been there, the Grand Canyon, You've been down the Moab
and the Arches and all those places are great.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
It's fine.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
I think Bryce Canyon is truly the gem of our state,
so unique. Like most of the people that visit Bryce
Canyon are not even from the state of Utah and
not even from the United States of America. They come
from international places because of how unique Bryce Canyon is.
The hoodoos, these red rock formations jutting forward from the

horseback ride through the hoodoos of Bryce Candon National Park,

Welcome bredon day of Odion Menswear braidon.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Now that are you buddy doing awesome? How are you
guys doing doing fantastic?
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Appreciate you joining me to talk a little college football.
Did you see the comments from Nick Saban recently? We
just went on a.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Diet tribe about it.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Nick Saban essentially is I think he's getting off his
rock or here's complaining.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
There's a lot of excuses.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
He's talking about how the Big ten now is a
recruiting advantage over.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
The SEC do the NIL?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
And Sean Walker thinks he's essentially admitting on the back
end of this particular quote to having knowledge of payment
for play prior to NIL being a part of the
bylaws of the NCAA. What do you make of the
retired Nick Saban?
Speaker 4 (02:50):
I actually didn't see the comment yet, so I have
to go look that up. But I do think just
that point in general, I personally, and it's probably because
I'm biased you've been, but I think NIL and the
transferport have been great, huge resources and good things for
byus specifically, and so I love it and I think
(03:11):
on a whole. Like, the thing I love about it
the most is it does it puts us all on
an equal playing field, because, in my opinion, especially with
BYU being a school that's going to keep the rules,
as soon as we get back to regulation where the
rules are more strict and we have to abide by
certain rules, we will start up fighting by those rules.
But the Bamas of the world are going to go
(03:33):
back to being the ones doing it under the table,
and so they have that advantage for so long, and
now they don't have that advantage because now it's above
the table and BYU can do it also. And that's
my take on it is that it's made the parody
in college football so much better, and I think that's
a great thing.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Has nil ruined college football for you, for your friends,
your family members?
Speaker 4 (03:53):
Has it ruined it for you only the Utah State friends?
I have My step brother in law's diehard you thought
State Van, And I honestly kind of feel bad for
the g fives of the world that I'm really glad
that we got out of it. Like, and I say
that and it probably sounds like like a charity case,
but like it really is a situation where it's really
(04:14):
hard to keep talent at that level. But at the
same time, the high school recruits they are able to
get now is actually better than what it was before
because they're schools taking left high school commitments. So I
think we're gonna it kind of turns into it to facto.
It's not a farm system, but they're gonna get a
lot of young talent, and then that young talent ends
up transferring away, which isn't isn't great.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
So well, it hasn't ruined it for me, and I
don't think it's ruined anything for BYU fans, at least
not to this point. Have you seen a little transition
within our fan base. Remember back in like twenty and
twenty when Nil and then eventually transfer Portal and this
free agent world, and you know, they kind of were
(04:56):
like a little bit, like very pessimistic about it. They
felt like it would ruin the sport, ruin their teams.
They were very much on the negative side of things.
And we are law abiding people. We are a bye
law of biding. But we took a lot of pride
in doing it the right way under NCAA by laws,
even though we saw them castigate and reprimand us for
(05:19):
the nick Emory situation and the only child situation, amongst others.
But have you seen a little bit of a turn
of the tide amongst our fan base as it relates
to our opinions of nil and transferportal.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Yes, And I think it all has to do it's
whether we think it's going to be an advantage or disadvantage.
I think up on the Hill, I don't think they're
loving it because it's a disadvantage for them in the state,
in the market. But I think for us, all of
a sudden, the fans are like, wait, this is the
greatest thing ever because it's working for us. So I
think that was what it was. I think they believed
that we were not going to go out and spend
money because it's Uau and we're frugal and all those
(05:52):
different things. And so I think it has much more
to do with what situation you're in. If you're the
Bam of the world, it's getting the parody hurt you
hate it into the Bau of the world. That's all
of a sudden now getting talent you could never get before,
where you weren't getting before, especially in basketball of Aja
and things like that, like it's the greatest thing. So
I really just think it depends on who you cheer for.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Brandon Day, how do you feeling about this BAU Stanford
matchup right now? The spread twenty and a half BA.
