Speaker 1 (00:04):
Welcome to the Danny Clinkscale, reasonably irreverent podcast, insightful and
witty commentary, probing interviews and detours from the beaten path.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Every once in a while, we have to bring out
the big dog. Yeah, oh God help us. It's time
for Danny Unleashed, sponsored by Eastern Roofing, where integrity matters.
Go to Eastern Roofing dot com for more.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Easton Roofing, easton the Song. Eastern Roofing now handling your
holiday lights as well, Danny.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
They are.
Speaker 5 (00:45):
We are going to deck the halls at my house.
Speaker 6 (00:47):
My wife had asking me about that the other day.
But in the context of you won't like this, I
think i'd like them up maybe right after Thanksgiving. I said, yeah,
that sounds about right to me, said other people preferred
a little sooner.
Speaker 7 (01:02):
But.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Maybe some forty five p Halloween night for me. So
as we're dark on Halloween, let's rock TikTok.
Speaker 5 (01:09):
There you go, I'm ready to go.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah. It's funny because my wife had a misunderstanding as
well when I had on the calendar meet with Joe
and it was, you know, with a couple of Corona
premieres involved, right and not She goes. Oh, I thought
he was coming over to do the lights.
Speaker 8 (01:28):
Like.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
No, First of all, Joe will get on a roof.
He's been on my roof, my mom's roof. I'm not
saying he's not. He'll climb a ladder. But no, we
were just you know, we're strategizing, is what we were doing.
And you know I found that, you know, a couple
of Corona premieres helps the strategy.
Speaker 6 (01:48):
I would say it does. Seeing as we do a
beer podcast together occasionally, I would say that that does work.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
Yeah, okay, okay, so you've got an excuse.
Speaker 6 (02:00):
Right, only only broadcasting I've ever done and probably will
ever do that involves beer that I've ever imbibed, while broadcasting.
Speaker 5 (02:11):
Cannot concur.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Cannot relate.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
That's not true. I have sat here with you.
Speaker 6 (02:20):
In the last maybe the last five minutes of a show.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
Okay, maybe, well, there's no law. It's on him.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
He can't be he can't be operating to be high
as a kite, Danny, as I know you often are.
I noticed you're not talking about the gone, just saying
I never I've never been drunk. I didn't say anything
having a pie of edibles so far in the past.
It's hard to see really. Oh yeah, and I can
(02:49):
have actually, definitely, I have never edibled. Really no, well
brownie back when that was done, but I didn't even
like that, didn't like the brownie. All right, your biggest
fan has a request? Can we can we take care
of your biggest fans request?
Speaker 5 (03:07):
Absolutely, Curtis, you looked it up? Do we have the video?
Have you seen the video?
Speaker 4 (03:12):
I have being to find it. Yeah, it was on
Pablo Torre's podcast. I was going to look for that
in the break and maybe have it for the second
or third segment. Yeah, it's part of a one hour
podcast and it's really hard to tell where it's at.
So I was gonna go look for it maybe in
this first time.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
There isn't a snippet when nobody's put it.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Up there, not that I've seen. There's stories, but none
of the stories seem to have a snippet. So okay,
all right, Well we.
Speaker 6 (03:37):
Have to wait for the request.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
Yeah, we gotta wait.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Okay, but I will tell you I was told I'm through.
We need Danny's take on this on this video. Give
the people.
Speaker 6 (03:48):
What they want always in favor of that. Well, let
me repair to my study and we'll do it four
to six to get four to six times per week. Yeah, really,
well right now this time of year, more like seven
or eight county college game day in this.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Yeah, okay, all right, good to know. I wasn't sure
what you were getting at. But yeah, thanks for clearing a.
Speaker 6 (04:12):
Lot of podcasts, a lot of appearances. I'm in demand.
Speaker 5 (04:15):
You are.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
You're a big deal, Danny. That's why we love that
you make time for us. Makes it makes us feel special.
Speaker 6 (04:21):
I actually spoke to a runners group this week, which
includes Bill Hancock. He wasn't there this week, but you're
there this time.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
You're not going to get near then.
Speaker 6 (04:32):
The nice bunch of guys and one of them, they
have so many interesting stories. But one of them I
did today for Kansas City profiles a man who has
run three hundred and six marathons. He has run a
marathon in every state in the Union and every country
in the world.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
Well, there's two.
