blessed as you are every Tuesday when you come here

(03:31):
is gonna be no different. We bring to you to
this platform tonight. A producer, a songwriter, a composer, he
is just a man of many talents. Songwriting is his specialty,
leading people and just being a motivator for people in
(03:53):
the art, showing them that them two they too can
be just like him. And that was so poor, But
I know this is just what God is using me
to push this to a whole other level today. I
am not really up to my part today. But God
is gonna have his way in this place always as
he always does. And we are bringing this Grammy nominated
(04:17):
associated man to this platform. He is an amazing rapper
and I'm telling you he just does so much more.
And I just can't wait till he comes on the line.
We are bringing to you Gordon Nance and we know
h Man Gellow Lockness and he is coming right now,
(04:38):
Is he on the line?
Speaker 2 (04:42):
What I am here with Jay, Let's thank you.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Let's thank you, my brother. I'm telling you all the
way over there, I'm telling you what a man of God.
And I know you love the Lord with your whole
heart and this platform just speaks to that. And I
know you want to let the listeners know all about you,
but I always got to start from the beginning. I
know you for a little minute already, but I want
(05:07):
the listeners to get to know you the you youth.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Yet I know, try did it begin for you?
Speaker 1 (05:14):
How? How did this wonderful uh musical artistic walk start
for you?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yeah? Ultimately it started at school. You know what I'm
saying that I had a gift for music. My pops
as a musician, so you know, it just kind of
runs in a family. My uncles do music and stuff,
and you know what I mean, I just you know,
I had a voice through rapping in high school, you
know what I'm saying, and people gravitated towards it. Graduated
(05:41):
out of high school, started making beats and stuff because
you know, I couldn't depend on other producers, so I
started to learning how to do it myself and uh,
and started selling meats in and producing for other people,
and and then I kind of took a hiatus from
rapping and I was just like producing and writing for
the artists. And then, you know, fast forward to like
(06:02):
two thousand and eleven, twenty twelve, a lot of people
around me was like, yo, like you're dope, bro, Like
you need to get back in the rabbit. So I
dropped a shaw called I'm a Push and it won
a contest. And I mean, the rest is history, you
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
You talk about the rest is history, like it's so
money to let.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Me tell you the rest from history.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
You know, he is so cute, y'all, This is my boy,
but he is so cute trying to be all cute
on this line. Let me tell you something this, what
haven't you done?
Speaker 2 (06:34):
You have been?
Speaker 1 (06:35):
I have been watching you for a minute and I
just see all the great things that you're doing with
your music thing. But you know, the listeners out there,
they want to know, how do you get to where
you are today? You know a lot of folks, you know,
they don't understand. They go to school, they learning this,
they doing this, doing that. You know, it's a transition
that takes you from place to place. What was that
(06:57):
for you? You know, how did you go from school?
Speaker 3 (06:59):
And what did you do to get you into this thing?
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yeah? Yeah, So ultimately, you know, it's all about relationships.
I tell everybody that all the time. Man, It's all
about relationships, and it's all about bringing something to the
table for other people, right, you know, it's one thing
to connect with people, and you know a lot of
times people need something from somebody, and especially people that
have like accomplished a lot, they're used to hearing that.
(07:24):
So how do you stand out? You stand out by saying, yo,
I love what you're doing. I would love to be
a part of it. But I also bring this to
the table. I noticed it where you know this could
really benefit you. Let me bring this to the table
for you. So for me, I started. I got an
opportunity to work for the NBA. I did music for
the NBA, and I brought something new to the NBA
(07:45):
that they had never witnessed before, you know what I mean.
And the NBA ate it up. And we was doing
raps and songs for the NBA and the people, the
fans was loving it, you know what I'm saying. I
did that for two seasons, and then and then I
started getting into a single license and where I was
doing music for like TV shows and movies and commercials
and that, and that's why I'm at now. I do
(08:06):
a lot of hip hop for TV shows, commercials and
and uh and movies.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
And see that's you. You you hitting this thing, Gordon.
I'm gonna get you, see you because you trying to
hit this like this is some minus stuff. I've been
in the same for a minute myself, and it ain't
no simple task. So I mean, all who you know,
it definitely is who you know. But there's gotta be
a formula, you know, because you know, you got folks
(08:33):
out there that's writing, you know what I'm saying, But
it's not they're not that stuff is not really hitting
it the way that yours is hitting it. Do you
feel that there's a particular formula that's really really spearheading
and making you go into these various platforms that you're
going into now as a rapper, especially as a rapper.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Yeah, yeah, I mean ultimately it's a combination of things, right,
But ultimately, you know, be be easy to communicate with,
be easy to work with, you know, be efficient, right,
you know what I mean. Timing is important. You know,
when I was working for the NBA, I was doing
songs in like two hours, you know what I'm saying.
