Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, guys, welcome back to Downtown Rams. As always,
I'm Alexis Kraft. Join here with my co host Jake
ellen Bogan, and we are coming to you live tonight
to preview our Week two matchup against the Tennessee Titans
in Tennessee this upcoming Sunday. Jake, we're rolling into week
two with the w that's always a nice feeling. We're

(00:22):
going to be playing on the road, this time against
the Tennessee Titans down in Nashville, and it's a game
that I originally was hoping to be at because I
don't live crazy far from Nashville, but unfortunately, with my
show schedule, I'm not able to make it. But I
know a lot of RAMS fans are going to be there.
I've seen online. I know a lot of the community

(00:43):
is going to show out. So that's great. And Jake
feeling good after the Week one win and feeling pretty
good going into week two. But there's a lot of
different things that we're going to break down this episode
to previewing this matchup. But overall, how you feeling feeling good?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
You know, I don't know if you guys realize this,
but the Rams haven't been two to oh to start
a season since the Super Bowl year. I know that
sounds crazy, but when you think about it, it's literally
been that long. The of course, the Lions game last year,
then they start off with you know, Seattle, and then
they lose to the forty nine ers and a close one,

(01:22):
so they haven't and then obviously the Bills in twenty
twenty two, so they haven't actually been two and oh
since twenty twenty one, and before that they were two
and oh every year under Sean McVay. So yeah, it's
time to get back to you know, I think that's
kind of what the narrative should be for the Rams.
It's to get back to where they were because I mean,
we know, obviously Sean McVay has these guys ready to

(01:44):
play at the end of the season. They've had to
make end of the season runs the last two years
to save face, and they've been one of the hottest teams. Well,
imagine what they can do if they're able to get
off to a good start and then still play that
way at the end of the year. We're gonna find out.
But I'm liking their chances this week.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
I am too. I do like their chances, you know,
going into this matchup week two, and we're going to
talk about why I think we should start with the
offense because things on offense I think in the first
game did not go as hot initially, at least as

(02:25):
we wanted them to or as we expected them to.
A lot of that I think had to do with
the offensive line. And there's some injury updates there that
we'll talk about. But Jake or let's just start with
the offensive line. Why not? Because I think that's a
big going to be a big, huge, Yeah, you know
this game. So do you have that injury report pulled up?

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:46):
So I don't have it pulled up right in front
of me at this moment, but obviously I can pull
that up.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
But what I will tell you is that you have Sweat.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
De Andre Sweat is not playing for the Titans, which
I think is huge because he he's a big body,
a lot of mass in the trenches and he's really
good at stopping the run. Albeit and I will give
them credit. You know, you have other guys there. Jahad
Ward did a really nice job, you know, in the trenches,

(03:16):
and that's something I want to give him credit for
because you know, you think of Tovandre Sweat as the guy,
but actually, you know, jahad Ward did a really nice
job as well as James Lynch, who I truthfully, I
know just about everybody in this league. I've never heard
of James Lynch before. He was a fourth rounder in
twenty twenty by the Minnesota Vikings out of Baylor.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
I don't know if you remember him. I do not.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
So he and jahad Ward had good games in the
run game last week against the Broncos. Now it's worth
mentioning that this defense they literally forced six turnovers if
you count two turnover on downs against the Broncos high
powered offense with Sean Payne on the offensive side. They're

(04:05):
gonna be without j C. Latham and that's huge. I
mean that is absolutely massive. Olu uh sorry, oli Udo
was horrific on tape at right tackle horrific. So I
think Agent zero Byron Young has a really good opportunity there.

(04:25):
They also ruled out, basically ruled out Kalele Mullings, the
running back, and also their draft pick out of Penn State,
Kevin Winston junior. They're they're both doubtful unlikely to play,
but there have been guys that have been playing kind
of banged up. I mean, I know Jarvis Brownlee Junior
got hurt, you know a little bit, he played through it.

