Speaker 1 (00:00):
I mean, it's we it's always been the same playbook,

(00:03):
same plays, and I think it's just I think he
felt confident this week, and it was.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
It was awesome to see Bear.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
I mean, he threw an interception and the way he
handled it was awesome too. He said, my bad brushed
it to the side and just kept kept slinging it.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Said, my bad brushed it to the side. That's pretty
much ut Bear is. When they don't convert the third down.
Bear just was literally already running back to the sideline
and strapping his trench chrap running back and like oh wow,
and some excuse me. People might think, oh man, he's upset,
Not really upset, He's just like all right whatever. I mean,
can't complain about it if there's not going to be
a flag, extend the driver that like, all right to
the tablet next play. We have some guys like that

(00:39):
in that regard. So yeah, it's been the same playbook.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
It.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Rod's not gonna show his full hand right when you're
only throwing the four guys. And that's because no one's
forts you to do anything differently. There's no point to show everything.
Right now. They showed a few different things to have
been showing their screen to Parker. They showed the screen
to Carson Ryan, right, and what happened? You know, they
went and they took it. Parker took one to the house.

Speaker 5 (01:01):
I thought this question was one of the most interesting
ones that we got from anything in the postgame pressers.
We've heard people mention it, and I'd never been sure
how much I bought it. Jared Bledsoe said it a
number of times that he didn't feel like the offense
had been fully opened up. And it's easy to hear
that and say, yeah, that that could be coach talk

(01:24):
for our offense. Just isn't that dynamic. It's not that explosive.
They've done all they can do. But it's very clear,
given this game, given what Parker has said, given what
other players said in the postgame pressers, the offense has
not shown us everything. We haven't seen the full movie yet,
and when we see it, man, are we gonna love it.

(01:44):
We only got a trailer at West Virginia and it
was pretty great. Then imagine what it's gonna look like
when we get to see the rest of that movie.
One hundred percent and the rest of the movie is pending.
It's loading.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
That's right, so just wait on it, on it, wait
on it. Okay, let's jump to number three. Parker.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Were you surprised how open you were on that touchdown
on Friday?

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, I mean we run it.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
We run it in practice and the d R defense
season all the time, so it's never been that open.
And when I caught it and turned and wail and
kicked the guy out and I'm like, oh my gosh,
there's no one there, and Bruce and whoever else was downfilled,
it was all I had to do was run, So
it was it was awesome.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
That's the best part about practice, right, because you practice
it for moments like that of oh wait, yeah, I
forgot about that. And in the minute he saw he
kicked the Niger. He did not wait one second. The
minute he saw daylight, he took off. But that's why
you play against a good defense, because maybe when you
have a bust of coverage or a secondary does not
good or people out of position, you confuse him. You're
able to go to the house. So shout out to
Parker and getting there. Number four, you got a rushing

(02:40):
touchdown as well. Does that add to your versatility at all?

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Yeah? I mean I've always wanted to get one.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
I was sad when the Stanford one got called back,
but it was good to get one.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Now I was sad. I hope teamates bottom Ice scream.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
I hope they got milkshakes like barre Bachma because uh,
the rest shit actually bought shakes for the entire team,
because that wasn't my old Brett can and need. I
just feel bad for the kid. I'm like, that wasn't
a hold. I go back and look at the video.
I'm like, what are you looking at? And I've asked
other officials, like I've asked people at high school games
at that level, have familym was a ref college, or

(03:15):
they're trying to get into a little conference.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
They're like, yeah, that's not a hold. So I don't
I don't know what to say about that play.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Yeah, we've talked about before Parker Kingston this idea of
being a gadget guy, and I think when people hold
you to the standard that you're only a gadget guy,
it can.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
Feel like an insula.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
But when I talk about Parker Kingston as a gadget guy,
to me, that's a compliment.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
I know Parker Kingson is a wide receiver.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
I know he can cook people downfield, but what I
also know is there's not that many receivers who can
do everything that Parker can do, that can get involved
in handoffs, that can get involved passing the game. Yes,
Parker is a gadget guy and he should be proud
of it, but that's not the only thing that he is.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
So it was cool to see it again.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
Kind of fulfilling the end of that story after we
saw it and got called back against Stanford.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
As you mentioned, we've now tied up the ball on
that one.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
But I don't think that's gonna be the last time
we see Parker Kingston score an unconventional touchdown this season.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yeah, I don't think that's the only way you see
him score a touchdown. I mean he's thrown for one,
call for one, ran for one return one. I mean
he can do it all. You scored it every single
way in college football and manly, you know, and Minnie
Taysom Hill, not Taysom as in the build, but as
he can do everything in that regards trut out to
the Taysom Hill. I'm being able to throw a pass

