a possible approximately twelve million hot dogs that are consumed.
I wonder if that's accurate enough or not. Well, We're
gonna take a tally to that because I'm gonna look
that up tonight after we bring in the radio show

I'm hanging in there. I'm hanging in there. I had
a cool weekend. We had molly Fest this weekend, the
fundraiser for Black Molly for a funeral and concert turned
out real nice on the weekend.

Speaker 8 (02:15):
Oh okay, it's what was molly You said, molly Fest? Right?

Speaker 10 (02:19):
Yeah, yeah, we had a concert, a fundraiser called molly Fest,
and we had a bunch of people come through and perform.

Speaker 8 (02:25):
It's pretty nice. Okay, molly Fest. I've never heard of that.
That's that's something new.

Speaker 10 (02:30):
Yeah, it was the first time we did it. She
needed to raise some funds for her or her family
had to raise funds for the funeral. Funeral was on
the eighth. It turned out pretty nice. So every year
we're gonna have something called Molly Fest, you know, to
remember her life.

Speaker 8 (02:51):
Okay, if you got a song that she did, send
something to me and we could play that during the
after party as an attribute to her. Okay, I got you, Okay,
all right, definitely man. But we got our guest DJ
Drecting in the building right now, so we're gonna be
chopping up with him. I want to get his thoughts
as well as Brita deliver next your thoughts on now.

the celebrity stuff that I do, please feel free to
follow at Spotlight three sixty media dot com. Independent artists
out there, I had a chance to catch it with
one Thurston how an independent hip hop artist, and I

(03:37):
asked him is he happy even being an independent artist?
If he is, you know, or if he's not, how
can he make it better? Here's what Thurston have to say,
Are you happy with the way the music industry is
right now. Man, a lot of money, not a lot
of money being made for artists with on the screening end.
Are you happy with the way the game is right now?

Speaker 11 (03:55):
I mean, you make yourself happy because if one aspect
of it is not working, then and you find other
aspects to make up for it. You know, there are
several ways to stream besides just.

Speaker 12 (04:06):
Having your music stream.

Speaker 11 (04:07):
You know, is your merch there's your product, there's your consulting.
So it'll all pan out if you find more ways.
You know, it's very beneficial because a lot of times,
like right now, even for many artists, your music is
basically and your and your music videos are commercials that
promote you as a brand. So as long as you

(04:28):
have something else to sell, your fans and you will
make up the difference of what you're missing out on there.

Speaker 8 (04:35):
Butt So I asked him was he happy being an
independent artist? Happy with the music industry the way it is?
And he said, you know, there are other ways besides
the streaming, because the streaming does not make a lot
of money. Of course we all know that, but he's
saying that your video is also selling you as a product,
and your merch sells you as a product, you know,

(04:56):
so he said, you know you could take that and
make money off that of course, so uh, DJ d Re,
what did you think about what you just heard from
a man Thurston? Now what he just said? I think
it's true.

Speaker 13 (05:07):
You know, you know your music, it brings awareness to you,
awareness to your brand, and if you have something else
to offer, you know, uh where you can monetize that.
That that helps a lot as far as you know,
getting getting money, because streaming, unless you know you're doing

(05:30):
like ridiculous ridiculous numbers, then you know you're just you
won't make that much money in streaming.

Speaker 8 (05:38):
The Independent Artist Act, they're checking us out. What do
you think? Hey word da radio show? On all social
media platforms on that level as well, can you what
do you think about the music industry? What do you
Is it something that you can change? Can you use
anything besides streaming to make money? Your thoughts were always
looking for you as well.

Speaker 14 (06:06):
You made me feel lucky.

Speaker 7 (06:08):
That's rus constilent.

Speaker 14 (06:11):
And then there's there's your all around me. You are
the world, my only one perfect from me, but it's
never perved. I don't know if I'll ever deserve it because.

Speaker 15 (06:26):
You don't change, and we found my way.

Speaker 14 (06:30):

love for you. There's nothing that I would in do.
There's nothing that I want to do when it comes
to you.

a live?

Speaker 15 (06:53):

reason I follow my heart.

Speaker 14 (07:16):
Sounds a graph I So when it comes to you,
there's nothing that I want inscrib.

Speaker 15 (07:27):

We got DJ Drek in the building. Man, DJ d
Wreck Man officially, welcome to the radio show.

Speaker 30 (17:14):
Thank you.

Speaker 8 (17:14):
I appreciate it, man, thanks for having me. No problem,
no problem.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
Man.

Speaker 8 (17:17):
As you mentioned earlier, man, you you worked with Nick
Cannon and right there on the Wilding Out show. You
are the DJ of that show. Man. So what's what's
that like?

