Speaker 6 (02:39):
Seven hundred's got some guys.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Spence, Spence, Sen.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Oh c could play a Porter Larsen school like they
got some guys over there, like they can play.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Amongst the BYU media. I think we're the only athletes.
No wait, Spencer, vincel Linton, Jerem Jordan, do they are
they athletes?
Speaker 6 (02:57):
They play?
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Oh wait a second, we gotta get you too.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
They play, they play, Yeah, they play, but like some
more than others.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
It's one thing to play patty cake, it's another one
way you know, do.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
They ever go to the uh uh the media tournament
that they are?
Speaker 6 (03:16):
Yeah, there you go. Yeah, Spencer's on opposite team.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
I look.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
All I'm saying is we got a six y nine
left tackle. You know who's going who's gonna light it up?
He's been talking about it. So we got Martin, Bryce
Cans still blem Sam bro if you want to take
our squad on and I'll take those chances.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Let's go, guys. It's a great day to be a Cougar.
It's a great day to be on Cougar Spores. Ronalds
by my side, Brad always bringing the hammer hammertime show.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
What's up, buddy, I'm giving Fox Sports a free piece
of content.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Are you ready? Let's go.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
This is what we need, just just one time debate.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Joel Klatt, the biggest b YU hater against r G three,
a man who loves b YU more than any b
YU media.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
This is a guy in.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
RG three who has Bear Bachermeier in his top five
Heisman front runners right now, and he has Byu at
the number four. And then Joel Klatt thinks that Byu
will go eleven and two, lose to Texas Tech twice
and still not make the playoffs, and even when he
puts him in his top ten, he doesn't like to
talk about it. I'm definitely not on either side of
the spectrum. Both of those guys are crazier than anyone
(04:18):
doing BOU or Utah media. But I think Fox Sports
having just a pure debate on those guys talking BOYU.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Would be highly entertained.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
I want RG three versus Joel Klatt right now, their
their rating systems, how they justify their their rankings, their
ratings for any number of topics in college football, because BYU.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
Fans would definitely be rooting for RG three.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
RG three currently has BYU as the number four team
in the country in his top twelve college football teams
after week nine, So Indiana, Ohio State, and Texas A
and M are ahead of BYU. After BYU, though, is
Georgia Tech, Alabama, Oregon, Georgia, Ole, Miss, Texas Tech, Miami,
and Vanderbilt. And then, as you pointed out, top five
Heisman front runners after week nine, Haines King quarterback Georgia Tech,
(05:05):
Julian Saying quarterback Ohio State, Ty Simpson quarterback Alabama, Fernando
Mendoza quarterback Indiana and coming in at number five. Bear
forsch one Air bear Bachmeyer, the bear Tar bear Bachmeyer.
That is crazy insane, like we're b y U guys,
and we are sitting here telling the national guy. Hey,
(05:28):
RG three, you may be drinking a little too much
of that blue kool lady, I love. I don't know
about that one. Look everybody else's cheeks compared to compared
to Robert Griffin the third. We like thirds around here.
We got Ronald the three man. We were Ronald Weaver
the third, and we got RG three and Rob Right
the third, Rob Right the third.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (05:49):
We got all these we got uh he used to
call Gary Bhanna and GB three.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
G three.
Speaker 6 (05:55):
Cha the number.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
Hey we like three? Three? Is my luck?
Speaker 6 (06:00):
R D three rated the mooney three?
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Oh yeah, goodez. All right, guys, VIC on the data
on the newsletter, appreciate him showing up, showing out today,
and let's welcome and Martin Kelly to show Martin how
you living, buddy.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Not too bad?
Speaker 6 (06:16):
Not too bad?
Speaker 7 (06:17):
I agree with him? Or Robert Griffin the third is
dring way too much blue kool aid BYU and fourth
on the rankings, and Barry Bachmeyer fifth listen. I'm not
gonna hate on that one at all. But Haines King
number one in the Heisman No way this Mendoz out
of Indiana. He's legitimately the front runner to win the
Heisman Trophy. That is right there. I gotta give it
to Robert Griffin the Third for fourth on his ranking
(06:39):
because he's going by the fact that teams undefeated should
be ahead of teams that have a one loss or
two loss. I respect that, but if you had to
just do it off of strength of schedules or the
way Joe Kladd does, I don't hate the fact that
he has BYU ninth on his list. I think that's
a fair ranking for BYU. Some of the one loss
teams ahead of BYU are they really good? And I
(07:01):
just think I respect the fact that he puts undefeated
teams ahead of one loss teams, But if you had
to go off of strength of schedules, there are some
one lost teams ahead of BYU, So both are really good.
Both are really have their own points. But yeah, I
agree Robert Griffin the Third is drinking a little bit
too much blue kolid.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
I'm gonna put together for our question of the day,
all of the rankings of college football.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
So we're gonna get into Sagarin.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Massy, ESPN, FPI SP plus, which is more of an
efficiency rating ap POLE obviously Coaches Poll, and then I'm
gonna pose the question, Uh, you know, from all of
the you have the human element, you have the analytical element,
like where do you rank BYU as a B YU fan?
Speaker 4 (07:42):
Where do you put b YU in college football? This season?
Speaker 3 (07:46):
You get to see the team every single week. You're
analyzing the team every single week. You're seeing the wins,
you're seeing the form and factor. And so we'll put
that out as the question of the day time that
I don't want to hear from you act crudal Benjamin.
We'll be putting that out here. Shortly. Check out the
rest of our ESPN the Fan starting lineup. We got
to start to the cash as always alongside each and
every single one of these co hosts and hosts of
(08:09):
the show, We're gonna get into a rod sound to
start us off in. Then Neddie Griddy, your offensive coordinator
and quarterbacks coach, he pontificated on the coordinator's corner. We
want to read between the lines on those sound bites.
We'll get into also Kilanie Satake commentary, so don't want
to miss that. At three h five a few more
soundbites from Killani. He discusses the running back room. There
(08:29):
could be an emerging running back that no one knows about.
