Speaker 1 (00:19):
Welcome the Cryptic Chronicles, the podcast where we delve into
the hidden threads of history and explore the mysteries lurking
just beneath the surface. Today, we're journeying into the enigmatic
world of the Thule Society. Founded in the shadows of
post World War One Germany, this secret society has been
(00:41):
shrouded in myth and controversy for good reason. Its members
were said to have delved into ancient aryan myths, occult practices,
and esoteric philosophies, all while laying the ideological groundwork for
one of the darkest chapters in human history. Join me
(01:02):
and we'll uncover the origins of the Dule Society, explore
its hidden agendas, and examine the chilling influence it had
on the rise of the Nazi regime. Will unravel the
complex web of conspiracy theories, secret rituals, and dark ambitions
that defined this mysterious group. Stay tuned as we bring
(01:26):
the secrets of the Dule Society to light and reveal
the disturbing legacy it left behind. I'm your host, Tim Hacker,
and you're listening to Cryptic Chronicles.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
This is the way, this is the way.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
You're luck with these Lazi scene, these these entities.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
They would be conquer an hour behind the Big River.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
The Thule Society or thule Yesschaft in German was a
secretive and mystic organization founded in Munich, Germany, and it
all came about in the aftermath of World War One.
It was pretty much mostly active during the early twentieth century,
(02:48):
particularly the.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Nineteen tenths and nineteen twenties.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
The Thule Society played a significant role in the development
of esoteric and occult beliefs that influenced various elements of
German society, including politics and the early Nazi movement. The
Dual Society was steeped in a cult and mystical beliefs,
including a fascination with arians, Germanic mythology, and the supernatural.
(03:16):
Members were drawn to such practices as alchemy, astrology, and
ceremonial magic. They believed in the existence of a secret
ancient German civilization that held the key to spiritual enlightenment.
One of the key people concerned with all this dual
stuff and Arianism stuff is obviously mister no No. Adolf
(03:41):
Hitler is easily one of the most archetypal characters from
history However, despite being one of the most notorious people
who ever lived, there are actually insane gaps of time
in Hitler's life that have gotten undocumented. The influence of
the Dual Society on Hitler is one such example of obfuscation,
(04:05):
but there are myriad other examples. Many historians have commented
this mysterious aspect surrounding Hitler, such as Jacques gime Fest's
legendary quote of Hitler being an un person. Even the
most modern researchers cannot keep track of him or years
at a time, especially during his impressionable duration in Vienna
(04:30):
when this accounts of this time are unreliable at best.
The Dual Society basically never comes up with mainstream historians
other than maybe in a footnote. But the Dule Society
had many links to German associations even before World War One,
and countless other connecting threads lead to this esoteric secret society.
(04:54):
Despite this, ninety nine percent of historians completely it nor
the Dual Society altogether in their books. Why now, after
researching this topic, I realized that this secret society, the
way it's pronounced, is actually thu lay. But most people
(05:18):
I know and for me, like the most part my
entire life, I've always considered how to pronounce this group Thul,
not thu lay. So also some people say tool or
I guess tou lay too. But in any case, I'm
continue pronouncing it wrong like I like to do on
this show. And I'm sure all of you were cool
(05:40):
with that. And if you're not, well, you know it
just mean to get haunted by shadow people, you know
how this show rolls. But continuing, let's look into the
rise of the Dule Society It's origin story. Over the years,
the Dual Society would write a cast gatting litany of
(06:01):
controversial literature. Allegedly, Thulists wrote The Protocols of Zion, one
of the most notorious anti Semitic books ever written outside
of Russia, and are the source of a plethora of
anti Semitic literature that would become popular during the first
half of the twentieth century pretty much globally, leading to
(06:23):
a vast amount of anti Semitism that existed during the
first half of the twentieth century and even now, I
guess quote shadow ideologies. The Thule Society was a Bavarian
chapter of the secretive pre war germana Norden a Volkes
(06:43):
lodge whose anti Semitic and German nationalism was colored by
theosophical accounts of human prehistory, which assigned prominent roles to
proto Aryans, and by a neo pagan fascination with the
old word to gods. The German in Norden was never
(07:03):
more than a minuscule body nationally, but it's Bavarian manifestation,
under the energetic leadership of Subatendorf, grew to at least
fifteen hundred members since nineteen nineteen. One of Doul's front organizations,
its Workers Circle under Karl Harror, quickly became the German
(07:26):
Workers Party Deutsch arbettr Party. And if you an't know
what Deutsch means, Deutsche is how Germans say German. They
don't call it Germany or call themselves German. They call
it Deutschland, and they call themselves Deutsch. But this was
the party Adolf Hitler joined in September nineteen nineteen. And
(07:48):
you know, this is the German Workers Party. And under
his leadership, a political group founded by Thule as a
bridge between its esoteric ideology and the working class was
transformed into a mass movement that came to dominate Germany
and subjugate most people of Europe. End quote, A lot
(08:10):
of the stuff that I got going on in this
episode is gonna come from the book Hammer of the Gods.
So whenever you hear me quoting it, unless otherwise stated,
I'm quoting this book, but I will definitely pointed out
when I'm not quoting this book and hold on sech,
I should probably point out the book's full name and
(08:31):
the author. I know some people get kind of annoyed
when I don't do that here it is. Gotta look
at my kindle real quick the full name and author
Hammer of the Gods, The Dul Society and the Birth
of Nazism by David Lehearsin.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Go check it out. It'll be linked in the details
of this episode. Anyway.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Continuing, the Dual Society gained quite the reputation Europe and beyond.