Speaker 13 (17:26):
Yeah, sir, I'm the DJ and co host of the show.
I mean, it's a it's a it's a great show. Everybody.

Speaker 8 (17:32):
We're like a big family. We all, you know, when
we were shooting Atlanta.

Speaker 13 (17:41):
Wherever we shoot, we all stay in the same hotel,
so we take over a whole hotel and it's crazy.
And whether it's in Atlanta and out in the Inland
Empire or New York and New Jersey, you know, we
have cookouts and you know, out by the pool and
stuff like that. So you know, it gets wild at

(18:01):
the hotel, and it gets wild on set.

Speaker 8 (18:04):
So we just have a good time.

Speaker 21 (18:05):
Man.

Speaker 8 (18:06):
Yeah, that's what I was wondering with that. When you
guys are out on the road, I mean, when the
cameras are off, I mean, I'm sure the jokes don't stop.
I'm sure it's just the non stop you're just laughing.
It's not even work to you, right, No, No, it's not.

Speaker 13 (18:20):
I mean, you know, sometimes it feels like work when
you're on set, but you know, nobody's safe, and you know,
cameras can be rolling, cameras cannot be rolling if you
look like you need to get got at and somebody,
you know, you might somebody's gonna say something to you
or about you, or is somebody else about you and
pointed that you gonna know that you are the topic

(18:42):
of discussion. So yeah, nobody's safe.

Speaker 8 (18:44):
God our man, DJ our guest Tonight dj D Records
in the building. We're gonna be playing this new single
nine times out of ten. Coming up in just a
few moments here now before we bring in everybody else,
A holler at you. Now, you did a lot of commercials, man,
and I was looking at your You're real and I
noticed a lot of those commercials I've seen throughout the years, man,
And and I just want to thank you for a

(19:06):
lot of those commercials, man, because you got me eat
McDonald's throughout the years, eating McDonald's. And I never realized
that a lot of those commercials was you in them, man,
when I was growing up watching them. Yeah, and people
ever approach you on those Yeah.

Speaker 13 (19:20):
I mean, you know, sometimes people will recognize me from
a commercial. But yeah, it's been a long time since
I've done a McDonald's commercial. But for you know, there
was a time where I was, you know, I were
good auditions and you know, the cats that would be
in the room getting ready to audition, they'd be like,
oh man, this doue is here again. Because I was
booking like McDonald's. It's like I was McDonald's guy, you know,

(19:43):
and so I had a nice little run in McDonald's
commercials and not just McDonald's, but you know a bunch
of other stuff too. So ye, but yeah, yeah, now
you know, I put them online every now and then
and people people.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
See him and they go, oh, oh, that is that dude.

Speaker 7 (20:01):
I was a man I never knew, you know.

Speaker 13 (20:03):
And even with the Danny Phantom the theme song, you know,
people find out that, you know, I'm the voice of
that that TV show, and a lot of these people like,
if you're in your early or you know, late twenties
or mid to late twenties, early thirties, you grew up
on Danny. You know, you watch Danny Phantom, and you know,

(20:25):
you were really young when Danny Phantom came out. And
a lot of people come up to me and they say,
you know, Danny Phantom is the first rap that I
ever learned, and you know, and and it's funny because
I mean these are grown adults with kids and you know,
full beards and stuff like that, and they're like, man,
it's the first rap I ever learned. And you know that,

(20:45):
you know, you you the goat for that, and I'm like, well,
you know, I appreciate it, But you know, you just
never know how what you do can affect people.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
You know, you just you know, you just do it.

Speaker 13 (20:58):
You put it out there, and you know you go
live your life, move on to the next job.

Speaker 8 (21:03):
That's what's up. Brita living next to you and Chandelier
talked to DJ d Rex.

Speaker 31 (21:09):
Okay, okay, I have two questions for you and what
are those?

Speaker 10 (21:13):
What do you have like a favorite moment in your
career and what was your favorite part about creating this project?

Speaker 8 (21:24):
Uh, the my music project?

Speaker 1 (21:28):
Is that what you.

Speaker 13 (21:30):
Asked me? If what's my favorite part of creating the
music project?

Speaker 8 (21:34):
Yes, sir, okay.

Speaker 13 (21:35):
So to answer the first question, uh, I gotta say
one of my one of my favorite moments in my
career was performing the first time I ever performed at
Madison Square Garden and it was Nick and myself. We
were on the screen tour in two thousand and three

(21:57):
and it was bananas. It was everybody. I mean, you know,
B two K was the headliners.

Speaker 8 (22:04):
That was their their tour and everybody in New York
came out and you.

