Speaker 1 (02:24):
Co host host.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
He does it all here at ESPN the Fan. We
call him the bucket getter, Ronald, the three man weaver.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
What's up, Ronnie? What's up? Buckets?
Speaker 5 (02:34):
We're given last night? Is branding myself for down at
Marriott manus. I will say this though before because I'm
gonna get reprimended by fans. I know, Royn't you always
saw Hoop? It's pregame before the football?
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Why are you doing it? We'll say this. I'll be
there at Arizona tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
You can catch all the stuff on Ben's Twitter. Patient
for the content, but most importantly, to start off on
a good note, Happy birthday, Kalani Sataga.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
That's right, man Kalan fifty.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Kilanie Sitak is fifty years old. He's in his tenth
year as the BYU Cougar football coach.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
He got this.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Job at forty, He was one of the youngest coaches
in college football when he received the call from Tom
Holmo thh the goat of all ads, and he accepted.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
He said, this is my dream job, this is the
job for me.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
This is the job that that h that I've always wanted,
and he got it.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
And how would we describe the last ten years?
Speaker 4 (03:34):
You know, especially the last five years, it's been a
pretty sweet.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
U inside out. You know.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
We've had sadness, Yeah, you've had We've had We've had joy,
we've had anger. You know, Sorry, I don't know what
that was, but I think inside Out is the best
of describe.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
You know.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
That got that got a lot of clicks and views
when I had that funny one. I'm not always funny,
but I can hear every now and now. I think
the inside out's a perfect reference. There's been glory, there's
been sadness, there's an anger, there's you know, been trial tribulation.
But overall, Kilanie's had a very successful ten years and
he's going to have a successful you know, the next
ten as well.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
He's building a championship program is what I'm seeing.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
I've said it many times on this show. If you
give Kilanie the resources necessary as a figurehead of this
football program, He's going to take it to new heights.
When he got the job, I said, look, the floor
is going to be lower than what it was with Bronco,
but the ceiling will be much higher. And I think
that's what we're seeing right now in the modern era,
(04:36):
and we're seeing Kilani build inroads that very few coaches
that represent or have represented as an assistant or as
a head coach could do. The other coach that was
able to do it at a very high level was
Lavelle Edwards and opening up doors to people that were
unfamiliar with BYU and even the latter day Saint Faith.
(04:59):
And Kilani has done that and will continue to do
that while building a championship program. Acquiring high level coaches. Mean,
if you're a coach, if you're an assistant coach, high
level coach, why wouldn't you want to coach at BYU, right,
Why wouldn't you want to coach under Kolonie Satake. He
lets you do what you want to do, you know,
he delegates and you can maximize your abilities here.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
And that's what Leavell did really well.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
He was the master delegator and Kilani's taking a page
out of the levelle book, in my opinion, and we're
grateful he was born. Happy birthday to Kilani. I just
texted him. In fact, I don't know. He rarely answers
because especially during the season, but I did text him say, hey,
happy birthday, bro. Grateful you were born, and grateful that
you know. He offered me essentially my first scholarship. He
(05:47):
and Scott Giles to Eastern Arizona Junior College in Thatcher
in Safford, Arizona coached me up after he was released.
He was at one of the lowest points in his
life in his career when he was released from the Bengals.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
And he's like, now what do I do?
Speaker 4 (06:04):
And he got a job coaching the defensive backs and
the special teams in a podunk town maybe combined. I
think there was maybe fifteen thousand people out there in
Thatcher Safford's where Spencer W.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Kimball was born and raised and got to coach upc.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
It was I'm the only white cornerback that he's ever
offered a scholarship to, So that that's my claim to fame.
I'm the only white cornerback that he's ever offered a
scholarship to. And you know, I hope I made him proud.
I hope I made him proud as a football player
and that you know. And I salute him. I love
him and appreciate him. So I appreciate you bring that up.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
That it is.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
Kilanie's birthday was also welcome in the hammer Time show
Brent Hammer hammer Time, How the are you?
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Buddy? Oh?
Speaker 6 (06:53):
Sorry, guys, I I was just showing on some Sataki
road in honor of Kilanie's fifty birthday.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Yeah, shout out to Kilani.
Speaker 6 (07:02):
Shout out to fifty, an age that I'll never be
because I've decided, as of this year, I will be
twenty seven for the rest of my life, because as
soon as I turn twenty five, I realized it was
just downhill to thirty.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
And I never want to turn thirty.
Speaker 6 (07:16):
And I realize that's aging and dating myself for a
lot of the people who listen to this show. And
I realize how lucky I am to not be thirty.
Yet I understand you're telling me I'm too young, this,
that and the other thing. I understand. I know I'm
wrong for this, but I don't want to be thirty.
So I'm gonna be twenty seven forever if it makes
you feel any better, just so you know, young too, Yeah,
every man.
Speaker 4 (07:37):
And I think Vic included here Vic on the data aggregation.
Our mindset is still that of a twenty five year old.
We believe in our mind like I'm Ben Quittle at
forty two.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
I think two, well November, so Varre's forty three. I
don't even know. I think it's yeah, forty three. It
was also just twenty seven. For the rest of I
am twenty.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Five, Like in my mind, I am twenty five, Like
that's who I am, and I'm not I will not
deviate from that.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
And my wife's like, why are you such a juvenile?
Like why are you such a child?
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Like I will always be like this morning, I'm getting
ready for work and the kids are there.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
My wife had to run some errands and so.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
I had them, and I'm getting ready for work, and
you know, I'm putting on the music and me and
my kiddos were dancing. We're dancing and having a good time,
and and uh, you know, that's that's twenty five year
old Ben.
Speaker 6 (08:33):
The question I have to ask is like so people
who act old have they just been acting this way
since the day they turned like eighteen, and they just
decided they wanted to be those people from the progressive
commercials who are turning into their parents. They just started
that way when they were eighteen. Because the way I
see it is like my wife is the same way.
By the way, Yeah, like my nephews he's eighteen months
(08:57):
and like literally whatever he wants to, like, I'll go
do it with him. Like we have this little dump
truck that I'll push him around in the kitchen. Sometimes
I'll sit in and take right. She's like, you're such
an idiot, like you're twenty seven. I'm like, no, dude,
Like this is my best friend, Like my eighteen month
old nephew, Like, I never.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Want to get old. I don't want to be in
that progressive commercial. Why are you such a child?
Speaker 4 (09:18):
Well it's an interesting study, right, I think eventually you
know there's there's external factors, societal factors that force you
into maybe becoming that jaded adult that's like I just
gotta I gotta be stern. I gotta be stoic, I
have to be unemotional, I have to be business oriented.
