Speaker 1 (00:00):
Pray the Lord, Praise the Lord. This is Paula Brion,
the Diva for Christ. Yes, divinely inspirational vessel anointed and
appointed for a time such as this. Yep, that's me.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Listen.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
You know we do nothing on this platform of the
testimony that always starts at nine pm Eastern Standard time
before we go to the Throne of God, and tonight
will be no different. Father God, I just was asked
that you would just have your way with this show,
do what you need this show to do for your people.
(00:38):
Father God. I'm just the vessel you used and appointed
for this time, just so that the listeners get a
closer relationship with you through every guest that we bring
on to inspire them and push them to a higher
level of You, Lord, so that they seek your faith,
so that they get to know you better and get
(01:00):
in relationship with you. Father God, we ask that you
will just move, have your way in this place and
do what you need done for your people to take
them from elevation to elevation. Father God, I ask all
this and a precious name above all names, Jesus Christ. Amen, hallelujah. Yes,
(01:23):
we are in the house. We're in the building. Yes,
and today, like every Tuesday, at nine pm Eastern Standard time,
and today will be no different, we bring to you
a power packed show. On today. We are bringing you
two for one is what I'm calling it, a double
trouble as we're saying, but not trouble, but just two guests,
(01:45):
which we don't often do. But today is a special day.
We want to empower and celebrate DJs, gospel DJs in particular,
who have bridged and just work so much great music
so that we will be able to celebrate it on
(02:06):
the gospel level. You know what I'm saying. We have
all of it. You know, we got the gospel community,
we got the contemporary, got all these different facets. But
we don't speak too much and give homage and pay
homage to the DJs. And today we are going to
do just that. So today we are bringing in the
man that I have spoke about many times. He is
(02:29):
a man of God, anointed and appointed our father husband,
just my brother. He is my spirit filled brother. And
we gonna bring to the platform my brother, Doctor d
Dwayne your knight. Is he in the house? Is he
all the love?
Speaker 3 (02:50):
I don't know, I don't know who he's in the line,
but I am, but he is. He's the person. Hey bro,
Oh for you, Oh my God, you know you.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Every time I bring you to this platform, I'm Google.
God got baby, I'm Google.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
You know.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
You's a busy important man. So whenever I could get
you to come and just bless the listeners, you know,
I love to do that. But how are you, my bro?
Speaker 5 (03:18):
How are you?
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Wonderful?
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Blessed, beautiful and blessed. Paula, Paula. And as always, it's
an honor anytime me and you be able to break
bread and talk about what the Lord is doing in
our lives or what they're doing in the lives of
the DJs, there is always an honor and a pleasure.
If you hear any noise, I'll quickly try to meet it.
(03:42):
I'm still at work for the day, so you might
hear a little noise here and there, but otherwise we
are good to go. I'm excited again. Thank you for
the opportunity. How God will was today?
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Oh God is good?
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Yes, yes, he's yeah, always in the midst doing his thing,
you know. Thank thank God for you you, my brother,
you know that are always digging you up, pushing you
up to the highest levels close as you can get
to God, that kind of just that kind of just
that kind of man and man of God, and and
(04:19):
and the listeners already know that because I always to
my horn about you. So this is today is not
going to be any different. Most of the listeners know
all about you, but what they don't know is that
you do so many different different things. We brought you
back as the gospel DJ on our on our line.
We had brought you as the funeral photographer, you know
(04:41):
what I'm saying on our line. But today we're bringing
you back as an ambassador, you know, for the UH DJs,
but gospel DJs in particular, because you are one of
the original gospel DJ right. I love it. I had
to do it, I bet I waiting for that moment,
(05:01):
have to say that, you know. Yeah, and my mister Damascus,
you know, I'm always gonna pull you out. Yeah, you
my bros. You know.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
But again we.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Bring you on this platform and we're gonna have you
to talk about what it is in celebration of the
fifty years of gosp yea UH set the toe for us.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Oh well, basically again, paul I thank you for the
opportunity to be on your show just basically and as
a lot of your listeners will know if they know
the story of hip hop. In nineteen seventy three, DJ
to Her Got hip Hop started in the Boogey down
Box and after that I just took off. But in
(05:56):
nineteen seventy five, Father God costs young men into the
ministry to duplicate what the hip hop DJs were doing,
but we were but to do it for him. So
what they was doing with hip hop and rap and
stuff like that, we he gave us the commission to
(06:17):
do it with gospel music because there was a need
the young people. Uh, there was a whole lot of
gospel music developing at that time, but very little of
it was being played on the radio. Radio focuses mostly
quartet was choirs h and that was the main focus.
