
Though I love our team. I just love the team
mentality of the Lions. I love Dan Campbell, Corey Ostrom.
Why is Chris Ilich ass please count the ways Jason
and Graham? Well, we just don't because he's scared to
(25:10):
become the Twins. I think we have no faith in him.
He's you know, he's like the younger Steinbrenn. I mean,
he doesn't want to spend money. It doesn't appear to
want to spend money. And if he does, we haven't
seen it. And Chris Ilich, the thing is, Chris Ilich
could fix this really quickly. Tom Gores fixed it pretty quickly,
but Ilich could fix it really quickly with a couple
of big, smart signings. Now I don't mind like it.
(25:31):
It's funny when you look at a guy like Riley Green,
who we want them to resign, but what Riley Green
is actually worse fluctuates by the month, you know, and
in terms of what is he a good player? Is
he a great player? And so I get, but you
drafted these guys and he's hitting thirty home runs by
all start like like he's producing, So why wouldn't you
want to sit there and maybe talk contract extension. Maybe
(25:51):
you can get that deal. That's the problem. We just
haven't seen anything. Just don't offer ten year deals. That's it,
six to seven years, Corey Ostrom Graham, could you please
spin zone these trades the Tigers made into a positive scenario,
including a Dick Riding take on why they didn't need
a fear bat. Give me all right.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
I like Kyle Finnegan, right, don't hate that. Chris Paddock
already looked good. Morton, you know, uh still might have
something left in him and some of these guys that
have performed well, Morton's been better lately, coming to a
team that's in the thick of it for two months.
Whatever they got left, this is it, right, this is
it And these are proven pros and I think they'll
(26:41):
get the best out of them. And you know, in
terms of the lineup and the bat situation, I got
nothing for it. I mean, they don't have a fear bet.
It's just it is what it is. It's an okay lineup.
It's not a fear bat lineup. It would be nice
to have a fear bet. And I saw something the
other day with well he can be Yeah, you're right,
He's the closest thing. I saw Gary Sheffield an interview
with him, and I just thought, there's a fear bat
(27:03):
I remember what that looked like. They don't have that,
that's for sure, rambling Spartan. Next, Why did Tigers fans
have such short memories? Dave Dombrowski constantly made splashy acquisitions
at the trade deadline, and then they fell apart in
the playoffs. Does nobody remember trading for David Price starting
(27:25):
prime Scherzer, Verlander and Price while getting swept in the
first round by the Orioles. The playoffs are a crab shoot.
You just have to make them. These deals ensure.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
That the Tigers will be playing in October, where anything
can happen. Tigers fans need to stop whining. Let Scott Cook.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
I mean, there's an element of this is typical fan behavior, right,
the idea that you know, everybody on signing on trade
deadline day wants the moon and wants every big ten.
Even know if we wanted the moon, just something. I
think part of the problem is there is a there's
a frustration that there's a cheapness to the Tigers, and
(28:08):
I don't think the trade deadline really speaks to that
as much, but it all is wrapped up into one thing.
There's a sense that they don't make the big move,
that they don't make the big trade, they don't make
the big signing, and they never will and that's going
to limit them. And I think that is frustrating when
you come from an era where an owner used to
do that and you're not in a small market and
you don't have to do that, And if you don't
(28:29):
want to do that from a spending standpoint, you should
sell the team. You should absolutely sell the team. Fan
should boycott, not a single fan should go until they
sell the team, if that were the actual case. And
I think that that's that's frustrating. The playoffs are a crapshoot.
I hate the Baseball playoffs for it. I mean, I
really do. I nothing. I mean, it's if I were
the Baseball commissioner, we would go to seven game series
(28:51):
after the you can have the first wildcard or whatever.
But if you won your division, you wouldn't play a
series less than seven games, and then you you'd only
have one day after in the series. It has to
mimic the regular season. You have to have the depth,
you have to if you're the best. And then the
other thing I would do is I would celebrate the
team in baseball with the best regular season record like
(29:12):
that would be a truly special like almost what the
World Series is, because it drives me nuts.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
You play.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
You basically wate six months to get into a crap shoot,
and you're right about that. But the problem is there
are things we do know about these Tigers. This bullpen
won't do well in that crap shoot, and and maybe
the guys I got now will be enough. I'm that's
you know, that's something I'm I'm questioning. The one thing
I don't love is I don't love moving Melton to
(29:43):
the bullpen necessarily. I know they need more swing and
miss there. I thought he had a great start. I
would ride that until I don't know. I just I
know they want to put Morton as a starter. I
would like I'd like the idea of him as a starter.
I want to see where that goes, and maybe he'll
be back at Someway.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
Casalonian Couch podcast coming soon. Jeff Peterson great the Tyger
for their deals before the trade deadline, ABCD or F.
I'm gonna say C yeah, middle really I just don't
want to be a Debbie downer god or I'm not
gonna go f you know.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
Yeah, well we don't know what they're going to be,
so you can't like grades are often it's like grades
after the draft in anyway.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
We know what some of them are. I mean, come on,
some of these guys that are in their forties. It's like,
come on, you can't get super excited.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
Give mean a C minus Jeff Peterson? More irrelevant the
Hall of Fame game or the Big ten Media Day?
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Oh, the Hall of Fame game?
Speaker 4 (30:33):
No, Big ten Media Day. I at least knew Big
ten mediad was coming.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Yeah, but you're not a fan, so it doesn't matter,
Like why how would you not know? So you can't
just chalk it up to that, how would you not
know Big ten Media Day's coming? You bitch about it
every year. You don't bitch about the Hall of Fame game.
So here's a question. Just great to see the football.
What has more relevant activity in a Big ten media day?
At least something can be said. Do you see Roger
Goodell cry last night? Man? I mean, come on, that
(30:58):
is intense. It's great to have the NFL act I
mean both are relevant. To be honest, Sterling Sharp going
into the Hall of Fame wasn't even the biggest news
about one of the Sharp brothers on the Hall of
Fame weekend. I'm not saying the Hall of Fame is
in a big deal.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
It's Sterling's fault though. I actually brother can't that's fair.
I actually really like the Hall of Fame ceremonies and
the speeches. I think that part of.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
It is is you can't have you gotta you gotta
do the whole thing, you got thing. Yeah, yeah, I
love that part. I watched that part.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
That part I love and and to be honest, to
be fair, the Hall of Fame game is still more relevant.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
Media. Jeff Peterson favorite lake in our great state of Michigan.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
Oh it's superior. It's it says on the title, it's
the superior, Like it's it's the most beautiful, the most daunting,
the most storied. I mean, I love Lake Michigan, but
the lake Lake Superior?
