I hope your week is going well and that you,
your family of friends, everyone in your world is staying

strong and healthy right now. And I sincerely hope that
you watched that Canelo versus Crawford fight this past Saturday night,
because if you did, Hey, you actually saw some sports history.
Terrence Crawford moved up two weight divisions to challenge Canelo Alvarez,
(00:48):
and he scored the biggest win of his career, a
unanimous decision victory to win the undisputed super middleweight championship
on Saturday night at Allegiance Stadium in Las Vegas. Hey,
that was Jordan putting up sixty three in the garden.
That was Joe Montana in the two minute drill. That
was Tiger at Augusta. That was Gretzky leading a rush

with open ice ahead of him. I'm not saying Crawford
is the goat, but Crawford is now in the conversation. Hey,
I told you last week. I fully expected Crawford to
outbox Canelo because Crawford is a slick fighter. That didn't
surprise me. It didn't even surprise me that Crawford was
such a good counterpuncher all night. Again. Crawford is a
(01:36):
slick fighter. He's a gym rat. What I didn't expect
was for Crawford to outpower Canelo. I thought Canelo would
be stronger than Crawford, land a few body blows, maybe
hurt him at least a little, and narrowly win the
fight because he was a champ. He got to beat
the champ, right. That's not what happened. And I started
(01:59):
to get concern just seeing Terence Crawford walking into the
stadium because it looked like he was carrying that extra
weight really naturally. And one thing to remember, Crawford is
thirty seven years old. There's been a lot of talk, well,
Canelo is older, Canelo is a little past his prime.
Canel is only thirty five, Crawford is two years older. Okay,

so the fight starts, they feel each other out. I
had Crawford winning the first few rounds. I thought Canelo
maybe won the fifth round, and what I saw on
the fifth round is what I believe changed the fight,
because in that fifth round, I thought Canelo actually connected
with Crawford and actually got a piece of him and
(02:44):
hit him pretty hard, and you saw Crawford kind of
smile back at him, and I went, uh oh, because
then Crawford came out in the sixth round way more aggressive,
and I think we started to really hate Canel's power
didn't hurt him, and Canelo may have realized then too, Yeah,

this isn't going as expected, because then we saw Crawford
hit Canelo a few times, and I think Canelo realized
he didn't have the power advantage that we all thought
he would now. I scored the fight one eighteen to
one ten in favor of Crawford. The judges scored at
one sixteen, one twelve, and then two of them had
at one fifteen, one thirteen, again as usual. I have

no idea what fight the judges were watching, but knowing boxing,
I was actually just amazed they didn't give Kanelo the win,
even though he had been thoroughly dominated all night. Hey,
we've seen it before from that filthy sport. But here's
hoping that we start seeing some more entertaining, big name
fights like this one in the future, because that was
(03:52):
a really fun night. And I know there's talk of
a rematch. I'll be honest, I don't know if I
want to see a rematch. I didn't see anything that
gave me hope Canelo could win because Crawford was just
better in all phases all night. Hey, todam it does
another week down in the NFL and college football. Today,
going to take a look at a few winners and

losers from that week in football. Man, you might have
heard me just say that this win actually put Terrence
Crawford into some pretty elite company. Our daily dose Top
five will take a closer look at exactly that. But first,
a couple of news stories I do want to touch on,
and one is in the world of the NCUBLEA. Did
you hear that thirteen men's college basketball players from six