(06:38):
But there was a lot of other genres of gospel
music that was growing on the streets, like the like
the gospel rap, like the reggae, like the gospel jazz,
like the gospel hip hop. Yeah, moving into South saw
and stuff like that. So we saw a need that
the young people in the churches were not privy to
(07:03):
this this type of music, so we took one of
the tools that DJ uses the most, the mixtape, and
we started making tape for the young people in our
church and giving them out so that during the week
they would have opportunity to listen to some music other
than what was on the radio. And yeah, and that way,
(07:24):
the music that they listened to would be enlightening and
they were able to see Christ and the hip and
got some rap. At the time, they knew reggae and
the colypso and the jazz and stuff like that. The
contemporary was really starting to take off at that time,
so the mission was clear, you know, exposed. They got
(07:44):
some music out there to the body of Christ, which
is what DJs do. I call us the street soldiers
because we are promotion, the street soldiers of promotion, because
we are out there in the chrenches promoting gospel artists.
I mean music normally before it even hits radio, or
(08:06):
we give us some play in the cos, at the parties,
at the skating rinks, in the parks, the backyards. We're
pushing our artists as an up and coming and really
really really before they even a lot of times before
they even hit radio. So that's what the mission was
to expose the different genres of gospel music to the
(08:27):
Body of Christ.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Yes, and you did that greatly. I mean through your
vehicle that God used just to push it, that gospel lighthouse,
you know. And that's where I go.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Back with you.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
I go back to the gospel lighthouse, you know, which
was the foundation for me because I was a secular person.
I was a secular so I didn't know. I wasn't
privy to the gospel meaner, but you you introduced me
to that platform. And I thank you so much for that.
You know, I knew about gospel, but you had a
(09:03):
gnat for just bringing me in as a house artist
in the gospel arena, you know what I'm saying. And
I really thank you because you were the first to
do that for me. And God thanks you truly, you know,
because of where my walk is right now, and you've
always been. That's why I call you my brother, because
spiritually you have fed me from the beginning, you know
(09:26):
what I'm saying, of this thing and to turn me
to make it right, you know what I'm saying. I
so appreciate you. You know, you always got to give
kudos to what it's due, you know, and you really.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
I've always been a house artist, but I wasn't a
gospel house artist until you touched my life. And I
just want to thank you because you made it fun.
You went to the gospel Lacke house what we used
to do, the electrics glad and we're the dance and
sing and all kind of stuff, you know, And I
just so thank you for that because that was such
an introduction for me to do this walk and be
(10:01):
proud of this walk.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
You know.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
You did you did.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
It, and man and man, we thank God for what
he did in our lives and what he's still doing.
But at the time, it was nineteen ninety five and
a lot of you know, saints for getting saved, and they,
you know, they needed something to do on the weekends,
on a Friday night, on a Saturday night, and a
(10:27):
lot of them came out of the clubs and they
enjoyed dancing, they enjoyed hanging out. And so what what
Father God had us to do, or had me to do,
was create I was one of I think it was
seven of us that created Christian events where what it
was the Christian supper club or a Christian light, a
(10:52):
lighthouse or something like that. But what Father God did
with us, he took us. He took us into a
club and we bought the Gospel into the clubs where
the Christian was able to come in and I only
have some good food, for some good fellowship and some
good fun. So what they did is we took them
(11:16):
past just the electric fly, but we let them be
like David and told them that you can dance like
David dance. Keep your clothes on, though, keep your clothes on.
So we could dance like that. We could dance like
David dance. And the liberty and the freedom of being
a christ that we were, and we was able to
have an excellent time. For about five years, from nineteen
(11:38):
ninety five to two thousand, we did the gospel our
house in Brooklyn on Utica Avenue. It was called the
Omni at one point, but yep, every First every First
Saturday month we were there with air fresheners and everything.
