married Christmas. I'm Bryce Chazech.I go to church with Dan at
Rockfish Church and happy to be here. Yeah. The thing he does really
(00:27):
well is make me feel bad aboutnot going to the gym. When you
look at Bryce, you realize he'sbeen and it hadn't been long, right,
But man, it is so goodto be with you today. It's
so good to be with you,Bryce, And we have some great things
planned. We're going to give youthe opportunity to win some stuff in a
few minutes. But let's talk realbriefly about holiday traditions. I mean my
(00:50):
family. You know, all ofmy kids live locally and most of my
grandkids live locally, so we havea tendency to stay in town. What
kind of things do you and yourfamily like to do during Christmas? Yeah,
so my wife, Gina, hermom lives now in town as well,
and we spend a lot of timewith her. Uh. Sometimes we
will have family come and visit.I got my dad lives in Florida.
(01:11):
My mom lives in Kentucky, sowe're kind of spread out. So it's
a drive if we go anywhere. So when you do drive, I mean
you mentioned Kentucky. Who does thedriving? Oh me? Yeah? Now
are you a lead foot? Andis your well are you yeah? Are
you the guy for all the copslistening? No? But yeah, yeah,
I gotta make time, you know. And you know that's me and
(01:34):
my wife is. And I've gotas I've changed over time, you know,
as I've gotten older, I haveused cruise control more. But it's
it's like cruise control like three orfour over, you know. And and
that is my that's my fallback, you know. If I need to go
a little quicker, all I gottado is step on it. But you
know when I let my foot off, it doesn't go all the way back,
(01:56):
right. Yeah. But my wife, I don't know if it is
Gina your wife? Is she afast driver? No? No, she's
yeah, she kind of obeys thespeed limits, like kind of like yourself,
maybe three to four over. Sheplays it safe. But I always
and this is just the thing,I can't fall asleep in a car,
so I'm always on edge, andI just I like to be in control,
(02:20):
and you know, I think that'sa lot of us. And you
know, I would prefer to drive, but I defer driving more often nowadays
because I don't need someone looking overmoshal. Yeah, but that's kind of
how it is sometimes. Well, hey, you stick around, we'll be
right back. We got some greatthings, Like I said, lined up,
I'm going to give you the opportunityto win some things. And we've
got today's Moment of Encouragement with doctorTony Hare coming right up. Thanks for
(02:45):

(03:07):
don't think I was born yet,but it is my favorite movie. A
lot of people would agree with you, and a lot of people know a
lot of details about that. Areyou one of those guys who has like
an inordinate amount of knowledge about it. I mean, I think I could
answer some questions if asked about themovie. Oh cool. Well, you
know yesterday Will Rouser was here andwe played a little stumped the co host

(07:08):

