Heisman front runners right now, and he has Byu at
the number four. And then Joel Klatt thinks that Byu
will go eleven and two, lose to Texas Tech twice
and still not make the playoffs, and even when he
puts him in his top ten, he doesn't like to
talk about it. I'm definitely not on either side of
the spectrum. Both of those guys are crazier than anyone

doing BOU or Utah media. But I think Fox Sports
having just a pure debate on those guys talking BOYU.

I want RG three versus Joel Klatt right now, their
their rating systems, how they justify their their rankings, their
ratings for any number of topics in college football, because BYU.

Fans would definitely be rooting for RG three.

RG three currently has BYU as the number four team
in the country in his top twelve college football teams
after week nine, So Indiana, Ohio State, and Texas A
and M are ahead of BYU. After BYU, though, is
Georgia Tech, Alabama, Oregon, Georgia, Ole, Miss, Texas Tech, Miami,
and Vanderbilt. And then, as you pointed out, top five
Heisman front runners after week nine, Haines King quarterback Georgia Tech,

Julian Saying quarterback Ohio State, Ty Simpson quarterback Alabama, Fernando
Mendoza quarterback Indiana and coming in at number five. Bear
forsch one Air bear Bachmeyer, the bear Tar bear Bachmeyer.

and we are sitting here telling the national guy. Hey,

dring way too much blue kool aid BYU and fourth
on the rankings, and Barry Bachmeyer fifth listen. I'm not
gonna hate on that one at all. But Haines King
number one in the Heisman No way this Mendoz out
of Indiana. He's legitimately the front runner to win the
Heisman Trophy. That is right there. I gotta give it
to Robert Griffin the Third for fourth on his ranking

because he's going by the fact that teams undefeated should
be ahead of teams that have a one loss or
two loss. I respect that, but if you had to
just do it off of strength of schedules or the
way Joe Kladd does, I don't hate the fact that
he has BYU ninth on his list. I think that's
a fair ranking for BYU. Some of the one loss
teams ahead of BYU are they really good? And I

just think I respect the fact that he puts undefeated
teams ahead of one loss teams, But if you had
to go off of strength of schedules, there are some
one lost teams ahead of BYU, So both are really good.
Both are really have their own points. But yeah, I
agree Robert Griffin the Third is drinking a little bit
too much blue kolid.

all of the rankings of college football.

gonna pose the question, Uh, you know, from all of

like where do you rank BYU as a B YU fan?

analyzing the team every single week. You're seeing the wins,
you're seeing the form and factor. And so we'll put

a five game home win streak.

go in there and get a win. Was really one

Where would Iowa State waight right.

I mean, we're what we're really debating is Iowa State
versus Utah?

Are there any other that the Arizona game was a
lot of fun because of how it ended, but I
don't think that you would argue that that win is
more valuable than Iowa State or Utah. And again Colorado
kind of same deal where it ended in spectacular fashion,
but as a win, we're not really comparing that to
Iowa State or Utah.

So then I think what.

You have to kind of get into is you're weighing
objective metrics and winning a big total championship versus emotion
and how petty are you and looked as king petty
number one on this show. Like, I don't disrespect anybody
who says I'm good with beating Utah's as long as
if it means we go one and eleven. I do

think Iowa State is the better win overall, but I
also think Utah was kind of bear Bachmeer's I was
gonna say coming out party, but somebody didn't like when
I said that the other day, So bear Bachmeyer's coming
out party to the national scene I think was the
Utah game. I think you really can make an argument
for either one. I think for me, though, I'd probably

say Iowa State given the fact that I think in
the last their last ten home games, they'd only lost one,
they were on a five game home win streak, they'd
never given up I think a three hundred yard passer.
I think something like fifteen games, something crazy like that.
Like the things that Bay you did to Iowa State
that no else had seemingly been able to do.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
I think the answer is Utah.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
But if you're arguing with your heart and saying Utah
and over Iowa State, I don't hate.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
That either, Ronnie, what do you got, you know, best
to worst?

Speaker 4 (13:11):
How would you rankle? Maybe top to bottom?

Speaker 5 (13:13):
I mean, the worst obviously is West Virginia because West
Virginia hasn't won a game yet in no regard Colorado's
on a game.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
So that's based off of record in Bear and the
Big twelve.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Yeah, Big twelve. Yeah, I'm not talking about non conference.
I'm sorry, guys, you just gotta leave that be, right,
because the BA you supposed to always to go three
and on the non conference until they change and play
other formidable opponents. You can't lose those guys, So going
back to conference play right, And that's not overlooking, that's
just calling out what it is. West Virginia is the
worst win obviously, you know in that regard because they
haven't won a game. Rich Rod has not figured it

(13:44):
out there lost their star running back. The best I'm
gonna go with is Iowa State. You're on the road
in the toughest environment. You had l E S on
your side. Utah had how many fall starts to starting
that on end zone right there in the south end zone,
So you knew that you could honestly look at the
dead charged says BYU was if not if not the same,
if not better in every position on the depth chart,

maybe a couple in Utah's offensive tackles and smith Snowden
in the defensive back room. So maybe outside of that.
So I'm gonna go Iowa State because you lost LJ.

