Speaker 4 (02:45):
Danny, how are you, my friend?
Speaker 5 (02:47):
Doing just fine? Sounds like you're in a very exciting spot.
I've used that the services of that company before and
it's a good idea for sure.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Yeah, it is great, and there's been a steady stream
of people coming in and a lot of folks walking
out with money in their pocket.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
So yeah, I love it. I love it.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
I know what I'm gonna do when mild Electronics are done,
I'm gonna bring him in here. I've got a iPad.
I meant to bring down here and I forgot to
do it. That we're done with the family, kids don't
need it. Got to have something more powerful at college.
So I was gonna bring that down and I forgot it.
But I will be bringing it to pay more, Danny.
I want to start with this. The odds on who
(03:32):
will be the next manager fired. Our friends at bet
online put these numbers up. Brian Snitker of the Braves
plus one p fifty is the favorite, Tory Lavallo of
the Diamondbacks plus three hundred, Aaron Boone plus three twenty five,
Rocobaldelli plus five hundred, Marcotse plus seven hundred, Will Venable
(03:54):
of the White Sox plus eight hundred, and then Matt
Puchero at plus nine hundred. He is the seventh favorite.
Let me make sure I got that right. Two for six, Yeah,
seventh favorite. And from there you go all the way
to Clayton McCullough of the Marlins at plus two thousand.
How I mean, he's not the top guys, not the
(04:16):
second guy. They're not calling him dead man walking. I'm
not trying to overstate this, but I those are the
worst odds ever. There is literally no reason to ever.
I think he's more like one hundred to one that
he's the next manager fired. Again, it's just the next
one fired. It's not like Willie get fired this year's
(04:36):
he's the next one fired.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
I don't understand that at all, unless somebody has some
information about, you know, conflict, and that doesn't seem to
be there to any of our eyes in years, because
it really means that he's reasonably likely to get fired
in their minds somewhat soon, because three or four of
(05:01):
those guys are gonna get fired.
Speaker 6 (05:03):
I think he's got a better chance of winning Manager
of the Year than he has.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
Yes, I would say that's true. Yes, crazy, I don't
even know, that's what I said. The only thing I
can think of is that somebody has got some dirt
or something that's that's the only thing that makes any
sense at all. And it doesn't make any sense at
all to me period. So I don't get it. I
really don't get it. It's almost like they threw it
in there so that people would talk about it. I
(05:29):
don't know.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Yeah, Well, a buddy of ours is the pr guy
for that, for that sports book, and so I reached
out to him because I had about two week old numbers.
I've had numbers from like August the eighth. I think,
is that what I told you guys? Look here August
eleven eleven, so eleven days ago, so there is you know,
(05:54):
I'm like, okay, well, maybe nice work being flashed hundies
from a gentleman who brought in a bunch of electronics.
Well what's up Joe the But but you know, I
was like, okay, well, maybe that those odds are because
they hadn't hit their hot streak.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
And now certainly he's fallen down.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
No, he's plus nine hundred and then he's plus nine hundred down.
So it makes me think like maybe just nobody bets
on this really, so there's no action to move it.
But I just I find it like when you know,
there's the baseball fans here when they complain about Maclchero,
I think it's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
But I couldn't believe that.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
You know that the odds are fueled by what people
will bet on, and I'm like, the seventh most likely
manager to be fired is absolutely not the case. Like
it's like I said, unless there's something we don't know about.
And I think you can make a strong case set
either he or I think this year either he or
JJ Pecola should win their award, right if they if
they make the playoffs, I mean, finish that thought. If
(06:53):
they make the playoffs, either mculcherer is the Manager of
the Year or JJ Piccole is the GM at the
Executive of the Year.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
You can make a case that both are true.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
But they should win one of those awards if they
go back in there this year after the the you know,
all the stress that they've had to deal with, all
the injuries, you know, the slow.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Start, the no hitting.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Like, I don't know who could possibly be more in
line for that award.
Speaker 5 (07:18):
And also, in JJ Piccolo's case, the moves that they
made at the trade deadline have been effective for him. Yeah,
so yeah, I don't I I just kind of maybe
just disregarded as an elephant just flew. I must have
(07:38):
imagined that. Yeah, it doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
Now.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
I can't really imagine that they get tons of action
on this. Maybe Aaron Boone or something somebody you know
would want to you know, some New York fans and like, yeah,
let's right, I'll hook my wag into that. But it
doesn't know. It makes no sense, It makes no sense whatsoever.