Speaker 6 (04:55):
Hundred ninety six countries nine six yeah, one hundred and
ninety four in the United Nations and two that I
guess count Palestine and District of Columbia, maybe one other
something like that. Anyway, just about two hundred every continent. Antarctica,
Mount Efrist, there's a marathon on mount I once helped.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
I once helped a young lady memorize the capital of
every country in the world.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
That's fun. Does that count the same as like running
a marathon each one?
Speaker 6 (05:26):
Don't think so. But it's an accomplishment of sorts.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
Thank you. I appreciate ri Lanka.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
I didn't learn it. I just was the quizzer she
learned it. Thought, maybe you know something stuck. No, no,
literally nothing, okay, nothing stuck. But I have the I
have it recorded. If you'd like to hear it takes
almost ten minutes.
Speaker 6 (05:46):
You know, send it to me. I'd like to listen
to that, So, okay, i'll give it. I find things
like that interesting.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
Okay, as I as, I'll give you the.
Speaker 6 (05:54):
You know, there's about ten state capitals that are offbeat.
Speaker 5 (05:57):
And then when and then I want you to understand
that the girl is like ten.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
Well, I figured who it is, and I know it
wasn't recently so I heard this tale.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
It's one of my favorites.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
Capital of Oregon's ran U Salem.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (06:11):
I think that's one of the offbeat ones.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
I'm pretty strong.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
I bet I would minimum forty, but I think I
could push forty five to forty eight.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
I think I would.
Speaker 6 (06:20):
I would be I would be disappointed with more than two.
If I miss more than two, I'd be mad.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Really, yeah, that would.
Speaker 6 (06:29):
Because I once upon a time I knew them all.
I know that, So that would mean that, you know,
there's been slippage Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
I always have a problem with Kentucky because it's Lexington, right,
yeah it is. But I had it in my head
until quizzing children right that it was Frankfurt.
Speaker 6 (06:49):
You know, now I have my doubts right this second,
I think it's Lexington.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
I think there may.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Have even been a parental argument about which one it was.
I'm like, no, I think it's Frankfort or I had
it backwards the other.
Speaker 6 (07:03):
Way, right, So yeah, we'll find out in seconds, I'm sure.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Anyway, all right, Josh Simmons, the biggest story, let's start
there that keep it lighthearted. Feel this it even eclipses
the Roshie Rice return. My My question for you would
be by the way Lebo says, it's Frankfort.
Speaker 6 (07:29):
There you go. See, I was there for one. I'm
oh for one. Well, no, I had Salem.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
You're one for two.
Speaker 6 (07:37):
Yeah, one for two. Like I said, I'd be disappointed.
So there, I'm now I'm down to one miss.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Did you are you just saying yeah to whatever I say?
Because you didn't say so. He said Oregon, I said Salem.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
Oh, I knew it was Salem. That's why it was
a tricky one.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
That's why.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
And then I said Kentucky and I said Lexington. He
said yep, yeah, I know I was wrong. So I'm
down to one. Miss.
Speaker 6 (08:00):
I'm not happy. I said I wouldn't be happy. I
didn't say i'd do it. I just said I'd be unhappy.
I've you disappointed in myself?
Speaker 5 (08:08):
Okay, Okay.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
The Josh Simmons situation, to me, I think where the
chiefs need to be. Look, he's got to get whatever's
going on figured out right right, and they've got to
support him and help them in any way that they can.
But I think as far as the public side of things, well,
you can go to about Wednesday of next week, and
then at that point you're creating the drama by not
(08:33):
laying out what it is. This is a public figure
who works in the public eye, and the questions are
not going to stop as long as it's there. There's
no timeline or any kind of, you know, conclusion given
as to what's going on.
Speaker 6 (08:49):
Well, Also, it doesn't help when the face of the
franchise is so uncomfortable talking about any issue that is
outside of the realm football. Andy Reid looks like he's
going to have a stroke when he's talking about stuff
like this. He does. He's so uncomfortable.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
I think that's strong.
Speaker 6 (09:11):
But I think I used this analogy before. He looks
like a man who walked in the house and been
cheating on his wife, and his wife said, I've got
the goods.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
I don't think it's that bad, Oh I do. I
agree that he's not comfortable and is not polished. Like
if you would read a transcript and they would write
this transcript the way he actually says it, you'd be like,
what is going on here?