You say, have the lea favored at home? Stanford lost
to Hawaii on the road. Okay, not a good look
week zero. They have had a bye week to prepare
for BYU obviously, and they do have talent the five
year average recruiting ranking, I mean, they're a top forty
(06:34):
five recruiting team recruiting ranking team, right, they have the personnel.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
They have lost some players due to transfer.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Portal e set, but they're more often than not they're
retaining their talent, you know, year in and year out.
Stanford is an interesting study, right, But then Hawaii they're
one opponent that they lost just lost to you of
a the Wildcats of the Big twelve by almost forty
points recently. Will you take all those data points together,
(07:02):
what do you make of this matchup?
Speaker 4 (07:05):
Well, and I loved what Brady said on your air
waves a couple of it a couple of days ago.
But I think I worry. I don't really worry that
the players are overlooking them. I hope they they're not,
because it seems like from the coaches all their interviews
this week, they're not overlooking them because I do think
they have the talent to come and beat us. I
don't think they have it put together. I do think
we should beat them by you know, I think that
(07:25):
the spreads are pretty fair spread, truthfully, But I think
that if we came in not being serious and just thought,
you know what, we just rolled, you know, an FCS
team and these guys are the worst of the P five,
so that I'm worried that that would be the case.
But I don't see that coming from this coaching staff
right now, So I'm not too worried. But I do
think that this team has much more talent, and I'm
really excited to see us play against the team that
(07:49):
we're not just completely outmanning, we're actually just out playing them.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Yeah, it's you want this to be a fairly dominant victory.
There's not a whole lot of respect for Stanford right now.
They're coming off of multiple three and nine seasons. They're
in a rebuild mode. You know, back in two thousand
and what twenty two, Shaw essentially retired after losing to BYU.
(08:17):
Like I do feel like there's a little bit of
a paying of the piper, you know, if we were
to take the historic, you know, elements between BYU, the
relationship between BYU and Stanford, I can't imagine that anyone
within the administration of Stanford when BYU was winning football
games and was being courted, possibly as a PAC eight,
PAC ten, Pac twelve inclusion, I guess a candidate. There
(08:43):
wasn't anyone at Stanford that was like, yeah, let's go
bring in BYU, right, let's bring them in.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
They didn't.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
They were stiff armor Brigham from the beginning, and they
beat byun No.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Three and oh four. You know, they beat them. They
were beating them on the gridiron.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
They're beating them in recruiting whenever they're going ahead to
with LDS recruits and uh. And then they were very
exclusionary with their their picks. And they picked up Brigham's
little brother up in Salt Lake to add to their
team in the PAC twelve, and Hubris and the papas nature,
the the so called erudites of Stafford col The PAC twelve,
(09:20):
et cetera, led to their prominent and prideful destruction, and
now's the time for b Yu to have his glory
and win on the gridiron and put a little nail
in the coffin of an Ever Uh, I would say this, Uh,
there's there's a irrelevancy that is brewing in the Bay
(09:43):
Area and Stanford is going to be irrelevant very very soon.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Nail in the coffin time.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
Yeah, and I agree with that. I think they are
definitely trending down. I don't think that. I mean, obviously,
we got Baron Tiger out of the portal because of
the same situation that all of other players left for
was the fact that you know, there was some stuff
going on and they had to fire their coach. And
I I don't think, like I really do believe that
we should go and dominate this game. But I am
(10:11):
excited just because it is going to be better talent.