different schools were involved in gambling schemes, including betting against
their own team, game manipulation, and sharing information with third
parties for gambling purposes. The NCUBA announced that last week,
yeah players associated with Eastern Michigan Temple, Arizona State, New Orleans,
(04:59):
North Carolin Line of A and T, and Mississippi Valley
State are under investigation for gambling violations. That is, according
to the NCAA, none of the players, though they say,
are currently enrolled at the schools where those infractions occurred. Now,
I have a couple of observations on this one. I
am noticing that this is basically all irrelevant players on
(05:23):
basically all irrelevant teams in the grand scheme of things. Now,
maybe that's just a wacky coincidence, but I'm not sure
I believe that. I actually believe that is almost by design.
Hey hit the irrelevant guys at the irrelevant programs, and
let that be a warning to the relevant players at
(05:44):
the blue blood programs that they could get themselves in
trouble if they aren't careful. And Secondly, I strongly doubt
we're really going to hear that much of any true
punishment that's handed down for any of these infractions. All
these guys are going to get a certain talking to,
But I really believe this is just posturing, and I'm
not sure it's really gonna serve as enough of a
(06:06):
deterrent because we're not gonna hear about any punishments. We're
not gonna hear about jail time. None of those things
are gonna happen. It's going to keep happening. It's probably
going to get worse. And one final story that at
least I found interesting because it seems that the Baltimore
Ravens had planned to draft University of Colorado quarterbacks should
(06:27):
Dour Sanders. They claimed they were gonna take him in
the fifth round of this past twenty twenty five NFL Draft,
But before the Ravens could turn in the card, the
former Colorado buff star let it be known to the
Ravens he didn't want to be on that roster. He
didn't want to be on a roster with Lamar Jackson
because he wouldn't have a chance to play anytime soon.
(06:49):
You see, Sanders knows that Jackson is a two time MVP,
he's one of the top players in the league. He's
not gonna lose his job in Baltimore anytime soon. So
he conveyed the message to Baltimore that he didn't want
to be drafted by them and that he preferred to
end up in another place where he might have a
chance to play sooner. So the Ravens instead drafted an
(07:09):
offensive lineman no one's ever heard of, and Sanders fell
to the Cleveland Browns. So he didn't want to be
behind Lamar Jackson. But currently he's listed third on the
Browns depth chart, behind Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Dylan Gabriel.
But when you stop and think about the whole situation,
(07:31):
Sanders called the Ravens a team with an incredible quarterback
to learn from and a team that is always in
contention for a Super Bowl that he didn't want to
go there because he would struggle to get playing time.
I mean, forget the player development in a franchise with
a history of winning, Forget that the head coach is
(07:53):
among the best. Never mind the role model that Lamar
Jackson would provide, or the weapons on both sides of
the ball that say would inherit if God forbid, something
happened to Jackson and shouldor found himself on the field.
This was about shad Door Sanders. He wanted the spotlight.
He wanted the chance at playing time, even if it
(08:13):
was for a notoriously garbage heap of a franchise. I
know it got thrown around a lot. Why should or
Sanders fell? But this says a lot about Sanders and
about the people that he has around him. It's no
wonder hefel you chose to back up Joe Flacco and
Dylan Gabriel with a terrible team over backing up Lamar
(08:35):
and a contender. Again, your level of entitlement just doesn't
really match your level of talent. So Week two of
the NFL is now complete, and as usual, we've got
a few winners and we've got a few losers from
the week. Let's take a look at a few of each.
I'm gonna give our first winner to a team that,
at least right now, might look like the best team
(08:58):
in the league. It's early. I'm not fully in on
this quite yet, but the offense is putting up big numbers,
and now with the addition of Micah Parsons, the Green
Bay Packers just might be a Super Bowl contender if
they can keep this all together. Hey, they run the
ball effectively with running back Josh Jacobs, and I haven't
witnessed it personally just yet, but quarterback Jordan Love is
(09:21):
apparently putting up some big numbers when he plays. And
again now with Michaeh Parsons that Packers defense, they might
be one of the top units in the league. Here
are some more good news the Packers' next five or
six games. Yet they're highly winnable. Hey, don't be surprised
(09:42):
if Green Bay is undefeated. When they face the Eagles
in November, they probably will be undefeated. That is going
to be a heavyweight fight. But I will give our
first loser to the Cincinnati Bengals, of course, who every
single year we discussed it here on the Dose, how
they just keep trying to get core Joe Burrow killed,
and it looks like they've kind of accomplished that this
(10:04):
year because Burrow is now out indefinitely with turf toe,
which I know that sounds minor, it's not. It's basically
torn tendons in your toe. You can't walk, you can't
play with it. And hey, on Sunday, the Bengals managed
to beat the Jaguars. They are not to and o,
which sounds great until you remember they've beaten the Browns
(10:28):
and the Jaguars. Next up for Cincinnati Vikings, Broncos, Lions, Packers.
Good luck. It's almost like the Bengals should have spent
some money on their offensive line. They just never do that.
And before you want to tell me about Browning stepping
in and he's gonna be fine, just remember last year
(10:50):
Joe Burrow was throwing for four hundred yards and they
were still losing. Are you gonna tell me Brownie's gonna
throw for more than four hundred yards? Because I don't
believe that. I'm gonna give a winner, and I'm gonna
give it to a guy that has at least looked
really good through two weeks of the season, and that
is Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones. Hey, through these first
two games, Jones has now thrown for almost six hundred
(11:12):
yards and the Colts are two and oh they lit
up the Denver Broncos defense on Sunday. Hey, the Colts
might win that AFC South at this rate. I'm not
sold on their defense quite yet. They need to get healthy.
They got a lot of guys out the Daniel Jones
is playing really well so far, but I will give
out another loser. And I know, I know this is
(11:33):
only temporary, but I do not like what I am
saying from the Kansas City Chiefs I know they don't
have her sheet Rice, I know Xavier Worthy is out,
but it's not the passing game I'm worried about. Through
two games, Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the chief leading rusher.
The Chiefs have zero run game, no wide receivers. Oh
(11:54):
and by the way, no pass rush because past rusher
Chris Jones he doesn't look like he used to. You know,
I've been saying it the past few weeks, but teams
are no longer afraid of the Chiefs like they used
to be. Yes, I know they'll get better. I expect
them to rally, I expect them to improve, but the
Chiefs aren't quite the same. They just aren't. I will
(12:17):
give one final winner in the NFL this week, and
I Am going to just give it to NFL offenses
in general. You know, many times as the season starts,
we see defenses kind of hitting the ground running and
then offenses take a little while to gel and kind
of get up to speed. That hasn't been the case
so far this season. NFL teams are scoring some serious
(12:40):
points right now. Teams are averaging over twenty three points
per game, which is the highest average we have seen
since twenty twenty. This past weekend, we saw more than
fifteen NFL teams score at least twenty five points. Hey,
the NFL has tilted the game in favor of the offenses,
(13:01):
and it shows no question about that, which brings us
to our final NFL loser. And that is, unfortunately the
NFL officials. And again it's not fully their fault because
the league asks them to see way too much. But man,
we are seeing some really bad officiating. And yes, I
am bitter about the nonsensical flag against my Broncos that
(13:24):
hurt them so much. I'm not gonna say it cost
them the game, because they hurt themselves enough to cost
them the game. But it wasn't just that. What in
the world are refs looking at In that Chiefs Eagles game.
We're seeing defensive players be flagged constantly for little tiki
tac fouls, But on every play, just about I see
an offensive tackle stand up before the ball is snap.