Speaker 5 (09:42):
Because I'll give you another one.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
I thought Matt Naggi's when he got hit with a
question about the Tennessee Titans was one of the bigger
word salads I've ever heard.
Speaker 6 (09:52):
I mean, And finally, the word salad is a word salad.
Andy Reid is like he can barely spit out a word.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
I mean, but I think that's because he doesn't want
to sound like Matt Naggy did. Matt Naggy just started
in four different directions and kept stopping and you know,
and listen, we're trying to do. You know, when you
get that situation, you know, I was like, I can
play it. I actually I know I heard it. We
know we'd have to go dig it out. Because Curtis,
I said, do we have that one? And he goes.
(10:22):
He didn't really say he goes. I couldn't figure out
what he was saying. I go, I know, that's fine,
because you're right. That's the only reason I thought it
was of note was because it was such a like.
I think he was like surprised to get the question.
Speaker 6 (10:36):
I just don't get it. You know, for instance, Matt
nagg all you have to say is I'm concentrating one
hundred percent of being the offensive coordinator for the Kansas
City Chiefs and anything else you want to talk about
is outside that parameter. I mean, how hard is it
to say something like that?
Speaker 5 (10:50):
It's not right.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
But I think if you are, if you're honest, well
you can be like do you think he wants. Do
you think, based upon what you heard, Matt Naggy is
just sitting back, trying to do a real good job,
as youc and feeling pretty comfortable that he's probably the
next coach of the Chiefs whenever Andy Reid hangs it
(11:12):
up and that's good enough for him. No, No, So
I saw a guy who wanted it to be known
that he'll listen, which is interesting because Andy Reid has
always said and he has even he was asked the
question before Matt Naggy and said, look, Steve, you know,
(11:34):
anywhere guys if they can go, I got I support
them one hundred percent.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
And he's always done that.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
He's always you know, helped I think, you know, put
in words for guys to get them jobs. So you know,
I don't know. It was just surprising how he wasn't
real polished on it.
Speaker 6 (11:54):
But also it would indicate that you're not prepared hair
that you're surprised that somebody asked. I mean, I know
you get comfy here with the rugged listen to city media, but.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
Yeah, but I don't think it's all over the place.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
There are a couple of things where people are like,
you know, like it's like Calaham is fired. Some of
the top names are and Matt Naggy's name is there,
and in most other towns, nobody cares, except for if
you're in the town where one of those names currently
is employed. So I would think that somebody said something
to him, But maybe he thought it was gonna be
(12:32):
softball city and no one was going to ask.
Speaker 5 (12:33):
Did I ask that question? I think I might have.
Speaker 6 (12:35):
I don't know, you're one of a handful might have.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Well, I didn't hear Pete Sweeney asked the exact same
question last week, you know, so I you know, I
know it was on my list and I had it
in my head. I don't remember who it was, but
it was gonna get asked one way or another. But yeah,
I thought it was. I don't hold it against him.
I mean, I think he's a fine head coach. Is
(13:01):
he a great head coach?
Speaker 5 (13:02):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
It's tough to be considered a great head coach unless
you have a great quarterback. And he had Mitch Trubisky,
who sucks, and he got him to the playoffs twice,
winning record twice. I thought he did a with what
he had to work with.
Speaker 6 (13:15):
I mean, there was no disaster there.
Speaker 5 (13:17):
Would you want the if you were him, would you
take the Titan job?
Speaker 8 (13:20):
No?
Speaker 5 (13:21):
I wouldn't either. I'm waiting.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
I mean, he made a bunch of money as the
head coach of the Bears already offensive. He's making a
lot of money on offensive coordinators now make a lot
of money.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
He doesn't make as much as side What do we
see Spags is at six and he's the highest paid
coordinator in football. I think my guestate would be Naggie
somewhere in three to four.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Right.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
That's fine, pretty good gig with not a lot of pressure.
Speaker 6 (13:46):
Right, especially because you really are not under the gun
or under the microscope that much, because nobody really thinks
you're the offensive coordinator, right, they think you're in this
offensive assistant. So I think it's a great position to
be in. And he's I think he could even feel
(14:07):
that he did a reasonably good job with the Bears
made to play. He's a playoff head coach and just
pick he's a double.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Dooint away from being a playoff winning head coach, and.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
Just you know, picked your spots. That doesn't look like
a spot. It looks like one of the unless one
of the worst ones unless you think something about the
if you have, unless you think the quarterbacks really good.