And I think the thing that Brady said and the
coaches harped on this week and all their interviews was
that they are good. I mean they're running back. I
think it's Ford as his last name, that's he looks
like a pretty dang good running back like he I
think they have some talent across the board. It's just
going to be up to, you know, whether they can
put it together, and I don't think they can. And
(10:32):
I think we're gonna come out and like my score
prediction is probably I think what I put on my
pick them was thirty five to six. So I don't
think I take a touchdown. I think they've got a
couple of field goals and then I think we're gonna
get to see the the you know, bear going out
and throwing a couple of touchdown passes and then running
the ball like crazy.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
So bradon day here on ESPN the Fan, Brydon, Uh,
what did you find out? What did you learn about
this Boe football team to the port of the state game?
Speaker 3 (11:00):
What do you know?
Speaker 2 (11:02):
You know from that sixty nine to zero victory versus
the arguably the worst team in college football FCS level.
You know, maybe they may be the worst NA nai
A team, they may be the worst junior college team
in college but but they may be the worst team
period in any above high school level football team.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
Yeah. I and before the game, I got I got
sick on last Friday, and so on Saturday I came
to the game, but I wasn't feeling super super great,
and I wasn't. I'm usually a pretty excited, pumped up person.
On my little brother was like, what the heck's going
on with your onny nex Sid. I'm like, we're not
gonna learn anything, and truthfully, I don't. I still don't
feel like we learned very much. Like I think it
was good to see Barb be composed. I thought he
(11:43):
threw some throws that were really great. I thought I
threw some throws that he wish he'd have back. I
thought we saw that the running backs are going to dominate,
but I think they were going to dominate no matter
who ran. I mean, all of our running back came in,
even our you know down to Cole Colhagen came in
and ran all over him too. Like, I just don't
think we learned really any thing, And so I'm really
excited for this week to actually feel like we at
(12:03):
least get to learn something. I still don't think it's
gonna be this huge test that we're gonna learn how
battle test that this team is or how they can
handle stuff. But at least we'll learn that they can
play against bigger physical talent.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
So yeah, yeah, I think coming away from that Portland
State game, there was a few lessons learned, but uh,
you know, a few maybe nuggets of truth about this
b YU football team that we were able to acquire,
but not many, not many. Bradon tell us about some
of the deals we have going on at Odeon Men's
where for all of our listeners.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
Yeah, we've are the best deal in talent. Is just
the fact that we have it. You can get an
elevate suit for the price you can get it for
it is really the truth. To elevate suit is incredible.
Everybody that tries it on absolutely loves it because it
looks good, but it feels so so comfortable. So that's
a that suits four hundred dollars honestly in the market
from the e commerce customers that suit the suits that
(12:55):
are similar to that or something for six seven hundred dollars.
We know that, you know, selling it to missionary selling.
It's the clientele that we do sell that suit too,
that's hot. That price is just too high, so we
keep it at a more manageable price. So really it
is an incredible deal. You also can come in and
get fitted for it and rather than having to just
go buy something online and hope it fits, so it's
an incredible suit. Our shirts are great. If you buy
(13:16):
that suit, do you actually get by one, get a
second one? Twenty five percent off, so really really good
deal on that suit. And then all of our products
we try and take care of people. We have little
bundles and things like that to help you get outfitted
if you need, you know, a whole new wardrobe for
a new calling, or if you've got a job interview,
you're coming in. Our missionary season started to roll, start
to kind of wind down a little bit. We've figured
lots coming in, but I feel like it's kind of
(13:37):
this is the time of year start rolling down. So
we'll start doing some individual sales and things like that
and get those launch. But truthfully, we try and keep
our prices at a very very respectable and affordable price
for the product that's beginning.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Couple last things before we let you go for so long.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
This Stanford football team Lance Anderson Shaw Harbaugh right, they
they stole it from us are precious Latter day Saint
BYU football prospects. I got a list of them, so many.