It's known for its love of runic lore and astrology,
has made it seem illegitimate to mainstream historians, despite its
long history and influence being right there in plain view
for everyone to see. I know it's taboo in the
(09:17):
mainstream to talk about like a Coult stuff or the paranormal,
supernatural and mainstream historians. I don't like to touch it
with a ten foot stick. Still, it's there for everybody
to see plainly that it had a massive influence about,
like on everything going on in Europe, at least with
(09:39):
the concerning the Vulk. Bulk are the entire German people, FYI,
all the Germantics speaking people, including like Austria, all the
little smaller nations around that area. I guess, even kind
of into Denmark, huh, and even I guess the Vulk
in England because the English or pretty much of German ancestry,
(10:04):
so it covers quite a large amount of people. Anyway,
it's not just the mainstream historians that kind of screw
over the Dule society and not giving him the historical
credit that they deserve, because even Hitler himself obfuscated the
influence of the Dual Society upon the Nazis. When he
(10:25):
became the Prime Minister, he had Rudolph Vaughan Sebattendorff, a
DULE founding member, arrested for writing about the society's influence
on the Nazis, and over his years in power, Hiller
wouldn't comment on the matter when asked, saying that they
were not worthy of comments. Hiller tried to make it
seem like the Aryan ideology came from him. He didn't
(10:48):
really like sharing the spotlight, and you know, he wanted
to seem like he might have even had divine inspiration.
But that's not true. Thule made Hitler and the Nazis,
and I'm going to prove it to you in this episode.
But it's a lot to go over, so take a
(11:09):
seat and relax. And I don't know about you, but
(11:29):
one of the most perplexing things about this whole duel
slash like Nazi Arian rise of all that ideology stuff.
One of the most perplexing things about this is how
did it come to be in the first place, Because
it seems like we're already in modern times right basically
with science we know about history. We have all this
(11:54):
knowledge that everybody before had no clue about. And it's
like the people of this time were going backwards. And
I know this may seem odd to tell you, but
to those people of the time, the you know, quote
unquote progress that was going on to them, that was
going backwards. So this is quite the paradigm shift and
(12:18):
not opposite of how we would view the world.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Anyway.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
The main thing that led to the rise of all
this was like the end of the Old Ways quote.
Anyone who understands national socialism only as a political movement
knows virtually nothing about it. It is even more than religion.
It is the will to a new creation of man.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
One thing that the Communists and Nazis shared was the
Hegelian dialectic.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Which is kind of a sort of neo gnosticism. I guess.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
The end of the nineteenth century was called the flight
from Reason because people were questioning Christianity in the face
of advancing reason and science. The industrial revolution and expansion
of knowledge led to the Church losing establishment power, but
in a bland, directionless meaningless universe that scientism dogma offered.
(13:24):
It left Europeans pretty spiritually discontent, if you know what
I mean. A slow break from the Western Christian tradition
hit the spiritual equilibrium of the German speaking people of
Europe haard the theory of evolution and materialism left many
empty and thirsty from meaning. This left the door open
from many alternative ideas to enter the stage, such as theosophy.
(13:50):
An offshoot branch of theosophy called ariosophy is the brand
that took root in Austria and then Bavaria, which later
became the Thule Society. Many in the West look toward
the East to condemn their own cultures, whether accurate comparisons
or not. Theosophy and Nordic mythology gave many what they
(14:11):
so desperately craved and filled their lives with meaning once more.
But just what is theosophy? I mean, I mentioned it
many times on this show. We kind of know what
it is, right, I should give a basic overview though
for anyone who does not know what.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Theosophy is a mystical philosophy based a lot on Hindu
and Buddhist cosmology, with traditional Western occultism sprinkled in here
and there. It is a fascinating subject worthy of much research,
and I myself have always enjoyed researching it, even though
I take it with a grain of salt. But theosophy
(14:52):
isn't nothing of the past. It still has a profound
influence even until this very day. However, as with any tradition,
there are always be splinter groups and groups that branch
off from the main trunk to go do their own thing.
Ariosophy is one such deviation. Ariosofy took things in a
(15:15):
unique direction, to say the least, focusing on Blavatsky's Aryan narrative.
One of Theosophy's founders, Helena Blovotsky, said that there were
four races of humans before the current Homo sapiens, and
that the Aryans created all the great cultures of the
modern epoch. All European languages seemed related as well as
(15:40):
being related to Sanskrit, so theosophy is where the Nazis
got their Aryan idea. The word Aryan was taken from
age old Hindu legends concerning tall, fair skinned invaders who
subjugated the swarthy natives of India. Theosophists aimed the origin
(16:01):
of Indian civilization to be Aryan, hence their infatuation with
all that stuff from the East and considering it Western
while not being Western. At the same time, the ancient
East was a relic of a long lost Western age
shrouded in mystery. Ariosophy stated that Arians founded all great civilizations,
(16:22):
which I'm sure pisses off a lot of people. If
there's any Indians listening to this, this is just theosophy.
I in no way am saying that this is true.
Let's just go along with this narrative, though, and one
of the Thule Society's main founders, Rudolph von Sabattendorff, who
have mentioned a few times already, was completely obsessed with theosophy,
(16:46):
and it's the form of ariosophy that really threw him in.
A lot of the ideas were throwbacks to ancient lower
that was suppressed by the authoritarian church of the past
two millennia, seeing no future based on the ideologies of
christiandom and materialism equally, That's key. These guys were against bulls.
(17:12):
The Germans speaking people of Europe looked towards the past
for guidance, which cultivated a boon of interest in Germanic
folklore from pre Christian times. See what I mean by
them going back was forward, even though to us it
looks like everybody's going forward, but they're going backward.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
This is what I meant.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Legends of Hyperborea and the Old Gods were gaining a
lot of popularity in the zeitgeist of the time. Biosophy
stated that the Arians were from Atlantis, and when the
continent sank, the Arians spread throughout the world, dominating the
natives and in many ways Old traditions were usurped for
(17:56):
new views not necessarily based on empirical evidence. Hyperborea and
the continents of Thule are basically interchangeable in a lot
of ways, even if that might seem kind of slightly confusing.
