Speaker 1 (00:02):
This previous weekend was a four thousand dollars event. It
was an unsanctioned at dirt car modified show. But Ray
Cable picked up his second victory of the season at
Winchester Speedway. And obviously, with that said, why trying so
hard to break through in victory lane for this track
(00:25):
this year? He has right now? Momentum wise, I would
say put the ninety nine and the ninety on your
billfold to try to win here tonight. But obviously, as
we mentioned in hot lapse, there is an amazing group
of drivers on the entry list here to race as well.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Oh no doubt you got former winners this year. Mitch
Thomas of course has won here this year. Of course
Justin Collins a former track champion. Got Glenn Elliott also
a winner here, Michael wilt Tabella, you never could count
him out, Mike Franklin, former track champion. As we mentioned,
(01:03):
Joey Polvoy recently won a modified race at the Potomac Speedway.
In of course, Cody Williams is won here this season
and TJ. De Haven, a former track champion here at Winchester.
Cody Oliver's won here before along with Frank Cable, so
we got a lot of cars going to be very
tough in that modified. Again the track record Todd Ninheiser
(01:27):
at fifteen point two four to seven. That is the
one lap track record here at Winchester. As looks like
great job by our track maintenance. True getting. So as
we get them off, we're gonna be ready to go
for qualifying.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Mm hm, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
I told him.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
All right, We're about ready to send him out. So
ladies and gentlemen qualify. It is about to get underway
here for the dirt car Modified Mafia Tour here at
the Winchester Speedway. They're getting ready to hit the racetrack.
(02:52):
Qualifying underway. M hm, So, ladies and gentlemen, it is
time for qualifying. Here comes Mitch Thomas to ninety seven,
(03:14):
ready to bring him out. The first three including Typhoon
tight in order from Morrisville, North Carolina, and Mike Franklin
from right here at Winchester. Three amazing hot shoes ready
to go here in qualifying, and Mitch Thomas will set
the bar. Mitch Thomas said that number ninety seven entry,
(03:34):
ladies and gentlemen, the driver from Oakland, Maryland, and the
Elite chassis with a Corey Race Engine will be the
man to set the bar fifteen eight twenty five to
a fifteen eight eight nine.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
Your first three are on the board.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Great run by men. Mitch Thomas. Next three Justin Colmar
Track champion Chris Arnold, winner last two times and Michael
Altebelle former winner Eric Winchester.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
They had Justin coullhim on the racetrack.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
That blue and black number ninety five coming atsche there's
the Motoka Flash Chris Arnold, the inaugural series champion. He
won the North end the South championship and right now
Arnold in that at Well Exterior Services number ninety nine.
Working around here, Beat Built race car, Earl Remy race Engine,
(04:28):
Don Motorsports, Jdi Shox and more on the ninety nine
Double U. We'll see where he ends up, and what
do you know, he annihilates the time for Mitch Thomas,
Ladies and gentlemen. It is a fifteen seven ninety seven,
fifteen seven ninety seven for the Motoka Flash. Chris Arnold,
(04:51):
the ninety nine Double U, trying to go for three
straight wins. Competing here at Winchester, up next win at
natural Bridge.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
It's in trouble at turn one to two. There's Glenn Elliot.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Glenn Elliot from a big Maryland, a super late malamaa
fight hotshoe, he's ready to roll behind him they come
to the white flag. Is the number thirty one from Gaffney,
South Carolina. That is Stephen Padola and the Padola excavated entry.
And then you got the number eleven right there of
Robert Kramer. Drivers coming down to the line. They'll take
(05:34):
the checkered flag. We'll see where they end up. And
Chris Arnold highest man in that last group was Stephen Padola.
Remember the top six go to the at Well exterior
(05:55):
services climb to the pole. Everyone else everyone else will
have to go.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Whoa are flipping?
Speaker 4 (06:06):
My goodness?
