Courageous Doctors is a newscast about healthcare topics of concerned
to everyone, from health and safety tips to recall notices
(00:22):
and medical news. Here's your host, doctor Barry Pristosky.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Hello, everybody, Welcome back to Courageous Doctors, the new show
for you and your doctor. As always, we'll discuss the epidemics,
the COVID and potential bird flu. We'll talk about government
regulations like Obamacare, move on to other healthcare news, and
then finally health and safety tips. So let's begin looking
(00:53):
at the epidemics. Health Day reminds us that one out
of every five Americans have long COVID. It used to
be we thought that it was just very few of us.
It's terrible. If you really ask people since twenty twenty
since COVID, most of them will tell you they just
(01:14):
never feel the same. Again. Let's see, let's look at
Reuters workers in the state of Washington who cleaned chicken
farms had bird flu with red eyes and respiratory symptoms.
So we're seeing bird flu in the workers. In fact,
(01:37):
doctor Leanna when in her article, said that seven percent
of all dairy workers had actual antibody showing past bird
flu infection even though they didn't even know they were infected,
as opposed to these workers in Washington that actually have
infection had clinical symptoms. So the CDC is looking to
(01:59):
test all. Probably more concerning was this Canadian team who
was not exposed to any farms and is very ill
now with the birthlow. All right, let's move on to
government regulations Bambacare Modern healthcare. This is very very concerning. Still,
(02:21):
the CDC says that seven point six percent, or twenty
five million Americans are still without health insurance. Let's see
the Star Ledger says that hospitals are now trending to
treat more patients at home, but they need money from
congressional laws to give money to the Center for Medicare
(02:45):
to cover these expenses. But hospitals would like to treat
more people at home, send them home. And I got
to tell you that's my experience. Almost everybody that goes
to the emergency room. No matter how sick they are,
they come home very you get admitted. U. Let's see
Star Ledger the consolidation of hospitals in New Jersey mergers
(03:10):
has led to increase patient medical debt. And that's from
the Urban Institute, and Joel Canter, I believe, commented on
that from the Rutger Center State Health Policy. Joel's really
great with cranking out all those numbers. All right, let's
move on to other healthcare news. As usual, I start
(03:32):
with recalls, and my disclaimer is that since I'm doing
these shows late, a lot of these products were probably
already pulled from the shelf, and it probably is already
safe at this point, but you never know, so I'm
saying this just so you can double check and make
(03:54):
sure with wherever you get these products that you're not
storing them in your freezer, or that if you're still
buying them, that they've actually been pulled. All right, I've
got a whole page of these, so let's go through quickly.
Eating Well reminds us that the soft cheese from Savencia
has lyesteria poisoning, and Kirkland smoked salmon has lyesteria. Treehouse
(04:19):
Frozen Waffles and Pancakes has lysteria, and pork and beef
have lysteria from the Ready to Eat U shang Yu
Saha and g NPR says there's E coli in restaurant beef.
You know, restaurants to beef sent to restaurants from Detroit
(04:40):
Wolverine Company and it was the same strain. Interestingly enough,
that was in the McDonald's poisoning. Star Ledger reminds us
the E coli and carrots. Okay, you guys, I'm going
to read these very slowly. There's a long list. This
is where you buy carrots. Greenway Farm three sixty five
(05:03):
col Organic, Nature's Promise, Oh Organic, Trader Joe's, Wegman's and others.
Now for the baby carrots. Long list, Bunny Luv three
sixty five col Organic, Green Wise Compliments, Full Circle, Good Gather,
(05:26):
Greenway Farms, market Side, Nature's Promise, Rally's Organics, President's Choice,
Simple Truth Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Wegman and Wholesome Pantry. So
be careful with those carrots. They're poison Kirkland eggs are
(05:47):
poisoned with salmonella. So Kirkland had both poisoned smoked salmon
and poisoned eggs. Wonderful. MoneyWatch reminds us that sun fed
cucumbers have salmonella. Sunfed cucumbers, Fox, I think, is just
repeating about the salt cheese debris and the canborea with
(06:08):
lysteria and telling us they found it. Fox founded its
algae and market Basket and others. We're still seeing lead
in cinnamon and they added the super brand superbrand b
R A and DT. Whatever that is bread with metal
is from Canada. Country harvests wonderbread, great value in President's Choice.
(06:33):
Let's see what's this bacteria embottled water and club beverages
from Berkeley Springs, Okay, Canada. Pistachio nuts have salmonilla called Nutworks.
Walmart has plastic and the great value cheese, Danish and
cinnamon rolls. And Tom of Maine has mold and baia
(07:00):
in cosmetics and toilet trees. And USA Today dog treats
with sal manila, the Carolina Prime Tech and the Hollywood
feed Carolina made chicken chips.
Speaker 1 (07:15):

Speaker 1 (08:53):
All courageous Doctors continues with doctor Barry Price toask.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
All right, let's move on to other health news. The CDC.
We're seeing epidemic of walking pneumonia called Michael pliasma. Seeing
a lot of it here in the office, Fox says,
den gay fever's going up. Seeing in that's what we
usually see in the you know, the Caribbean, like Puerto Rico,
(09:22):
but California, Texas and our southeast coast has some den
gay fever. Independent says uk As the meningita. See, that's
actually part of the shots we gave so to the
sixth graders, So that would cover it here. All right,
let's move on to the final category, health and safety tips.
