Speaker 1 (00:07):
Hello everyone, and thank you so much for joining me
for Daily Spark with Doctor Angela. I am your host,
Doctor Angela Bytchichester. You guys know who I am, and
you know what I like to do on my show.
Say it with me. I want to enlighten, inspire and
empower you to become your best self. No scripture reminds
us that the tongue is a small thing that makes
(00:29):
grand speeches, but a tiny spark can set a great
forest on a fire. And that's what we want to
do today. We want to get you fired up about
my guest. We'll be spending time today with Alan Thompson
Burlhart the Third and we'll be talking about his book
The Word That Loves You Begin. So you know what
(00:52):
I'm going to tell you to do. Go on, get comfy,
get cozy, get your coffee or get your tea, because
are about to get started. Hello Ellen, Thank you so
much for joining me here today on Daily's Mark with
Doctor Angela.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Well, it's very much of a privilege wild to be
on your show and Doctor Angela, and I really thank
you for letting me come.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
In and talk.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Absolutely. I love spending time with each guest that I
have on and it is a great way to introduce
really good books to the world. So thank you for
spending some time in your schedule with me today. Now,
speaking of introducing you to my part of the listening world,
(01:41):
there may be some folks out there that are unfamiliar
with you and your work. So my first question is
what makes you you? Who are you? Who would you
say that you are?
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
I'm a retired or an orthopedic surgeon who've spent the
majority of my adult life learning about medicine and practicing
orthopedic surgery as a trauma surgeon. I was dedicated to
my work and I was very, very successful in a
lot of things that I did. But I was always
looking for something that was missing in my life, and
(02:15):
it happened to be Jesus Christ.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
I'd gone to.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Church, I'd attended a lot of meetings and heard a
lot of people speak, but I really didn't comprehend exactly
where I was supposed to fit in until.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Really, Ah.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
That is so that is such a common story in
that people are always introduced to faith at a very
young age, but as adults were able to really pick
up on that and to move forward. I love that
and thank you for your time in the medical profession.
My mother is a nurse, so I know that you
(02:54):
guys do great and amazing things. Thank you for your
medical service. Now, being author, is that something that you've
always wanted to do or did you find that this
was one way that you could share your research with
the world.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Well, to give you a little bit of a background,
I also wrote a textbook when I was a physician,
and the title of it was Arthroscopic Laser Surgery. It's
the three hundred page book on laser physics and how
it's applied to orthopedic surgery through arthroscopy. So that was
(03:30):
a little bit of a taxing thing for me. It
took me literally two years to write that, and I
had a lot of cobo other writers that had joined
in and helped me out a little bit.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
So that made me.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Appreciate how difficult it could be to be an author
on a difficult subject. And when it came to spirituality,
writing a book about ministry or spirituality, my mind was
already fixated on not being concerned about how to write,
(04:06):
but on obtaining the right information to put in the book.
So this was this book that I've written as a
smaller book, but it's much more meaningful and it's a
lot more important. And to be honest with you, the
Holy Spirit didn't have me write the arthroscopic Laser Surgery book,
(04:28):
but it had me write this week.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
So I love that. Now, the title of the book,
the Word that Loves You begn I like that title.
How did it come about? Did it develop out of
your writings? Did it come to you first and you
were able to write around it? What's the story there?
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Well, everybody knows that the Bible has also been called
the Living Word. It's a Christian and everybody is a
Christian knows that Jesus Christ been called the living Word.
And we also know from the Bible that in the
beginning there was the was God, and there was the Word,
(05:08):
and the Word was with God, and.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
The Word was God.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
So in a sense, the Living Word is something that
it really still lives in a textbook form, but it's
in essence, it's it's a it's a dynamic, moving, caring,
loving part of God's plan for us, to us to
(05:35):
follow him, to lead us into showing showing others how
to be Christians too.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Now, would you say that your book is appropriate for
our younger readers. For someone as young as high school
fourteen fifteen, sixteen years old, let's say, or is it
college age or a little bit older, do they need
to have more life experience to be able to follow along. No.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
I wanted to emphasize what the Bible said and make
it as simple as possible. And I would consider it
almost on a newspaper reading level, and that's usually considered
a sixth grade reading level.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
So I would say anybody that's.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
A teenager could definitely read this book and understand it
and get something out of it, because it's based off
of the esb Bible verses that brought me to Christ.
And I think if you take those verses and just
literally let the people read them, they understand them. And
(06:42):
if you just tell somebody here read the Bible, and
they don't always understand the Bible.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
So I think if you what I try to do
is simplify it for everybody.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
So any beginner that can read well, I think it
could conjoy this book. And it's also good for mature
Christians because it allows them to review their thoughts and
the meaning of the word to them. And I don't
(07:11):
think it's only for one group one age group, so
to speak, certainly not for young children. I don't think
it would be there. That's one thing I'm eliminate that.