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Is it? Greeting mister ben Jon, Greetings from Bucharest. Finagain,
Morton and Paddock are a a law firm, be a
euro trash boy band or see the ridiculous quote unquote
Hall that even Steve Eiserman thinks is underwhelming.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
Yeah, it's not a win the press conference move. I mean,
we'll see what it works out to be. Uh, it's
not inspiring, it's not and you know, if it doesn't
work out, that's the thing. It's a little It's one
of those things where these guys don't If none of
them pan out and this this, they skate into the
playoffs and lose in the first three series, there's gonna
be some real egg on Scott Harris's face.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
Like, I mean, yeah, if they all flame out, what
are the odds of that? I hope not, mister Benjen.
What's more likely mid season Jonathan Smith is the savior
or hashtag fire Jonathan Smith trends mid season, so talking savior,
I mean, it could probably go either way. You know what,
(32:53):
it's a great question, ben Jin.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
I mean, because you can you can argue this right
either way. I mean, something's gonna go wrong at some point.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Coach.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
Very few coaches do so well in a year that
there's never people are like fire that guy. You know,
that's a pretty standard line at this point, especially when
it has.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
To get real bad by mid season. Though it would
have to be a debacle. Yeah, it's a saviorified debacle.
But savior is pretty high too. Like, you know, I
would say it's probably more likely you're seeing hashtags fire
Jonathan Smith. I'm not saying it's more like you see
that than people going, oh, this season's going pretty well.
I'm just saying the idea that people start saying he's
the savior, that's a pretty so savior is like what
(33:30):
people thought of Mel Tucker after eight to oh in
twenty twenty one, Like, does this Michigan State team have
that start in it there is? I mean that the
way people felt about that team really started after the
win at Miami. And so if Michigan State were to
start three to oh and then go to USC and
win a game there that was inspiring, more inspiring than
(33:51):
a Scott Harris trade deadline, you might start to get
rumblings that people are a little happier. But I'm gonna
go savior. Then well.
Speaker 4 (33:57):
The difference is though you can't really to be a savior.
You have to Yeah, I know.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
People fling it around. You need the you need.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
People to trust the recruiting and the talent acquisition. I
think that's still that's gonna have to be done in
off seasons and over time.
Speaker 5 (34:12):
The bottom line is, uh, I could see that game
going one way, Ben Jon, Nothing was funnier than Jason
humming cold Play than the next show saying he'd do
a duet with lat Lats in the stands.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
Can someone please do a song mashup of this of
what Lats and I singing? I guess so that would
mean we'd have to get Lats like in the same place,
and it would.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
Just be impossible. Yeah, I would love to, but damn
it's hard. Maddy be next, Should Scott Harris have just
left an upper decker in my bathroom? That might be
more enjoyable than this deadline? Does anyone find an upper
decker enjoyable, especially if you've just had it done to
your Your toilet can the worst? Jesus, Maddie B. Why
(34:58):
are guys like Spiro and other is doing more digging
into the Michigan scandal than the people who cover the team?
Speaker 4 (35:06):
Fair Question one is because they're more They're more passionate
about it, and it means more to them. State higher
spirit means more to means more to the Spureau than
that it does, and so he's he's, he's and he's
he's a lot. Yeah, he's spending a lot of time digging,
and you know what he's it's he's he's kept the
narrative going. I I I you know, I give him credit.
(35:27):
The you're right, though, there probably should be more done
on that. You have scandal from a digging perspective and
it you know, you can't put that entirely like Wojes
or somebody like that. The you know, the news or
the free press conums should be there to criticize. But
that's on you know, that's not just on the beat writers,
(35:48):
but that's on people that those are organizations, at the
independent organizations too, to dig in and and and do more.
Now it's difficult with some of the n cub A stuff,
and we'll see what the n CUBA comes out with,
but no, it's an absolutely fair criticism. If you would
like Michigan people cover Michigan to do more on the scandal,
(36:09):
one of the things you can do to entice them
is send them a box at Groovy Donuts. If you
want something done in your life, or you want somebody
to like you or do something for you or appreciate you,
or listen to you. A box of Groovy Donuts is
a great way to do it, whatever the reason, or
just if you're going to gathering and you're not sure
you're welcome, or you just want to be liked, or
you're you know, kids going back to school and you're thinking,
(36:30):
how my kid is a freaking knucklehead like this is
this is not going to go well this year? How
can I get this teacher to like them? A box
of groovy donuts or one really great donut goes a
long long way. You can go to groovy donuts dot
com place your order today. They are back open this
week after they were open last Sunday too, but after
the storm and the power took them out for a
couple of days really really really stunk last week. They're
(36:53):
back open seven am to one pm both locations Lake
Lanting Road in East Lancing and in Williams In seven
am to one pm Thursday day through Sunday. And so
you can help them recoup a little bit from last
weekend and also, you know, make people in your life
like you just a little bit more.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
Some dude, next, I remember some aident child's comments from
the end of last year. Saying that a lot of
dudes on the football team maybe didn't really want to
be there. Can you expand upon this maybe some details.
Seems like wanting to be there is a huge thing
and all of life's life's endeavors and maybe a big
difference maker for this coming season. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
I mean, I think part of it is, and this
you see with the retention when you have a new
coach that comes in and people decide, Okay, I'm gonna
stick this out or I don't have a ton of
other options after that awful season they had at the
end of the Mel Tuck career, and they stay around,
but they're not bought in necessarily. They're sort of there
because this is the best option they have and let's
(37:50):
see how this goes. If you're still there now, you've
chosen to be there. You know, the coaching staff, they
know you've chosen this marriage. And I think that's the difference, right.
Everybody is there now to some degree really wants to
be there, and you know they've had options. If they
don't have options, then that's on them. But I think
(38:12):
that's that's the big part of it. And I don't
think you know, in terms of like details and specific
like you just hear from more people. Guys are on
the same page. Guys are a little more this is
all in for this because think about it, though none
of those guys, I mean a lot of those guys
some of them are many of them are still around.
But who were there last year? They didn't sign up
(38:33):
for that. They came in some of them D'Antonio era,
but a lot in the mel Tucker era, and that
whole thing collapsed on them and it was a pretty
awful experience, and they wanted to give the new guy
a try, and maybe they liked it, maybe it was
a good fit, maybe it wasn't. I just think if
you're still there now, there's an understanding of what's expected
of you, how this staff operates, and this fits who
(38:54):
I am and I'm gonna I'm gonna do this, and
so it's much more Jonathan Smith and his staff's team,
and the team is much more in line with each
other and them. What that means for winning and losing,
we'll see, But I do think there is that dynamic
is definitely real.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
Some dude, couch, are you gonna give grades out one
through ten? Again? Who the fuck gives grades? Out one
through ten? Quote, how do you do? How did you do?
In math? I got a three? What the fuck's of three?
It's not good? Right? Not out of ten? No?
Speaker 4 (39:27):
No, I got some threes out of ten in high school.
This is an interesting criticism. I know other people do
fives one and through five or ABCD or whatever. This
is something. This is actually a holdover at the LSJ.