Speaker 5 (14:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
Vic Fangio, when offered the Bronco job, had to take it.
Like if Steve Spagnella gets offered a job and he
wants to be a head coach, he's got to take
it right. I mean, I don't think you know, you're
thirty six in the hot shot and got a quarterback
that's not retired anytime soon, and you're in o C.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
You can wait.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Ben Johnson Detroit, he was offered gigs before, you know,
after going into twenty going into twenty four, turned him down,
coached the Lions another year and then got the Bear
said coaching job. Do you think Matt Naggie will be
in demand? I think the end of this year and
for the next couple of years, I think.
Speaker 6 (15:09):
He's in demand. I don't think he's at the top
of the list. I don't. I don't think he'll be
at the top of the list each year because he
is perceived as well. He's a coach who got fired,
you know, without having great success. Like we said, we
think he did a pretty good job. I think we
evaluate with what he had to work for. That's a
pretty good job.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Don't you think the narrative, with the fact that Trubisky
has not worked for anybody else, that his stature has gained.
I'm not saying he's back up to be in the
top candidate. I agree with you on that, but his
stature has grown since Trebist no one else has done
anything with Trubisky either.
Speaker 6 (15:46):
I've yeah, yeah, I think it's grown. But I still
think each year there will be one, two, three hot
assistants who are going to be ahead of him. They
turned down the jobs falls to him, So I think
he'll be in you know, the top five, six, seven,
something like that.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
What if the Chiefs keep ripping off thirty plus a game,
they finished the year number one scoring, number one yardage,
what does that do?
Speaker 6 (16:10):
I don't know how much it does. I think people
have probably already made their evaluation of Matt Nagy. And
I also think he gets he does get ding because
he's not really given the full credit. He doesn't get
the full credit score there, you know, and it isn't
like and also this is in his first year back.
If this is his first year back and the Chiefs
(16:32):
have been languishing on offense the last couple of years
and then he came back, and this year they took
off like they might and look like they have a
little bit I think, maybe to get more credit. But
he was he presided over, you know, last year.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Yes, but I think, you know, I think all things
will be taken into account and it'll be like, Okay,
he got all the talent and now they're back looking
as good as ever. So yeah, I think how it
plays the rest of this year will affect how how
much he's coming in. I'm with you, I don't know
that he'll ever rise to being you know, Ben Johnson,
(17:07):
the lack of failure is more attractive than the experience,
even though the experience is probably a better thing to have.
But I think your point about you know, when I
think back to Belichick, was anybody else going to hire
Belichick after Cleveland other than Bob Kraft wh knew him
the Jets Bill Park Bill Park, But Bill Parcels and Bobcraft,
(17:27):
two guys that knew him, were the only two guy
one like he was. He was being fought over by
Jerry Jones down in Dallas.
Speaker 6 (17:34):
No, I think I think Naggy's probably about in that category.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
Which which is why.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
He maybe was kind of flustered because Bargonzi being the
general manager there and having a relationship with him, he
may think this is the best chance and I can
work with this guy. Are we are cut from the
same group, We look for the same kind of players.
He knows what I want, he knows what the system
is supposed to be about, so this is my best
chance to succeed.
Speaker 6 (18:00):
Well, he probably ought to act quickly then, because Pargonzi
might be gone soon. Well, the way they operate down there.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
I agree, and but I'm just I'm just playing the
devil's advocate of what he may see about it.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
But I don't.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
I don't like I don't like the ownership there, so
I wouldn't I try to wait, And I don't know
that I love cam Ward.
Speaker 6 (18:21):
I guess I have to reserve. I don't think he
I don't love him either. I'm not going to write it.
I'm not writing him off yet. And I think he
was just you know, now, every year somebody is going
to get drafted super high, and usually two or three
quarterbacks are going to be no matter what. And every year,
because people desperately need a quarterback, half the teams usually
really need a quarterback, and right now is the only
(18:43):
time when you have a high draft choice that you
can get one. So you've got to get the pick
of whatever's there this time. And I don't think that
last year was a great situation, so uh And also
the division looked crummy and now it looks better. So
that's another thing reason to say.
Speaker 5 (19:00):
Eh, yeah, mehh yeah, because.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
The cults are a lot better, jags are better, etc.
Speaker 3 (19:08):

Speaker 9 (20:13):
Clark, all right, the Nick and Jakes end of the
Hour answer.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
By the way, rip Ace Frehley, Danny. I don't know
your thoughts are on Kiss.