(04:40):
this past week at number five p K. You see
him locked in what was working for you right now?

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Yeah, No, it means a lot to me.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
As some of you probably know, I wasn't able to
play practice all fall camp and started practicing first first
game week, so it was hard for me to get
my confidence in those first two games, and I felt
like I've built off of ECU and Colorado and I
finally felt like I was back to my normal self
again this week.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
So for me, I asked that question Brett because I
was truly intrigued, right I knew that he didn't start
the season the way he wanted to, And he says, yeah,
the first day I got there, I got hurt, And
that sucks. Veteran guy leader in the room, expected to
have this big year to get hurt and then you're
not able to practice really to the game week. That
sucks as you spend three weeks on the bench doing that,

(05:27):
getting your legs, getting your lungs back under you. And
he wasn't out of shape, but trying to get caught
up to speed, and then you have two fumbles and
it's unfortunately you get benched, and now he's five games.
They're like, all right, that's probably the practice the three
week practices that he would have had.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
He's finally back caught up to speed, so happy for him.

Speaker 5 (05:42):
Yeah, And Klane Sataki added to that seconded that today
in his media availability, saying, Parker, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
I mean it's we It's always been the same playbook,

Speaker 5 (11:32):
Yeah, And Kline Sataki added to that seconded that today
in his media failability, saying Parker is finally doing what
we know he can do. He's finally back. We didn't
know that Parker wasn't fully good to go during fall camp.
We'd heard whispers, but we didn't know that's for sure
to be true. So for Parker to say that gives

(11:52):
a lot of context. Yeah, because again there were idiots
like me who said, hey, everything from Parker in these
first couple of games, should I be concerned?

Speaker 4 (12:01):
Well, no, because he wasn't fully healthy. So it's not
fair to hold him to that standard.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
When he's been fully healthy, when he's been fully in
his bag, he has a career day and he's scary when.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
He's in his back. He's in his back, am my bag?

Speaker 5 (12:14):
Now in my bag?

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Now I got.

Speaker 6 (12:18):
Back.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Speaking of his back, let's get back to the question
number six, PK, why don't you tell us the.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
Celebration in the locker room felt more muted this week
the last week. Why was that?

Speaker 2 (12:30):
No, every I mean, every win is a tough win.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
In the Big twelve, every team is good, So I
think it's just because we know that we could have
played better. We made some mistakes, had some costly penalties
in the red zone when we could have scored, and
I think we're just upset about those stupid mistakes that
we had and we're going to clean him up and
do better against Arizona.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
Maybe it's just me, but I can't remember who asked
this question, but I'm over here, like you were paying
attention to the being muted. I mean to me, it
sounds the same every week because they played a big speaker,
m like it's always shaking in the postgame. I I
o ay rocking in there. Maybe sometimes you pay attention
more than others, but I never find that they're muted.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
But maybe that's just me.

Speaker 5 (13:15):
I do think it's weird to compare the celebration of
one game against THEE like how your guys celebrate is
probably one of the lowest things on the pole of
things that matter to me. Yes, I don't really care
unless it's like superseded to a point where it's like
extra and you're saying things you don't need to when
you're on Instagram Live, like doing things you shouldn't be doing.

(13:38):
That's the only time that I care about how the
team is celebrating. Outside of extreme measures, I don't really
care because also, I'm not in the locker room.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
I'm not in the huddle. I don't know what the
vibe is like.