We're seeing guys jump across the line early. I don't
understand it. Are they just ignoring it because it's happening
so much that I have to think it's not an accident. Hey,
the NFL officiating is clearly not in regular season mo
just yet, but it needs to hurry up and catch
up because it has been bad. But now let's move
over to college football, which is almost now one month
(14:08):
into the season, and yes, we are starting to learn
some things fast over there. Let's take a look at
some winners and lose those in college football as well.
I'm going to give our very first winner and I'm
going to give it out in college football to comedian
Bo Vaughn. Also, I'm drinking like Monster energy drinks sometimes,
which are delicious, but they make you want to pay
think you want to beat your wife. Du dude, I've

seen a lot of dudes drinking Monster that you know
they're going home to punch. Why in the world would
I do that? Because it seems that Vanderbilt quarterback Diego
Pavia told the Vonne that if his Vanderbilt Commodorees went
into Colombia, the home of the number eleven South Carolina
game Cocks, and won the game, that von could go
(14:51):
out with his nugget of a hot mom. Well. Pavia
threw for one hundred and seventy seven yards and two touchdowns,
and Vandy smoked the game Cocks thirty one to seven.
It was quietly one of the biggest upsets of the season,
and it is a comedian that will be reaping the
benefits of it. Hey, it's kind of weird to say,

but this might be the best Vanderbilt team in history.
I will give out our first loser, though, and that
is to UCLA quarterback Nico ima Lava. You remember im Lava, right,
He was at Tennessee, but he wanted Tennessee to give
him more money and they said they wouldn't. So he
went to UCLA and they ended up actually well actually
(15:34):
saying they'd give him more money, but then they gave
him less money than what Tennessee was going to give him.
So he was going to go back to Tennessee, but
then Tennessee didn't mind him back, so now he's at UCLA. Well,
this past weekend, the Tennessee Volunteers were hosting Georgia. They
were the host of College Football Game Day on ESPN.
The game went to overtime. It was big time college
(15:54):
football and New Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar he's actually really good.
He threw for three hundred and seventy one yards. He
had four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Nico is playing at UCLA in
front of one hundred and seventy five people in the stands,
and UCLA is getting smoked by New Mexico thirty five
to ten. And UCLA just fired their head coachter Sean Foster.

So I mean, good luck, kid, you got greedy, and honestly,
this has been painful to watch. Whoever is giving that
kid advice you failed and as a result, he's a loser.
But I'm gonna give a winner, and I'm going to
give it to a conference, and that is the Southeastern Conference. Now.
I know, going into the season we were saying how

there might not really be an elite team in the country,
and based on what I've seen so far, I still
stand by that. But the SEC is as strong as
it has ever been, top to bottom. Do you realize
there are right now twelve SEC teams ranked in the
top twenty five. Almost half of the top twenty five
(16:57):
is in the SEC. Might sound crazy, but the SEC
could get four, maybe even five teams into the College
Football Playoff at this rate. Will any of them win it,
I'm not sure. But if four or five get in,
oh they're taking a big chunk of that playoff money.
Because that is a big chunk for each one of
(17:19):
those teams that makes it. I'm going to give you
another loser, and that is to Tennessee placekicker Max Gilbert,
who missed a forty three yard field goal at the
end of regulation that would have given the Volunteers a
win over number six Georgia, but instead he missed and
Georgia went on to win in overtime. In fact, Max,
(17:39):
you know what, No hold on a second, I'm not
giving a loser to a kicker. I always say it,
and I'm gonna say it again. Kickers and punters are
not football players. Unless you're going out and making tackles
or blocking, you're not a football player. Hey, if you'll
let it come down to a kicker or all bets

are off, take care of business and quit blaming those

that much hope for, but the USC Trojans. They might
be a little sneakier than expected. Now the Trojans are three.
Oh I know, they haven't beaten anyone. You don't even
have to look, but they are beating who they play
quite easily, and they are showing some signs they might

end up being a little bit dangerous. Head coach Lincoln Riley,
he's kind of got this offense figured out and it's
up to par and we're gonna find out real soon
what USC is made of. Because they play Michigan State
this week. That'll be easy. But then check out those
slate of games. USC has Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Nebraska,

So we're gonna find out real quick if USC is real.
But they look good so far. Speaking of Notre Dame,
I have to give him a loser because the Fighting
Irish are now zero to two and it's by a
combined four points. After losing that heartbreaker in Week one
to Miami twenty seven to twenty four, the Irish lost
again on Saturday to Texas A and M by a
(19:51):
single point, and that loss could cost them a college
football playoff birth because remember, Notre Dame doesn't have a
conference championship to lift their strength of schedule. Notre Dame
is going to have to be perfect rest of the way,
and they might even need a little help. But they've
had a hard time trying to figure things out against

top competition in those first two weeks. First week, I
didn't think they gave the ball to Jeremiah Love nearly enough.
Second week they gave it to him enough. But A
and M's offense is a problem. They couldn't stop them.
Notre Dame's in a little bit of trouble. Now They've
got to play really well the rest of the way.
We'll give out our final college football winner this week
to a team that is outperforming well at least my expectations,
(20:34):
and that is the Miami Hurricanes. Because all the Miami
Hurricanes have done so far is beat two top twenty
five teams. First they beat number six Notre Dame. Then
they beat number eighteen South Florida, and I fully expect
them to beat Florida this week. Florida's billion aper. His
seat is red hot right now. He can't even sit down.
But you know, I picked Miami to be a playoff team,
(20:57):
but I thought they might maybe slip once in games.
Right now, they're looking strong, and honestly, you could make
a case Miami should probably be in the top five
based on what they've done on the field. They are
definitely a winner, and our final loser can go nowhere else.
It simply must go to Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo
(21:17):
Swinney because the Tigers dropped another game on Saturday, and
this time it was to unrank Georgia Tech. So Clemson
is not one two and remember they had to come
back against Troy to get the one. Clemson quarterback k
Klubnick was expected to be a Heisman candidate. Right now,
(21:38):
he has just three touchdowns and three interceptions. But Clemson's
offense has no playmakers. They're averaging just nineteen points per game.
And don't forget they still have SMU, Florida State, and
South Carolina on that schedule. Now, don't get me wrong,
if they could figure things out, they could still back
(21:59):
the way into the playoff. Hey, just get to the
ACC title game like last year and maybe you could
get in. But right now this doesn't even look fixable
because the Clemson Tigers are just not very good now.
As we do so many weeks here through Dela Dos,
we need to get to our dayly dose Top five.