I don't know how if it goes back to Ebbling
and Larry Lage and all them. It definitely goes back
to Rex Road. So the grades were done a certain way,
(39:50):
and they were in a certain template back when like
print was the bigger way to go, and we had
it was like offense, defense, special teams, coaching, and bottom
line and even the bottom line had a number to it,
and you had to write something cute into that. And
I kind of got rid of that. But I've sort
of kept the format that was there twenty years ago.
And you know, I could change that. I can do
(40:11):
whatever I want there, and I just haven't. I kind
of I like the one through ten. It gives me
more numbers to play with than one through five or
A through D or D minus. Is different than what
they're doing at the Free Press, so I know I'm
probably gonna keep it, but it's a fair you know,
one through ten is an odd wait to grade, but
it's how I.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
Keeping the same system is twenty years ago.
Speaker 4 (40:33):
Absolutely, who lives change anyway. We're killing buddy, not in
the newspaper industreet. We're keeping the format. Go down with
the ship money bag.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
When was the last time we had an MSU football
preseason with so few storylines. I'm interested to see the
new receivers, but besides that, I know our strength, strengths
and weaknesses, and I'm just waiting around to see how
much guys improved. I want to ask more questions about
the team, but I don't really.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
Have any You're not alone, and the numbers tell me this,
and like readership numbers, I mean, like boy people and
I know it's just it's still July or it was
till yesterday, and the number of people, you know, it's
early fall camp and all that stuff. But people are
not People are just waiting for the season. They don't
they don't want to be told, they don't want smoke
(41:20):
blown up their ass about anybody. They and I do
think there's some interesting storylines and that those should be
delved into, and I do think there are storylines and questions,
Like I think the the backup quarterback situation is interesting.
I wrote about that today and the quick takes. I
think the offensive line situation is interesting, but it's sort
(41:40):
of getting written about a fair bit now and at
some point with them it's see it as believe it.
I think the and the receivers I think are potentially
a real, real strong point and I think people know
that right and so they are questions and you're learning
these guys. I do think defensively, there are interesting storylines
on playmakers versus depth and how many actual potential difference
(42:05):
makers they have on defense? How much depth do they have?
Speaker 3 (42:08):
Is it? You know? Are they gonna be? Okay?
Speaker 4 (42:10):
They're gonna be So I think there are real questions there.
And next week I think Rossi is gonna be bilble
for interviews on Monday.
Speaker 3 (42:18):
But isn't a little smoke good to read about some
players and get some hope going And yeah, we don't
care if it's in the you know, July, end of July, August.
I want to hear about some of these guys.
Speaker 4 (42:27):
And there's nothing wrong with optimism there's nothing wrong with
Little Hope, there's nothing wrong with the stories on guys.
And we're gonna write I mean, that's the job. We're
gonna keep writing them, even if the readership's kind of meh.
But like what I'm saying is, people don't want bullshit
fed to them right now about this program. They need
to see it.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
I'll take some bullshit.
Speaker 4 (42:45):
You want some bullshit, take a little bit of bullshit.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
That's what we're here. I'll give you plenty of bullshit.
I know that's what the show does. I'm talking about
the LSJ. I kind of want some bullshit. I'm here
for all right, Ben Cheulick. Next, Seeing Antonio Gates at
the Hall of Fame game reminded me he was at
Michigan State. Is he the biggest what if athlete in
MSU history? He could have been an impact player for
two sports. He led Kent State on a run to
(43:08):
the Elite eight. He might have been the difference for
that one team. He is one.
Speaker 4 (43:17):
He is a really good what if Antonio Gates where
people don't know was I mean phenomenal basketball player at
Kent State on that great run with Stan Heath in
O two.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
But he was.
Speaker 4 (43:28):
I mean, he first was Michigan State and then he
was briefly Eastern Michigan. The great what if of Antonio
Gates is Eastern Michigan where he was also playing basketball
and they had a squad and the idiot coach there
kind of ran him off and he wound up at
Kent State and that could have been a run. Like
they've Eastern Michigan's never gotten never really truly gotten past that.
(43:50):
Even Carlos Medlocke Senior couldn't overcome that a few years later.
The the what ifs at Michigan State, for I mean
throughout time there are you can look at them in
different ways, like guys who uh, you know, didn't pan
out or guys who didn't show up like could have
(44:11):
been you know what would have a money baits been
if he had come and played under his oh and
if that had worked and he had had a different track,
like you know, those are those things are There are
a lot of those guys, the guys who almost showed up,
and those guys are sometimes the what ifs we did this?
Hold on, give me some hoff one second.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
I see the stars come out of the sky. Yeah,
the bride and hollow Sky, you know, it looks so
good to nice.
Speaker 4 (44:44):
So two years ago I did a look at the
biggest what ifs in Michigan State football and basketball history,
and so here was.
Speaker 3 (44:54):
The list.
Speaker 4 (44:55):
What if Chris Weber had chosen MSU, which he nearly did,
I mean, is oh thought he had him? That would
have been a big What if Gordon Hayward has called
for a foul and Raymond Green's wrist? Do they win
a national title? What if MSU football had beaten Notre
Dame in twenty thirteen?
Speaker 3 (45:12):
Is it great? What if?
Speaker 4 (45:15):
Because you know, does that mean the Rose Bowl doesn't happen?
Do they still go on to win a national championship?
Does Andrew Maxwell if he comes in and leads that
series at the end that was a disaster at the
end of the Notre Dame game in twenty thirteen, If
he leads that series and they win the game, and
he then starts at Iowa and their ceiling is lowered,
as what, you know, it kind of had to happen
(45:36):
how it happened, I guess in that sense, what if
D'Antonio had retired after the twenty seventeen Holiday Bowl, you know,
or late in twenty nineteen instead of February twenty twenty.
What if Jared Jackson junior had returned for a sophomore year.
I think that's one that you're looking at a national
championship because he wanted to come back to some degree.
What if Aerial Powers had return to MSU for her
(45:56):
senior season, that team had a real chance to do
things that I MASU women's basketball hasn't done since so five.
What if video replay it existed in the nineteen ninety
Sweet sixteen when Kenny Anderson beat the clock but actually
didn't beat the clock. Michigan State goes to a Final four,
probably because they would have beaten Minnesota in the Elite eight,
then lost to UNLV in the Final four. But if
(46:16):
that Steve Smith team goes, you know, Jet Heath Cots
in the Hall of Fame, I think because he would
add two final fours.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
What if a.
Speaker 4 (46:26):
Point guard Emmanuel Moodier hadn't chosen SMU over Kentucky, Which
is a weird one because it's set in motion a
series of events that ended with Middle Tennessee State beating
the Spartans. Because if he hadn't done that, MSU would
have had Tyler Eulis, And there's a bunch of different things.
You can read that whole piece. What if Nick Saban
(46:46):
had decided to stay at MSU in ninety nine? There
are a bunch of these. What if Charles Rodgers had
been eligible as a true freshman now he had a
great defense but had no receivers? And what if the
pandemic didn't hit in twenty twenty?
