little player profile, gonna get into some Jack Kelly sound
post game of Stanford. Jack had a phenomenal game, Brett.

I'll just start there with you. What you like about
Jack Kelly's performances. Seemed like he was on the field
everywhere on Saturday.

Jack Kelly looked like a defensive end playing linebacker. Like
it just looks like anywhere you put him in the
front seven, whether it's middle, whether it's off the edge,
whatever you asked him to do, he could not be stopped.

He was a man on a mission.

Frankly, I think.

He wished they would have let him pass rush the
passer even more, he was incredible at dialing up everything
he was asked to do in this scary j Hill defense.

the game. Five total tackles for solo one assisted two
point five tackles for lost one second of force. Fumble Man.
That strip sackle was crazy, Jack Kelly, lookout for him.

why don't you tell us what was the keys to
the successful run? Defense against Stanford on Saturday.

I think obviously game plan is a huge part of that.
Coacho does a great job getting us ready throughout the week,
and then just really being there for each other. We
play for something bigger than ourselves, which is each other,
and I think that really helps us all come together
and rally.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Jack Kelly right there talking about how they were able
to successfully stop the run. Jack is not the overly explosive,
bubbly guy to talk, but I feel like this is
one of the better interviews. He said a lot about
that you really have to be strategic in how you
ask people questions if you want a specific answer. So
I felt like he said a lot right there in
this interview. But we're gonna keep going. Number two. Did

you feel like that safety took Stanford out of the game,
even though the scoreboard necessarily didn't reflect it, Jack, I
don't think we.

Were necessarily looking at that.

We're kind of thinking about this drive, the next drive,
the upcoming drive, so it's kind of taking to play
by play drive by drive.

So I mean, there was a great drive.

That we had in that over those couple of series,
but overall, we're just focusing on this drive.

Just focusing on that drive, play by play, one step
at a time. Look, the scoreboard didn't reflect the nature
of the game, but the defense looked like they pitched
the shutout, even though that they got three points. That's
how it looked on paper, even though in crunch time
it took the ball away when it matter most. But yeah,
that happened. Let's get to number three really quickly. Jack,
how would you evaluate your play against Stanford on Saturday.
Speaker 6 (03:37):
I say it was pretty good. Obviously I have a
lot to improve on.
Speaker 5 (03:40):
There's certain things where I needed to stay in my gap,
where I went in the wrong gap, just little things.
Speaker 6 (03:45):
So I think it was a good night. But I
can obviously get a lot better.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
He can't get a lot better. I'll tell you this
because I asked that question. He smiled when I asked
that question, because he had a fantastic game. Just to
remind people if you missed the game, here the stats.
He had five time little tackles for solo, one assist
at two point five tackles for loss, a strip sack
just so people know which goes with the force fumble
as well. Jack was phenomenal. He looks so fast coming

off that edge, Brad.

I'm telling you he for a guy who's that big,
he shouldn't be able to move that fast.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Yeah, he can move he can, he can, he can.
He can move fast, for sure. He's built different on
an edge. Like I keep saying, I'm saying, all show
bad boys, bad boys, what you're gonna do, what you're
gonna do when they come for you. Number seventeen is
a problem on the edge, and don't forget about number sixteen.
Ig is also going to be a problem as well.
And he'd account for him. Speaking of Ig, how nice

is it to have pretty boys?

He calls himself with you in that linebacker room, Jack.

It's awesome because I can learn from him, he can
learn from me, So it's like a great duo.

And obviously we got other guys.

He always Sarah, Miles Hall, A Skfusi, Max Alfred, So
we got a lot of guys in this linebacker room stacked.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I tried to get him to talk about himself and
I g a little bit more right there, and he
took a he opted out. He said everybody wasn't a
good answer. I tried, you could only try so much.
He gave a little tip but then he said, Miles
A saw those guys didn't see as too much on
on Saturday. I don't know what's going on with that obviously,
Chad Bryan Strawler didn't play. Hopefully you can get him back.

You're gonna need him for the rest of the season
as well. All those guys in those linebacker room. Salia
Sarah's nice nice with a capital nice. I was able
to spell it right this time. So I don't have
the best higher level education, but I have some. Let's
get the number five before we close it out, Jack,
what do you see in the film this week that
helped you have such a successful game against Stanford?
Speaker 6 (05:41):
When New Stanford was gonna run the ball.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
They're physical guys, So that was the main thing that
coach was preparing us for, is just be able to
stop the run because we knew they were physical upfront,
had some good backs, good old line, so that's the
main thing.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah, this Stanford team definitely can run the football, and
Uyu committed themselves to stop in the run and did
a really good job. Nice job of doing that. Yes,
they scored three points on him, but even though it
wasn't a shutout, the defense looked like it was in
mid season shape for sure. Radydumon, he gets his started
off with the pick, then comes Jack Kelly, then comes
volatile at the end. The defensive line is living up

to expectations to what we thought. Had a lot of
questions in the beginning of what it could be. Know
that they really haven't played any opponents, but a lot
of confidence and stuff that you can take forward. I
definitely think Keanu Tonavasa getting double team to help j
T Jack along the edge when you bring Isaiah Glasker.
J Hill called a phenomenal game. The blitzes were nice,
I really think And I'm gonna give credit to Ryan