The mythical continent of Thule, often shrouded in enigma, occupies
(18:17):
a fascinating place in ancient mythology and lore. First mentioned
by the Greek explorer Pitheus in the fourth century BCE,
Thule was described as a distant land situated far north
beyond the known world. Over time, it came to be
regarded as the northernmost edge of the world, a place
(18:37):
of eternal ice and darkness. Pytheus's account painted Dule as
a land where the sun barely set in summer and
barely rose in winter, hinting at a realm on the edge.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Of the Arctic circle.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
Thule's mythology is deeply intertwined with the concept of an
unreachable utopia. It is often depicted as a land of
immense beauty and purity, untouched by the corruption of civilization.
Some legends suggest it was inhabited by a noble and
wise race, living in harmony with nature and possessing profound
(19:12):
spiritual knowledge. This image of Thule as an idyllic, isolated
paradise made it a symbol of the ultimate northern sanctuary
in many cultural imaginations. The idea of Thule also found
resonance in various cultural and historical contexts. It was even
in medieval times. It was a synonymous with like unknown
(19:36):
northern territories, fueling imaginations and explorations. During the Nazi era,
the Dule society mythologized it as the origin of the
Aryan race and took it as their name, basically embedding
it within their ideology. Thule became a focal point for
(19:59):
missticism and pseudoscientific theories, often linked to notions of primordial,
pure civilization before being corrupted by external factors. So the
Thol in their mind was the pure, uncorrupted German civilization,
the Aryan civilization, the civilization of all civilizations, the ones
(20:26):
that they all crudely imitate. Despite the varied interpretations, though,
Thule remains a symbol of the mysterious and unattainable, a
reminder of humanities and during fascination with the edges of
the known world and the mysteries that lie beyond. Its
legacy has endured far past the ancient world, in two
(20:47):
past medieval times all the way into the twentieth century,
greatly influencing Nazi ideology. It's also popular in a lot
of literature and art, like look at Conan for example,
where basically Hyperborea Thule continue to like represent the ultimate frontier,
(21:10):
a place where boundaries between reality and myth blur. So
we got Thule, Hyperborea, and Atlantis all kind of being
thrown into the blender together. And to these people, Arians
came from this mystical place, and allegedly the Aryans symbol
was you know, like the the no no insignia to
(21:31):
a lot of crowds. Hence the Thule society took the
primordial and universal symbol. This washtika is the Aryan's original symbol.
So the Dule society took this primordial and universal symbol
of this washtika and made it their own. So it's
actually not the Nazis at all who came up with
the swashtika to like take it as their sigil. It's
(21:52):
the Thule society who took it from India. It's a
primordial symbol of spirituality. But the if you taught all
kinds of crazy stuff beyond the legends of dual hyperborea atlantis,
which we will get into in a moment. Looks like
it's time for a quick break. You're listening to Cryptic Chronicles.

but not this. By day three, I noticed something sharper focus,
sustained energy, and zero crashes. As a podcaster, I have

in saying that, I think it's time for a quick break,
because guess what, I gotta go get some coffee. Don't
go anywhere you're listening to Crypto Chronicles, den.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
All right, we're back.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Sorry if you hear a little bit of a hum
in the background, because right now we're going through kind
of a heat wave and I just got to have
the air conditioning on or I'm just gonna fry. So
if you hear like a slight hum in the background,
just ignore it. It'll turn off once we reach more
comfortable temperature. All right, back to theosophy. Theosophy also taught
(25:37):
that a new human race would emerge to supplant all
that's here now. But these ideas were pretty new to
the global ideas about race, and with Darwinian thinking, you're
a pad the idea that a racial hierarchy could be
made with scientific evidence and then measure people's faces and heads,
trying to tie racial traits to them, all kinds of
(25:59):
stuff like this. It all also held to the idea
of eugenics. This type of stuff came from Enlightenment materialist
science from seventeen thirty.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Five and beyond.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
However, after Darwin's Origin of the Species, released in eighteen
fifty nine, this racial science went into hyperspace. Phrenology was
all the rage back then, but in modern times it
is discarded as pseudoscience. For good reason too. But Darwinism
(26:35):
was used as an excuse for imperialism to be justified
as the strong overcoming the week through naturally evolving process.
Then there was eugenics, Edward Bulwer Lytton, whose novel Becoming
Race eighteen seventy one was very popular among other utopian
(26:55):
eugenic future writers of the time.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
They loved it.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
A new species of humans would replace the current with
insanely futuristic science and live within the earth itself. This
idea was also prominent in theosophy that humanity will evolve
into transhumanism, making our current race look primitive in comparison.
(27:19):
Quote British naturalist Francis Galton broke with Darwin, his distant cousin,
over natural selection, favoring mutational jumps over a slow going
evolutionary change. In Hereditary Genius eighteen sixty nine, Galton proposed eugenics,
(27:40):
which held that human capacity was a function of hereditary
not environment.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
End quote.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
So the idea that humanity could be bred into a
super race and purged of its limitations through eugenics almost
became somewhat of a religious dogma to many people of
the eighteen hundreds. This dangerous philosophy was used to justify
all kinds of messed up stuff in the world, and
theosophy based a lot of its ideas off the Zeitgei
(28:13):
stand in a lot of ways a respectable public face
for their occult paradigm. Tons of people took Blavatsky's theosophy
very seriously, and many still do today, even in prominent
government organizations such as the UN. And I'm not trying
to say that theosophy is evil because of this stuff.