Speaker 1 (06:07):
That is Cole Hilton, the pride out of Concord in
the Charlotte area of North Carolina. And Cole Hilton has
went up in the air and you see the outcome
of how badly damaged the ninety nine is. Cole Hilton
is beside himself and frustrated.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Everyone please stay off the track until we get the
ambulance or track officials. Everyone else please stay off the track.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Cole Hilton is I mean over the top roof of
his car. And we are also understanding that we have uh, well,
Cole Hilton getting out of the car. We have another
person that we're checking out over there, and you can
see how frustrated, obviously Cole Hilton is. It looked like
(07:20):
he yeah, look at Cole Hilton. If you can, if
our turn one camera man can zoom in, obviously we
can say he's okay, but you can just see the
the heartbreak, just pure frustration. And then we have somebody
(07:47):
else that we're trying to get checked out over there
on the other side of the car. Cole Hilton just
looking at the beaten, battered, bruised number ninety nine as
we are under the red flag here and qualifying his
(08:07):
car up in the air, it got airborne, tumbled a
couple of times. He tumbled a couple of times, and
then now he just walks around and Jimmy, you can
see him holding the Hans device. We gotta paint a
picture for our radio audience, but for those watching you
(08:30):
can see him holding the Hans device. You can just
see how dejected he is. Most importantly he does climbing
out of the car. We have somebody else that will
checking out as well on the passenger side of the car.
And right now we're just working on trying to clear
the accident up. But that's heartbreak for Cole Hilton, that is.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
But the main thing is Cole is okay. He's out
of the car. Fans, he is okay. And again we
want to thank the Tri County Transport. Without them, we
do not race. We want to thank them for being
there in their treading. Christ needs you at the racetrack.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Please turn Chris eating, Chris Eating. You're needed in turn
to now, Chris Eaton, we need you in turn two now.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
But the main thing is the car held together, and
that's the best news of all. Safety has come a
long way in racing. That's why we got rules, fans, and.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
And I promise you there is a vigorous rule book
and safety for the dirt car modified Mafia Tour that
have to be followed to the letter from the World
Racing Group.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
And we got one right here at the Winchester Speedway.
That's why we got rules. You can go to our
website Winchesterbaspeedway dot com. In all of our classes, but
why driver's safety always number one and as the best
news of all, Cole Hilton gets to walk away a
(10:31):
wow night like that man.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
That's tough.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
And what a tough break for the driver.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Cole Hilton obviously got his first career win in the
dirt car modified Mafia to Wear back in May at
County Line Raceway.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
So optimistic.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
It has been a up and down roller coaster ride
over the years for the driver from the Concord Charlotte area.
Finally got again that win at Elm City. Felt that
things were on the curve turning things around for the
driver and then problems where sometimes he would have engine
(11:22):
issues many many years ago, back and back and forth
with engine problems. And now you see him looking over
his number ninety nine machine and we're working on clearing
things up. We have a cleanup going on with what's
going on in turn number two. For those that are
watching on Sports Action TV. I had a great interview
(11:46):
with the promoter and owner of not only the Winchester
Speedway and Gunner's Honey this afternoon, mister Greg Gunner. As
we are under red fly qualifying, we'll resume from Winchester
and we'll have his interview to cover that time here
from Winchester Virginia right now under red flag after a
(12:06):
Coal Hilton flip in qualifying.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
Hello, Hello us.
Speaker 6 (14:03):
SA USA.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Obviously to give you an update of what's going on
over there in turn number one and two about got
things cleared up, obviously if you're looking on the hook
the ninety nine of Cole Hilton's car now getting ready
to have the dreadful toe vacation back to the overflow
and survey the damage. You know, I was kind of
(16:30):
optimistic talking with Don Mercer, our race director, and I said.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
How bad can it? How bad is it? Is? He done?
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Could it get fixed now? Sometimes the eye can confuse us.
Sometimes we think cars could be completely destroyed. They'll get
in there, they'll tinker, they're beaten, batter and bang, get
out the sledgehammers, the bare bond tape for the next thing.
You know, you'll see these guys roll out. However, of
catching the tail end of that flip and seeing the
damage with the halo bars and more of the suspension,
(16:59):
the toe in, then the shocks, I don't think we'll
see the ninety nine for the rest of the night.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
It looks like a tough break for Cole Hilton, and
but the main thing is gonna Cole is okay, and
certainly safety has come a long way since we first started,
and I'll tell you haven't. That's why we have rules
here at the Winchester Speedway that they build safe race cars.