Maybe maybe it is because Royal's fans seem to buy in,
(08:05):
you know, maybe skewed. Maybe it's because we're here, but
they seem far too infuriated with the manager. So maybe
that's driving.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
This that women say that again.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
I mean, the fans here seem inordinately over critical of Puaturo.
I mean, you hear it from David Leski and he's
talking about his comments. You know, we see it and
Twitter and things like that. It's surprising to me that
a guy who I think we think, I think we're
(08:40):
in kind of common ground, that I think he's a
good manager who does a good job. He's a you know,
for my taste, he's a little bit too of a
steady hand as far as his press conferences are concerned,
you know, in the offing, I well, I mean he's
not Andy Reid, but he's not miles away either, you know,
(09:01):
just not saying much or he doesn't say much, you know,
that's that's but he says it's it's genial. Generally, he'll
get his back up a little bit with stupid questions,
so that that's fine, and then he has the right time.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
I would I would actually appreciate it if he'd get
his I think he bends over backwards for the dumb questions.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
I think he's amazingly patient with some of them.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
Well, there are a couple of where you can tell
he's like, well, that's just what happened, so what's the question.
But but for the most part, I do think he's
very nice about some of the stuff.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
And he generally, I mean, he's not stupid, he's not
the blandest I've ever seen, but he does he's.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
On the he's on the bland side. But I think
it's by design.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
Right, I think it's totally by design. I'm just saying that,
you know, for my taste, i'd rather have a little
more spice from the manager. But that's okay, you know,
but that's not part of it. That's not really his job.
His job is to go out and perform, and for
two years in a row, they're leading a franchise potentially
to the playoffs that was dead eighteen months ago.
Speaker 6 (10:07):
Yeah. I hear from people sometimes the other night, when
he got tossed, someone saying, yeah, that's really I wish
he'd do that more often. He has No, he has
no fire. And I'm like, he's always what do you
want him to do? Go out and scream all the time.
You know, it's it's hard to if this team needs
some fire, like it's an every day for six month game.
You can't fire. Is so overrated to me as far
(10:29):
as how much that brings to a baseball team. He
needs to manage. This steady hand is much better than
going going off every third night.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Well, I think the best manager in baseball right now
is aj Hinch. I think he's been a great manager
at two different places under different circumstances.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Shocking he was an astro, Well.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
He's not now, But I think he's taken two franchises
who were in the dumper and led them to proficiency.
And he's about He's like, he's like Matt Guturo, just
as steady as she goes guy. He never gets upset.
I never see him getting run So what looks like
(11:11):
a guy?
Speaker 4 (11:13):
Then you've never questioned, but you've.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Never asked a stupid question. I know that. Yeah, I
know a J.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Hinch got all fired up at me when he was
here with the Royals.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
Yeah it wasn't didn't you ask him about a game
he didn't catch.
Speaker 6 (11:31):
That Brett was Brett Maine man.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
Brent May was like, I don't know, man, I didn't
catch tonight.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
Right, Okay? I thought that was the one.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
No, No Hinch I think was part of the crew
that was upset when I was like, well, since they
don't have a steroid testing in baseball, who would you
guess who would be the ones you'd want to be tested?
Speaker 4 (11:52):
He did not like that topic.
Speaker 5 (11:54):
I think anybody generally likes that topic. But you're there's
no no issue with going there. I mean, it was
just a Lamas calamity for baseball. But I do think
he's a great manager. And he's the same way you
see him over there leaning on the rail and seems
to be just a calm fellow, and he's done a
(12:15):
great job at two different stops and shrugged off you know, incredible,
you know, yeah, black Mark on his career so deservedly so.
But so I I don't get it. I guess I
just don't get it. Well, they say, also it's the Royals.
(12:35):
If you're just trying to get some attention, put some
good manager up there on a good team and say
he's the seventh most likely you.