(09:38):
I gotta go operate, I gotta go execute, and there's
no time for fun. And they're like that there is
a fight or flight meganism. There's a Darwinistic element to
all this, and so like there are people that have,
you know, maybe been downtrodden by life, and they're.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Like, I just just trying to survive, baby, And.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
It's not never necessarily as much about fun. But I
will say this much deep down, all of us, man,
we're even though life he's uh, Judo chopped us in
the throat roundhouse, kicked us into the gut. You know,
a bowling ball has been dropped on our balls, on
our testicles at one point in life because of whatever
happened in our personal lives and our spiritual lives, you.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Know what I whatever.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
It is like like we've all been there, but we
all want to be twenty five year old and having
fun again, you know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
Playing basketball like I'm twenty five, but I don't feel
like I'm twenty five.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
It's already. Yeah, you want to almost thirty. You want
to know how old you are, dude, go play church ball.
Speaker 6 (10:32):
You wake up the next day and they're like, I
didn't know my back could feel like this.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Yeah, where's the IV Profrale.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
It's a price I'm willing to pay to teach the
young men a lesson. It's surprised that I will.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
All right, let's get into it, guys.
Speaker 4 (10:45):

news and notes coming out of Brigham and from the
U of A Wildcats that coming up here shortly, but

Speaker 1 (12:32):
The media earlier this week. I want to read between the.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
Lights here and the naty gritty and get to know
him and his squad a little bit better. This was
his opening statement and his call to action to the
fan base, the student body for creating a hostile environment,
but with respect for your opponent.
Speaker 8 (12:51):
And so as I you know, as I look forward
to this next coming week and us inviting our friends
down here from BYU, a top twenty five team. You know,
my challenge to our fan base and to everybody that
loves the University of Arizona is to show up. Let's
sell out Arizona Stadium. Let's make this thing the hostile
environment we know it can be and make it really
(13:12):
challenging for our opponents, you know, you know when they
get here.
Speaker 9 (13:16):
I think that's something.
Speaker 8 (13:17):
I know we experience every time we go on the
road in the Big twelve. We experienced it two weeks
ago at Iowa State.
Speaker 9 (13:24):
Sold out, rocking, loud, hard, hard.
Speaker 8 (13:28):
To deal with, and I think that's something that we
were absolutely capable of here and I think you know,
and also when we do that, you know, I would
also ask our fans, like, let's be respectful in this thing.
I think that's one of those things that we're better
than that. And let's be here and then let's let's
see a great game. Let's cheer on the Wildcats with
everything we got, Let's make it incredibly hard on BYU,
(13:49):
but let's be respectful in the process.
Speaker 9 (13:51):
So we're excited. We got a big week ahead of us,
A lot of work to do.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
All right, So that's just called action, you know, respectful
of the opponent. But we need a hostile environment down
there at in Tucson, at you of a your thoughts,
bread always bringing the hammer, Ronald the three man Weaver
on the opening statement.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
You know what I just remembered, there was a this.
Speaker 6 (14:18):
This should just go to show you how kind of
ridiculous it is, the whole leap the Mormons chance, the
fact that at one point in the Big Twelve conference,
if you did a certain hand gesture, you would get
a fifteen yard penalty. And everyone who's listening knows exactly
what I'm talking about. And I don't know if that
(14:39):
says more about BYU's antagonists or how soft the University
of Texas is. Maybe both, certainly the fact that Texans
fans were softer than Sharman, but the fact that, like we,
we are in a conference now that at one point,
if you did horns down, you got a fifteen yard penalty.
When Texas came to BYU for basketball, the chance the
(15:00):
fans in the rockhead shirts that said horns down and BYU. Again,
that's BYU, not the Big Twelve. But bou asked fans
to remove that, and so I do find it interesting.
I would love to know the true motivations from brett
or Mark, because we don't know why they or who
within the Big Twelve Athletic Department said hey, we're not
(15:24):
doing horns down.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
It's a penalty.
Speaker 6 (15:25):
I don't know if that was brett or Mark, and
I don't know if he did that because he wanted
to defend Texas or maybe because Texas was a big
part of their brand. And we also don't know, like
how into the fine against Colorado was the Big Twelve.
Did they do it because they felt like they had to,
did they do it because they truly wanted.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
To stand up for BYU.
Speaker 6 (15:48):
I just think that precedence and the fact that you've
set that now says, okay, well, if you're gonna do
something like this, you have to do a fine. I
don't know that you can give a penalty for something
that fans do, but I do think this is now
if anyone does it, you have to continue to keep
up this energy because you already set the precedent that
we were soft enough to find fans to give a
(16:11):
penalty for taunting for a hand signal. There's no way
you can allow something like this, but shout out to
Brent Brennan.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
I do think it helps that Colorado's head coach has.
Speaker 6 (16:23):
An incredible relationship with Kolonie Sataki and Brent Brennan has
an incredible relationship with Klonie Stacki, and I've always felt
like the best way that you can do missionary work,
the best way that you can represent the Church of
Jesus Christ a lot any saints is not by walking
up to all of your friends and asking them if
they'd like to read the book Borman and be baptized.
There's certain cases where that's okay, but to me, the
best way is you just be a good friend to everybody.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
And when people realize, oh.
Speaker 6 (16:47):
I'm hearing this stuff about members of the Church of
Jesus Christ the Latter Saints, But you know what, that's
weird because I have this really great friend named Kolonie Sataki,
and I don't really think that he deserves his faith
deserves to be treated that way. And that's why you're
seeing guys like Dion Sanders and Brent Brennan's stand up
is because Kilanie Stocky has done the incredible missionary work
of just being a great example and disciple of Jesus Christ.
(17:09):
And now you're seeing people want to stand up for Kilane,
and because they want to stand up for Kilane, they
want to stand up for the church as well.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Yeah, a lot of I would say Lavelle had that
same effect. He was great friends with many of the
high profile coaches in college football, Coach Bowden at the time,
Coach paternal and many of these coaches in college football
and the national media members too.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
They advocated for BYU.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
They advocated in that era for BYU, especially on the gridiron.
You know, I don't know if there was as much
you know, socio religious, you know, components to it at
that time, but there was definitely some controversy as well.
But they were advocates. And that's why Bay ultimately won
the national championship in my opinion eighty four because nobody
else deserved it. And furthermore, Boa was a favorite amongst
(17:55):
the media and also the coaching staffs for the most
part in college football.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
Ronald Well, I disagree everybody should be baptized.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I knew that.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
What I said, I knew you that would make you
guys laugh. I'm in a very good Movieitionaries come to
your house. No, but I'm I'm with Brett. I think
this is what I always say. You know, it's like
when you're having kids, Brett, you'll be a parent one day.
