Are gonna you walkin be with us also to join

Amazon Music. Glad you want to be with us as
well as you guys know. I'm broadcasting live from Los

(00:20):
Angeles this week in town for the August and August
Film Festival, which is great for our next segment that
we're going to be bringing to you guys, Brandon Allinger
is making his first appearance with us here on Conversations Live.
He's an extensive work experience when it comes to film
and television industry, particularly in the field of collecting memorabilia,
which is great because for the past almost two decades
he's served as the CEO the COO A Prop Store,

(00:44):
which is one of the leading places when it comes
to film and television memorabilia. They're gearing up for a
big event that's taking place here in Los Angeles September
fourth through the six. We're going talk to Brandon, only
about that, but also how you guys can even be
able to participate virtually. Brandon, thank you so much by
the time. Really appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, no, thanks for having me on today. I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Hey, glad to do it. I came to Los Angeles
almost a week too early for this, but of excite
that our audience can be able to participate brtually as well. So, Brandon,
I want to ask you first, because you do have
such a background when it comes to this industry, what
has it been like for you to have the passion
for the film industry that you do and then to

(01:26):
bring that to the work you're able to do. The
Prop Store, Well.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
The prop Store is made up of collectors. It's born
out of collectors, and you know, really the reason we
all got into this is because we love movies, and
we love television and specifically loves you know, this world
of collecting and these artifacts which we consider to be
real treasures, you know, real pieces of film history. So
Prop Store is all about auctioning the actual costumes and

(01:49):
props that were used on set, used in the making
of major films and television shows. So you know, it's
not a replica. It's not a toy, it's the actual
thing from the filmmaking process. And to say, I mean
for us, these pieces are similar to fine art. You know,
something like Michael Keaton's Batman costume that we have in
this auction, or the Spider Man costume from the Top

(02:09):
Maviers Spider Man film. You know, these are things that
were created by talented artists and designers and craftsmen, and
you know they're they're sort of immortalized on film. There's
something that the whole world has seen so many times
in major movies over the years, and and say see
them in the flesh and get to appreciate them, to
some collectors, get to own them. It's just an amazing thing. Really.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Yeah. And I love the fact that Brandon, as I
was prepping for the segment, I love the fact that
prop Stories made this easy, of course for people that
may be physically in Los Angeles to be a part
of this, but also virtually as well. What has that
been like you to have the marriage of the two.
Because I noticed when I was on the website, I
Teita then went there, we're gonna let our audists know
how they could be able to get a preview too,
but you guys have it. So the course did made

(02:55):
for in person but also for virtually as well to
bid on these What is it being for you connect
those two things together for things like this.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Yeah, I mean, I think that's just following the progression
of the world really where everybody just wants to do
everything online and you know that don't leave the house
if you don't have to. So, you know, we look,
we run the auctions from Los Angeles, but participation is
very much a global thing. You know, we're selling to
all corners of the US, all corners of the world,
and we have people. You know, there will be some

(03:22):
people who come out and bid in person in the
auction room in Los Angeles, but a lot of people
are going to bid either via telephone where you call
in and you're connected with the phone bidding clerk who's
in the room and who bids on your behalf, or
just online, you know, through the online bidding platforms. I
know people who live here in Los Angeles and they
don't bother to come to the auction room again, just

(03:43):
for that that one factors convenience. You know, why drive
across down if I don't have to I can sit
and bid at home with a nice coffee. So we
try to make it easy and accessible and you know,
allow people to participate however they would like.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Yeah, I love that. Let's talk about some of the
items you mentioned some here, Brandon. I think this is
what makes this event, the prop stores doing it so
fascinating because, as you said, these are the real deal,
So you know, these are things that people can only
be able to cherish, but also to be able to
pass along. Are there any items in particular that you're
excited about seeing how people respond to them?