I know you're a recruiting guy. You like to you
know you like to look at that, like I see
guys like Dallas Lloyd and Brandon Fanaika Simmi, Fojoco, Dalton Schultz, Shoney,
(14:21):
Himulilan Tanner McKey, the Elaine Veach, Levanni de Mooney, Low
Kalfu See, Gabe Reid.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Shoot Taysom Hill was almost tooking from us. LJ was well.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
I don't know if we recruited al Jaanda High School,
but we got him.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
We finally got him.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Sean Barton, Great Clark, Mark Harris, John Manson, Christian Palau.
I think Scotty Edwards is on the team right now,
bot right, you know what I mean? So like you
look at that, you're like, wait a tick, Like man,
they taking somebody. We gotta get them back. We're two
and we're one and two all time against the Stanford Cardinals.
I think this game means more than just another na
(15:00):
P four non conference win. I think this win, if
done in a declarative fashion, sets b WHYU up to
win in recruiting versus Stanford for the next decade. I
think it sets by you up to push Stanford further
into irrelevancy as a team that's in.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
The ACC on the West Coast.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Like can you imagine like going in and talking to
a recruds like this nice little program, good education, that's great,
they're the ACC And look check this film out. The
last two games we dominated them. And look here's brother Neil,
meet brother Neil, n Il Neil. You know he's gonna
(15:45):
make up for any you know, any payments that you're
gonna get, supposedly with that Stanford education.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
You know.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
I mean that means more. It means more than just
a win at a conference.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
Well, and I think two things with that. One I think,
like take is that it's already happened. I think that
the recruiting has already taken over. Like yes, LJ was
planning on going, nobody never signed there. He ended up
signing with us before. I think you get Nucy who
flipped Nucy Tamil Peo that flipped obviously, the Bachmeer boys
who we didn't recruit, I mean we tried out of
(16:16):
high school, but they went there and then the coaching
situation flipped them. So I don't know that we could
say that was a win, that was just a casualty
of coaching situation. But I think we really are moving
in that direction and it's already happening, but I do
think a declared of win tomorrow could really really really
set that up. And so that's basically kind of where
I feel like we're already moved that way. And that education, Like, honestly, yes,
(16:40):
their education is incredible, but if you really look at it,
like for what these guys are going to be majoring in,
where are they going to get more connections to people
who are passionate about football that will allow them to
come into work in their positions and help help them grow.
It really is at byu Like the degree that most
of them are going into they can get have a
better success out of UAU because of the connections they
(17:03):
get out of UAU, because of how many passionate BA
fans and look at the I mean, look at what
we've got coming in Nil. It's because we have BAU
grads that are going out and doing amazing in the
entrepreneurial fields.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
So love it.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Bredon day, guys, if you're listening, go get your missionary
attire there, your business attire there, your church attire there.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Try out the new Elevate suit.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
It's a sports performance at leisure suit that looks like
a traditional suit, high quality, but it allows.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
For range of motion. You know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Whenever you sit down and you're wearing a suit and
you're going to church, and you buckle your seat belt
and you got to put your left arm across your chest,
and when you have one of those traditional suits, you
feel the tension right and you have to like oscillate
and completely turn your body just to just to get
the seat belt on. It's uncomfortable. You're mad, right, You're
running a little bit late, not anymore with the at
(17:55):
Leisure sports performance, so you're gonna you're gonna be able
to butt kick, hei knee karaoka sprint.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
I'm telling you, it's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
And I can do a deep squad without blowing out
my pants, which is great.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
It's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
So uh mentioned I sent you talk to Brayden and
his crew at Odeon Men's where they're gonna take care
of you.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Braiden. We salute you, Thanks so much, brother, Thanks with
you tomorrow much love.

What do we have on the docket?
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Former b y U Greats ballin in the National Football League.