You don't know, but you're about to find out, he says. Also,
Gus Johnson giving Bear Bachmeyer a new nickname, and that's
gonna be at three thirty, so don't want to miss
that three thirty little Cougar byte action. At four five,
let's talk about Stat's Parker fleming of CFB grafts, the
little statso war action.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Is there a team?
Speaker 3 (08:53):
How much does he trust his Bway football team is
what we're gonna get at. There's a number of analytics, yep,
that he points out, and he may not trust by
you as much as maybe others are trusting by you.
We'll delve into that. At four point thirty. We'll welcome
in Aaron Klove RGS six series, a little college football talk.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
Don't miss that.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
As we get into some of the news and notes
of the college football world. Also, we'll welcome in Blaine
Anderson talk about TV viewership at four forty five. So
how is BYU fared in TV viewership thus far this season.
What does it look like? And one of my favorite
guests At five o five Little Caboose. On the end,
Guy Holiday will be joining guys. Former b YU of
(09:32):
Utah Wide Receivers coach, and then Steve Klements, former BA quarterback,
will join us at five thirty Little Keeping Up with
the Cougars brought to you by Odeon Men's where Odion
Menswear dot Com should be a fantastic show.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
Great show, Let's get right into it.
Speaker 3 (09:44):

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Nitty gritty brought to you by our good friend ze

That's eight O one four hundred zero eight eight five
eight oh one four hundred zero eight eight five Complete
circuit Electric, Complete circuit Electric Utah dot com a rod
BYU offense coordinator. Uh, this is what he had to
(10:59):
say coordinators quarter. Earlier this week, Iowa State was on
a five game home win streak.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
What does it mean to get the win?
Speaker 8 (11:07):
It aims Yeah, great great environment, what a great great stadium. Uh,
crowd noise was a factor. They were, they were into it.
They're a great program, and it was it was to
go in there and get a win. Was really one
of the more satisfying, you know games I've been a
part of in a while.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
We put this out there, best win of the season.
Where would Iowa State waight right.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Best win of the season.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
I mean, we're what we're really debating is Iowa State
versus Utah?
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Right?
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Are there any other that the Arizona game was a
lot of fun because of how it ended, but I
don't think that you would argue that that win is
more valuable than Iowa State or Utah. And again Colorado
kind of same deal where it ended in spectacular fashion,
but as a win, we're not really comparing that to
Iowa State or Utah.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
So then I think what.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
You have to kind of get into is you're weighing
objective metrics and winning a big total championship versus emotion
and how petty are you and looked as king petty
number one on this show. Like, I don't disrespect anybody
who says I'm good with beating Utah's as long as
if it means we go one and eleven. I do
(12:20):
think Iowa State is the better win overall, but I
also think Utah was kind of bear Bachmeer's I was
gonna say coming out party, but somebody didn't like when
I said that the other day, So bear Bachmeyer's coming
out party to the national scene I think was the
Utah game. I think you really can make an argument
for either one. I think for me, though, I'd probably
(12:41):
say Iowa State given the fact that I think in
the last their last ten home games, they'd only lost one,
they were on a five game home win streak, they'd
never given up I think a three hundred yard passer.
I think something like fifteen games, something crazy like that.
Like the things that Bay you did to Iowa State
that no else had seemingly been able to do.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
I think the answer is Utah.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
But if you're arguing with your heart and saying Utah
and over Iowa State, I don't hate.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
That either, Ronnie, what do you got, you know, best
to worst?
Speaker 4 (13:11):
How would you rankle? Maybe top to bottom?
Speaker 5 (13:13):
I mean, the worst obviously is West Virginia because West
Virginia hasn't won a game yet in no regard Colorado's
on a game.
Speaker 6 (13:19):
So that's based off of record in Bear and the
Big twelve.
Speaker 5 (13:23):
Yeah, Big twelve. Yeah, I'm not talking about non conference.
I'm sorry, guys, you just gotta leave that be, right,
because the BA you supposed to always to go three
and on the non conference until they change and play
other formidable opponents. You can't lose those guys, So going
back to conference play right, And that's not overlooking, that's
just calling out what it is. West Virginia is the
worst win obviously, you know in that regard because they
haven't won a game. Rich Rod has not figured it
(13:44):
out there lost their star running back. The best I'm
gonna go with is Iowa State. You're on the road
in the toughest environment. You had l E S on
your side. Utah had how many fall starts to starting
that on end zone right there in the south end zone,
So you knew that you could honestly look at the
dead charged says BYU was if not if not the same,
if not better in every position on the depth chart,
(14:05):
maybe a couple in Utah's offensive tackles and smith Snowden
in the defensive back room. So maybe outside of that.
So I'm gonna go Iowa State because you lost LJ.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
Martin.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
You were forced to throw the football and it was
very impressive. What Bear did you know if that would
have happened at home? Okay, crowd on your side, but
what bar did is a true freshman and everybody that
discrediting BYU not giving them credit. That's why BYU been
was ranked number top ten coming in is because of
what Bear did.
Speaker 6 (14:33):
Because they lost LG. That's why they had no choice.
Speaker 5 (14:36):
If they didn't, they'd have been given favoritism, they'd have
been disrespecting because if you're not gonna say that BYU
is a top ten team after what they did to
Iowa State, who, by the way, has been I remind
people they've been in two Big twelve championships in last
five to six seasons.
Speaker 6 (14:49):
They've been there.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
BYU has it their first season there five and seven.
They lost like four or five straight. They didn't they
didn't get peligible. So no, it's Iowa State win. Utah's
next right now. They're just based on that. So yeah,
that's what I'm going with.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Yeah, I still think, you know, you got to take
Utah's the best win, and I do think Utah is
the better team than out of Iowa State.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
I do believe. I think Utah's a better team.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
I think b will you got them at home, and
I think they got uh uh. They they took advantage
of it and uh on a neutral field. It'd be
really interesting to see what happens with BOU and Utah.
