Speaker 1 (00:00):
I wonder what coaches are really saying during their press conferences. Well,

A couple of weeks ago, but we just want to
make sure that we give you the best show possible.
What did the coaches have to have to say in
regards to the preparation for the pop Tarts Bowl. What
A kline said, we played that earlier. You know what
did the officials say. You know, they obviously originally wanted
you know, Klinie Sataki and BYU, and they wanted Notre Dame.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
That wasn't the case.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Things happen, things change, and nevertheless, you know, you have
to make sure that you always are prepared and willing
to show up and show out. And BYU is and
Georgia Tech accepted the invitation and they're going to you know,
be playing BYU. Now, that's just what it came down to.
We're broadcasting from our Bandewell Studios. All we asked that
you schedule complementary Q and A with our tax Smart

(01:34):
Wealth advisors. They specialized in working with the credit and
investors and helping them defer in the capital games from
the sale out their business. They also helped the listeners
with ten thirty one real estate change, private investing and
hard asset as well. They can even help you with
retirement plans.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Guys.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
They got these tax smart wealth strategies. That's all a
part of that advanced financial plan that we talk about.
So please talk with our sertify financial planners because you
don't know what you don't know. Schedule that complimentary Q
and A too at Banderwealth, Banderwealth dot com. All right,
just reading between the line segment. It's gonna be brought

my family out, took care of us. The taror on
the car looks wonderful, and he was telling us yesterday
it's not just a tenth. The wife's really gonna love
it when the sun comes because it blocks out that
UV rays and all of the other heat that could
come into the car. And that's great for a little
one who doesn't like to get hot. So scheduled the

(02:31):
appointments today at Utah Protective Films dot Com. The former
BYUI receiver. He's helped the football players, the basketball players.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Let him help you too.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
When you mentioned Benkrut or ESPN, you're gonna get fifteen
percent off your service. It's fifteen percent off any of
the services that they have, and you got no tax
this month. What better opportunity. So it's really like twenty
two to twenty three percent. Get it today at Utah
Protective Films dot Com. All right, we're gonna get into
the sound from Georgia head coach Brian Key. He also
addressed the media early year a couple of weeks ago

(03:01):
in preparation for this BYU.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Versus Georgia Tech game. We're gonna hear his thoughts.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
What did he have to say on BYU and the
Cougars We already played. We're gonna play a sound clip
later for you in the inside of report with him
being down there in Orlando.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
He to tease a little bit.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
He says, b YU should have been one of those
twelve teams, And yeah, that's right, you know what I'm
talking about. He thinks they should have been one of
the twelve teams in the playoffs, but they weren't. That's
just the nature of it. Those things happen. But at
the end of the day, BYU has a great opportunity
to pop touch the bowl is not a consolation prize.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Not a consolation prize. At all.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Know which way about it. I don't care how you
try to toss it up. Stuart Mendel put this out
the other day, that is becoming the most popular bowl
in a most popular non college football playoff BAWL. I
would like to think that that is. That is it
is the most popular bowl already. That's not a college
football playoff bol it already is. I don't think it's becoming.
I think it already is. So we're gonna hear from

(03:59):
him him as I get to sound cued up, but yeah,
what do he have to say? How was his Yellow
Jackets preparing to take on b YU. We're going to
tune in. Now, let's get to it. This is Brent Key,
the head coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, discussing
his acceptance and his team to the Pop Tarts bull.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Let's get to it.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
You're mic for you, and then you'll be able to
ask a question. We'll get as many as we can
in the next fifteen minutes or so, but without further ado.
Coach Key, if you want to kick us off, I
love a statement about the Georgia Tech's upcoming matchup with
the YU and Pop Tarts four, one.

Speaker 5 (04:36):
Of the Bogies the whole time. Now, Excited to be
more of the Pop Tarts Bowl, Excited.

Speaker 6 (04:42):
To make a return back to Orlando.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
We are a lot of great years of my career
and my life.

Speaker 6 (04:51):
My wife in Orlando and got married while we were there,
and I had a lot of great years coaching at
UCF and a lot of great friends down there, and
just a wonderful city.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
So many great things about it.

Speaker 6 (05:02):
It's a game that actually before it was pop parts
and its history of the games that Georgia Tech's played
in the game three times now. It was actually the
first Bowl game that I ever played in as a
player when it was the Carquest Bowl back in nineteen
ninety seven in Miami. It just changed from the Blockbuster
Bowl to the Park West Bowl. So we played West

(05:22):
Virginia in the game, had a really good game and
it really they held us in onto the off season
in the next year.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
But a lot of good memories there.