(17:24):
We've got ARC Racing, Rock and Chassis, other chassis as
well do a great job getting these chassis cars. As
we're going to resume qualifying, we got Joey Polvoy won
a Potomac last week and On Lacy in twenty eight.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Get back to qualifying.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
For those that are joining us on Sports Action TV,
we can tell you that the ninety nine of Hilton
has gone behind the wall.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
We will now go back.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
To the resumption of the two remaining cars on track,
and I believe that is the number twenty eight of
Owen Lacy and Joey Povoy in the number fifty one.
The fossil there, yeah in his car.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
So great job by own Lacy to avoid that flipping
car of Cole Hilton as well.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Oh guys, yeah, what's out look out.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
Track mainten his crew, he's got to do a little
more work.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
And yeah, it sounds like what they're going to do
is they're actually gonna put the they're going to put
the modifieds in the pits here and there's gonna be
a little skid steer work that's.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
Gone going there was right now.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
They're trying to work that track back in and just
try to flatten out the surface, if you will. And
once we can get that done on the clay here
in corners one and two, we'll get right back into qualifying.
But they're gonna bring the cars on Pitt Road for
just a moment so we could check it out. Hey,
by the way, Sports Action TV where you need to be.
(19:22):
Next week, we've got coverage of not only the Big
O Tribute, if for the first time ever, gonna be
at Paradise Speedway in of course, seller South Carolina off
of ninety five and Highway thirty eight. Henry Marie, Terry Odom,
you know the people that are behind Boomer Hawk and
(19:46):
everybody behind the Big O Tribute, one of the biggest
summer card events in the country, will be at Paradise Raceway.
Coverage will be Friday and Saturday on Sports Action TV
as a subscriber. And don't forget also the dirt Car
Racing Modi Fied Mafia Tour will be at Princeton, West
Virginia and with Raceway inaugural visits next Friday and Saturday.
(20:11):
Love both of those places, and I'm telling you, I
can't wait to see an Allegheny's sunset at with Raceways
backstretch next week.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
That's a beautiful place.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
That's why I heard recently they had the West Virginia
Motor Speedway. Was yes, they're get back and act I
heard they're going back to the three eighths mile now.
They've had different owners from switching it from the original
five ages, then then other owner switched to three aids,
(20:40):
then the next owner one five ages, and then now
they're going back to the three ages mile oval. So
hopefully the new owner will be doing a little better.
We'll see what you link to the track they'll be running.
Mike Hurley bought that track. We're under Dan Kyle Hardy,
(21:03):
Greg Gray Caraco as well.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
Awesome people.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
And by the way, Mike Curley not only bought West
Virginia but or Speedway, he turned around and got Elkins
Raceway too.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
So awesome to see and we're looking forward to obviously,
and me and Greg talked about it this afternoon. Was
all these tracks and promoters and somehow we got to
find a way to come together work with one another.
But the Modified Mafia Tour obviously being at those places
hopefully in the future coming back. I can tell you
it's a done deal. Four times in twenty twenty six.
(21:40):
The Modified Mafia Tour will be back here in twenty
twenty six, which will be our fourth season. And I
will tell you, I think the first time we were here
we had one race? Was it one race the art
first year, the second year we had we had two.
Mike Franklin was he inaugural winner of that. I believe
(22:00):
it was on a Memorial Day weekend. And then of
course we had two race dates last year. We've had
four this year. We're gonna have four next year. And
obviously thank you to great Gunner and everybody here at
the Winchester Speedway. Jimmy, we love coming to this place
and we always enjoy coming and putting on a great
show for these awesome fans.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
And I think we're gonna see a really different race.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Than what we saw back on fourth of July, just
because of not know not only with the entries of
the drivers we have, but I have to say this,
the weather conditions are gonna have a lot to do
with the weather. Having the race beat what it'll be tonight, right, Sure,
he's gonna get in the fifties this evening.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
That's gonna be something with the weather conditions, a little
more comfortable weather as you can see. Yes, we've had
the high humidity and stuff and the normal dog days
the summer, I guess you would call it. But but
this week a lot better. Past few days and a
(23:05):
lot of things have been They get the track maintenance
crew here at Winchester getting it ready to go, and
we're gonna have next week.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
We'll have the cret Late.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Models returning for the Mobby and Sandy Dennis Rush Great
Late Models next Saturday night, along with the Ernie Deans
modified to will be running. Also the hobby Stocks and
the micro Midgets will be here next Saturday night making
their first periods of the season here at the Winchester Speedway.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
Now, do y'all still have the Winchester two hundred.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
We don't have that anymore, but we got the next week.