Have a good day, have agreat day, and good Christmas. Okay,
bye bye, good morning, Christianone oh five point seven. Thank
you so much for being here withus today. I'm Dan de Bruler,
I'm Bryce Chiswick and Bryce is ourcommunity code host for today. And you
know, we were talking about celebratingChristmas, you know, the things that
(07:29):
we do, the traditions that wehave, even some of the movies that
we watch and things like that. How do you and your family celebrate Christmas?
Well, I mean we're pretty traditionalin the sense that, like,
you know, we hang up youknow, stuff in the yard or lights,
and we have a Christmas tree,of course, and we do presence.
(07:50):
One of our family traditions is weopen a gift on Christmas Eve.
That's one of the things that weenjoy doing and have said it for our
children as well. Well. Doyou ever find that celebration gets off course
at all? I mean, whatdo you do to keep your children focused
on the Christ of Christmas. Yeah, that's a wonderful question, because we
ingrain that in our children even outsidethe Christmas season, right, even in
(08:13):
preparation for Christmas, we will talkto them about the tree reason why we
celebrate Christmas. Right, So wewere talking off air about whether or not
it's okay to have a Christmas tree. Well, and the Bible tells us
that, you know Christ it ashe is hung on a cross. Well,
it's talking about Jesus and his crucifixionon the cross, right, or
(08:35):
it was referencing a tree, butit is in it's talking about the cross.
So we as a family tell ourchildren, like hey, that Christmas
tree is representative of what Jesus accomplishedon the cross. Right, he became
that curse for us on our behalf, and our faith in him now gets
us in line and back to himto be one day eternally with him.
(09:00):
Ask that because now in this agewhere social media has become the way that
that we wage war almost you knowwith people that we would otherwise love.
You know, we have a tendencyto or there is a tendency for people
to come along behind somebody. Sowell, you know that you've got it
all wrong. You're pointing the wrongdirection when you're celebrating this season or that
(09:20):
holiday or wherever. But you know, I believe that when we focus on
Christ, the Christ of Christmas, when that is the focal point, these
other things are just almost incidental. They become habits or traditions. I don't
think there's any harm done. I'mconfident there's no harm done in many of
(09:41):
the things. And I'm reminded ofthis passage in Romans fourteen. You know,
and he's talking to people who havegood reason to look funny at the
people around them and what they're doingand how they're celebrating things. And it
says beginning in verse five in Romansfourteen, one person judges one day to
be more important than another day.Someone else judges every day to be the
same. Let each one be fullyconvinced in his own mind. Whoever observes
(10:07):
the day observes it for the honorof the Lord. Whoever eats eats for
the Lord, since he gives thanksto God. And whoever does not eat
it is for the Lord that hedoes not eat it, and he gives
thanks to God. He's talking aboutpeople who have set aside certain celebrations in
certain days, and they have certainfoods that you can and cannot eat,
or should and should not eat,And he's trying to say to them,
(10:30):
Look, there is no jew, there is no Greek. There is no
separation in Christ. And that's theending to that sentence. You know,
there is no separation when we're celebratingthe Christ of Christmas. When we're celebrating
Christmas and Christ is the center ofthat. Man, I am so cool
with what I shared off air wasI'm so cool with the world stopping down
(10:52):
for a day or better yet amonth and pointing even inadvertently toward the Christ.
Oh. Absolutely, Yeah. Oneof the things that you mentioned was
like, you know, we dopresence because we were given a gift,
the gift of salvation, right, and that's what we tell our children too.
It's like, you know, like, yeah, these things are nice,
(11:13):
but they pale in comparison to whatthe true gift and meaning is of
Christmas. That God Almighty sent hisson to us, and that he lived
a perfect life, he died ona cross, he rose again, and
now he is our mediator between himand God the Father. And so we
always circle back to like what itis, right, Like, yeah,
(11:33):
this is nice, but hey, like it's a. It's all about Jesus
and if we can. The thingis that we should do everything to the
glory of God, like if Iif it doesn't, if the Holy Spirit
doesn't tell me, like, heydude, this is probably not cool.
You shouldn't do it. Well,if he does tell me that, then
I would be obedient, right becausethat's what I ought to do. But
if he doesn't, then I'm freeto do whatever to the glory of God.
(11:56):
Yeah. Man, And that's that'sit right there. And let's let's
just be mindful of that. Youknow, there are a lot of people
who who will think differently of Christat this time of the year. Use
it to the advantage of the Gospel. Yes, sir, tell people what's
really going on. Tell them whyyou celebrate Christmas? Amen? Good more
(12:18):
than in Christian one oh five pointseven. Thanks for being here. I'm
Dan de Bruler, I'm Bryce Chiswick. I just wanted to share my favorite
Bible verse for this season. Itcomes from the Book of Philippians, Chapter
two, verses five through ten.Have this mind among yourselves, which is
yours in Christ. Jesus, whothough he was in the form of God,
did not count equity of quality withGod, a thing to be grasped,
(12:41):
but emptied himself by taking the formof a servant, being born in
the likeness of men, and beingfound in human form. He humbled himself
by becoming obedient to the point ofdeath, even death on a cross.
Therefore, God has highly exalted himand bestowed on him the name that is
above every name, so that atthe name of Jesus, every knee should
bow in heaven and on earth andunder the earth, and every tongue confess
(13:05):
that Jesus Christ is Lord to theglory of God the Father. You know,
none of us were born Christians. You know, we we I don't
even know if we should even usethat phrase. Not that it matters,
you know, But when we allowChrist to make the transformation in our life,
when we see that we are changing, When when the transformation begins,
(13:26):
because you know, we're not changedin a moment. I mean, we're
changed in a moment, but thechange itself, the transformation, takes place
over time. And when we beginto realize that all of this is true,
and that God is who God sayshe is, and that the Son
of God is who he said heis, you know, we begin to
(13:46):
live life differently, and we havethis different core, this different center in
our life, and everything begins aspiral in a completely different way. Yeah.
No, I absolutely agree. Ilook at my own life and I
can, you know, look backfive ten years and just see like the
person that I was and the personthat God is, you know, shaving
(14:07):
me to be, you know,a husband, a father, and absolutely
a follower of him, and justlike how He's molding me to become the
person and man that he wants meto be. And it's such a beautiful,
wonderful thing, and I'm internally grateful. Yeah. And you know,
we were talking a few moments agoabout Christmas, you know, and about
celebrations and observations and how we doand how we don't as we go about
(14:31):
our everyday life, and you know, it's about not lording those things over
other people, you know, notconsidering ourselves equal with God. We are
in Christ, you know, wewe have an advocate with the Father in
Jesus Christ, but we're not Jesus, right, you know. Yeah,
And you know, one of thethings we talked about a little bit earlier
(14:54):
was how living out that transformation infront of even our children and our spouse.
You know, when we lived thosethings out in our home. This
is where we are building people ofgodly character. You know. It's I
know you're a dad. Yeah, four kids, five KOs for the fifth
I've seen, I've seen. I'veseen the pictures. But it's like,
(15:15):
man, I'm losing track. Butyou know when when when we're a dad
or you're a mom and you're inyour home and you realize you have the
opportunity to influence these children. Youcan make them do what you want them
to do, sure, or youcan teach them to do what God would
have them to do. Yeah. No, it's absolutely. I was telling
(15:37):
Dan that I had an opportunity becauseI failed as a father when disciplining my
children, and you know, theHoly Spirit's like, hey, dude,
that's not cool, you know, like you need to make that right.
And so I just I had toget my kids together and I apologize and
I was like, hey, Iwas an ungodly father and didn't show you
the right way. Please forgive me. And you know, my kids have
(16:00):
seen from what I was and towho the man God is making me.
You know. Yeah, man,And that's so important that we recognize that
we're being transformed, that we livethe transformation out in front of our children.
You know that we let them knowthere is hope even in the worst
situation in the home, there ishope. There's hope for you, my
(16:21):
son. There's hope for you,my daughter. Don't think that this is
where it ends, you know, because we all come across those things in
our life where it just feels likeit'll never get any better. But man,
when we see the transformation in ourown lives, we know that that
is absolutely untrue. A man,we are Christian one O five point seven