As we've had all record discussions. I'm not gonna feel
anything more than that. But you know, but like, I'm
(18:28):
not hinting anything. Brett just said.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Bretta said that you know he wants to be a dad.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
But when you say I'm not hinting anything, that makes
everyone think, Okay, what is he hinting.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
My wife's gonna call me.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
What did you say to Ronald? No, then you get
then you get to ask. No, ron you could just
say what you talk about. The point of what I'm
what I'm saying is that you know you you teach
your kids correct principles. And my mom said this. I
was like, how do you know that you'll be a
good parent? And she's like, when I see my grand kids,
(19:00):
Oh my god, it's a good point. I was like, oh,
so it's not me. She's like, no, I know how
you raise your kids. That's how I know if I
was a successful parent. Hopefully I'm here to be here
for that. I was like, oh, that's a good point.
I think it's the same thing with life. You will
know that you left the impact on someone. How other
people talk about you, like right, like you know Ben,
you know will go from this life so a lot.
(19:21):
How will those people talk about Ben when Ben's gone?
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Myself? Like, I think that's the impact.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
And I think you see that with Klinie when he's
not around, How do people talk about him? How do
people talk about Boa in a positive way? And I'll
say this and on this so he can keep going.
Don't want to go on the tangent. I'm long winded.
B Yu does it the best. I feel like in
their atmosphere they're not perfect, right, but President Reice goes
with the opposing you know, president president of the university.
They go pass on ice cream to you know, their visitors.
(19:48):
I think that's good right. The twelfth Man is a
factory sugar him up. That's what the ESPN does a
good job. Puts in a night game. They get so
delicious in their bellies. As Gmail has said, shout out
to the g Man. I hope you're safe on your
flight tomorrow morning. With everything going on, just want to
give you my prayers over the radio. No, Ben, I
think that's the way, Like bau fans like, hey, welcome
(20:10):
to Lavell. I'll buy you a Cougar tie. But I
hope you lose, right Like you have that right you have.
We've even had the pregame show of people who come
or this and that, well we hope you go home.
Would have lost, but thank you for coming. Like there's
a way to represent and you know, be competitive, but
not be competitive rude. You can be competitive, petty, but
still being nice.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
In my opinion, Let's get back to the sound. That
was Brent Brennan, uh the head coach of the U
of A Wildcats. When you coach with Kaleini Shatake coach
they're at Oregon State, what did he show you that
made you think he would be a head coach someday?
Speaker 8 (20:46):
We had a lot of fun together when we were
when we were coaching there, we lived in the same neighborhood,
our kids running around together in the neighborhood at all
hours of the day and night.
Speaker 9 (20:54):
It was it was really fun when we were together.
I always thought he had this incredible.
Speaker 8 (20:58):
Command with the team with that time, he was our
defensive coordinator.
Speaker 9 (21:03):
But he just had a great way about him.
Speaker 8 (21:05):
And he's uh, he has a great ability to be
honest with people but also be demanding and that showed
up in our time together.
Speaker 9 (21:13):
And you know, it's been fun for.
Speaker 8 (21:14):
Me because uh, just watching the success he's had and
continuing to you know, have our friendship, you know, over
the years we've also he's also been a guy that
we've talked about stuff that we were dealing with, you know,
within our program or within college football or whatever. You know,
He's just he's a really good football coach and and
even better human being.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Lego.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
That's Brent Brennan discussing his friend Kilanie. He's uh contemporary here.
He's partner in crime once upon a time on the
football field.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Uh and and so much love to coach Brennan.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
And I've heard Kilani utter the same similar words on
our airwaves about Coach Brennan. U. These are individuals that
love each other and they still but they still want to,
you know, get a dub on.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
The football fields. So don't get it twisted.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
Don't mistake you know that friendship behind this, you know,
for weakness. Don't be doing that, No, sir, No, No, happen.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
And kisses before the game.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
Yeah, it's yeah, yeah, yeah, don't start nothing, won't be nothing.
Brent Brandon, you know you're about to find out real
qu you know what I mean? Anyway, Uh So that
was that, Brenton Brandon, give us some love to Claude. Now,
what did you see from your team last week that
you need them to be prepared for versus b y U.
Speaker 8 (22:40):
I think Oklahoma States did a good job of loading
up the box, and obviously that's a that's something that
we're going to have to be ready for this weekend. Right,
we have a top ten our top eight defense in
the country coming in here.
Speaker 9 (22:52):
They're extremely well coached.
Speaker 8 (22:54):
They they have good players, they know their system, they
believe in it, and you know they they're multiple, They're
able to be multiple in it, but they but they
play incredibly physical football.
Speaker 9 (23:05):
So not something that we got to get ready for
this week.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
Do you think b Yu's gonna be stacking the box
well versus the U of A Wildcats?
Speaker 1 (23:14):
I asked you this as the clip was playing. Was
that a bad game plan by Oklahoma State?
Speaker 5 (23:18):
Not saying you know that BYU's defensive light years above
Oulklahoma State they're milestones.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Just kidding, wink wink.
Speaker 5 (23:25):
But was that a bad game plan by them, because
I think if BYU stacked the box there did be
dbs can play one on one. I trust Evan Johnson.
I trust Jonathan Cabee. You know he's coming back from injury,
says he probably assuming he's playing. I trust the Aaron Alexander.
I trust Tommy Prices, I trust follow taosat Twala. I
trust Isaiah Glasker. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. But if
they did which I don't think they'll do that the
(23:47):
whole game, I believe they can compete and do that.
They have takeaways, they're right around you said this yesterday,
seven interceptions, which is where they were last season. So
I think they'll show different looks. I don't think they
will the whole time. But I think it's a smart
move by b AU two. You know, do that and
get pressure. I don't think Oklahoma State I think that
was a bad game plan. Maybe I'm wrong in that.
Here's what's interesting.
Speaker 6 (24:07):
If you go through the PFF no Nofafida.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Noah Fafida is one of the best quarterbacks in the country.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
But what's interesting is they have the one hundredth graded
receiving group in the country, meaning Noah Fafieda basically has
to make laser throws for these guys to get open
because they can't. They're also really bad against man coverage,
per D and I didn't know that either. So Maxhadwick
(24:37):
actually was saying that this Arizona team is really gonna
struggle to create separation with BYU, and that if that
is the case, then it makes sense why Oklahoma State's
game plan would have been, Actually, we're gonna stack the
box because we believe you're not good enough man coverage
one on one to get open, and we don't want
to leave the run to be vulnerable. So so putting
(25:01):
two and two together, it kind of does make sense
when you look at it from a PFF perspective, and
just what Oklahoma State tried last week.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
I'll say this much bois defense, and Kate Pop mentioned it.
We do run a nice balance between zone and man.
We have been running maybe more man man free. Whenever
you're running man free, you can bring your man blitches.