(09:13):
The songs were the games were in at ten and
at night, the joint would be done. The tracks would
be done around midnight, you know what I'm saying, So
the same put it out, not in the morning. Yeah.
And I'm talking about like I will produce, I would write,
I would master, excuse me, I will mix, I WI
master everything in a matter of two hours, so you know,
and then as I did it more, I figured out
(09:33):
ways to keep it, you know, to make it faster.
You know what I'm saying. So, Yeah, ultimately it comes
down to being a fit and being good at what
you do, right. You know, you know, being talented and
being good at what you do is is important. It's
not the most important. And I know as artists we
hate to hear that, but it is absolutely truth. It's
(09:56):
not the most important to be talented. There's a million
talented people out here, but you cut that in half,
and that's how many talented and hard working people there are.
You know what I'm saying, Cut that even more and
half that's talented, hard working and easy to work with, right,
So you know what I mean. So I tell people, man,
(10:19):
you got to be likable. You have to be able
to hold a conversation. You have to be coachable, right.
You have to understand. You know, you might have come
out with the dopest idea, you feel it the dopest idea,
but now everybody else your vision. So you have to
be willing to adjust, you know what I'm saying, and
do your thing, you know what I'm saying. Now to
a certain extent, you know what I'm saying. I'll tell
(10:40):
you a quick story with the NBA. You know, by
my second season, they was trying to write my raps
and it was really corny and I was like, I
was like, yeah, I'm not doing it like people messing
me and they rocking me because the raps is dope.
Like I'm not about to do that, you know what
I'm saying. So you know, you know, you give you know,
(11:02):
you uh you are ju just but you know, to
not you know, to a point where you're comfortable, right.
But but I mean it's okay to be uncomfortable too.
But like you know what I'm saying, It's definitely up
to each person. But but more than anything, just to
kind of paraphrase again or summarize, you know, hard working,
(11:23):
talented and be easy to communicate with, you know what
I mean, because if people.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Like stretch it, I'm gon stretch it because you're saying that.
But just like you're hitting on the end, and I
really need people to hear what you're saying. You know
what I'm saying you you have to be bendable. You
have to be reachable, you know, And that's I say
this on this platform all the time. You got to
be able for people to get to feel you and
understand you and know that they're not gonna run left.
(11:51):
You know what I'm saying. You you have to be
that person that's gonna bridge that gap and help. And
that's what I love about you. You always are You're
always coaching and helping, and you know, oftentimes everybody don't
do that, you know, So it's really so critical that
you know, the listeners understand that. Yeah, you gotta stick
(12:13):
to what you know. You know again, you can't conform
to what other people do, like you're saying, you have
to be the best you you can be. And you might,
you know, you want to change as little yet that's it.
You might flip it a little bit, but at the
end of the day, it's got to be you, right,
It's got to be Gallows, It's got to be you.
You can't be nobody else other than who you are.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
You know enough, Yeah, not for nothing. That's why I
continue to get hired because there's only one yallow you
know what I'm saying. If I wasn't gonna be somebody else,
they hire that person, you know what I'm saying. So
you know, yeah, I definitely, I definitely recommend people just
be themselves and try to be as genuine as possible.
And I know, just starting it's hard because we have
people we look up to. I looked up to jay Z,
(12:59):
I looked up to Royster five nine, I looked up
to Revene. Those are people that really molded you, right.
I always get prossed. But after a while, I found
my voice. I found myself, you know what I mean?
And you know people, people won't compare me to them anymore,
you know what I'm saying. Because I got comfortable in
being myself.
Speaker 5 (13:17):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
That's it, and that means everything. You know, you knowing
who you are, even when I do vocal coaches, because
you know vocal coach as well, and it's like, you
gotta find out who you are. What voice is this?
You know, not the made up one that we faike defunk.
You know what I'm saying. What we're trying to be cut?
You know? You know what it is when we try
to be baby.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
You learn behavior, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
That's learned that to learn vocal you know. But I'm
going for the kill. I want to hear what who
is that in there? I'll try to bring that best
voice out for whoever that person is, and that means
a lot.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
You know you can't have stuffy.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
That's one thing about this business. You have stuff you
gonna get tied real fast.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
You got You're right right, tell them, tell them they listen.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
To me, dear, it is.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
For sure. Yeah, you have you have to give you
you have to go all in. You have to give
one hundred percent. You have to because if you don't,
there's always somebody else that is and you're gonna lose
that spot. The one thing that I tell people all
the time too, is if you get an opportunity, just
know it's temporary. Nothing is permanent, you know what I'm saying.
So every time you go and you put your you know,
(14:31):
you go in there, you go, you give one hundred
percent every time you have to.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
That's it, for sure, no matter what it looks like.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
No matter what it looks like, you know, you could
be you see, I was just trying to get that
become that grammy, right, I was trying to get that grind.