I'm sure you're going to try to watch each and
every one of them. By the way, g man attacking
me on Twitter said he's listening to Brandon Heeney, the
Brandon Heiny interview that we had a little bit ago
with myself. He says, who I think he says. I
(20:38):
think he's saying that he thinks Brandon Heeney is one
of the more more underrated CBS and BOI football history.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
And it begs the question, who is the better cornerback
at BA.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Come on, Brandon, he says, Brandon Heeney, Ben Crinel or
Walt Williams. Come on, oh poke, he's creating enmity between
my two former teammates. Walt Williams at EAC Eastern Arizona
Junior College. We were fighting HeLa monsters together and then Brandon,
(21:10):
he's not was my teammate, but he you know, he's
an extension of my teammateery.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
It's not a real word, Majory.
Speaker 5 (21:17):
We all know what Williams was the greatest BA cornerback
of all time. I mean, come on, come on.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
That's true. A good point.
Speaker 5 (21:27):
He never lost a game as time of waiting, he
never lost the game.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
He ended up at an FCS school in Florida and
he played well there. And I was told that he
got a shot in the NFL. Maybe a camp or
something like that. I still don't believe it, but that's
what That's what someone told me.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
I'm like maybe, but.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Hey, Walt, just remember, g Man, Remember it was not
Walt Williams who led the fighting Gila Monsters in Eastern
Arizona and I n t's that year. It was a
product out of Glendale, Arizona and Mount Ridge High.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
School that did that. We've repicked.
Speaker 6 (22:07):
We might have to play the dry regions.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
I led the team that year in picks.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
So shove it, g Man, You and your love infatuation
with Walt Williams, get out of here, Get out of here.
All right, Let's talk about Cougar's in the pros. Who
are we most intrigued by?
Speaker 7 (22:25):
Here?
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Ronald the three man weaver? Who do you like? Who
you gonna you watch?
Speaker 2 (22:28):
I know you're I know you're an NFL guy, But
which player, which team are you gonna be watching most intently?
Speaker 6 (22:33):
All right, let's not do the Homer pick that everybody
thinks I'm gonna do. First, I'll just give a comment
and give some love. Sad that Jacob Robinson has an injury,
Can I just say that first, a guy who made
the what fifty three man roster. I thought a guy
that we probably would see potentially maybe this Sunday. You
hate to see that you plan solo on a opportunity,
But blessed he made the roster.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
But that sucks.
Speaker 6 (22:54):
I just wanted to say that, Uh Ben, I don't know.
I think the biggest guy that I'm excited to see
is Pookin. The CoA they got, not got rid of,
but they made business decisions.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
They put Cooper Cup.
Speaker 6 (23:05):
You know, to the to the excuse me, the Seahawks
moved him over there, brought in Da. Da knows he's
the number two option to make room for Puka. He's
gonna get paid at the end of the season. He's
we know that for fact, right, So I'm excited to
watch Pooka tear it up. And the Texans are a
really good defense. That's why Demico Ryan is gonna be
an all time great coach. I believe when it's all
said and done, he was a great player. And you're
(23:27):
not playing a scrub, you're playing actually see your shot.
So as much as I love the Mahomes, the king
Zy Sua Matiya, you know, the Andy Reid kicking people,
I'm excited to see pooknats. I'm excited to see what
Pooka is able to do because he's gonna go out
and get his money. Sean mcvay's gonna get his money.
And that's my dark corese sleeper pick for the NFC.
I think the Rams can beat the Eagles and get
to the super Bowl. They're so close, and I would
(23:48):
love nothing for my Christmas wish list, ben then to
see the Rams and Sean mcvaan Pookinaka and to see
kings saw A Matiya and see Andy Reid in the
super Bowl. That won't happen, of course, but yeah, I'm
excited to see Pooka. That's my big that's my pick.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Uh, Sean Walker, who do you? Who are you most
intrigued by here?