Speaker 6 (05:30):
Really really excited to play b Why you what a
great team, you know, great coach who's done unbelievable job.
I've only had a pleasure of meeting one time once
or twice and just can't say enough great things about
him and the program, what they've done and the year
they've had. And I think now standing matchup two really
good teams, but also two teams and I think go

(05:53):
about doing things the right way and have new high values,
high character. I want to play with toughness, discipline. So
this should be a really really good football game. Excited
to get into Orlando, get things rolling here.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
All right, that's his open statement. I want to stop
it there. Love that.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
First of all, brin Key, you know, gets a new
five year deal through twenty thirty that was announced to
what about two and a half weeks ago, maybe three
weeks ago at the beginning right after December, So he
gets a five new year Georgia check approved that deal.
So he's gonna be with Georgia Tech for a minute.
Shout out to him on what he's accomplished this season,
hangs King is no quarterback to be taken lightly. They

(06:33):
played Georgia very close. They've had a great season, and
his wife got married in Orlando. People might not know
he has ties to Orlando. When he was at UCF,
he was a tight ends coach O line I believe
coach as well an assistant head coach. I mean even
you know, I think the O C so he had
various roles while he was at UCF, so he's very
familiar with Orlando. And then he gave some history of
Georgia chech. It's the third time that they're going to

(06:55):
play in this particular ball game. It was changed to
the you know, the Carquest Bowl in nineteen ninety seven,
so he's played in this bowl game and coaching it,
so he knows he knows Orlando in this bowl very well.
So that's why I think this is going to be
a very close ballgame. I'll give you guys my guess,
my score prediction and thinks. Now since we'll be doing
a replay show on Friday, just to remind you the

(07:15):
fans of that, and there tomorrow we're going to be
doing national But I think BYU wins his game. BYU
wins this game a close ball game. I mean, look,
I think the highest it could be is a thirty
four to twenty four BYU. But with no LJ, that's
a lot. So I'm gonna go thirty one twenty four BYU.
I think BYU beats him by a touchdown. I think
this is going to be a close ballgame. I don't

(07:36):
see BYU just going in there and dominating. I think
the LJ hit will be a factor. I'm serious, I
really do believe that. But at the end of the day,
I think BYU will come out victorious. Now, we very
well could be wrong, very well could be wrong, and
it could be completely of what it's been in the past.
It could be a Colorado type best if they do
what they did to Colorado without LJ. Martin, my goodness,

(07:59):
I don't know what the thing. I really wouldn't I
would be so surprised by this BYU team that you
just have to give them credit and just really tip
of the cap and say that they really would be
p oed, because I don't think anyone is expecting that,
but it could be. But the line is to BYU
is four is four minus four Right now BYU and
the over runders fifty five and a half. They think

(08:19):
that points will definitely be put up, that it'll be
a decent scoring ball game. So I'm gonna say thirty
one twenty four. So I'm gonna take the over go
thirty one twenty four. I think people say defensive select fest,
but I think that excuse me, not that I can't
do math, that's not I'm actually taking the underd. I'm
taking the under by half a point thirty one twenty
four BYU.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
That's fifty five.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
And I think that Georgia Tech they do cover, so
they do end up covering, and that number twelve BYU
takes down number twenty two Georgia Tech on ABC at
Camping World Stateium in Orland to Florida.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
So that's my score prediction.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
But just wanted to give that to you because I
don't know if I'll have an opportunity to give that
to you on Saturday game day. But yeah, look, good coach,
loved this opportunity, Love that he got a renewed contra.
This is a good football team. Don't take them lightly,
Please don't because if you do, it never works well
for you. Remember UA be in the bowl game. So
but anyway, Brent Brent Key, good coach, Georgia Tech. Good

(09:11):
football team. He's had a multitude of stops, and he
had been there multiple times. And remember he was a
graduate assistant as well. I always he forgot he was
a running backs coach as well. So before he had
got this coaching job at Georgia Tech, he was very familiar.
And then remember before that he had got that and
got promoted to the Alabama offensive line coach to say
promotion because that's the sec stop and then gets a

(09:32):
coaching job in the ACC. So this guy means business.
He's come to play and he's gonna have his team ready.
But without further Dodo, let's get back to the sound.
This is Brent Key from a couple of weeks ago
about the invitation in Georgia Tech and BYU and their
matchup in the Pop Tarts Bowl.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Coach, Well, we'll keep it well, keeping with the old
Orlando guys team. We'll start with Luke Patrick, who was
a sports sports quarter down here as well. Luke, you
can tee off and you're ready.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Sam, I appreciate that.