(09:46):
Let's see what we have here. Oh, a lot of
individual authors. I like that, there's a lot of people
I like to read captain zucchini similar to the family
of cucumber, squash and melons. It has a if that
bitter chemical in the zucchini is too bitter, it's something
(10:09):
called que curb by tassinq curb by tasin Uh. People
have actually died with liver failure because this is a
toxic poison. So if you're zucchini or cucumber squasher, melons.
But she specifically pointed out zucchini, if you cook it,
(10:31):
if it still has that really bitter taste, throw it out.
You can be poisoned chemical burns. A guy with squeezing
limes went out into the sun and got a sun
chemical reaction from the chemical in the line called furro
cumerans fual cumerans. Interesting, So if you squeeze limes, don't
(10:55):
go out in the sun, And if your zucchini is bitter,
throw it outright. Let's see Washington Post. You know how
our water is all chlorinated. Apparently some of the byproducts
are being tested for possible toxicity. Wonderful, So we can't
even clean our own water now, nothing definitive, so let's
(11:16):
wait on the findings with that, so we should still
keep drinking filter water. At least CDC reminds us that
you got to go up to at least one hundred
and sixty degrees to kill your E coli in your food.
One sixty five for poultry, one forty five for fish.
Now they said one forty five for veal, pork, lamb, shocks,
(11:38):
and steaks, But to be honest with you, I kicked
those up to the one sixty five too. The problem
with carrots, remember we mentioned all those carrots poison is
people don't cook them long enough because they don't like
the taste of soggy cooked carrots. But then you just
get poison with your E coli. But see Medical Press
(12:02):
Vegetarian diets. You know how we always say they're good
for you. Well, guess what. Some veggies have a lot
of processed foods, breakfast cereals, candies, noodles, fake meats, and pizza.
So be careful if you're going veggie. Just watch your cows.
Sarah garone says, wash your rice. If you wash your rice,
(12:28):
you'll also remove nutrients. Better to boil it and then
throw away the water, and that'll get rid of half
of the arsenic that it was grown in. That's why,
you know, we pediatricians now try to steer the newborns
away from rice cereals with the recommendations of our academy
(12:50):
that go more with the osinal. Even though technically it's
safe to eat. Most people don't like the idea of
giving their newborn arsenic with see Hillary Mayor tips on
freezing food. Oh, here's a good one. Tight seal it
to avoid a freezer burned. You know when if you
(13:11):
get wet and then it gets frozen, you get a burn.
You get burned food. Remember that freezing does not kill
the bacteria, So if you're refreezing cooked food, make sure
it's not kept out longer than two hours. Two hours
is always the key. If you listen to any of
the new shows and the government and food experts and
an infectious Disease, etc. Barbara Bowen. Foods to avoid if
(13:35):
you're having diarrhea. Most of this is common sense. But
you know, dairy foods, we always say, but they say
non fat yogurt is good because the fatty foods, gassy foods,
acid and spice are bad. Carbonated carbonated drinks or bad.
Most of that's common sense, Katie Henson. Your eggs in
the fridge, keep them in the cart and it'll protect
(13:56):
them from all the odors in the fridge. Make sure
you put them in less than two hours. I usually
guind my eggs last when I go shopping, to make
sure I get them home before two hours. And don't
put them by the door because it's not cold enough.
Let's see. This was actually the longest part of the show,
but we're almost there. Kristin Nunez. Foods to never eat
(14:20):
on an empty stomach. Oh, this is some really good
stuff here. We're getting you guys. We had good tips,
like about the burns from zucchini and the water we drink,
veggie dice, too many cows, how to boil your rice
and not just wash it, tips on freezing. We had
some good stuff, good stuff. Let's see, Kristin, what's she say?
(14:42):
Foods to never eat on an empty stomach. Ah, this
is interesting. I would fail this every time coffee or
caffeinated teas it gives you acid. Citric gives your acid.
Yogurt gives your lactic acid. Spicy foods with capsaicin hurts
your stomach. Sugar foods give you diarrhea. I would fail
this one, you guys, because I make all those mistakes.
(15:05):
Let's see, we're almost done. Carolyn Malcolm reminds us the
value of cabbage has a lot of vitamin CK and
anti inflammatory, especially the red cabbage. Medical Press Washington University
School of Medicine study the effects of coffee increasing the
(15:27):
lost sun loss in bacter in the gut, and they're
awaiting results of what that means. Like, why when you
drink coffee do you get this loss in bacteria in
your gut? What does that mean? Cameron Alexa Wimberley gives
us diabetes friendly lunches, So what are diabetes friendly lunches?
(15:52):
Roasted sweet potato with beets to interapts with greens, cucumber
sooner wraps with greens and cucumbers, colliflowers, salads, chicken and
cabbage soup, pisto salmon with quenwa bowls with green beans, olives,
and feta cheese. One last one, you guys were almost son.
(16:15):
This was a short one. Megan Ginsburg. What are some
anti inflammatory dinners? Spinach in tuna noodle casserole, lemon garlic,
chicken with potatoes, Brussels sprouts, baked fish like halibate with
roasted potatoes and mushrooms, Cheesy sweet potato with baked bean casserole,
(16:37):
creamy moistened pasta with spinach, mushroom and tomatoes, and chicken
Enchilada's verities. All Right, you guys, I enjoyed doing this
new show. Hopefully you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I
will wish you a very happy holiday season Hanikha and
Christmas and whatever else is coming up new Year, and
(16:57):
hopefully we'll see you again within a muff or two.
You all take care now.
