about healthcare topics of concern to everyone, from health and safety tips to recall

(00:21):
notices in medical news. Here's yourhost, doctor Barry Prestoski. Welcome again
to Courageous Doctors, the news showfor you and your doctor. It's good
to have you back again. Whereat the beginning of the summer. So
we'll have a few summary things tosay. The general format, we start

(00:44):
off with information on COVID updates,on government regulations we call Obamacare, other
general health news, and then weend with some health and safety tips.
So let's begin on some COVID updates. First of all, as you know,
President Biden has ended the Public HealthEmergency, so most newspapers and hospitals

(01:07):
and the Johns Hopkins Group they're nolonger recording COVID statistics, so I probably
won't have those for you, whichI've been doing. You know frequently throughout
the last three years. Let's seethe new variant that XBB. They were
saying it can show up like theiologies with red ithis. So you know,

(01:33):
we've just come through our trees andnow we're going into grasses. And
it's been pretty bad here in Jersey. So a lot of people have read
it GIS and we've been treating themlike allergies. But some of them we've
been doing COVID tests if they seemeda little ill, just to make sure
we're not missing COVID. CNN reportsthat the oh this is important, Some

(01:57):
pilot COVID and eighteen home tests lastmonth were recalled due to bacterial contamination.
So please check if you have thesepilot COVID tests. It's old news,
but you may still have some hangingaround. The Washington Post in USA today
reported on a journal a Gamma ReportJournal of American Medical Association. It was

(02:22):
a large study and it sort ofsummarized twelve key long COVID symptoms. We've
been for years now, we've gonequite extensibly into what long COVID is.
There's been a lot on TV aboutit, but this huge study zero then
on twelve of them so I'll justnamed them brain fog. We're all familiar.

(02:43):
It's really, really oh, it'sjust so frustrating any of you that's
had it. In the beginning ofthe epidemic. I had nine months of
weakness from it, and brain FOG'sterrible fatigue, dizziness. Heart computations is
a real big one. We seea lot of that chest pain, more
of shortness of breath, chronic coughing. We get a lot of chronic sinuses.

(03:08):
The loss of face and smell isstill out there. You know,
some gi discomfort, you know now, abnormal body movements some people have like
twitches and jerks, and general lossof libido and in sense of wealth feeling.
Let's go on to Obamacare, governmentgovernment rags. So the patient Engagement

(03:34):
hi T News Service. This isvery upsetting. A quarter of Americans,
according according to the Federal Reserve FederalReserve, say their healthcare costs have prevented
them from having access to care. That is extremely scary. Now, how
much of that is they don't havemuch of their savings left over from the

(04:00):
COVID money they got. How muchof it is maybe losing their insurance or
inflation costs. I'm not really sure, but see New York Times. The
United States Surgeon General is warning onthe risk of depression and anxiety in youth
exposed to social media. This isa real big thing. I see c
SPAN all the time unless c SPANjunkie. I'm always looking at congressional hearings

(04:26):
and they're always talking to the bigcompanies, you know, FaceTime, Google
all of them about not letting kidsget depressed and commit suicide. Let's see
the United States Preventive Services Task Force. Oh, this is important. There's

(04:46):
an update on Mammogrand's mammogram screening. It will now start at forty years old
instead of fifty. I did notknow that, CNN. The CDC has
updated the indoor ventilation guidelines, andthat is for all your people that have
to accommodate restaurants and things office spacewhere you have to put in special air

(05:14):
filters. It wants the air tocirculate five air changes per hour if you
can calculate them. But see UnitedStates Department of Aquaculture is considering eliminating chocolate
milk and youth school lunch programs,so it could be no more chocolate milk

(05:34):
for your kids at school. StarLedger the Let's see, there's a bill
in the Assembly or Senate that isforcing labeling baby wipes as don't flush down
the toilet. Oh, please giveme a break, people, Please don't

(05:56):
flush anything down the toilet is veryexpensive plumbing. Okay, let's go on
to other healthcare news. There's arecall on the Gold Medal General Mills flower
it has salmonella and on ground kumanLapari foods with salmonella, and CNN says