I just want to thank you. I want to I
want to thank you for just being that person that
really has spoke life into me and spoke to me
about this whole platform and what it is to get there,
you know. And again being blessed just to be in
(15:01):
that number, you know what I'm saying, so because so
many people entered that thing, you know. But it's competitive.
It's a competitive sport, you know, and you have to
be willing to take the nose as well as the yeses,
you know, and keep going, you know, not give up.
Just like you said, you can't give up. You get
this close, you can't give up.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
You know.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
So you got to be all in it, you know.
And I just thank you you songwright, you you you
you do all these great things. You produce, you compose,
you you just I mean you like now, I mean
I asked you before, how did it start for you?
But with a listener who's like into poetry and stuff
(15:41):
like that, do you feel that poetry is something that
could engage them and get them where they need to be?
Because most people say that it's poetry, you know, that
starts it?
Speaker 2 (15:52):
What did it?
Speaker 1 (15:52):
You know? What do you recommend? Do you feel that
they should do poetry? Or should they? What should they do?
How could how can they become this songwriter?
Speaker 3 (16:00):
You know?
Speaker 1 (16:00):
In experience? Do you recommend any places for them to go?
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Yeah? No, I tell definitely YouTube, right, I learned a
lot on YouTube and Google. You know what I mean.
I'm very self wol I'm not gonna lie and just
follow like what what makes sense? Right. Some people could
sing I can't sing.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
For my life.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Well I've gotten better. I used to be super told.
But believe it or not, I.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Don't play.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
You gotta lose listeners. Don't do that. But but no,
I tell people, you know, follow, go for what you
you know, what you feel. You know what I'm saying.
My daughter is getting into music herself and she's trying
to figure it out. She loves to sing, right, so
she's she's doing that, but she's also learning to make beats,
you know what I'm saying. And she's learning to rap too.
(16:54):
So you know, you and then you find with your
where you're comfortable at right, and then whatever comfortable at,
you know, you push a little bit harder on that,
you know what I'm saying. For me, yeah, it took
me years to be a dop producer, you know what
I'm saying. But as far as the writing, the writing
becomes natural to me, you know what I'm saying, So
you know, you know, I'm more comfortable doing the writing
(17:16):
you know what I'm saying. Whereas the production, and again
I love production, don't get it twitched, like I love
being creative and doing different things. But you know, if
you want something at fifteen twenty minutes, I'm gonna write it.
That's gonna be the fastest thing. We'll get another producer, boy,
and I'll write it and we'll make it as.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
No, that's that's I mean. And again everybody has that
strong point, right, you know that that's kind of comes easy.
You know, everything is not difficult, obviously, but there are
some things that you have to learn and you know,
get under someone. Is there anybody that you got under
basically that taught you and helped you and spirit headed
you to where you are today?
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Not really, I'm gonna keep it a buck Again, Like
I said, I'm very self taught. My daddy's position, so
he definitely got me, like you know, the basics. But
as far as like the writing and the production, like
I'm when I tell you I'm self taught, I'm self
taught for real, for real, like I experimented. I did
a lot of trial and error and figure things out
(18:15):
on my own, you know what I'm saying. Ultimately, like
you know, especially around the time when I came up. Man,
a lot of people are stinty, you know what I'm saying.
That's a big reason why. That's a big reason why
I'm so sharing because you know, I had to go
through people being stinty, you know what I'm saying. So
you know my thing is, yeah, my thing is like,
(18:35):
you know, I don't want to be that. I want
I want to help people. You know what I'm saying.
I want to help people win, you know what I'm saying.
But I think I learned things too to I'm not
gonna lie like as I as I cause I used
to get free information out all the time, and like
people used to get me pushback. People used to you know,
criticize me and stuff and all this type of stuff.
And I'm like, yeah, I'm giving my time and my
(18:56):
energy and y'all are criticized me and I'm trying to
help you. My opision's gonna help and uh so yeah,
and it used to hurt me. You should frustrate me.
So what I learned is, you know, I talked to
different business people and people would say, yo, you got
to add value to it. You might have to charge
bro you know what I'm saying, so people can understand
(19:17):
that they're getting out you. Yeah, you know what I'm saying,
Like you might have to charge, so you know, it's
tough for me because you know, my my thing, my
way of thinking was, yo, like why would I charge
for this? Like all of this can be found online?
You know what I mean. This is all information anybody
could find out right, and you know, they help me
to realize that's true. But you're providing it for them
(19:39):
to one day don't have to search for it too.
You're creating value. So now they are spending their hard
earned money to advance themselves. They're gonna take it more serious,
you know what I'm.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
Saying, So yeah, say it again. Yeah, yeah, I'm su
that's so serious. You know, you could give free stuff
and then, like you said, it's really not appreciated most times,
you know, because I'm a giver as well. You know,
I'm a person that gives as well. You know, you
know that, and it's like, you know, without putting the
(20:14):
price to it. You know, people take you for granted.