But I think more often than not, what we've done
is we've converted over that man free so that single
high safety look into a Cover three look and we'll
(25:32):
bring zone pressures off of that, so we'll bring five
man pressures and that's what we did last year versus
no Fafita. We would show him kind of a balanced
look of that and it's one of the reasons why,
like we had success because he didn't know if if
it was zone or man unless you're running a lot
of motions pre snap, which last year I don't think
(25:52):
you have a did a whole lot like where you'll
see a lot of NFL quarterbacks that are their pre
snap reading and they're early in there, maybe snap count
and they're like, I want to see if they're in man,
and they'll take the slot receiving just motion them across
the tackle boxer towards the tackle box and then they'll
show him back out just to see if that slot
corner is running with them across the tackle box to
(26:15):
declare if it's man or not. And that's one thing
if I'm new U of A and I'm trying to
figure out and Noah is trying to figure out what's
going on, like that has to be employed.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Now I'm giving him ideas, but like.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
That's one of the things that Noah struggled with last
year because he got hit a lot. He's extending plays
and he didn't realize pre snap whether it was man
or it was zone, and that's why he was vacillating.
That's why he was extending. That's why he hung on
to the ball maybe a little bit too long. And
so you hope that happens again this year this week
down in Tucson. Now, let's get back to the sound
(26:49):
with the Brent Brennant head coach you with a wildcatch
brought to you by Complete Circuit Electricomplete Circuit Electric Utah
dot Com. What do you know about Bo's true freshman
quarterback Bear Bachmeier.
Speaker 8 (27:00):
I think it's really you know, we've known this kid
for a while. We watched him, you know, playing in
high school, and he's obviously a dual threat guy and
a real dual threat guy. I think he's their second
leading rusher on their team, or the second highest carries anyway,
and he's really effective throwing the ball too. So I
think that's one of those deals where when you have
a young player and you can get him comfortable and
(27:21):
get him into flow like they have and then also
play good defense behind it, it gives him a chance
to play with real confidence, and he's doing that right now.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
Bear Bachmeyer bear up versus that bear down defense. How
do you think bear Bachmeyer will fare against this defense?
Is he going to be more impactful through the air
or more impactful on the ground.
Speaker 6 (27:41):
This week, I thought it was interesting that Brent Brennan
said that they've known this kid for a while, which
is not a complete shock because of his recruiting prowess,
but that's also the first time we've heard a coach
say that about him.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
I'd be curious to know how many of the other.
Speaker 6 (27:59):
Coaches of schools that BYU will play the rest of
the season actively scouted bear Bachmeyer to the point where
Brent Brandan's like, oh, no, we know who this kid is.
I think he'll be great, especially if it rains, because
I love BYU's run game. What they're obviously we know,
like LJ. Martin, Dog stud incredible. We keep here and
(28:22):
everybody say by stock On Preston Rex because he's going
to be really good. But whatever they do with the motions,
with the jet touch pass, any of that stuff, you
can just fake it to whoever and then give it
to bear Bachmeyer right off.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Of it. So I think Bear could have a day
just rushing the football.
Speaker 6 (28:41):
I don't if the weather is as weird as we
think it's going to be, I don't see Bear throwing
for a ton of yards. And part of that, I
think is because a Rod wants to establish the identity
of we run the football when we want to. You
don't get to dictate to us what we're going to do.
If we want to run the football, we will. And
that kind of mentality makes me think Bear could have
(29:04):
a pretty big day on the ground tomorrow, just to drop.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
It again.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
When it rains it poors. I look, I'm kind of
praying for rain. I'll be honest. I'm like the Saints
of Old I.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
Wanted to rain too. I'm actually like that.
Speaker 5 (29:21):
I'm not saying that because I'll be in the press box,
but I say that more of I just want to
see it be ugly for Arizona, And I mean, I
want to go again.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Can I be honest with you?
Speaker 5 (29:29):
And we obviously you know there might be some leanency
more towards you, But how how much would that say
if Arizona if it rained decently and they were able
to throw the football about like massive hands. I wrapped
him up and big t I'm like, oh goodness, and
he's like Brettsie like maybe a little short, and I'm like,
oh boy, like hands size is ridiculous, like broken, really
(29:51):
rip the football. But I bring that up, Ben, that
would be impressive if he was able to you know,
throw in the rain and they were actually can I
bring it up? Is you want a good football game,
you want conditions sometime to be you want to go
through adversity. You want to see player succeeds. So if
he was able to do that, I think that would
say a lot about him. Also, the reason why I
wanted to rain is I want to see this ground game.
I want to see them wear down Arizona and trenches.
(30:12):
Like when if we had a game for the BAU
offensive line where they've been, you know, penalty free all
the way and they've just dominated their opposition. You're waiting
for that, and I mean dominated like they kicked their
you know what. We haven't seen that game yet, you know,
and where they've dominated and I want to see that
type of game. So if the weather had to play
a factor, I'm waiting for the game where BAU goes
(30:32):
three hundred on the ground because I think they have
the ability to do.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
Whether that's Bear LJ.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Preston, you want to get Cody involved, whoever it is,
I want to see Bay you get close to three
hundred yards on the ground. So if the weather needed
to cause that, I'm ok about it because I believe
that's the way you beat Arizona is you run the
ball down their throats. You do the Oklahoma State ten
plays of running in the second half and you don't stop.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
And he said, we're gonna wear you down. We're the
big boys, and that's gonna be a long day.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
Last thing from Brent Brennan, head coach. You have a wildcatch.
We saw you encouraging one of your players after a
big mistake on Saturday. Is that a big piece of
your coaching philosophy?
Speaker 9 (31:09):
I think so. You know, I think.
Speaker 8 (31:12):
Every player is different, and you coach them all differently.
You know, you treat them all fairly, but you coach
them all differently, and and so you know, some players
respond to you know, different kind of stimulus, right, But
I think at the end of the day, everyone likes
to be.
Speaker 9 (31:31):
Encouraged, nobody likes to get beaten.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
To the ground.
Speaker 8 (31:34):
Right, if you make a mistake, do we have a
better chance to respond from that mistake if me, as
the head coach, is you know, all over your case
and make you feel bad about the mistake you already made, right,
or is it better for me to take the approach
of like, no, we're putting you back out there because
we believe in you, because we do. Otherwise we wouldn't
put you back out there. So go make the playsure.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
Capable of making powerful.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
I think, yeah, that's that is powerful. You know, you
treat them all fairly, you coach them all differently, and
and uh, you know, depending on the personality, depending on
how they react, you want to get the most out
of them. And it's a it's a teacher Uh, it's
a teacher approach too. You know, every one of us
has our favorite teachers from elementary school, absolutely, middle school,
(32:19):
high school, and and many sometimes you were able to
interact with them because of common themes or common passions
or whatever. But the best teachers know who you are
and how to maximize and extract your potential. And so
that's why Brent's a good coach, and that's why they're
for and one right now by the way they're form
one right now.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
He's a better man too, I think because of it
as well, Like I can I be honest. I mean
I've said if I was that good to play, I'd
play for Kalina, But I also play for Brennan. I
mean I see what people want to play for him
in that regard. Like Ben, I told you multiple times,
I came for military parents. If you're starting in my face,
you know, and I won't say the off days and
things when I've had to get better at the job,
starting this has probably pushed me. I think a little
(32:58):
bit more because that's how it was worse, because that
like lights a fire, you know, right like I'm coach Chelling,
but I know other people that it takes maybe the
arm around, you know, walking down the sidelight, like remember
the Jeff Grimes, Zach Wilson, Hey, you know talking the players,
they're celebrating all the front and he's right there with
Zach talking about like so casual and I thought that
was so crazy, but no, that's what Zach needed in
that moment. Some guys, you can walk up to me,
(33:19):
slap my helmet, and that's gonna get me, you know.