(28:35):
You know, it's just a product of its time, and
you could take anything and make it good or evil
based off of the morals of the individual. So I'm
not trying to like smear Blavatsky or theosophy because they
believed in this kind of stuff. It's more so that
people who took these ideas dark side are responsible for
their own actions. Kind of a deal. But in many ways,
(29:01):
all the occult orders founded in the late eighteen hundreds
kind of required Blovatsky's stamp of approval before it would
be seen as legitimate. This is how much she influenced
all that stuff, like the entire spirituality alternative spirituality movements
around Europe America. All that she had this much influence
(29:23):
that you had to get her stamp of approval before
anyone would take you seriously. This includes the famous Hermetic
Order of the Golden Dawn of Aleister Crowley fame, whose
grand master McGregor Mathers was a theosophical adherent. But more
so what this did was this gave a lot of
(29:44):
people an idea that you could find evolution and basically
everything throughout all of our everyday lives and natural selection,
you know, and people of the era thought that evolution
could actually be forced to occur and the process could
be greatly sped up and create in the end, a
(30:05):
new super race that would create a utopia. Now, as
we know in modern times, because we have a better
view of history and more access to knowledge just at
our basically at our fingertips, so we kind of know
that every single utopian ideal has always turned out horrific.
Like every time anybody has seized total power and tried
(30:28):
to create utopia, it leads to nightmare dystopia. Back in
these times, these people didn't have nearly as much access
to information and history and knowledge as we do, so
it's kind of easy to forgive them for their ignorance.
But these people really thought that they could create superhumans
and that would create the perfect society.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Quote.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
The Leninists hope to speed up the pace of Marxist
historical dialectics. By making revelation, Shiel imagined that an organization
might try forcing evolution forward, a step later advocated by
the Ariosophists and finally undertaken by Himmler's ss end. Throughout
(31:18):
the world, theosophy and politics seemed to resonate with one another,
and as the twentieth century dawned, many groups in powerful
places thought they could create a new world of superhumans
living in the perfect society. This would lead to more
death and suffering than anything else in the entire history
of humanity. But one interesting aspect of this is this
(31:43):
zeitgeist transcended the whole left right political paradigms, as both
were equally consumed in this racial and social engineering using
Darwinian logic. The societies that these ideas were being cultivated
in had their own inherent cultureal baggage, with Germany having
a lot because of its unique history. As historian Golo
(32:08):
Mann observed, quote what psychologists teach about the individual also
applies to the nation. It can harbor old unpleasant memories,
transform them in strange ways, and derive aggressive energies from.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Them end quote.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
And Germany was really pissed off at this time, like
really pissed. Germany was denied their own nationalism. During the
seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, at the height when nationalism was
growing potent as a cultural paradigm across Europe and the world, Germany,
in its manufactured states was still equally, if not better
(32:50):
than many full fledged states consumed in nationalism at the time.
Look at Bavaria for example. Just this little tiny German
nation was superior to full blown nationalist countries across the world.
Not the big boys, obviously, but you get what I'm saying.
So the Vulk thought that they had their place in
(33:10):
the world kind of not acknowledged, you know. It robbed
them of a place of honor and prestige on the
world stage, even though they very much deserved it, not
only in reality, but from their very own perspectives, you know,
from common people. This gave Germany more fervor to prove
itself to the world, maybe than any other country, you know,
(33:30):
in the entire world. They really wanted to show people
what they were made of, and they deserved it. They
deserve to be acknowledged, i should say. But you know,
not being part of the quote unquote club that Germany
to cultivate a metaphysical nationalism. Germany existed as a nation
(33:51):
spiritually even though they didn't exist as a nation on
a map. This attitude was common throughout basically all the
German states down into Austria, with all those sharing the
German language and culture looking at themselves as a united
force in spirit, even if they weren't united as a
(34:11):
nation in a materialistic sense. This romantic nationalism of the
German states grew even stronger during the Napoleonic Wars that
saw Napoleon occupy much of German territory and kind of
split up and fracture German states on a whim, which
kind of pissed him off. However, much of Germany resisted
(34:31):
exterior influence in other ways, considering their culture the true,
untainted culture of the world and them being a light
in the darkness. This metaphysical and spiritual nationalism would continue
even after Germany was united into a fully fledged European state.
What was it, Napoleon the Third I think his name was.
(34:53):
He caused a war with Prussia, and the other German
states were like, yeah, let's all banded together to mess
with the French and defend our territory.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Blah.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Blah blah, which led to the German Alliance defeating the
French and creating the Second Reich, the new German state.
This happened in eighteen sixties seventies. Man I should have
wrote that down. But before this, Germany had a natural
resilience to other European cultures. Like even though they were
(35:25):
surrounded by all kinds of powerful nationalists and nations, they
always kept their own identity, even if they were splintered,
even if there were like tons of tiny little German nations,
they still were German and kept their culture. This included
them resisting Darwinian materialistic science, at least at first quote. Interestingly,
(35:49):
academic German science was slower to embrace biological arianism and
racist anthropology, not fully accepting it until the dawn of
the First World War end quote. So the Germans were
not someone who just went with the crowd and were
easily influenced by peer pressure and exterior factors. They were
their own thing and proud of it. The goal of
(36:12):
German nationalism was to unite the vulcan the spiritual community
of all the German people, not just the Germans in
the newly formed German state. You know, after like I
just mentioned the war with Napoleon the Third where Prussia
led the way in uniting the fractured German states into
one thing. You know, as I said, the Vulcan is
(36:33):
a term to describe all the Germanic people as a whole.