(06:20):
that we're still getting recalls on theEgercare artificial tiers that had pseudomonas in it.
People have lost their vision and evendied and Deltan farm tiers and others.
So if you're buying artificial tiers, buy it from a pharmacist and asked

(06:41):
them if they're one's recalled. Andin terms of the Gold Medal and the
ground Kumanu, just find out ifit's still being recalled. That's taken care
of. Let's see monkey pox andpox has started up again in Chicago Independent
News as the United United Kingdom Englandis experiencing diphtheria. You guys, I've

(07:06):
been practicing forty years out here inJersey. I have never seen good theory
I never thought I would see it. This is extremely scary. Diphtheria.
You know, it forms, itcogs a big thick pussy webs that close
off your throat and you literally suffocateto death. Eighty seven cases already,

(07:27):
three of them have already died, and they were mostly unvaccinated. Boy,
you got to get your vaccines.Ridiculous. But see Washington Post. There's
an increase in tuberculosis. We're alwayson the outlook for that. BBC.
Then gay and Argentina kills forty Yeah, then gay fever. Nothing to fool

(07:53):
around with. Let's see some peoplewere on a farm drinking raw milk and
gotty collide poisoning. That's not toosmart. What's the Star Ledger saying?
Increase in throat cancer? Of course, that's due to that HPV virus,
the papilloma virus, the ones thatwe try to give these shots to.

(08:13):
You know, the shots can startas early as like second third grade and
they go all the way up tothe mid forties. I'm too old for
the shots, but I wish Icould have had it. It's scary.
I don't want to get throw cancer. So it's mainly from increase in sexual
transmission and this is the virus youget cervical cancer, throw cancer all that.

(08:37):
Let's see, ringworm is now drugresistant. Some ring worm is drug
resistant. So if your ring wormis not going away right away, let
your doctor know you could be needingspecial drugs or increase amounts of drugs.
Star Ledger. We're still seeing threehundred and one drugs in shortage, including

(09:01):
adderall a, mock sill cancer drugs, anti pyretics like motor intawanol injections,
antibiotic injections, other injections I Vsailin for dehydration, etc. Etc.
And this was according to the Universityof Utah Drugs infost Service. You guys
have seen a lot of CENTI hearingson this, and you know, as

(09:26):
I said, I'm watching a lotof c spans. They highlight raw drug
materials coming from China and India thatwe need to make our drugs here in
America. Supply issues with the boatsbeing detained and not coming over all sorts
of reasons. And again I've saida million times, we got to start

(09:50):
making this stuff in the US ofA. Let's see Reuters the FDA find
finds safety profile favorable on using Thisis a big one. RSV vaccine in
pregnancy. That is huge because ifyou can you know now we're thinking about

(10:11):
this very new RSC vaccine. Itjust came out. It's so exciting.
We're I'm sure when I see myinternists, I'm sure she's going to offer
it to me where it's not okayfor kids yet, but it's okay for
adults. It just came out,and if you can give it to a
pregnant woman, you might be ableto protect the baby because it's the babies

(10:31):
that are high risk RSV. Isthat fron titus we see in the fall
and it was a really bad oneand I tell you kids were just literally
choking all night. It's terrible.So let's that's really good news. Let's
see the oh epinephrine can be givennasally. That's exciting. I've never seen

(10:52):
that done, but that's exciting.Washington Post. People that are using peanut
allergy skin patches and toddlers. It'sshowing good promise and study don't go away.

(12:46):
continues with doctor Barry Price to ski. Okay, let's move on to health
and safety tips. First, letme start with this article. It just
came out the I can tell youwhat magazine it's from. Oh, Fox
Business, It's from Fox. It'ssomething called chroming, one of those stupid

(13:13):
TikTok things that I wish they'd getrid of. The whole damn thing.
These girls are dying. Chroming camefrom the old term chroming paint, from
chrome paint where you you smell thefumes from the paint or gases or things.
And anyway, the kid died. It's not very pretty. Let's see

(13:37):
what else. The American Academy ofPediatrics says to avoid sunscreens with oxy ben
zone. Well, yeah, Iremember I told you guys, I do
some summary stuff oxy ben zone.Remember, there's clear things in your sunscreen.
Those are the chemicals, and there'sthick things. That's the barrier protection.

