Speaker 5 (01:51):
Well, integrity didn't matter recently in my yard because somebody
came along and besconded with the Eastern Roofing sign and
put their own holiday lights sign and like they did it,
you're kidding me. Nope, And I took it right out.
It's in a dumpster somewhere. So if you were the
person who put.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Up, why wouldn't you have Did you just have a
phone number? Yeah, I would attract on the number and
I would I would have showed him.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
It was technically we live in a corner. You could
technically say it was community property. It's there's some gray
area there, you know this right next to the sidewalk.
We live right at the corner, so it probably isn't
our property technically, but but it's it's in our purview.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
So what a competitive field the holiday lights?
Speaker 5 (02:41):
That's right, But they were trying to take credit for
my lovely holiday lights.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
I get a lot of compliments on my on my lights.
I do too. One of my friends said, hey Clark,
and when he's you know, hey good, he goes hey Griswold. Maybe.
I was like, that's the compliment I wanted. There you go,
I go, and you know what, it's about half of
what I wanted. My wife nixt a whole bunch of
the things that I wanted to do. Although I have
wonder over next year we'll add to the equation. So
(03:08):
we got that.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
I've seen people be a little competitive.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
I that's me.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Yeah, No, I mean I think some people have up
their game around us.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
All right, yeah, yeah, I've got some people. I was like, oh, okay,
that's what we're doing now, Okay, I'll see you in
twenty six, kiddos. Curtis is with us, not really, he's
an eighty A fundraising where what do you get your
eye on? Now? Curtis?
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Actually somebody brought by. I didn't say who it was
or what they welcome to uptown a two lane hooded sweatshirt.
So if you're interested in that, I will bring it
back for you.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
I always like a good hoodie. Is it a patty
size or they bring a nine medium.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
It's it's a pretty good size. It's powder blue. It's
that two lane blue and has a really cool logo
in the front. So I'll bring that back.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Why would I say milver it two lane was green.
They're they're they're greenham they are, They're the green Wave.
But their secondary color is like blue and they wear
a lot of because they know the powder blue look
is hot, right, so they wear a lot of powders.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
I got you, I got you.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Yeah, it happens. What actually, what noticed, what caught my
eye is that they've now sold both of the Salvador
Perez autographed chest protectors, so two.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
When I got here, I was thinking, I was gonna
tell you at the end of the show, I was
gonna be like, dude, if they're still one of those,
I was thinking about, I'll take it over art and
frame I know he'll frame it up nice. Michael do
a great job over there. I was like, that would
be pretty cool to have Salvador Press chess protector. And
now it's gone. So I moved too slow.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Now they might have more, and that's the I think
they only had it too up there because that was
the space they had. So I'll check with the brand
and see if they have another one of those bad
boys and we'll see how that goes. Though. Uh Still,
the thing I like the most is the is the
the Blue King's otis birds on Jersey. That's if I
could grab one thing out of this room, that might
be it, because that is pretty sweet. It's legit. It's
(05:04):
you know, you don't what real NBA jersey looks like.
It's got the name under the number like they used
to wear. I love that thing. Anyway. I am an

Great stuff. They do a fantastic job. Brad and this
team are awesome. So it's a great place for you
to do some holiday shopping. Danny Klinkscale is well, this
little Danny unleashed here in the program.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
I wonder if they have a Laine Thomas Jersey excited, No,
but I think it's a you know, I'm not gonna
get giddy about it, but I think if they find
a left handed bat to go along with that right
handed bat, I think it's a worthy signing and a
reasonable price. Guys had a great season in the major leagues.
(07:42):
It fits in with a nice older profile we thought
the Royals had and the fact that he really walks.
But besides that, he's showing power, he showing speed. He's
a reasonably good outfielder. So as the lesser half of
a platoon. I think that would be okay.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
So the Royals today the lead is Lane Thomas is signed. No,
but that's what you led with.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
No, they already said. Curtis already mentioned mikel Garcia.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
No, I thought I said that's your thoughts, like, well,
Lane Thomas, it's.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
Like he'd already said that you can get an item
from Mike kel Garcia celebrating his signing. No, the extension
is far and away the bigger news.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Okay, what's your thoughts on it?
Speaker 5 (08:23):
Well, I don't we don't know the money.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Fifty seven and a half with incentives that can take
it ten. I didn't see that the sixty one? Is
it out?
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Let me look at me? Just over eighty almost eighty?