Like I said at the top of the show, on
Saturday night, Terrence Crawford made some history and placed himself
among the greatest boxers in history. And that might sound
like hyperbole, it isn't, because when Crawford beat Canelo Alvarez
on Saturday, he won his fifth division title. Crawford has
not won titles at lightweight, light welterweight, welterweight, light middleweight,
(22:47):
and on Saturday night he won super middlewaight. But do
you realize that places him on a very shortlist of
fighters with the most division titles. Today, our dealy Dose
Top five is counting down the fighters with the most
titles in history, and you're going to see Crawford does
indeed belong in the conversation among the all time greats.
(23:11):
So let's start off at number five. Wow, and we
actually have kind of a three way tie for number five,
and now with Crawford, this is a four way tie.
But we'll start at number five and we're going to
give this to Thomas the Hitman Hearns, who finished his
career sixty one, five and one. But the star from
Detroit got the first of these five championships back in
(23:32):
nineteen eighty with the TKO finished up a Pinocuavis that
gave him the welterweight title. Two years after that, he
won the super welterweight title against Wilfred Benitez. I was
number two. Hearns defended that title on a few occasions.
Then he moved up to middleweight, super middleweight and light
heavyweight and he found more success. He kept winning and
(23:55):
he put his name in the boxing record books with
five titles he helped throughout his career. But you know,
Thomas Hearns made no physical sense because if you ever
saw him fight, he was tall and skinny, he had
that seventy eight inch reach. Oh so he just stood
outside and beat with the job no, because he had
sledgehammers for hands. Go back and watch him knock Roberto
(24:18):
Duran unconscious. Tommy Hearns was such a dangerous fighter, and
his first round against Marvin Hagler is still the greatest
round of boxing I've ever witnessed in my life. Tommy
Hearns won five different division titles and he comes in
today on our list tied at number five, although I
guess he's actually kind of tied for third. Whatever, Tommy
(24:40):
Hearns is five. Also tied with Hearns at number four
is a guy who fought Tommy twice and did pretty
well against him. Because Sugar Ray Leonard went thirty six,
three and one in his career and he was the
second five division champion now. Sugar Ray won titles from
welterweight to lightheav in nine years from seventy nine to
(25:02):
eighty eight. First, he got a late stoppage against Wilford
Benitez to pick up his very first world championship. He
defended that twice. He went to super welterweight and he
won that in a ninth round stoppage. Leonard's third title
came in eighty seven when he squeaked out a close
split decision over Marvin Hagler that I don't know if
he actually won, and he won the super middleweight and
(25:24):
light heavyweight title as well. Sugar Ray Leonard won five
different titles in five different divisions owned by the Way.
Leonard fought Tommy Hearns in eighty one. He won a
fourteenth round TKO, which is kind of jacked up because
Hearns was actually head on all cards, but Ray heard
him and got him in trouble and now to stop
the fight. The two fight again to a draw in
(25:46):
eighty nine, but both of them were way past their prime.
But Ray Leonard comes in today at number four. At
number three, we have the last fighter that is now
tied with Crawford, Hearns and Leonard, and that is undefeated
superstar Floyd may Weather Junior, who of course retired at
fifty and zher and is considered one of the best
boxes of all time. Of course, Floyd was raised in
(26:08):
the gym. He started his boxing championship run in the
super featherweight class and beat Gennaro Hernandez back in ninety eight.
Mayweather dominated that division for a number of years, and
then he jumped up to higher divisions. He beat Jasei
Castillo back in two thousand and two got the lightweight belt,
then he added the junior welterweight belt after beating Arturo
Gotti in the sixth round, and then he got a
(26:30):
win over Zab Judah and Oscar dal la Joya in
two thousand and six. In two thousand and seven and
became a five division world champion by taking the welterweight
title and super welterweight titles. Hey, there's no question Floyd
is one of the best ever. My only issue I
have with Floyd was that he rarely ever fought great
fighters when they were in their prime. Really smart business
(26:53):
for Floyd, but really bad for boxing. So I probably
hold a grudge for that, but you can't question his greatness.
Floyd Bayweather comes in at number three. Okay, so we've
had three guys, and if you add Crawford, four guys
that have tied with five division titles. At number two,
we have a guy that actually has six. Might surprise
(27:13):
you a little bit, but do not forget the Oscar
de la Joya, who went thirty nine and six. Was
the record holder for most titles in different weight classes
for a number of years, but Dale Joya began to
collect belts in the lower weight classes. First was at
super featherweight. In that same year he beat Jorge Piez
and claimed the whiteweight title. His third belt came at
(27:36):
the expense of Julio Caesar Chavez, where he beat the
Mexican fighter and won the light welterweight title. Well, then
he fought Parnell Whittaker, and that was quite a test actually,
Whitaker gave him all he wanted, but Oscar came out
on top and took the welterweight title. And then he
moved up one more weight class and challenged Javier Castelejo
in June of two thousand and one and won the

light middleweight belt. Three years later, he set the record
when he got his sixth division title by beating Felix
Sterm to earn the middleweight title. Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, and
Mayweber all tied at number five. Now, hey, I wasn't
surprised by any of them, but you kind of forget

about Oscar de la Joya, but he had six titles.
He comes in today at number two. So he reached
the fighter that has held more division titles than anyone
in history, and we've got a clear cut winner because
Filipino sports icon Manny Pacquiao, who finished his career sixty
two eight and two, started as a flyweight back in

ninety eight. He won that title. He picked up super
bantamweight in two thousand and one. Then he beat Marco
Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez to get the featherweight
and super featherweight divisions. He wasn't done. Manny Pacquiao won
division titles at flyweight, junior featherweight, featherweight, junior lightweight, lightweight,

your welterweight, welterweight, and junior middleweight to give him eight
titles in all. Manny Pakiow comes in today at number one,
and he's too ahead of the next closest guy now.
Is holding the most titles a true measurement of the
greatest fighter ever? No, I don't think it is, but
it does show you the versatility and determination and ability

to adapt to fighting different styles at different times in
their careers. I told you earlier. Terrence Crawford's win does
at least place him in the conversation among the greatest
fighters ever, and our Daily Dose Top five today proves