Speaker 6 (12:45):
Hear you hear fans say he has he can't manage
the bullpen despite the fact that they have like the
eighth best bullpen in the ra in baseball, because every
time he makes a move that doesn't work, it was
the wrong guy. Why didn't you go out and get
the guy who didn't give up, you know, run, instead
of the guy that did. It's some of the criticisms
I hear are like, have you seen anybody else manage?
(13:06):
Have you seen the way any other team does it?
You know it's and there's I think the saw reason
for it.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
Either.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
First of all, the Rows have a large cadre of
their fans who watched a seamless, impeccable bullpen that was
really a push button operation. There was no strategy involved
with it.
Speaker 6 (13:26):
You're the seventh or the eighth year of the ninth.
I mean, that's it.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
There was a strategy in saying that's what it's gonna be.
But when each games, in each game, it's say, okay,
you're in, you're in, you're in, you did your job.
I'm a genius. So they've been through that, then the
roils have sucked a lot of the time, and you're
just programmed to complain in general, and you're gonna mess
up some games. And the Rows play a lot of
(13:50):
close games because until recently they know score very many runs,
and so it feels even more painful when you give
one away. So I think all that's conspiring a bit,
but I don't get the whole thing. It seems weird.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
I think, you know, the lack of fire is actually
a good thing. I mean, I think, yes, it's part
of the reason why he's good. Like we were getting
all fired up about alex Umwalt and if you you
know the fact that he just stayed calm and cool,
and now they're all of a sudden they have morphed
into being a modern baseball team that walks in Homer's Like,
(14:24):
I mad props MATD props to Alexumbwalt, MATD props to Macultral,
to JJ Piccole for all of them staying the course,
because I mean, I think it was a real legitimate
question to ask should he be fired?
Speaker 5 (14:37):
Right, And also they deserved credit for the fact that
they didn't just sit there and stay the course. They
stayed the course as far as their approach was concerned,
as far as being steady and calm. But they went
out and got a few professional hitters, whether they were
great or not, they at least knew what they were doing,
not young guys who were just desperately drowning in their
(15:00):
major league efforts to hit.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
Soh wholeheartedly.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
I mean, I think for the it's it's to me
like the whole thing is like, well, you know, because
the one thing I always, you know, try not to
do is like I call it, get get caught rooting
for your prediction, right like I thought Zumbwolt should have
been replaced.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
I'm not going to run from it.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
But I'm being proved wrong based upon how they're They're
going happy to say it, thrilled. Don't like seeing people
get fired, want the Royals to do well. But I
think there's a lot of people that somewhere along the
way they decided now you know, probably during the hundred
lost season, and they're just gonna keep trying to find
a reason why.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
No no.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
I was right two years ago when I said he
should be fired. You know, I was right when I
said JJ should have been fired in that first year
and then just like every little thing, and I what
a horrible way to live your life, the constantly trying to,
you know, bail yourself out of being, you know, an
idiot like I. For the life of me, I just
don't I don't get it. I don't get it. And
(16:02):
I think this team is you know, I said it.
And that's the other thing is Danny I don't hear.
There's no one in the media that's running him down, right,
unless not missing something.
Speaker 6 (16:12):
Almost anyone who asked if covers baseball has a really
high opinion. I've yet to hear anyone we've talked to
when they talked about macutrier or say anything but good
things about him.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
Agreed, agreed, and so for me.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
And the other thing is like on June fifteenth, I
said they were done, and I really thought they were,
and I still think they may never get there because
we've talked about the schedule. The Yankee schedule has so
many cream puffs on it they're not catching them. The
Red Sox schedule has more cream puffs than the Royal
schedule does. Somebody tried to say, who was it Curtis
who had that the Royal schedule wasn't that tough?
Speaker 6 (16:45):
It was David showing Field and a piece for ESPN
dot com this morning about al overreactions, and one of
the overreactions was the Royals will make the playoffs, and
he said it was not an overreaction, and he turned
their schedule schedules soft the rest of the way other
than this trip to Detroit and the trip to them
coming back here next week. He says. Otherwise, however, their
(17:07):
schedules pretty soft the rest of the way, including the
season ending road trip to Anaheim and Sacramento.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
Well, the Angels haven't just bombed yet. I'm hoping that
that is a cream puff at the end.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
But he just breezed right by the Mariners and Blue
Jays that are still on their.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
Sched And the Mariners, I mean, the Mariners to me
are too good to continue playing the way they're playing.