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Yeah, if he hits all his incentives and the option year,
it would take it to eighty. So it goes from
eleven to fourteen. Is that what it is? Curtis?
Speaker 5 (08:42):
Yeah, that sounds about.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
I'm not sure, yearly, but the story from Amy Roders
just said the escalators could send it up to almost
eighty five. So I just said over eighty in my
sports center.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Yeah. The me let me also specifics on it. I'll
put it. Well anyway, at that, I don't think. I
think it's just a matter of doing the math. I
don't think.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
Eleven to fourteen is fine.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Club option and escalators eighty five, So we go from
it's five for fifty seven and a half guaranteed, right,
I have that right, and then it goes then it
would go to six to eighty five, which would be yeah,
fourteen fourteen fourteen something fourteen one, right, So I think
(09:28):
that's reasonable.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
I think there's you know, you want to have the
player has to get something, and there's some level of risk.
He did have a bad season just two years ago,
but he was excellent last year. He's a good defender,
so even if his offense drops off a little bit,
he's still a viable left side of the field player,
(09:50):
So I'm fine with it.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
He's a gold Glof third baseman and pretty good short too, right,
so if Bobby goes down then you know needs a break,
You've still got a guy who can play short, so
he is more value than just his offense. But you know,
I mean I do think that I think it would
have been if you had gobs of money you wait
a year to sign him. But I think this is
(10:15):
kind of like I don't think Dyton Moore would have
signed this. I think he just wanted to see one
more year of offense the way he performed last year.
I think this regime is more willing to say the
analytics tell us he's going to be that, let's try
to get in now because we can save some money
if we do it now. He gets guaranteed money now.
(10:36):
But there's a little bit of risk because, like you said,
he's had one top shelf offensive.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Year, right, and he increased across the board more power,
more walks, less strikeouts. So you know, look at Lane
Thomas for instance. You know, MIKEL. Garcia's career profile could
look like his, which is one great season, a couple
other decent ones, a couple of terrible ones, although plagued
(11:03):
by injury.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
So yeah, there's a little bit of risk.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
There, but it's not It's a lot of money for
the Royals, but they could be saving Moise. If he
runs out that same year again next year, then he
would have been a twenty million dollar player.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
He is. His season this past year is already better
than any season Lane Thomas has ever had.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
Yes, my ops standards, right, a little bit less power. Yeah,
he was in there. It was about to say his
best ops Layine Thomas is seven to ninety something.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
For the season. One to twenty three was the ops
plus for mikeel Garcia this past year, one fifteen in
that twenty eight homer season back in twenty three for
Laye Tims. But I don't mind Lane Thomas. I mean,
you know what, what you like it or don't.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
I do like it.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
I do like it because I think but the rest
of it is up to the Royals. If he's their
your everyday player, I think I don't think a little.
I think I think he's a platoon.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
He's the platoon for cag leone right the everyday players
to be determined, yes, or he's the platoon with Michael Massey,
like I do think. I think one of the things
we need to understand is, and Ranny detailed this when
we were talking on Monday night. To get out of
the way of the Chiefs are podcasts that go try
to find right handed bats. Right. When they outlawed the shift,
(12:25):
it made the left handed bats much more valuable, and
so it's now hard like the quantity of at bats
that are now taken up by left handed hitters has
gone way up because the shift had really taken away
a lot of their effectiveness. Well it's not there, and
so left handed bats are around, and so there just aren't
that many. I mean, just look at what's available, Like
what knocks you on your on your ass about any
(12:48):
of the right handed outfield bats, like when you go
through it, you know, doing a Royals podcast when it's
not baseball season. Trust me, I've grinded through the numbers.
Like you're looking at it like this is not a
full shelf toy store. You're gonna have to pick off
what's on the shelves. The shelves are picked over, like
they're not letting high caliber right handed back And that's.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
And that's probably why he got a pretty good amount
of money for coming off mill for a disastrous year.
If I would incentives to six and a half, yeah
you know that quarter, it's pretty good money for a
guy just you know, was awful last year and the
year before.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Really, I mean, when Kyle Shorber signing for thirty million.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
Yeah, I'm not saying it's big money, but it's not
like I just have a guy to be like what
you get him for a million plus incentives this is,
you know, a reasonable amount of money.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Who's got Matt Who's gotten a million plus incentives. I'm
just curious, like, what, give me an example of the player,
because I mean, I hear what you're saying, but I
think I don't.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
I don't know what I have.