You were forced to throw the football and it was
very impressive. What Bear did you know if that would
have happened at home? Okay, crowd on your side, but
what bar did is a true freshman and everybody that
discrediting BYU not giving them credit. That's why BYU been
was ranked number top ten coming in is because of
what Bear did.

Because they lost LG. That's why they had no choice.

If they didn't, they'd have been given favoritism, they'd have
been disrespecting because if you're not gonna say that BYU
is a top ten team after what they did to
Iowa State, who, by the way, has been I remind
people they've been in two Big twelve championships in last
five to six seasons.

They've been there.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
BYU has it their first season there five and seven.
They lost like four or five straight. They didn't they
didn't get peligible. So no, it's Iowa State win. Utah's
next right now. They're just based on that. So yeah,
that's what I'm going with.

Yeah, I still think, you know, you got to take
Utah's the best win, and I do think Utah is
the better team than out of Iowa State.

I do believe. I think Utah's a better team.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
I think b will you got them at home, and
I think they got uh uh. They they took advantage
of it and uh on a neutral field. It'd be
really interesting to see what happens with BOU and Utah.
You very well could get that in a.

Big twelve championship game. Oh would you like that? Though?

No, I don't think the fans want any piece of that.
They already want. They want to let's just keep it pushing.
You got to losses, but you could sell out Jerry's
World though eighty thousand.

You could also sell out Jerry's Wild with Texas Tech
and Iowa State.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Just saying maybe possibly, I think the country would want
to see it, like give it, yeah, give the vitriol,
the anger. I think the I think the country would
love to see.

Yeah, you probably could Championship weekend.

Possibly, I would be Yeah, that'd be a lot of
fun for everyone who didn't have skin in the game.
If you had skin in the game, you would have
nothing but anxiety for twenty four hours.

Yep, all right, let's get back to it.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
A Rod Saturday. We saw number two Saturday. We saw
something we hadn't seen this season. BA scoring on the
opening drive. What a great response to Iowa State's opening drive.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
It was.

Speaker 8 (16:25):
It was a great response. And you know, a year
ago we were a really good fast start team and
this year, for whatever reason, we've done a lot of
good things, but we hadn't scored on our first drive
yet this year and saw it was real touchdown yeah, touchdown, yeah, touchdown.
So I'm just really happy with the way the guys
execute on this draft catch, great throw and catch there.
Bear had to you know, fit that in that window.

(16:45):
And then this was a big time throwing the chase
and then great run after catch on the on the
boot leg and then you know, of course we got
the ball in the end zone there with LJ put
a big personnel group in there, an extra offensive lineman
and just power.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Well, yeah, it was a great drive. Let's talk about
like scoring on the first drive. Gregor belt put tweets
this out like every single season. I think he talked
about it with like twenty years ago when I was playing,
like on his broadcast, like when BAU scores on the
first drive, like win like ninety percent of the time.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
It's some absurd stat.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
Now, BAU did not score first, but they did score
on their first drive, and it just we kept in
the game.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
We stayed in the game.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Like at the end of the first half, I was
I was, I was chatting with my former players groups
and and and we were just kind of all like
in awe that BAU was still in the game with
Iowa State accumulating for three hundred twenty yards of total offense,
Like somehow, Bo, you found a way to continue to
score that is a tip of the cap to eight Rod.
This is a tip of the cap to this offense. Yes,

(17:50):
but a Rod and his coaching staff, in my opinion,
because you lost LJ Martin and much of what this
offense is built around. Let's be honest, he's built around
LJ and Bear in the run game, and they did
not have l J. Unfortunately, not to take anything away
from any of the running backs, it's not LJ.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
No one's LJ on this roster, and that's okay.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
You don't typically have two bell Cow NFL running backs
on your roster, like I don't know if BYU has
ever had that, quite honestly, the only thing that you
could say is like, well, they've had two like you,
They've had a full back like Harvey Youung and Fui Vakapuna.
We're like running back tail running back full back. Fui

(18:31):
played fullback in the NFL, but he was a running
back at BYU. It's a rarity, like two NFL running
backs in the backfield for BA. That does not happen, Okay,
it just doesn't. So anyway, what I'm getting at is
A Rod deserves his flowers, and I hope more and

(18:52):
more bway fans are giving him his flowers at least
this week. Look, they can turn on you just as
fast as they can praise you. If you know you could.
You could lose the fan base in the by week
for all I know. Maybe not in the bye week,
but versus Tech Tec on the road, you can be zero.
You can go from hero to zero, from zero to
hero real quick with any fan base.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
If BYU doesn't get that opening drive touchdown, I think
you could make the case that they probably lose that
football game. That's assuming that LJ still gets hurt in
all of those things. But it felt like Iowa State
they sucked all the air out of BYU's lungs on
that opening play because it was just a monster shot
and follow Towe was a little eight getting over there,

(19:34):
and then he jumps the route. It felt like for
a second there, oh, no, are we in trouble because
we are on the road.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
We are in ames.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
If BYU doesn't respond with a touchdown on that opening drive,
I mean, incredible time for you to get your first.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
Opening drive touchdown of the game.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
And you probably were never more desperate for an opening
drive touchdown than at Iowa State. I think there's a possibility.
If BOU doesn't get that, they just can never swing
back momentum their way and they probably lose that game.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
However, as much as ioways state stole.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
The momentum with that shot by you took everything back
by driving down the field and getting that touchdown. But
if they don't get it, I think we are in
a scary situation.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
Scary indeed. Scary indeed, But shout out to a Rod
number three. This team was down ten points and lost LJ.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
Mart. You were working with some adversity early in this.