you watched that Canelo versus Crawford fight this past Saturday night,
because if you did, Hey, you actually saw some sports history.
Terrence Crawford moved up two weight divisions to challenge Canelo Alvarez,
(00:48):
and he scored the biggest win of his career, a
unanimous decision victory to win the undisputed super middleweight championship
on Saturday night at Allegiance Stadium in Las Vegas. Hey,
that was Jordan putting up sixty three in the garden.
That was Joe Montana in the two minute drill. That
was Tiger at Augusta. That was Gretzky leading a rush
(01:12):
with open ice ahead of him. I'm not saying Crawford
is the goat, but Crawford is now in the conversation. Hey,
I told you last week. I fully expected Crawford to
outbox Canelo because Crawford is a slick fighter. That didn't
surprise me. It didn't even surprise me that Crawford was
such a good counterpuncher all night. Again. Crawford is a
(01:36):
slick fighter. He's a gym rat. What I didn't expect
was for Crawford to outpower Canelo. I thought Canelo would
be stronger than Crawford, land a few body blows, maybe
hurt him at least a little, and narrowly win the
fight because he was a champ. He got to beat
the champ, right. That's not what happened. And I started
(01:59):
to get concern just seeing Terence Crawford walking into the
stadium because it looked like he was carrying that extra
weight really naturally. And one thing to remember, Crawford is
thirty seven years old. There's been a lot of talk, well,
Canelo is older, Canelo is a little past his prime.
Canel is only thirty five, Crawford is two years older. Okay,
(02:23):
so the fight starts, they feel each other out. I
had Crawford winning the first few rounds. I thought Canelo
maybe won the fifth round, and what I saw on
the fifth round is what I believe changed the fight,
because in that fifth round, I thought Canelo actually connected
with Crawford and actually got a piece of him and
(02:44):
hit him pretty hard, and you saw Crawford kind of
smile back at him, and I went, uh oh, because
then Crawford came out in the sixth round way more aggressive,
and I think we started to really hate Canel's power
didn't hurt him, and Canelo may have realized then too, Yeah,
(03:07):
this isn't going as expected, because then we saw Crawford
hit Canelo a few times, and I think Canelo realized
he didn't have the power advantage that we all thought
he would now. I scored the fight one eighteen to
one ten in favor of Crawford. The judges scored at
one sixteen, one twelve, and then two of them had
at one fifteen, one thirteen, again as usual. I have
(03:30):
no idea what fight the judges were watching, but knowing boxing,
I was actually just amazed they didn't give Kanelo the win,
even though he had been thoroughly dominated all night. Hey,
we've seen it before from that filthy sport. But here's
hoping that we start seeing some more entertaining, big name
fights like this one in the future, because that was
(03:52):
a really fun night. And I know there's talk of
a rematch. I'll be honest, I don't know if I
want to see a rematch. I didn't see anything that
gave me hope Canelo could win because Crawford was just
better in all phases all night. Hey, todam it does
another week down in the NFL and college football. Today,
going to take a look at a few winners and
(04:13):
losers from that week in football. Man, you might have
heard me just say that this win actually put Terrence
Crawford into some pretty elite company. Our daily dose Top
five will take a closer look at exactly that. But first,
a couple of news stories I do want to touch on,
and one is in the world of the NCUBLEA. Did
you hear that thirteen men's college basketball players from six
(04:37):
different schools were involved in gambling schemes, including betting against
their own team, game manipulation, and sharing information with third
parties for gambling purposes. The NCUBA announced that last week,
yeah players associated with Eastern Michigan Temple, Arizona State, New Orleans,
(04:59):
North Carolin Line of A and T, and Mississippi Valley
State are under investigation for gambling violations. That is, according
to the NCAA, none of the players, though they say,
are currently enrolled at the schools where those infractions occurred. Now,
I have a couple of observations on this one. I
am noticing that this is basically all irrelevant players on
(05:23):
basically all irrelevant teams in the grand scheme of things. Now,
maybe that's just a wacky coincidence, but I'm not sure
I believe that. I actually believe that is almost by design.
Hey hit the irrelevant guys at the irrelevant programs, and
let that be a warning to the relevant players at
(05:44):
the blue blood programs that they could get themselves in
trouble if they aren't careful. And Secondly, I strongly doubt
we're really going to hear that much of any true
punishment that's handed down for any of these infractions. All
these guys are going to get a certain talking to,
But I really believe this is just posturing, and I'm
not sure it's really gonna serve as enough of a
(06:06):
deterrent because we're not gonna hear about any punishments. We're
not gonna hear about jail time. None of those things
are gonna happen. It's going to keep happening. It's probably
going to get worse. And one final story that at
least I found interesting because it seems that the Baltimore
Ravens had planned to draft University of Colorado quarterbacks should
(06:27):
Dour Sanders. They claimed they were gonna take him in
the fifth round of this past twenty twenty five NFL Draft,
But before the Ravens could turn in the card, the
former Colorado buff star let it be known to the
Ravens he didn't want to be on that roster. He
didn't want to be on a roster with Lamar Jackson
because he wouldn't have a chance to play anytime soon.
(06:49):
You see, Sanders knows that Jackson is a two time MVP,
he's one of the top players in the league. He's
not gonna lose his job in Baltimore anytime soon. So
he conveyed the message to Baltimore that he didn't want
to be drafted by them and that he preferred to
end up in another place where he might have a
chance to play sooner. So the Ravens instead drafted an
(07:09):
offensive lineman no one's ever heard of, and Sanders fell
to the Cleveland Browns. So he didn't want to be
behind Lamar Jackson. But currently he's listed third on the
Browns depth chart, behind Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Dylan Gabriel.
But when you stop and think about the whole situation,
(07:31):
Sanders called the Ravens a team with an incredible quarterback
to learn from and a team that is always in
contention for a Super Bowl that he didn't want to
go there because he would struggle to get playing time.
I mean, forget the player development in a franchise with
a history of winning, Forget that the head coach is
(07:53):
among the best. Never mind the role model that Lamar
Jackson would provide, or the weapons on both sides of
the ball that say would inherit if God forbid, something
happened to Jackson and shouldor found himself on the field.
This was about shad Door Sanders. He wanted the spotlight.
He wanted the chance at playing time, even if it
(08:13):
was for a notoriously garbage heap of a franchise. I
know it got thrown around a lot. Why should or
Sanders fell? But this says a lot about Sanders and
about the people that he has around him. It's no
wonder hefel you chose to back up Joe Flacco and
Dylan Gabriel with a terrible team over backing up Lamar
(08:35):
and a contender. Again, your level of entitlement just doesn't
really match your level of talent. So Week two of
the NFL is now complete, and as usual, we've got
a few winners and we've got a few losers from
the week. Let's take a look at a few of each.
I'm gonna give our first winner to a team that,
at least right now, might look like the best team
(08:58):
in the league. It's early. I'm not fully in on
this quite yet, but the offense is putting up big numbers,
and now with the addition of Micah Parsons, the Green
Bay Packers just might be a Super Bowl contender if
they can keep this all together. Hey, they run the
ball effectively with running back Josh Jacobs, and I haven't
witnessed it personally just yet, but quarterback Jordan Love is
(09:21):
apparently putting up some big numbers when he plays. And
again now with Michaeh Parsons that Packers defense, they might
be one of the top units in the league. Here
are some more good news the Packers' next five or
six games. Yet they're highly winnable. Hey, don't be surprised
(09:42):
if Green Bay is undefeated. When they face the Eagles
in November, they probably will be undefeated. That is going
to be a heavyweight fight. But I will give our
first loser to the Cincinnati Bengals, of course, who every
single year we discussed it here on the Dose, how
they just keep trying to get core Joe Burrow killed,
and it looks like they've kind of accomplished that this
(10:04):
year because Burrow is now out indefinitely with turf toe,
which I know that sounds minor, it's not. It's basically
torn tendons in your toe. You can't walk, you can't
play with it. And hey, on Sunday, the Bengals managed
to beat the Jaguars. They are not to and o,
which sounds great until you remember they've beaten the Browns
(10:28):
and the Jaguars. Next up for Cincinnati Vikings, Broncos, Lions, Packers.
Good luck. It's almost like the Bengals should have spent
some money on their offensive line. They just never do that.
And before you want to tell me about Browning stepping
in and he's gonna be fine, just remember last year
(10:50):
Joe Burrow was throwing for four hundred yards and they
were still losing. Are you gonna tell me Brownie's gonna
throw for more than four hundred yards? Because I don't
believe that. I'm gonna give a winner, and I'm gonna
give it to a guy that has at least looked
really good through two weeks of the season, and that
is Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones. Hey, through these first
two games, Jones has now thrown for almost six hundred
(11:12):
yards and the Colts are two and oh they lit
up the Denver Broncos defense on Sunday. Hey, the Colts
might win that AFC South at this rate. I'm not
sold on their defense quite yet. They need to get healthy.
They got a lot of guys out the Daniel Jones
is playing really well so far, but I will give
out another loser. And I know, I know this is
(11:33):
only temporary, but I do not like what I am
saying from the Kansas City Chiefs I know they don't
have her sheet Rice, I know Xavier Worthy is out,
but it's not the passing game I'm worried about. Through
two games, Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the chief leading rusher.
The Chiefs have zero run game, no wide receivers. Oh
(11:54):
and by the way, no pass rush because past rusher
Chris Jones he doesn't look like he used to. You know,
I've been saying it the past few weeks, but teams
are no longer afraid of the Chiefs like they used
to be. Yes, I know they'll get better. I expect
them to rally, I expect them to improve, but the
Chiefs aren't quite the same. They just aren't. I will
(12:17):
give one final winner in the NFL this week, and
I Am going to just give it to NFL offenses
in general. You know, many times as the season starts,
we see defenses kind of hitting the ground running and
then offenses take a little while to gel and kind
of get up to speed. That hasn't been the case
so far this season. NFL teams are scoring some serious
(12:40):
points right now. Teams are averaging over twenty three points
per game, which is the highest average we have seen
since twenty twenty. This past weekend, we saw more than
fifteen NFL teams score at least twenty five points. Hey,
the NFL has tilted the game in favor of the offenses,
(13:01):
and it shows no question about that, which brings us
to our final NFL loser. And that is, unfortunately the
NFL officials. And again it's not fully their fault because
the league asks them to see way too much. But man,
we are seeing some really bad officiating. And yes, I
am bitter about the nonsensical flag against my Broncos that
(13:24):
hurt them so much. I'm not gonna say it cost
them the game, because they hurt themselves enough to cost
them the game. But it wasn't just that. What in
the world are refs looking at In that Chiefs Eagles game.
We're seeing defensive players be flagged constantly for little tiki
tac fouls, But on every play, just about I see
an offensive tackle stand up before the ball is snap.