Speaker 5 (13:50):
I know what the vibe is like in the arena,
in the press box, I don't know what the vibe
is like down there on the field. So who am
I to tell them, Hey, Parker, why don't you pick
your head up and stop being so down on yourself.
You guys played a great game. I don't know everything.
Maybe they got away with things that they know they
shouldn't have. Maybe they have a really high standard and
they feel like, man, we should have busted the door open.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
We never should have turned the football over. We never
should have given the defense points by doing that.

Speaker 5 (14:14):
I don't know, So who am I to tell them
how they should celebrate or compare the celebration of one
game at home where you gave a too few too
many points to last week away when you beat a
team in a scary scenario, final drive situation.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
I just don't know that that's really You're gonna look
at it from this standpoint too. Next week, and when
I mean next week, not the Zuger verse. On the
next week they beat Utah, the celebration and you feel
is going to go hard, right, extremely hard. You have
to as a media member to stand that. Okay, if
they're muted at West Virginia, ye ash you to care
business bad football team, okay, cool? Like Colorado, maybe that

(14:54):
game was chippy because don't see it maybe and not
just you don't see it, and again maybe you don't
see everything all.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
So Colorado they're gonna talk, Yeah, a little.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Bit more chivvy. So guess what they celebrate, Yeah, stop
on a buffs, stop on the buffs. Not saying that's
what they're doing, but it might feel that way to them.
And then West Virginia's eh, it's West Virginia country.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
It's not that personal person. It's much more personal seam
that you played nine months ago.

Speaker 5 (15:18):
A lot of talking the trophy winner and a guy
who's projected first round pick. I also think I don't
know if they were on Instagram Live this week during
their celebration.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
I don't think that they were.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
And maybe the person who asked this is saying, oh, well,
because they because they weren't on Instagram Live. Therefore the
celebration wasn't as big as it was last week. Maybe
they went on Instagram Live last week and maybe they
made the decision, hey, guys celebrating school, we don't need
to post and do this, because the first thing I
thought when I heard Instagram Live was remember when ab
used to do that on the Steelers and Jujusmi Schuster

(15:54):
and like, so I just have a bad connotation on people.
So maybe the conversation and again we don't know where,
We don't know, and it doesn't matter because they can
celebrate whatever they want. But maybe their thought process was, hey,
we can celebrate however we need to, and we should
because that's what chase it. But maybe they also figured,
we don't need to get on Instagram Live and everybody
else we need to lose for us, we.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Don't need to do we need to do this for everybody,
and indeed they don't, but we do need to do
Number seven. What was Bear's demeanor after his turnovers?

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Yeah? No, I think, I think it's good to have
some adversity to overcome it.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
And he I mean, he's a baller and he the
way he runs, the way he throws, how smart he is.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
It's been awesome to watch him.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
Even Chase said it, by the way, stop talking about it.
Don't have to think about it anymore. Yeah, you know,
YadA YadA YadA. Keep it pushing. That's what number eight
is gonna talk about. We don't have to discuss it anymore.
Bear doesn't sell on it too much as from everything
that we don't Number eight.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Yeah, no, he's just saying my bad, my bad, Like
let's forget about and keep going. He pushed it to
the side and he just kept playing like his normal self.
So it was awesome to see, especially as a freshman.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
Yeah, got it out the way, push it to the side, right,
And that's the biggest thing.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
That's who Bear is. So we don't have to tell
them anymore. He shouldn't made it. We know what he
did right, We know what he did wrong. Bear knows that,
and I think that's the biggest thing. Again, you throw
the fumble first in a sheception happens, Okay, cool, I
can relax yeah, you have the fumble. Yeah, that was
a bad decision. Throws the thirty five yard dart to Parker.
That tells me every day.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
I need to know every single one of us has
gone to work and you're already having a rough day,
and then you get there and you make a mistake
with you like the first thirty minutes you're sitting in
a meeting, you say something maybe you shouldn't, and you're
dogging on yourself, saying, oh my gosh, today's gonna be
a horrible day at work because it was already.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
A bad day.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
Now I've screwed up in the office, and now I
don't know what I'm gonna do. It's so easy to
let that derail your day, especially when that day includes
sixty thousand people watching you in the stands and a
million more watching you on television, and you're a true freshman,
you have high expectations. It's so easy for Bear to
let that derail the rest of his game, throw him off,