I think, you know, this is their bad spot they're
probably gonna play and when they found it again. Yeah,
and the I think their team's good. So if they
continue to play like they have, then some where's the
(17:44):
where's the manager of the Mariners on that list?
Speaker 6 (17:48):
Dig? The teams loaded dig this thirteen game stretch early
from early to mid September at Cleveland for three, at
for four, at Philly for three, Seattle here for three
in Toronto, Here for three? Yeah, what's soft about that?
That guy's neat.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
I don't facing his whole thing on the fact that
they have. You know, at the end of the season,
they could be toast by then. Yeah, after that road
it might not matter if you forget about it. And
you know what, the Athletics are going to be no
basket of fruit the last series of the year, free wheeling,
young guys who can hit. Who wants to play them?
Speaker 4 (18:23):
They can't pitch.
Speaker 7 (18:24):
They have a good one.
Speaker 5 (18:26):
It's real good. I was talking to the box score
today of them, and it's like, oh eight fifty LPs nine,
oh five, eight thirty five, Holy moly. And also they'll
just be having fun.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
Yeah, if you're if your guys off that day, they're
gonna make him.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
Pay, no question, right, you know, I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
I think that's one of the reasons why I think
in the end I might be right that they they
don't ever even hold a playoff spot, let alone.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
Actually get there.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
But I don't think you can deny they are a
playoff caliber team down.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
And they they have.
Speaker 5 (19:00):
They stepped on the gas right when they had to. Yes, Yes,
they deserve every bit of credit, every bit.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
Of credit to JJ Picole, mcltraor the whole coaching staff.
And that's what's so fun, is like I feel like
you can exhale now, right, Like we don't have to
sit in every year be like, oh God, was that
year just a fluke? But then now they're going to
get back to you know, sucking, you know, because that's
what they do. Like, I feel like I can finally
(19:26):
be like, I don't know what they're going to do
this offseason, but it'll be smart. There'll be a reason
for it, and they will be a competitive club next year.
And by the way, if they make the playoffs again
this year, they will have made the playoffs two of
their first three years.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
They're more than competitive. I mean, they're good.
Speaker 5 (19:41):
Yeah, yes, you know, can they be on their way
to you know, being like the Brewers or something. Maybe not, man,
that's hard, but maybe, but maybe. Yeah. I mean, who
the Brewers just create good teams out of thin air
every year, seemingly.
Speaker 7 (20:00):
I can't remember the Brewers GM's name, but he won
Executive of the Year last year. Yeah, I really, if
you look at it, I think.
Speaker 5 (20:08):
You probably could win it again.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Yeah, he could.
Speaker 7 (20:10):
Probably win it again, but I would have given it
to the to the Royals front office last year thirty
win improvement.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
I agreed.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
And guess where he came from? Tampa, Tampa, same place Matchero.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
I mean I was gonna say that to Matt Colchrero's
pedigree is also good.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
And it's which is Tampa and Cleveland? Right, teams that
know what they're doing?
Speaker 6 (20:33):
Does Pat Murphy strike you mean? Oh, he's a legendary firebrand.
He's always just you know, running out and screaming at people.
Speaker 5 (20:40):
No, no, it carries pancakes in his pocket, see that? Yes, yes,
it was delightful. You want a pancakes because what do
you what do you like during the game? He goes
anything that fits in my pocket.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
He folds up pancakes and he'll pull out a pancake
and be chewing on a pancakeake during the game.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
Reason enough to root for the Brewers.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
Probably also smart enough not to put syrup on the pancake.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Yeah, what is he He's got something dips in though
I can't remember what they were saying.
Speaker 5 (21:14):
They may maybe brown sugar in a cup or something.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Yeah, I can't remember what it is. But anyway, all right,

Speaker 4 (23:01):
I think I know it, Danny, I'll give you.
Speaker 5 (23:04):
Was Carl Stromsky, wouldn't Yeah it was yes, right two
ninety seven.
Speaker 6 (23:07):
Mike Yastrimsky's grandpa three oh one in nineteen sixty eight.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
Right.