You very well could get that in a.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
Big twelve championship game. Oh would you like that? Though?
Speaker 6 (15:32):
No?
Speaker 3 (15:32):
No, I don't think the fans want any piece of that.
They already want. They want to let's just keep it pushing.
You got to losses, but you could sell out Jerry's
World though eighty thousand.
Speaker 6 (15:42):
You could also sell out Jerry's Wild with Texas Tech
and Iowa State.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Just saying maybe possibly, I think the country would want
to see it, like give it, yeah, give the vitriol,
the anger. I think the I think the country would
love to see.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Yeah, you probably could Championship weekend.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Possibly, I would be Yeah, that'd be a lot of
fun for everyone who didn't have skin in the game.
If you had skin in the game, you would have
nothing but anxiety for twenty four hours.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
Yep, all right, let's get back to it.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
A Rod Saturday. We saw number two Saturday. We saw
something we hadn't seen this season. BA scoring on the
opening drive. What a great response to Iowa State's opening drive.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
It was.
Speaker 8 (16:25):
It was a great response. And you know, a year
ago we were a really good fast start team and
this year, for whatever reason, we've done a lot of
good things, but we hadn't scored on our first drive
yet this year and saw it was real touchdown yeah, touchdown, yeah, touchdown.
So I'm just really happy with the way the guys
execute on this draft catch, great throw and catch there.
Bear had to you know, fit that in that window.
(16:45):
And then this was a big time throwing the chase
and then great run after catch on the on the
boot leg and then you know, of course we got
the ball in the end zone there with LJ put
a big personnel group in there, an extra offensive lineman
and just power.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Well, yeah, it was a great drive. Let's talk about
like scoring on the first drive. Gregor belt put tweets
this out like every single season. I think he talked
about it with like twenty years ago when I was playing,
like on his broadcast, like when BAU scores on the
first drive, like win like ninety percent of the time.
Speaker 4 (17:18):
It's some absurd stat.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Now, BAU did not score first, but they did score
on their first drive, and it just we kept in
the game.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
We stayed in the game.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Like at the end of the first half, I was
I was, I was chatting with my former players groups
and and and we were just kind of all like
in awe that BAU was still in the game with
Iowa State accumulating for three hundred twenty yards of total offense,
Like somehow, Bo, you found a way to continue to
score that is a tip of the cap to eight Rod.
This is a tip of the cap to this offense. Yes,
(17:50):
but a Rod and his coaching staff, in my opinion,
because you lost LJ Martin and much of what this
offense is built around. Let's be honest, he's built around
LJ and Bear in the run game, and they did
not have l J. Unfortunately, not to take anything away
from any of the running backs, it's not LJ.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
No one's LJ on this roster, and that's okay.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
You don't typically have two bell Cow NFL running backs
on your roster, like I don't know if BYU has
ever had that, quite honestly, the only thing that you
could say is like, well, they've had two like you,
They've had a full back like Harvey Youung and Fui Vakapuna.
We're like running back tail running back full back. Fui
(18:31):
played fullback in the NFL, but he was a running
back at BYU. It's a rarity, like two NFL running
backs in the backfield for BA. That does not happen, Okay,
it just doesn't. So anyway, what I'm getting at is
A Rod deserves his flowers, and I hope more and
(18:52):
more bway fans are giving him his flowers at least
this week. Look, they can turn on you just as
fast as they can praise you. If you know you could.
You could lose the fan base in the by week
for all I know. Maybe not in the bye week,
but versus Tech Tec on the road, you can be zero.
You can go from hero to zero, from zero to
hero real quick with any fan base.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
If BYU doesn't get that opening drive touchdown, I think
you could make the case that they probably lose that
football game. That's assuming that LJ still gets hurt in
all of those things. But it felt like Iowa State
they sucked all the air out of BYU's lungs on
that opening play because it was just a monster shot
and follow Towe was a little eight getting over there,
(19:34):
and then he jumps the route. It felt like for
a second there, oh, no, are we in trouble because
we are on the road.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
We are in ames.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
If BYU doesn't respond with a touchdown on that opening drive,
I mean, incredible time for you to get your first.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Opening drive touchdown of the game.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
And you probably were never more desperate for an opening
drive touchdown than at Iowa State. I think there's a possibility.
If BOU doesn't get that, they just can never swing
back momentum their way and they probably lose that game.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
However, as much as ioways state stole.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
The momentum with that shot by you took everything back
by driving down the field and getting that touchdown. But
if they don't get it, I think we are in
a scary situation.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
Scary indeed. Scary indeed, But shout out to a Rod
number three. This team was down ten points and lost LJ.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Mart. You were working with some adversity early in this.
Speaker 8 (20:27):
Game, Yeah, for sure. And you know our game plan
starts with LJ. Every week. We're a physical run team.
That's where we want to start in. Our passing game
is mostly this year our success, most of it's been
off with play action to you know, off of stuff
to LJ. So losing him was a blow, not only
in we're losing one of our best players, but also
(20:49):
pretty large chunk of our game plan that's geared around him.
So but I thought our coaches and players, we all
did a good job working together to figure out some
answers about him, and it took some It took some
work there. You know, we had a quarter where we
just kind of didn't the best we could. Then we
had halftime was really where we where we figured out
some more things.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
They went into half and I thought they did a
great job at half times. So they ended up putting
up the same amount of points in the second half
to that of the first half.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Do you realize that seventeen to seventeen? Right, I didn't.
I had not thought about it. I just thinking about that, and.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Then you got an additional score from the defense, So
he did equivalency. He just continued on pace. He was
you know what I mean, right, Like, is my math incorrect?
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Well, well, they scored twenty four points in the second half, okay, Okay,
well yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
They scored seventeen in the first half. Well that's well,
they scored twenty four because there was a defensive touchdown.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Okay, so you're talking about the offense specifically, Yes.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Offense scoring, right, there was equipment there, it was and
I don't know about total yards, but I imagine it
was also pretty close. I don't know if you have
first half to second half total yards of offense. But
at the end of the day, look shout out to Abron,
Shout out to Abron.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
I will say, though, this was a bad time to
find out what you had at your backup running back spot.