Speaker 7 (09:59):
Brett, you obviously spoke glowingly about Orlando. A two part
questions for you, How did your time in that city
and with UCF make you into the coach you are today?
And the second one probably more important.

Speaker 5 (10:12):
With your favorite pop tart Strawberry.

Speaker 8 (10:19):
I like it.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
I like the frosted, the different frosted glazes on the top.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
You know it's a I'm a big.

Speaker 5 (10:26):
Pop tart guy, even if I've had breakfast and throw
them down.

Speaker 6 (10:29):
But now Orlando is such a such a huge part
of my life, and it's me as a man's and
he has a father, a husband, but also as a
football coach. And you know, there's a little running joke
we have in there with the guys that have did
a work coach O'Leary that talk about dog years, and

(10:50):
I think we're there twelve years and in dog year terms,
it was a lot longer than that.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
But that's where I really learned how to be a
football coach. I learned how to handle versity.

Speaker 6 (11:00):
Setbacks, ups and downs, had a really see the table
as far as the inside of learning the processes that
it takes to be a head coach, coach. A lot
of really really good players, a lot of great memories.
Still have great relationships with those players, uh, and coaches
that we were all together. Gosh, it's been almost ten

(11:20):
years ago now, but uh, you know, a lot of
great memories, a lot of great friendships.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Well we'll move on to Chad Bishop next, but before
I do, I'm obligated to let the folks know that
there are going to be six mascots at this Pop
Tarts Bowl. This year, you'll have Team Sprinkles, Team Swirls,
got protein slam and Strawberry, so coach will be a
fan of that. I think we'll have frosted Sherry, frosted
cookies and cream crossed wild Barring frosted hot Fudge Sunday.

(11:48):
So we got a good crew here, and one of
those teams is going to get toasted at the end
of the game. So without further ado, we'll move on
to the next question.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Chad, go ahead, Hey, ran, good evening.

Speaker 9 (11:59):
Who will be the primary offensive play caller in the
bowl game.

Speaker 5 (12:04):
I've made that decision. I'm going to visit with the
staff tomorrow and they talk through those things.

Speaker 6 (12:08):
I've made the decision already, but I don't want say
anything until I until I have a chance to speak
with the staff.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Cool.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Thanks, hey, coach, and move on next to Emanuel Glaze,
followed by Alex Fairer can Idel go ahead, when ever
you're ready.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
And coach with the news that you heard today, have
with the team accepted and how excited are the players
and getting prepared for this game? This Bowl game?

Speaker 6 (12:32):
Well, I mean we just found out probably you know,
fifty minutes fifty minutes before this fifty five, you know,
not long, but out on.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
Fifty whatever it is. I haven't been around the team yet.

Speaker 6 (12:43):
I've had a lot of you know, sending the text
and cross as soon as we found out this is
this is the Bowl that we definitely are excited about.
I have not had a chance to be around all
the players and get their reaction, but from the text messages,
our team seems extremely excited to come Orlando and it's
the holidays there.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
All right, move on to Alex. Then we'll have Ken
Ken follow up after that. Alex still with us house.
All right, We'll move on to Ken for now. We'll
come back to Alex if you raised the sand again later.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
Hey Brent, thanks good to see the questions.

Speaker 10 (13:33):
You've have had a couple of guys take other jobs elsewhere,
and I think that's something that you've done well, uh
is putting together a good staff. And I know I've
heard you say, for instance, you know, slow to hire,
quick to fire, And I wanted to ask you kind
of when you when you go through your hires, kind
of what are the most important things that that you

(13:53):
prioritize to make the proper hire. I'm like friends. Like,
I'm sure it's not just people that you know are
people that are friends. But but yeah, but like, yeah,
what do you prioritize?

Speaker 5 (14:03):
So obviously a ton of names come through.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (14:06):
When you start to do these things, you have your
own list and and you know, people surprise you, and
you know, it's been it's been a great opportunity here
the last couple of days of really seeing what place
uh Georgia Tech is as compared to three years ago,
and the quality of people that are interested, that have
reached out, that are uh, you know, that want the job. Uh,

(14:27):
it's it's uh, it's it's very humbling to see that
part of it. The number one quality though it is fit.
They've got to fit in with the staff and the team.
There have to be somebody that the team is going
to respond to, that the team is gonna be gonna
uh you know, to listen, to respond to play for uh.