Speaker 3 (24:06):
And why? Which game? Which matchup? Which player? I'm gonna
go a.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
Little off the beat path because you know, he's got
a couple guys that I think are starring in the NFL,
and I'm I'm not intrigued to watch the likes of
Poka Nakua like Ron mentioned or Tyler alt Year. I
think he's gonna have another really good year, a really
strong role with the Atlanta Falcons. I'm not intrigued by
the likes of Ryan Rico, who has really come out
(24:31):
of nowhere to be one of the best in the
country and and definitely the best in Cincinnati. Right I'm
a little bit intrigued by Kyle van Noy with Baltimore,
see what he can do following his breakout season. They're
at like forty seven years older.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
He WHOA, that's disrespect.
Speaker 5 (24:52):
Kidding how for ever younger than me? So that's all
that matters. I'm really interested in Kiris Tonga parlayed a
really nice year last year, twenty two tackles, six solo stops,
mostly coming off the bench for a terrible Arizona Cardinals franchise.
(25:13):
I'm allowed to say that as Phoenix native. By the way,
he's finally in a better situation with New England. Parlayd
parlayed his play in the Valley of the Sun to
a contract with a rebuilding Patriots franchise, and I think
this is a really good fit for him. I think
there's a really good situation for him a Pats team
(25:33):
that has progressively gone down since a certain former all
time great quarterback made his way to South Florida and
then he went to the broadcast. But I'm really interested
to see if Kiris Tonga can bring himself back up
to maybe the days like where he was for a
short time in Chicago and at the beginning of his
(25:56):
tenure with the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
I'm gonna be keeping a.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
Really close eye on Kiris Toga.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
I love Ciris. Ciris remember a two star. They came
to b Yu. He was a tight end at his
high school and Elisa Tuiaki found him and said, hey,
you you're gonna be a defensive tackle.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Crazy and went on a mission.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
He was committed to Utah, went on a mission that
was during the change of essentially Kilane and Elisa going
to Oregon State and then coming to BYU, and so
the Lord.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
Spoked him on his mission. Kiris ended up at Brigham.
He was a bit of a.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Project though high pad level, big strong had some explosivity,
But like when you've been an offensive player for most
of your career, you're not necessarily like a violent human.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
At the point of the time.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
It's just is what it is, like, you know, any
anyone that's played the game, like the offensive guy that
tries to convert to the defensive side.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Of the ball isn't necessarily always violent.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
Like more oft than not, they have to be avoid yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
I don't like that.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
They don't like seeing the bell like the stars when
they go helmet to all that stuff and so uh
and kyris developed into a really good defensive tackle for BYU.
And I think one of his crowning moments, I would say,
is the USC game where he was literally backing up
that poor center into Keten Slovas like twenty nineteen, just
(27:22):
backing them up, backing them up.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
Essentially the center.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
Sacked Keeton anyway, So I like that pick a lot.
I'm most intrigued by Kyle Vanoy. Kyle Vanoy is arguably
the most productive, most impactful defensive player to ever come
through Brigham Young University. His collegiate career was insane. It
(27:47):
was insane. His highlight reel his mixtape is off the Chain,
just crazy strip, sack, fumble, scoop score. He's had multiple
and game winners at that walk off, That's what I'm saying.
Like he had a walk off win at Ole Miss.
I was there, I was in that south end zone.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
I was right there. I was like watching it all
play out.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
I'm like, we are we gonna win this game, like,
and he won it.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
He won it for us. It was crazy the San
Diego State game.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Like, ah my gosh, I just couldn't believe just how
crazy productive he was.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
A football IQ that's off the charts.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
And unfortunately for him, he went to the wrong team
at the wrong time, at the wrong place and had
some injuries to making the transition from BYU to the
National Football League, and that stymied and delayed his productivity.
It's stymied. It delayed his greatness and his potential. This
(28:44):
is potential playmaking ability. By year four though, he got
to New England and that's when it started, right.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
But even after New.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
England, right, and he had he had made all these
plays and had been so productive.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
And I think over I think it was over four seasons.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
With New England played in like I don't know, it's
like something like sixty games and had like three hundred
tackles and TFLs and sacks. Then he goes to Miami
on a big deal and Miami's like not after one
season pretty much don't watch anymore crazy and then goes
(29:19):
to the Church. So like within certain teams with certain coaches,
they know how to utilize him, and others have no
idea how to utilize it. You know, I'm not a
tool guy, but whatever the tool is is like they
most like, maybe like a handsaw. Some guys know how
to handle the handsaw. Other guys don't know what they
heck to do with it. That's Kyle Vanoi in the
(29:40):
National Football League. They just don't know how to utilize him.