But he turned it into a couple hours of for
(12:00):
the Lord and Christians had a wonderful, wonderful time.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Praise God. Yeah, they we did.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Now we did.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
And he thought we could dance, and you know, as
a dance artist, that's my thing. You know, so anywhere
I could go and dance and hear that that what
what's the what's the mega hurts or whatever they call it?
The one twenty eight?
Speaker 5 (12:19):
What what you always say that?
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Yep, you always say that in your shoes yup and
you and you bring it up, you know, bring it
up that notch and it makes me feel good. That's
that good good feeling right there, you know. But yeah,
you you just amazing. But we we definitely uh want
to talk more about what your move is. There's a
movement going on and we want you to speak on
(12:48):
it before we bring your your guest on so that
y'all can tear teams because this is a two for
one on today. So I definitely know he's in the
line waiting. You know, we got we got allowing you
to introduce them. I ant wane introduce them, but tell
them tell the listener is about the celebration that's going
on right now, and then you could bring on our
(13:10):
special guests.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
Okay, okay, I'm gladly glad to do that. And basically,
this is the year that I celebrate my fiftieth anniversary
as one of the original gospel DJs, and what the
Lord told me about about about two years ago, was
(13:32):
that he wanted this celebration to be more than just
about me. He wanted he gave me a threefold vision.
He said, I want you to record the history of
the gospel DJs, and I want you to celebrate them
as a one unit and create a movement with them
(13:57):
together that we can move into the future and change
the industry of gosspel music as only a gospel DJ can.
So that was my instructures. We called the history, celebrate
those in the present, and then move forward to as
a unit to change the way gospel music sees gospel
(14:20):
DJs and to bring the ministry of the gospel DJ
the fivefold ministry that we have into the forefront and
change the industry the only way gospel DJs can. So
that was a mission given two years ago and nineteen,
I mean in twenty twenty four he started me on
that journey with the after Party aspect. And now we're
(14:45):
in twenty twenty five about to celebrate in New York
City and Harlem the fiftieth anniversary of the Gospel DJs.
And part of that, part of the brethren and the
leader ship that he connected me with was a gentleman
from all the way up in Boston that had was
(15:07):
a DJ himself and connected to DJs and events, and
he brought us together with some other people and we
started doing the after party, which we can talk about
a little later, but right now, we just want to
introduce my brother Mark Star Wars as he comes in
and welcome and welcome brother marking to the show with
(15:31):
Paul Leon.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Mark you in the head off everybody you know him
in the house and you don't hear me that in France.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Yeah, listen, everything is going on. Jesus is what's going on.
Everything is prop you love it? Love it?
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Yeah, yeah, God blessed. Welcome, Welcome my brother.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Thank you for having me. Doctor de is good to
hear you. Every time I hear this. I you know,
I'm saying to myself. You know, back in them days
when you all were doing it for Jesus, I was
still in the clubs. But I see that God was
getting me ready for such a time as this man.
And I'm working with you side by side. It ain't
(16:22):
always going to be easy, but I'm going to be
your right or died my brother.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
I just want you to know that, Thank you, Thank you.
Together together we're just going to do what our father
God has called us to do as a team. I
always believe in teams and Jesus and the Bible teaches
about teams, not to mean solo artists ministries. In the Bible.
(16:46):
Even Jesus he had to empower the authority to go solo,
but he still had disciples. So together, we're looking forward
to what God is doing with us and with the
at the party and also right now with the celeb
fiftieth anniversary celebration in New York City. It takes place
in August sixth to the tenth. August sixth to the tenth,
(17:09):
we will be in Harlem with a three told, a
threefold ministry. On that seventh of Harlem of August the seventh,
we're going to do a historic photo that's never been
done and probably never be done again. The goal is
(17:30):
to take a picture of one hundred gospel DJs, and
some of you know the history. In nineteen fifty eight
it was done with jazz artists. About forty seven jazz
artists all came together Harlem took a picture. It's called
the Great Day and how Harlem in nineteen ninety eight,
they did again with hip hop. It's called the Great
(17:52):
Day in Hip Hop. It was about almost two hundred
hip hop artists got together at the same location and
took a picture. And so what we're gonna do on
August seventh, we call it a Great Day in the
Gospel and we're gonna looking to bring in a hundred
d JS mobile Gospel DV to take a picture of
(18:12):
us all together as one unit to celebrate the fiftieth
anniversary of the gospel DJ What do you think about that?