Speaker 5 (14:47):
And there's got to be a high level of trust there.

Speaker 6 (14:49):
You know, you know, not everybody you've worked with before,
but you know, the vetting out of these guys it's
a very time consuming, uh process. Uh, the trust is
such a huge thing with me. And then we have
an identity of it as a team that I want
this these that hire to make sure that it fits
into that identity. And look, that doesn't mean line up

(15:11):
and do certain things a certain way. I want new ideas,
I want new fresh faults. I want to go with
the players in the position to be able to have
success in every play.

Speaker 5 (15:21):
I'm going to take my time on this. I've talked
to I can't.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
I think my list is you know, it's about thirty
six right now that have really people that have intrigued me.
And then the thing about this too. You go through
this process and a lot of times when you talk
to people it might not be the right time now,
but it might be a name for the future, or
a relationships to charity to build. And so I really
enjoy this opportunity. I think it's a great time to

(15:47):
find out about people and people find out about you
and your program. But at the same time that this
is a this is a very important hire for us,
and I'm going to make sure that exalts every possibility
in every option to make sure we get it right.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
All right, thank you, coach.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
Well, it looks like Alex is back with us out Well,
we'll give another shot going whenever you right.

Speaker 5 (16:08):
All right, I'm unmuted now.

Speaker 11 (16:10):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (16:11):
Coaches talking about the chance to play in this game,
you talked about how big of a deal it is
to a chance to play b y U, a ranked team,
a chance to get the ten wins for the first
time in a while, kind of a chance for the
seniors to finish, you know strong, Just how good? How
especially an opportunity this is for y'all kind of how
are you guys approaching it now?

Speaker 6 (16:28):
Well, we'll start approaching it tomorrow. No that we we
know that the opponent is I know that the uh,
you know, the QCs and Jays are already starting to
break stuff down. You break film down and get get
rolling on mat.

Speaker 5 (16:42):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (16:42):
But this is a huge, huge game for us, you know.
And you know Bowl games are meant to be a
reward for the players and the team and the staff, uh,
you know, the coaches. At the same time, we have
we have one mission and has to go to Orland
or to win football team online.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
We're gonna have fun. We're gonna enjoy it.

Speaker 6 (17:02):
We're gonna enjoy everything that Orlando has to offer and
that the Tarts Bowl has to offer us and I
know it's gonna be an outstanding time there, but the
excitement comes with you know, the reward with within this,
within this game, and you know, a chance to get
ten wins, the chance to really send the seniors off
and done so much for this program over the last

(17:23):
you know, several years they've been here, and then it
gives you the positive moment of the way to the
off season.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
Thank you, coach.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
I see three more hands on the screen. We've probably
got time for about three more questions, so we'll go
with Alison then Kelly.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Then close back out with Alison. Go ahead whenever you're ready.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
Alising you with us, all right, allaudible to Kelly. Go
back to Alison next, Kelly, go ahead whenever you're ready.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Heyd coach.

Speaker 10 (17:50):
I was just curious what kind of the senior classes
feel as on this you have twenty seven seniors, I
think it is and how important this game is for
those guys to play their final game at Georgia Tech.

Speaker 9 (18:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:01):
Again, I have not been around the players since we
found out, but I know going into this over the
last few.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
Days when we were together and they.

Speaker 6 (18:11):
Were super excited to find out who we were playing,
where we were playing because they are all locked in,
we think, getting ready to go compete and played.

Speaker 5 (18:19):
One last game together.

Speaker 6 (18:20):
It is the twenty twenty five version of the George
Tech football team.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
I'm gonna stop it there. I think that's impactful, right.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
He said that he hasn't spoken to the players, but
they're excited that they found out. You know, two different things.
So obviously the coaches were informed they found that team.
The players found out probably you know, be a social
media maybe they head coach, Oh, this is the opponent
that they're going to play.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Found out whoy're going to play.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
They're excited to play BYU in this matchup in the
Pop Tarts Bowl. But maybe he hasn't had opportunity to
talk to those seniors as mentioned, But he's right. These
bowl games, people will say they're consolation prizes, they don't matter.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Only the CFP matters.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
But look, if you go to the CFPN you lose
in the first round, what momentum did you take into
the offseason. Oh, well, our team got to the College
Football Playoffs yea, But if you don't win, doesn't really matter,
you know. And going to the Pop Talks Bowl, which
is not a Constellation Prize colony. Sataki has been very
vocal about them. That sounds from everything that I've heard
brin Key is the same way you win this game.
This gives you a bunch of momentum going into next season.

