José Jorge Laínez fue periodista y escritor que cultivó varios géneros: cuentos para niños, cuentos de terror, ensayos, y, por el que fue más conocido por la sociedad salvadoreña de su época, humorista bajo el seudónimo de Mister Ikuko. Nació en San Salvador el 26 de abril de 1913 y murió en la misma ciudad en 1962.
En 1952 publicó MURALES EN EL SUEÑO, que recoge por primera vez el género del terror y una imaginación febril. Entre ellos, sobresalen con notas misteriosas y desenlaces imprevistos "La Carta de la Muerte", "Árboles Vengadores" y "La Mosca Azul de la Locura".
Trabajo como Jefe de Redacción de la Prensa Gráfica y profesor de periodismo en la Universidad de El Salvador, enhebra tramas absurdas, cuentos policíacos y toda clase de personajes literarios, publicados bajo el con el cual da vida a un famoso personaje ficticio: Tiburcio Telénguez, el Vengador Silencioso, y sus flamantes auxiliares: el Cabo Nicolasito Pulga y el Capitán Pucheros.