And I know we've been talking about this seemingly every
week of the season, but we've been saying like, hey,
you gotta find out who your backup is. And the
worst time to have to find out what you're gonna
do when you don't have LJ is on the road
in Ams. Now, all the credit in the world to
(22:36):
a Rod and this football team, because it didn't matter
that LJ went down.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
The offense was just as just as.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
Maybe if not more productive in the second half, and
so like to the people like me who kept saying, hey,
who's what are you gonna do when you don't have LJ, like,
they still found an answer. However, then when you're in
Monday media availability and someone asks you, hey, if you
thought about moving someone to the running back position and
you're like, uh, maybe we're considering all options, that tells
(23:03):
me that maybe you don't feel super.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
Confident in what you still have there.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Again, it didn't matter because they got the result that
they needed, But there could not have been a worse
time for you to have to find out what happens
when you don't have LJ.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
Than at ams. This is a nightmare.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
It was a bit of a Halloween nightmare that turned
in two a celestial experience on the road.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
It just really was.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
It ended up being a beautiful dream that all of Kugnation.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
Dreamt of, right.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
I mean, if you're talking to Ben Krittle back in
two thousand and ten when b Yu went in da Independence,
we're just hoping, Okay, we're making this. We just want
to be here an independent for two, three, four five
years at most and then get the invite to the
Pac twelve or the Big twelve.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
Right.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
The dream of wandering the desert for so long was
to get into a power for conference, power five conference
and to be able to be capable of winning on
the road in the most hostile environments amidst some of
the best fan bases in college football.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
And you did that, and you did it with flair, you.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
Did it with style, you did it with complimentary football,
and the world took notice. Two point six million vrs.
Boom shacka lock up. Now, what is the status Aaron
on LJ.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
Martin.
Speaker 8 (24:30):
Yeah, well, it'll be a little longer till we know
he's I think he's he's already seen some doctors. I
think he's seen some more today and the next couple
of days they'll be some we'll find out more.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
So can you take us through what the process is like?
Speaker 1 (24:45):
Because I think a lot of fans don't understand, like
when a player gets hurt, is there a team doctor
that they go to? Are they going to the clinic
down the road? What's the process like? And cause I
think a lot of fans when they hear oh, he
saw doctors and he saw more doctors, they had to like,
can you take us through that process?
Speaker 4 (25:00):
And a little bit behind the curtain. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
So number one, you have Brett Mortenson TJ. Bass who
are your your athletic trenders doctor. Brett Mortenson's a uh,
a physical therapist.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
He's a PhD physical therapist. So all the exercise physiology,
all the anatomy physiology, all the studies that are associated
with being in a PhD.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
He's got it all. Uh. And then t J.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Baster is kind of like the head football athletic trainer
and so he's been an athletic trader for a long time.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
And then in co.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Correlation with that, you have Kolby Clawson who's also a
physical therapist. Terrence Motley is also a physical therapist, and
he's over like the director of rehab. And then you
have uh the uh the internal meda medical staff. So
like doctor Dane Alred, he's an orthopedic surgeon. You have
(25:52):
some non surgical UH physicians as well on staff.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
UH. I believe they have.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
A couple here that that are within.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
Within the kind of the staff.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
You know, I can name them all, but anyway, they
all valuate the shoulder, right, and they're gonna come to
some sort of conclusion.
Speaker 4 (26:15):
They ended up.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Shutting him down for the game X rays and they
said no x ray.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
Well, yeah, they took x rays. Yeah, typically they there
is now.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
There are ways in which you can get like like
some MRI imaging at on the road, but like they
typically want to come back for that. So they they
come back Sunday. They typically Mriot or Monday, depending on
how how quickly you need the imaging. They got evaluated
by probably the the internal staff again on Sunday, and
(26:50):
now they're getting second opinions, right, so they go into
the external medical groups that aren't necessarily contracted out with
b YU and you may go up to Salt Lake.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
You may go up to Park City. You may go
you know, to.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
Rosenberg Couli, or you go up to Tosh or whatever. Right,
you get a second opinion, and then you come to
the conclusion as to what you're gonna do, what your
treatment plan is collectively right.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
So I don't know if that takes any sense.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
So at that time on Monday, when they're getting second opinions,
and some people say, well, is second opinion is a
bad thing, No, it's just it's education. You typically want
to get a second opinion on your musclear skeletal health
if you're a athlete. So you have the imaging and
then you have the manual evow hands on. Let me
(27:43):
check range of motion, let me look at swelling, let
me look at the skin, let me look at the joint.
Let me see if there's any sort of like manipulation
in that joint. And so they're evaluating the gleno humoral
joint like your big old armbone that goes up into
your arm socket. They're looking at that, and they're also
looking at the AC joint out by the mechanism. I
think it's an AC joint separation. Okay, I think it's
(28:04):
an AC joint, the crombia clivicular joint. And if it is,
I think that boots well for by U and LJ
coming back.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Even if it's a.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
Glenno humoral supplexation dislocation, he is still playing. He still
play because it's probably a laboral tear at worst, and
label tears. You know, you start doing physical therapy, get
a little creatin in you, you know, and start to
strengthen that shoulder again, put a brace on it. Compression
where guys have been playing with that, I mean, shit,
(28:33):
you saw you saw Carson Wentz with like an armed
I don't know if you watched that game. He was
like dislocating. Yeah, he just kept on dislocating it. He was,
but he still played and he finally pulled him all right,
So like you can play, and I don't think his
joint is that lax after a first go around anyway,
(28:54):
Like Carson's got a like a really lax shoulder. So
that's kind of process. They want to do what's best
for the athlete long term, and they take all that
into account, like is it gonna be?
Speaker 4 (29:07):
Can you make it worse? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (29:08):
You probably can make it worse, right, you can, but
you know, do you want to continue to play? And
how how much of a long term impact is that.