In two weeks, we're gonna have the Lee Stoltz Memorial,
one of our.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Third super late Model Cats honor there.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
We're gonna have a big fall race coming up on
the twenty f the small the super Late Model fall
clash going to be part of that. That's that's gonna be.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Oh, that's not happening. Now we're saying that's happen, Jimmy.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
We'll be there. So as we get ready for.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Race and action as the Lee Stultz Memorial coming up
for the Super Late Models in two weeks, as we
honor the winning US car owner in Winchester Speedway history,
the Man one titles and the old Sportsman class and
the thirty by ninety modifieds and the Modified class, and
(24:33):
they had drivers like Bill Nalley and Hall of Famer
also Charlie Bieler and a Sportsman class sprint cars, Ray
Doval and of course the Virginia legend himself, the all
time winner in the Super Late Models, Buddy Armor, hall
of Famer himself, as he and Lee Stults said, some
(24:53):
many successful As we get to run that event in
two weeks here at the Winchester Speedway, as we honor
the arch Hall of Fame Coliner Lee Stoltz, the famous
S three that was there for many years and kind
of interesting how that number came about when the speedway
first opened, when the racers were deciding on numbers. If
(25:17):
you had a single digit number, you had to put
the first letter of your last name in front of
the number or next to it.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
So Lee decided to put S for the first and
he got the.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Number three, so they put the S three and that
has been probably the most famous number in Winchester Speedway
history and the legends have driven from.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
Bill Nalley, Ray Doval, and Buddy Armol.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Well, if you're joining us on again Sports Action TV's
coverage from Winchester, Virginia, we had Cole Hilton's car, bicycle
and flip in turn number one in two during qualifying,
and since then they have brought out the skid steer
and the push vehicles. It looks like that's about to
all come to a completion here and we will get
(26:10):
back to the resumption of pop Bit qualifying here for
the Dirt Car Modified Mafia Tour. Jimmy Seville, I am
Wes Lee Outland and I do want to say a
big thank you for you feeling in for me the
first two times that I couldn't be here and Tommy
Cordell filled in for me on fourth of July again.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
You know, just love that you guys have the knowledge
that you do.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
And obviously Thomas the voice of the ULMS series and
a friend that I've come to know in the last
couple of months working with him. At Memorial Day at
Tyler County by the way Modified Mafia Tour news flash
breaking news. We will not be at Tyler County Speedway
on Labor Day weekend. However, we have races that we
(26:55):
will be going to. There's a I hate say it,
but it's a tire war. And these tire wars are
now not only hurting the weekly tracks the drivers, now
it's hurting the sanctioning bodies and the promoters and tracks
as well. Because of that reason, we will not be
running at Tyler County Speedway on Labor Day weekend, so
(27:16):
we will be at County Line Raceway and then we
will be at Potomac Speedway.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
But I have to say, I think the powers that
be for putting their foot down standing behind who's your
racing tire before the other ar guys come in and
and you know, we see a tire war. I see
it in dirt, I see it in pavement, you see
it in karting. It's it's the shame that it's just
(27:41):
the that that this is literally where we are now
in our sport. But because of it, now we're losing
dates or we're having to change and go to different
places to appease everybody.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
Yeah, I know, especially you got uh who's your tire
war with American Racer?
Speaker 3 (27:56):
Yeah, yeah, uh.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
I think they had a lot during the uh super
Late Model speed weeks, they had that tire war between
those two.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, and then uh the m tire and karting.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
If people follow a lot on Sports Action TV, UH
Reaper tire came in blew them out of the water.