(17:58):
and then he doesn't play like himself.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
Maybe he never gets over it.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
I do think we are overlooking the fact that at
despite two turnovers, Bear still went and balled out and
didn't think about it to quote Ted last, So be
like a goldfish. You don't remember it. You just keep
on going. It's not about how many times you get
knocked down. It's about how many times you get back up.
And Bear got up big after both.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Of those turnovers he did. He didn't stay down. You
gotta get up. You gotta keep pushing.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
So PK speaking of that, you got back down, you
got down, you got back up, you kept pushing.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
And what is it like, Kevin, a guy like Chase
to line up with you.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
That's my roommate, that's my best friend on the team.
So it's it was awesome to be able to go
over one hundred yards with him, and it's just we
we grind film together. We were always talking about it's
gonna be sick when we get one hundred yards together
in one game, and it finally happened.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
And now we're just gonna keep building off that.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
Keep building us my roommate, us, my best friend. You
hear the relationship you hit a love and the voice
they also rum with tracing Borgae, so you hear all
of that. But even be in the room mate, sometimes
your best friend Brud and I attack. You gotta give
somebody a hard time when they make mistakes, when they
don't pay attention on radio and say ne fi and
things like that, you gotta give them a hard time, right,
you try to save your butt. So did you give

(19:15):
Chase any grief for not scoring the touchdown after that
long catch?

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Yeah? I did.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
I he came off the field, He's like, I wish
I had your speed. I was like, I know, you
gott unhooked the trailer, but it was I mean, he
probably got tired, but it was sweet.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
He should have.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
He should have instead of stiff arm just kept running
and probably was scored.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
But the guy you here laughing in the back, if
you ever want to know that there's a black guy
around listening to the laugh that was definitely me in
the back. I was laughing because you never get a genuine,
honest answer that that, obviously, So that's why I was
cracking up because I was like, wait a second. He says,
He's like, man, I wish i'd just be Yeah. I know,
you gotta hook the trailer straight up till this day,
but you gotta have some funny moments. So shout out

(19:56):
to Pek won't being honest and tell us but that
was Parker Kingston was giving a little player profile. Brought

Speaker 3 (21:28):
Let's get into some Chase Roberts down, Chase Roberts also
just to media, we just finished up with Parker Kinston's
down telling Chase he needs took the trailer, which is crazy.
I think we're gonna ask Chase about that question too.
About Hey, your roommate says you need to unhook the trailer. Brother,
go ahead and do that all right? Number one, how
does it feel to have a career night Chase?

Speaker 7 (21:47):
It feels great, especially to get those deep balls with Bear.
I think we've been waiting for a couple of games
to get those, and we manifested it, you know, and
then the first play we knew it was gonna happen
and we connected and then just kept rolling rest of
the game. So I think it's only going to get
better from from here, and we're going to start really
throwing the ball.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
And it's been fun.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Bears.

Speaker 7 (22:08):
Bear's looking awesome, and you know, offensive line did great
and then we really came together. So just gotta limit
those dumb mistakes that we made. And we're a great offense.

Speaker 4 (22:18):
You are a great offense.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Chase b Yu is throwing a deep balls first three
fifty game for the freshman in his career. Tap ahead
at the head the top of the ndred percent, he said, hey,
let me have it. Bear says, okay, how about a
forty seven yard bomb and open up to play.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
I said it and that wasn't play action, but we
all were right. I just want to give a shout out.
Ap was right.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
T Wall got his first pick. Bear did turn the
ball over once. As he did, we didn't think the
second one would happen. I did think he'd be the
PK would be the X factor. You said they score
at least twenty points. They scored twenty four, So uh yeah,
we know ball a little bit, just just a little bit.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Not as well as Chase.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
They cut the first part out. I thought they'd leave
it in before the interview.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
He was said.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
He roommate says he need to unhook the trailer, and
he says, yes, it did happen, So that did occur.
Little funny roommate action. Gotta get gotta tease your friends sometimes,
gotta tease him. Number two, Chase, are you surprised when
teams like West Virginia and Colorado leave you in single coverage?

