Las leyendas de la iglesia y el cementerio de Stull tienen más de 100 años, no obstante, no fue hasta 1974 cuando se dieron a conocer de forma masiva. En este año se publicó un artículo en el periódico de la universidad de Kansas en el que se narraban una gran cantidad de hechos extraños acontecidos en el lugar. Tal es el punto, que se suele decir que aquí se ubica una de las siete puertas del infierno.