Speaker 5 (13:50):
I think like Yastrimsky made less than that last year?
Speaker 3 (13:53):
I think did he? I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
No, he was on the last year, but now he was.
He was in the last year.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Of a multi year contract. I thought it was. But
what did he get? The other day? He got a deal.
His deal is kind of interesting because it's nine to
ten and then a four million dollar buyout or seven
million to keep him. So it's three for twenty one,
or it's two for twenty seven, so it's thirteen and
a half per if they only keep him for two
(14:19):
years and they're like, god, we want you to go away.
If they's played well, it's three for twenty one, right,
and he had a pretty darn good year last year. Right,
I'm sorry, let me let me take that back. It's
three for nine ten and four is twenty three. Yeah,
so it's if he goes away, it's two for twenty three.
(14:40):
So eleven and a half per If they keep him,
then that number goes to seven, so it's four additionals.
So then it becomes three for twenty seven, So it's
nine million per year over three, or it's eleven and
a half million per year over two, right, so this
is much less. Yeah, yes, but I'm just saying this
guy is like.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
Scrap heap. I mean, he hardly played last year. In
the year before, he wasn't much better. He hit a
significant postseason home run.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
But yes, uh, last year won sixty.
Speaker 5 (15:19):
Yeah, he was in and out.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
He had.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Five eighteen over thirty nine games a year before, one
hundred thirty games, two thirty seven, three or nine four hundred.
But let's see what the splits are, because that's his slitzer.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
His slits are good.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
That's clearly what he hits.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
Lefties generally, well, two ninety career I think.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Versus left handers two ninety two, three fifty nine, five hundred,
that's what he's gonna be.
Speaker 5 (15:46):
Yeah, I like it. I'm fine with it. He goes
out and has five hundred at bats and well, you're
in trouble. Probably production is probably gonna fall. Yeah, you've
got in trouble.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
To me, it'll be interesting to see do they land
the everyday outfielder, like because like, who is that guy?
Who's the guy that goes with this?
Speaker 5 (16:15):
It was it Wastsky but clearly he.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
I don't know about it. I think Msky is is
just the heavy side of the platoon. If you give
you still have Lane Thomas, and then you'd be looking,
Then you'd be looking. You decided we can't find an
everyday guy. So we're gonna put those two together. And
so if you had twelve million dollars next year and
those two or I guess it'd be what nine, it'd
be fourteen million in those two, would you be happy? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (16:42):
Yeah, I think I would for fourteen Yeah, because I
think I think you Stromsky brings a lot to the table.
Now he's mid thirties, he could be could you know,
be the end of it. And he had been a
declining player until he prospered with the Royals. He was
better with the Royals than he'd been the last couple
of years. But that was what the Royals, that's what
was who he was going to be with. And he's
(17:04):
thirty five years old, so and he didn't come to
the majors until he was twenty eight, so it doesn't
have that much mileage on him as far as Major
League play. But yeah, I would have been happy with
that a regular outfielder. If if they both produced at
their platoon side the way they can and have.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
By the way they have, not the way they can,
you know, the way they know their best you're just live.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
The way they have would be a productive would be
a good fourteen million dollars spent.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
Yeah, I the way it is. I think the hope
is that they're going to find the everyday guy, but
I don't know that they're going to find him, so
I think the reality might end up being and you know,
unless and the problem is, everybody wants Brendan Donovan. I
think that's the guy they'd like because he can also
play second base, so it gives him insurance, and it
(17:51):
gives them a bit of a platoon even there at
second base where they can take India off the field.