Speaker 3 (46:58):
If Sabin one has to go up on the list though.
Speaker 4 (47:00):
Yeah, yeah, it's right up there. What if Donald Trump
hadn't run for president in twenty sixteen? Does MSHU finish
better than three and nine? How does that change? Because
that team was definitely affected, right? What if Mike Hart
doesn't refer to ms U as Michigan's little brother? Does
ms U still take over the rivalry in the coming years?
Speaker 3 (47:16):
And what?
Speaker 4 (47:17):
They're all sorts of great what ifs? You can find
that piece?
Speaker 3 (47:21):
What do you have there? That was it? O? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (47:24):
Yeah, sorry, I didn't know either. I was like holy shit.
I was like, God, this is we don't only have
so much time, it's gonna keep going. I just kept reading.
I forgot about most of these. Sometimes I actually do
interesting things once in a while.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
Yeah, anyway, Professor Bazuka to the head, who is MSU's
leading rusher this season?
Speaker 4 (47:42):
You know, I I don't it's I would just get
shot in the head because I don't know. I have
not seen these guys. You wouldn't even say a name,
no hailby no no, because the JHU colcrick well, I
mean naturally the kids from a Sack state, the transfer
is is the most polished. But you know, you hear
things about you know, Jason ms Lancing, you hear you know,
I don't know, and they're in there are different types
(48:04):
of backs. I really don't know. I have no idea,
and I would just be I don't want to even chart. Yeah,
I don't want who's on the team. I will have
a better if you asked this question a week from
now because one of the things that's going to happen
is well, they're not in pads yet, so they're playing
like shorts and you start to see some separation. That's
where you see the thighs though, well, you get a
peak in the football. You need the peak and the
(48:26):
thighs with the pads on, that's the key pad speed
is different.
Speaker 3 (48:29):
So you don't want to see any Yeah, without pads, gotcha.
Speaker 4 (48:33):
Yeah, I honestly, I don't. I mean, I you know,
I look at the four guys. Yeah, I don't know
which of the four is going to be.
Speaker 3 (48:39):
It Jarret Next. In the twenty twenty twenty one MSU
versus Michigan game, do you think Michigan got confused on
their signals on the quick snaps that allowed MSU to win? Also,
it seems that at least one safety in the near
the line of scrimmage most plays. Do you think they
just were too slow to catch Walker?
Speaker 4 (49:01):
I mean, Walker was brilliant that day, and Michigan State
was really good and that was still peak, you know,
but they have both receivers that did want them to
get hurt in that game. But either way, I mean,
I don't know what happened, if anything happened beyond that
in terms of and I know Michigan wasn't in full
(49:21):
fledged have all the answers mode quite yet. But the
other thing is, Kenneth Walker was one of those players
in college football that comes along that even when you
have the answers, when he's full going, he's healthy, he
was just tough to stop. And that was the pinnacle
of his time and he'll be a legend forever.
Speaker 3 (49:41):
Four Steve Whitteko. Next, my cousin Jake Hiller passed unexpectedly
MSU class of ninety seven. He hated Michigan more than
anyone I know in his honor, Can he provide a
time or event when you're disdained for Michigan peaked? My
first love was a wolverine and slept with my best
friend while we were st all together. First of all, Steve,
(50:03):
sorry to hear about your cousins. And I don't think
we can top having a Michigan fan. Bang your chick. No,
all right, your best friend with a chick.
Speaker 4 (50:13):
I'm trying to think, Like, so my peak anti Michigan
time is like early teens, right, because you're impressiable. Like
I remember when they went to the Final four and
eighty nine. You know, I was like nine, ten years old,
but I was still I mean, I thought that was
really cool. I wore these Michigan shorts around. I was impressionable,
you know. It's like that was when the Bad Boys
were great. Yeah, well, the Fab five I remember. I Yeah,
(50:34):
I was impressionable about them. Like I used to watch
walk Pigeon toed because of Jalen Rose and Andrea Agassi,
Like I.
Speaker 3 (50:39):
Was take a drink, yeah, and but you're doing the
couch drinking game home. I didn't. I was.
Speaker 4 (50:45):
I was rooting for I remember being like thirteen in
rooting for North Carolina against Michigan.
Speaker 3 (50:51):
I'm trying to Jesus, how could you root for that? Dude?
Speaker 4 (50:56):
Yeah, I needed that guy. Peak hatred was probably Man, okay,
I'll give you it. This is just a personal So
I'm this is probably ninety seven, the last you know,
I'm still in my yeah, first year Atlantic Community College
and still living here. I just remember there was a
(51:18):
they used to have these cow bells and where we
sat at MSU football games, Me and my dad were
really near the Michigan section, and this guy would just
keep hitting the bell that that that go blue, and
it was just it was like constant, and Michigan's beating
the living shit out of It's like twenty four to
seven or something like that, and it was just really frustrating.
(51:39):
The bell was just constant, and I remember that moment
that is probably my peak, Like I want to throw
that guy over the freaking wall there, because he was
like the top level of of section four there at
Spartan State.
Speaker 3 (51:50):
Do you hear that, Michigan fans? That was it?
Speaker 4 (51:52):
If you want to menoy Michigan State fans seventeen years old?
Uh still, and I was probably the peak of my disdain.
But it was a guy with a cow bell.
Speaker 3 (52:01):
But really, if it could have been anyone with a
cow bell doing that anywhere, if you were like the
Ingham County Fair or something. Yeah, there was a around things.
Speaker 4 (52:09):
Are going wrong in the game. There was a smugness
to him. You had this ponytail. It was I was
ready to just ponytails usually do that. Yeah, it adds
on too, sparty barb.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
Next, what is the best donut you've eaten from a
shop outside of the state of Michigan. I have to
go with Bogarts Donuts in Minneapolis. Their brown butterglazed donut
is amazing, sweet and buttery. I can't do it. Yeah,
I mean either. I don't know any other donuts. I swear,
I'm not even saying that, sparty bar but I just don't.
Speaker 4 (52:38):
We were it was. I was with Solari in an
airport somewhere and they had the I will what's the
what's the famous donuts? They have out wet water west
out West. It's like a fuck me, hold on, let
me give me. It's like a give me, its mean
fought free fuck me, he said.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Krispy Kreme.
Speaker 4 (53:09):
No, it's like a really popular or famous donuts place.
Speaker 3 (53:12):
And why is it dunkin donutsos.
Speaker 4 (53:17):
Oh, it's a Voodoo Voodoo Donuts. Voodoo anyway, And there
was this one in the airport and Slari gets thanks Google, Yeah,
Google can kiss my ass. Just suck just completely West
Coast Donuts search.
Speaker 3 (53:36):
No.
Speaker 4 (53:36):
I found it because I was trying to remember the
airport were anyway, there's Voodoo Donuts and Solari gets in line.