Speaker 6 (20:28):
But I'm not a big Kiss fan, but I think
that Ace Frehley was a good player.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
And good bass play guitar player or guitar guitar player.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, and whatever you liked about him, They
knew how to put on a show.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
People don't know what you're talking about that.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
Yes, well you had a couple tackle Guard, you had
a couple of decent solo records.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
I listened to Ace Frailey passing away yesterday at age
seventy four, Formative in the Rush, my favorite band that's
on their in their documentary both Kenny Lee and Alex
sliveson talking about how they learned on their first major tour.
They toured with Kiss and a C d C. That
would have been hell with a show to see in
seventy seven, How to be Rush?
Speaker 5 (21:09):
A c DC and Kiss? Who was the headliner?
Speaker 4 (21:11):
A C d C. Okay Kiss And then this goes
there's a shot of Bond Scott back when he was
the lead singer. Face. He goes, we're doing the tool
with the Kiss and the band called Rush maybe I've
heard of and I'm like, cool, love to go back.
Speaker 6 (21:26):
That could be a weird show. I mean that that
could be one where you know, people went to see
Rush and then they're out. They were they were they
were just coming out, Yeah right, I know, but they
had I'm sure some dedicated fans and that that was.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
The when Guns n' Roses was opening for what Aerosmith,
and it was like people were like that was happening
on that one and They're like, all right, you get
they got to get out. We need somebody else in here.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
I was on the floor at Kemper for Rush when
Mister Big opened for them, and I looked something hit
my leg. I was wearing shorts. Was in the middle
of summer, and look down it was a guitar pick.
The guitar player had flicked a pick out. I guess
someone saw that I had done that. And so when
the lights came up intoin shows and guy goes, hey, man,
did you get that guitar pick? I go yeah, and
he goes, I'll buy it from you, and I go.
I had a couple of guys I worked with who
(22:15):
are Big Big, the guitar players big, And I go, okay, cool,
and a couple of my guys I worked with were
huge fans of them, and him in particular, And I goes,
I want to kind of give his friends of mine,
but let me let me think about it, and then
after Rush is done, I'll let you know. He goes,
we're heading.
Speaker 6 (22:30):
Out now we've seen mister Big.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
You're heading out now. He goes, yeah. I go, you
need this more than I do, so I just he
goes twenty bucks. I go sold, like, I can't believe
you game to see mister Big. You got Rush coming up,
and you're we're gone.
Speaker 9 (22:46):
We're outy anyway, Nick and Jakes into the hour answer
back to sports only three pitchers older than Max schures
Are started and won a postseason game.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
I asked for any of the three, all of men
in the last thirty years, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Roger
Clemens forty three years, seventy one days for Houston and
O five.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Okay for Orlando, Nope, Orlando Hernandez, No, he actually was.
It's just because exactly yeah him give me credit on
that twenty three when.
Speaker 5 (23:23):
He was like forty six, when he got to the bigs.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
One of them happened in O six, when of them
happened in ninety five, six left N O six America League,
Jamie Moyer Detroit Tigers. Wells Kenny Rogers forty one years,
three hundred and forty six days and for Cleveland in
nineteen ninety five. Right hander or Sizer about the same
(23:50):
era though Martinez Dennis Martinez forty one years, one hundred
and fifty six days. Oldest Royal nineteen or twenty fourteen
thirty five years, one hundred and ninety nine days Jeremy Guthrie,
Game three of the twenty fourteen World Series.
Speaker 5 (24:05):
Oldest Royal to start and win.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Start and win a postseason game is Jay Guts.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
To get both of those. Is he the oldest to
start and the oldest to win? Or is somebody been
older to do one of the others?
Speaker 4 (24:15):
May that may be there may be one didn't know
you knew? Yeah, I didn't check it out. I'm interested
now I'll probably do that ext.
Speaker 6 (24:21):
I'm surprised he lasted long enough and said game to
get the win.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
Went six or nine? Went five? Five innings?
Speaker 5 (24:28):
Which game was it?
Speaker 4 (24:29):
Game three of the twenty fourteen World Series won by
the Royals in San Francisco. Three two?
Speaker 5 (24:34):
Ye, wasn't that the They lost Game one?
Speaker 4 (24:41):
The Royals right Bumgarter shut him down. Game two they
came out in one. Yeah, it was game you and
I rat.
