Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Conversations Live. I'm your
(00:02):
host Syrus website. You guys can join us once again
for radio audience tuning in Max WYD ninety four point
one FM and Wyeed online dot com. Are glad that
you all can be with us. Also to join the
online Worldwide dra podcast that I heard radio on Amazon Music,
but that you all could be with us as well.
This is part of a music and news segment here
at White and Today we're helping you guys that are
(00:22):
starting back to school here in Mississippi, and we're now
in our third week. Which is crazy to even think about,
but working class families are increasingly turning to credit card
rewards to help manage their budget, especially during back to
school season. The shift is driven not only by the
convenience of using credit cards, but also about the opportunities
to earn valuable cashback rewards. I benefit from those myself.
(00:44):
To discuss this growing trend and its impact on family finances,
we're excited to welcome Richard Hunt to our broadcast. Richard
is the executive chairman of Electronic Payments Coalition. Richard, thank
you so much for the time today.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Really appreciate it, Cyrus, A a good day to you
and all your listeners.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
I appreciate you being with us as I'm here in
Mississippi schools now, I've been going on for a couple
of weeks, Richard, which is hard to believe. What does
that mean though? From back to school shopping? What are
some of the ways that we can help all set
those calls that come with back to school?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
So, Cyrus, first off, thank you very much for having
a credit card and having your credit card linked to
reward model programs. Millions of Americans take advantage when you
already know. So when people made their purchases with a
credit card, especially there in Mississippi, they were able to
get cash back to reduce their costs. You can also
(01:33):
have used all your reward models that you've accumulated over
the years to pay your monthly bill as well. So
Treade Advantage's great opportunities for your folks in Mississippi to
pay down their bill by using their credit card. And
I hope they use it for everyday purchases, whether it's
back to school or gasoline, because you get cash back
a benefit off of each and every purchase.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Yes, and it's really great to be able to think
about that correlation. Rich That's why I'm so glad about
this segment of our audience thinking about that. So what
advice would you offer to our audience in Richard when
it comes to seeking to maximize those rewards and cash
back benefits, especially during the back to school when we're
kind of thinking about the budget for that.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
So look, I go to my credit card website each
and every day to see what type of offers retailers
are offering me when I use my credit card. I
know a lot of your customers have to buy electronics
for their kids. They can go to possibly be best
Buy that's offering two to three times the amount of
cash back the other retailers may offer. So make sure
(02:37):
your viewers go and look at their credit card website
to look at all the various offers that the retailers
are providing you if you use your credit card.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah, And what I love about the work that I
mentioned you're the executive chairman of the Electronic Payments Coalition.
I'm about to give the website out here, Richard. But
I love is that you all are not only of
course giving great information like this, but also giving us
opportunity to help support other causes like Boys and Girls Club.
What does that been like for you to share the
work of EPC and what you all are doing, and
(03:07):
I only help others, but also to be able to
provide opportunities for other organizations too.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
So it's been a great benefit or great reward that
we're able to help out organizations throughout the country, mostly
through our national banks, community banks, credit unions. We're trying
to get making sure that every kid is educated in
this country. It helps everybody in this country if all
the kids are educated. We know it's expensive to go
to school. That eight hundred dollars per kid is this astronomical.
(03:36):
So anything we can do to help kids and parents,
especially those lower income, making sure they can make ends
meet at the end of the month, it's very gratifying
to do that.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
I want to say, it's great work you all are
doing and we're so glad to have you on again. Everyone.
Richard Hunt is our guest executive Chairman the Electronic Payments Coalition.
You guys can find out more about going to cash
back to School dot com. That's cash back to School
dot Com. We're linked it up for a podcast audience
as well. Richard really appreciate you stopping by and looking
forward to our next chat together.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yes, certain, and don't forget that there's members of Congress
in Washington who are trying to get rid of credit
card reward points and cash back. We really need your
help having your viewers go to our website and let
those members of Congress hands off my credit card.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
That'd be terrific, Love Bett, thank you so much for
sharing that. Richard, really appreciate it and definitely looking forward
to having you back on the show.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