Elgers because I didn't say this is a segment is

Jack Kelly and Isaiah Glasker were the best linebackers in
the Big twelve, and they are like and I mean
to say that like that's a that's a that's a

of how dominant Jack Kelly and Isaiah Glaskar. When you
lose them at the end of the season, it's gonna
be a big loss for I like the potential that
he has, and you're moving him back. I like Siali Sarah,
I like Shada, Brian Strata, but Jack Kelly, in Isaiah
Glaska the real deal Brett.

At one point in the game, I just felt bad
for Stanford because if you're the Stanford offensive coordinator, here's
the deal. You can either game plan for Jack Kelly,
you can game plan for Isaiah Glasker, or you could
game plan for Kean Utanavasa. But you cannot game plan
for all three. One of them is coming free. You
just have to decide pick out on the menu, which

one do you want, because one of them is coming through.
And that was the entire night while Stanford wasn't down.

Good football team, not a good offensive team at least.
Go Branson is Boo Boo and they just couldn't establish
the run because the Alis defense was so gosh dang good.
So it made them very one dimensional, to say the least.
But BYU showed up and did what he was supposed
to do, just like they did Week one. They dominated
(11:27):
on that in the Trench Warfare game, they dominated on
the defensive front. The only team that graded out higher
than BYU who faced a P four team was actually Oregon,
who demolished Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State col folks
man that was ugly. Oregon came in with a ninety
(11:50):
one point two grade BYU not too far but not
too far behind. At eighty eight point two. This defense
looked elite. This defense balled out.
Speaker 4 (12:03):

Bear Bachmeyer had a decent performance. I thought, maybe one
poor throw, but overall an efficient evening from your true freshman.
I've said it once, I'll say it again. Do not
expect bear Bachmeyer earlier in this season to win.

You football games.
Speaker 7 (12:22):
Do not expect him to look like a NFL quarterback
as a true freshman. You need everybody else around him
to buoy him up and to make him look great.
And he needs to be managing the offense, handed the
ball off, making good decisions, not turning the ball over,
and running. I think in short yardedge situations and red

zone opportunities.

Those are my takes on bear Bachmeyer.
Speaker 7 (12:50):
He was not one of the highest graded Big Twelve quarterbacks,
but he didn't have a bad grade either. I think
he's probably in the middle of the back. He did
not show up on CA M. Meller's top eight quarterbacks
of the Big twelve, but you know who did. And
this speaks to what I've stated time and time again
(13:11):
leading up to the twenty twenty five season. With a
true freshman at the helm, this offensive line needs to
be great, and they were. At left tackle, Isaiah Jada
ended up with an eighty seven point one grade that's
fifth in the national rankings From this week, Sonny ma
(13:32):
Cassini did okay as well, seventy five point six that's
sixty seventh. Not as good as we need it to be.
But Kyle super Choke, the SEU transfer, came in and
spelled Sonny and ended up at an eighty two point
six that's sixteenth in the nation.

Kyle Bruce Mitchell had an eighty four overall grade. He
comes in at fifteenth in the country. Right guard Austin
Leousa eighty two point one, nineteen teenth overall in the country.
And then Andrew Gentry, the Michigan Transfer, all six foot
eight of them, three hundred and twenty pounds of them,

was the first ranked right tackle in the nation at
eighty seven point one. Impressive work Andrew Gentry, very impressive,
most impressive.

Loved that LJ.

Martin had himself a day two. Did he get enough
toats is the question? Per Ronald the three man Weaver.
Ronnie says no. Ronnie says LJ needed more Toats, needed
more touches, especially in the first half. I think the

second half was a little bit nicer, a little bit
more on par. Thus far this season, LJ has twenty
si carries in two games, two hundred and forty one yards.
He's averaging nine point three yards per carry. He doesn't
have a touchdown yet, but technically he does.

I mean I was a little bit ticked off that
we did not have the skycam over.

I am. And I'm like, man, it's just every single time,

like the reps the Zebras were out there to town like.

drops and where BYU sits in the eight people?

Well, I mean because Arizona State lost. They fell out
obviously to Mississippi State, and they still should have been
ranked above BYU based on that because they played an
SEC opponent. Usf enters the conversation, they should, right, you
beat top twenty five boys, you beat top twenty Florida,
that has to be noted.