Speaker 7 (23:10):
I just again, I just go out there and go play,
and I think when they do that, I want to
make place right and then hopefully keep connecting with Bear
and then help other people get open and help the
run game open up. And so I'm just gonna do
my thing and go make plays and hopefully we can
win a game. And that's that's what it's all about.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
So all right, enough, It's been asked three times they
asked it for East Carolina to have asked it. In
the post game of Colorado, they asked it now Westerner,
you're trying to get Chase caught up and ask them,
and I get it. What you want him to say is, yes,
I'm surprised if they leave me. Guess what, we all
know that they shouldn't.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
He knows that.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
Every time he says that, he laughs or chuckles. You
know he knows that, but he's not gonna say it.
He's not gonna say it. It's Chase Roberts. It's not
I'm sorry. He's not Tommy Priz and Trey Alexander. They
might not give you the honest answer for in that regard,
like come on, and that's no shot in trades. It's personality.
Chase just I'm just gonna go play my game, like,
come on, you know who it is, like you gotta know.

(24:10):
And if you're gonna ask it again, I say, that's
the one on one question. In that regard, I would
request Chase one on one and ask him why is
it not a good idea to leave you one on one? Well,
you see, the proof is in the pudding. You might
get more of your answer face to face than in
the group setting. That's what Mama will say. You want
to get the lady, get her away, from her friends,
get the FaceTime action. She gonna act different when she

(24:33):
with her friends and in front of people, but when
she by herself she not that way.

Speaker 4 (24:37):
Trust me. Listen to her brother think, I know a
little bit got the ring on the left hand, thinking, no,
it just a tad bit.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
Tad bit you know had you know, had a nice
dating pool package follow the teachings of what you know.
Elder Oakes and Ballard said, if you only had twenty people,
you talk to twenty new people every day, your teaching
pool will never be quite applied to the same laws
to dating. If I talked to twenty new girls at
b YU every day, I always had some of the
going to day with That's why I went on a
lot of days, lost a lot of money, but eventually

(25:03):
found the right one. That's my tidbit, my tangent, my
dating advice for the day. Number three, Chase, this is
the most yards in a game since you joined the
Big twelve. Does that make a statements for the rest
of the league at all?

Speaker 7 (25:17):
Yeah, we're just figuring things out with a new quarterback,
with a new with a lot of new players, and
that's what happens. You know, you start throwing the ball
a little more every game, and then this game it
kind of blew up, and I think, now we're a
big threat in the past game and team's got to
prepare for that. So and that's when we canna open
the box up for LJ and for our running backs.
And I think we're just a dangerous offense that it's

(25:38):
hard to prepare for. And as we again limit those
mistakes of stupid fumbles, and you know what happens, right,
But as we as we do that, then we're just
to create a great offense and our defense, you know,
our defense does their things. So we're a dangerous team.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
Stupid fumbles so stupid. Why stupid fumbles? Why does Perry
have to hit the ball in beer? Just kidding?

Speaker 3 (25:58):
Fumbles are stupid, though nobody happens as a part of
the game. Interceptions are better than fumbles. I hate to
say people like Ron, why are you condoning turnovers? Look
if again, throwing the ball to them at their own
twenty is different than fumbling on your.

Speaker 4 (26:10):
Own nine or two.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
You can see you don't spot them a touchdown in
the fourteen points they have to go to the whole field.
I think we all agree with that. No, I agree
with Chase. You have to plan for them now in
the past game. Yes, it does matter. Look at I
mentioned in our earlier segment in the second second hour
first segment about in a big Towe sething. These guys
can throw Barren Morgan can light it up. Yes, you
need to be able to make people respect shooting. Now

(26:34):
regard the rest of the Big Twelve's got dudes. So
now you got dudes. Chase Roberts was ranked preseason by
the All Big Twelve. You gotta showcase that you gotta
let people know on tables. Jen, Okay, if we don't
guard you Arizona, you tall guess what he's gonna go
hit his head on the goal post. One hundred percent.
So I don't agree more with Chase than I have
ever I think in this moment. Yes, you did put
the rest of the legal notice elestional because people are like, oh, Bart,

(26:56):
he can't throw the ball down the field.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
Well now they can. They don't just use it.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
J Martin, you gotta worry about the box and now
you gotta worry about them one on one.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
Good luck yep one number four. Did you see anything in.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
Film this week that was able to help you produce
those downfield completions at all. Do you see anything in
film this week to produce those downfield opportunities?