Speaker 6 (23:11):
However, if it continues, the second lowest ever will be
Will Smith of the Dodgers this year. He's currently leaving
the National League at three oh three but there are
two other guys tied at three oh three. I think
Trey Turner and Freddy Freeman are also at three o three,
so one of those guys.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
So funny. If you look at Carl Yastremsky's line from
that year, it's substantially not as good as the year
before the triple ground, but based on the year, it's
like one of the greatest seasons of all time. You're
the pitcher because nobody hit anything. No, he's also the
answer teller Truman question that was the most career hits
(23:47):
by a player who never had a two hundred hit season,
like one ninety seven was his his peak and he
played oh yeah, thirty four hundred hits.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
He's also the favorite player of uh of who?
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Who? Who?
Speaker 5 (24:02):
He was my favorite player when I was a little boy.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
But oh really, yeah, that's not who I'm thinking of.
Speaker 6 (24:11):
No, I wouldn't think you would know that a favorite
player of Is it someone both of us know?
Speaker 4 (24:21):
Yes, you know her?
Speaker 6 (24:24):
Hmm huh, I'm blanking Carla Tortelli.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
Oh right, right, right, yes, yes, that's right.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
Nice. Carla was the feisty waitress on the show Cheers.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
Well she would then then she would have gotten along
well with Carl because he was feist. He was no
basket or free Okay, no.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
He was. He was just he was.
Speaker 5 (24:48):
I would say he's probably like Mike Mustakas.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Yes, there was one episode where Sam was going to
do the news, you know what he's doing the sports.
Cat was doing the news and he goes, guess what
former red sock is going to be doing the sports
and she's like, going through everyone, she goes yes, you
know it gets all excited and finally gets ready.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
He's like, no, no, it's me.
Speaker 6 (25:13):
She's like, oh god, what a brilliant cast.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
That was great.
Speaker 5 (25:19):
It's like, yeah. It was notorious for coming out to
Fenway when he's you know, there's an obligation or something
so and staying for like an hour tops. And he
did that when his own grandson played there earlier this year.
He came said hello and left, I'm out. I'm out
(25:39):
after one at bat.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Peach of a guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, peach of a guy.
You know, but he was.
Speaker 5 (25:45):
He was an overachiever as a player, that's for sure,
speaking of got everything out of what he had just
left over from the last second.
Speaker 6 (25:52):
Speaking of moves that worked for daj Piccolo, Michael Strumsky,
end of the leadoff spot, hitting the ball the fence,
hitting doubles, walking perfect.
Speaker 5 (26:03):
And they have used him in exactly the way they should.
I mean, he's been a big platoon difference player most
of his career. Anyway, that's part of the problem. Like
you talked to me the other day about the Giants fan,
they played him every day. Eventually you got to decide
that dude can't hit the lefties.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
Man. Yeah, how do you use Jack kgleome when he
comes back?
Speaker 3 (26:24):
By the way, we give away Nick and Jakes right there,
great spot to go watch you the Chiefs game tonight.
Three locations enjoy great food on either side of State Line,
tying in carry out delivery Nick and Jakes Casey's home
for great food and sports. Find him online at Nickanjakes
dot com. We all assume they're gonna wait till the
rosters expand on September one, right, and then what do
(26:45):
you do with him, Danny?
Speaker 5 (26:46):
You wait for the exact moment you can predict that
Adam Fraser becomes himself again and then he plays for him. Okay, yeah,
because we know it at I mean, he's a great guy.
They brought him in. They brought him in for all
the reasons that were besides what he's doing, which is
(27:08):
hitting quite well. But you know, he's going to revert
to being a good guy to have around. Who's a
you know, six' eighty ops guy who can pop one
over the wall every now and then and can play
multiple positions. Right now, he's done much more than that
for the Royals, just like Mike U Schremsky good timing,
and I would say just say, well, that's a couple
(27:29):
of hitless ones in a row.
Speaker 6 (27:30):
Here he goes, Jack, grab a bat. We're selling the stock.
Speaker 5 (27:36):
And he'd get it. That's the thing I think he would,
you know, he'd get it and be around a pinchit
or whatever.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Has anybody gone and looked at video of his swing
now and what it was last year? Is there any
chance he's you know, totally reworked everything and.
Speaker 5 (27:51):
Found something thirty four?