(04:47):
And then also Lugerious Snead their prize free agent acquisition.
He's also been playing banged up and on a snap count.
So we'll see what we get out of that. But
down the Rams side, Colby Parkinson doubtful means he's not playing.
They already basically said that we could see more Terrence Ferguson,
I'm hoping we do.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
And then in.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Addition to that, you have Steve Avula, who shocker, he's
the one that returned Alexis in that game, but he's
out and well doubtful, but we know what that means.
And then Kevin Dotson, who left the game and didn't return,
is actually playing. So I found that really interesting. You know,

(05:27):
Rob Havenstein had a day off where you know, he
was sore, basically a veteran rest day, and then Alec
Jackson had a rest day today as well. So sounds
like they're gonna have four the five offensive linemen. I
would expect bol Limmer to take over for Steve Ovula
left guard and for Limmer absolutely fantastic run blocker, but

(05:50):
he is a liability right now, just in his career.
He's a liability as a pass protector. I don't think
he's as bad as people think, but he's he's a
work in progress. So we're going to find out.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Yeah, so that offensive line, you know, is going to
be I think big for us right going against Tennessee
and you know, just looking at the offense and you
know what they want to do, Jake, I mean, we
look at week one right, fourteen points. It's not great. Granted,
the Texans defense played fairly well. I think they played

(06:26):
pretty well, so I want to give credit where credit
is due as well. I mean a lot of that.
You've got to give Houston Texans credit. But I think
you know, obviously Pokin Nakua, great game from him. I mean,
one of the best in the league. I don't know
why people continue to sleep on Pooku and Akua. I mean,
just watch the tape. Watch what he's able to do.
You know, DeVante, Adams and Stafford, I think as the

(06:47):
game went on got more comfortable and more in sync,
and then Kyen, there wasn't a lot in the run
game against the Texans. You know, obviously that touchdown on
fourth down, which we talked about a last episode Crazy,
was great. But you know, I think that this offense
needs to show us going into this game that they

(07:10):
are who we think they are. I think that, you know,
they they looked a little bit rusty, and again, I
think the offensive line had a lot to do with
that in Week one. But I would like to see
a more high powered offense going into Week two against
this Titans defense. I'd like to see maybe a little
bit more diversity in the run game. Maybe you get
corm involved a little bit more. I don't know if

(07:31):
that will happen or not. I think that Kiren is
still going to be getting at least seventy percent of
the snaps. I mean, we've kind of talked about this
throughout the off season and in the first episode. You know,
we would like to see some more running backs used
a little bit there as well. But Jake, what do
you think the offensive game plan is going to be

(07:51):
going against this Titans defense in lieu of the injuries
that are happening.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah, I think the offense the game plan is, you know,
they're going to try to stablished the run early on.
I think they want to get that going that way.
It kind of sets you up. You know, you can
play the strategy game and then the second half, you know,
then you have the play action passing attack. Maybe you
can do some things. But you know, I want to
make this very clear. I think there are Rams fans

(08:18):
that are overlooking this Titans defense. And I don't believe
the Rams are going to do that. But I'm just
you know, letting people know. This Titans defense made bo
Nicks look horrific. Okay, he was, he was awful. They
somehow won the game, but I was really impressed with
what I saw. And Alexis Dinard Wilson. You know, he

(08:41):
comes from the Saint Louis Rams. He was part of
that coaching staff and he's really developed and you know
I mentioned in our last episode, but you know, I
think he's done a great job. This is his second
year as a defensive coordinator. He was with the Mike
McDonald defense over with the Ravens, and I think he's
gonna be up there potentially be a head coach, just

(09:03):
like Chris Shula. So you're gonna get something there. I know,
you know, sweats out. But there are other guys that
can contribute. This is a really good looking defense, and
not just good looking on paper, but they show it
on film. And you know, I think, you know, you
look at those linebackers, you know, Cody Barton and Cedric Gray,
you know they can make plays in space. They you know,

(09:24):
and that's the thing when you have a Kyra Williams
that you know he gets to the second level. He's
got some power to his his running style, but he's
also slippery. Sedric Gray and Cody Barton they're good at
stopping those type of runs. And then of course Jeffrey Simmons,
who could blow this game up. But I do believe
that they are going to try and run the football

(09:45):
early on, establish the run, and I think we're gonna
see some shot plays in this one. Because it's nothing
against the Titans, but with the Texans game, the Rams
came into that. I don't believe they're overlooking the Titans,
but I think they knew what game they were going
to get with the Texans. I think they knew that
game was going to be really tight, even if it

(10:06):
shouldn't have been, but you know, it was really tight.
And so I don't feel like in those games you're
going to just you know, basically try those shot plays.
The name of the game last week, Alexis, the game
plan was to take care of the football, and they
did just that this week obviously are on the road,
you want to take care of the football. But I