Speaker 2 (18:19):
But to Mark, I absolutely love it.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Man.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
I you know, I'm listening to this and I'm thinking
back when I met everybody. We all came together in
Nashville and I met follow the first time. You know,
doctor du and I we're getting together before that to
make things happen. I don't think we met in person
prior to that. Yeah, you know we are. We are
(18:49):
just changed together, you know, on the phone, and we
really made some things happen. And I am truly truly
blessed and motivated to see what God that was just
getting us started back then. I see where this going now,
and I'm just very excited. I'm very excited, and you know,
(19:11):
I see what God is doing because you know, like
you said, doctor b just because we love Jesus don't
mean we can't have a good time. We just need
to create our own environment. We don't have to cross
any lines to go out and have a good time.
You know what I mean. You go out and have
the time and bring a soul to Christ. At the
(19:32):
end of the night, it ain't about the ninety nine,
it's about the one. Then we've done what we're supposed
to do. And then I really did we see that happening? Yeah,
because the funny thing is is that it's not and
I shouldn't say that it's not funny. So the other
day I was doing a gospel brunch this past Sunday
(19:54):
and they had a quick five minute fashion show. Now
they had three models, and when these models came out,
I have to want some gospel house music al hot mix.
Holmes and I looked around the room and then we
had the old seasoned saints bopping their heads watching the
(20:14):
models come out. They was feeling it. So that led
me to seeing that, you know, we have to start
creating our own environments instead of going into the world's
in environments to do what he's calling us, and we're
gonna draw those people into our environment so that they
(20:36):
get the full of fact. And I see that's what's
coming up and what's coming down the pipeline. You've got
something great happening. In August June twenty seventh, Kiar in Boston,
we're having the in Boston, we're having the first We're
having the first ever worship on water boat Crew's Lunch
(21:00):
and that's taking place on Friday twenty seven, So it's
gonna be from eleven to two. They're gonna be on
one of those ships that goes around the hobby. You're
gonna have a nice meal, and then in the afternoon
from four to eight, we're gonna have an after party
meet and Greek from four to about eight thirty where
you can meet members of the New England Gospel Collaborative Network.
(21:21):
We're gonna have artists there, We're gonna have entrepreneurs there,
we're gonna have DJs there. We're just gonna have basically
a lot of organization. So I'm inviting anybody that's in
this regional area to come on up for this event.
It's definitely going to be a day that you will
will make family new family members in the body, make
(21:43):
some great connections and probably get a blessing on your life.
I don't know in what way, but I really see
that happening. But it's gonna be a good day, you know,
And I just want to see them, you know what
I mean? Who knows you come.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Up there out when you said, well on that note,
I want to make sure that, yeah, we all won't
come up there were getting.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
In one targ d.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
I love it listen, but no, we're definitely trying to
support you on that, my brother. But I definitely want
to have you to give your information onto how they
can reach out to you in particular with that particular
project there, because they need to be in the house.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Well, you could definitely network with me on Facebook. Mark
starwork on Facebook. The New England Gospel Collaborative Network. We
do have a Facebook and an Instagram page. I believe
it's doing g at New England Gospel Collaborative Network. Will
I will give you a number out on this line
tonight that anybody want to connect with me directly, because
(22:53):
I do believe in those direct connections. You can reach
me at eight five seven three five one six four
one four. That's eight five seven three five one six
four one four. That's a direct line by direct company line.
(23:14):
I am the I am the owner of Mark Mixed Productions.
It's an official LLC and also president of the New
England Gospel Collaborative Network, a division of the GIN. And
what we do is we're connecting all these resources together
for the Kingdom. If you need gospel DJs, we have them.
(23:38):
If you need sound and lighting, we have it. If
you need artists, we have it, and we have we
just feel that we have a lot for the Kingdom
to offer. So we're coming. But June twenty seventh is
our Gospel First Annual Worship on water boat Cruise and
then we're going to have an after party meet and
(23:58):
greet at the Dewitz Center. There will be a flyer
posted on my Facebook page. So just give me about
another week and it should be up and running.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Praise God, Praise God. There's power power on this line today.