Speaker 4 (27:53):
I don't think so. But I'm like, you know, I'm not,
I'm not.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
You guys are much more in tune to like, you know,
the you know, the what is it the dynamics or
the the moving parts of a swing. Like I'm no
swing doctor. Anyone's seen me play softball knows that he
noticed anything different.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
Ann Rogers wrote a story about three weeks ago.
Speaker 7 (28:14):
I want to say Adam Fraser was he did deal
with a banged up hand last year, but give even
give him that, I mean, just what he's doing this year.
Maybe it's just moving on from Pittsburgh.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
But he said he was happy that I talked to
him on Sunday. He was praised that I was, Hey,
I felt pretty good in Pittsburgh too, So yeah, uh,
you know, he's he's a good, solid ballplayer, but he's
they've gotten the best of him. So I would say
that it probably will be excellent timing. He'll, you know,
he'll this little media or shower will start to fade
(28:49):
and then then it's a good time to put Jack
back in there. But that if Jack falls in his
face again, then Fraser's around.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Well, I mean, listen, I'm not saying Kagi was the problem,
because that wouldn't it. But like he was one of
the guys that would swing in anything, and they're now
waiting on pitches, they're now drawing walks, they're a more
patient team. Like I mean, I do think that there's
a little bit of question, like, I'm not so sure
that he doesn't come up and just be a pinch hitter.
Speaker 5 (29:20):
Yeah that I don't think there's any mandate to get
him back in there. But if you were asking when
you wanted to get him back in there, that was
my answer. I don't know. I don't have any real
urgency that he has to play. This year's significantly, they've
got to win games. So I'm not just gonna, you know,
say rush him right back in there because what did
(29:41):
he what did he show us the first time that
he wasn't really ready, you know, and that maybe that
was just a thing. In the second time around, he'll
you know, be more like you know, some other guys
who have come up to like Holiday, when in his
second go around was much better.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
So I don't know, Yeah, I think it's in I
think it's entirely possible that he comes up and is
much better now that he's had a time to go
reset and do everything. I do expect him to be better,
but I don't think you just force him in there
and just give him a spot in the lineup because
things are working right now.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
Don't mess with what ain't broke right.
Speaker 5 (30:16):
And I you know, it's possible that Adam Fraser can
stay pretty hot for most of the rest of the year.
That is possible.
Speaker 6 (30:24):
The outfield isn't great, but it was better than the
one he left a month or four ago.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
Yes, it's it's significantly better than the one he left.
I completely agree with that one. So all right, we
got a little bit behind on the first one. Let's
take a break. We'll come back get into some college

Speaker 3 (33:41):
The college football coaches most likely to be fired?
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Odds. You know we did the managers.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
Let's do the college football coaches of just the power schools.
Brent Brennan of Arizona, State of Arizona four to one,
Brent Venables six to one from Oklahoma, Brent Priye from
Virginia Tech.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
One.
Speaker 6 (34:00):
Don't named Brent.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Don't be named Brent. Not a good day for Brent.
This is what I think is interesting. So I mentioned
Brent Bennables Ou six to one, also at seven to one,
Sam Pittman of Arkansas eight to one, Hugh Freeze of
Auburn twelve to one, Billy Napier of Florida. Then Mark
Stoops of Kentucky is up on the board at twenty
(34:23):
to one. Jeff Levy and Mississippi State twenty five to one,
Clark Lee of Vanderbilt forty to one. A lot of
SEC schools right that the coaches are up there, and
this is just to be the first one fire, but
it means that there are a lot of schools that
could be making changes, and if an SEC school is.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Firing you, that is a big ticket job.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
I bring it up because I think Kansas and k
State eventually you're gonna have to sweat through an SEC
school if you keep winning. Calling about Lanceliphold and Chris Climan.
Speaker 5 (35:00):
I think you're gonna have to sweat it. But I
think that in each case you probably should feel a
little bit better because these guys are established in those programs.
I don't think I think they're probably satisfied with not
just grabbing the extra dollar that were extra many dollars.