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Well, look, I mean I'm a big fan of the
seventies and eighties, so you know, movies like Star Wars
are very big with me. And you know, we have
in this auction what is arguably the biggest piece, the
most significant piece we've ever handled a prop store. It's
an original Darth State or lightsaber. So it's the actual
you know lightsaber prop the handle that was used for
the Dueling Sequences and the Empire Strikes Back and Return

(04:38):
of the Jedi, and this is one that they mounted
a blade to the blade was basically like a fiberglass
rod that Darth Vader and Mark Hamill Luke Skywalker would
actually fight with on set, and it's just, you know,
the lightsaber is such a recognizable icon from Star Wars
and really from all of cinema. You know, lightsaber arguably

(04:59):
the most memorable almost recognizable prop of the past fifty years, certainly,
I would say. So to have an original in our
auction is a really special thing and a really rare thing.
I mean, these things just don't come up. This is
you know, there's really never been an offering quite like
this of a Star Wars piece in an auction, and
it's going to just be fascinating to see what it
sells for next week.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Yeah. I saw that on the site and even had
its own booklet there. I noticed on the site, So
Addison and like I said, we're going to give me
out the site here that's to be able to go to.
And so it is one of the things. That's one
of the things that really struck me as well. The
other thing that I thought about was really cool about
this Brandon that you all are doing, is that can
you talk about the you know, the ease of us

(05:43):
I mean, but also the fact that you're able to
have so that people can be able to really get
an idea of the items before they come even be
a part of a VIP pview event. Talk to us
about what's happening on Wednesday, September the third.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Yes, Yeah, we do have a VIP reception. It's the
evening before the auction. So the number one of the
auction takes place at the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
It's Central Ela. It's very close to the Academy Museum,
Academy of Motion Pictures Museum. And the night before we
do this VIP reception where we're basically inviting in clients, guests, fans,

(06:17):
consigners to come and take a look at a lot
of the content and the auction will set up a
very nice display. We'll have over one hundred lost in
there in total. And yeah, people, if you're interested, if
you're in LA, you're interested in tending the VIP reception,
feel free to reach out to us at croftstore dot
com and we can see if there's space to get
you in there.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
I love that. And so the actual auction that is
going to be taking place September the fourth through the sixth,
as we mentioned in Los Angeles, but again for our
audience out there. If you guys are not in the
LA area, you all can still be a part of this.
And then again it's part of the marriage that we
were talking about where you all can be able to
be a part of this, and they've made it very
easy for you guys to be able to see exactly

(06:57):
when you can do so. So on day one on
September the four that's worth it's in person bidding there
at the museum, but also on the second and the
third of the opportunity. On the second day and the
third day on September fifth and sixth, you can do
the online telephone and even the absentee bidding as well.
So it's a great opportunity for you guys. As you
just heard Brandon mentioned there, the website is also very

(07:20):
easy for you guys to be to go to and
a lot of great information there too, So you guys
can just be able to head over to the website
to find out more information at propstar dot com slash
live auction again that's propstartstore dot com slash Live auction,
and that way you can get an idea of what's
coming up. Brandon'm very excited about this. I know it's
going to be a great event, and I know people

(07:42):
are going to be excited. It's only to ownly a
part of movie history, but also to be able to
be around other collectors. I think that's the other benefit
of being in person, right, is that one of the
things that you've seen too, Brandon, that other collectors like
being able to meet and to kind of talk shot
with one another. Yeah. No, you're absolutely correct.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
I mean there is a community of people people who
are interested in this material and look their podcasts about
collecting movie props. There are you know, social media groups
that are all about collecting movie and television props. You know,
a lot of the fun is meeting other collectors, you know,
talking to them about the collecting experience and the process
and kind of what makes them tick. And you know,

(08:19):
different people are focused on different things. You might have
one person who wants to collect only horror and someone
else wants to collect only sci fi. Maybe someone else
is collecting on a specific actor. They collect Tom Cruise pieces,
they're Johnny Depp pieces. You know, it's there's a huge
range of focuses and methodologies mentalities that are going into
driving people's collections. But I think, you know, the common

(08:40):
trait that you see amongst all these people is just
their passion and the fact that everybody loves movies and television,
and that's kind of what this is all about, is
just celebrating.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
That love that can everyone. Brendan Ellinger has been our guests,
is CEO of prop Store. They're gearing up again for
the big live auctions and some of the Fourth six,
so it makesure you guys do take advantage by going
to the website I mentioned, which is propstore dot com
slash Live Auction. Brandon, congratulations to you guys at Propstore.

(09:10):
Thank you again for stopping by. Really appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Yeah, thanks for having me on having your weekends.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