Donovan's left handed, right, Yeah, he is a Yes, they
can take Indy off the field against righty's if they
want to and play him there, but he can be
your left fielder on most days. And then you get
a platoon of Lane Thomas and Jack Caglion, and then
(18:13):
if Jack Caglione blows up and you're playing him against
lefties as well, then you've got Lane Thomas can just
be on the other side of you know, I think
you'd have to what Matthews plays.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
I think you have to start off with Kagleon in
a strict platoon to get him some confidence and everything,
and then you'd have to decide at some point, well
maybe he can, and then maybe start sprinkling him in
some times against lefties and see if it carries over
or if he doesn't do it, then you just go
back to the platoon. So I mean, I think for
them to realize what they want to be offensively, Kaglioon's
(18:52):
a real key. And also we've seen what was a
very promising cameo from Carter Jensen. In many ways he
looks legit, but it's still a cameo.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Yeah, yeah, I would agree.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
Oh you know if those two guys pretty good about
Carter Jensen, I do too.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
I feel better Carter Jensen, like when you watch Jack
hagle and you're like, I can see why there's some problems, right,
That is a big cut yep, for a big guy,
he is taking a big swing.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
And Carter Jensen just looks hitterish.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Yes, very much, so, very much so. So Yeah, I
feel pretty good about the Carter Jensen part of the equation.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
Right, And if they were both good at least good,
then I think you're quite a ways there. You might
not even have to have gotten that other piece if
those two guys are good. And I think the offense
looks pretty darn good.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Yeah, I do too, I do too. So I like
what they're doing. I like where they're going, getting mikel
Garcia signed. I like that. I I think the baseball
sides humming along pretty good, and I like it. I'm
going to come back. And I know they didn't get
to the playoffs. They had a winning season, but you
look back at what was available last year. They didn't
go for Profar, that would have been a mistake. They
(20:11):
didn't go for Santander, that would have been a mistake.
The fact that they just left the gun in the
holster last year has proven to have been the right decision.
It would be great if they had their own guys
in house. That could have been the answer. But they
where is the big mistake since JJ Picolo took over.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
Well, I don't know if it's a big mistake, but
Hunter Rentfro.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Yeah, I think you needed I think the Hunter Rentfro
was somebody has to play. There was literally no one.
Speaker 5 (20:46):
To play, right, But they picked the wrong guy in
the end. I mean, you're asking for a mistake. I
guess that has to be tabbed a mistake. He wasn't good.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
He had he had a moment in they're running the
playoffs where he was. You had a solid first year,
nothing amazing. I will agree to disagree, but I am
not going to champion it as a success. They needed
somebody to.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
Waylay that's the big mistake. Then that's not a bad
big agreed.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Agreed. Yeah, And they weren't afraid to run away from
it when it didn't work. They pulled the rip cord.
And I think that's an important part of the Lakers.
Speaker 5 (21:22):
They are willing to, you know, like I think MJ.
Melendez would still be part of this organization under Daton More.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
Oh god, yes, oh are you kidding me? At a
Bertal modesty still be here? What are you kidding yourself?
Let's take a great seven year old. Yeah, let's take
a break, Danny Clinkscale, Little Danny and Leash, brought to
you by our friends at Eastern Roofing. Did you know
that the most exclusive commercial roofing manufacturers in the country Elevate,
Gaateco Carlisle Jam they always supply the very best roofing companies.
(21:49):
They supply Eastern Roofing here in Kansas City. That's why
they can write warnis on commercial flat roofs up to
thirty years. Only a handful of companies across the entire
country can say that here in case, it's Eastern Roofing
in my mind at Eastonroofing dot com.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
More of Danny's reasonably Irreverend podcast after this.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Hey, Kansas City, Joe Spiker, Eastern Roofing here.
Speaker 6 (22:11):
Don't you hate it when people start talking about Christmas

(22:34):
be real nice Clark, all.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
Right, the Nick and Jakes end of the hour answer,
how many Chargers starting quarterbacks have won more than once
at Arrowhead?
Speaker 5 (22:47):
Chargers running backs, quarterbacks?
Speaker 3 (22:51):
How many quarterbacks? How many quarterbacks have done what? Now?
I was looking something up for Danna. Sorry, I have one.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
That's okay, multiple give one more than once at Arrowhead?
Speaker 3 (23:01):
Well, Philip Rivers did. I'm sure Dan Fouts did.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Seven. I was gonna say Chiefs are terrible?
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Uh? Has Herbert?
Speaker 2 (23:11):
No?
Speaker 3 (23:11):
No, I don't think Herbert probably has.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
He's got one, yes.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Oh he has? Okay, so Herbert that's probably yeah. I
mean John is like Hadel. I think Fouts takes us
back to like to where the Chargers like. But between
Fouts and Hadel was like a carousel, right, and and
Arrowhead wasn't even around much before Dan Fouts. So that's
probably a three.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
There are four.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
I always should tack one on, damn it.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
A guy whose name seems to get lost in the
Stan humphriesfle for a guy who took them to the
Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Stan Humphries, Stan Humphries, oh about. Can't you hear the
satisfaction in Curtis's voice that we missed Stan Humphries.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
I thought it was, but I didn't think he got two.