I'm sure it would be to be an SEC coach,
(35:22):
and you'd have far more security in your job where
you are. The rope would be, the leash would be
much lea you know less, So I don't think that
you'd have to sweat it that much. I think Lance
Leipold is probably really close to being a lifer for
Kansas if they'll have him, and I'm not so sure
(35:45):
helped that, And I'm not so sure Chris Clemon isn't
close to that too.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
Why would you put Lighthold because.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
He's older because he's older.
Speaker 6 (35:53):
That's all.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
Interesting.
Speaker 5 (35:56):
That's the only reason, just because he's older.
Speaker 6 (35:58):
It feels like the long term fit is better with
climbing and K State it's more of a natural fit.
But but I could see.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
Your buying online.
Speaker 6 (36:06):
He just I'm not really sure what it is, but
climbing just looks like the K State coach to me.
I mean, would the I'm not sure what that is.
Maybe where where he where he'd come from, but it
was a small place and K State kind of has
that feel. But for some reason, that just seems like
that's a case State coach and.
Speaker 5 (36:29):
Worry more about Iowa or something.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
That's where I was.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
I was I was not going to interrupt him, Danny,
I have more manners if you let him finish. And
I was going to say exactly the same thing though
that like, that's that's the fear is is does Kirk
Farents leave Iowa?
Speaker 4 (36:42):
You know?
Speaker 3 (36:43):
And I think that's the job you worry about if
your case State. I think it might be the only
job you have to worry about. But I do think
that there is an element of like if somebody comes
in and goes, we're going to give you a twelve
million dollars a year to coach Auburn, and you're like.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
I mean it's sixty million, honey.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Like, I know, I'm making six here at k State,
but I got sixty million in five years.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
If it works, great, they give us even more. And
if it doesn't, I got sixty million. And we go
to the beach house. Like I'm with you, I don't,
I don't listen.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
We're all older guys and we understand, like why we
work at eight ten. It's a great place to work,
you know, like that that that means.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
Something to you.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
The older you get, you're not just chasing what is
four extra dollars, you know, the job security, all that
kind of stuff. You like, I think you get it
more when you're older than if you're a twenty five
year old. That's you know, looking to take on the world.
But I also think that there, I think that the
sec may be dropping just gobs of cash and people
(37:46):
might listen.
Speaker 5 (37:47):
Yeah, but he also might do the math and say,
you know, I'm comfortable here. You know, look at Auburn.
What's what's the longest anybody who's been a coach there,
And yeah, you'll get the buyout, But is he going
to get a second contract. That seemed like super unlikely,
no matter unless you win the national championship and that's
not even secure. And you say, well, I'm gonna be
(38:07):
here for fifteen years more so.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Well that's where I actually will where I think Lightpolb
might be the other one, because I'm with you. If
Chris Climbs like I want to coach fifteen more years,
then yeah, don't go. But if you're like, I'm only
going to do five more years anyway, then I think
lance Lepoldt might be like, let's take the check. I
think he might be. Do I think either one of
them are leaving? No, I don't. I think they're both
gonna stay. But I just like I looked at the
(38:32):
lanscape of that. I'm like, when the sec jobs open up,
Domino's fall. Here's the other thing that I think is
interesting about this list. One fifty to one is the
longest odds right. There are eight coaches that they list
as one hundred and fifty to one, In other words,
the most dead secure in their job.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
Name me those eight coaches.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
Danny Kirby Smart Kirby Smart at George's One.
Speaker 5 (38:58):
Ryan Day, you say no, Dan.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
Ohio status is one. Yeah, I'm he just won a championship.
He's not going anywhere, I know.
Speaker 5 (39:05):
But they were like, we're going to fire him if
he doesn't win the championship.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
And he did, and now they're not going to touch.
Speaker 5 (39:10):
It, right, give me the rest because they'd be bad radio.
Speaker 4 (39:16):
Seriously, you can't swing a couple more.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
Times for the fun of it, Chris Cleman, No, Chris.
Speaker 4 (39:23):
Climbs down like eighty to one. You're terrible at this.
Speaker 5 (39:26):
Uh, the obvious one, I said, give him to me.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
I know.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
The obvious one's Kirby Smart, Ryan Date, Steve Sarkisian at Texas.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (39:33):
I don't even buy that.
Speaker 4 (39:35):
I do, I do, but I get where you're coming from.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
Marcus Freeman at Notre Dame, right, Dan Landing in Oregon,
Dabo Sweeney at Clemson, And I'm fine with all those.
