(00:00):
Welcome to Conversations Live. For morethan a decade, we've brought you the
best in books, entertainment, celebrityinterviews, and kind events. When the
movers and shakers of the world havesomething to say to you, they say
it to us first. Here's yourhost, Cyrus Web. Welcome back everyone,

(00:20):
the Conversation's live. I'm your host, Service Web. Glad you wal
could join us once again for aradio audience tuning in at WYD ninety four
point one FM and WYAD online dotcom. Are glad that you all can
be with us. Also was tuninginto our Heart radio and Amazon Music.
We're glad you Walll could join usas well. Whas a lot of us
as we're kicking off the years thinkingabout our health and wellness, how we
can be a better version of ourselves. One thing we may not realize is

(00:43):
how conscious breathing and chiropractic here canhelp us when it comes to reducing things
like stress and even improve our qualityof life as well. We're here to
talk to us more about that andgive us some tips. We're excited to
welcome back to our program today doctorStephen Knoffs. He's joining us from the
Joint chiropractic. We'll talk to himknowingly about the importance of course when it
comes to breathing exercises, but alsoyou all can go for more information as

(01:03):
well that to come off. Alwaysa pleasure having you on. Thanks again
for the time. Yeah, thanksfor having me Cyrus, it's great to
be back. Well, we've talkedabout in the past about the importance of
hyperactive here and of course we're goingto get into that as well. But
what is one of the best waysthat to come off to be able to
start off taking care of our sales. When it comes to this year,
well it's January New Year, sothat means everybody's thinking about resolutions and how

(01:27):
can they improve themselves over the nextyear. And typically we think about eating
better or changing our diet, orexercising more and going to the gym more
often. But one of the thingsthat's really overlooked is the importance of breathing
and integrating some kind of breathing exercisesin our day to day. If we

(01:51):
can do that, it can helpmanage a lot of different things and provide
health benefits from reducing anxiety, reducingthe effects of stress on our body,
it can help provide us with littleenergy boosts throughout the day. So there's
a lot of great reasons to integratebreathing routines throughout our day. Yeah,
and that's another thing I thought aboutwhen I was prepping for the segment.
Is this something especially for office thata lot of them are working in offices,

(02:14):
maybe even working from home. Theseare things that they can be able
to incorporate just easily into their routine. So what are some breathing exercises that
they can start with. Yeah,A couple of great exercises that I recommend.
The first one is called square breathing. It's where you picture a square.
Each side of the square is timedfor about four seconds, So you'll

(02:35):
breathe in for four seconds, workingyour way up one side of the square.
You'll hold that breath working across thetop of the square for four seconds,
You'll exhale working down the other sideof the square for four seconds,
and then you'll hold that breath outworking your way across the bottom of the
square, and then going back toan inhale and working through that cycle a

(02:55):
couple of times. Another great exerciseis something called alternate nostril breathing, which
is kind of a mouthful, butit's really very common in yoga practices,
and it's where you block one sideof your nose with your thumb and you
take some deep breaths out of oneside of your nose. Then you block
the other side and take some moredeep breaths through your nose. And these

(03:19):
are just really simple, easy waysto start incorporating breath work in your day.
Yeah, I love that. Again, great things their audience can start
doing. The last time we hadyou all went with Dotora Khanoff. You
were sharing a chorus some tips threatswhen it comes to getting better sleep.
So how does what we're talking abouttoday when it comes to these breathing exercises,
how does it tying in with chiropracticcare? Yeah, for a lot

(03:39):
of people, it's hard to makethat connection, like what does breathing have
to do with chiropractic or the bodyor health and wellness? And really there's
first you know, going through breathingexercises when you're doing it can help you
relieve stress, and that naturally justrelaxes your body. So as you're going
through the exercise, it's kind oflike a meditation where you'll notice your shoulders

(04:02):
started to maybe relax and ease up, and that obviously helps relax your overall
body. Your body can actually havea negative impact on your breathing. So
if you've got poor posture, ifyou have tight muscles in your upper back
or neck or in your chest, that restricts your rib cage and how well

(04:24):
it moves. And if your ribcage isn't moving well, you're not able
to breathe as well as you should. So by getting routine chiropractic adjustments,
improving the flexibility of the body, reducing muscle stress, you're actually improving the
ability to breathe overall. Great informationfor USS for kicking off a new year
again everyone. Doctor Stephenkan also hasbeen back with us, joining us from

(04:46):
the Joint Chiropractic helping you guys understandthe connection between conscious breathing and also chiropractic
care and how you can be ableto start your neural fright to be able
to reduce that stress and then acourse to improve the quality of your life
as well. Off always a pleasurehaving you on with us. Where can
our audience go for more information? For more information, you can visit the
Joint dot com all right, we'llmake sure that we linked it up for
our audience as well. And doctorKamov, thank you again for the great

(05:10):
work you're doing and looking forward tospeaking with you again soon. Of course,