Speaker 5 (24:48):
And then game so Game three that was Billy Butler
stealing the base and given the.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
Room book, it might have been might have And then
they were up in game four.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
That's what I'm like, you know what they're going to
do this? I actually do this.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
They were there.
Speaker 6 (25:01):
No, I watched that game in a seaside bar in
San Francisco because I watched you fly fly. Oh No,
I watched game two in the bar.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
That's what it was.
Speaker 6 (25:12):
I had to fly ahead. I watched Game two in
the bar.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
You probably didn't have to. But travel Day, Danny Klinkskin.
Speaker 6 (25:17):
No, there was, there was no way.
Speaker 5 (25:20):
It wasn't like a travel Day.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Game four had the magic or the memorable moment of
Jason Vargas thinking he'd walked to score around and realizing
it wasn't and he stopped, and like, from that moment on,
the game just fell apart. Now, yes, that was the moment,
but it does seem like, you know what there was
if you believe in mystic forces. It was Vargas trotting
down to first base thinking he had a World Series Rivy, No,
(25:45):
you just struck out.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
But they were up to and rolling and they're like, oh,
it's just party time.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
And then they went on.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
Even Vargi's drawn walks and then yeah, down I went, Uh,
just give away some Nick and Jakes either side of
the state line. Nick and Jake's always a good idea
for great food and sports in Kansas City, where it's dining,
carry out or delivery. Nick and Jake's Kansas City's home

Nick and Jakes. Visit them at Nick and Jakes dot com.
(26:12):
Three locations for you to enjoy great food and a
great look at the game.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Danny, find that clip if you want to pay.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Yes, okay, so let's give the people what they want,
all right, then we'll double back around.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
So this is apparently the clip that's making the rounds is.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
It's on Pablo Tory's podcast, and the clip is behind
the scenes shots of the production meeting for a show
last year on the NFL Network called Coach, in which
Bill Belichick and some other people kind of break down
games that are coming up. And they're around a table
and they're looking at a slide on a wall screen,
(26:53):
on a screen of some graphics you know what the
Cowboys and Browns have to do, blah blah blah blah blah.
And Belichick's girlfriend, Jordan Hudson was there, and I don't
think she was too terribly thrilled with the graphics crew.
Speaker 9 (27:10):
This feels like, how many people does it take discernelight
bulb situations?
Speaker 4 (27:13):
Editors at NFL Films did something and then turned it
around to their guys and is that and the other thing.
It's like there's a lot of salary to pay for this.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Four Flora.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
It's hard to tell what she's sayings I can't believe
they have four times graphic people for four full time
graphics people. And Belichick goes, they can't do blank, they
can't do s.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
What do you think, Danny, the people, the people have
asked for this cut they want you.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
Well, it's just another layer and a bad cake. I mean,
it's just it's just awful. Whole thing's awful. It's you know,
I almost I've got I know she's.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
Twenty four or whatever. Maybe she's twenty five now or
whatever it is. And what was she was she twenty
two when he started dating or whatever?
Speaker 4 (28:06):
I think she was.
Speaker 6 (28:07):
Yeah, I think she's mean twenty two.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
I've never heard her speak until then, and I'm struck
by how much like a child she sounds.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
Yeah, I see, you know, I mean like, I'm sorry
that sixty minutes one whenever they did.
Speaker 5 (28:21):
I didn't see that one. Yeah, I heard about it,
but I didn't bother to watch he.
Speaker 6 (28:24):
Was it more annoying in that one than she was
right there. So I've almost gotten to the point where
I'm feeling sorry for Belichick. I'm like, would you just not?
Speaker 5 (28:35):
No, would not?
Speaker 6 (28:37):
I can you wind the climb? I'm getting I'm getting there.
I'm not maybe not there yet, but this is so pathetic.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
With all his like you know, just holier than now
crap and not being willing to give a straight answer
to legitimate football questions and basically, you know, using his
stature in the game to like ridicule people.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
No, I'm not going to feel sorry for him. It's
just so bad.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
I mean, is a good defensive coordinator that rode Tom
Brady to his career because he is a dismal failure
and seems like everything else in his life.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
The speculation, I think Tory was making it as well
on the show that the reason why how that clip
got out is that the graphics people, the people behind
the scenes didn't know she was going to be involved
and they were a little bit irritated by it. So
that maybe why how that thing got out oops leaked it. Gosh,
what happened.