Speaker 4 (27:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (27:22):
I think honestly, the matchups. We felt like we had
better matchups and we could go make plays and to
throw it up, and then they actually didn't do a
lot of what we thought they were gonna do. So
really it just came down to the matchups and Bear
trusted us and we threw it threw it up and
made some great great made some great plays, and offense
also offensive line did their job, so it was great.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
And one of the segments that they'd be having you
just Got Molts to Braddy got Moss first play.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
I didn't watch, Uh, I.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
Don't remember what ESPN calls their NFL pregame show, but
they have that segment with Randy Moss called you Got
Moss and I didn't watch on Sunday morning, But I
really hope that that play made it because that play
was the definition.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
Of you got broke out.

Speaker 3 (28:04):
Most Yeah, let's move on number five. The celebration was
a little more mute the last week.

Speaker 4 (28:10):
Chase. We also asked, as the parker, why do you
think that was No.

Speaker 7 (28:13):
I think we we need to celebrate better. Yeah, I
think that's we want to. I think we won a
great game. We made stupid mistakes and we can learn
from them and that's great. I think hitting adversity is
great for our team, especially early in the season. And
it's only gonna you know, we're only gonna hit more
adversity later we play, uh, these teams coming up, we
go to Arizona, Utah, Texas Tech, there's gonna be a

(28:37):
lot of adversity. So these are great moments for us,
and we need to be more grateful for a win
and you know, being at home in the crowd, and
we're gonna get together on Monday. We're gonna enjoy conference
weekend and then get together on Monday, and then that's
what we're gonna talk about, is being more grateful and
you know, stepping it up in our you know, in
the in the joy that we have winning a game.

(28:57):
I think that's gonna be one of Klanie's messages too.
So we learned a lot this game. It was great
coaching staff did, players did offense, defense all three phases
of the ball. So I think it was a great
game for us going into these tougher games coming up.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Hey, he says you to celebrate better. Maybe he felt
the way. Maybe Parker didn't. Each player is allowed to
feel what they want to feel. On this team, no
one is allowed to Maybe the people know we celebrated enough. No, Yeah,
maybe we need to celebrate better. Maybe when you celebrate
for Utah, you feel it needs to be the energy
every week. Maybe some disagree. It doesn't matter. At the
end of the day, you celebrate. Got to celebrate a win.
It's hard to come by on the big twelve team
is five and number six. Chase Parker said, Bear owned

(29:33):
the miscues. What did you see on those?

Speaker 7 (29:35):
Yeah, and Bear's just the levelheaded dude that's going to
keep playing. I think that's what YU football is is like,
like I said, adversity comes and you're gonna make mistakes.
And as a quarterback, and when we're throwing the ball
this much like it's gonna happen. So I think he
did a great job bouncing back. We had some great
drives after these costly turnovers, and we were able to
keep the score, you know, separated, and we were able

(29:59):
to to pull away. And that just shows Bear's composure
and how awesome he's been for our team.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
He asked composure, no doubt about it whatsoever. Look, he's
gonna have misqu's gonna have that. We don't have to
talk about it. Adversity happens. He's overcoming. People I know
are looking for storylines, maybe because a true freshman hasn't
been this way, but it's college is college athletics these days.
These athletes can do anything, anytime, any place, anywhere. They're
phenomenal on what they do. Moving on, it raned a

(30:25):
little during the game. Did you do anything Chase to
combat that at all?

Speaker 2 (30:30):
It wasn't too bad.