If they go and beat in Miami this's next week.
All say it by USF and that ball club, But no,
they got it right. And like I said, don't rank them.
Keep letting Utah win move up in the rankings, let
BYU be unranked, and then let BYU play Utah October

top top ten.

In the AP pole BYU dropped one spot, receiving ninety

nice win in week one over UCLA, UCLA ended up

In American Fork Today, Big twelve News, Mississippi State stunned
Arizona State twenty four to twenty. I can't believe Arizona State,
a ranked team that Brett yor Mark to me has

lauded as maybe the future crown Jewel of Now he
didn't say those exact words, but he is kind of
alluded to it. He wants a team to step up,
he wants a team to take the baton, he wants
a team to set themselves. Apart from the depth of
the parody and you know, the competition within the Big Twelve,

I do think there's a little bit of a pr
national subterfusion going on right now that the Big Twelve is.
It's just not a competitive lead. It's not a good league,
and they lose a lot versus P four teams, and
the data points are intriguing.

But losing the Mississippi State and the form and fashion
which they did was a travesty for the Big twelve.
Not the biggest travesty of the weekend, but that one hurt.
That one hurt. You gotta shore up the back end.

coverage on the back end. You better have proper leverage,
you better have good eye control. Defensive backssues did not.
Twenty four to twenty Mississippi State came away with the victory.
You're running out of time and opportunities for non conference

Utah got a convincing victory over cal Poly That media
likes Utah sixty three to nine. They're in the top
twenty five in both polls, and they moved up five
spots to number twenty. By you got to win over
Stanford in ACCFO, but no one is giving that team
that game any credence whatsoever. BYU actually dropped a spot

in the eight people to twenty seventh. They stayed the
same in the coaches poll, though twenty seven to three
was the victory over Stanford. Oregon just completely pummeled Oklahoma
State sixty nine to three. Wow have the mighty fallen?

the successful run? Defense against Stanford on Saturday.

I think obviously game plan is a huge part of that.
Coacho does a great job getting us ready throughout the week,
and then just really being there for each other. We
play for something bigger than ourselves, which is each other,
and I think that really helps us all come together
and rally.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Jack Kelly right there talking about how they were able
to successfully stop the run. Jack is not the overly explosive,
bubbly guy to talk, but I feel like this is
one of the better interviews. He said a lot about
that you really have to be strategic in how you
ask people questions if you want a specific answer. So
I felt like he said a lot right there in
this interview. But we're gonna keep going. Number two. Did

you feel like that safety took Stanford out of the game,
even though the scoreboard necessarily didn't reflect it, Jack, I
don't think we.

We're kind of thinking about this drive, the next drive,
the upcoming drive, so it's kind of taking to play

but overall, we're just focusing on this drive.

Just focusing on that drive, play by play, one step
at a time. Look, the scoreboard didn't reflect the nature
of the game, but the defense looked like they pitched
the shutout, even though that they got three points. That's
how it looked on paper, even though in crunch time
it took the ball away when it matter most. But yeah,
that happened. Let's get to number three really quickly. Jack,
how would you evaluate your play against Stanford on Saturday.

I say it was pretty good. Obviously I have a
lot to improve on.
Speaker 5 (03:40):
There's certain things where I needed to stay in my gap,
where I went in the wrong gap, just little things.
Speaker 6 (03:45):
So I think it was a good night. But I
can obviously get a lot better.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
He can't get a lot better. I'll tell you this
because I asked that question. He smiled when I asked
that question, because he had a fantastic game. Just to
remind people if you missed the game, here the stats.
He had five time little tackles for solo, one assist
at two point five tackles for loss, a strip sack
just so people know which goes with the force fumble
as well. Jack was phenomenal. He looks so fast coming

off that edge, Brad.

I'm telling you he for a guy who's that big,
he shouldn't be able to move that fast.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Yeah, he can move he can, he can, he can.
He can move fast, for sure. He's built different on
an edge. Like I keep saying, I'm saying, all show
bad boys, bad boys, what you're gonna do, what you're
gonna do when they come for you. Number seventeen is
a problem on the edge, and don't forget about number sixteen.
Ig is also going to be a problem as well.
And he'd account for him. Speaking of Ig, how nice

He calls himself with you in that linebacker room, Jack.

It's awesome because I can learn from him, he can

He always Sarah, Miles Hall, A Skfusi, Max Alfred, So
we got a lot of guys in this linebacker room stacked.

I tried to get him to talk about himself and
I g a little bit more right there, and he
took a he opted out. He said everybody wasn't a
good answer. I tried, you could only try so much.
He gave a little tip but then he said, Miles
A saw those guys didn't see as too much on
on Saturday. I don't know what's going on with that obviously,
Chad Bryan Strawler didn't play. Hopefully you can get him back.