(10:27):
would not be surprised if they throw a shot played
with you two out well, I would not be surprised,
you know, if they try something, you know, with the
Jordan Whittington right like, I wouldn't be surprised if they
go that route. So we'll see what ends up happening.
But yeah, that's that's kind of what I think. I
think they're going to get it started with Kyraen Williams
in the run game.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Yeah, I think they're going to start out testing the
waters there, seeing what they're able to do, seeing what works.
But I would like to see some explosiveness in the
passing game, you know, as well to people other than
just Puka Nakua, you know, I would like to see
some more to Winnington. I'd like to see two two
at well involved. So we'll see. I think there's a
very good chance that that this happens this game, Jake,

(11:08):
But I think, you know, regardless I'd just like to
see some more fluidity on offense that was not able
to be found as much against the Texans. I think
that that might potentially be possible in the passing game
with the Titans. And it's also a wild that we've
got Texans and Titans. I know I'm going to mix
that up at some point. I just diood, Yeah, I
I know I will. But anyways, against the Titans, I

(11:33):
would like to see that a little bit more and
then before we kind of, you know, wrap up what
we want to see out of the offense. I would
like to see Terrence Ferguson right our second round draft pick.
Not sure you know what the Rams game plan is
specifically for him or not. You know, you've got Tyler
Higbyen there. Davis Allen had a touchdown Week one, So
in the absence of Kolbe Parkinson, you know, what are

(11:55):
they going to do to kind of, you know, fill
that spot at tight end. That'll be really in interesting
to see. But I would like to see Ferguson out
there at least a little bit. I think we all
kind of want to see him in some regular season
actions sooner than later.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah, No, I don't think this is the week where
he like goes off. So I wouldn't, you know, go
crazy about putting him in your you know, fantasy team,
you know, using him in your sleeper picks. We'll get
to those. I wouldn't do that. Maybe a touchdown, but
I wouldn't go crazier than that. But this will be

(12:30):
his first opportunity in the offense. I do expect him
to get reps. When you run twelve personnel about forty
something percent of the time in your first game, and
that's clearly the direction you're trying to go in. You
only have three tight ends on this roster, so it's
not like Davis Allen and Tyler Higby are going to
play every single snap in twelve personnel. So I do

(12:52):
think we will see some Terrence Ferguson who played about
five snaps last week on special teams, and I think
that it'll probably be the second half, and I think
he'll probably, if I had to guess, he's probably gonna
have like two catches for forty yards or something like that,
something like that. I don't think it's gonna be anything crazy,
but yeah, yeah, we'll take it. I mean, you know,

(13:12):
if two catches for forty and thirty two of them
come on one play, don't be surprised. So I think
they'll get him involved in that would be a good thing.
I'm really and I don't know why, but I'm really
feeling like Jordan Whittington is going to step up big
in this game. I don't know if it's the return game,

(13:33):
I don't know what it is, but he just looks
like he's got another level of explosiveness to him. Was
one of the fastest timed ball carrier you know, plays
of the year. Obviously it's the first week, but you
know that seventy four yard return that gets called back,
that was the fifth fastest time of the week. I
mean that's crazy. So I feel like the game plan

(13:57):
obviously they have it, but you go back you watch
the film. I think Sean McVay is gonna be like,
we gotta find a way to get this guy involved.
So I think eighty eight Problems is gonna score a
touchdown in this one. I'm gonna say it right now,
and I think he's gonna have a really good game.
So i'd look out for number eighty eight and then
to two out well, who was barely utilized. Number five.

(14:18):
You know, he barely utilized. I wouldn't be surprised they
get him going to So this will be a game
where I think, if those things do happen, Alexis they
happen in the second half, the Rams are going to
feel it out. They're gonna be that boxer that kind
of like, yeah, okay, I see what he has, I
see the arsenal, I see all that, and then you know,

(14:39):
the later rounds you start to just attack because you
know what you have and you know what they don't.
I think that's what the Rams game will be. It'll
be a lot of sizing up, and I do think
the Rams will ultimately, you know, do what they want
to do in the second half.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
I do.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Well, I agree. I think you know, as as we
talked about, I think that they're gonna try to start
run heavy and then maybe move more in the past
game a little bit. But looking at you know, so
that's kind of the Rams offensive game blam. Looking at
the Rams defensive game plan, Jake, you know you look
at this Tennessee Titans offense. It's led by rookie quarterback