(19:15):
I believe it favors BYU more and recruiting with this
national televised game, especially with it being in Orlando, especially
they started to give recruits to Georgia. I know, Keelan
Marrion transfer to Miami, but you got him, he got Tree.
Alexander's a bunch of athletes along the East Coast that
are starting to play at by. You Remember if you
go back towards you know, the East Coast and basketball
as a Crawford came over, you got robbed right now, AJ.

(19:38):
So we're starting to see BA athletics get, you know,
across all the United States and athletics. So I think
for the football team, this is a very critical game,
not just for BYU, but for also for Geordia Tech.
It solidifies should I stay on this part of the
country and play for your program or should I take
my talents elsewhere. When you're debating that, and when you
beat a big time opponent, the Big twelve of Georgia

(19:58):
Tech wins this football game, this helps him. Like I
said earlier, I think it's going to be BYU. So
I think this can only help BYU in their momentum
and recruiting as well. With everything that they've done, especially
even in a transfer portal too. They're going to be
transfer portal guys watching Walker Lions are going to be
watching this game. Unless he commits to BYU later this week,

(20:18):
he's going to be watching. There's going to be I
think Chase Brown from Kansas State who's in the portal
is going to be the Oregon cornerback. There's going to
be that Texas Linebacker's going to be a bunch of
people that have connections of ties that might may be
coming to BYU that are going to be looking at
this game. So this is an important matchup, no doubt
about it. Let's finish up the sound before we go
to break.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
All right, I'm not seeing Allison's handbackup, So Luke take
us home.

Speaker 7 (20:45):
Yeah, Brent, to that point, talking about what this game means,
we're in an era now where some players opt out
of bowl games. We've seen a team already in Notre
Dame say they're not going to compete in a bowl
game for you guys, for where we're at in the
modern era college football, Just what does that mean to
have your guys committed to a bowl game like this,
even though it's outside college football playoff?

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Yeah, an opportunity to compete is all that competitors can
ask for, right And you want to surround yourself with
competitive people in life, not just on football team, but
in life. And that's what I, uh, that's what I
look for in recruiting, that's what I look for in
development of guys.

Speaker 5 (21:22):
We want to develop and.

Speaker 6 (21:24):
Or recruit and develop competitive people and because they're the
ones that are gonna be successful in life later on
when when they truly want to compete at everything they do.
I can't control people's thoughts and processes and you know
what they want to do. I can just provide information,
provide the structure and what that. That stuff all takes

(21:44):
care of yourself because of the locker room and the
culture of the team.

Speaker 5 (21:46):
And I know from talking to guys already that are
you know. I think if you ever brought it up
to the player and one of our guys, they would
they would laugh at you.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
I mean they would you know, but again I can't
control the people are going to do. But you know, regardless,
we're gonna have eleven people on the eas side of
the football. We're gonna go out there and compete. But
one of the four pillars our program is commitment. And
when you commit to something, you commit for the full time.
And that's my that's my belief, that's the way I feel,

(22:16):
and that's the way I am.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
That was brin Key.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
That was a sound that he gave to the pop
Tars Bowl, the selection Sunday process, the invitation as well.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
They're committed.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
That's one of their four pillars is being committed, and
that's why I love brient Key. Georgia Tech and Boa
and Clowney said hockey, all teams, all players committed. They're
gonna face off this Saturday, December twenty seventh at three
thirty pm Eastern timas kickoff at Camping World Stadium.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Should be a good matchup.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
But that was in introducing his team and discussing, so
hopefully you got to learn more about who Georgia Tech
was and the Yellowjacket's going to be a great game,
no doubt about it. We'll go to break But before
we do that. Segondent was brought to you by Utah

changes a bunch, it's a bunch of other stuff. I've
got a new wheelbaring, I've gotten my windshiel replaced. I've
even renewed you know my what my state renewals have
come from there at missions tests. All of that comes
at Ryan Eldridge and his crew at Big OD Tires

appointment at Big Od Tires in American Fork. All right
byu is on the grounds and Orlando enjoying themselves. This
was yesterday, Day two of activities and the prep for

(25:32):
the Pop Tarts Bowl included a joint team activity with
Georgia Tech and afternoon practice and more activities around the
Orlando area in the evening. The first event of the
day was a visit by the team to the Fun
Spot America, a local amusement park, to meet up with
members of the Georgia Tech team and local youth from
the community. Love when you always meet with people in