So we're definitely having a old time just listening to
all this wonderful nests. You know, But I you know,
y'all are being a little bit modest. I gotta go
back to doctor D now. You know, d you you
gotta nat for for bringing folks together with power and
(24:29):
I and I so appreciate you. I told you, you know,
coming out of the secular, you know, you was the
first uh like uh introduction to gospel on a house level,
on a dance level. You know, I had never experienced that.
You know, I'm a Catholic school girl by trade, right,
and that's how I begin, you know, until God figured.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
It, he would be worked it out, you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
But you you're you're your original gospel DJ. But you
mentioned that there were others. Can you at least stay
their names? You know, let the folks know that one
of the sticks say yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Definitely, yes, thank you for thank you for reminding me
of that. In nineteen seventy five, the original six was
Vincent Stokes, his brother Cyrioh Stokes, Basil Jones, Montevanni Pennock,
Ronald Lawrence, and myself. We were the original Digit Deep
(25:30):
Goss the djys called in nineteen nineteen seventy five. I
was fifteen at the time. I was all I was
the baby of the bunch. So the next about the
next ten or eleven years we rolled together as the unit.
And then about about twelve years into the MINISTRYT Cyril,
(25:52):
he got married and moved out of move out of
the move out of New York. And so another animal
that we knew, and there was DJ and also and
I was doing some gospel skating and stuff, and then
it was Paul Gordon. We brought him into the group
and for the next couple of years. That was the
(26:13):
sixth DJs right there. But God just used us to
set the platform for what gospel DJs are today, and
with roller skating, with with with clubs, with a lot
of platforms. So we were grateful and I'm grateful, super
(26:34):
grateful that the original six DJs are still alive. DJ Paul,
he has gone on with the Lord for about about
ten fifteen years now. But and we will be honored
if if the Lord push allows us to do the
(26:55):
award gala on the eighth, we will not only honor
the DJs that are alive now, an any DJ that
has gospel DJ who has played either for five minutes
or fifty years, we're gonna honor them. And also we're
gonna honor the original gospel DJs. Some of the pioneers
(27:18):
like Scottiswell and others, and also we're gonna honor those
who have gone on like DJ Paul and DJ Lace
my partner in crime, but DJ Relations and Sherry. Together
we the Lord use us to create the first gospel
DJ record pool and also to do the first God
(27:41):
Chris Gossip DJ Convention. So together we did a lot
of things for the foundation of what gospel DJs were
in gospel music. So you know, the Lord gives us
the revisions. We're gonna we're gonna honor the DJs for
(28:01):
down the fiftieth anniversary, but there's nothing less. We want
to celebrate with the photo of one hundred sessal DJs
on August sixth, and then on August ninth, we're gonna
we're gonna go up to my radio station up in Harlem,
w h c R ninety point three FM, and we're
gonna have a fun, amazing Saturday from ten am to
(28:24):
ten pm. Well, we're going every hour you're gonna hear
a different DJ mix. You might hear an artist come
on and sing and talk about their industry as well
as the DJ. So we're looking for a wonderful, wonderful
time from August sixth to the to the ninth and Harlem, USA. Yes,
(28:48):
hallm week y'all.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
We know about Halloween halloweek. That's right, that's where everybody
comes and just just fellowships and come together in love
and I and I just want to thank you because,
like I said, you be humble sometime and I just
want you to come up out of your bag because
this is the time, my brother.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
People need to know.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
You know that you are the first, and you know
it's something special about that first. Now you know that first,
You know something special, you know, so praise God. And
even with all the stuff that you're doing, you're bringing
it to the forefront and you're bringing people with you.
You know, on this journey. God would have you to
bring people with you. So I got to reach out
(29:31):
to you and tell you ask about this wonderful car
of people that you're brought under this umbrella, this movement.
So I want you to you know, you feel no
way to face some names and drop some names on
who your crew is, but we definitely want to know
more about who's in this impact. You know, who's part
of this movement because one man can't.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Do it all.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
You know, we know that and you know that you
know what I'm saying. I'm just waiting for you to
just steal those names.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Well, well, blessed the people. The people who have been
rolling with us thus far with the after Party. Two
of them right here online, Mark from Boston. And we
have Paul Bion from PRIs Sylvania. She she's been rolled
over us and season seasons. Okay, she's in charge of
(30:24):
the like she said, the Gospel House segment of what
we're doing because a lot of things we do with
the after Party where we connect to different organizations and
bring a party into their organization on the last day
of their event. We also have a young lady that's
(30:45):
as one of the pioneers and hip hop itself, DJ
Flames part She's been part of the new YouTube YouTube.