He's like, you want to get and I basically it
was like I can't do it. I mean, I I
know that Andrew Monica from Groovy Donuts aren't here, but
it will feel like cheating on Groovy Donuts and I
just can't do it. So I haven't really done it
outside of it. And they I'm not saying that they
are like they try other local businesses and love good
(53:57):
donuts and give recommendations. I just I would feel about
doing it, and we have such great donuts here and
there's just for me. You know there's there's just no comparison.
Speaker 3 (54:05):
Thomas next good. A system like the net rankings with
auto bids for conference champs only solve the scheduling issues
we're seeing in football at places like AU and the SEC.
Speaker 4 (54:21):
The problem with no is I think football is a
more complex situation. You do have like things like the
sarrogen ratings, and there are things that you know, you
can put computers together to do certain things, and maybe
we could get there. I I think the answer is,
I mean it begins. It begins with a certain uniformity
(54:45):
in scheduling. If you, if ever you got to play
ten forget the home I mean the home road would help.
But if you have to play ten teams who are
power for conference teams and you start there, that would
give a computer a chance. I think to judge certainty,
you know, it's a good question. I think the other
thing is we have to get to a point where
(55:05):
we punish teams for trying to skirt the system, and
if there's a real consequences, like people here want CMU
to have the death penalty for what they did to
Michigan State. People want Michigan to have the death penalty
for what they have Michigan State. I wanted Michigan to
be punished for playing eight home games. I wanted I
(55:27):
want Indiana to be ineligible for the postseason for playing
eight home games. I think that's bullshit. I think that's
freaking bullshit that you play eight home games. I think
it's skirting the system. I wouldn't make the eligibly, and
I would shame the shit out of you for doing it.
If you play home games and Michigan State ever does it,
I'll shame the shit out of them. I'll freaking write
in every three quick takes, this is this is bullshit.
I do not ever play home games. You got twelve
(55:48):
of them. Twelve games.
Speaker 3 (55:50):
You're telling me I get to play eight home games
and piss you off. Yeah, scheduling that so fast? Oh
my god. Uh Thomas, I'm sure the access is somewhat limited.
So what do reporters actually look for at fall camps
to learn about the team?
Speaker 4 (56:05):
Thighs not to thighs. No, that's that's a really good question.
Because the access is limited, we usually get you know,
five or six units or periods as they're called. There
are like five six minutes apiece, and they're very rarely.
Occasionally you'll get a team deal, but usually it's individually the.
Speaker 3 (56:24):
Two wide receiver curls couch gout at the the other
day at practice, what.
Speaker 4 (56:29):
You do so valuable. You do see guys who are injured.
You see guys who are on the you know, who
aren't playing or are injured jerseys, and that's something to
ask about later. You know, you know is in the
back of your head. The other thing you can see
is sometimes you can see the order in which guys
are taking reps. I think sometimes the most important thing
everyone trying to see great plays and oh boy, that's interesting,
look out for that guy. But more it's like, okay,
(56:49):
look who's taking the reps? Is the number one running back?
So you asked that question the question earlier about the
running backs, like as they get into pads and they
have open sessions, who's lining up first, who's taking the
first reps? That's the stuff you get a sense of
uh in those and so I think that has some value,
but there isn't a ton of value in it. It's
not like the whole practice is open. But you know,
(57:11):
every once a while you get something, and so it's
worth being there for that but it is tricky, and
you're you're looking for guys who are missing, you're looking
for guys who are injured, and then you're looking for
the you know, the order, who's playing with the ones
and twos and things like that are always important.
Speaker 3 (57:26):
Matt C. Next, Graham, next time you interview Chiles, can
you ask him to mf the Michigan program after they
beat him this year, There'll be a Spartan legend forever.
If he calls them cheating, classless scumbags after the game.
Speaker 4 (57:40):
He would be if they you have to win for
that to work. Yes, yeah, that's the big, big start.
You look, you look like you're whining if you say
it otherwise, But yeah, if if, yeah, if you could
come and child stands out there and goes, ah, it's
good to beat those cheating class class of scumbags.
Speaker 3 (58:03):
This one's for Matt c. Motherfuckers. Yeah, people would be
two fingers.
Speaker 4 (58:06):
He would be carried around on people's shoulders in East
Lancing for the rest of his life without question.
Speaker 3 (58:12):
Matt cee, where do you think Dominic met his ex girlfriend?
Crack house, dark side of ricks a Lancing Sexton bathroom.
I bet it was one hell of a night.
Speaker 4 (58:24):
I actually know, but that's not my story to share,
so Dominic can decide if he wants to go into
that realm.
Speaker 3 (58:31):
It's a Lancing Sexton bathroom.
Speaker 4 (58:33):
It was not, however, it was not at Midtown Brewing Company, which,
by the way, this Saturday night, live music, seven pm.
Speaker 3 (58:42):
And it looks great.
Speaker 4 (58:45):
I mean they've got it's John Beltran This Saturday seven
to ten thirty Midtown Brewing Company, downtown Lansing. You're looking
like a fun date night. Come right downtown to the
Midtown Brewing Company. The food is fantastic, the drinks are
great and music seven to ten thirty Saturday night at
midtom Bruin.
Speaker 3 (59:03):
Does Bell Train and have a new album out? I
don't know. Detroy Spartan next, any chance we can get
an appearance by Jim Camperoni on a future show, also couch,
what is your red Seater message board user name?
Speaker 4 (59:16):
I am Jim Comparoni on if people don't know that
there is never seen. I actually I have a whole
mask and everything that put it on it.
Speaker 3 (59:23):
I wish we could get Jason Colethorpe doing Jim Camperoni
on the show because I don't know if COMP would
come on here, well, won't come on here. I don't
know what, I don't know. We could ask COMP to
come on. It would make my day.
Speaker 4 (59:34):
We could ask Colethorpe to come on and pretend to
be Comparoni. Oh it's so good, but it's really good. Yeah,
it's stout. He does a good trump.
Speaker 3 (59:42):
I think too. Okay, Yeah, David Cox, Connor, you're good,
said he doesn't see a pro and Nick marsh on
Evelyn Show two episodes ago, I promise you, he said this. Oh,
we're gonna trust you. I see elite speed, size and
the ability to catch the jump balls with a great hands.
What is on her ear Good scene that I am not.
Speaker 4 (01:00:01):
I gotta go back and listen to this.
Speaker 3 (01:00:02):
I don't know. And why don't we just have ear
Good on to explain himself? Okay, we can do that.
Save yourself the pain and negative listening to that. My god,
you have a clip. I don't yeah, I don't know.
I don't know what. You have his number, don't you?
I do call him right now, right now? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:00:18):
Yeah, see what he says. I'm not gonna put him
on a spot like that, but it would be Connor
you're on air right now. It's a weird thing to say.
I don't know why he said it. It's I guess
it's his opinion on that. It's like your opinion, man,
But uh, why don't we just have him on next Wednesday?