Straight up, they take you for granted, and it's not funny,
you know what I'm saying, Because you work so hard
to be that kind of a person, you know. But
you know, folk folk on do you every time, every time,
So it's important to know your worth, you know what
I'm saying. But it's also you know, it comes a
(20:35):
point where here you got to put that money in.
You know, you got somebody got to pay for what
you got because you put the work in. Hello, and
they getting it shorter, right, They ain't got to go
on on YouTube and learn this. And you know what
I'm saying, And why shouldn't you get paid for that time?
I say that all the time. You know you got
mad singings. Oh yeah, come sing for me, and they
don't want to give up nothing. And people don't want
(20:55):
to give it up, you know. But it comes a
point where it's like, okay, enough for this, I gotta heat, Hello,
I got, I got, And then when kids come in,
I got to feed my babies. Now come on. You
know it's real, that's right, that's right.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
You know it's royal talk, you know.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
But but I say this too, Like I said, I
do add value and I do charge. But for me,
it's about the money, you know what I'm saying, a
lot of times I'll charge people but I'm like, yo,
you got you got me in your corner. You know
what I mean, for for basically forever, you know what
I'm saying. So like people may charge for like a
I mean, may pay for like a consultation, and I'm
always there. I'm like, yo, if you got a question,
(21:41):
you need help with anything, I'm here. I'll never charge
you again because I know you're serious. So let's let's
make something happen. You know what I'm saying. So that's
the way I operate, and it works for me, and
it works for everybody that that you know, invests. You
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Ain't nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
I mean, that's what it's about.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
You've got so many wonderful songs, you know, and uh,
I you know, we can't really play music on content
on this, but I'm going to ask you to do
a little rap for me, a little something, something that
the folks to do.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Oh, that's hilarious, that's funny. I wasn't prepared for that,
but I mean that's hey man, hey man, let's let's
make it happen. Let's make it happen. Man. Listen, Listen, listen, listen, listen. Oh, listen,
all right, check it. So we on the radio and
you asked for some bars, and I'm outside of my
(22:34):
house to killing in my car. And this is how
we do. You know you're dealing with a star. I
came from the dirt and I'm bound to take it far.
This is off the top. Most of these haters talk
a lot, but they not often hot. I'm scorching hot.
I'm lopper, and when I spit, nobody's hotter. Gotta do
it proper. Plus I'm a proud proper Yeah. I got
(22:55):
my two kids, my two daughters. If you want to
battle me in the ring, the slaughter, my flow so wet.
They call it water, and it's straight up chaos. I
bring the order now. I'm just playing around. I'm just joking.
I stay hot, man, I stay smoking. I'm the fire
and after the fire comes to smoke. But I'm all
(23:15):
about positive, you know. I gotta leave y'all with hope, shit.
Speaker 5 (23:20):
Braising.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
That is it.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
That's what I'm telling you. That's my boy, that's my boy.
I'll tell you God, I'm telling you gall Are you amazing?
You know what I'm saying. And I just bless you,
you know, just again for being a part of this
platform and just bringing a little closer to what what
rap expertise is and mastering. You know, I call you
a master. I call you a master, bro because you
(23:45):
you do it all, you know, and everybody don't do that,
you know. So I appreciate your your craft, and I
appreciate all of you giving to the music industry, you know,
and you know, you can't get away without me, you know,
saying a little something something about your platform. Grammy associated
you know that all order, Bro, that's a tall order.
(24:07):
Tell folk about this.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Yeah. Yeah. So I'm a governor for the Philadelphia Chapter
Chapter for the Recording Academy also known as the Grammys.
You know, I've been with them for about I've been
a governor for about four years now. I'm going on
my fourth year and and it's been such an honor
to serve the community, serve, you know, help artists. You know,
I'm mentoring artists as well that are interested in you know,
(24:30):
creating a professional life and music. So do that. We
do a lot of shows, big part of voting for
who wins then the Grammys, and there's a lot you
know what I mean, there's a lot that music cares
where we help people that are going through a hard time.
You know, Yeah, with the Recording Camera Academy helps people
out that are going through a hard time. And just
(24:52):
a lot man the Recording Academy, you know, because you know,
the Grammy's got a real bad slack. You know, got
you know about hip hop right and black artists and
uh and and women for you know, not for nothing,
but you know, they're making such a strong effort and
I acknowledge them for that. And and I'm proud to
be a part of an organization that continues to evolve
(25:13):
and continues to uh look out for the artists. You
know what I'm saying. It's a it's a it's a
it's an organization that recognize like yo, you know what, Yeah,
you're right, we dropped the ball. Let us fix it.