Speaker 5 (39:52):
Right, Well, they're only fine with Dabo. I think I
think Dab.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
I think it could have been a little bit hotter.
I think if Dab, I think it'll get hot fast.
If Dabo isn't good this year, they're expecting him to
be back in the top five, and that's why they're
all happy. But if he's not, then I think that
can get a little sketch pretty quick. But there are
two more names better in this untouchable and let me
tell you who they're not. They're not Matt Campbell at
Iowa State, Kyle Whittingham, Brett Lashly at SMU, Lang Kiffin
(40:21):
at Old Miss, Kenny Dillingham at Arizona State, Josh Hipel
at Tennessee, Shane Biemer at South Carolina, Kalanie Sataki at
b YU, Jeff Brom Louisville. I'm going up the list
of where they get shorter. There are two more names.
It's ridiculous, but they have got both Bill Belichick and
Dion Sanders.
Speaker 4 (40:41):
Well that's the same odds as those other guys.
Speaker 5 (40:43):
That's just moronic. Could I be more blunt? It's stupid.
We've had a lot of stupid props here so far
on the I mean, I don't know what's dumber that
Matt Cotero or those two.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
I want to be clear.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
It is to the bene c which is the power
for Conference sixty seven coaches.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
Get fired first.
Speaker 3 (41:11):
So it's not will they get fired, it's they'd have
to be fired first.
Speaker 4 (41:15):
So that does make you go okay, well, wait a minute.
I mean, they're not gonna zero and four.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
They're not going to fire you know, Bill Belichick, but
they might fire Brent Vennablesting for so that is an
important thing. It's not just will they get fired, it's
about getting fired first. And so just gave a contract
to Deon Sanders. But I think both of those guys
are such you know, off the wall HighRes that I
(41:40):
think it could blow up fast with either one of them.
Deon Sanders could do something ridiculous at a press conference
and get fired. Bill Belichick's got his twenty four year
old girlfriend walking around in her go Go boots at practice,
Like you're telling me that can't go south. Like, I'm
fine if they're like one hundred to one, I just
don't think they should be next to Kirby Smart, Art,
(42:00):
Davo Sweeney, Ryan Day. Like if you want to put
them at one fifty to one, fine, but then then
how about two hundred to one for Ryan Day, two
hundred to one for Kirby Smart, Like I I just
thought that was I think it's interesting.
Speaker 4 (42:15):
On just how the math works that they that they
arrive at this.
Speaker 5 (42:18):
So, yeah, I do find it kind of interesting how
they arrive at it. But I don't get it at
all that those those what's wrong with this picture? Which
one of these doesn't belong.
Speaker 4 (42:30):
To the Yeah, Eli Drinkwitz.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
By the way, if you want to know the locals,
Eli Drinkwitz is at eighty to one.
Speaker 4 (42:41):
Where is trying to find no where to be?
Speaker 3 (42:46):
Landslip Bul's fifty to one.
Speaker 6 (42:49):
Climban's also eighty to one.
Speaker 3 (42:51):
Climb's eighty to one also, So that's the locals are
all in real good shape. So it's hey, yeah, I
know that's my guy, Fran Brown, Syracuse ten win season,
your first year. I mean, I don't know how he's
getting fired, But I digress. You know, by the way,
you like how Eli's doing the quarterback.
Speaker 5 (43:11):
Uh, I don't think it's in any way should be
looked at as a positive by Missouri fans. You'd much
rather have somebody grab the job by the.
Speaker 6 (43:21):
Throat, for sure.
Speaker 5 (43:22):
So if he can't make up his mind, that's not
a good sign. But why not go out there in
a game that you're supposed to mop the floor with
the opposition and see somebody play an actual game? So
I don't have a problem with the fact that he's
doing it that way if he truly doesn't know, but
it's it is an issue that he doesn't know which
guy's better.
Speaker 6 (43:43):
If that's the case, right.
Speaker 4 (43:44):
Danny, you're the man. We appreciate the time.
Speaker 3 (43:46):
We'll be listening to you and stand tomorrow morning as
you guys get a college game day going.
Speaker 5 (43:51):
Sounds good, always fun.