We're seeing guys jump across the line early. I don't
understand it. Are they just ignoring it because it's happening
so much that I have to think it's not an accident. Hey,
the NFL officiating is clearly not in regular season mo
just yet, but it needs to hurry up and catch
up because it has been bad. But now let's move
over to college football, which is almost now one month
(14:08):
into the season, and yes, we are starting to learn
some things fast over there. Let's take a look at
some winners and lose those in college football as well.
I'm going to give our very first winner and I'm
going to give it out in college football to comedian
Bo Vaughn. Also, I'm drinking like Monster energy drinks sometimes,
which are delicious, but they make you want to pay
think you want to beat your wife. Du dude, I've
(14:29):
seen a lot of dudes drinking Monster that you know
they're going home to punch. Why in the world would
I do that? Because it seems that Vanderbilt quarterback Diego
Pavia told the Vonne that if his Vanderbilt Commodorees went
into Colombia, the home of the number eleven South Carolina
game Cocks, and won the game, that von could go
(14:51):
out with his nugget of a hot mom. Well. Pavia
threw for one hundred and seventy seven yards and two touchdowns,
and Vandy smoked the game Cocks thirty one to seven.
It was quietly one of the biggest upsets of the season,
and it is a comedian that will be reaping the
benefits of it. Hey, it's kind of weird to say,
(15:12):
but this might be the best Vanderbilt team in history.
I will give out our first loser, though, and that
is to UCLA quarterback Nico ima Lava. You remember im Lava, right,
He was at Tennessee, but he wanted Tennessee to give
him more money and they said they wouldn't. So he
went to UCLA and they ended up actually well actually
(15:34):
saying they'd give him more money, but then they gave
him less money than what Tennessee was going to give him.
So he was going to go back to Tennessee, but
then Tennessee didn't mind him back, so now he's at UCLA. Well,
this past weekend, the Tennessee Volunteers were hosting Georgia. They
were the host of College Football Game Day on ESPN.
The game went to overtime. It was big time college
(15:54):
football and New Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar he's actually really good.
He threw for three hundred and seventy one yards. He
had four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Nico is playing at UCLA in
front of one hundred and seventy five people in the stands,
and UCLA is getting smoked by New Mexico thirty five
to ten. And UCLA just fired their head coachter Sean Foster.