Maybe we'll get an orthpeedic surgeon on to talk about this.
That'd be the best thing to do. They can, they
can pontificate on it a little bit more. Let's get
back to the sound a Rod status of LJ mor
(29:30):
We're done with that logo. Lutuwei made a big play
to get your offense back on the field.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
Explain what he did? Number five?
Speaker 8 (29:38):
Yeah, that was huge. E was a bizarre play too.
I'm not sure who Roco was throwing it to. He's
a heck of a quarterbacks. We've watched him on film
so much and he's been such a good player, and
that was that one was a mystery. But we'll take it.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
We'll take a defensive end on the sideline making a
play like that.
Speaker 8 (29:53):
Loan and that really really was a big.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
Play, nassive play, guys. I think we got confirmation on
what happened. What happened, gentlemen, Yeah, oh yeah, thanks you Brett.
I'll say it, yeah, Brett.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
And now we're looking at it, We're like, this ball had
to be tipped, so Brett hammer and this always said,
we check Tate Ben trying to do our best journalist
to check tape. That's what Jock's check you taught us
out well as being a former player. Keanu Ton of
Vasa tips the ball. J Drew actually quot tweeted your
thing and says in the press box they said it
indeed got tipped by Keon Ton of Austa. So Rocco
was throwing to the right guy who was opened to
(30:25):
wave his hand, but because fifty seven has them big
palls up front, he tipped it. And then the other
big palls of number seven said.
Speaker 6 (30:31):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
Beautiful play. Keanu Ton of Austin great.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
Not getting enough credit, by the way, for enough credit
the way and Rocco is taking a lot of heat
owing that pass.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
We're all like, oh, what an idiot? Why did he
throw that?
Speaker 3 (30:45):
It's like, well, and.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
Look, I've gone back and watched from several different angles.
Keanu gets his hand on the ball, but it's not
a full bat down like the ball still looks like
it's moving and rotating the way that it should be.
But Keanu gets enough of his hand on the ball
to slow it down so that it goes to Logan
but it doesn't wobble or move, and so it looks
(31:08):
like a pass that Roco threw. So then Roco takes
all his heat from making a poor decision. Keanu doesn't
get enough credit for getting his hand on the ball. Yeah,
and Logan gets as much credit as he should for
intercepting the ball.
Speaker 4 (31:20):
But look, Roco beck does a really good quarterback.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
When that happened, we all were texting, like, why in
the world did Roco throw that? That doesn't make any sense.
We thought he was one of the best quarterbacks in
the Big Twelve. Well, turns out Keanutanovasa.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
Just made a really great play.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
Shout out to Keanu hasn't gotten maybe a whole lot
of love from the Kugarnation this year, but he's doing
the dirty work, the lord's work in the trenches.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
We've seen him or not seen him, but in the
Iowa State game, it felt like we saw him out
on the edge a few times. Do you think that
that's something that they'll continue to employ, because it felt
like when they moved him out there, it felt like
he had some success. Obviously, he stay in the middle
like for majority, but do you think they'll keep doing
that because I thought he looked pretty good out there.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
Yeah, so when you're willing to so if you put him,
I think in that particular situation, that particular play. So
he lined up in a three tech, which is essentially
over the guard. He was not in the one tech
or zero technique over the centers. They drop Logan Latui
on that same side in.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
The coverage, right, yep, okay.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
So then he everyone kind of in and the and
the and the pressure came from the field side from
I want to say, Max Alfred the gap, so everyone
kind of shifts over and that's why he was on
like over by like the sea gap to end the
play and getting his hand up. That being said, I
do think from a if you're a tenured guy and
(32:47):
you understand front and you understand different techniques like growing
up at one point or another, he was a defensive
end Kiana was he's got so big that he had
moved him inside.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
We do employ some thirty fronts.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
You're right, so and uh and and putting Keano at
the five tech sometimes will give him an opportunity which
is like over the defense offensive tackle as a d N.
Sometimes that will allow him to get a one on
one with a tackle depending on how they want to
block it and one on ones for Keanu gonna be good?
(33:25):
Now is he a speed rusher? Is he gonna, you know,
do all that? No, but he will bull rush the
crap out of you. I don't want to one. They
did this once upon a time with Kyros Tonga, and
it's very difficult to block a big guy that has
some explosivity to him. If he bulls rushing. It's like
you just start getting backed up, right. He's like, don't
don't they do that hop step hop step hot step?
Speaker 4 (33:45):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
It's kind of like back it up and it'll collapse
pockets pretty nicely, and and and and and it also
gives it gives them an opportunity to do something different.
And like everybody wants the ability to rush off the edge.
Everybody wants to be the premier pass rusher, so it
(34:06):
kind of gives them a cookie and incentive. And John
Tamway pay has been good, as Purcell has been good.
Josh Kirkland or Josh is it Josh Kirklan Just I'm
like Josh, j I was just talking to my brother Josh.
Speaker 6 (34:20):
Was Josh Curdle good?
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Yeah, Josh my neighbor as well, uh in your neighbor
and uh so like if you do go to a
thirty front, Keanu's Keanu moving out at the five tech.
It's like, you know, well done, thou good and faithful servant,
like eating down all these blocks. Now go get the
quarterback and get a chance to do it.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
That's nice.