So now it's kind of like we're trying to figure
out what we do from here. And obviously Henry Marie
and HBM Repro Racing Tire, they're a part of w
k A now a long standing contract.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
With the World Card and Association.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
I mean, and I don't want to get off subject
because it's a dirt car modified series events, but you know,
Sports Action TV covers the WKA, the nationals of Regionals, Daytona,
all of the big events, the Big O Tribute and
obviously it's just these tire wars. We're seeing it everywhere,
but me and Greg were actually talking with Me and
(28:53):
Greg Gunner were actually talking about to deal with the tires.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
So yeah, we want to mention the track. The injured
track official that was on track is okay. Our track
official is okay.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
Round of applause, everybody.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Official is okay. That is the best news and as
is Cole Hilton. That is great news. Great job by
Tri County Transport. Without them, we do not race. And
we thank those people helping us out and all of
our track officials here at Winchester as we'll be getting
ready to go back to time trials for the modified Mafia's.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
Well and Jimmy when we when that happened, we saw
what happened to Cole Hilton, and we saw what happened
to the man on the full wheeler. But you don't
want to add anything more. You don't want to take
away what we don't know right. Sometimes people to make
sure right, and that was the reason why we kind
of were silent. If you're listening on broadcast, we went
to interviews with obviously Brandon and Great Gunner because we
(29:54):
just wanted to not give you any information unless it
was the right information. Sometimes people put hashtag fake news
out there. We didn't want to do that, so we
wanted to make sure we had everything correct. Obviously, the
official is okay off the full wheeler incident and Cole Hilton.
You saw him even before when they were attending to
(30:15):
the official.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
He was walking around.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
You could just see the heartbreak on the Concord, North
Carolina driver first career win, like I mentioned back in
May at County Line Raceway and it's just man, we're
probably going to be down to twenty one cars now
because I've got a feeling they're going to be heading
back to Charlotte.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Yeah, it looks like it's upbreak for Cole Hilton and
as we'll be getting ready to go back qualifying. Just
a moment, but sometimes that happens in racing. You just
hate seeing it. Yeah, while Rex like that, it's really
do a polevoyant on Lacy getting ready to come back out.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
By the way with new entries tonight signing up for
the Dirt Car Modified Mafia Tour for twenty twenty five.
We now have officially two hundred and seventeen members this
year since March.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
That's great to see, great to see them Modified Mafia's
doing a great job this season. Good to have you
guys here at the Winchester Speedway against our Ernie D's modifieds.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
So qualifying ongoing for the Dirt Car Modified Mafia Tour.
Speaker 7 (31:40):
It's gonna be to you all.
Speaker 4 (31:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
We had what two three? We had two three three
car counts. The six cars took time all ready. Yeah,
are we talking about everybody requalifying again? They are figuring
out how we're gonna work out qualifying because obviously track
prep happened, and we might see these guys from the
(32:16):
first two flights come back out and requalify.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
But now we go back to on track activity.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
Here comes Joey Polevoy, the fifty one machine. Obviously we'll
watch and see what he can do here Joey Polevoy.
There goes Owen Lake see in the twenty eight Maryland
Driver currently the Dynamic Drive Line Rookie of the Year
(32:43):
this year. Right now, Jimmy and that green twenty eight,
we see poll boy working his way around the racetrack.
Right now, that goes that coyote Wiley cam right there.
That's it's a crazy angle right there. Let's see where
we end up. Owen Lacy has cracked the top eleven.
It looks like Polevoy is up to eighth. So Joey
(33:12):
Polevoy and that fifty one modified from Polton, Virginia, and right.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
Now he will be the fastest in that group.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
Right now, Chris Arnold, Mitch Thomas, Stephen Podola, tight norder,
Glenn Elliott's your top five.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
In qualifying. Here comes the next flight, ready to roll.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Joey Klar out of Romney, West, Virginia in the twenty see.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Beautiful car, and behind him Cody william Yes, Sir, the
seventy seven Cody Williams.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
And then they go to d Haven TJ D Haven.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
Former track champions.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Beautiful looking cars as the number seven of TJ D Haven.