So I mean, good luck, kid, you got greedy, and honestly,
this has been painful to watch. Whoever is giving that
kid advice you failed and as a result, he's a loser.
But I'm gonna give a winner, and I'm going to
give it to a conference, and that is the Southeastern Conference. Now.
I know, going into the season we were saying how
(16:37):
there might not really be an elite team in the country,
and based on what I've seen so far, I still
stand by that. But the SEC is as strong as
it has ever been, top to bottom. Do you realize
there are right now twelve SEC teams ranked in the
top twenty five. Almost half of the top twenty five
(16:57):
is in the SEC. Might sound crazy, but the SEC
could get four, maybe even five teams into the College
Football Playoff at this rate. Will any of them win it,
I'm not sure. But if four or five get in,
oh they're taking a big chunk of that playoff money.
Because that is a big chunk for each one of
(17:19):
those teams that makes it. I'm going to give you
another loser, and that is to Tennessee placekicker Max Gilbert,
who missed a forty three yard field goal at the
end of regulation that would have given the Volunteers a
win over number six Georgia, but instead he missed and
Georgia went on to win in overtime. In fact, Max,
(17:39):
you know what, No hold on a second, I'm not
giving a loser to a kicker. I always say it,
and I'm gonna say it again. Kickers and punters are
not football players. Unless you're going out and making tackles
or blocking, you're not a football player. Hey, if you'll
let it come down to a kicker or all bets

are off, take care of business and quit blaming those
poor little nerds. I remember that you should be stopping

quite easily, and they are showing some signs they might

end up being a little bit dangerous. Head coach Lincoln Riley,
he's kind of got this offense figured out and it's
up to par and we're gonna find out real soon
what USC is made of. Because they play Michigan State
this week. That'll be easy. But then check out those
slate of games. USC has Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Nebraska,

So we're gonna find out real quick if USC is real.
But they look good so far. Speaking of Notre Dame,
I have to give him a loser because the Fighting
Irish are now zero to two and it's by a
combined four points. After losing that heartbreaker in Week one
to Miami twenty seven to twenty four, the Irish lost
again on Saturday to Texas A and M by a
(19:51):
single point, and that loss could cost them a college
football playoff birth because remember, Notre Dame doesn't have a
conference championship to lift their strength of schedule. Notre Dame
is going to have to be perfect rest of the way,
and they might even need a little help. But they've
had a hard time trying to figure things out against
(20:12):
top competition in those first two weeks. First week, I
didn't think they gave the ball to Jeremiah Love nearly enough.
Second week they gave it to him enough. But A
and M's offense is a problem. They couldn't stop them.
Notre Dame's in a little bit of trouble. Now They've
got to play really well the rest of the way.
We'll give out our final college football winner this week
to a team that is outperforming well at least my expectations,
(20:34):
and that is the Miami Hurricanes. Because all the Miami
Hurricanes have done so far is beat two top twenty
five teams. First they beat number six Notre Dame. Then
they beat number eighteen South Florida, and I fully expect
them to beat Florida this week. Florida's billion aper. His
seat is red hot right now. He can't even sit down.
But you know, I picked Miami to be a playoff team,
(20:57):
but I thought they might maybe slip once in games.
Right now, they're looking strong, and honestly, you could make
a case Miami should probably be in the top five
based on what they've done on the field. They are
definitely a winner, and our final loser can go nowhere else.
It simply must go to Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo
(21:17):
Swinney because the Tigers dropped another game on Saturday, and
this time it was to unrank Georgia Tech. So Clemson
is not one two and remember they had to come
back against Troy to get the one. Clemson quarterback k
Klubnick was expected to be a Heisman candidate. Right now,
(21:38):
he has just three touchdowns and three interceptions. But Clemson's
offense has no playmakers. They're averaging just nineteen points per game.
And don't forget they still have SMU, Florida State, and
South Carolina on that schedule. Now, don't get me wrong,
if they could figure things out, they could still back
(21:59):
the way into the playoff. Hey, just get to the
ACC title game like last year and maybe you could
get in. But right now this doesn't even look fixable
because the Clemson Tigers are just not very good now.
As we do so many weeks here through Dela Dos,
we need to get to our dayly dose Top five.