(13:58):
That's there's oxide and titanium dioxide. So the Academy is preferring the titanium
dioxide. Thinks oxide that thick stuffyou rub on your skin and you have
to keep putting it on when youcome out of the water in every couple
hours, and it doesn't like theclear stuff. But it's it's not saying
all the clear stuff will give youcancer. It's specifically zeroing in on oxy

(14:22):
benzone. So let's see. Italso reminds you you should use at least
a level fifteen some protection indication.Don't forget hats and clothing. Don't forget
that just because it's cloudy, theremay still be sun. And don't forget
you have to be six months oldto begin putting this suntanned stuff on and

(14:46):
be careful. Some of these sunscreenshave been recalled because they had the chemical
benzene in them. Benzine is anorganic solvent and industrial solvent. It will
damage your skin and inside if it'sabsorbed. If you're on certain medicine,
she may be more prone to sunburned. You may want to stay out of

(15:07):
the sun doc cyclean if you're takingnon steroidals like motorin or antipsychotic drugs.
In other words, ask your pharmacistif your drug will make you more prone
to get a sunburn. Okay, let's see star Ledger. The American Lung
Association does a survey every year andit has said that the ozone in New

(15:30):
Jersey is improving, but not thefine particles. Fine particles are from the
soot from combustion, whereas the ozoneis. You know that the smog cloudiness
fine particles or from combustion. Sothe combustion we're still having trouble on.

(15:52):
It is a little better in SouthJersey and in Hunterdon County, Mars County,
and Hudson. For the fine particles. See rachel as tips on avoiding
food poisoning while traveling. She hasa lot of interesting articles. Rachel n
G n G. I may pronounceit wrong. She said, don't use

(16:14):
taff water to brush your teeth unlessyou really know, you know, like
the hotel you're in. Don't useice cubes because that's from the water.
I'd never put ice in my drinks, only bottled water. Eat hot foods,
and if you're gonna eat fruits, peel them first. But see general
eating tips. We'll just end withthis some fun thing. It looks like

(16:38):
this is a much quicker new showtoday. But that's good because you guys
need to get out of the beach. Eating tips. Pine nuts can leave
a metal taste in your mouth.I use pine nuts from my pestol sauce.
I haven't had that problem, butinteresting, you can leave a metal
taste hard boiled eggs in the fridge. Be careful less than one week.

(17:02):
Don't go over a week. Dailymeal which is a good news letter I
like, says if you're cooking rice, put it back in the fridge within
two hours, and don't keep itmore than five days. Here's one.
Never wash your grapes until you're readyto use them. Apparently if you watch

(17:22):
them and then put them back inthe fridge, you may contaminate them with
bacteria from the water or something.Oh in the past, We've talked a
lot about mercury and fish. Thearticle said, be careful with tile fish,
marlin, and white tuna in sushi. Use farm tilapia from Honduras in

(17:48):
Mexico and Ecuador, but not fromChina. Farm telapio. Avoid China.
Careful with tile fish, marlin, white tune. You know the big fishes
they have mercury. Use farm salmonfrom Nova Scotia and British Columbia and UK.
Those are good. Let's see whatis eating well? Have to say

(18:08):
that's another good news service. Probioticsare good. What are probiotics? Those
are all your fermented foods, likeyou know, all your commenced kimchi and
yogurt and all that stuff. Theyall have the lacto bacteria. They have

(18:30):
the different healthy bacteria that make yourgun healthy. Prebiotics. Prebiotics are things
that feed the bacteria, like vegetablesand fruits, pea, milk is good.
Oh, here's some tips for thoseof you that have heartburn. They
say, use oatmeal, alo verapenalt, cantle, open honeydoo mill and

(18:52):
and bananas. And lastly, eatthis and not that. Other's interesting.
How am with this? Foods thatlower mail test posteroon. I think they're
pretty much saying, you know,if you eat a lot of sugary foods,
processed meats, sausages, fast foods, breads, pastries, all that

(19:12):
stuff, just try to healthy andkeep your general libido and energy level up.
All right, gang, this hasbeen fun. It's been short today,
but good luck. I'll try tolater on in the summer. You
know, do another news show andenjoy. Be safe out there. God
bless and good talking to you again. Courageous Doctors Pioneers and Heroes. Executive