I would eliminate that.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Now.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
I believe that authors have a way of presenting the
information in their books in the way in which we
should consume it. Chapter one before chapter two. However, we
do know that there are people in the world who say,
I'm a Roulette reader. I opened the book and start
(07:44):
wherever my finger dictates, or I start at the back
of the book and see if the last page is
intriguing enough for me to actually start the journey of
this book. With that being said, is it reader's choice
with your well or should they start with page first
through the last?
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Well? It makes.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Sense, and the order that it's in first first chapter
talks about the fall, about why we are sinners and
why we need God. Is the second chapter it's called forgiveness,
that's why we need Jesus Christ, and.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
It progresses in a way.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
But it's also written as if you could take one chapter,
for instance, the last chapter frequent Prayer, you could take
that and just read that and learn something that would
would apply as a basic pillar in Christianity. You can
learn something about prayer, or you could take finding Others
for Salvation and read that individually, because there's commentary on
(08:46):
that and there are questions on that. You could use
it for a Bible study, so you can. I don't
know about the Roulette thing. I don't think it's really
that way. I think it's it's just meant you could
read the whole thing or listen to it on an
audiobook in a couple hours. It's not that hard to read.
And so even if just read one one of the chapters,
(09:09):
you learn something, so they could start anywhere if they
haven't having a problem with, for instance, understanding the Holy Spirit.
Well the book, the chapter on the Fruits of the
Holy Spirit is is very appropriate to read because it
talks about the Holy Spirit. So if they're having as
an adult or advanced Christian, they might want to learn
(09:32):
a little bit more about how to find others for salvation,
and that chapter could be read by itself.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Each one of these could be, you know, a lesson,
so to speak.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
It sounds like if someone does not wish to read
it straight through, that they could do more of a
devotional maybe style, and say today I'm feeling forgiveness and
read that chapter. Today, I'm feeling fate and read that chapter.
I love that. So if they are a color outside
of the Lions type of person, they can still have
(10:05):
a little bit of their reader's choice but still make
it make sense. I love it. I love it. Now
it is time for us to take a very short break,
but when we get back, we are definitely going to
continue this conversation about such an interesting book. Now we
know that it is available on Amazon and wherever books
are sold. But if someone wants to reach out to you,
(10:28):
what is your website. What's the best way for them
to get to you.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Well, just take the title of the book. The title
of the book is The Word that Loves You.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
No spaces dot com.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Alrighty, everyone, now you know where you can get a
copy of the book. We'll be back right after this.
And we are back. Thank you so much for joining
me for Daily's Spark with Doctor Angela. I'm your host
(11:01):
Doctor Angela Bytchester. Today I am spending some time with
Alan Thompson Bill Hart the third and we're talking about
his book, The Word that Loves You. Begin now, Allan,
I love that you have written your book in a
way that it speaks to more instead of less of
(11:23):
the population. Be it that you are you mentioned it
earlier that you are a seasoned Christian or you are
new to the faith. There is something within the pages
for everyone. Now I like to give my little disclaimer here,
and my listeners know what I'm going to say. If
you want to know how the story ends, you gotta
(11:44):
buy the book.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Now.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
With that being said, you do have some very interesting
chapters here available. The first one, I believe is The Fall.
Why was it important to include that chapter in this book?
Speaker 2 (12:03):
The answer to that question is very important to me.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
I think that many people understand that.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
God is as present and God does exist in some
form of fashion, even though there's some people that don't
believe that. But I think only the most important things
we have to learn is why are we separated from God?
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Why is God?
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Why are people involved in things that really God doesn't
want us to do. And to really understand why we
need God, I think we have to understand what happened
in the Garden of Eden, and that was that we
were separated from God because of the original sin. And
the original sin involved Adam and Eve eating from the
(12:53):
fruit of a tree of life that they were not
supposed to eat from because God told them not to.
That was a very bad thing and relative to what happened,
because even though it sounds like it wasn't bad, it was.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
It was against God's will.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
And so we have to understand what's separating us from God.
So God took us out of the garden of Eden
because of that. He took mankind, human kind I'm talking
about Adam and even start with out of the garden
of Eden because of that. And why why are we
having so much problem, so many problems? It's because when
the devil tempted Eve and also Adam, he brought into
(13:37):
their minds the concept of an evil nature, a sinful nature,
and he wanted he wanted it to be worshiped himself.