She's been part of what's been going on up to now.
We also have two gentlemen comes out of Chicago, Shottown.
We have our Hot Mixed Homes and Ed Get Down
(31:09):
Crosby two, two high DJs up there in Shidetown. They've
also part of the foundation of what we've been doing. Also,
I have DJ Larnell uh Thatcher who just got his
master's degree this week up up in Connecticut, so we
(31:31):
are so so excited with him. He's one and not
only is he a DJ, but he's one of the
baddest MC's out there, rock the party. He can flow.
He's even blessed to have him aboard. We also have
d J UH the Desires up there in Massachusetts area.
(31:54):
I think I always think Boston Mark, but she might
not be for Boston. I think he's a little high up,
but she has an on radio show and doing some
great things a gospel up there DJ Desires. She's a
part of it. And probably the only person that's not
a DJ that's part of the advisory council is a
(32:18):
Miss Inquestor White. She has been a manager of the
manager of different artists. She knows, she has a post
on the flow of gospel of the gospel music industry,
and she has She brings a wealth of intelligence to
this platform. So Uh, BBJ, I can't forget last, but
(32:43):
definitely not least a brother that I had the pleasure
of DJing at his wedding when he was in the
height of blowing it up as bb J Gospel UH
Bachelor and hip hop artist Bbjay is part of the
team UH and you know, together, God has blessed us
(33:08):
to do what we've done so far as the counsel,
to set the foundation for the after party and what
we're doing to bring the su anniversary celebration to New
York City again the August sixth to the ninth. Callum
is the birthplace, I mean, is the place where we
(33:31):
will be. It's not the birthplace of gospel music. The
birthplace of gospel DJs is Brooklyn, the planet Brooklyn. But
that's what that's the crew that God gives me thus
far to to do what we do. And and like
you said, if you didn't say, brother Mark is like
(33:52):
my right hand. We chop it up a lot behind
the trenches and we we keep we we we keep
division going. We we shoping each other. Uh what God
have us to do with the after party? And so
I'm so grateful for him and everything that he brought
(34:13):
to the table insight. You know, we we we're a
good team, Mark and our making a very very good
team of leading the fifty the Gospel DJ movement where
we're that's what it's called. The Gospel DJ Movement is
(34:34):
the first time in fifty years that DJs have been
summon called unified in one body, celebrating one each other.
And then we're we're going to move where we can
(34:55):
together make an impact in the gossip music industry. And
if it is today, well.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
I'll tell you this is an action pack uh uh
interview right here because it's so much history, you know.
And and again I'm not a DJ. I thank you
for the credibilities. But you know, maybe God is gonna
you know, because you just that's not a DJA.
Speaker 5 (35:22):
But but yeah, but I just want to I want
to humbly say thank you to all the DJs that
are on this platform listening on the gospel DJs and
beyond that have helped me to bridge my career.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
You know, I would not be anything without my DJs.
I tell anybody that. So it's a it's a personal
thing for me just bringing you guys on this platform
to speak on terms of celebrating and the excellence that
you guys have bestowed upon this industry. And and people
need to know that I I'm here. I'm always here
(36:01):
to set the record straight.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
You know.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
I thank you, though Doctor D for bringing me into
the gospel rem as a house artist. You know, because
like I said, I was known in the secular. You know,
I'm on Tommy Boy Records and you know, on and on.
But it wasn't until I went to the gospel like
Our's baby, and that I knew what it was to
(36:26):
be about God and not being ashamed because we had
learned back then it was you know, you weren't supposed
to dance as no question, I'll damn you. And we
went through it. Then we go through it d we
went through it then and them clubbing. You know, look,
I'll tell you, but we still standing. Yet we still standing,
(36:47):
you know, So I prayer, I just took God for
you and you and you coming on this platform and
just just being all that you always are when you
come on this platform. And Mark, I am so honest
to have you and bring you to the listener. But
you know this is always an open door policy, and
we want you to come back because I know you're
(37:07):
gonna have some wonderful other things that you're gonna come
and talk to us about. Listeners, You are being blessed
right here and right now. This is a movement and
we on the move. So y'all just better watch it
because we come into your country, your country, your state.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
Listen I'm blaming country.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
We we go into the country, not just the state.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
And we're gonna we're gonna bring this movement your way.