(15:17):
cam Ward. Uh you know who. I know we both
liked a lot in the draft process. Look at their yeah,
I mean you look at their receiving room. They've got
some newer faces. So you've got Tyler Lockett, who Rams
fans are familiar with. We watched him for many many
years up in Seattle and now he's down in Tennessee.
You've got Calvin Ridley, and then you've got Ao Minore

(15:41):
right out of Stanford Aomnor.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
You like I man you.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Like Io Manor. I was not as familiar with him.
I know that you know he was talked about a
little bit in the draft process, but honestly, I not
as familiar with him, and I did not see any
of his tape from week one, so that'll be into sing.
Then you look at the run game. You got Tony
Pollard in there, and then Mullings. So you mentioned earlier

(16:06):
is injured, So I think Juliu's chestnut should be backing
up Pollard if I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Yeah, And Taja Spears being out has really hurt them too,
so they don't really have a lot of running back depth.
So god forbid something happens to Pollard and they're in trouble.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Yeah, So I think Ward is going to be forced
to really be heavy in the past game this game,
you know, against the Rams. And also what doesn't help
is his offensive line situation, which we tough touched on
a little bit earlier, Jake, as well as how we
think that Jared Vers and Byron Young could potentially have

(16:46):
very big games. They're right starting right tackles out. He
has already been ruled out, and then I don't love
the rest of their offensive line. So yeah, I mean
I'm not setting the stage very well for cam mood
d am I you know.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
It's not a good stage, Alexis.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
It is not you know, listen, we we both we
both just talked about how we like cam Ward, but
you know, dude, it's like not it's not looking good
for him based on you know, what he has in
the field, both just to think talent wise and injury wise,
and as you talked about last week and made a
good point at the end of our Week one episode,
this is very unfair that cam Ward is having to

(17:26):
go from the Broncos to the Rams and back to
back week his rookie career.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
It's and then he's got the Colts next week, He's
got the next Yeah, that's exactly what it is. He's
got the Colts next next week, and then he has
the Texans week four, so he's just facing some of
the best defenses in football right away. It's gonna only
make him better. So but in this one, you know,
we we mentioned, you know, JC Latham's out, so only

(17:53):
Yudo is there.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Turn on the tape.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
That's all I'm gonna say, right, tackle Tye ends turn
on the tape. Broncos could do whatever they wanted. I
don't like Dan Moore at all. I mean not personally,
I don't know him, but as a player, like I
watched a ton of him on the Steelers.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
And he was someone dark and sall right.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
I'm thinking of uh.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
I think it was A Texas, Texas A and M Texas. Yeah,
Texas A and M got it. Yeah, So Dan Moore
got paid. He got paid because well, you ever have
a lot of money and you know, you just want
something and you just decided to spend a lot of
money on it for like no reason, even though you

(18:39):
could get something that was probably better if you like waited,
You're just like.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Screw it.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
I have a lot of money. I'm just feeling it
was kind of careless spending by the Titans. Titans had
a lot of cap space, they had a need at
left tackle, and they're just like, yeah, Dan Moore, Like
they just gave him a ton of money because they
didn't want to wait for Alec Jackson, which he didn't
end up being a free agent anyway, and they didn't
want to.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Wait for Ronnie Stanley.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
So when those guys signed, they're like, oh, Dan Moore,
So yeah, Dan Moore gave up over forty pressures last
year in ten plus sacks with the Steelers. That first
game was not good against the Broncos, not at all. Right,
Nick Benito destroyed these guys. I mean, it's Nick Benito,

(19:27):
but you have Jared Verse, you have Byron Young, right,
Josiah Stewart, Like I think Josiah Stewart could get involved
in this one. I want to give some credit to
their offensive line here. I know it sounds like I'm
just ripping them to shreds. They're interiors really good. Peter Scarnsky,
who I know, you remember Peter Skarnsky is him, He's legit.