So even I mean at the time, there was a
lot of Germans in even America. So there was many
people in America that were or are considered part of
the Vulcan, which is interesting.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
There was a.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
Vote to see if America would have English as their
national language or German, so that shows you just how
many German immigrants.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
There truly were. There are a lot.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
But as Germany became a legitimate state, many Germans were
dismayed that it did not include Austria for example. This
is how serious they were about the Vulcan. It transcended
these lines on a map that separated quote unquote nations.
The Vulcan were united as a people spiritually, whether there
(37:20):
are lines on a map or not. This romantic nationalism
included everybody from the Vulcan, so that includes America, Britain, everywhere.
All the vulk were seen by the cultural zeitgeist as
the true people responsible for the greatest cultural aspects of
all the nations of the world, throughout all human history,
(37:41):
in the arts, science, mythology, you name it, the Vulk
were the foundation of it all in this paradigm. Remember
this comes from them thinking that they're the original people
who came from Thule Atlantis, Hyperborea. Whereas everybody else around
the world were barbarians. They were a highly advanced civilization,
(38:04):
even at the Dawn Age to outsiders. This explains the
bizarre reason Hitler didn't want to war with England because
of many people who didn't understand this cultural paradox was
They were like, why isn't Hitler attacking England? If he
just attack and if he's England, he can do whatever
he wants. But Hitler was incredibly resistant to attacking England
(38:26):
during World War Two. He was a little bit more
inclined to attack America though, because we were much more
culturally and racially diverse. But to him, like the English
were some of the peak of German people civilization, even
though they were surrounded by Celts. The German people had
(38:46):
a spiritual nationalism that all the vulcan should be united
as one. This is known as the Vulcanish movement and
led directly to the branching off of Ariosophy from theosophy
and the creation of the dual society. Ha ha, see
I'm getting there. Ariosophy thrived in the first decade of
(39:09):
the twentieth century in Germany. It was resisted as at
first like I said, but eventually it just hit home
for these people who were just looking for a paradigm
that wasn't materialistic science or Darwinian evolution. They looked at
the past to go forward. In a sense, it is
impossible to separate Bovotsky at theosophy from the creation of
(39:33):
Arianism and the dual society. You just can't do it,
you know. As well as the Swashtika as their symbol,
you find the washtika in theosophical stuff as well, because
I mean in India it didn't mean what it meant
to the Nazis. Obviously, it was a spiritual symbol that
was good. It was just taken and corrupted. But the
(39:58):
whole Ariosophy and the Aryan race and narrative is directly
the offspring of Theosophy.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
It's just undeniable.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
Vienna, capital of the multinational Habsburg Empire, rivaled Paris as
Europe's cultural seat. During the reign of France Joseph eighteen
forty eight through nineteen sixteen, poverty rose, along with a
fivefold increase in population, placing heavy strains on housing, sanitation,
(40:29):
and transportation. Public and privately funded welfare agencies provided relief,
but many in Vienna made do in cramped dwellings without
indoor plumbing, rented bed space to make ends meet. Politically,
social democrats clashed with Christian socialists, the former dreaming of
gradually dismantling capitalism and the latter of ameliorating its abuse
(40:55):
in accord with Roman Catholic social doctrine. Zionism was born
in Vienna, a city where Pan Germanism flourished. Advocates of
a Jewish homeland in Palestine found themselves in close quarters
with those who sought a Reich for all Germans. Austria's
numerous Pan German organizations provided a form for anti Semitism
(41:17):
and the disparagement of non Nordic races.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
End quote.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
I think the air conditioning shut off nice. If you're
listening to this and it's the fall or the winter
and you're like, what is he talking about? Is a
heat wave going on? It's because all of my episodes
are released to the patrons and supporters first, so I
don't know when this is going to be released to
the public. Right now, as of recording this episode, it's
(41:45):
July twentieth, so it's really hot, trust me.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Anyway.
Speaker 1 (41:51):
Vienna in the early twentieth century was basically a cultural, religious, racial,
and political mixing pot with anything in every Many Eastern
Jews migrated to the city, to the point where they
were a population of seventy thousand in a city of
two million, lots of them, and Ariosophy was on the
(42:11):
rise in Vienna, particularly during Hitler's sojourn there.
Speaker 2 (42:17):
Guido von List.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
Eighteen forty eight nineteen nineteen born Guido Karl anton List
founded ariosophy by cementing Vulkish Arian ideology together with theosophy
by way of Wodan and the old gods.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
Of a Northern Europe.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
And Wodan is odin if you didn't know, like the
god of the vikinks he was the god of the
Germans too in ancient times and like anything they had
like their own version of it. But this guy was
behind so much that Dule absorbed into itself. List in
(43:00):
his writings were pretty much instrumental in the reemergence and
rise of Wodanism, a belief system revolving around, of course
Norse mythology, but the Germanic version. So it wasn't something
new that they were adopting. It was something deep in
their collective unconscious lists. Writings would ever, steadily evolve and
(43:23):
become more occult over time. The Guido von List society
grew an influence to the point that these ideas were
even with the chief of staff of the Austro Hungarian
military and the cosmopolitan soup of Vienna. To the Areosophy worldview,
the only way to go back to a pure Teutonic
(43:45):
united nation of the Vulcan was to get rid of
all the invaders and outsiders. This not only meant, you know,
just foreigners, but also ethnicities that were not naturally German
and were not part of the Vulcan And even oddly,
the Catholic Church was seen as an invader as well,
(44:06):
which had basically ruled Europe for to millennia. Central Europe.
Maybe not Central Europe. Germany is actually where Protestantism came from.
But it's just weird that our religion with such massive
influence would also be seen as an outsider and unwanted
force of influence within the German States within the lands
of the Vulcan and will continue talking about list and
(44:31):
the origin story of the Thule Society after a quick break.