In the right direction. But I think that's what makes
it coach so powerful. Like the Jeff Grinds, like the
berber and as kalani as, you know how to tailor
that to each individual needs, just like when you serve
a mission, tailor to the needs.
Speaker 4 (33:32):

to barrel at Royal Army Brand dot Com. My question
of today is going to revolve around the basketball team. Actually,
what did we learn about this Boa basketball team last night.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
At Marriott Madness. You guys were in attendance.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
It was a spectacle to be had really enjoyed watching
this BAU basketball team. It's it's the most talented team
that BAU basketball has ever put on the hardwood.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
Know if hands or butts about it period.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
Boa Men's basketball previou the twenty twenty five twenty twenty
six season with their annual Blue and White scrimmage Thursday
night at the Marriage Center. This is what Kevin Young
had to say in the post game, just seeing all
the students flooding the Marriage Center was cool. Second year
coach A Kevin Young stated it got us excited for
the basketball season. Obviously there's a lot of excitement around
BA athletics in general, so we're glad that everyone could
(36:44):
see some of our guys tonight. Richie Saunders led all
scores in the twenty minute contest as the senior finished
with fifteen points, going a perfect six for six from.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
The free throw line.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
True freshman Alexi Coastin was also in double figures with
twelve points, going two to five from three point range.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
In his first game at the Marriage Center.
Speaker 4 (37:03):
Aj De Bonsa filled the statue with nine points, five
assists and a steal and so really.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
Really fun to just watch everybody.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
I was impressed by commit Kadema Boop and I can't
wait to see what he can do. I know Canwar
Davis Junior has been hyped in the offseason. He is
a defensive stopper and also shout out to the Ido
transfer Tyler Morass some ballers on the squad. I love
seeing the length of Xavier Staton as well, the true
freshman Rim runner.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
He's gonna be nice for the Kougs.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
A different type of player that BYU has rarely had.
So guys, give me your thoughts on what you saw,
what you liked, and if there's any concerns right now
heading into the college basketball season, maybe injury concerns. As
some guys, some of the guardline was left out or
rather was held out of this game.
Speaker 6 (37:50):
Watching Styton and Cable battle yesterday was a lot of
fun because they're both bigs, but very different bigs. Obviously,
we know Keva is more of like the Dwight Howard
send that thing into the sky like a tennis ball,
just bouncy volleyball player, and then Stayton is a little
bit lengthier mobile in a different way. It was a
(38:12):
lot of fun to watch them go back and forth.
I was thinking video last night, and I have one
where Keba gets up there, Davian Stayton gets up there
and just pins the ball against the backboard, and then
a couple plays later, give me it. Keba goes and
puts a floater and you see Styton go up and
he just gets just underneath of it and Keba drops
it in.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
My biggest takeaway last night was.
Speaker 6 (38:35):
The things I felt like b why you needed but
didn't have last season.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
Were twofold.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
Number one, you needed to be able to run people
off the three point line, and we watched Alabama absolutely
expose that weakness.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
To no end.
Speaker 6 (38:51):
The other thing that they needed but got away without having,
is having true lengthy. Keba and Fush were in credible
last year, and none of what I'm about to say
takes anything from takes anything away from anything they did
last year because despite not being seven foot is like
you couldn't tell because nobody got into paint on either
(39:13):
of those guys. But you now have an Xavion Staton
and a kadem Of Boop who if you do get
into a situation like there was a kid from Oklahoma
State a couple of years ago who was big, long
and could get inside, or like that kid at Arizona,
a couple of guys they faced in the tournament, who
are that big and who are that long?
Speaker 1 (39:32):
The kid at Alabama, those guys who can give you problems.
Speaker 6 (39:34):
You now have a Kadeemon Boop who's basically just like
a bigger unit version of Keba because he's six' nine
and still has all the way all the. Muscle there's
so much to be excited about The boa basketball Team
we know they can. Score we know everybody can. Shoot
we know that the ball, distribution everybody was getting it
out and nobody was. Hogging but also when it was
(39:57):
time to go one on, One ritchie AND aj had their.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
Moment Cannard davis was.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
Awesome this team absolutely went to the store and picked
up everything they needed to make an incredible meal out
of this.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
Season, YEAH i think the biggest thing for me he
talked about running off a three point.
Speaker 1 (40:12):
Line let's it, Go, dell let's dive.
Speaker 5 (40:13):
Deeper there's none against those guards that played last year
and that have been here or that we're, here.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
Right they're.
Speaker 5 (40:18):
Phenomenal they all know HOW i feel about. Them the
great players love them. Death i've sent my. Hate it's
been a privilege to covery in your time if you
decided to go elsewhere and if you. Graduated but they
did not have the skill set of the ability to
guard from the three point line to three point, line
or the perimeter from the three point line inside the
basket and not. Foul that's a problem they didn't have.
(40:40):
That i'm Watching canard AND i thought, THIS i thought
this has been last. Year who was going to be
the top three guys Where richie didn't have to really
get in foul troub him away And trey emerged Later
canard AND aj the combo defense is going to be a,
Problem Like canar's gonna take care of guy Like canard's
trying to lock up each and get mad in a. Scrimmage,
RIGHT i having to go against. Him we'll play the
(41:01):
sound on the second. Hour what's it like to go
against a guy like? That teasing a little, bit But,
MOO i know you used to say, foods but not
gonna say. Move yes because It's knar Mood davis shout
out the. Move But moo AND aj will be a.
Problem they're gonna take the two best. Players i'm convinced of,
it especially After Kevin young SAYING i want agent to
make the right read and play. Defense that tells me
(41:22):
those two guys are gonna be. Tasked So richie's gonna
have the third best. GUY i think it's gonna be
declared of. Now and that's just me reading between last
BUT i think that off of WHAT i, saw and
that Because canard takes pride in, defense he really, does
and you didn't have a guy like that can take
your best play out of the game until what emerges
that And trade died. Too but now you have the
number one high school recruit that can take a guy
(41:43):
out the. Game you Have moo who can take a
guy out the, game and then you Have. Richie just
for kicks and. Giggles you can add A Dominique diamonde
when you want. To Maybe kadem could come in the.
Mix he raised his hand last, night according To Kevin.