Speaker 5 (34:42):
He would he would have had a Roco too, Rocco
hashtag the little almost kid. Anyway he had he would
have had a Roco too. But he drew a cup
of holding calls. Guys did not like Keano on the end,
Like Keanu was getting there and I'm like holding holding
then if I throw the flag, I'm like, fifty seven
is a problem in that in that thirty front that
they run Ben when he's on the edge, he drew
a couple, So that might be the guy that is
(35:03):
not getting enough talk of getting enough praise. Tip Ball
drew a couple holding penalties. That's impressive in my opinion.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
Guys, let's get it. Take a brief time out. We'll
come back though. More soundbites from Aaron Rodders, your offensive
coordinator reading between the lines coming up next. Ronald three
Man Weaver, Red Hammer by my side, Vic on the
data and my guy Martin Kelly behind the glass. Let's
get into a question of poll today and more coming

Band of the Day brought you by Royal Army Brand

Speaker 4 (37:51):
Question of the Day.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
What is BYU's true ranking in your opinion. I've been aggregating,
looking at all the different metrics, all the different you
know you polls and metrics here, analytics that contribute to
the conversation, right, and so I have now I got
seven different metrics that we can break down. What is
(38:12):
BYU's true ranking in your opinion? Mass He's got bus
eighth Coaches Poll, has BA at ninth, ap Pole at tenth, ESPN,
FPI sixteenth, FEI, Framo eighteenth, ESPN sp plus nineteenth, and
then Sagarin at twenty fourth. Okay, so it gives you
(38:33):
kind of a broad spectrum. Obviously, there are top twenty
five teams. They are top twenty five teen. RG Three's
got them at number four. I don't know if that's
an accurate depiction. I don't know if that's who bway
you wa wait, but you know there's some truth in
between all these numbers. Where do you see BYU ending
up at the end of the season. Last year they
were thirteenth, right, going eleven and two with a big
(38:55):
win in the Alimi Bowl. Do you think they surpassed that?
Are they a better team than they were like last
year versus the field?
Speaker 4 (39:02):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (39:04):
I definitely think they're a better team than they were
last year.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
I think they're a more complete team than they were
last year.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
I think I think they played cleaner football than they
did last year.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
And that's objective data. That's not the quarter.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
Where will they be at the end of the season,
that is that is the question. Part of what hurt
them last year was they lost back to back games.
And it's not about it's it's it's about when you lose.
And if you lose, especially back to back fashion, then
when you lose the second time, all anyone remembers is, well,
they already lost last week and now they're losing again,
(39:36):
and that compounds and.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
That hurts you.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
I don't see them losing back to back games because
I think even if you lose to Texas Tech, I
don't think you're losing to TCU. Now you could lose
to Cincinnati that that is possible.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
It's on the table.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
I mean, I think thirteen is probably close if you're
I think thirteen to me is like.
Speaker 4 (39:57):
I don't know how you look at it, ceiling or floor,
like that's the floor.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
The worst option I think is thirteen again, but I
think your ceiling is maybe higher maybe you get into
the eight than nine.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
I know I think it was.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
Heather Dnich has them as the seven seed right now
headed to the college football playoffs. I think that's certainly
possible if they win the Big Twelve championship and make
the playoffs, Like where does.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
The committee put them then?
Speaker 1 (40:22):
And and that I'm them not sure as of today,
though I think they're in a good spot. If I
had to nitpick, though, I think they're better than Miami.
So when we're talking about the A people and then
being ranked at ten with Miami, I think they're better
than Miami.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
And I also to Martin's.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
Point about what RG three said is you should get
credit for being undefeated because that is extremely difficult to
do BYU Georgia.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
Tech, anm Indiana, Ohio State.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
Those are the guys in the top fifteen who are
undefeated right now, so you should get credit for that.
Speaker 4 (40:58):
Miami had a bad loss.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
Again it's a bad team where they looked bad against Louisville.
Speaker 4 (41:03):
Carson back through three interceptions.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Vanderbilt has good wins, so like I don't want to
take it from them, there's a lot of people who
have really good wins in this top ten so I'm
not super upset about it, but I do feel pretty
passionately the b or you should be higher than Miami.
Speaker 6 (41:18):
Ceiling been is six floors thirteen.
Speaker 5 (41:22):
The reason why I go to high they can get
to six you win the Big Title game, and you know,
depending how it falls, because some of these other SEC
teams are gonna have to play each other, and if
you win your conference championship game, you're gonna jump up
because they won't play. They'll only jump up one spot, right,
But I think when the College Football Playoff Committe comes
out with it Bay you again will be somewhere between
the seven to ninth. So I'm gonna go ceiling is six.
(41:44):
I don't think they'll get higher than that, but I
think the floor is thirteen. The reason why I say
that this is what it comes down to. Are they
an undefeated or one loss team going into the title game? Right,
I said, I think they'll be eleven to one. Now
you lose two games, you're out. You're at thirteen. You're
gonna be sitting on the outside. Look and then unfortunately
that's just how it goes. They're not gonna put a
two loss Big twelve team into Martin Kelly's point. Over
(42:04):
a two loss SEC team, it will not happen. Over
a two loss big team team. It will not happen.
Even if they have a better strength to schedule, they
will not do it. Human nature, the committee won't. They're
gonna falter. They're gonna be like, I can't do that.
But if you're a defeated going into the title game
and you lose that game, you have a shot in
my opinion, because I think a one lost BAU team,
(42:26):
if your only loss was that the conference championship will
devote should go it should vote more and hold more
weight and not kicking you out.
Speaker 4 (42:35):
It depends.
Speaker 6 (42:36):
Remember that happened to what SMU last year? Right, they
were undefeated.
Speaker 5 (42:39):
Man, they got the one loss in the conference championship game,
and then what happened?
Speaker 4 (42:43):
They still were in at number twelve.
Speaker 5 (42:45):
So based off of that date, on what I've seen,
that's what I'm gonna go with in that regard six
and thirteen.
Speaker 3 (42:51):
You know what Bau's send a chance of winning a
national championship is this year two point make the national
championship seven percent. Playoff chance right now is seventy percent. Yeah,
the way that they're playing right now when the conference
is only at thirty nine point one, but it is
(43:13):
the highest of any Big twelve team.
Speaker 4 (43:15):
Yes, yes, that is true.