He can come on, give him a whole explain the
(01:00:39):
advance notice that he could come on, and then he
could explain we heard a rumor Connor ear Goood. On Wednesday,
we can talk to him about, you know, the idea
of the blue Wall and being a Michigan all that stuff.
All right, well, we'll do it a great day. Fire up,
can chew Graham?
Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
How did you let Evelyn beat you to interviewing bass
Master Elite series? He's turing pro and whole native. Chad Pipkins,
he's just better than me, he always asks me, And
I can't. I can't, yeh, Chad Pipkins rules. But man,
if you can stretch that into twenty minutes like evelinkn
that's why he's a legend. Yeah, holy shit, Skyler Verdon,
how hot does it have to be for you to
(01:01:16):
no longer enjoy golf? Jason? I live in Florida, and
summer golf just isn't fun. Beers get lukewarm and I
end up sweating, like I'm playing basketball or something. Yeah,
I went and hit balls. Was it Monday? And I
was sweating my ass off. So yeah, it isn't really
fun when it's that that hot out. So I can
agree with you on that. I'm a huge fan of
(01:01:38):
fall golf. It's my favorite. It's the best. Yeah, it
is the best. I do like, but yeah, the heat,
when it's that humid out, it's almost impossible to have
fun golfing out there, especially.
Speaker 4 (01:01:47):
I mean, one of the advantages of being in sports
writers get you have a weird schedule where like you
can go on sometimes like a Monday at ten am
in golf or whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:01:54):
But the only thing that's good to tell people when
you you know, people are grinding out of forty five
hour or a week schedule. You know that's that's fair.
I mean, I'm not.
Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
I'm not I have a charmed life. I'm not denying
sounds like denying that the But the only thing that
sucks about fall golf is when the leaves really start
to fall on you. You know, you have to play
yourself a couple extra mulligans. Your house bring a leaf blower.
Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
Yeah, yeah, I bet I brought into my trunk and
then I realized it wasn't gonna fit in the golf cart.
So that's the problem with that. So you need a
smaller one. Uh dox Portello next couch. I have a
rowdy night plan in the heart of Portland this weekend
as the Timbers take on Corier too. Cottaro out of
Lega MX. Are you living to me?
Speaker 4 (01:02:37):
No, Beauve.
Speaker 3 (01:02:40):
Same the MX at the iconic Providence Park. You gotta
check it out. I know you can probably analyze Mexican
soccer better than MSU football summer camp. So what do
you got?
Speaker 4 (01:02:50):
Well, I actually one of my closest friends is yes,
got powers friends with the guy, one of the guys
who owns They just bought Quataro the League of MX,
so knows the owner. He was in Minneapolis. Can you
ask Scott how to pronounce it? But what I do
know about them is they do not Actually they definitely
(01:03:14):
don't have a striker. They definitely don't have enough talent
to threaten teams. I would put my money on on Portland,
but the I need to get the Providence Park and
it's just one of those things I haven't done. At
some point we'll do. Part of the reason I don't
think we did it originally is we do when we
do our MLB MLS trip, Like Portland doesn't have an
(01:03:35):
MLB team, so when we do those as a double.
We've not gone to Portland yet, but I do. There's
the Hillsboro Hops, which are not far away. It's a
minor league team there. A friend of my dad's is
one of the owners of that team. I guess all
my people do own teams, these stays, And why aren't
you friends with these people? Friends of Well, it's actually
it's a cool thing. I wish, you know, I would
(01:03:56):
love to do something like this. I think a bunch
of people went in on buying a minor league team.
Like he's not like he's like some rich money bags people.
But there might be like forty people on this team,
and it's like forty people. I probably costs more than that,
but it's you know, it's it, and they do it.
Speaker 3 (01:04:10):
You know they do a.
Speaker 4 (01:04:13):
H Yeah, they do a thing every year where they
all get together and go to a game. And my
mom usually still goes out for it and stuff like that.
So so Maody We'll do our Hillsboro hops Portland, then
go to a providence of Park Portland timbers week one
of these years.
Speaker 3 (01:04:27):
Max. Next, how are the academics handled at these high
school academies that so many high end basketball and football
players are attending. Are they taking online classes? Are there
actually teachers or are they spending part of the day
at some type of local school. Then going back to
a training facility for athletics, does the clearing house still exist?
And are there still academic requirements for freshmen eligibility?
Speaker 4 (01:04:52):
I don't know how all of them exist, and some
of them go way back, those Nick Bolitaria academies, you
know where Agassi and Sampras went and all those and
who who knows what kind of actual degree that they
came away with there? And how much school there was
And that was before online classes, so there were teachers. Yeah,
there was school. A lot of tennis, but a lot
of school. So you know, it's a good question. And
(01:05:14):
how much of it is rigorous academics Maybe it's pretty
good some places. I just I don't know, that's a
good question. The clearing How does a clearing house still exist?
I mean, there are academics requirements for freshman eligibility for sure,
that still absolutely exists.
Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
Wit a user name, character character. If the LSJ suddenly
starts paying per word, would your three hot takes not
be the Old Man and the Sea? That's the incentive, correct,
Wins and strength are the incentive, not strength of schedule
Until the committee incentivizes sos get the wins. Five win
(01:05:51):
teams don't go to bulls over six win teams. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:05:54):
I can't remember exactly what I used the word questioning
people's character for, and if it was, I remember almost
instantly think that was the wrong usage of the word
and really sounds like it worked, got people worked up. Yeah,
it was more more reflection of my character, but the
so I don't remember the exact moment, but I just
it was poor word choice and and not not great.
Speaker 3 (01:06:16):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:06:16):
I look, I get this that winds are the strength
are when winds are the incentive strength of schedule and
I hate it.
Speaker 3 (01:06:25):
I hate it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:25):
I don't have to like it, though, And I can
call you a coward, not not you personally would have
used name, but I can call like teams a coward
and their scheduling and I can say it don't belong
and I can say I wish it was different, and
that's my right to do too. And it's it's fine
if people want to be cowards and not the spirit
of competition and create shitty experiences where they play Youngstown
State seven times a season, they can do that, and
I hope fans stop showing up. I I just I
(01:06:48):
get it, and I get the playoff is the thing
to get to. I just wish there were some basic parameters, uh,
for these cowardly asses out there to actually schedule decent
experiences for their fans and games that were competitive on
the same resource level and all that. So I just
wish it existed. And yeah, maybe that's just me coward.
Speaker 3 (01:07:09):
Would he use their name? That said the top of
your show is usually a guy with serious women issues,
let alone knee jerk Spartan takes and seventy five percent
of the regular talk is about gambling and drug intake.
So playing the hand yourd delts doesn't seem like it
should be the largest character influence here. Touche, is that
(01:07:29):
the description of our show it is is that on
the app is that how it describes it. It says
a guy was serious serious women's knee jerk Spartan takes
and drug intake. Yeah, fantastic. All right, Aiden's child next.