Speaker 13 (22:10):
Know, just to be from the West coast, you know,
we played a bunch of West Coast music and everybody
in the arena was rocking with us, and you know,
that's when Jiggelow was out, and you know, it was
just a really you know, surreal moment for me because
you know, we're in New York and it's the birthplace

(22:31):
of hip hop, you know, and and everybody just loved it.

Speaker 8 (22:36):
And so that was that's a big memorable moment for me.
Tell me about the single. Nine times out of ten
to me, So, yeah, it's the party record. It's a
it's a club record, and.

Speaker 13 (22:48):
You know, I just wanted to bring that fun you know, energy,
high energy, uh that the Bear is known for, you know,
the back to the forefront, you know, and hopefully this
song does that because I you know, I like to dance.
I started off in show business as a dancer, just

(23:14):
from being a bee boy and then dancing behind different
artists and things like that and doing music videos and
you know, just kind of being in the background but
part of it, you know. And that's what this song
made me do. With this song made me move, and
so that's what I want to do. I want to
make people.

Speaker 8 (23:31):
Move with this all right, man, we let's chigure out
this record. Nine times out of ten. DJ d rec
let's make it happen strictly independently about Benarmi music. And
it's fine. It's the radio show.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Independent artists live here. We got this independent game on lock.
They chigured out the radio show. It's that time again.

Speaker 32 (24:05):
Your boy gone off ten haine head, He damn near
broke my spine head trying to kill with a chick
this and nine to see honey. Rick Rock use a
food for this one, for everybody got to get a
boom and system. Even TikTok going fool with this one,
with this because Rick Rock was a boot for this one,
for this, the wreck with the bell on blame on
buss the bill.

Speaker 13 (24:25):
No, this ain't that.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Ain't that didn't know.

Speaker 32 (24:27):
I can go tiptoe day to put that on anything.

Speaker 12 (24:30):
This ain't cat So don't start none.

Speaker 2 (41:41):
MD.

Speaker 8 (41:41):
You've always had preached this right here about the artists
not signing with the major record company, and if you do,
you have a chance to lose a lot of money
and your business might not be handled correctly, and you
give up a lot as far as your your money
is concerned. If you choose to go ahead and take
that money that they give you when you first sign

(42:03):
a big signing bonus. If you do end up signing
with the major record company, make sure you hold the
majority of your licensee licensing a seventy thirty split. You
keep the seventy as an artist. The record company get
the thirty. Make sure you do that. If you don't
believe me, I've listened to a podcast I called it
what a podcast I was talking about this very subject

(42:25):
and how you should handle that. Here's what they were
saying on that podcast.

Speaker 43 (42:29):
So you never want to sell your masters, but artists always,
for some reason give up ownership of their masters because
they want that check, but they don't understand that they're
never going to recoup. The bigger the check you take,
the more in debt you are with the record company.

Speaker 8 (42:43):
But most artists are just very you.

Speaker 43 (42:45):
Know, create to take the money off the table, and
they'll sell their rights, and they'll sell for a royalty.
But if I'm advising you, I would tell you to
never sell your rights. I would tell you to stay
independent as long as you can, so you can basically
write the terms you want. Is where one you have ownership,
there's a reversion on the license. So you're doing an

(43:08):
exclusive license with the record company and the rights revert
back to you after ten years. I mean then I
wouldn't do anything more than a seventy thirty split because
you want to give them some skin in the game,
so the favor of the artists.

Speaker 2 (43:24):
So I want my artists to have at least seventy percent.

Speaker 43 (43:27):
If I can get them eighty, i'll get the ADI,
but I want them to have at least seventy percent.
I don't want any distribution fee.

Speaker 8 (43:35):
Yeah, some key thoughts right there. I thought he said
that that I liked. What he said is that no
distribution fee at the end right there, and you know,
make sure the record company you give them thirty, you
keep the seventy as an artist, and you know things
in that nature. There was those key things that's stuck
out in my mind. I thought I was listening to
that gentleman speak on that issue right there, MD, What

(43:57):
do you think about that?

Speaker 34 (44:00):
I like what he said, and it makes a lot
of sense what he was preaching, because there are a
lot of artists and independent labels. They they're too thirsty
for the business. And when you start making emotional decisions

(44:20):
and you don't make decision with facts, you're gonna get
I'm gonna say nine point nine nine percent of the time,
you're gonna get screwed. There's too many thirsty artists and labels.
They're reaching out for the money. And I understand why
they reach out for the money, because nine even nine

(44:41):
point nine you don't have big money that came into
the business. So they're just trying to get a handful
of money to pay bills, Give them apartment, get them
a little fancy car. They think, they think load for

(45:02):
themselves and they don't look at the big picture. And
I know quite a few artists it's too thirsty for
the deals and they think they're getting over too. So
I understand what my man is saying, and I agree
with him one. You know, it's a thought process. And
for urban music, a lot of music prospects don't have

(45:23):
thought process. They just go with the money, unlike.