The man knows this place very well. From Winchester, Virginia,
Alpha Chassis with a Lasso race engine, the Ancien Funk
Houser and Company, Shonbel Shawnable go O Structural Design and Construction,
(34:13):
Frey Enterprises number seven D and now the other drivers
getting ready to end their times. Let's see where we
end up, and let's see where d Haven kind of
struggled in practice in hot lapse, if you will, Jimmy,
Let's see where he ends up.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
I think he's in the top ten.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Now s sixteen one four eight, yeahmy klower's eighteen oh nine.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Cody Williams.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Yeah, Cody right there in front of him, Yes, Sir
Cody Williams in that seventy seven w right there in
front of him. So it was Williams d Haven and
then the other driver there. As the next group is rolling,
here comes the thirty five. That's Ryan Dolan. I'm the
(35:00):
racetrack of that. It's the tool man, the sergeant at
the General, Ryan tool and he's in trouble. Ryan Toole
spends you see right there, a little angle in turn three.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
He lost it. Ryan Toole going around.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
And the other car coming down the front straight away
obviously the number two b entry That is Brian Buckler.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Why in a former simulate and limited late Model Championaire
at Winchester.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
Sounds like Glenn Elliott, Glenn Burnie, Maryland's Glenn Elliott. He
won his first race in the Modified Manfia Tour at
Natural Bridge Speedway up in the mountains of Rowan Oak, Virginia,
back in August of last year. And he's a late
model Modified Star. And now we hear the driver there
of the same. All right, So we're gonna go back
(35:54):
to qualifying. We're understanding the thirty five had already a
lap completed, Ryan Dolan, so he only gets one lap.
Everybody else that thinks is gonna get a start over
here and right now it's not changing anybody in the
top five. So Arnold, Thomas, Padula, Norder, Elliott, Crazy Elliot,
(36:24):
your top five. These drivers just finishing up and they're
all in the back. Ryan Tull fourteenth sixteen four forty six. Uh,
Ryan Dolan, Ryan Dolan in the thirty five d sixteen
four point fifty seven.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
Ryan Butler at a sixteen to two one seven his
fast lap at fifty five cel on the track former

As we come to two to go, coming by with
two laps to go, Kevin Coots out front, Grady trying

for third now going on between Holmes and Jenkins in
turn one.
Speaker 2 (48:36):
No doubt, Walter Crouch pulling away, Chris Sumption second. Great
battle for third between Holmes and Jerry Jenkins Jr.
Speaker 3 (48:44):
As they come for the white flag one to go.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
Man A, look like those guys behind the leader were
bicycling coming off the corner. It looked like the lift
and the rear front tires, the front and lift rear
tires were going off the ground. Nonetheless, Crouch work in
the back stretch. He's no, we're in sight there he is,
coming off turn four. He's looking for the checker flag.

we're ready to see what happens. Says they're gonna get
ready to show them one to go. We gotta, we gotta.
We got a corner worker in turn number two picking

Speaker 3 (01:37:53):
For this year? That's it Man for regular points.
Speaker 2 (01:37:56):
Then we got four more and final points race of
the year, and then we got one war in September
and that's it. So only got about two months of
racing left. So points titles going to be coming down
the wire. Points standings are very close Laura over division,
so looks like it's going to be going down the wire.
Don't forget in two weeks time. We got the Lee
(01:38:19):
Stultz Memorial coming up for the Super Late Models Saturday night,
August fifteenth, as we honor the winningest corner in Winchester
Speedway history, the late Lee Stults Arch Hall of Famer
one and modified one in Sportsman he won super Late
Models with legendary drivers from all Hall of famers like
(01:38:43):
Bill Nalley and Charlie Beeler, Ray Doval and of course
the Virginia legend all time winner here in the Late Models,
Buddy Armol here. As we'll be running that race as
we David Stultz and his family will be having this
race once again.
Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
Yeah, you know you're at Winchester speed Well.