Speaker 8 (20:27):
Game, Yeah, for sure. And you know our game plan
starts with LJ. Every week. We're a physical run team.
That's where we want to start in. Our passing game
is mostly this year our success, most of it's been
off with play action to you know, off of stuff
to LJ. So losing him was a blow, not only
in we're losing one of our best players, but also

(20:49):
pretty large chunk of our game plan that's geared around him.
So but I thought our coaches and players, we all
did a good job working together to figure out some
answers about him, and it took some It took some
work there. You know, we had a quarter where we
just kind of didn't the best we could. Then we
had halftime was really where we where we figured out
some more things.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
They went into half and I thought they did a
great job at half times. So they ended up putting
up the same amount of points in the second half
to that of the first half.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
Do you realize that seventeen to seventeen? Right, I didn't.
I had not thought about it. I just thinking about that, and.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
Then you got an additional score from the defense, So
he did equivalency. He just continued on pace. He was
you know what I mean, right, Like, is my math incorrect?

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Well, well, they scored twenty four points in the second half, okay, Okay,
well yeah, but.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
They scored seventeen in the first half. Well that's well,
they scored twenty four because there was a defensive touchdown.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
Okay, so you're talking about the offense specifically, Yes.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
Offense scoring, right, there was equipment there, it was and
I don't know about total yards, but I imagine it
was also pretty close. I don't know if you have
first half to second half total yards of offense. But
at the end of the day, look shout out to Abron,
Shout out to Abron.

I will say, though, this was a bad time to
find out what you had at your backup running back spot.
And I know we've been talking about this seemingly every

now they're getting second opinions, right, so they go into
the external medical groups that aren't necessarily contracted out with
b YU and you may go up to Salt Lake.

You may go up to Park City. You may go
you know, to.

Rosenberg Couli, or you go up to Tosh or whatever. Right,
you get a second opinion, and then you come to
the conclusion as to what you're gonna do, what your
treatment plan is collectively right.

So I don't know if that takes any sense.

So at that time on Monday, when they're getting second opinions,
and some people say, well, is second opinion is a
bad thing, No, it's just it's education. You typically want
to get a second opinion on your musclear skeletal health
if you're a athlete. So you have the imaging and
then you have the manual evow hands on. Let me

check range of motion, let me look at swelling, let
me look at the skin, let me look at the joint.
Let me see if there's any sort of like manipulation
in that joint. And so they're evaluating the gleno humoral
joint like your big old armbone that goes up into
your arm socket. They're looking at that, and they're also
looking at the AC joint out by the mechanism. I
think it's an AC joint separation. Okay, I think it's

an AC joint, the crombia clivicular joint. And if it is,
I think that boots well for by U and LJ
coming back.

Glenno humoral supplexation dislocation, he is still playing. He still

label tears. You know, you start doing physical therapy, get

for the athlete long term, and they take all that

out with it Bay you again will be somewhere between

I don't think they'll get higher than that, but I
think the floor is thirteen. The reason why I say
that this is what it comes down to. Are they
an undefeated or one loss team going into the title game? Right,
I said, I think they'll be eleven to one. Now
you lose two games, you're out. You're at thirteen. You're
gonna be sitting on the outside. Look and then unfortunately
that's just how it goes. They're not gonna put a
two loss Big twelve team into Martin Kelly's point. Over

a two loss SEC team, it will not happen. Over
a two loss big team team. It will not happen.
Even if they have a better strength to schedule, they
will not do it. Human nature, the committee won't. They're
gonna falter. They're gonna be like, I can't do that.
But if you're a defeated going into the title game
and you lose that game, you have a shot in
my opinion, because I think a one lost BAU team,

if your only loss was that the conference championship will
devote should go it should vote more and hold more
weight and not kicking you out.

want to believe that they have the dogs, they have
the horses to make not only the College Football Playoff,
or not only to win a Big twelve championship or
at least get to the Big Towal Championship, but enter
into the COLLG Football Playoff and have a game in
the biggest stage in college football, you know, in the

college football world. I think at the end of the year,
as I look at the talent, I look at the coaching,
I looked at the resources, I look at the abilities
of this team.

we have a stout defensive front, but we don't have
like a like super long athletic defensive front that runs
sidelin the sideline, we can get out flanked.

and he was better than all the guys that you

it tells you kind of his his trajectory and his

will take. I will still take Notre Dame, but it
is it is a fifty to fifty game in my eyes.