Speaker 7 (30:31):
I think it just sprinkled a little bit. I think
cleat wise, we had to wear our studs and get
a little more thickness in the in the cleats and
stay stay up so not slip as much. But that
was the only change that we made, and we were
still throwing the ball still in our thing, and I
think maybe ball security we need to be a little
a little more emphasis on that when it's a little
more wet and the ball might slip out. So that's

(30:53):
what we're gonna work on going forward.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
We had our studs Benjamin Jake Criddle will love to
hear that no vapors the stud's gotta have.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
Look.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
I know people get mad at me that I bring
this up. I'm gonna keep bringing it up because it
correlates and it helps with football. Rugby correlates with football.
There's a reason why Ben Bowater was one of the
best tacklers since fair Water. You gotta play rugby, learn
out of tackle. That's why I tell all people, hey,
get you kids in rugby, let them play football, but
for the tackling aspect. Because if you tackle the same
way you talking football, you're kicked out of rugby game.
You can't do that. You also knock yourself out. I

(31:21):
know it happened to me in a practice anyway, I
bring that up. Of the study clats that they have
in rugby are phenomenal. You can get a form of
those for football with your screw ins. You just don't
want to be slipping all over it that I bring that.
Of the cleats do matter. Stop trying to look cute,
Stop trying to look sexy. You know why you'll need
The only cute thing you need to know is your
jersey number, and somebody know the back of your name.

(31:43):
When you run into the end zone. That's what needs
to be cute when they watching that as they trying
to track you down. The rest of it, it don't matter.
You don't need the rest of that at all. So
who cares about the cleets and those things in those
regards or if you're gonna look cute, at least get
the right type of cleat that has a screw and
as well, that's my Benjamin J. Criddle, I guess cleat.
You know, analytics are analyzing for the daan. No, Ben

(32:04):
would like to hear that. He would love to hear
that they had screws when when he listens to that, Guys,

Want to get into a little crewit In the Cougars
segment over the weekend, Yes, b YU got a dub
on the gridiron, a fantastic win in Big twelve play
under the heights of Lavell.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
Yes they left points on the grid ard.

Speaker 6 (33:03):
Yes there could have been a better defensive effort with
our backups, but all in all, the win is a
win is a win. It was beautifully ugly in many ways.
But let me tell you what's beautiful. KYU and the
BYU basketball team right now, they continue to just get
dubs in the offseason recruiting dubs and BYU recently, okay,

(33:27):
just a little bit less than forty eight hours ago,
receive the commitment from top juco guard kJ Perry.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
He commits to BYU.

win in the recruiting game. kJ Perry is the number
one junior college player in the country for two four

(34:31):
seven sports. He's a six foot two combo guard from
Citrus College. He will enroll at BYU midyear. He's get
a red shirt in twenty twenty five Okay this season
and make his debut in the twenty twenty six twenty
twenty seven season. As a redshirt sophomore, he will have

(34:51):
three years of eligibility remaining. Perry chose BYU over USC
SMU TC. He also had offers from Kansas, Oregon and
she State, Cincinnati, Texas A and M, and many others.
As a freshman at Citrus, Perry averaged seventeen point five
points per game, two point eight assists, and three rebounds,

(35:13):
while also shooting a very highly effective rate of fifty
percent from the field and thirty five percent from the
three point line. He set school records Okay with forty
eight points in a single game. So this guy is
a bucketeer. He can get to the rim. He's very
dynamic with the ball in his hand. He was originally
a three star twenty twenty four prospect who signed with

(35:36):
cal State Northridge.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
Perry took his talents to the JUCO level, the Jewco route.

Speaker 6 (35:42):
Nothing to be ashamed about that, and he blossomed into
a four star junior college recruit. His game is built
on explosivity. He can get to the rim with ease
and he's got a great first step, He's a strong finisher.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
I think Cougar Nation's gonna love him.