Speaker 6 (29:28):
She shouldn't be involved, right, I mean a joke things,
it's not even a joke. It's just like it's a
theater of the absurd, is what it is. It's one
of those things you always heard that Okay, you know Bill,
Bill has that public face he does, but when you
get to know him, he said you know he's a
good guy, and he's kind of funny and you know,
(29:49):
just sort of a regular guy. Well that all that
narrative totally went out the window, So you're just an idiot.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
I would agree. I would agree. Let's think it.
Speaker 3 (29:59):

way better. That makes me happy, No said no one ever.
Speaker 5 (32:17):
Yeah right right now.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
You know you be that guy that everyone else.
Speaker 5 (32:20):
Goes, be the man, be jonesy mcjones.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
Here you go.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
We'll make him keep up with you. Danny Missoo road trip.
Zeu's got a road trip.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
They have no idea what to expect.
Speaker 6 (32:34):
Apparently they do, really, because when asked about this this week,
this is no reflection on Eli Drinkwitz. I think he's
doing a fine job. He's elevated in my view, and
I think the Missouri is is here probably to stay.
But anyway, he did himself no favors this week by
being asked about that the fact that this is the
(32:55):
first time Missouri has played on the road this year.
He said, we went. The team even took a practice
trip to linden Wood and Saint Charles. We went on
the road in August. We know what to expect. We're
not going to have that as an excuse. Yeah, hopping
on a bus to go over to Saint Charles to
play a little scrimmage with linden Wood gets you're ready
(33:15):
for Auburn at night in the SEC. That's not even
apples and oranges. It's like, that's like you're reading a quote.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
Do you think there was a twinkle in his eye
and a smile on his face when he said that.
Speaker 6 (33:28):
That quote doesn't look like, you know, one of those.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
I see a smile on his face, and.
Speaker 6 (33:35):
I hope, so you know, I hope went to linden Wood. Well,
then if I then I'll If that's the case, then
if then the guy riding the story did him a
disservice because he should have said he said sardonically, yeah,
I will agree, ready to go. So anyway, I think
this is going to be a tough game. Auburn should
(33:56):
be a little bit better. They've lost all three SEC games,
but they've all and close by most accounts. They have
two NFL pass rushers. They have a transfer quarterback who
was highly thought of I think this would be I
don't think this is just a People would perceive it
as a bad loss. I won't it would be perception
(34:20):
wise because they're alling three in the SEC. But I
think it's a good win if they win it. This
is a dog and a half or half, and that's
you need to know. I know, so I think this
is a thisould be a good, tough football game. And
Missouri goes there and wins, I'll be impressed. I will.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
I will too, and I do think they will because
I think they showed their medal against Alabama and in
taking that as far as they took it. Because I
do think Alabama is pretty good. I think I don't
know that they're ready to lay the number the' laying
against Tennessee, but but I think they're pretty good and
I I kind of expect them to to get it
(34:59):
done against Auburn. I'm not going to be shocked if
Auburn wins this game. We're gonna look at it and say,
Auburn almost won three tough games against three good opponents
that are a lot better than their record. Yes, and
I will agree with all of it, but I also
think it's it's quite possible that Alabama is a top
four team and Missouri just went toe to toe with him,
(35:19):
and Missouri is definitely a top twelve team and belongs
in the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (35:23):
Well, I'll say this about the Alabat I think Missouri
showed great toughness in that game. That game all day long,
looked like Alabama was going to win, and you know,
they hung in there, and it almost looked a couple
of times like the game was getting out the gate.
So exactly, I think they did a good job of
hanging in there. You know, they didn't have the ball,
They didn't have the ball very much.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
They didn't.
Speaker 6 (35:42):
So that's my concern here is that Auburn has played
good defense so far this year and Missouri wasn't great
in that game against Alabama on offense, and Alabama had
struggled some against all struggled a lot against the run,
and they didn't really run the football that much Hardy
only average four yards to carry. So I guess that
would be my concern, and that if Missouri loses this game,
(36:04):
it's going to be twenty three to twenty or twenty
one seventeen or something like that. If they score, I
think they win I mean, if they get up in
the upper twenties, I like their chances, but I think
there's going to be a real dog fight and.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
Maybe, you know, fumble the ball into the end zone. Also,
it depends something crazy that never happens. Also, it depends
on whether the Auburn team likes their coach. You know,
is this a rally around the coach or that they
not care about Hugh Freeze because he could get fired
if they lose this game. Absolutely so, I don't know
(36:41):
the situation. I don't know whether they like Hugh Freeze
as a coach, but this would be a rally, you know,
let's win one for the coach type of thing, because
they got to be able to hear what's going on.
