college football segment. Want to get into some news coming
out of Arizona State that bodes well for the University

(00:36):
of Utah in my opinion, it's regarding Sam Levitt. Stay tuned.
We're going to get into this an injury report. It's
going to be brought to you by RGS six Steers,
Rgsixteers Utah dot com. You're exterior home remodeling company that's
always obsessed with quality resort results, serving Utah for five

They are the exterior experts in the state of Utah
and they prove it decade after decade. Eight o one
nine ninety seven sixty six one six. It's eight to one,
nine ninety seven sixty six one six.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Let's welcome into the show representing RGS six series. We
got Talmach Brown on the line to talk a little
bit about some of the deals in some college football
topics as well. Talmich, how are.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
You good, doing great?

Speaker 2 (01:29):
How are you doing I'm doing awesome. I'm doing awesome.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Let's talk about this college football news coming out of
Arizona State. Arizona State quarterback Sam Levitt doubtful versus Utah
on Saturday. A little bit of a surprise update on
Thursday night on the Big Twelves availability the injury report,
Levitt was listed as probable on Wednesday, now doubtful for
an ESPN source. Backup Jeff Simms is in line to

(01:56):
start for Ahu if Levitt can't play in Salt Lake City.
Sims has started twenty six games over his career, including
one at a Issue two at Nebraska and twenty three
at Georgia Tech. Sims started one game last of Free Issue.
It was a twenty four to fourteen ASU loss at Cincinnati.
He started college football in twenty twenty, playing for Georgia

(02:18):
Tech in that COVID nineteen season. If I mean this
then highly favors the Huts at home versus a backup quarterback.
What do you make of it? Ish Talmage?

Speaker 4 (02:32):
I think it's really interesting. I think this bodes well
for Utah, but also there's an element of the they've
been preparing for Leva all week and now that they're
having to change the game plan because Sims is much
more of a runner than leve It is. I think
it's gonna be interesting too because Sims also has a
lot of college experience, and so is he going to
be able to make that transition against the really, really

(02:55):
good Utah defense this week.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Levit is one of the country's most notable quarterbacks. He
led the Sun Devils to the College Football Playoff bit
last season, but his backup Simms does, as you mentioned,
have a has a lot of experience in college football,
and that's why I think Kenny Dillinghan picked him up
in the transfer portal not too long ago. So we'll

(03:18):
see how it plays out. But let's prognosticate. Let's say
Utah does come out with a victory. Let's say that
BYU beats the other Arizona team this week down in Tucson.
That begs the question, Brett, I'm gonna lean on you here.
There's some marquee games next week, but I'm wondering where
college game Day and noon Big Noon Kickoff will end

(03:40):
up next week. Who is BYU and Utah potentially competing
with for that showcase.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
So one of the things that you have to consider
when you're thinking about where these big shows could go
is you have to think about who has the game.
ESPN is less likely to go to a game that
Fox has, and vice versa. So what makes this interesting
is right now BYU Utah is scheduled on Fox. However,

(04:08):
it's scheduled for six o'clock at night. And not to
say that they couldn't, but typically Big Noon Kickoff it's
called Big Noon Kickoff for a reason. They like to
do it at noon. Could they move things around maybe?
Could they still do it at night? Yes, because we
saw them do that last year. So it could happen.
Here's some of the other games that College Game Day

(04:28):
and Big Neon Kickoff could choose.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Ole Miss Georgia.

Speaker 5 (04:32):
That one probably wouldn't be Big New Kickoff because Big
Noon doesn't have SEC games, so they're less likely to
go to those. So that one could be College Game Day,
LSU and Vanderbilt. I know you're gonna say Vanderbilt, but
both those teams are ranked. LSU is eleven, Vanderbilt is twenty.
That could happen Washington, Michigan. Both those teams are playing
really well right now.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
And what are the locations though? Sorry for all those games.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
Yeah, so Ole Miss is at Georgia and then and
LSU is at Vanderbilt. Okay, Texas Tech Arizona State right
now is a ranked matchup, but that's not gonna be
the case assuming that Utah takes care of business, Arizona
State will no longer be ranked.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
And then the other big one.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
I guess they could do USC Notre Dame, but again,
considering neither one of those networks has the game because
that's on NBC and Peacock, I don't think they'll go there.
The other one, though, that could be interesting for Game
Day would be Tennessee Alabama. We know that they need
to shootout lights out every year. If I had to
put money on it, my guess is Game Day goes
to Tennessee at Alabama or Ole Miss at Georgia. But

(05:38):
I do think it is very possible if they take
care of me, because again, those are the only really
big games are SEC games, and Big New Kickoff doesn't
do SEC because they don't have the rights to any
of those games. I think it's actually really likely if
Utah and b what you both look good this weekend.
I think it's very possible that we find out Sunday

(05:59):
morning that Big New Kickoff is coming to Provo for
the second year in a row town.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
As a fan of college football, right, I mean, how
big would that be to have Big New Kickoff again
in Provo in the Holy War.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
So, I think it'd be awesome just having putting that
primetime spotlight on byu Utah. It's such a competitive game
they do very very like. They're always close games, great
games that always gets the entire state out. I think
it would be awesome, especially for college football, and just
put a shine on such a great rivalry.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Love that tell us about some of the big deals
going on over at RGS Exteriors and Construction Ordiar six

catch up again soon. Thank you. All Right, there you go.
That's some college football. Look Sam Levitt being out this week,

(07:30):
uh is a boom for the University of Utah. I
wanted to stay on this topic, you know what I mean,
Like this is very interesting. Levitt is a baller. In fact,
leading up into the season, he was one of the
darlings I think of the media nationally and within the
Big Twelve to become maybe that MVP of the league.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
He was the preseason Big Twelve Offensive Player of the Year.
If I'm exactly I think I'm I don't think I'm
wrong on that. The fact check me, but I'm pretty
sure he was raved about like Arizona State was raved about.
Bred McMurphy went around on poll coach Arizona State Sam
Levit Jordan Tyson, like right, they raved about him in
that regard. So this, if he can't go tomorrow, Ben,
this is a big loss.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Like that.