Speaker 1 (01:39:02):
Jimmy, you mentioned you mentioned David Stoltz, and I remember
as a kid, even before I became a thirty year broadcaster,
going to Fayetteville or Lakeview, Carolina Speedway, and remember David
Stoltz in the cars racing there at the dirt tracks
and they have a Tampa day. So, man, it's awesome
that there was that lineage and that pain homage to
(01:39:23):
such an amazing person in the area of the sport.
Speaker 2 (01:39:26):
Yeah, he certainly was Lee Stoltz. I only got the
man just a few times, but it was a gentleman
and he always knew. I sked David. I said, how
did he know how to get his favorite drivers to
drive his car? And and I think Buddy Armelds said
it best. I said, what made Lee so good? And
(01:39:47):
he said, this was Buddy Armel's quote. He just got
along with people, and that's something you rarely see. And
mister Stoltz, I actually have. My late neighbor used to
serve our country a gentleman.
Speaker 3 (01:40:03):
I knew.
Speaker 2 (01:40:04):
Tommy Smoot used to live next door to me. My
hometown Romney, West Virginia now Jersey Mountain Road. His mom
and dad were the postmasters of our general store out
there for a post office. And Tommy used to work
for Lee Staltz, and there was a story he told me.
He said, when Lee didn't have any race regular cars
(01:40:26):
to work on, Lee would have them working on the
S three.
Speaker 3 (01:40:32):
I asked, I asked if he ever gave him a raise.
He said he didn't know for sure, but I wasn't served.
But I'll tell you he but.
Speaker 2 (01:40:42):
That man was one of the best I ever seen
as mechanic, corner whatever. Mister Lee Saltz, he was a
legend at this track and he was one of the
best corners, winning corners for many years. And the talent
he had was you could be a Hall of Famer.
Some other drivers driven for him, the late Rodney Franklin.
(01:41:05):
A lot of people didn't know he married Lee's daughter.
Darlene was Thee's daughter, and he also had other drivers.
I think the late Red Nonager drove his car one time.
Sam Nally also drove Johnny haberback one time, drove when
I think when Buddy Armor was injured. And he had
(01:41:28):
so many people driving for him, but he was one
of the best corners and he just figured something out.
He knew who he wanted in his cars and that
somehow it just worked. He just had everything and he
was one of the best. Coming up in two weeks,
we're gonna find out who's going to be the winner.
(01:41:50):
Will win the super Late Model Lee Stultz Memorial coming
up at Winchester. It should be fun. While they're preparing
to the track there, we'll have our track officials there.
You're going to run the track in. Looks like they're
getting ready. We have a lot of racing that's coming
(01:42:14):
up as track officials there getting ready to come out.
Speaker 4 (01:42:24):
Look at that son, Look at that son.
Speaker 3 (01:42:25):
That is beautiful. So if you want to see your
speedway is always great.
Speaker 1 (01:42:30):
And yeah, you know I live in the Carolinas, Jimmy.
You know that last night up till this morning.
Speaker 4 (01:42:37):
You know what it was doing? Rainy?
Speaker 3 (01:42:39):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (01:42:40):
And the only reason I'm saying the R word tonight
is because it's a beautiful night here in Winchester, Virginia.
Speaker 4 (01:42:44):
But I literally kept texting Sean and everyone else and
I was like, are we good?
Speaker 1 (01:42:50):
It's rated cats and dogs and storming in North Carolina.
But luckily, as soon as we got up ninety five
and crossed into Virginia, you're Richmond, Jimmy, get cleared up,
and it was just absolutely beautiful love coming to this
place and Winchester Speedway. And obviously, as we already told
you that that we're coming back here four times next
(01:43:13):
year again kind of pretty much the same dates that
we're on the schedule for this year for twenty twenty five,
and uh, obviously all we have left to do is
run four A main features.
Speaker 4 (01:43:25):
So that is what is around the corner.
Speaker 3 (01:43:28):
We're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna send it down track side.
Are there ready?
Speaker 2 (01:43:32):
Boss Mister Brent Hoddell will be doing our prayer and
our national anthem.
Speaker 3 (01:43:36):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (01:44:01):
Sai Sai,