And and I love that.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
That's it. That's it, that's it, And I mean, go on,
that's what it's about. You know what I'm saying. No
one's perfect. No organization is a perfect one. You know,
you know, you just got to keep trying and keep
striving and bringing people like yourself into the fold just
takes it up a whole notch, you know what I'm saying,
because of your caring and you're loving, and you're you're guiding,
(25:46):
you know what I'm saying, folk to where they need
to be one day. You know what I'm saying, even
if it's not Grammy, they will be the best at
who they're trying striving to be. Be it a singer,
be it a rapper.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Be it a producer.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
You know what I'm saying. You have that where you
can guide them and help them to make that transition
a little easier. And that means a lot, you know,
because a lot of people growing up you don't oftentimes
have somebody with your caliber of expertise that can point
you in the directions.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
You know.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
So, listeners, I'm just encouraging you. Please, I'm gonna have
this wonderful man just give out his information so that
you could reach out to him, because he's reachable and
he will get back to you. You know what I'm saying.
He's not like some folks. You know, they say they're
gonna and then they don't. You know what I'm saying,
I'm gonna call it out there what it is. You
know what I'm saying, some people. Everybody, I mean, come
on you Grammy or you know, and you on the
(26:37):
phone with me, you know what I'm saying. So people
need to understand you're reachable, and everybody's not there. Everybody's
not there. They say they are, but they not. You
know what I'm saying. I found a lot of stuff
when I was getting the family trying to do this
Grammy thing. You know, everybody's not everybody. So I just
appreciate you for giving me those those nuggets and those
(26:58):
gems that choose drop on me to show me how
to do this and helping me through this platform. So
I'm gonna give you to the listeners. Listeners get his information.
Here he go, Here you go.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Gallop Yeah yeah. So the website is gallowsworld dot com.
But everything every platform. If you search Gallo Lockness l
O c K n e Z, I'll come up on
every platform. There's only one gallow Lotness in the world.
If you see a page that says gallow Lockness and
it's not me, it's fake Gallos gallow Lockness everything shit.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Wow, you know, just just beautiful. And I'm so glad
to hear that you your babies is doing their thing.
In the in the music thing. Are they singers? Are
they singers?
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Rappers?
Speaker 6 (27:43):
Like?
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Yeah, Like I said, my little one, my little one
is making beats. He's really good at making beats. She's
working on the rapping and the singing, but she's really
dope at making beats. A matter of fact, I might
jump on one of her beats not you know, pretty
soon accidently, So cool cool.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
So well, the listeners they can actually go on your
your title or on your page. And actually here's some
of the stuff that you're doing with her as well. Okay,
cool cool?
Speaker 2 (28:10):
She is so so like so yeah, so like my daughter, No,
not really, not yet. Once again, I'm still fine tuning her,
you know what I'm saying. But yeah, you know, in
case time, she she's you know, she turned sixteen actually tomorrow,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
So she's a feeling like me.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
All right, So she's young, man, but she's talented and
you know what I mean, just you know, working with him,
you know, teaching her you know the importance of sticking
through and staying committed, you know what I'm saying, and patience. Right.
So so now it's beautiful though, man, She's grown beautifully
(28:49):
that's my oldest thing and my youngest. She's not really
into the creating side of the music yet. She's more
into like athletic stuff. But she does love music. She
loves singing along, and she's they both are huge fans
of Dad, so that makes it even do.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
She ain't the road with Dad. I love to hear
a man talk about a children, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
That's a beautiful thing.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
You know, I'm a single mama, so I'm glad to
hear a man talk about.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
His children like that, you know what I'm saying, and
doing what he gotta.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Do for them.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
I'm here to tell you that's that's a that's a
small order right there. But you you bringing it up,
you know what I'm saying. So I thank you so
much for really being there for your children, especially girls.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Girls.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
Just hear daddy, you know what I'm saying, So that
that's always that beautifulness of it all. You know, if
I was gonna ask you, so what what's your favorite?
Because you're a rapper, so I gotta ask you this,
what's your favorite? Or it probably ain't even one, but
try to dig deep and let me know what your
favorite rap song is.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Yeah man is jay Z so so fault? I love
that song Yeah by jay Z's so Paul because he
talks about how like you know, he found uh nah,
I feel like I've named the song on hold on.
I feel like that's not the tagle hold on real quick.
I'm about to google this because I know I feel
like it's not so Paul, it's so oh yeah, it
(30:13):
is so Paul. Okay, IM so ambitious. Sometimes so Ambitious
is the name of the song, and the song is
about you know how like uh this no matter what,
like despite whoever doesn't believe in, you still find a
way to keep going, You still find a way to
be successful, and you still find a way to keep
following the dreams. This song he talks about like he
really looked up to his uncle, but his uncle wasn't
(30:35):
really like digging his music or pushing him. And he
looked up to certain people and they weren't really pushing up,
but he had a passion for it. So he's like,
you know what, I'm still follow through. I'm gonna still
go And I mean, you know we already know jay Z.