We claiming it. And Jesus Mighty name, Amen, I need
that big mouth because everybody me pay me to That's
why they paid me.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
The big month.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
Now let me talk about God is the elevator and
he elevated you know because I tell you when I
was a kid.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
Oh yeah, yeah, girl, come on, come on yeah, I
got a TV back off of something that was while
it's still fresh up my mind, and it's the relationship
between the independent artists and the DJs is really stronger
than that of the independent artists and a label. And
(38:15):
I say that because it's always easier for us to
support those independent artists because we're our moving for that
next big blessing or that next big song that's going
to move the people of God in a certain way.
And that's one of the things that I like about
(38:37):
what we're establishing here with the gospel DJ movement, because
you know, we had record pools back in the day.
But back in the day, the state the radio stations
were coming to the clubs because they were trying to
see what we was playing and while we was getting
all of that, and then you hear it on the radio,
and I think that, right, I really think that where
(39:00):
we're going now, that is what you regress back to
that it's gonna be a lot for us to drop
tracks of new artists at our events as opposed to
everybody trying to give you on radio. Everybody knows that
radio track is only gonna well a certain time, a
certain a certain bottle spend or depending upon who you.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Are, and that's who you know. That's right. As an artist,
I'm giving you. I'm giving you respect for that because
I'm telling you y'all, y'all, d days is what breaks
the record.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
They could they try to give it to radio.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
But radio don't be breaking the record because when people
leave them clubs because we we know everybody was clubbing now,
you know everybody even in the club. So so my
thing is when they heard something that sound good, it
is awful. Wait a minute, I would go get that.
So so when when I hear people say as an artist,
(40:02):
and it really vexes me and I mean that, I
have to pray on that. You know, people got to
put their hands on me with that because it's really
the DJs that break them songs that have made them hits.
And it's it's so unfortunate that they you guys have
not gotten your just due. And that's why I'm on
it to be a part of this because I am
(40:23):
like the biggest advocate for DJs because DJs. If it
wasn't for the DJ, where would I be? And if
and and being a gospel DJ, it's even more special
because where would I be without the God.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
First and the DJ?
Speaker 1 (40:41):
You know saying, I mean, I'm putting it right out there.
I'm putting it out there for the listeners. You need
to understand this thing. So when you know, you hear Christians,
and I mean it because that's my platform, I'm raw
with it when you hear Christians talk about, you know,
gospel dance or house or DJs that that service this
music is not about nothing that they're not important.
Speaker 2 (41:04):
You gotta be kidding me.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
You know, the DJs is what the remixes is what made.
Speaker 4 (41:12):
The biggest songs get bigger. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
You got the Michael Jackson remember the time. You know,
you got all these but the DJs minutes took it
to a whole nother level and it's still happening today,
but you don't hear about it because nobody talking about it.
I'm putting it out there because I know the back
behind the scenes and all that you make us who
we are. And I thank you, I humbly thank you
(41:39):
for this is heartfelt because you.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
Don't get this.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
You don't get this kind of do and you deserve it.
That's why this movement was imperative for me to be
a part of it. And I thank you doctor D
for bringing me into this. Because it's personal. I'm able
to give back to everybody that has supported me because
everybody may not have been in gospel, but they've arrived
(42:03):
and they're here. But most of them people have fun
my stuff and may pull a Brion.
Speaker 4 (42:10):
Who's here is billboardtard whatever.
Speaker 1 (42:13):
But if it wasn't for the DJ, no one would know.
Label would not have known. See, but that's the history
I can bring, you know, that's the history as an artist.
Just being a part of this, I'm honored. I'm honored
and that and that is is what it is. You
(42:34):
know what I'm saying. I get passionate with one thing.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
You already know and The one thing that is, do
you know one of the things that we do as
DJs and as DJ's, it's like we can take two
of Parlor's songs and mix it right there on the spot.
You understand what they're saying, and we have our own,
We have our own to it versus the radio only
(42:58):
want to give you this quick three minutes. Make sure
you salgate no longer than three minutes. Hey, if we
want to make it twelve minutes, and people are there,
we gonna take minutes and we're gonna keep them on
the more. It's at that that people don't really get.