I thought he was a starter for them for like
a year and they went to the Super Bowl. That's
my memory to stand Humphrey.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Thank you won here in ninety four and again in
ninety six. People forget that, Herbert. They remember the surprising
win earlier in the season against Mahomes, but people forget
that he won the finale in twenty twenty when the
Chiefs sat everyone because they'd already locked it up.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
Just gave away. I think it's pat but accounts gave
away some wonderful Nick and Jakes. We were just over
at Nick and Jakes thanks to Kevin and Jen. Kevin
Timmins Jenn Timmins, great great hosts yesterday as we were
over there helping out with our friends from the Autism
Resource Center and had a great time as we always
do at Nick and Jakes. And by the way, you
(24:41):
can still donate if you want Nick and Jakes social
media platforms. You can donate there or go to aa
RCKSE dot com. That's the Autism Resource Center, the only
autism center for adults, and they've got so many great
programs thanks to everyone that was over there with us
and Nicole Schroeder who is the executive director. We talked
(25:02):
with her. You can check it out right now and
if you donate right now, you're eligible all the way
up until the twenty first to win great, great prizes
at Nick and Jake's, including a big booze basket, basketful
of all kinds of fine liquors, a one hundred dollars Nick
and Jake's gift card to Kansas City Footballs. You know
what I mean by that. Go check it out, and
(25:22):
you while you're there, I don't know, get the gourmet
burger of the week, the Steakhouse Wagoo Burger eight ounce
Wagoo Burger patty from Snake River Farms, Onion and poppy
seed bun, mayo spring mixed tomato, blue cheese crumbles, bacon,
housemade steak sauce, and crispy onion straws. It's a wonderful,
wonderful day always at Nick and Jake's. Curtis seiboldt up
at eighty A as we of course go up there
(25:45):
once a year. Once a year they open the doors
so you can go say hi to Curtis. If you'd like.
He's right there at the southwest corner of six thirty
five and nine Highway, Little Danny unleashed, going on right now, Danny,
where do you sit on the chief so we can
see a spirited effort.
Speaker 5 (26:02):
Yeah, I think we're gonna see a spirited effort. But
I could see. I don't think this is gonna happen
because I think they're gonna win the game. But if
they get punched in the mouth early, there might be
some deflation here because they seemed like they they you know,
(26:23):
the season was over when they lost last week. That
was the It seemed to be the reaction in the
locker room from the comments of the the players that
all is kind of lost.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
That's why I took the Chargers. I think everybody is,
you know, the spread has gone up, and I think
everybody's just like you know, Scott van Peltic the Chiefs
and the points, and he has not been good this
year by the way he was. He did it comedically
celebrating his two and one week from the week before.
He goes started the week going one, but I rallied,
(26:55):
got red hot to finish two and oho, So it
was I was enjoyed that segment of his But yeah,
I was like, I had already set myself all week
that like everyone's gonna say the Chiefs are dead, They're
gonna love the Chargers for the gutty win against the Eagles.
I'm Gonday night and everyone's gonna be on the Chargers.
So I'm gonna be on the Chiefs. And I'm like,
(27:15):
you know what, everybody's on the Chiefs. Everybody. We all
keep bringing ourselves back around. I know, and I'm done.
I was done with Houston. I'm not getting back on
that bandwagon again this year. I don't. They'll need to
be a dog in a game before I go. Yeah,
let me put some money on them.
Speaker 5 (27:31):
I see the point. I said it last week that
I'm a logical man. I should be picking the Chiefs
to lose this game, and I didn't do it. And
it really is the same scenario here. But I think
the Chargers are on a short week. They acted like
that was one magnificent win last week. They really celebrated
(27:53):
at Jim Harbaugh called it like the birth of a
child and all this. They're on a short week. They've
traveled both weeks. No, that's right, short week, but they
have to travel, it's a noon game. There's a lot
of things playing against it. But I think this is
this game is up to the Chiefs defense. I think
the Chargers will put up a good defensive showing in
(28:15):
this game. The Chiefs offense I don't have confidence in
right now, but I can see the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
It's going to be the backup offensive lineman because it's
gonna be no Hollywood Brown, right.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
I think that they could really create a rough day
for Herbert, who is compromised. I mean he only threw
for one hundred and fifty yards. I mean he was
gutty and he ran for eighty or something.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
But sixty six.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
Yeah, but quite accounting yep and those of us who
played him in fantasy football.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
I think.