You know what I'm saying. Jaz has been extreme.
Speaker 7 (30:50):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
So you know, yeah, I took to that song a lot.
So that is my favorite song.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
That is Wow, Hey, that's it, that's it.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
I love I love it because it is uplifting, positive,
you know, and and it's again guiding is guiding and leading.
You know, if you had to do this all over again,
would you? And why why would you? Because I know
we've hit rocks and we hit these bullses and the
testing that we go through in life that take us
(31:22):
to a testimony, what would you say about that?
Speaker 2 (31:27):
The only thing that I wish I would have learned
just things a little bit faster, you know what I'm saying.
But I'm I'm thankful for the lessons I've learned. I'm
thankful for the journey and and you know the yeah,
mainly the lessons. I don't really say losses because I've
learned so much. So I'm thankful for the lessons. And
I mean I've won a lot too, I've accomplished a lot.
(31:50):
So like I'm super thankful for like a lot of
the things that I accomplished. And uh nah, man, I
wouldn't really do anything. Oh, I just again, like I said,
I just kind of wish it sped up a little bit.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
That's so, you know what I'm saying, Wow, Wow, But that's.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
Like I'm thankful, Like I'm thankful. I'm thankful for like
the rejections I received, you know what I'm saying. I'm
thankful for you know what I'm saying. I'm thankful for,
you know, not getting handouts. I'm thankful that, you know,
I had to figure things out on my own, you
know what I'm saying, because it helped me, Yeah, help
me and helped develop me. And you know a lot
of people are like, you know, vindictive because oh, you
(32:28):
know what, I had to find this out on your own,
So you got to find out on your own. Nah,
I'm different. I don't want to be like that, you
know what I mean. I found this out, I found
this out, I found out how to do it. So
I want to help you avoid the mistakes that I made,
or I want to help guide you, you know what
I mean. So, yeah, man, I'm thankful for that.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
So so humble and I love that spirit. I do.
I love you for having such a humble spirit. I
do have to ask you you are also behind the
scenes in the sense of you know what, it is
to make sure or that you know your licensing and
mechanical rights and all this kind of good stuff, you know,
(33:07):
doing television stuff and doing you know, movies and different things. Yeah,
I know this would probably be another show, but can
you tell a little bit of how you know this
stuff and what it?
Speaker 3 (33:18):
What it?
Speaker 1 (33:18):
You know, some nuggets that the listeners can kind of
understand what they need to be doing on the merits
of movies and theater, you know, stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
Yeah, I mean, ultimately it's about getting your friend in
the door. And again it honestly, it just goes back
to who you know, you know what I'm saying. For me,
I just created a lot of relationships and just belt
with people. And it's not hard man to find who's
in it. Like all you have to do is like
hashtag sync licensing on ig or LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a
(33:48):
huge platform for sync licensing. Pretty much anybody that's in
sync licensing is on LinkedIn. But if you just hashtag
search sync licensing, you will see who's in it. And
then from there it's kind of like what I said earlier,
reach out to them, be an assets, right, like bring
something to and you'd be surprised. Man, Like, not for nothing,
(34:11):
hip hop is in the men and sing licensing, so
like you know, anybody could be in it. You just
have to be willing to put in the work. And
again he be somebody that's needed to communicate with. You
know what I'm saying, m.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
License that you know, because people hear about the copyrights
and they hear about the royalties and stuff like that,
is that the same you know, is the license? You
know what you just mentioned? Is that the same as that?
Or is that something else that they could do on
the merits of Yeah?
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Yeah, no, no, it is along the same lines. Now
with sake licensing, is royalties that you could collect royalties.
It's not like they used to be back in the day.
I will be honest about that. Like back in the day,
you could live off your royalties, right, you know this
is it's not like that as much anymore. However, with
sing licensing, there's a lot of upfront payment. So I'll
(35:02):
give you an example I did. I did a Sony
PlayStation at and for the ad and it's like thirty seconds,
you know, thirty seconds for the ad whatever, you know.
I made roughly about six thousand dollars on it, you
know what I'm saying. And then I did a I
did a Netflix trailer and that was the same roughly
around six thousand dollars that I made for that, and
(35:23):
again it was like you know, you know, it was
like thirty seconds to like a minute, you know what
I mean. So you know, it's definitely it can be
very profitable. But again, you just you have to know
the right you know, you got to connect with people.