That's why you had all these remixes coming out back
in the day, because it was from the DJs on
(43:21):
the streets and in the clubs and in the acting
events and stuff. And I really think that for the
independent artists, the gospel DJ movement is going to be
a force to be reckoned with, and the labels are
going to start paying attention to get because it's thetis.
There's not everybody in time of day where we are.
(43:42):
You know what I'm saying, that's it so fatally see it.
I really see where we're going. And you know, as
the one thing I like about our division is that
we're self contained. We got dejas, we got lighting, we
got potargepup, we got radio, we got television, we got
(44:04):
direct access to everything right intruction. Now, I just I
just came from a meeting. I had a meeting with
my organization tonight. Big shout out of love to the
New England Gospel Collaborative Network out of Boston, Rhode Island, Worcester,
(44:29):
the New England region. And we were talking about some
of the same every things in terms of doing events.
And you know what we've got coming up. I've got
some great people that that we have gospel tests coming
up in July. We got the Elevation Conference coming up
this weekend, and all this is going on with direct
contact with DJs and artists. I went to an event
(44:53):
last Friday, christ JAIB given by our gospel DJ Antoine,
DJ Triple Threat, and I walked into the place. He's
got young ladies reciting spoken word and singing their songs
and we got going on. And it's a Friday night.
It's a Friday night. You understand what it's saying. And yeah,
(45:15):
I said earlier, we have to start creating our own
environments and inviting those to come inside it. And to
day it's about finding the church people to come in Friday,
it's everybody else and I'm not excluding the church or
let's face it, it's more it's bigger than them and
we want to bring them in to show them you
can have a relationship with God and have a great life. Yeah,
(45:38):
And I think right there, Oh, Key, that's it, that's it.
Speaker 1 (45:44):
It is Key is everything you know and people need
to understand this thing. It's real, it's real.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
And let me say this, let me say this fall
before you gotta go figure back on something. Walk said.
One of the things that makes a guy to DJ
DJ in general uh uh strong is his quiver. The
DJ has a five four ministry. The first I call
(46:12):
on the five rs it's released where we can release
a song before radio while coming up in the in
the streets. Then is uh we post where we can
play the music parallel to what radio is doing, so
we can give the the artists and the music that exaboosts.
(46:33):
Then we can remix, we can remix live uh while
we mix it in our set. Then we can reproduce. Well,
we can go into the studio and and do a
whole different remix on it, and then the last one
(46:54):
is I forgot. But basically what they are is when
we bring that hit and the one video is not
playing it no more and stuff like that, we can
re release. We can re release yep, the song, yes,
still make it hot and bring it back to the reverence.
Speaker 5 (47:11):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (47:12):
So the Gospel DJ have the five fold ministry you
call the five rs otherwise the five full ministry or
to make us the powerful tool and artist and we
are artists that we are.
Speaker 1 (47:27):
Yes, yes, Praise God. You guys are amazing. I'm telling
you I need two hours, two hours God, this was
not enough time, Jerry. I'm getting off right now, Lord,
But definitely you know I want you I know because
Jerry's like, oh hey, okay, no, no, I want you
d to give you know, your information where people can
(47:49):
reach out to you. And then after that, I would
like Mark to give us prayer out.
Speaker 3 (47:56):
Okay, hey, man and man pople calling out to me.

has done to you, Meditate on what you're going through. Father,
we thank you tonight for this fellowship. You said in
your word, where two or three are gathered, you would
be in the midst. So Father, we thank you for
the vision tonight. We thank you for the bringing of
(49:42):
min's hearts and souls together. Father, as we need this
will certainly not your presence. Let it go forth, Father,
as clear instructions on what you have called us to do.
Let us be obedient to the calling, Let us be,
Let you be out, Jehovah, Jirah, our provider. Let us
know God, thing you've called us to do. You've already
(50:02):
set the provision in place. We just have to do
it God in decency and in order. Father, we asked
you to look over to everybody on this call tonight, no
matter what they're going through, Father, bless them and encourage
them to stay strong in Christ as we stay strong
in our faith and you stay strong in us. So, Father,
we thank you tonight, We thank you going forward on tomorrow,
(50:24):

have brought us through. Father, We thank you and glorify
you in Jesus name. We pray, Amen, amen and amen amen.