I'm your host, Tim Hacker.

Speaker 1 (50:16):
All right, we're back, and we left off with the
influence of List and his weird world views that influenced
the dule society. List wrote Carnentum, which was a story
about the ancient Germans who defeated and sacked Rome, ending
the Western Empire, which filled all Germans who read it
(50:38):
with immense pride. Got to remember Alaric of the Goths
as the dudes who led the army that sacked Rome.
But this success led List to become a pre eminent
writer in Austria, Hungary and Vienna was his hot spot.
It allowed his ideas to spread like wildfire, with his
writing getting more and more occult over time, the secret
(51:01):
doctrine by Blovotsky and theosophy as a whole when more
and more shape his worldview quote. When examined through spectacles,
the cultural landscape of Central Europe was a field of
correspondences and interlocking symbols whose esoteric meaning could be read
(51:22):
with significance to Runes, Nordic galore and the cultivation of
a cult insight. We must read with our souls the
landscape which archaeology reconquers with the spade, he declared end quote.
This obsession with pre Christian culture was not limited to
(51:42):
List and Theosophy, though, because it was a movement across
all the Vulkan people of Europe. So the Germanic people
were primed and crept for alternative views of the world
completely unique to them. Lists believed that Paganism had been
a fire stamped out by Christianity, but the coals were
still burning, and it actually survived, but in a strict
(52:06):
secrecy among you know, like secret societies across Europe, which
was true. It even survived within Christianity itself because a
lot of the practices within Christianity are pagan It's how
they conquered, but List believed that it survived in poems,
mythologies and stories that were hidden from the uninitiated. These
(52:30):
initiations became the basis for the secrets behind medieval guilds,
you know, like Freemasonry, and there was a Crucians, sometimes
in plain sight but unable to be decoded by the ignorance,
you know, people who can't read symbolism and specifically coded
to avoid the ever watching eyes of the Christian Church
(52:53):
for heretics. According to Liszt, secret societies preserved elements of
ancient Ariya Beloe, while the stubborn folk ways of German
peasantry unconsciously maintained the old ways against all encroachments by Christianity. Later,
his theory of rural life was extolled by the Third Reich.
(53:14):
Liszt did not believe he was founding a new faith,
but rediscovering an ancient one, soon to regain ascendants as
the present cycle of time wound down and a new
age took its place. For List's audience, the anxiety was
caused by what they understood as the precarious status of
Germans in multicultural Austria Hungary, threatened by the rising Tide
(53:38):
of Lesser Races. List's writings and plays would become a
big part of the Third Reich's culture, and in pre
World War One, Vienna was stoke in the embers of
the coming clash of paradigms across Central Europe. With List's
obsession with Blavatsky's theosophy, abscribed to the idea that world
(54:02):
history was summed up in epochs and cycles, and then
our current one was increasingly getting closer to the end game.
He'd imagine an apocalyptic coming confrontation of the Aryan races
versus everyone else. List saw the beginning of World War
One as proof of the coming theosophical apocalypse. In a
(54:25):
millennium to follow the apocalypse, a superman List called the
Stark von Oben, meaning power from Above, would establish an
aerosophical world order. He was one of many theosophists that
thought that World War One like was basically the beginning
of the end for the old human and the start
(54:47):
of the new List even made astrological predictions of years
that would be incredibly important globally. These years were nineteen fourteen,
nineteen twenty three, nine teen thirty two, which oddly indeed
proved to be history changing years. Let's look at him
(55:08):
nineteen fourteen, World War One, nineteen twenty three, Hitler's beer
hall push, making Hitler a household name, and then of
course nineteen thirty two, which led to Hitler's rise to
complete power over Germany. And Guido von List actually had
(55:29):
his own little esoteric order. It was called the Guido
Vaughan mist Society, very unique and it was determined to
study the mysteries under the umbrella of ariosophy. It became
a public platform for List's ideas, and his followers wasted
no time in expanding lists paradigm to the masses.
Speaker 6 (55:52):
Quote.
Speaker 1 (55:53):
The society's members were an influential minority in politics, the media,
the arts, and the military throughout Allstria and Germany end quote.
The entire Theosophical Society in Vienna joined List's organization. Their
goal was to influence the entire educated German speaking elite
(56:13):
across all of Europe. By nineteen oh eight they were
a legitimate force in the culture. List had his inner
circle called the huher Arminent Ordent or High Arminent Order,
which conducted clandestin occult activities behind the scenes. They traveled
(56:34):
to archaeological sites sacred to Woden and perform esoteric rituals
with one in particular, and Dowing List with a full
blown vision surrounding Woden. Esoteric order greatly influenced the idea
of the Aryan race being the generator of world culture
and made the ideas of ariosophy common among the normal
(56:54):
everyday people of German Vienna like and beyond. Actually he
just popularized it among normal everty people there. The List
Society had many occultists creating entertainment for the city's population,
so their ideas were spreading like a virus. I guess,
(57:16):
and this is pretty much a good summary of how
ariosophy came to have such influence in a German speaking
culture across Europe and kind of kindled the origin of
the Dule Society. Without all this going on, the Dual
Society the Third Reich and this would have been a thing.
(57:47):
But oddly enough, the original Dule Society actually has nothing
to do with the Dual Society that we're talking about here.
The original original dual society using that name came about
in nineteen ten by a man named Felix Niedner. He
was famous for translating ancient Norse poetry from medieval manuscripts. However,
this original Dual Society was so obscure and unknown it's
(58:10):
almost not even worth mentioning because it had nothing to
do with the Third Reich or the occult order that
we're talking about here. It was just some completely separate,
random thing that happened, and the guy also happened to
be into like Norse magic and stuff. It's a weird coincidence,
but it actually wasn't until after the fires of World
(58:30):
War One that the Dual Society as we know it
and are talking about came into being.