Speaker 6 (08:09):
Simson is a good quarterback, good good college quarterback, can run,
can move the legs, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
But Sam Levit puts you on a different level.

Speaker 6 (08:15):
He puts you in the Big Twelve title game like
he did last year in the College Football Playoff. So
if he's not able to go with this is gonna
be very interesting to see how this goes. I don't
know what the injury is, but there's multitudes of high level,
you know, people that cover college football reporting he is
doubtful and I even saw another thing saying that he's
trying his best to get out there, but the coaching

(08:36):
staff is even saying no, Like so Sam Levit wants
to play. It's kind of like Isaiah Glasker. Maybe, Hey,
I'm trying to get a game. No, I'm gonna pursued
on the caution if don't do it. But this is
a big loss for Arizona State if Sam Levit can't
go tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
He's a good quarterback. I will say this, the last
time Utah faced a backup quarterback at home, it did
not turn out too well for them. Will Hammond, the
Storm and Mormon out of Texas thirteen of sixteen, one
hundred and sixty nine yards who he's eighty one point
three percent completion percent. His two tudies and a partridge

(09:09):
in a pear tree a carries sixty one yards. And
remember Jeff Simms, the six foot four, two hundred and
twenty pounds senior out of Jacksonville, Florida. You're gonna see
him up at Rice Ecles. He has attempted seven hundred
and five passers in his career, four hundred and five completions.
That's a fifty seven point four percent completion rate, almost
five thousand yards through the air, seven yards per attempt,

(09:32):
thirty one touchdowns. Okay, that's enough to get you to
dub y. He has thrown a crap ton of ian
tz though twenty nine oo sacked by eight times, many sacks,
many sacks. But he's also ran for one thousand and
four and seventy eight yards four point three yards per carry,
and thirteen touchdowns. He is dangerous. We'll see how it

(09:55):
plays out up at Rice Ackles. We do want. I
think Utah to win, right, No Utah fans this weekend.
I don't if it. Bret Brett has beef and I
don't know. Look I'm using are we rooting for Utah
this weekend. I'm usually not the most petty guy on
this panel.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
I'm a pretty petty guy, but there's a lot of
pettiness to go around this weekend.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
I'm the most petty person on the panel.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
I don't care if it means Big Noon Kickoff comes
down and nobody is a bigger studio show NERD than
this guy right here, I don't care. I don't want
Big Noon Kickoff to win come because I want Utah
to lose. I don't care what it means for the rivalry.
I don't care what it means for the storyline business.
Nothing would make me happier than seeing Utah lose. I

(10:44):
respect them at any cost.

Speaker 6 (10:46):
Look, I'll say this, Ben, I'll get my thoughts and
I'll let you finish it out. If Utah wins and
that means Big Neon Kickoff comes and gets suspanked the
booty next week to Utah cool.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
I'm a big fan of it.

Speaker 6 (10:56):
But if they lose and b Au wins, my Utah friend,
know what's gonna happen, as I always do. You know,
you tell me not to do it, but I do
it anyway. I go, I go to Instagram, go to
my page, and I said, what happened? You taw what happened?
So by the means, I would love to have Big
Neon Kickoff here for the second in a row because
it speaks to what you talked about earlier in the show,
Coloni Sataki's culture turning the Ties getting a national attention.

(11:19):
But if it didn't happen in Utah lost time, I'm
also going to chuckle on Sunday as well.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Love the breakdown Kugarnation. Are we oh? Vic, what do
you got from me?

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Hey, I gotta say, we are definitely Utah fans on Saturday,
because what that will do is strengthen BYU's strength of
schedule and in case at the end there's any tiebreakers, Okay,
good point, that could help BYU, you know, get to

(11:49):
the championship game instead of having to watch like last year.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
I do think your strength of schedule argument, I typically
lean into that every single year and I say, look
like you want everyone on the roster or on your
your your schedule to win football games. There are some outliers,
there are some exceptions, no doubt about it. But I
think in this particular case, even though I love some
petty competitiveness, I love the vitriol. I love the the

(12:15):
the anger, the uh, the the the the the energy
that was spewing forth from from bread, always bringing the
hammer's mouth. Uh. I think you're you're rooting on the
Utes history. You're rooting on the Utes. Guys. We need
we need uh, we need the strength of schedule. And
I think you can beat Utah at home as well.
I think that's uh, it bodes well for by So

(12:37):
you wanted to win, because if you want to be
a little bit dinged up, you know, heading into the
Holy War. That's what you want. You want to win,
and then you know, you know, maybe you don't want
to make because they can't b y U b y.
You may not be full strength, you know heading into
that game. But maybe they are because Jack Kelly and
Isaiah Glaser don't have to play this week in Tucson.
Possibly fingers crossed. We'll see how it plays that.

Speaker 6 (12:59):
I'm nervous now, Ben, because you bring up a good point.
If if they lose Era Asu, then you can't lose
to them next week. But if they were to win
this week and then play you next week and you
did lose, like it would be a better strength to
s get like yeah, so that that does.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Worry in me. Actually, yeah, good point, Vic, I'm scared now.