You're gonna need him for the rest of the season
as well. All those guys in those linebacker room. Salia
Sarah's nice nice with a capital nice. I was able
to spell it right this time. So I don't have
the best higher level education, but I have some. Let's
get the number five before we close it out, Jack,
what do you see in the film this week that
helped you have such a successful game against Stanford?
Speaker 6 (05:41):
When New Stanford was gonna run the ball.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
They're physical guys, So that was the main thing that
coach was preparing us for, is just be able to
stop the run because we knew they were physical upfront,
had some good backs, good old line, so that's the
main thing.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah, this Stanford team definitely can run the football, and
Uyu committed themselves to stop in the run and did
a really good job. Nice job of doing that. Yes,
they scored three points on him, but even though it
wasn't a shutout, the defense looked like it was in
mid season shape for sure. Radydumon, he gets his started
off with the pick, then comes Jack Kelly, then comes
volatile at the end. The defensive line is living up
(06:16):
to expectations to what we thought. Had a lot of
questions in the beginning of what it could be. Know
that they really haven't played any opponents, but a lot
of confidence and stuff that you can take forward. I
definitely think Keanu Tonavasa getting double team to help j
T Jack along the edge when you bring Isaiah Glasker.
J Hill called a phenomenal game. The blitzes were nice,
I really think And I'm gonna give credit to Ryan
(06:36):
Elgers because I didn't say this is a segment is

the Big twelve, and they are like and I mean
to say that like that's a that's a that's a

of how dominant Jack Kelly and Isaiah Glaskar. When you
lose them at the end of the season, it's gonna
be a big loss for I like the potential that
he has, and you're moving him back. I like Siali Sarah,
I like Shada, Brian Strata, but Jack Kelly, in Isaiah
Glaska the real deal Brett.

At one point in the game, I just felt bad
for Stanford because if you're the Stanford offensive coordinator, here's
the deal. You can either game plan for Jack Kelly,
you can game plan for Isaiah Glasker, or you could
game plan for Kean Utanavasa. But you cannot game plan
for all three. One of them is coming free. You
just have to decide pick out on the menu, which

one do you want, because one of them is coming through.
And that was the entire night while Stanford wasn't down.

Go Branson is Boo Boo and they just couldn't establish
the run because the Alis defense was so gosh dang good.
So it made them very one dimensional, to say the least.
But BYU showed up and did what he was supposed
to do, just like they did Week one. They dominated

on that in the Trench Warfare game, they dominated on
the defensive front. The only team that graded out higher
than BYU who faced a P four team was actually Oregon,
who demolished Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State col folks
man that was ugly. Oregon came in with a ninety
(11:50):
one point two grade BYU not too far but not
too far behind. At eighty eight point two. This defense
looked elite. This defense balled out.
Speaker 4 (12:03):

Bear Bachmeyer had a decent performance. I thought, maybe one
poor throw, but overall an efficient evening from your true freshman.
I've said it once, I'll say it again. Do not
expect bear Bachmeyer earlier in this season to win.

You football games.
Speaker 7 (12:22):
Do not expect him to look like a NFL quarterback
as a true freshman. You need everybody else around him
to buoy him up and to make him look great.
And he needs to be managing the offense, handed the
ball off, making good decisions, not turning the ball over,
and running. I think in short yardedge situations and red

zone opportunities.

Those are my takes on bear Bachmeyer.
Speaker 7 (12:50):
He was not one of the highest graded Big Twelve quarterbacks,
but he didn't have a bad grade either. I think
he's probably in the middle of the back. He did
not show up on CA M. Meller's top eight quarterbacks
of the Big twelve, but you know who did. And
this speaks to what I've stated time and time again
(13:11):
leading up to the twenty twenty five season. With a
true freshman at the helm, this offensive line needs to
be great, and they were. At left tackle, Isaiah Jada
ended up with an eighty seven point one grade that's
fifth in the national rankings From this week, Sonny ma
(13:32):
Cassini did okay as well, seventy five point six that's
sixty seventh. Not as good as we need it to be.
But Kyle super Choke, the SEU transfer, came in and
spelled Sonny and ended up at an eighty two point
six that's sixteenth in the nation.

Kyle Bruce Mitchell had an eighty four overall grade. He
comes in at fifteenth in the country. Right guard Austin
Leousa eighty two point one, nineteen teenth overall in the country.
And then Andrew Gentry, the Michigan Transfer, all six foot
eight of them, three hundred and twenty pounds of them,

was the first ranked right tackle in the nation at
eighty seven point one. Impressive work Andrew Gentry, very impressive,
most impressive.

Martin had himself a day two. Did he get enough
toats is the question? Per Ronald the three man Weaver.
Ronnie says no. Ronnie says LJ needed more Toats, needed
more touches, especially in the first half. I think the

more on par. Thus far this season, LJ has twenty
si carries in two games, two hundred and forty one yards.
He's averaging nine point three yards per carry. He doesn't
have a touchdown yet, but technically he does.