And luckily for Kyle, having been in the league as
long as he had played in over one hundred and
fifty eight games now five hundred and forty one total tackles,
three sixty three solo, one hundred and seventy eight assisted,
fifty five sacks in say, fourteen forced fumbles, ten fumble recoveries,
(30:01):
three I in t's one touchdown. Okay, as a defender,
you know, yes, he's in the twilight of his career,
but the fact that he's having success and he had
probably one of his best seasons ever, arguably his best
season ever with twelve and a half sacks for the
Baltimore Ravens last year. He's coming off a nine and
twelve and a half sacks in the National Football League
(30:23):
in the twilight of his career as a specialty player.
I'm wondering how long he can sustain this because he's
the best he's been in a long time.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Now.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Is he healthy? Is he strongest thirty four years old?
Is he taking BPC one five to seven? Is he
taking his vitamins his minerals? Is the abiding by Russell M.
Nelson's admonition of take your vitamins, take your vitamins?
Speaker 3 (30:50):
You know, maybe he is.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
And if he is, by the way, he's wearing the
best cleat, the Jordan's the Jordan elevens. So a big, strong,
fast guy like him, you want the Jordan eleven highs
with a wat you know, footbed, you know, just so
you can you have, you know, some support and and
a lot of propulsion with.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
That that I thought he had vapors.
Speaker 4 (31:09):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
No one that's good at football wears vapor cleat.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
Sorry, And if you are gating football, eventually you won't
be because you've injured yourself. So that's one of the
reasons of longevity that that I would like to highlight
here with Cove. I know it's because he've been wearing
the Jordan cleats for probably the last five years. And
it's no there's no question that his cleat has something
to do with his performance over the last two years.
Speaker 6 (31:36):
I had to throw that in there because I won't
say any names, but I know closely to the cleat detective,
and he knows when people are making mistakes.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
I can verify always.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
So the former second round fortieth overall draft pick is
leading up to the hype, living up to the draft pick,
right yeah, and and and that's what's so tremendous to me.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
And can't wait to see.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
What he can do with Baltimore's a two times Super
Bowl champion, He's got two rings, He's got a Pro
Bowl in twenty twenty four. He's got a Pro Bowl
as a thirty three year old baby, would you know
what I mean? Like goodness, grace, And.
Speaker 7 (32:07):
He's good at social media, He's good at I mean,
he's got it. He's got a career ahead of him
beyond the football field. He's peaking late, absolutely, but he.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
Has a he has a good trajectory into the future.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
And the crazy thing, the reason why I like Kyle
so much is because he came to b Yu maybe
at the admonition of his mother and forcefulness of his
mother and what maybe he came here a little bit kicking,
his screaming, but then he embraced Brigham and now he
loves Brigham and he's a little bit of a kind
of a prodigal son, kind of grace Field path to
be yu. Was he perfect at b YU in every way,
(32:42):
shape or form. Is it pertains to like what we
deem is the perfect student athlete that embodies the Brigham way?
Maybe not, But we need Kyle van Noy in two
thous exactly. We need the Kyle van Noys nationally internationally
to be to speak to the nations, to be able
(33:02):
to speak to people that are non traditional Latter Day Saints,
right like you want that you want You're always trying
to bring Fred into this. There's enmity there I've and
maybe I've created it. Who's the greatest defense? But I
know exactly what you were doing though subconsciously, subconsciously, I
(33:24):
know what you're doing, and I'll tell you this much.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Fred Okay in the NFL has obviously had.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
A better career and he is highlighted as the best
defender coming out of BYU, maybe the greatest defender coming
out of b YU, Right, but I think Kyle Van
Noy if he can, if he can do this another
year or two, you know, I mean shoot like as
a specialty role player doing what he does best, which
(33:51):
is get after the passer in a two point stance
coming off the edge. You know, man, I need to me,
if you combine BYU and the NFL, I think there's
still a battle for all time best defensive player come
out of by when you give both resumes equal footing.