You got to build with them, you know what I'm saying,
and get and get, you know, get your foot in
the door. When I first got in, I was you know,
I did exactly what I said. I I looked on Instagram,
(35:46):
I looked up the licensing. I seen who was doing it, right,
I seen who was killing it, and I reached out
to the person. I said, hey, what I need to
do to get involved? And it was a producer and
he charged me. He was like, yo, I got a beiast,
let's do it. So I you know, I knew I
wasn't paying for the beats because I'm a producer, So
I knew I wasn't paying for the beats, but I
was paying for the opportunity, right, So I was like
(36:07):
absolutely I pay. I said, no problem, man, let me
know your price. I paid it. And every song we
did got placed on TV. Right, And he was like, bro,
I've never worked with the artists where all our songs
got got placed. Here's some more beats. He was like,
you don't even worry about pay. Here you go, bro,
let's keep working and wow and wow yeah and that yeah,
(36:30):
and that's that's how that came to be, man. And
and then now I made a name for myself with
it and within the industry because you know, I get
a lot of placements weekly, you know what I'm saying.
I get at least two to three to four placements
a week, you know what I mean, on various TV shows,
commercials and different movies and stuff. So yeah, man, and
it's fun, Like it's fun. You get to collab with people.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
Sometimes I produce. Sometimes I just rap and I work
with other producers, you know what I mean. Sometimes they
even write the lyrics for me, you know what I mean.
And I just got a rap it yeah, wow. Wow.
They don't have a Yeah, they don't have a script.
It's a script right the company. I'll give you an example.
I did a thing for uh, push Pop. Uh. They
(37:13):
were they were advertising a new product called push Pop
Gummy Rope and uh. And then yet they had the
script and I just had to read the script, you
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Wow, Wow, And that's a that's sort of like that
on a commercial level because I used to do jingles,
you know what I'm saying back to the day, and
they would, yeah, they were some of them would have
the song already and you just had to sing what
they had or you know, like I said, I was
never one the other end where it was my stuff,
but I definitely was called in to do a couple
of jingles, you know. So it was really fun, like
(37:45):
you said, And it's always great because you get the
opportunity to meet other people.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
And that's like you.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
Said, Keith, you know, just meeting new people, getting familiar,
you know, getting a relationship. You know, it means a lot.
It means a lot. So you know who knows to
you do it or that? Yes, yes, but I'm just
so happy for you.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
I'm just proud of you.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
You know again, you know who.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
Am I little one?
Speaker 1 (38:09):
I mean, you know, I'm you know, I'm coming right.
I just got I just gotta get my duncans up.
But I'm coming.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
I'm coming to you.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
No, but I know, I mean that I really want
to work with you. We've been talking about this for
a minute and it didn't just never happen, you know
what I'm saying. But honestly, I just really, really, you know,
getting more familiar with the game, you know, because I'm
old school, you know. I all I know is the
old thing. And my kids is like, girl, you gotta
come up to speed because you way back, you know.
(38:38):
And I keep laughing about it because I'm definitely not
computer savva. I am telling you, you know, if I
have to, you know, if I had to do some
computer stuff to get somewhere, forget it, you know what
I'm saying. So I always got to freefore to help me.
I'm telling to call my daughters come here, help me
with it.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
You know it.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
You know it's real talk.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
You know.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
Some people just really computed.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
Dude, And I'm in that.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
I am that. But you know, thank God for people,
thank God for people like you, folk like you that
could take us to a whole nother level. And that
and and honestly that that's important for you to know
the legal stuff that you need to know behind this business,
because it's a shaky, shaky thing if you don't know
what your rights are and what you're supposed to be doing.
(39:23):
And you know what I'm saying, and know to get
into these you know, organizations that's gonna keep you safe.
You know I've been taking advantage of I know you
felt it at some points. You know, it's just yeah,
it's a learning process. But you gotta learn, you gotta hur.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
And if it don't feel right, if it don't feel right,
you know you talked about it, pray on it, you know.
I mean, if you believe in God, man praying pray
on you know what I mean. And if yo, you
know what I mean. Yo, God is real, so I
can tell you it's a start.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
Listen. And he he is definitely omnip as they say.
You know, he is around, and he's everywhere, and he
sees all and he knows your heart, you know. And
that's also why things come to you and come to
people that are just good hearted and about giving themselves.
And I really believe in this platform. This platform allows
me to offer the greatness in you what God is
(40:19):
using in you. To introduce it to the listeners who
don't know, you know, because when I first started singing,
I didn't know the music thing. I ain't know nothing
about it. I ain't have no family members to teach me,
none of this stuff. I just know I love to sing,
you know. So kudos to the fact that you're teaching,
you know, because that's what it's about. That's what it's about,
teaching up and coming. You know.
Speaker 3 (40:42):
Listen, you know I allow you.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
I mean that because you you real. And I can't
take no fake stuff.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
Man. You know, I can't take no.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
I can't take nothing fake.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
It ain't real.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
I don't want it, you know what I'm saying. And then,
like I said, I ain't about watering down what God
is building up us. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
He He's the reason for the season.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
And you you got to notice, you know what I'm saying,
in order for us to move forward in this thing.
