(02:00):
Time. Pay a lot of attentionbecause in the end I' ll ask
you a few questions. They're ready. We started The goldfish once
(02:38):
there was an old marriage that livedon a beach. They were very poor
and only lived from what the husbandmanaged to fish with a net that he
himself had made his home. Shewas a humble hut, worn down by
(02:59):
the years and the healthy of thesea. But the love they shared kept
them together in spite of adversity. One day, while the man was fishing,
he felt the net very heavy. He was happy to imagine that he
had caught a huge fish, butwhen he pulled the net out of the
(03:22):
sea he only saw a small goldfish. He marveled at his beauty,
but it was even more surprising tohear him speak. If you let me
go, I will grant you awish, but the good man, moved
by the fish' s plea, told him that he needed nothing, that
(03:46):
he preferred to see him free inthe sea. The grateful fish became very
happy and disappeared into the water witha golden glow. The man returned home
and his wife asked him if hehad caught anything. He told her the
incredible story of the goldfish and shewith eyes full of disbelief and a little
(04:11):
frustration. He said you' dhave asked for food. You can'
t see we' re starving. Her husband, realizing the need in which
they lived, thought it was agood idea and decided to return to the
sea. On the shore of thesea he called the fish with an improvised
(04:36):
rhyme. The little fish jumped inthe waves and asked him what he needed.
The man asked for food. Thefish told him not to worry about
coming home and finding plenty of food. Very excited, the man returned home,
(04:59):
where his wife received him dancing withjoy through the kitchen surrounded by a
delicious banquet. They ate until theywere satisfied and in that his wife began
to dream imagine. He told herthat instead of living in this hut,
(05:20):
we would live in a palace withmany servants. That would be wonderful.
The man, infected by his wife' s enthusiasm, thought it was a
good idea and returned to the seato ask the little fish for a palace.
(05:42):
The very nice fish told him notto worry and to return home.
The man did so and when hereturned home he found a palace with gardens,
water fountains and many luxuries. Hiswife Bosa appeared at the door followed
by servants and embraced him with joy. They enjoyed the luxuries and were happy,
(06:11):
but his wife began to dream againimagine. He told her I was
the queen of the sea, we' d have a lot more luxuries and
riches and that fish would always dowhat we asked. The man imagined that
life and thought it was a goodidea. He went back to the sea
(06:39):
and called the goldfish. As heleft the sea, the Fish was glad
to see his friend, but whenhe asked for his new desire, the
fish realized the greed that began togrow in his heart. He was disappointed
and said nothing. He only lookedsadly at the man who had considered his
(07:05):
friend and plunged back into the sea. The man, bewildered, returned to
his home and discovered that it wasno longer a palace and his wife wore
Fine clothes had returned to poverty beforeand although the man returned every day to
(07:27):
fish in the sea, he neveragain saw the little goldfish and red color.
This story is over. How didthey like it? I hope so.
Now let' s go with thequestion round. Get ready for the
(07:50):
old marriage before you find the goldfish. They lived on the beach in a
humile hut. They were very poorand survived with what the husband managed to
(08:15):
fish with his net. What thegood man did when he found the goldfish.
For the first time he marveled atthe beauty of the goldfish and when
(08:37):
the little fish asked him to letgo in exchange for granting him any wish,
he let him go without asking foranything. In return, what was
the first wish the man asked ofthe goldfish. So is food, for
(09:09):
his wife reminded him that they werestarving. Why did his wife convince her
husband to ask the fish to makeher the queen of the sea, because
(09:33):
she thought that being the queen ofthe sea, the fish would always be
obliged to obey her. What happened? When the man asked the little fish
to make his wife the queen ofthe sea, the little fish realized that
(10:03):
the man and his wife were takingadvantage of his generosity. Disappointed of disappeared
into the sea without granting the wish. When the man returned home, it
was no longer a palace and theywere again poor. Unbelievable. I'
(10:26):
m surprised how well they' vedone it. You can tell they paid
a lot of attention to the story. Now let' s see what else
(10:50):
we' ve learned from the goldfishtale. We can learn to be kind
and generous. That' s howour story started when the good good man
let the fish go without asking foranything. In return, this act of
generosity is a good example of howwe should treat others, always trying to
(11:13):
help and being kind without seeking one' s own benefit. However, we
can also learn that we should nottake advantage of the generosity of others.
Marriage began by asking for necessary andimportant things, such as food, but
(11:35):
then their desires became bigger and moreselfish. That teaches us to be thankful
and not to abuse the kindness ofothers. Now let' s see the
other side of the coin. Whenthe little fish realized that with his last
wish, the man tried to deceivehim. He was disappointed because he thought
(12:01):
they were friends. This teaches usthat while we should be kind and generous
to others, it is important toset limits when we consider that we want
to take advantage of our good will. Be like the fish and be very
(12:22):
smart, moving away from the peoplewho want to hurt you. If you
had met the goldfish, what awish you would have been asked to discuss
it with your friends and family. All right, that' s all for
today. I hope you' vehad a lot of fun and remember to
(12:48):
come back next Tuesday for a newadventure until soon or