Speaker 31 (45:29):
Right, So they gonna rob you, and you're gonna blow
all your.

Speaker 8 (45:31):
Money, yeah basically, and then you be in a hole
trying to have to happen to pay all that back
with your music and you realize you're not making anything. Oh,
you're gonna pay it back with your music if your
music sell, yeah, if itself.

Speaker 10 (45:44):
Look, but then if you got a low percentage that
you're getting, you know what I'm saying, that's gonna be
another problem too, because you weren't looking at the paperwork,
you know, like, if you wasn't looking out for yourself
or had somebody else looking out for you, then your
percentage ain't that high on what you're receiving on the
music in anyway, you getting all yourself off of performances?

Speaker 8 (46:03):
Mm hmm. And what do y'all think about that? Man?
Keyword da radio show on all social media platforms and

And you're listening to Love or Lust? Do you have

if it's love or lust? Let us all vote and

All right, y'all we inside of love and lust right
about now. Brita living next to human chandelier, the floor
is yours.

Speaker 31 (48:22):
It's your Girl Pretty Loving. Next The Human Chandelier, and
today on love or lust? The topic is is it
love or lust? If your spouse only wants you to
wear the clothes that they buy.

Speaker 8 (48:36):
For you, that would probably be lust right there. If
if you're only able to wear what they bought you,
that's lust because you're wanting them to look a certain
type of way. If you love them, you would accept
me for who I am. So that's love. Let mean lust?
I'm sorry, that's lust.

Speaker 21 (48:55):
That's love. That's love. But that type of love that
you don't want, you know, it's controlling. I wouldn't say
it's less because it's not. You're not even lessing after
the good clothes you wearing. You know she want to
wear her you know something that's maybe revealing, or you
know a color that you don't like, and you know

(49:15):
you not lesting after that. You just want to control.
You just want to control her or him, So you know,
you might be they might be so much in love
with you that they just want to control you. Like
mind mind, mind only do what.

Speaker 31 (49:27):
I let's call Andrew a telephone numbers? Are they monitor
and recruiting?

Speaker 8 (49:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 21 (49:32):
I can go in love with them and the type
of love that you want.

Speaker 8 (49:36):
Okay, you know what I and after you made that point,
clear man, I can see you right there, you made
a valid point. I didn't think of it that way.
You know, I guess it would be coming to you,
right the man that wants to make sure nobody see
as woman's we basically dress her up, covered up from
head to toe basically. So yeah, I see, I see
your point right there. You made it a valid argument,

(49:57):
valid argument. That's why I said it was the fence,
so I was reaching that. Well, that's that's cool, man.
We all got three different perspectives on it. ND was
on the fence. I said, love. Kelly Good said, uh, love,
but in a negative way. Britt, what do you think
is the woman when you brought this to the table,
love or lust? Agree with Kelly? Okay, okay, nothing wrong

(50:21):
right with that right there? I agree as well. Uh
Nicki Nikki My Nikki says, uh no, that's controlling. Okay.
She said, no, that's she's disagreeing. She said, no, that's controlling. Okay, Okay.

Speaker 34 (50:38):
I figure I figure women were looking at it that way. Controlling. Yeah,
they don't understand. We asked you the question is it
love or LUs. We didn't ask no statement, Well, no,
you know, it's it's cool, it's cool, she said. She
said she said lust at first, and she said she felt.
I guess what Kelly Good said was it's not love
or lust, it's controlling. So maybe that's that's where she's

(51:01):
going with it. But what do y'all think? All the
other ladies checking us out a keyword? Did radio shows?
Let us know your thoughts on that, love or lust?
Let us know we're gonna get inside of play the
slid right now. Let's go ahead and do that.

Speaker 8 (51:25):
One day, we're gonna have to do a love and
lust show. We got to let love and lust breathe
a little longer coming up soon, we're gonna have to
do something real soon with that on its own. Maybe
we need to do another hour or so with the
show here and give love and lust and breathing room.
That's what I'm thinking. It's all good. We got you.

Speaker 3 (51:45):
Up lately.

Speaker 8 (51:45):
Oh I know, yeah, yeah, she's been spising it up.
It's all good. We got to let love and lust.
Breathe that's coming soon. But two songs were about to
let breathe right now during Clay the Slid. This is
where we ask one fundamental question, and that's what should
we do with these particular songs. Should we be play it?
Or should we slickt y'all, slay the record, throw it

(52:07):
in the cyber trash, never to be heard from again.