Young SO i think that's the biggest thing because if
you want to let's, go let's give actual. Data what
Did houston have last year that y you did not
guys that can do.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
That Emmanuel sharp could shoot the.
Speaker 5 (42:03):
Lights at the, ball but he can also had a
ton of, length but they have now they have a
ton of, length ton of.
Speaker 1 (42:08):
Girth you, know you have both of those, alive like
but you, know lots of.
Speaker 5 (42:11):
Girth but LIKE i think it's it's important to know
Ben Emanuel sharp was six foot, four, right could shoot
the lights out and he call locked you, up B
yu and The House canard who can shoot and klock you,
like they have the team to Match.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
Houston they have the team this year to Beat.
Speaker 5 (42:27):
Houston those other teams are competitive they came close the last,
years but it wasn't the athleticism to be able to
do Like tuggler long six. Eleven you Got xavier On.
Staaten NOW i love what they. Have tugler has a
little bit. More uh as they say he's a problem.
Beefy he's, Beefy, yeah a little.
Speaker 4 (42:42):
Strong but you, know are we considered at all About
stateton's physicality or you, KNOW i MEAN i thought.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
He showcased pretty.
Speaker 4 (42:50):
Well you mentioned what you liked about it that that
Matchup brad was a.
Speaker 1 (42:55):
Big strong. Team he was a bullying you, Know. JOE
i was.
Speaker 4 (42:59):
Actually in press that he was able to absorb some
of that energy that that cable was putting, out BECAUSE
i mean that he's a he's a strong, dude like,
uh you, KNOW i compared him to kind of like
it's OUR byu version of Like Blake. Griffin that's kind
of HOW i probably he's like kind of his, build
you like those, delts, robust you know WHAT i, Mean
he's a big dude and and and he can he
(43:21):
can get after it in the low.
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Block SO i was actually impressed with his.
Speaker 4 (43:24):
Physicality do you think he can withstand some of the
physical nature of the big twelve Big.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
Yeah one hundred.
Speaker 6 (43:29):
Percent AND i think the maybe the part of the
reason That xavion And i'm putting this in their quotes
maybe looks small is because look who's down there in
the front court with, Him, Keeba, Keta Kadema bu guys
who are absolute, units bigger than your average. Big but
we'll say, This we sat down there on that end
of the court and we watched these guys go to
(43:50):
battle With. Xavion anybody get any easy buckets On, Xavion,
NO i don't, think so there was no easy. Shots
Dominic diamande tried to get in, there and, look he's
a big physical, freak he's an. Athlete there were no
easy buckets On Exavon satan all night. Long SO i
don't think he's gonna have any problem dealing with any
of the, physicality especially because he's so. Long so even
(44:12):
if you even if you can get inside on, him
he still makes you pay because his length makes up for.
It any concerns regarding injuries right now on the guard,
Line Dawson, Baker Rob, Wright Nate, pickens you know some
of these guys that were held, Out.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
Yeah your guards can't be injured if you want to
compete for a final four. Birth it's just.
Speaker 5 (44:32):
Simple you can deal with big you can deal with
big man depth hurt a wing, player but guard play
it is. Pivotal it is the most important position been
to win a national. Championship look What walts And Clayton.
Jr did last. YEAR i elevated. Stock i'm just, saying
look at, like you have to shout out to the
connections you have. There you have to be able to
(44:52):
have your guards healthy now right, now it's to begin the,
season so it's not too big of a. Deal Remember
yegor went out for a little, bit wasn't that big
of a. Deal SO i think even If rob isn't
able to go to start the season or something happens
and you're, okay.
Speaker 1 (45:02):
You still have enough death.
Speaker 5 (45:04):
Depth excuse, me but, yeah it does become a, concern
and not Necessarily. Rob, right we know he had the,
surgery maybe got deemed up in. Practice i'm start to
get a little concerned about the bucket GETTER. dB he's
Been he's been nicked up a, lot, right AND i
know he's had his unfair share ports the same With broad.
Him i'm gonna come start to get, concerned you know
what he was And nate like Because nate was had
(45:26):
injuries when he was at you, KNOW Uc. RIVERS i
don't mind. It those nagging ones always say, this and
G man will back me. Up and is when you
get hurt once in the same and in a, place
you're probing to get hurt. Again and you're starting to
see that and that scares. Me for if you're not
healthy when it matters, most he wouldn't be playing a
basket basketball When march then they were last. Year but
you need, continuity you need to have. Reps SO i
(45:49):
am a little bit, concerned but it's at the, bottom
is not at the. Top BUT i do have my
eye on.
Speaker 4 (45:53):
That, Yeah like LOOK I I i never like to
have injuries to start the, season but you, know we
gotta be. Healthy as we saw last. Year it's gotta
be healthy In. February that's when they gotta be peaking In. February, Peaking,
yeah peaking in That that to me was most. Pressed
we rarely have ever had the peaking In february rhetoric
(46:16):
coming out of provo like and and it was awesome
to watch like nine because like we were in the
middle of the, Season we're, like, man you, know, like
are we.
Speaker 1 (46:25):
A tournament? Team are We round of thirty? Two are
we A sweet sixteen?
Speaker 4 (46:29):
Team there's a lot of question, marks and then you
get into Late february, like, yeah, no we got.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
This they did. This we got. This they shold the
soul from K.
Speaker 6 (46:38):
States remember how The state came in and they'd won
like what like eight or nine in a row at that, Yea,
yeah they had the longest winning STREAK i think of
any team in power for at that point in the.
Speaker 1 (46:47):
Season and B yu did The space Jam.
Speaker 6 (46:49):
Monstars they took K state's, game they took their, soul.
Speaker 5 (46:54):
And then they went on and did that run on their.
Own can we say this and it goes and we'll
talk to J t about. THIS i want to echo
your point BECAUSE i think you're. Right The big twelve
is doing us at. Disservice they won't let us see
A j And dare And peterson twice after That kansas
game they ran. AMOK i don't think people understand what
they did To bill's, self that that's in bar that
(47:15):
doesn't happen To. Kansas Like Hunter dickerson wanted to say,
it but he wanted to say we got our donkeys.
Speaker 1 (47:20):
Kicked he wanted to say. That in the post game he,
says no one's gonna.
Speaker 5 (47:23):
Care we're getting paid in ail like they were straight,
up they were shot like B yu imposed their will
and after that that type of win bind gives you
confidence for a double overtime win In Iowa state in A,
hilton which not a lot of teams. Do they did
that after losing a year before and blowing off first that. Lead,
Right remember they were up eleven With Mark pope and
they blew. It so it's different this year in that.
(47:44):
Regard but, yes to your, point they, played we were
we had QUESTIONS i did and then what?
Speaker 1 (47:48):
Happened they put that notion into bed real? Quick you
know what time it, is don't?
Speaker 9 (47:52):
You you know what?
Speaker 1 (47:54):
Time just check your? Phone oh check your? Phone you
say the? Name you say said ill? Self OH i got,
it let me get let me get. It calt? It
who called? It who called? It he who called?