Speaker 5 (58:39):
At Athuley Society was founded in Munich in nineteen eighteen.
Speaker 1 (58:44):
By Rudolph von Sabatandorf, a German commoner who had been
adopted by nobility during a sojourn in the Ottoman Empire.
The society was initially a quote unquote German study group
headed by Walter Najas, who was himself wounded World War
one veteran turned art student from Berlin who had become
(59:06):
a keeper of pedigrees for the German in Ordon or
Order of Teutons, a secret society founded back in nineteen eleven.
Nahas had traveled to Munich and renamed his little society,
his little group, to the Thule Society, which was actually
originally going to be a cover name for a branch
of his own order of Teutens. But a schism in
(59:27):
the group divided him from that order, and that Thule
Society diverged to become its own thing altogether. But by
nineteen seventeen, this German occult secret society was officially on
the historical records. In nineteen eighteen, Nahas was approached in
(59:48):
Munich by another prominent occultist, Rudolph Vaughan Subattendorf. Rudolph was
the head of the germanin Walvatur of the Holy Grail,
which was another secret society who created a secret society
based on esoteric Sufism, Freemasonry, and the Creed of the
Hashishian aka Assassins. You know Assassins creed those video games. Yeah,
(01:00:14):
they're based on a real thing, but except they don't
suck like those games do. The first three are good,
though the et CEO trilogy is fantastic. Anyway, the two
joined up and began a recruitment campaign for their whole
fledgling dual society secret society like a cult order thing.
In early nineteen eighteen, the Dule Society had only around
(01:00:38):
two hundred members, but by the fall of that same
year their numbers erupted up to fifteen thousand. Rudolph bon
Sebattendorf is the man most often credited for founding the
Dual Society, but Walter Najas was equally responsible for its foundation.
(01:00:59):
Many occult historians have wondered if originally the Dule Society
might have been an occult order of Freemasons, and this
is because Rudolph bon Sebattendorf was a Freemason. This isn't true,
as you will see later, Well, at least I don't
think it's true.
Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
I'm convinced it's not true.
Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
But there's a lot of stuff in freemasonry that did
not click with the Nazis or the Dule Society.
Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
So let's look at it this way.
Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
When Hitler came to power, he vowed to wipe out Freemasonry,
and he imprisoned tons of Freemasons. During his time in power,
he actually went after like all secret societies and occult orders.
He even went after Rudolph Steiner. And you know how
good of a dude that guy was. So I'm convinced
that that whole Freemasonry was originally Thule as bullshit. But
(01:01:54):
you're entitled to your own opinion. And at this point,
I'm in Germany. After World War One, the nation was
in deep distress. The new government that took over after
the fall of the Imperial Family, you know, because the
war was lost, was incredibly incompetent. The Weimar Republic was
known for its corruption, debauchery, lack of order, attacking German traditions,
(01:02:24):
all kinds of stuff that just you did not want
in a country that was already pretty destabilized and not content,
you know what I mean. So basically, this incompetent regime
in charge caused everyday regular citizens to live in a
constant state of anxiety and bread costs like ten million
thousand dollars. Some had to change, and this need for
(01:02:49):
change caused a lot of like unrest and political disorder.
Rudolph Vaughn Sebattendorff and many other German aristocrats tempted to
kidnap the Bavarian Socialist Prime Minister Kurt Eisner in December
of nineteen eighteen, which put the Thule Society on the
radar of the establishment of the time, and yes there
(01:03:12):
were socialists and communists in Germany at this point, which
actually caused a lot of the destabilization and unrest itself
because they weren't very tactful in their objectives to destroy
German society. I don't know how to put it, but
it was just basically a huge drastic change without any
(01:03:34):
middle way moderation going down because they were a conservative society.
All of a sudden, this I guess you could say,
very radical far left power base was put in power.
So it just clashed because there was no middle room,
you know, where there's a transitional period or more balance.
So this caused a lot of friction. In nineteen eighteen,
(01:04:00):
the Dual Society bought a local weekly newspaper, the Muschener
Biobacher or Munich Observer, and changed its name to Munchener
Biobacher und Sportsblatt Munich Observer and Sports Paper in an
attempt to improve its circulation. The Moonchener Biobaucher later became
(01:04:22):
the Volkistcher Biobacher or Bulkish Observer, the main Nazi newspaper.
It was edited by Karl Herrer. End quote Wikipedia and
the Dual Society when they would use this paper to
kind of stir the pot. In nineteen nineteen, Bavaria had
(01:04:43):
a revolution. The Communist government of Munich struck out and
attacked the Dual Society's premises, taking seven of its key
members hostage. The communists accused them of treason, then executed
them on April thirtieth, including Nahas the founder of the
Dual Society, I mentioned one of them, as well as
(01:05:03):
many famous powerful aristocrats, including one related to European royal families.
Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
So this was pretty serious and pissed out a lot
of people off.
Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
As a counter attack, the Dual Society went to the
streets and organized a citizen revolt. Quote Anton Drexler had
developed links between the Dual Society and various right workers
organizations in Munich and various right wing organizations. He established
the Deutsche babet Parti DAP German Workers Party on January fifth,
(01:05:39):
nineteen nineteen. Together with the Dual Society's Carl Herrer, this
party was formed. Adolf Hitler joined this party in September
of the same year. By the end of February nineteen twenty,
the DAP had been reconstituted as the National Social Duche
(01:06:02):
Deutsche Arbetter Parker an SDAP National Socialist German Workers Party.