Lucifer wanted to be God himself. He was a type
of egotistical person, very prideful person that our angel I mean,
(14:03):
and he wanted to be He wanted to be God,
I mean, he he just couldn't couldn't take the fact
that he so he wanted to say to these people,
they don't need God, they need him. And his ways
were all evil, incorrect and sinful. And because God was
concerned that now that Adam and Eve knew evil as
(14:24):
well as good, that they weren't going to be able
to live eternally with him, because he had to throw
the devil out of heaven because he became evil, and
he certainly wasn't going to have a bunch of people,
human beings that he created in his own image around
him forever.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
If they were going to be part of evil and
part good. He wanted them to be.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Like more like Jesus, more like perfect, more like God,
without a sinful nature. So that's really what we have
to we have in our world. We have a lot
of people walking around try to be their own leader,
their own God, so to speak, and they really, they
really don't understand that that's not what's going to work
(15:14):
out in the long run. So it's important to know
why they fell out of the Garden of Eden when
God took them out, and how they inherited the sinful nature,
and that sinful nature has been passed on to everybody. Everybody,
everybody in humankind has a sinful nature. And we have
the right to choose between a perfect being, which is
(15:36):
Jesus Christ as our savior, or to live in the
dark parts of the world and with Satan and be evil.
So because of our own will, we can choose which
way we want to go. But that's that's a real
foundation of why we need Jesus Christ. We need somebody
(15:57):
to reconcile us and do away with our sins so
that we could be closer to God again and go
back home to the garden of the sins, which is
really Heaven.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
Now, another chapter that caught my eye is Fruit of
the Spirit. Now, of course those who grew up in
the church are familiar and have been taught them, but
I think it's nice to do a little refresher if
we will. Can you remind us of why it is
important for us to be aware of the fruits of
(16:33):
the Spirit and why you included them in your book.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Well, the Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity. The
Trinity is of course God, the Spirit, and the Son
Jesus Christ. So the Holy Spirit is given to all
Christians once they are they've asked Jesus to forgive them
(17:02):
the sins, and they're baptized in name of the Father,
the Son of the Holy Ghost. In that situation, the
Holy Spirit is put in the heart of the human
being and at the so called Christian to give to
teach us the living Word, to make sure that we
(17:23):
walk in the ways of Christ and the Holy Spirit
and of God and not in the ways of darkness,
and to avoid that. So the Holy Spirit is very
important to teaching us. In fact, he's been considered the
author of the Bible of the Holy Spirit. But he
lives in our heart as a Christian. But he teaches
us every day how to avoid the devil and how
(17:44):
to avoid his treacherous ways, and how to as the
Gospel says, you know, the good news is if we
believe in Jesus Christ, then we ask him to forgive us,
then we can have eternal life and heaven, return to
the so called guard of eating in heaven, and be
there forever. But if if we don't, the devil is
(18:05):
gonna take us away. But one of the ways that
God can recognize that we are following his ways, his
Son's ways, and living his ways is to exhibit what
they're called are called the fruit of the spirit. The
most important fruit of the spirit is just as a
characteristic it's called or it's a word, but it's really
(18:27):
something everybody understands.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
It's love. Love is the most important part.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
So if you're a Christian and you don't have any
love in you, it's going to be very difficult for
you to say that you're a Christian. That's one of
the fruits of the spirit. Goodness is good as one
of them, you know, Kindness is one of them. Peace, peace, peacefulness, faithfulness,
they're nine all together. And they if you, if you
(18:55):
are following the ways of the Holy Christ and me
in Christ, you will show and to others these characteristics.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
So if you want to identify.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Like as they say that the fruit of the tree
identifies the tree a lot of times, if you want
to follow Christianity, you need to be around people that
are to have the fruit of the Holy Spirit. I
don't know if that makes a lot of sense, but
that's the way God can tell that the person is
on the right track, and we can too.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
As the song reminds us. And I know so many
have learned this in Sunday School or from vacation Bible School.
They will know that we are Christians by our love
and that is just so important that we are displaying
that christ like love. Well, let me ask you this,
(19:55):
did you find that while you were doing your research
for this book, can in writers mode? Did you find
that your medical training and education helped you along the
way in any way, did like your brain kick back
into university days and say, Okay, we need this, we
(20:18):
needed that, and this must therefore be this. Did you
find that that helped you in the writing of this book?
Speaker 3 (20:29):
Well, as anybody that's lived a fairly long time would.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Tell you, they've probably witnessed something that they would probably
call a miracle in their life. And one of the
most common miracles I hear people talk about is the
birth of their first child or the birth of their children,
and they consider that a miracle. And yet Jesus is
you know, the Parables and one of the stories that
(20:57):
are told about Jesus and all of the things that
he did when he when he was healing people who
were sick and all that type of thing. There are
many types of miracles, but most of them are really
medical miracles that we that we see in the Bible.