And I just thank you. I just thank you so much.
Anything that you'd like to leave with the listeners, like
a word or inspiration or something you just want a
little tidbit.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
Now, I tell people, man, I tell people all the time, Well,
I'm an name two nuggets. One, there's a positive in
every situation. Yeah, I mean, no matter what it looks like,
there's something that you could learn in every situation, you
know what I'm saying. So once you get past whatever
it is, whether it's the grief or the happiness, make
sure you take something from it. Right second, Secondly, believe
(41:43):
none of what you hear, half of what you see,
and entirely in yourself. Please, entirely in yourself. Don't let
anybody talk you out of believing in yourself, you know
what I mean. So yeah, tho.
Speaker 3 (41:57):
Yo.
Speaker 1 (41:58):
That that's both heavy ones. Because I have man, I
have family members. My mama told me I couldn't sing.
You can't sing, you know, but you you gotta keep believing.
You gotta keep believing. I love you know, the whole none.
But she didn't think I could sing anything I canna sing.
Used to tell me to shut up all the time,
you know, But I just knew God.
Speaker 2 (42:18):
Had you know a plan?
Speaker 3 (42:19):
You know?
Speaker 2 (42:21):
Hold up? They say, you giving me mad level. Hold on,
you got a voids. So that's wild to even fathom.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
My mama listen, she didn't want to hear that, you know,
because she I'm telling you. My family was not musically
inclined on the merits of my my immediate family, you know,
my mama or grandmother whatever. They just want. They was
into that educacation. You're going to get your educucation. You're
gonna get this to bringing you gonna get.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
You know, they want to know.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
And that has nothing wrong with that, you know, nothing
wrong with that.
Speaker 2 (42:49):
But I love to sing.
Speaker 1 (42:51):
Singing was my thing and I and I knew I
could do it. I used to be in it. But
I ain't gonna lie. Drove them crazy because I used
to sing everywhere. I used to sing in everything, and
I mean listen, I mean it.
Speaker 3 (43:05):
They were sick of me.
Speaker 1 (43:06):
God, you're asking for something to eat. You know, I
sing about it. You know, so they were wanting like that.
Speaker 5 (43:11):
You know.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
But when you love, you know, you know that when
you love what you do, you know you're gonna you're
gonna spread it. You ain't nobody gonna stop you when
it's especially when it's God given. And of course you know,
being young, you don't know it's God given. You just
go with the flow because you just love it. You
know what I'm saying. You just love to have a
love for it, you know, so but God is so
good and again, thank you so much. You know, this
(43:34):
platform we always end in prayer, okay, and we always
ask the guests if they wouldn't mind praying us out,
would you mind rendering a prayer or just a positive
inspirational word, you know for the listeners.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
Yeah, absolutely, of course. Man. Like I said, I believe
in God. I listen. When I speak of God, I
give him a name to me. His name is Jehovah.
So we definitely gonna do that, you know what I
mean for sure. So Heavenly Father drover, we homely approaching
prayers to the time. We thank you for allowing us
to have a voice to speak to people that are
(44:12):
willing to uh take it to uh you know, follow
their dreams and follow their passions. We ask that you
continue to cover your children as we go through trials
and tribulations, and continue to watch over us, you know,
no matter what we're going through, and continue to forgive
us for our sins, because we.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
Do have good intentions, but unfortunately.
Speaker 2 (44:35):
We are imperfect and we do sin and we do
for short. So I leave you. I leave you with that,
and we love you.
Speaker 3 (44:43):
Jesus Christ name.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
Amen, Amen, Amen, thank you. Listen, be a pastor in
a minute. You know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (44:56):
You don't want to say I.
Speaker 1 (45:02):
Love you, I love you, but that's you know, that's
what we gotta be. We gotta be ourselves at all times.
And like I said, I don't mind being that for
you because I know you take it in love and
you give in love. And I just thank you for
being all that you are. Listeners, you need to get
his work. Can you tell them again just where they
(45:24):
can find your music and all your stuff so that
they can hear your wonderfulness. I've been sharing it on
my page, but definitely show them. Tell them is it
something that they could purchase on digital platforms?
Speaker 3 (45:35):
Now?
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Let them know?
Speaker 3 (45:36):
Let them know, bro, Yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (45:39):
Now, like I said, Gallowsworld dot com is the website.
But again, if you want to find me on any
social media platform or you got to do is look
up yallow likeness again. Once you type it in, I
will come up. I am the only one. So ye
Gallow likeness is the way to find me on any
platform social media, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, you know at all?
Speaker 3 (46:01):
God, bless you, thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (46:03):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