Speaker 4 (01:06:11):
Often referred to as the Nazi.
Speaker 1 (01:06:13):
Part endue Wikipedia, So yeah, there you go. And Rudolph Subattendorff, however,
never joined the Nazis or any of that other stuff,
and in fact left the Dual Society. That didn't stop
the Dual Society from becoming a prominent force in pop
culture of the time, though many ate up all the
(01:06:33):
Nordic esoteric lore that spawned from them. But this view
the public had of the Dule Society was not the
real Dual Society. It posed itself in the open, at
least as like a harmless literary scholarly circle. They claimed
to be an order of research into German history, nothing more.
(01:06:55):
This couldn't be farther from the truth, though they were
in occult secret society, so they took the whole secret
part of secretical society very seriously. Politically, they maintained this
secrecy of what they were truly about, because, you know, politics,
they wanted to not be a target. Despite this, the
(01:07:19):
Dual Society aided in taking down the communist regime of
Munich and replacing it with a center right one. So
they made a lot of enemies. It was essential for
them to not attract unnecessary attention, so they kind of
left the political stage after that, at least openly.
Speaker 5 (01:07:38):
With this secrecy, they continued their work into expanding arios
and looking.
Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
Forward to the rise of the new human race.
Speaker 1 (01:07:47):
The superman, the coming transhumanism that theosophy preached was inevitably
coming to take rulership of the world. But other than theosophy,
ariosophy and Vulk culture, what exactly did the Thule society
really think about the world? Like, what did they really believe?
(01:08:08):
Eh going to get weird quote? The earth is hollow,
we are living inside it. The stars are blocks of ice.
Several moons have already fallen to the earth. The whole
history of humanity is contained in the struggle between ice
and fire. Man is not finished. He is on the
(01:08:30):
brink of a formidable mutation which will confer on him
the powers the ancients attributed to the gods. A few
specimens of the new Man exist in the world, who
have perhaps beyond, come here from beyond the front tiers
of time and space. Alliances could be formed with the
(01:08:54):
Master of the World, with the King of Fear, who
reigns over a city hidden somewhere in the east. Those
who conclude a pact will change the service of the
Earth and endow the human adventure with a new meaning
for many thousands of years end quote Morning of the
(01:09:17):
Magicians weird, right, So that's kind of interesting and out there.
This quote shows that their view of the universe was
very abnormal. It was almost the opposite of the accepted
modern ideas that we come from or what was prevalent
in the world at that time. How could such as
scientifically advanced people entertain anathema thoughts to ordinary consensus reality
(01:09:43):
doesn't make sense. This is the most advanced society on
the planet we're talking about, well, maybe not at the
time of after World War One, but prior. Yeah, And
this is essentially like a hollow earth theory, and the
dual society believed in our hollow earth theory that puts
(01:10:03):
all other hollow earth theories to shame with the scope
of its grandeur. But it is clear to see the
fascination with the Ubermensch, the superman, and these ideas would
be a core ideological guiding force of Hitler and the Nazis,
which originated from many sources, but most prominently the dual society.
(01:10:27):
I know you're thinking of Nietzsche, and yeah, you're right,
but this is higher than that, higher than him. The
dual society rejected Western science, Western religion, and Western intellectualism altogether.
Most people are not aware of just how strange this
truly is, because we have our foundations set unconsciously, but
(01:10:51):
in a sense what the dual society believed would cause
any normal, ordinary person an immense level of confusion and
just like cognitive uncomfortableness. I mean, we're all indoctrinated, we're
all brainwashed, we all have our programming, and this view
of the world just goes against everything we've ever been
(01:11:12):
indoctrinated with and thinking. But it's based on I think,
at least I think it's based on stuff that makes
more sense obviously. I mean, do we really think that
the dual society knew better than the scientific and historical community.
Don't get me wrong, I've like basically ragged on scientism
(01:11:33):
and establishment everything, big archaeology, big whatever. I love doing
it because yeah, they should be definitely be dragged through
the mud. They deserve it. But at the same time,
there's like a level where I have to stop and say, Okay,
you know what I mean, I can't go further than that,
and what the Dual Society believes definitely goes away further
(01:11:55):
than that, Like they just rejected Western science, Western everything.
They want to become an island out in the middle
of a void, and thinking about how the most advanced
country in the world could go in this direction is
an exercise and abstract thought, like I can still look
back on stuff from the past and these establishment foundational
(01:12:17):
powers like you know, history, science, blah blah blah blah blah,
Like there was a point where a lot of that
was at least established on reason. So even if it
isn't what we think it is, there's still something there
of value. But the Thool's view of the world and
the universe just takes it into such an alien way
(01:12:39):
of viewing everything. Oh my gosh, still interesting though, I mean,
in the end, come on, nobody knows anything. Admitting you
know nothing is the first sign of somebody that actually
is worth listening to. The Dual Society was like many
(01:13:05):
occult orders of the early twentieth century, with a focus
on spiritual development through occult means, even though it was
politically active from the start and then politically active from
the Shadows. Afterward, the Society still kept esoteric learning and
teaching as like the core activity among its members. Those
(01:13:26):
in the Order had a myriad of interests and levels
that they detained which allowed them to access certain curriculum
that was only accessible after, you know, they reached that
amount of expertise. And these subjects included alchemy, astrology, Eastern mysticism,
astro projection, ancient history, mythology, folklore, and of course, ceremonial magic.
(01:13:53):
The Dual Society was dedicated to aryan slash Teutonic supremacy
and focus on bringing about the rise of the next
man becoming Superman. The Secret Society fought to resurrect Nordic
mysticism and the complete eradication of Christian influence from German culture.
They considered it their duty to carve the opening for
(01:14:15):
the coming Master race.
Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