Speaker 5 (28:48):
I think if the Chiefs are going to win, it's
going to be something like, you know, twenty to sixteen
or something like that.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
That was my pick on the score. I took the
Chiefs like twenty to sixteen. But I really think it.
I'm not going to be shocked if they lose the game.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
No, I am not going to be shocked at all.
In fact, I'm not going to be shocked if it
looks like afterwards were saying, you know, the Chiefs that
the life was out of them. They just didn't have
it anymore. They were killed off last week. I mean,
you can dress it up any way you want, but
that you know, we keep saying they got to do this.
(29:23):
By the way, this will now be the first year
in the last twelve years where they haven't won five
games in a row because they can't in the regular season.
And you know, they needed to do that, but they
especially needed it because it was the Texans. Now, so
many things have to go right. I mean, we're all
talking about the Chargers are nine to four, the Chiefs
(29:44):
are tied with the Dolphins, So I mean, it's not good.
But you made a good point earlier though. It was
the fact that if this is a disaster, then we're
all spoiled. Yes, it's not horrendous. They've lost several close
games and they're six and seven, and they're mathematically alive
(30:05):
and it's in middle of December. So the question is
is this sort of the start of a lackluster period
for the Chiefs overall? That's the thing. And I was
asked by somebody during the course of the week whether
they should quote unquote like blow it up. The NFL
has so much change that you don't really have to
(30:28):
do that much to create a significant shift in your roster.
I guess the blow it up part would be, we
don't care about the money. We're walking on Chris Jones,
we needed restructuring this. We're not gonna Travis wave goodbye.
I guess that would be sort of a sea change
just because they're big names. But there's such roster turnover
(30:50):
in the NFL anyway that the Chiefs will have a
significantly different looking team. Now, the receiver corps is young,
that probably will look somewhat the same, but elsewhere there
could be a lot of change just by natural attrition
of the National Football League.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
Yeah, I think there will. There always is attrition, but
there wasn't enough attrition this past year. Are part of
the reason there wasn't was because they handicapped themselves against
the cat right. There just wasn't that much they could do.
I want to change gears here real quick, and I'm
trying to retweet this, but you know, why would any
company leave alone something that works? And so Twitter has
(31:29):
done everything they can to be You've heard about Curtis's
trials and tribulations.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
Oh, mine were worse, So I you don't have to,
but you still have yours. Oh I didn't have it
for almost two months. Well, Curtis has gone, well, he
can probably find a way to restructure it.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
Pete thamo is reporting that Kyle Whittingham has stepped down.
There's also a report out there that the Missouri offensive
coordinator more is going to be hired as the Washington
State head coach to tackling one of those Whittingham. They've
got the successor in waiting divis coordinators, right, gonna step
in to be him. So that doesn't do anything. And
by the way, we've got Taron Moore and the Michigan
(32:06):
job open.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
Oh my god, let's let's just not even talk about
that poor situation. I mean that was awful. I mean,
the whole thing's awful. It's terrible on multiple levels.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
I yeah, I don't. I don't have a strong interest
in getting into the.
Speaker 5 (32:25):
Uh, because there's a lot of things we don't know. Yes, well,
we do know that it is a horrible personal situation
on multiple levels for multiple people.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (32:34):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
But Pete Damil reporting Washington State's target of Missouri offers
the coordinator, Kirby Moore, to be the school's next coach.
The sides are working toward a deal. It's expected to
come together today. Former wide receiver at Boys and former
Fresno OC.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
So, I think that that's you know, Eli Drinkwitz is
an offensive coach. Yes, he supposedly he doesn't really call
the plays as it were, but I think he has
plenty of his hands on the offense. So I don't
think that's any kind of really super significant loss for Missouri.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Good for him, boy, he's got the ammunition to hire
a good one. But he should not be spending two
hundred grand on an OC. No, he's got a sixteen
million dollar budget.
Speaker 5 (33:16):
He can and he can get rite his own check
for a little extra if if he'd be with that
grossly fat contracts that.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Have you heard the details? Do you know that with
every eight win season he gets another year and a
two hundred thousand dollars raise. Yeah, boy, which, let's be honest,
though they're going to nine. Let's be honest, two hundred
thousand is not even a cost of living raise. No,
it's think about that. That's how big his contract is.
They're getting a two hundred thousand dollars raise standard cost
(33:46):
of livings three percent.