Like I said at the top of the show, on
Saturday night, Terrence Crawford made some history and placed himself
among the greatest boxers in history. And that might sound
like hyperbole, it isn't, because when Crawford beat Canelo Alvarez
on Saturday, he won his fifth division title. Crawford has
not won titles at lightweight, light welterweight, welterweight, light middleweight,
(22:47):
and on Saturday night he won super middlewaight. But do
you realize that places him on a very shortlist of
fighters with the most division titles. Today, our dealy Dose
Top five is counting down the fighters with the most
titles in history, and you're going to see Crawford does
indeed belong in the conversation among the all time greats.
(23:11):
So let's start off at number five. Wow, and we
actually have kind of a three way tie for number five,
and now with Crawford, this is a four way tie.
But we'll start at number five and we're going to
give this to Thomas the Hitman Hearns, who finished his
career sixty one, five and one. But the star from
Detroit got the first of these five championships back in
(23:32):
nineteen eighty with the TKO finished up a Pinocuavis that
gave him the welterweight title. Two years after that, he
won the super welterweight title against Wilfred Benitez. I was
number two. Hearns defended that title on a few occasions.
Then he moved up to middleweight, super middleweight and light
heavyweight and he found more success. He kept winning and
(23:55):
he put his name in the boxing record books with
five titles he helped throughout his career. But you know,
Thomas Hearns made no physical sense because if you ever
saw him fight, he was tall and skinny, he had
that seventy eight inch reach. Oh so he just stood
outside and beat with the job no, because he had
sledgehammers for hands. Go back and watch him knock Roberto
(24:18):
Duran unconscious. Tommy Hearns was such a dangerous fighter, and
his first round against Marvin Hagler is still the greatest
round of boxing I've ever witnessed in my life. Tommy
Hearns won five different division titles and he comes in
today on our list tied at number five, although I
guess he's actually kind of tied for third. Whatever, Tommy
(24:40):
Hearns is five. Also tied with Hearns at number four
is a guy who fought Tommy twice and did pretty
well against him. Because Sugar Ray Leonard went thirty six,
three and one in his career and he was the
second five division champion now. Sugar Ray won titles from
welterweight to lightheav in nine years from seventy nine to
(25:02):
eighty eight. First, he got a late stoppage against Wilford
Benitez to pick up his very first world championship. He
defended that twice. He went to super welterweight and he
won that in a ninth round stoppage. Leonard's third title
came in eighty seven when he squeaked out a close
split decision over Marvin Hagler that I don't know if
he actually won, and he won the super middleweight and
(25:24):
light heavyweight title as well. Sugar Ray Leonard won five
different titles in five different divisions owned by the Way.
Leonard fought Tommy Hearns in eighty one. He won a
fourteenth round TKO, which is kind of jacked up because
Hearns was actually head on all cards, but Ray heard
him and got him in trouble and now to stop
the fight. The two fight again to a draw in
(25:46):
eighty nine, but both of them were way past their prime.
But Ray Leonard comes in today at number four. At
number three, we have the last fighter that is now
tied with Crawford, Hearns and Leonard, and that is undefeated
superstar Floyd may Weather Junior, who of course retired at
fifty and zher and is considered one of the best
boxes of all time. Of course, Floyd was raised in
(26:08):
the gym. He started his boxing championship run in the
super featherweight class and beat Gennaro Hernandez back in ninety eight.
Mayweather dominated that division for a number of years, and
then he jumped up to higher divisions. He beat Jasei
Castillo back in two thousand and two got the lightweight belt,
then he added the junior welterweight belt after beating Arturo
Gotti in the sixth round, and then he got a
(26:30):
win over Zab Judah and Oscar dal la Joya in
two thousand and six. In two thousand and seven and
became a five division world champion by taking the welterweight
title and super welterweight titles. Hey, there's no question Floyd
is one of the best ever. My only issue I
have with Floyd was that he rarely ever fought great
fighters when they were in their prime. Really smart business
(26:53):
for Floyd, but really bad for boxing. So I probably
hold a grudge for that, but you can't question his greatness.
Floyd Bayweather comes in at number three. Okay, so we've
had three guys, and if you add Crawford, four guys
that have tied with five division titles. At number two,
we have a guy that actually has six. Might surprise

you a little bit, but do not forget the Oscar
de la Joya, who went thirty nine and six. Was
the record holder for most titles in different weight classes
for a number of years, but Dale Joya began to
collect belts in the lower weight classes. First was at
super featherweight. In that same year he beat Jorge Piez
and claimed the whiteweight title. His third belt came at

the expense of Julio Caesar Chavez, where he beat the
Mexican fighter and won the light welterweight title. Well, then
he fought Parnell Whittaker, and that was quite a test actually,
Whitaker gave him all he wanted, but Oscar came out
on top and took the welterweight title. And then he
moved up one more weight class and challenged Javier Castelejo
in June of two thousand and one and won the

light middleweight belt. Three years later, he set the record
when he got his sixth division title by beating Felix
Sterm to earn the middleweight title. Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, and
Mayweber all tied at number five. Now, hey, I wasn't
surprised by any of them, but you kind of forget

about Oscar de la Joya, but he had six titles.
He comes in today at number two. So he reached
the fighter that has held more division titles than anyone
in history, and we've got a clear cut winner because
Filipino sports icon Manny Pacquiao, who finished his career sixty
two eight and two, started as a flyweight back in

ninety eight. He won that title. He picked up super
bantamweight in two thousand and one. Then he beat Marco
Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez to get the featherweight
and super featherweight divisions. He wasn't done. Manny Pacquiao won
division titles at flyweight, junior featherweight, featherweight, junior lightweight, lightweight,

your welterweight, welterweight, and junior middleweight to give him eight
titles in all. Manny Pakiow comes in today at number one,
and he's too ahead of the next closest guy now.
Is holding the most titles a true measurement of the
greatest fighter ever? No, I don't think it is, but
it does show you the versatility and determination and ability

to adapt to fighting different styles at different times in
their careers. I told you earlier. Terrence Crawford's win does
at least place him in the conversation among the greatest
fighters ever, and our Daily Dose Top five today proves