But you don't know, so many guys now may have
almost zero relationship with Hugh Freeze. Oh he's just the kaya.
Speaker 6 (37:00):
He's just the coach of the team I came to
because they gave me seven hundred grand. Yeah, so you know,
there may be no attachment whatsoever.
Speaker 5 (37:07):
There may be no attachment anywhere anymore.
Speaker 6 (37:09):
True enough, although there are some guys who you know,
every football teams have so many players now that usually
there's a pretty big amount who've been there most of
the time, if not all the time. I mean, maybe
not the top players. Maybe you know, half the starters,
might pete transfers. But there's a lot of guys on
the team who were recruited by the coach, been there
(37:31):
with the coach. They are the teammates of these hired guns,
and so maybe they do have real affection for coach
drink or whatever. In this case, Upreeze has not been
a long time coach there, so I don't know. I
don't know the dynamics. If you pointed a gun at
me and said all your money, who you're going to pick,
(37:51):
I'd pick Auburn in the game.
Speaker 5 (37:53):
Did Penn State make a mistake firing James Franklin.
Speaker 6 (37:57):
I can't say they made a mistake. They just got
two horrible losses. Their fan base probably is just sick
and tired of never winning a big game. He's a
good coach, so what I have fired him? Probably not,
But I can understand the fatigue for a fan base
that's probably.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Not.
Speaker 6 (38:19):
Probably, they definitely think they should be better than they are.
I mean, Penn State has been consistently good generally, but
they just haven't had the same kind of highs that
they did back in their heyday, and time after time
the last few years, especially that when they've gotten better
and better under Franklin. Just every time they've had a
(38:41):
game that's been a big game, they lose and then
they unfortunately in this case, they lost a tough game
against a really good opponent and then dolloped on a
bad loss to a bad opponent consecutively. So I can
understand the frustration. I heard you say it. They're definitely
be a couple of money people who said that's it, Yeah,
(39:02):
no more, no more cash because they have a high
paid roster.
Speaker 5 (39:07):
Are they more likely.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Ten years from now to be considered Nebraska or Ohio State?
Speaker 6 (39:15):
Well, they not Ohio State, but I think they're going
to be better than Nebraska. Why the part of the country.
Proximity to talent, Yeah, proximity talent, huge resources, gigantic fan base.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
Huge resources. I mean when I talk to people up there,
they're like, I said, is there a sugar Daddy? And
they're like, you know, like like the Cody Campbell or
Mark Cuban. Suppose he's been writing big checks to Indiana.
Maybe going right along with Signetti a getting things going.
They're like, well, I mean, no, they're a guy like that.
Speaker 6 (39:50):
No, but they have they filled in one hundred and
ten thousand seat stadium every week.
Speaker 3 (39:55):
So does Nebraska and Matt roon hundred ten. They one
hundred and ninety five, and.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
I don't think they're more than eighty.
Speaker 5 (40:02):
Google that real quick. When your curtis Nebraska capacity.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
I just like to know, just set the record out
for I know you're not trying to, but but you know,
Matt Ruhle said, well, there are other programs who have
tens of millions of dollars more in there and their roster.
Speaker 5 (40:16):
I'm interested to see if we can get.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
There eighty five four fifty.
Speaker 5 (40:19):
Eight, right, Okay, it's eighty five.
Speaker 6 (40:21):
So they got them by twenty five, you know, which
is a lot of that's a lot of money.
Speaker 5 (40:24):
Google Penn State.
Speaker 6 (40:25):
Would you think they're like one hundred and eighty or
something because they keep expanding They one o six five? Yeah,
there you go.
Speaker 5 (40:32):
No, I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (40:35):
I know who I think James Franklin would be. For
his sake, he should go to a good not.
Speaker 5 (40:41):
Arkansas to Maryland.
Speaker 6 (40:43):
Yeah, something like that. Win a bunch of games fan
base is happy you're happier. I think that would I
think that'll be good for him.
Speaker 5 (40:50):
Do tooh do two. Danny, You're always good for us.
We appreciate it.
Speaker 6 (40:54):