So Jay Riemenschneider, you're telling me that if the shoe
were on the opposite foot and mel won a national
championship and it was proven that he cheated to do
(01:07:51):
it and recruiting benefited from the on field success, Michigan
fans wouldn't care if state received any punishment from the NCAA.
Of course it would not buy an. Of course, you
know what.
Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
Everybody returns their own silos on this. And yeah, I
mean if this were Ohio State, because it has been
Ohio state before, you know, in tattoo Gate and all
that stuff, and like Michigan fans would be up in arms.
And it's just the way it works, there's no question
about it. I am hoping whatever punishment happens happened this month.
(01:08:21):
So there is the resolution and reaction to it. Can
can sort of begin money bag.
Speaker 3 (01:08:26):
There are two possibilities Lake Korum was in business with
Connor Stallions and therefore ineligible or Connor Stallion's committed felony fraud.
Why hasn't any writer done any digging into that story?
Speaker 4 (01:08:39):
There are a lot of journalism deserts in this country,
and that's just not a really important n kidding, it's
a fair question.
Speaker 3 (01:08:49):
I welcome to the blue wall. That's the answer. At Eves.
Is it wrong for a grown man in his thirties
who works in high schools to have his dating napp age?
I aim set to eighteen and nineteen, asking again for
counter stallions, What did he do that? What does that?
I mean, that's not a high eighteen nineteen, that's out
(01:09:10):
of high school technically.
Speaker 4 (01:09:11):
Well, yeah, I mean it's not it's not illegal in
it's thirty. It's a little creepy, it is.
Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
I mean, eighteen nineteen if you're okay, if.
Speaker 4 (01:09:19):
You're in your thirties, eighty ask teenagers is a little
creepy if that's your app. It's not like I mean,
I'm not saying that it's impossible for a thirty one
year old to meet a nineteen year old, to hit
it off and to then wind up having a beautiful
life together. I know, Belichick, right, Well, I'm not Again,
I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm just saying, if what
you're seeking in your app is eighteen to nineteen and
you're in your thirties. There's a creepiness element to one
(01:09:42):
hundred percent not talking about this. You know, if you
happen if you're Barista happens to be nineteen, and you
hit it off and you wind up having a magical
life together. That's different than like seeking it out on
you know, on an app.
Speaker 3 (01:09:55):
Fart soup? Have you ever trusted a fart that betrayed you?
I'm forty six. Never. I don't trust farts anymore. Here
you go, my butt is on a toilet. If I
feel anything, I got to run to the bathroom because
I don't trust a damn thing anymore. I mean I
feel healthy, don't get me wrong, but it's just you're
getting up there farts soup. How come I can't drink
a beer anymore? Beer keeps me up, makes me feel bloated.
(01:10:18):
White wine, on the other hand, I could drink all
day like a thirsty lesbian. It's such a happier buzz
to compared to beer. You feel like a thirsty lesbian.
My friend, you found the right drink for you. I
guess absolutely to each their own people, you know, sounds terrible.
Whatever you like, whatever doesn't give you a hangover, whatever,
you use the best, feel whatever you can handle best.
(01:10:39):
I think that's people knowing their own it's easier. Yeah, well,
there you go, people knowing their own thing. For me, donuts,
donuts make me happiest. And if you want the best
high this weekend without alcohol, I would tell you a
groovy donut is there for you. It won't literally make
you high, but it'll just bring you joy. I'll go
to Groovy donuts dot com. Place your order today, swing
by either location seven am to one pm Thursday through Sunday.
(01:11:01):
Awesome selection there. Andrew and Monica do an amazing job.
And if you want something personally done for any event
for yourself, you know, if you just want hashtag fire
Jonathan Smith on a donut, they will do it. They'll
do it, not a big hub cap. Whatever you want,
they'll they'll do for you again groovydonuts dot com. Fart
Soup Jason, when are you coming to Romania with me?
Miss Fart Soup and mister ben Jen It's glorious. I mean,
(01:11:24):
drinking is a big part of their culture, but they
also love cigarettes. So a bit of Sophie's choice for you.
How far is Romania? That trip must be brutal. I'm
twelve hour flight for ten hour flight. I gnive you
that have no idea. You don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:11:39):
Well, England's like eight, so right, so it's probably more.
Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
Than that, but not much. Nine. Yeah, Hans Jurgen, Doeszzo
recruit too many small guards? I say yes? Does Graham
talk about donuts too much? I say he's changed the
way we think about donuts. Michigan fans has fuck me,
I say fuck them. Hans says it all fit out,
all of it. Yeah, yeah, too many small guards. I mean,
(01:12:03):
somebody pointed out the other day that when I was
talking about the small guards that Izzo has passed up on,
that he also did get Foster Lawyer as a small
guarden did not work. But I think the lawyer situation
was for other reasons mostly, but it was a good point,
like small guards do come with risk. I just think
there are a lot of examples of small guards that
(01:12:23):
have been passed up on where coaches couldn't then find
a point guard, or got fired or didn't win to
their maximum ability. Next one from Hans, can Weed help
me concentrate? Stop obtrusive thoughts? Oh? Absolutely, there's all sorts
of strains that can help even people like Hans.
Speaker 4 (01:12:40):
I would think even people like Hans, Well, he's asking.
Speaker 3 (01:12:45):
Hans Jergen, is it okay to eat at other donut
local shops went outside mid Michigan. Jason shamey for eating
at a locally owned donut shop in Nashville.
Speaker 4 (01:12:54):
I think eating local is always great. Supporting local businesses
is always great at whatever town you are in. And
when you're in this town, you know groovy donuts is
is not just supporting them, but you're doing yourself a face.
Speaker 3 (01:13:05):
I wasn't shaming. I was more of talking. When we
were in Nashville and Te tried, you know, t wanted
to go to this donut shop and I just couldn't
do it. I didn't want to do it. You can, Hans,
do whatever you want. Man. Next one, can you express
to Jason how much he means to you that you
love him and he makes your loneliness disappear.
Speaker 4 (01:13:23):
Forget it may be weird here? Yeah, I mean he does,
he does mean, he means the world to me. But
I don't know how else to say that.
Speaker 3 (01:13:29):
Thank God, Hans Jurgen, are those are those of on
blue sky? But hurt pussies Blue Sky isn't this from
Blue Sky? Isn'ts on there?
Speaker 4 (01:13:42):
Yeah, Hans oh Ship, Yeah, Blue Sky is the best. Yeah,
Blue Guy's a place where it's it's a happier place,
it's a little less toxic. But you're right, you don't
like Twitter, Google, but pro Blue Sky. Well, I blue
Sky's issues. I have my issues of Blue Sky because
I like I like threads what happened to Threads? I
(01:14:03):
like places where there's dissenting opinion, where there's discourse, where
the's people who disagree with you, and and there's a
little that in Blue Sky. But you know, you just
don't speaking to the choir and anything is not satisfying entirely.
That's my issue with Blues Guy.