Speaker 4 (48:08):
It that B yu would be the sleeping giant of
The Big twelve out of the new. Members this is
what he said on b A u T v At
Big Twelve Media. DAYS i think year one before by
you even got into the thick of it in.
Speaker 10 (48:24):
Competition but the sleeping the Sleeping john IS b what
you let's just call it like it. Is but the
sleeping the Sleeping giant IS b what you let's just
call it like it. Is, no, no, no, no keep it,
going keep me. Going, okay let's just call it like it.
IS i, mean but the sleeping the Sleeping john IS
b what you let's just call it like it.
Speaker 1 (48:45):
IS i, mean but the oh.
Speaker 4 (48:47):
Is that that's the only. One, OKAY i thought YOU
i thought.
Speaker 1 (48:50):
THAT'S i was. Repeating, yeah, okay.
Speaker 4 (48:53):
Okay so he goes on to say it's because they
have like strollers in their cars and like so like
it's a little. Office but so it was fifty fifty
percent wrong and maybe the justification for WHY b what
you'd be a sleeping. Giant now our team is VERY
i mean it's, old but it's. Young it's big. Giants,
yeah you know it's.
Speaker 5 (49:10):
Young Aj Xavion, alexi like they got young. Dudes just
not there's no more like when you look at the
Roster dominique Nineteen, no, no like it's. IS i think
it might be less return missionary, actually and more young.
Guys like it's a good balance of vets and young.
Guys so that notion of. Longers but last year it
definitely was how many return missionaries are on the roster right?
Now Richie, DAWSON i don't, Think brody Went, man that's
(49:36):
a good. Question i'm Gonna i'm gonna have to go
look at the roster myself to look right.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
Now fun stat of the, Day, BROUGH.
Speaker 5 (49:44):
I can tell you, too, oh j mc, Okay so,
yeah the roster as A jereed, McGregor jerem, McGregor Richie, Saunders,
Dawson baker is a return missionary and looking at, it
that three, yeah just three, wow, yep, YEP i like.
Speaker 1 (50:00):
IT i like.
Speaker 4 (50:01):
It let's go to. Break we'll talk stats on the flip.

Pooka.
Speaker 4 (51:50):
Nakua through five games Has a crewed has tallied five
hundred and eighty eight receiving, yards fifty two, receptions eleven
point three yards per, catch and three. Touchdowns poka will
be FACING i believe one of the worst pass defenses
in THE.
Speaker 1 (52:09):
Nfl this WEEK uh.
Speaker 4 (52:11):
Thirty, FIRST i think in THE nfl and uh they
give up a lot of touchdowns and.
Speaker 1 (52:16):
Yards by the way they.
Speaker 4 (52:18):
Do who kinakup is on pace for a magical, year
LIKE i. Think the most receiving yards IN nfl in
a single SEASON nfl History Calvin johnson in twenty twelve
one nine under sixty Four Cooper cup with the same,
organization by the, way The rams in twenty twenty, one same.
Speaker 5 (52:41):
Quarterback also quarterback and that was the year he won
a triple co same hed coach too has Got.
Speaker 1 (52:47):
Sean McVay one thousand nine out of forty seven.
Speaker 4 (52:49):
Yards phokanakua is on pace for almost two thousand yards right.
Now crazy on a. Season, now it is hard to
keep that. Pace it is a score, chain record setting.
Pace you gotta stay, healthy you gotta stay.
Speaker 1 (53:04):
Strong but he continues to break.
Speaker 4 (53:07):
Records first player with fifty catches through first five games
of the.
Speaker 1 (53:11):
Season that's AN nfl. Record he did it his rookie.
Speaker 4 (53:14):
Year he's continuing continually setting records in THE.
Speaker 1 (53:19):
Nfl and, uh you.
Speaker 4 (53:20):
Know if he reaches this this height by the end
of the, year he continues on, this, uh this this scorching,
pace man B yu will have the best, punter the best,
linebacker and the best wide receiver in THE nfl by
the end of. Season because it looks like it looks
Like fred will be on pace as he always, is you.
(53:42):
Know And, ryan he's on pace right. Now, yeah you're all,
right stuff. Man so those are. Three those are your
Three Cougar Pro. Bowlers Ryan, Rico Fred Warnam.
Speaker 1 (53:54):
Yea And Andy.
Speaker 4 (53:55):
Reid, well, LOOK i LOVE i love my BRIG i
love My brigham Mites, uh the Former Byu cougar's balling
out in THE.
Speaker 1 (54:04):
Nfl your thoughts are, reactions.
Speaker 5 (54:06):
Gentlemen, YEAH i think this is gonna be the first
Year Poka nakua is An All. Pro, LIKE i think
we can we can maybe start to have a discussion
if he keeps this.
Speaker 1 (54:13):
Up, LIKE i don't think that's, hyperbole.
Speaker 5 (54:15):
RIGHT i know that SOME nfl teams have maybe traded
for a quarterback because they feel like they're not getting
a lot. Out BUT i Mean puka's starting to be
in the conversation being of The Jamar chase And Justin.
Jefferson And i'm really gonna compare him To Justin jefferson.
More it doesn't matter Who Justin jefferson has had as his.
Quarterback he goes and gets the, football kind of Like
Mike evans eleven consecutive thousand yard season has a chance
to Break Jerry rice's.
Speaker 1 (54:35):
Record he tied it last.
Speaker 5 (54:36):
Year But puka's starting to be in that conversation off
a top three wide.
Speaker 6 (54:39):
RECEIVER I i don't want to this credit. You he
actually has been An All pro before his second team
Out pro twenty twenty, three which the first Team All
PRO i didn't even. Know, YEAH i mean, this he'll
definitely be if he continues at this space as a.
Speaker 1 (54:55):
Pro BUT i do like the big difference between first
and the.
Speaker 6 (54:56):
Season it's, true but twenty twenty, three he'd been in
the league for one, YEAR i think rookie year he
was second Team All. Pro so, YEAH i, mean Like pooka's.
Crazy he's already, Been he's been to The Pro bowl.
Speaker 1 (55:07):
Already if he were to go for two thousand, yards
it'd be.
Speaker 5 (55:11):
Unreal SO i have a, question AND i don't know
trying to be you, know, again not trying to have,
hyperbole but if he exceeds two thousand, yards he gets
first Team All, pro they go to The Super bowl
and they were to. Win is that enough to be
going to go into The hall of? Him not first
team by The? Black is that would that be?
Speaker 6 (55:29):
ENOUGH i, mean you got to play a lot more,
seasons like you you because you couldn't end his career
at the end of the season and be, like, oh
he's all that's.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
True you got to play like another five ish.
Speaker 6 (55:38):
Years even THOUGH i know he said famously on The
Julian Edelman show that he wants to retire and go
play professional basketball IN euroflc.