(25:52):
the community. Players from both teams took kids on ride,
spend time playing games and visiting with the children. Head
coach Comline Satakei and Yellowjackets coach Bricky kicked off the
event together and sent both squads off to enjoy the
roller coaster, carnival, games and activities. This might be a
spot that I might have to pull up two depending
on time. This looks a lot of fun. Following the

(26:13):
morning activity by you headed to one of the local
high schools to hold its first practice in Orlando. The
Cougars utilized the to our practice session to continue prep
for the Georgia Tech and Saturday's game at Camping World Stadium.
After the practice, Coline's attacking, other members of the staff
and Bill administration attended a special dinner party with their counterpart,
said Georgia Tech, at Delle Frisco's Steakhouse, while the players

(26:35):
explored the local area during the evening hours. Man, that
might have to be a steakhouse that I check out
as well. I need to be very careful because the
wife has told me, you need to stay within the budget.
Sometimes I haven't stayed within the budget. This might need
to be the meal that I splurge on. But there
are a lot of good activities, free activities going on
down there. I can't wait to try the pop tarts.
I know, I've told you guys that deep fried pop tart. Oh,

(26:57):
I cannot wait to try the deep fried tard. Wednesday,
BAUS coordinators which is today and select players have spoken
to the media members and the Cougars are holding that
other practice which will conclude here, I think momentarily because
they're on the East coast time. Yeah, I think it
actually has concluded now that I look at it, you know,
because we're around the three forty three forty five range.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
Yeah, so practice is now concluded.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Looking at that, because this is a press release that
was released yesterday, but also in preparation for today as well.
I mean, look, when you look at the pictures, you
see a bunch of people follow the south to all
and Bear Bachmeyer and kings Hayne and another Georgia tech
lineman Bruce Mitchell eating a pop tart with Austin Leo USA.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Hey.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
Look, the trophy is phenomenal. This trophy looks so good
with the pop tarts in it. I wish I could
try one. Probably won't be able to, but that's totally fine.
And you had a bunch of people. All these pictures
are with the kids and giving back to the community.
That's really what it's about. When you look at it.
You got a Nisi Percell. I'm pretty sure this is him.
I think he is in a go cart with one
of the kids. They had a phenomenal time. Love when

(28:02):
people get back to the community, because I remember when
people get back to my community.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
I remember going to the park districts. You love people
in the community. Giving back. So this is a great opportunity.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
I think you got what I has done as well
as a bunch of people and a bunch of BAU
players that want We're actually gonna play a clip from
Kalanie Shataki. He actually addressed the media at the fun
spot in America Park, So let's hear from Kilani right
now and just giving back to the community.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Him and Brian Key both were there.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
On getting around with the kids and what this event
needs to have out.

Speaker 12 (28:38):
Yeah, well, anytime that we have an opportunity to be
That's why I love Bowl games, to be in the
community and to hang out with the people do some service.
So I think the connection between the people is it
makes what makes Bowl games so much better than just
a regular football game. But the ability to do it
with a great program like Georgia Tech and with Frank
Key here's an amazing coach and all we have a

(29:00):
great friendship. And seeing our guys hang out with each
other and doing doing some work with your kids, getting
to know them has been just been awesome. And they
have to go on a couple of rides too, So
I don't know if our body times are built for this,
for this uh, this part, but I know that we
have some skilled guys that.

Speaker 8 (29:15):
Will love it.

Speaker 12 (29:16):
A lot of the bigger two fifty and above probably
want to enjoy it as much as they as the
other words. But well, the goal is to do it
with the kids, so that that's the key.

Speaker 5 (29:26):
Uh yeah, yeah, I mean we talked.

Speaker 13 (29:29):
We say all the time that it's about the players.
It's about the kids. It's always going to be about
the kids. You know, coaches, we just leave.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
We were not out there playing the game, all right,
and we have the greatest game in the world, and
there's so.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
Many people that want to have magative things.

Speaker 5 (29:42):
To say about football.

Speaker 6 (29:43):
Whereas now we have a chance to.

Speaker 13 (29:44):
Interact with other kids, get to the community, hopefully have
them have a positive line of what our game is
and what our name does for the you and how
it develops them and being better people later on the
fellowship and didn't give the UIU and the.

Speaker 6 (29:56):
Team that I've sent this a couple of times that
last couple of days watching the Change this past week,
and this team definitely should have been in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
Uh So we're excited to eighty for the cover.