Speaker 5 (33:47):
If his agent was smart, he should have just said
a percentage and hope that they didn't really do the math.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
The agent has him making eleven point four million in
the final year of a guarantee deal. The last thing
I would say about his agent is that he's not smart.
Speaker 5 (34:04):
No, I didn't say he wasn't smart, But if he could,
he could have like boondoggled the other side by just saying, well,
we'll take an eight percent rate, you know, but when
they say two hundred thousand, well that's chicken feed. But
if they said some percentage, like just a little bit
like twelve, the amount is so big that it would
have been it would have been a lot of money.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
I want to be clear his because it's based upon
the year they add on. So the year before he's
making eleven point four million, the two hundred thousand dollars
raise is only a one point seventy five percent I
said increase. I mean it is what it costs a
living is three percent? Right?
Speaker 5 (34:39):
He should have said we want a twelve percent raise. Well,
that didn't sound like that much, and it would have
been over a million or a million, that's what he
should have done.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
But like I said, yeah, he needs a three hundred
and forty two thousand dollars raise just to keep up
with the standard inflation.
Speaker 5 (34:56):
Yeah, it's rough times at the drink Witz House. I
just I think it's I think it's fantastic, bad patch
for Eli.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
I just love that the guy gets a two hundred
thousand dollars rais And it's like.
Speaker 5 (35:08):
Ah, it's gonna have to I mean, cut back on
the spendings is going to be harder. It is with
nine conference to play nine conference games, you probably are
going to have to have a winning record in the conference.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
I don't know. I don't have a problem with the
deal at all. They like him, he likes missoo. They've
got the money.
Speaker 5 (35:26):
I'm just saying it's it's it's a landscape that is
is stupid when you're trying to put together a roster
and pay players.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
But that's the thing is, like, I think the underreported
part of the story is how much money Mazoo has
because they threw in sixteen million for the staff, and
you know then there's another what fourteen million, there's fourteen
million more for the support staff. I need. I need
to get those details out because I don't want to
be talking out of my rear end here and overstating it.
(35:54):
But here, I can scroll to it. It's on our
topic sheet here. Hang on, it is because I think,
didn't we say there's fifty one million before you even
get to the roster. Maybe I've got that backwards. I need,
I need.
Speaker 5 (36:07):
Anyway, they have a lot of money and they can
afford to pay him that. It's just that they it's
just a good and excellent time to be a college
football coach. You don't have to do that much to
get an extension and a raise, and then if you
get fired, you get a sweetheart deal no matter what
you did right off the field, on the field whatever,
(36:29):
unless unless you just turn into you know, a felon
like jarn Moore.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
Yeah, all right, let's take a break more with Danny

So Danny, mm hmm, what do you think of what's
going to happen the rest of the year with the
Chiefs talking about the Charger game the rest of the year,
the whole thing is gonna get mailed?
Speaker 5 (38:15):
Then, Nah, I think that, well, they're gonna win that
it's almost impossible not to win the two games against
the other opponents. They're dreadful. Yeah, you know, I won't
even make it. I watched a Wolverhampton Premier League game
the other day and then they haven't won a game yet.
So it's like I texted my sister and I said,
(38:39):
you can consider because shall we said which games if
you watch? What should I watch? And I say, you
can consider any Wolverhampton game unwatchable. So those two teams
in the NFL are Wolverhampton.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
It might not just be them the Giants, and so.
Speaker 5 (38:52):
The Chiefs will probably win those games. That'll feel good
whether their season will be looked at, you know, if
they lose the other two games and then they're going
to be a losing team. Which probably you would think
they'd have some sense of pride in that. Now they
could be playing the Broncos when the Broncos don't have
anything to play for, but with only one number one seed.
Probably depends on whether they have no chance to get
the number one seed in that game.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
The bigger fear is the Chargers getting the Broncos, because
they need the Chargers to lose the Broncos.
Speaker 5 (39:18):
Right, That's that's the bigger fear until until the Chiefs
win Sunday. I'm not even going to talk about their
playoff chances anymore. I think they're so small that you know, yes,
win the game and still hope for the miracle. If
you're a fan, why wouldn't you do that?
Speaker 3 (39:32):
I agree, if they win the game, okay, yeah, but
right now, no point even talking about it.
Speaker 5 (39:39):
It's good, you know, I think it's good. It's a
one o'clock game. But Christmas, if they lose this game,
who's going to show up on Christmas? No one, Iran,
It's going to be give your tickets away.
