With Caitlin Clark turning down the chance to appear during the NBA’s all-star weekend, and the league to get rid of the game for good. There are no stakes, so why would players risk blowing out a knee playing in it? It ruins the NBA’s product to keep it, getting rid of the all-star game is in the best interest of the NBA.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Dan Riley for Sports Talk Compassionate World Internet Radio.
According to reports, Caitlin Clark has passed up the opportunity
to participate in NBA All Star Weekend. While some may

(00:21):
be disappointed, it's a reminder that like other leagues All
Star games, the NBA can't get players in either league,
the WNBA or NBA to care about All Star Weekend

(00:43):
because there is nothing at stake. I have just torn
to shreds the NFL Pro Bowl on this show, and
the cold truth is, if the NBA doesn't give higher
stakes to its All Star Game, like home field advantage

(01:07):
in the finals NBA Finals to the winner of either conference,
it should just get rid of All Star Weekend altogether.
No NBA player in their right mind is going to
want to risk blowing out a knear an ankle in

(01:31):
a game that doesn't count. It is a glorified exhibition game,
much like the National Football League's Pro Bowl was. The
era of being able to get excited about the greatest

(01:54):
players in the game a basketball going head to head
are long gone. Whatever reason players felt to give their
best effort in the eighties and nineties, they are now gone.

(02:15):
And the cold truth is NBA All Star Weekend should
become a relic of the past, just like the Pro Bowl.
The irony is with players getting higher as salaries, they

(02:44):
know to save their best effort for games with the
standings at stake, not a glorified version of the basketball games.
We see a recess or in middle schools. I have

(03:13):
pointed out the leagues like the National Hockey League in
NFL need to get rid of their All Star games
for player safety. Well, the NBA needs to get rid
of All Star Weekend for the sake of the credibility

(03:33):
of its product. People love to complain about the effort
players put in during the regular season, but the All
Star Game is embarrassing to see players always give the

(03:55):
best effort. The NBA needs to simply get rid of
the All Star Game and hope for the best. This
is Dan Riley for Sports Talk. Thank you for tuning
in and so lo

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