Speaker 6 (30:08):
Thanks guys.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
That was Kilani and the Murky they dabbed up right there.
I cut it off beforehand, but look, you're here in
this narrative multiple times from coaches, this is a team
that should have been in the playoffs. Like they say that,
there's respect from a lot of people in college football,
a lot of coaches that felt like, by you should
have and Georgia Tech knows that Texas Tech knew it.
You know, there's a bunch of tams for the fact

(30:30):
that bau wasn't in a graphic. That's the crazy part
of all of that. But respect from from from Key
right there. You gotta respect that all of these coaches
understand that Kilani and b yu Is has changed the
their their narrative, and their landscape and that they're going
to be a team that's gonna be fighting for a
Big twelve conference. Burked an opportunity to go to college

(30:53):
football playoffs every single year, So that was them getting
caught up. And like you heard, it's about the kids.
Has always been about the kids. Coaches just lead, you know.
Kline also been a little tongue in cheek that maybe
those coaches and the bigger guys and guys over two
fifty but it's always about giving back to the community.
So give back this holiday season. A guy that wants
to get back to you an opportunity to earn their
business is Ryan Eldridge. That's what our Insider Report is

(31:14):
brought to you by Big Odtires, an American fourth, the honest,
hard working, cross transparent mechanic that's also a big BAU fan.
Love Ryan, love his crew. Let him take care of
you this holiday season and be your permanent mechanic. Let
him be the permanent mechanic, because you're gonna get the
VIP treatment, the VIPP products, the VP service when you
mentioned Ben Krittle, you're gonna get the ESPN a fan discount.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
They do it all.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Tim battery, TIM batteries, windows, shields, safety and emissions, you
name it, engine replacements, they'll take care all of it.
They will patch it up even if he got that
oil league as well. They're located in American Fork at
seven four to eight Et State Road. Please give him
a call today eight zero one six nine to two
three seven five seven. That's eight zero one six nine
two three seven five seven at Big Od Tires in

(31:54):
American four. We'll go to break Darnell Dixon coming up
on the flip. Guys, don't go anywhere I'm gonna judo
chip in the throat. Did you to chop you in
the throat? You don't want it this holiday season. Don't
make me get on Santa's naughty list because you turned
that FM dial. We'll be back only two minutes, only
two minutes, and darnld Dickson will join us. You listening
to Cougar Sports on one, O, three nine and ninety
eight three.

Speaker 11 (32:15):
Trip is easy, Yeah, just easy flight, fun, fun energy
on the plane with not just you know, our teammates,
but a lot of our coaches, families and you know,
our wives and other great people who were with us.

Speaker 8 (32:26):
But a lot of good energy. Excited to be here
in Florida. Have you been to Orlando before?

Speaker 2 (32:31):
I have?

Speaker 11 (32:31):
Yeah, so I actually grew up on the East Coast.
I've been down here a couple of times. We played
uh we played at Central Florida last season, so we've
been downed for a game already.

Speaker 8 (32:39):
But it's a great, great spot to play.

Speaker 14 (32:42):
What's the most non football pay you're backing Fords this week?

Speaker 8 (32:48):
I mean between Disney World and.

Speaker 11 (32:53):
You know on I think that's Christmas Eve and then
Universal Studios on.

Speaker 8 (32:59):
You know day.

Speaker 11 (33:00):
I think we're gonna have a lot of fun, lots
to do, and lots of great food to eat. Just
excited about that experience.

Speaker 5 (33:08):
Universe is gonna be packed us.

Speaker 8 (33:10):
I believe it.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
I know.

Speaker 8 (33:11):
I was told it's one of the busiest days of
the year. So guess you picked the right day to come.
We were in there yesterday and every line was like
three hours long. Hotly, I believe it.

Speaker 5 (33:19):
It's a good time to the game.

Speaker 14 (33:22):
Uh, you know, you guys eleven too and made the
pomp tart fold.

Speaker 5 (33:27):
But what what do you guys?

Speaker 14 (33:29):
What do you have to say for I guess you
know this season leading up to this game, you know what,
how how.

Speaker 5 (33:33):
Has it been for you guys?

Speaker 11 (33:34):
Yeah, I know, it's been a It's been a great
season for us. We've been able to you know, accomplish
a lot of the goals that we set for ourselves
when we started the year.

Speaker 8 (33:43):
Obviously our goal was to you know, win.

Speaker 11 (33:45):
A big twelve championship, and we came up short of
doing that, but are still thrilled and very grateful to
be here and play in this this Bowl game. Grateful
for all that it represents. It's one of the best
bowls outside of the CFP for sure. Just a lot
of fun energy behind it, and you know, it's a
great location. So we're excited about that and just excited
to finish our season off on the right note and

(34:07):
carry a lot of good momentum.

