FRANCISCO ESTEBAN GALINDO (1850-1896). Poeta, dramaturgo, periodista, pedagogo, orador y político salvadoreño, nacido en San Vicente el 12 de marzo de 1850, y fallecido en Sonsonate en 1896. Fue hermano de Antonia Galindo, pionera de la literatura centroamericana escrita por mujeres. Su constante presencia en la vida pública salvadoreña de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, realzada por los méritos de su incesante labor literaria y periodística, le convierte en una de las figuras más destacadas del panorama cultural centroamericano. Rubén Darío, en una visita a Sonsonate realizada en 1896, levantó su copa poética en un brindis dirigido de esta guisa al escritor salvadoreño: "Por el que echa rosas de oro / cuando dice sus palabras. / Por ti, Galindo, que labras / tu pensamiento sonoro". Por el manejo de los recursos retóricos, virtud que le acreditó como uno de los mejores oradores de su tiempo.