Raising people from the dead, lassers, you know people, uh,
you know the Mary and Martha's story.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
The people that are being you know, they can't they
can't see.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
And he tells him simply put he puts the bottom
and rites and tells him to go washing washing in
the pool, and then they can see, you know, I
was blind that I can see most of those types
of the lepers cured and that type of thing. Those
type of miracles are mostly medical miracles, and Jesus has
been called a great physician, so there is a lot
(21:45):
of affinity to mercy and and miracles, medical miracles. And
I'm I'm a I'm an example of a medical miracle.
I'm a one percenter. I'm a uh age four one
of the most vicious forms of fan survivor for over seven.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Years due to prayers to the.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
God and those who things, so that I know, I
believe in miracles, and I know that they don't come
from the doctor, they come from above. So I've been
through I've been through that, So yes, it does have
some connection at that, but I don't want to go
too far into what I'm trying to say.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Thank you understand.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
I definitely, I definitely do. My listeners know that I
have mentioned that I am a breast cancer survivor numerous times,
so I think anyone that has been healed of any
very serious illness kind of agrees with you. I am
grateful for my medical team that helped to get me
(22:53):
where I am today. However, like you said, it is
my faith. It is the prayers of the righteous that
have really helped to make the difference. Because we have
an awesome God, so everything fell into place according to
his will. So I love that. I love that.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
No, speaking of right, that's yeah, talking about that's right,
exactly right.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Prayer is so important. But go ahead, a.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Sorry, speaking of prayers, that is something that you also
discuss in your book. Why was it important to include that.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Well, just like the Holy Spirit is put in our
heart and helps us through life, people must understand that
the Holy Spirit leads us in prayer. If we don't
know what to pray for or how to pray, the
Holy Spirit will pray for us.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
He knows everything. He's just like God.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
He's all powerful, he's he's part of the Trinity, he's
part of God, and he'll pray for us. And if
you don't. People don't really look at it this way.
I don't hear it talked about that much. But Jesus
was very reliant on the Holy Spirit while he was
on earth, and the most powerful thing that the Holy
(24:10):
Spirit does for us, as teaches us and leads us
in prayer, so we can communicate with God. And God
loves our keeps our prayers in heavens. I mean they're
supposed to, supposed to be believed, the prayers being kept
in heaven, and.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
That prayer.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Leads us to direct communication through the Holy Spirit with
God himself. And that's what Jesus did. He prayed whenever,
very very frequently he prayed, and without without the Holy
Spirit helping him, and without prayer he was he would
have been alone by himself.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
He wouldn't have been able to compute, make communicate with God.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
It's very difficult for people to go through life and
not have somebody to help them in the way that
they should to a sh sure of them an eternal
life without prayer, without the Holy Spirit, without the Jesus Christ,
and without communication with God. So you can pray for yourself,
you can pray for others. You can pray for you
(25:14):
can glorify God in prayer, you can pray for the nation.
You can pray for so many things. And as long
as as long as that is in the will of God,
those prayers will be answered. And I think prayer is
so powerful.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
It helped me.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Fifteen thousand people were praying for me to make it
through these last seven years, and I think some of
them are still praying for me. And I'm sure you've
had so many people pray for you, just like you said. So,
prayer is if you don't take advantage of your consultants.
This is the most intelligent, powerful consultant that you could
(25:54):
you could go you could go to for any problem
for free. And people don't even pray sometimes to make
big decisions in their life, like who they marry or whatever.
You understand. So if you don't use prayer, you're you're
not in touch, you're not communicating. And that's what Jesus.
(26:16):
That's what Jesus did all the time. And why shouldn't
we be more like him? If we pray, our prayers
will be answered if God, if God is in the
God's interest. So I think we are just really missing
half our life in a sense on this earth by
just being distant from God and not praying. It's so important.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
You are so right there. We must include prayer communication
with God every day if you want to really and
truly live our most fulfilling life. I love it, but
doctor Allen Thompson, Bill harted there, thank you so much
for spending some time with me here on Daily's Park
with doctor Hangela. I've enjoyed my conversation with you well.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Thank you for having me and it's been a very
great privilege of mine. And I know you're a great
Christian and God bless you, and thank you for helping
me through this interview.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
Absolutely absolutely, we are all doing our part to be
kingdom builders. I love it. And listeners, thank you for
spending some time with us here today as well. You
could have been anywhere, but you chose to spend it
with me, and I thank you for doing so. I
hope that we have enlightened, inspired and empowered you again
today as always. May the Lord continue to shine his
(27:35):
face upon you. May you receive his grace and his
mercy in all that you do. Until next time, everyone
remember that you you are blessed in the Lord. Have
a great day everyone, good bye,