Speaker 8 (34:08):
And energy into the offseason.

Speaker 11 (34:12):
This would you know, win a win here for us
in this bowl game would be our first you know,
twelve win season since two thousand and one, so that
means a lot to us, and we want to finish
the year you know, ranked in.

Speaker 8 (34:23):
The top ten and be recognized as a as a
top ten team in the country.

Speaker 5 (34:26):
A lot of programs, I mean, we've seen your teams
opt out of ball games and stuff.

Speaker 8 (34:32):
Like that, and they didn't make the College Football Playoff.

Speaker 14 (34:34):
But in your opinion, what do the bowls like the
hop Tard Bowl, you know, what do they still have
to offer? Like you know, you guys de Lay, like
you said, you still have a twelve win season and
play for yeah, as you've done over twenty years.

Speaker 8 (34:45):
Yeah, what are goals that are outside of college football playoff?

Speaker 5 (34:49):
Do you think they still have meaning?

Speaker 8 (34:50):
And what do you think of absolutely? Yeah, I mean
for us and just the culture of.

Speaker 11 (34:54):
Who we are and you know, who our coaches like,
whatever the task is at him and whatever game you
know that we we earn at the end of the year,
we're gonna you know, continue to put our best towards
winning that and towards whoever the opponent is. So you know,
that's that's why you should never expect that from us.
You know, as a program, we're we're excited and humbled

(35:16):
and grateful for any opportunity that we have to go
out there and play and represent.

Speaker 8 (35:20):
You know, b YU in the right way. And so.

Speaker 11 (35:24):
You know, I think, I think in a world where
there's so much money and fame and other things, you know,
creeping into college football, it's important to still you know,
not let that entitlement get to you and just be
grateful for this opportunity to play. And for those of
us who are seniors like me, one more game with
our with our boys, and you know we're in the

(35:45):
BYU Jersey means the world, so we wouldn't miss it
for anything.

Speaker 5 (35:48):
So you're on the defensive side of the ball. George
Tech obviously as.

Speaker 8 (35:50):
A pretty high powered offense, absolutely really good quarterback.

Speaker 14 (35:54):
Yep, you know, what do you see on them are
from them on film and what type of tests is
that going to be your mis center?

Speaker 11 (36:00):
I know it's gonna be a great test for us.
We love we love playing against the best. We've seen
a lot of good quarterbacks this year. But yeah, Hams King,
you know, receive some great recognition for the way you
played this season as the acc offensive Player of the Year.
But yeah, no, their offense, I think, you know, they've
got great personnel across the board at running back, at

(36:21):
wide receiver, and their quarterback runs the ball extremely well too,
So they're they're very effective and efficient offense. I feel
like they sustain drives well and just move the ball
down the field and find ways to get yards. And
they've shown that on film throughout, you know, their entire
season and all their games. And we're excited about this,
this opportunity to play them.

Speaker 8 (36:40):
Last couple of questions, we're kind of fun ones.

Speaker 14 (36:42):
You know, I'm assuming you've seen the Pop Tart Bowl
on television.

Speaker 15 (36:46):
Absolutely so, you know the giant mascot turns into a
giant pop tart after the game. Yes, how sweet would
that be to be able to take a bite of
the world's largest pop tart.

Speaker 8 (36:56):
Oh, yeah, no, we're we're looking forward to that.

Speaker 11 (36:58):
We're we're playing on definitely all getting a piece of
the pop tart aftercoon.

Speaker 14 (37:02):
And then obviously the trophy is a toaster. Yeah, your
coach was here about a week ago doing some media
and he said he needs a toaster in his office.
So how sweet would that be your senior season to
leave your coach a nice Christmas president.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
Of his office?

Speaker 8 (37:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (37:18):
I know that mean the world, especially with the light
of what's going on in the last couple of weeks,
being able to.

Speaker 8 (37:23):
Keep kill one at b YU and get that extension
for him.

Speaker 11 (37:26):
So I don't think this trophy would be one in
a case. I think it would be accessible and it
might get some good use for sure in his office.

Speaker 8 (37:34):
Absolutely. What's your favorite popjats?

Speaker 11 (37:36):
I'm partial to the wild Berry or the Raspberry.

Speaker 8 (37:39):
Those are my two go tos. Yeah, Tanner, I think
that's all I got.

Speaker 5 (37:43):
Anything else you wanted to get out there?

Speaker 8 (37:45):
Nope, that's it. Thank you so much, Thank you appreciate it.