Speaker 6 (36:04):
Perry is expected to compete for a starting job in
that twenty twenty six twenty twenty seven season, especially if
Rob Wright departs for the NBA. Right, I mean, we're
all thinking that Rob Wright is gonna be a one
and done at BYU the Baylor transfer, and he was
impressive at Baylor this past season. There's a whole lot
of weeping, waitaling and national teeth and Waco as Rob

(36:26):
Wright chose the BYU Cougar's via the transfer portal, and
obviously you got to give a big Cougar roar to
Kevin Young and his coaching staff Brandon Dunson. He built
a very good relationship with Perry and sold BYU and

(36:48):
Kevin on the BYU wa the kyu Wa, and I
wrote an article about this after Brandon Dunson was hired.

Speaker 4 (37:02):
One of the the thesis was, you know, it's hard
to tell who the.

Speaker 6 (37:06):
Most valuable assistant coaches because this is a very complimentary staff.

Speaker 4 (37:12):
They're very good at what they do. They have specialists everywhere.

Speaker 6 (37:15):
But I can tell you this much, having Brandon Dunson
make the pitch okay, front facing to kJ Perry and
even Rob Wright on why they should come to BYU.
It takes a guy like Brandon Dunson to make that
pitch yep, it just does okay, And Ronald you can
probably probably speak to this better than I can. I can,

(37:36):
but I've been in a like. I was the minority
for a long time in the defensive back room, and
typically my coach looked a certain way, you know, was
a certain way. My two coaches at BYU, coach Brian Mitchell,
former BYU great play in the NFL. African American not LDS,
High May Hill, African American not LDS. Right, That's what

(37:59):
they were to recruit. That's what they needed to bring
in to BYU to compete at a high level. It's true,
and that's what you need, Brandon Dunn't not only is
African American. It's a double minority pitch. And people need
and their families, the young young the young men in
their families have to feel comfortable that this is the
place for them. And brand is the perfect guy to
make that pitch, one hundred percent of the perfect guy.

(38:20):
I mean, I never have revealed this story.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
I guess now that it's fitting out will because it's
come up and it wasn't a double minority. But I
actually had Jabbari's brother Chris pitch me about BYU. I
wasn't interested in to begin A lot of people might
not know that of like, hey, I don't know if
I should go in this. And then he sat me
down and said, look, this is what is and told me, right,
but you have to have some of the bridge that gap.
That's what I'm getting at the principle of that. Brandon

(38:42):
Dunst is the perfect person who was the first hire.
I go back to that that was the first higher
It was right, and then there's no disrespect like Kevin
Young is though, is that dude? John Lenahan is one
of those dudes. Chris burg is one of those dudes.
But who was the first guy to get added to
the staff. Brandon Dunson is connected along the West Coast
and then the recruiting game like nobody's business. This robust

(39:04):
staff that he has is no doubt phenomenal when you
look at it. They can go literally all over the world,
the global international now and get guys. He has one
of the best staffs in college basketball. If not the
best staff, you hit East Coast, West Coast, Utah, ben right,
you hit Overseas. They have it all in that regard.
So I love what they're doing in that regard. But

(39:26):
Brandon Dunston remind people he was the first tire. When
you have someone that's a double minority, who is African American,
who is Black, who understands what it's like being a
part of this culture, not being getted, who can pitch shows. Guys,
you need people who look like you, sound like you
in the room. I bring this up, you know, and
I hope this comes off the right way. General Conference,
we saw a lot of representation, right. I sent this

(39:47):
to my black friends. We all were talking of like,
we love how the diaspora was really shown at General
Conference over the weekend. You see a bunch of things.
You saw Tracy Browning from New York. You saw Elder
Peter and Johnson from New York. You saw Jamaica State
in Nigeria, you saw Lafaella Louisiana.

Speaker 4 (40:03):
You saw all of it. And you need that type
of person.

Speaker 3 (40:06):
And Brandon Dunston, John Lenhand, Chris Burgess, this entire staff,
you know, they replicate that and they're able to pitch
these guys.

Speaker 6 (40:13):
Yeah, the article, if you guys want to reread it.
BYU Basketball's most valuable addition may not be who you think.
And UH, you know, I highlight the ins and outs
of what I at that time deemed to be maybe
the most underrated and maybe the most valuable addition to
these to this Cougar coaching staff. Check it out and