(34:13):
Fred was a good football player in college football and
became great in the back end of his career before
leaving to the NFL. But he maximized his potential in
the NFL became a true professional.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
And so it's inverted right from a.
Speaker 7 (34:29):
Like Steve Young peaked in the NFL much better than
at BYU, whereas some others.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Ty Depmer was opposite.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
So if you compare those two, right, it's like, well,
who's who's the better quarterback?
Speaker 3 (34:40):
Well, Ty was in the.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
League for fourteen years quarterback, but he's still in the
league for fourteen years.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
This is pretty impressive, you know what I mean?
Speaker 6 (34:48):
And it's it's Kyle Vanoyd. Like if you're asking me
to pick like three and this is why I'm going
with Kyle. And I've told Sean this and I'll sell
him this take in this business, I'm gonna always bring
Fred of cuss a debate. But what does Kyle have
on the right in the left hand, Yeah, I thought so,
Like I'm not being rude. I'm not being rude. Like
this is where it comes down to. We measure it
by what just it's like what a ring said for
(35:10):
the last time. I check every time Fred had been
to the Super Bowl, he gets matched up with a
certain quarterback and he can't stop him. And I'm not
trying to be rude now and I'm gonna say this,
Kyle's on the team, that that quarterback might now do
a certain quarterback that Andy reach coaching and if they
if he gets another super Bowl with the Ravens, oh, that.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
He putting that conversation out of reach.
Speaker 6 (35:30):
You cannot, if your favor one, to allow Kyle Vanoy
at thirty four to get another super Bowl, not with
the Patriots. That puts that discussion out there, like Fred, Yeah,
it might win this all said done if verywell could
be for But I think those rings you talk about
Hall of Fame, you talking about gold jacket Canton like
Kyle's already there.
Speaker 3 (35:48):
Fred's on his way. But I think those two Super
bowls get you in. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
Some people will try to say, well, the championship forty
nine Ers defense wasn't the issue.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
It was the Sampson forty nine. He's on the team off.
It was their quarterback.
Speaker 6 (36:03):
But brock Brady didn't play terrible last time I checked. Yeah,
one thirteen is what it is.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Anyway, Cougars in the Pros. All the players that are
gonna be playing on the Pros? Who you most intrigued by?
Who do you want to watch? And why?
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Chiefs versus Chargers, Kings of Swamatia.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
That'll be on YouTube six pm Mountain Time on That's
that's the night kicking off tonight Sunday, September seventh.
Speaker 3 (36:26):

Speaker 2 (37:06):
To the to the chagrin of all Utah fans, Zane
Train had a longer career and now a better career
in the NFL than Chase Hansen. And now look love
him former Loan Peak star, love my loan Peakers. But
I had to take don't hate on me, and uh,
but I've been validated.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
I've been vindicated.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Forty nine Ers at Seahawks, Red Warner. It's gonna be
on Fox two twenty five pm, Mountain Time, Texas at
at Rams, Texans at Rams, Puka Takua CBS two twenty
five pm Mountain Time. I find it very crazy that
Puka was like a top ten fantasy football pick this year,
like you know, and all the all the all the rankings.
I'm sure Bay Fans would just are just eating that up.
(37:50):
I only wish Taysum was healthy to be quarterback of
the New Orleans States. I wish it could happen anyway, Ravens.
That bill is my favorite game. Kyleve and o A,
NBC six twenty pm Mountain Time love it.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
There you go. That's Little Cougar's in.