Speaker 3 (43:17):
They're projected to end the season eleven and and and
two is what they haven't at right now. Eleven and
one point seven losses is the analytic for per ESPN
College Football Power Index. I believe they actually the AP
poll right now has BYU wear they're probably gonna end
up at the end of the season. I feel like
buy is a top ten team in college football. They're
(43:40):
right at the cusp of being better than that. I
want to believe that they have the dogs, they have
the horses to make not only the College Football Playoff,
or not only to win a Big twelve championship or
at least get to the Big Towal Championship, but enter
into the COLLG Football Playoff and have a game in
the biggest stage in college football, you know, in the
(44:03):
college football world. I think at the end of the year,
as I look at the talent, I look at the coaching,
I looked at the resources, I look at the abilities
of this team.
Speaker 4 (44:12):
Like to me, it's.
Speaker 3 (44:13):
There's there's no doubt that they they should be a
top ten team at the end of the year.
Speaker 4 (44:19):
They really should be.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
They have true complimentary football, they're stout in the run game.
Look at the weaknesses that they that have been exposed
to a degree in in the games in these eight games.
What would we say are the weaknesses. I would say
the outside run game. When we're not fully healthy, When
(44:41):
Jack Kelly and Isaiah Glaster are not fully healthy, and
we have a stout defensive front, but we don't have
like a like super long athletic defensive front that runs
sidelin the sideline, we can get out flanked.
Speaker 4 (44:57):
Does that make sense?
Speaker 6 (44:57):
Absolutely?
Speaker 4 (44:58):
We can day it off flight.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
And then when we are when we do get exposed
in man, it's typically because either we don't have a
true coverage nickel, we don't have a true coverage strong safety.
Speaker 6 (45:14):
That's what they picked on. That's what they picked on
a film.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
So like you have to be judicious about how you
employ your man coverage. Maybe Jonathan eBay gets back, Tommy
Prass's could get back and be at that nickel spot.
I'd rather have him at free safety. I think he's
good at nickel. I don't think that's his true position.
Now give them another year of running like you gotta run.
He played free safety all of his high school career
(45:38):
and then literally worked with Rob Daniel for one offseason
and that he became the starter at nickel. So he
was the best coverage free safety, our best coverage safety,
and he was better than all the guys that you
had in that nickel room. Okay, So I mean like that,
it tells you kind of his his trajectory and his
potential there.
Speaker 4 (45:58):
But I still think he's a free safety. He's gonna
ball out it.
Speaker 3 (45:59):
For safety, you may want to add more depth there,
especially if Jonathan Iveay gets back, if Tavian Beasley's you know,
getting better, you know, I.
Speaker 6 (46:07):
Don't know, but yeah, yeah, we'll.
Speaker 3 (46:09):
See kind how that plays out. But that's the defensive weakness. Offensively,
what are our weaknesses? I would say, like, you know,
you're still having the scheme guys open maybe a little
bit in the past game. You'd like to see more
dominant one on one victories, but like we still got
guys that can win one on want like Chase and Parker,
(46:32):
and I.
Speaker 4 (46:33):
Still think Cody can win in space.
Speaker 3 (46:36):
LJ needs to be healthy, and we may I think
Preston needs to step up Joe Vesen needs to step up.
Speaker 4 (46:43):
Logan pay needs to step like.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
We gotta find some sort of a duo outside of Bear.
Speaker 4 (46:48):
I think to enter into.
Speaker 3 (46:50):
Like a run in the College Football Playoff and a
win in a Big twelve championship, and even to get
maybe to the Big twel Championship can be why you
get to the Big twelve Championship game without having a
true RB two with what we have on the schedule left, Yeah,
maybe it's gonna be closed.
Speaker 6 (47:08):
The possibility gonna be tough.
Speaker 3 (47:11):
The Red Raiders are tough man, TCU's tough. Cincinnati is
a good team, and UCF is a better team than advertise.
Speaker 5 (47:18):
Well, I'll go this. I'll go what I I told
Bred and Bird agrees with me. I'll stand by this.
I think you get TCU at home. I think you
get UCFO home because those are homes. Probably will be
nine games under Lavelle. I think you'll get those at home.
You gotta protect home field, right. I say you needed
to get two out of three out of Iowa, stay,
Texas Tech and Cincinnati. You get two out of three
(47:39):
of those. Ben, you beat TCU, you beat UCF, You're
in and the title game. Boy, the numbers fall, you
are whether you lose to the Texas Tech, whether you
lose to Cincinnati, you're in the title game because of that,
because you would only have one loss and you'd be
the number two team. So I look at it like,
because you'd own the tie break either over Cincinnati if
that regard, if you were to lose the Red Raiders.
So you gotta either beat Texas Tech and or Cincinnati
(48:01):
to book that victory and the other two games not easy,
but I think you get those because those are at
home and out on the road.
Speaker 3 (48:06):
Yeah, Like we had a good team last year, Are
we marginally better than that team from a year ago?
Speaker 4 (48:13):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (48:13):
Yes, yes, yes, which is awesome. I mean I didn't
expect that.
Speaker 4 (48:17):
I didn't.
Speaker 6 (48:17):
So if you punch the mount, you can punch right back.
It's not like you get a knockdown blow.
Speaker 3 (48:21):
Are we like like once after marginal like moderately better,
Like where we're a top five team. I don't know.
I'm not there yet. I'm not there that the top
five team, but like I think we're a top ten team.
I think we're to Yeah, Like I think you're going
head to head against Miami, I think you can win
(48:41):
that game. I agree with you go blow for blow
with like a Miami. I think you can go blow
for like a Vanderbilt. I think you go blow to
blow with a blow for blow with with some of
these teams that are kind of like right there seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen,
like you're right there, and then you have like that
upper echelon that's like kN b au beat or j Alabama.
Speaker 6 (49:01):
I think I think it could be George. I don't
think it could be Alabama.
Speaker 3 (49:04):
Yeah, and you know what I mean, like maybe right like,
I think they can beat Organ.
Speaker 5 (49:08):
I think Orgon can be I think Organ can be
had with this team this year that they have.
Speaker 4 (49:12):
I think they can Ohio States. Problem is their defense
is unreal.
Speaker 3 (49:15):
The offense is, but it's not.