Speaker 1 (55:45):
If that ends up, Happening BUT.
Speaker 6 (55:48):
I think if he continues to this, SPACE i think
he'll Be hall Of. Famer the QUESTION i thought you
were going to pose was if he were to do all,
that would it Top Cooper cups single?
Speaker 5 (55:58):
Season just did he'd have to? Win THAT'S i THINK
i can't say, That but could you?
Speaker 6 (56:05):
Argue and maybe your argument to push back Against Cooper
cup in The Triple crown is maybe you, Say, okay, well,
Yes Cooper cup had The Triple, crown But pooka had more.
Yards so do you like give and take a little
bit of the fact, That, okay he didn't have as many,
catches but he did have a lot more. Yards AND
i DON'T i, mean who's to say he couldn't win
(56:27):
The Triple. CROWN i don't know where he's at right,
now BUT i know He's he's near the top of
the league in every single one of those, categories so
he could have. Another it's. Possible it's really difficult to
do a triple. Crown it almost never. Happens and been
a turning back over to. You but REMEMBER i Asked
brady last year, offseason.
Speaker 5 (56:46):
Could Would pookin cool win The Triple Crown award On
sean mcvanny, says there's, yes there's a very high likelihood he.
Speaker 1 (56:51):
Could if he were to do that a year.
Speaker 5 (56:54):
After, wow been like he's gonna be up there with
The Tyreek, keels with The Mike Evans like he's gonna
he's gonna Be he's gonna finish up. THERE i think
if you were to play long enough With way's catching
the ball And stan healthy as a maybe a top
ten receiver all the, time people gonna Say rod on your,
trip and, No i'm.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
NOT i think at this pace he's on. Point he
can he can get to that point of the games
ALL byu.
Speaker 4 (57:14):
Fans they've been jaded over the years because they PICKED
byu players and THE bau player never pans. Out On fantasy,
Football pooka is currently like the best receiver also IN ppr.
LEAGUES i, think, uh He's he's got the second most
IN nfl history by a wide receiver through like five.
Speaker 1 (57:36):
Games, uh and that's.
Speaker 4 (57:38):
Impressive Odell Beckham junior's two thousand and fourteen, Season oh,
yeah was. Ridiculous Randy moss before him in nineteen ninety.
Eight jamar Te chase had a remarkable season in in
uh year and that was twenty twenty, one Justin, jefferson
twenty twenty, anyway so a lot of points being. Scored
if you picked Up pooka in ppo our, LEAGUES i
(58:01):
WISH i would. HAVE i Picked Jamar chase And jamar do.
That it's been a little bit up and down for.
Speaker 1 (58:06):
Me CAN i give you some? Numbers? Okay because because
BIG i also sent you a sound by you know
we are going to play. That it's a it's a
it's a little it's a former tight. End that's a you,
know a.
Speaker 5 (58:15):
Goat BUT i Picked pooka BECAUSE i knew twenty four point,
Five that's what he gave me in week, five in
week four.
Speaker 1 (58:21):
Thirty, six.
Speaker 5 (58:24):
The week before, that twenty two point, eight the week before,
that twenty seven point, six.
Speaker 1 (58:28):
The week before, that twenty three point. One so Pick, Pooka,
yeah Pick. Pooka all.
Speaker 6 (58:33):
Right lead the league right now in catches and. Yards
he's not competing really for. Touchdowns he only has two
on the. Season i'm in, RAE i think leads the
season with. Six he has he has three total but
one of those is, rushing so it wouldn't count towards
his staff or get him the ball in the red.
Speaker 1 (58:49):
Zone come, on but he's.
Speaker 5 (58:51):
More than amara just a, Catcher, pooka you gotta to
count for him doing everything.
Speaker 9 (58:56):
Well.
Speaker 4 (58:56):
Uh gronk And Julian edelman commented on The Dudes dudes
On dudes podcasts. Recently gron Thinks pookakua may be the
best wide receiver in THE nfl.
Speaker 11 (59:09):
Because the best wide receiver in THE nfl right. Now
and it's not because he's the fastest or quickest or most.
Athletic it's just because he is all full ball player.
Speaker 2 (59:18):
Joint he's like.
Speaker 9 (59:19):
You he reminds me of.
Speaker 11 (59:20):
You you guys were just football players and get it
done whenever your number is.
Speaker 1 (59:24):
Called big. Too and he's physical and he catches the
ball through.
Speaker 4 (59:27):
TRAFFIC i just hope he stays healthy because he's touching
the ball lot and he's a physical player because he's
a big, dude you know WHAT i.
Speaker 1 (59:33):
Mean he's bigger than what you. Think he's fearless up the.
Middle there you.
Speaker 4 (59:36):
Go That's gronk And Julian daman pontificating On pooka thoughts Commentary.
Speaker 6 (59:41):
Chance my dad used to always say this About Jerry.
Rice Jerry rice was never the, Biggest he was never the,
fastest he was never the. Strongest Jerry rice in the
Underwear olympics at THE nfl combined never would have blown anyone.
Away you don't have to Have Tyreek hill, numbers you
don't have to be the size Of Alvin. Johnson To gronk's,
(01:00:02):
point you just got to be a football, player. Man
And kalani alluded to this a little. BIT i think
it was in his media availability this week where he
said one of the great things About Whoka. Nakula we
know how good a receiver he, is but one of
the things that he does better than anybody else is
he actually. Blocks and you see a lot of receivers
who are at the top of their game where they're, like,
(01:00:22):
well you know, What i'm the best guy on the,
team SO i can take this.
Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
Playoff other guys can. Block that's not my.
Speaker 6 (01:00:28):
Job Whoka nakua has every right in the, world every
right in THE nfl to, say, HEY i got to
take a couple of plays off Because i'm touching the.
Ball so, Hey, DeVante why don't you go pick up
a block for. Me he never uses that as an.
Excuse this is a guy who loves. Contact he loves to.
Block this is As gronk would, say a football.
Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
Player football, player football.
Speaker 5 (01:00:52):
PLAYER i will say, this so these are the people
that have won, it Jamar ches last, Year Cooper, Cup
Steve Smith, Senior Ster, Trip Triple. Crown, sorry apolog just
thank you for the. Context And Jerry rice and so
FAR i typed in the. Wrong Steve, smith excuse. Me
Steven senior is not. Yet he was a, finalist SO
i believe he'll get his. Point but it looks like
(01:01:12):
when it's all said and, done when you get to that,
point this poogy keeps. Playing Steve smith's senior will get there.
Eventually styling Sharpersary hall Of, famer And Jerry rice is.
Too so it seems like if you win that award
and only those five guys have done it being very,
rare Then hookah's in that same. Category so he's on
the right. Track and to be in company with those
receivers been those guys are second to. None you can
(01:01:33):
argue all of those guys are gonna have good careers
by the time it's.