Speaker 3 (01:14:15):
Jake Hawkins, who do you think will eventually replace George
Blaha and Will Teaman as the MSU football and basketball
radio play by play guys?
Speaker 4 (01:14:23):
No idea the both will be a big deals because
you know, obviously people have been waiting to replace team
and for a while a lot of people for all that,
and and Blaha is a legend, so like, yeah, it'll
it'll be a coveted gig.
Speaker 3 (01:14:37):
It'll be a big deal. And they're you know, they're blaha,
do like a farewell thing like Ozzie did, like a
semi concert and we can just final year praise blaha.
I love it, Damn Jay Hawkins. Should the Tigers have
tried to get a hitter like Suarez who went to
the Mariners?
Speaker 4 (01:14:54):
Put have been nice?
Speaker 3 (01:14:55):
Yeah? The Mariners look good. It's just but it's gonna
sign with the Mariners, that's the question. That's the big deal.
I don't want to give up prospects for a rental
guy who just got hit in the hand. By the way,
yep uh, Jake, I'm late with this question, but is
it a big loss for MSU hockey that Gavin McKenna
chose Penn State.
Speaker 4 (01:15:15):
It's it's not so much a big loss as sort
of what might have been like it would have been incredible,
I mean because he if he is indeed, and sometimes
these guys get overhyped, you know, I mean, Jabari Parker
didn't wind up being the next Lebron James, right. But
if Gavin McKenna is like a Sidney Crosby type, right,
and you're talking, that's the level of prospect what that
(01:15:35):
how fun that would have been?
Speaker 3 (01:15:37):
Mun?
Speaker 4 (01:15:38):
I don't know as a team is with young guys.
They've got a loaded team. I don't know how much
their team is gonna be hurt by it, but it
would have been cool. And that's just not gonna happen. That's,
you know, it's something that's not gonna not gonna be anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
Jake Hawkins, how do you feel or what do you
feel is an appropriate punishment for Central Michigan University now
that they've received the notice of allegations in the counter
Stallion's case.
Speaker 4 (01:16:00):
Yeah, we talked about this earlier. I really think it's
I mean, I don't know what the ncaao'll do, but
to me, if I were MSU, what I would want
as I would want a formal public apology from them,
and i'd probably want if I were you know, I'd
probably want some private apologies too, but i'd want a
formal public apology that acknowledged it. And then I you know,
(01:16:21):
i'd be inclined still to take one of the future
scheduled games away. This doesn't have to be. Central Michigan
University is bigger than Amy Follan. It's bigger than the
people are there now. They're just stewards for the moment,
right you don't, but there needs to be some recognition
of what they did was improper and again into the
spirit of competition and just complete bs and and that
(01:16:41):
their behavior since then has not been ideal either, and
that needs to exist.
Speaker 3 (01:16:46):
To some level. Next one from the hawk, Are you
guys thinking of growing mustaches to match Riley Green and
bring luck to the tigers? I would look horrible with
a mustache if I could grow and I would grow
a mustache. Yeah, I just I'm forty six years old
and I cannot grow facial hair.
Speaker 4 (01:17:01):
Yes, I mean it looks like I mean when I
the problem is if I grow something too thick and
I had this look for a while, It's like, uh,
if my girl go teager thing, it just looks like
shit on my face. It's not a good it's it's not.
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
A good look.
Speaker 4 (01:17:15):
I do hear your voice in my head when I
take a ship.
Speaker 3 (01:17:18):
Upperneck jer guy, Which of the two of you would
survive better in prison? Not jail? Oh boy? I mean
I would not do well. I don't know. You would
last probably a week. I mean you should survive. I
think I would.
Speaker 4 (01:17:32):
I would attach myself to whichever group was going to
help protect me. I know which group would.
Speaker 3 (01:17:39):
Grab me uverdeck jer guy. Is Aiden Child's closer to
the Heisman or being benched.
Speaker 4 (01:17:49):
It's another another good or with the like the Jonathan Smith,
whether he'll be the savior or there'll be hashtags fire
Jonathan's terrible question. What are you talking about? Well, because
anything about that it is a heisman. It's a go
either way thing if you look at those two things,
I mean, you're talking about a big time talent. You're
not talking about this isn't you know Peyton Thorne where
his ceiling was being a good college quarterback. I mean,
(01:18:10):
Aidan Childs just from a physical talent perspective, has the
sort of talent. The problem for the reason you would
say it's being benched. And I don't think he's likely
to be benched, but you're talking about heisman or being
benched on that pendulum is to win the Heisman, you
have to get on the radar early and you have
to win a lot as a quarterback. And I don't
know if MSU has the team to create that hype early.
(01:18:31):
It's possible. I mean he could have a huge September
where he puts up all sorts of huge yards and
all of a sudden he's on the radar. But you know,
and they're unlikely to bench him either. But I'm just saying,
if you're talking either or I would say it's probably benched.
Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
Jerk guy, what's your safe word? What's your safe word?
Speaker 5 (01:18:50):
Like?
Speaker 3 (01:18:50):
What are we doing? What are you talking about? Why
do I need a safe word? That would be my
first question. I don't want to have to have a
safe word in any scenario.
Speaker 4 (01:18:57):
I thought it was that igodao, the thing the lion
saying from Harry. Isn't your safe for it?
Speaker 3 (01:19:02):
Yeahna yaba gita Jared God that one word.
Speaker 4 (01:19:09):
Yeah, that's a safe word. Okay, jerk guy. Making a
trip to Eastern Europe, should I visit pooch or was?
Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
Yeah? All right, hold on, let me look. That cannot
be a word. It's a place. It's not even a thing.
It can't a place. W y t r z y.
Speaker 4 (01:19:25):
It's a place czk. It's a beautiful village in Poland.
Oh my goodness, you should definitely go there. Let me
look at the other one. Hold on, that's that The
w y t r z a places is a highly
recommend absolutely, I mean, fucking everybody, Master baits. Let's see
what this other place is h This guy hates Google. Oh,
this place doesn't look bad either. It's a town in Slovenia.
(01:19:48):
I would go with the first though. Just yeah, you
guys felt all of fred human.
Speaker 3 (01:19:53):
All right, a prettict jerk guy. Does muskots make flan
along underwear?
Speaker 4 (01:19:58):
I don't think so, but they should. Yeah, we're starting
to get you. We're a month away from you know,
start talking flannel season a little bit. We're getting back
to Muscock's time for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
And finally from the jerk guy, can you send me
a dozen groovy donuts?
Speaker 4 (01:20:13):
I don't know if we will do that for you,
but it is I do that for him. Yeah, okay,
but it's the nicest thing you can do for just
about anybody. Send him a dozen groovy donuts. It says
you care, and they'll know you care. It look a
dozen groovy donuts. You're bringing somebody joy. It's quality. It's
just you're gonna make somebody happy. We appreciate groovy donuts,
and we of course appreciate all of you. Go to