Speaker 6 (49:20):
They're playing.
Speaker 4 (49:22):
Let's say this can be what you beat Notre Dame.
I think so. I think that they match up wel
versus No.
Speaker 1 (49:28):
If you can slow down Jeremiah Love, I think you
can win that, I think. But that is a match
look can can b Why you beat Notre Dame?
Speaker 4 (49:36):
Do you think? Martin Kelly, I know you're a you're
a You're a.
Speaker 7 (49:39):
I'm a not Dame listen to I'm I'm gonna I'm
gonna dive this into half and half. Okay, I'll be objective. Okay,
b y U's defense is good enough to compete against
Notre dames offense. I agree the past defense that b
yu has would be able to contain Notre Dames offense.
Speaker 1 (49:56):
C J.
Speaker 7 (49:57):
Carr is phenomenal with the passing He's gotten better at
every single week.
Speaker 4 (50:00):
I believe that.
Speaker 7 (50:01):
But there's no way BYU's run defense because stop Jeremiah
Smith and Jardim Price. I believe love would run all
over Byu. Could you guys contain car and put them
in a situation where Notre Dame has to rely on
a lot of run to get their points. Absolutely, Okay,
Miami did that and Texas A and m did that,
(50:23):
and that's why we were zero win two after two weeks.
But to flip that, could Notre Dame's defense create pressure
and chaos to BYU's offense, I believe.
Speaker 4 (50:32):
So we have.
Speaker 7 (50:33):
Faced out Yeah, we have faced some really good players
this year. Plus we faced BYU who had a mobile quarterback.
Mason is not bear Backmarert. But Mason has the ability
to escape the pocket and they played an option option
offense that week.
Speaker 4 (50:47):
And we faced Perdue.
Speaker 7 (50:49):
They're not a really great team, but they also had
an option style offense. We faced those two teams and
we contained them pretty well. I do believe it would
be a close game. I'm not gonna say Notre Dame
wins by two touchdowns or three touchdowns, but I'll take
Notre Dame in like a thirty four to thirty one
or thirty one to like twenty seven type game I
will take. I will still take Notre Dame, but it
is it is a fifty to fifty game in my eyes.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
Yeah, that's kind of what I'm doing. Match up very well,
and I actually think Notre Dame is a top ten
team as well, like they've had that's what that says.
Speaker 4 (51:19):
Difficult schedule and that's what I mean.
Speaker 3 (51:22):
That's like, okay BYU and in Notre Dame historically, right,
sometimes they met seven seven family in the modern era,
we'll just can take it like, you know, well, it's
actually I think it's a little bit more than that.
It's actually a little bit more than I think they've
they nine, So two and seven all time for ninety
(51:42):
two makes sense. So but boy was in a little
bit in a rebuild mode.
Speaker 4 (51:47):
In ninety two and ninety three they lost.
Speaker 3 (51:49):
So from ninety four to present, they're they're two and five,
I believe. So ninety four Bay, you got to win
twenty one fourteen. I'll just give you a little bit
of history in the modern era. Fourteen in South Bend, Okay,
two thousand and three BYU and Notre Dame. Notre Dame
got to win in South Bend thirty three to fourteen. Okay,
(52:10):
two thousand and four, b why you got to win
at home twenty to seventeen. So one score game two
thousand and five forty nine to twenty three. Notre Dame
got the win in South Bend, so pretty dominant victory.
Speaker 4 (52:22):
That was one of the best Notre Dame teams. They
had Brady.
Speaker 3 (52:26):
Quinn, Jes Maurice stoveall really good offense. Twenty twelve, that
was the That was the national championship. Notre Dame team
yet lost Alabama was a blowout they got they got
beat up at the Man Ti Tao by you lost
seventeen to fourteen on the road. That was an eight
(52:50):
win BAU football team. Nelson too, that was Riley Nelson
that year and we missed like we missed like point
blank field.
Speaker 4 (52:58):
Goal that game too because being an injured h.
Speaker 3 (53:01):
Field goal kicker twenty thirteen, twenty three to thirteen, b Way,
you lost in South Bend, So you know, ten points score.
Speaker 4 (53:08):
Like, all these games.
Speaker 3 (53:09):
Are competitive, even the one in Vegas twenty eight to
twenty It was a competitive game.
Speaker 4 (53:12):
B Way.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
You was driving on the last yea and Notre Dame
stopped and they stopped them on like the thirty five
they had to score a touchdown twenty eight twenty.
Speaker 4 (53:20):
So these have all been competitive games.
Speaker 3 (53:22):
So BYU is in many ways same similar in physicality
and talent to that of Notre Dame in many ways,
and they've always been competitive. So I think it would
be a kind of a duked out kind of slug
fest between these two. And I put I would put
by I like, would Bay you be a favorite.
Speaker 4 (53:43):
Going into that game?
Speaker 8 (53:43):
No?
Speaker 3 (53:44):
Six and a half, I know, but it would probably
be a one score score game.
Speaker 6 (53:48):
Absolutely, I'm taking away And they.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
Could go either way, especially if BYU brings complimentary football,
finds a way to create turnovers on special teams.
Speaker 4 (53:55):
Right Notre Dames.
Speaker 3 (53:57):
Uh, this is the difference here Notre Dames offense is
very good. They're right fourth per sp plus their defense
is twenty second. But check us out special teams fifty first.
Bay is gonna have a competitive vantage in every single
game do to special teams. This is something that Vegas
doesn't account for. This is something that no other really
prognosticator will account for. Right you know what I mean,
(54:18):
Like no one's We always heavily weigh our metrics to
offensive defense, never to the special teams unit. And that's
the difference with BYU. I think the last few seasons
under k POP, I really believe it. How many turnoves
have created, how many touchdowns have we created through special teams?
It's an absurd number. I should probably put those data
(54:38):
sets anyway. Chime in on the question of the day.
What do you make of it? Where do you put.
Speaker 4 (54:44):
BYU as far as the true ranking?