(19:52):
He's actually really fun to watch their left guard. He's
really good. And then Lloyd Cushion Barry, who I've like
for a long time. He's their center. Didn't have his
best game last week. He's also coming back from an
achilles tear last year, so you know it's gonna take
him some time.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
But he's a good player.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
And then Kevin Zeitler I said it now on three
different shows, the Lions wish they didn't let him go.
He's a very good player. So their interior is really good.
That makes them like tough. But like when you have
the rams defensive line that they have, I'm not really worried,
you know, and then you have the tackles. See that's

(20:32):
this is how I want to word it. When you
have a dominant defensive front, these guys, if you have
like a really good offensive line you're going up against,
that's not really an issue for you. That's just them
evening the playing field. When you have a bad tackle group,
now you can't even compete with me. That's how it is.

(20:54):
So like there's really no excuse, Like Byron Young and
Jerry Versus should absolutely eat in this game, point blank period.
I mean, it shouldn't even be close. And cam Ward
is going to have to run for his life.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
Yeah, I'm on the same page. I mean, just looking
on paper, knowing what we know about, you know, the
state of their offense, the state of our defense. There's
really no excuse in my mind either for why our
pass rush can't be successful in this game. I think
it's going to be really hard for rookie quarterback to
overcome that. I mean, Verse and Young are no joke,

(21:34):
and you know, you look at their tackle situation, it
just does not look good for Tennessee at all. So
I do expect that the Rams are going to have
a very successful day on defense. I my assumption is
that you're going to see a lot of quick passes
from cam Ward. I don't think that or he's going
to have to get a little bit mobile, right, I
mean we just talked about their running back situation. I

(21:55):
don't know that he has much choice in the matter
if you look at the Rams defense and what the
game plan should be. So I think they're just gonna
try to get a lot of quick, quick passes off
or trying to get cam Ward, you know, running out
of the pocket. And yeah, I feel for the guy,
I do, but you know what, that's the way it goes, right,

(22:20):
It's Week two for a rookie quarterback is never going
to be walking the park, I think, especially looking at
what he's gonna have to deal with the rams not
so much.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Yeah, it's not gonna be easy, but you know, I
will say with him, he made some really good throws
against the Broncos, and honestly, he had a lot of drops.
He had two from Calvin Ridley, had one from Elick A. Iomner.
That's a tough name, elick Iomanner. He had three drops
from those guys, and then like Tyler Lockett, played a

(22:51):
lot of snaps, he had one target. I think the
the thing with cam Ward is that he only, like
I don't think. I think he wants to be the
guy to have to rely on the rookie, you know,
kind of the leashes if you will, like okay, dump
it off to the running back, hit your tight end,
like he's trying to play quarterback at a big boy level.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
Right.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
The problem is like Tony Pollard had a twenty nine
yard reception and they didn't really go back to Tony
Pollard in the receiving game. And the reason why I
bring that a problem is it's not me saying as
a football fan, like, oh, yeah, you know, cam Ward,
he needs to do this I'm actually bringing it up
because I think he's going to do this. This was
his first game. You know, he got his feet wet,

(23:37):
and they can go back to the table and be like, oh, yeah,
that worked, we should do that again. And so the
Rams are going to have to defend Tony Pollard. And
that gets you into kind of no man's land, Like
is that landman? No pun intended? Is that landman? Is
that Omar Spates? Is that Quinton Lake?

Speaker 1 (23:54):
Right?

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Tony Pollard, we can all agree he's a great route runner.
He's a good pass protector, although last week was not great.
It's just you know, I feel like, yeah, that just
needs to be said. Look out for Tony Pollard. I
think he's kind of the key to this game because
he I don't know, if you remember it's twenty nineteen,

(24:17):
he sliced and diced the Rams in that Cowboys game.
He was an absolute terror. Yeah, Tony Pollard has given
the Rams fits in the past. I definitely wouldn't rule
him out from doing it this time because it's not
really about stopping the run. It's actually the receiving game.

(24:39):
And where I was expecting the Texans to implement it
a little bit more with what he marks. They actually
didn't and I think people will look at the receiving
game and be like, well they got to Daria Goombalwalle
and the Rams forced to fumble. Absolutely, but if done correctly,
Tony Pollard is one of the best, one of the

(25:00):
better receiving backs in the NFL and can be a problem.
So I am really curious to see how cam Ward
goes about this. They got guys that can make plays
after the catch, Chicka Konquo, Calvin Ridley, so you know,
we'll see what ends up happening. But I think Tony
Pollard is key in this game.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
Well, Jake, for our next segment where we make predictions
with the help of a sponsor, Yes, maybe I'm predicting
that you were going to uh get Pollard involved in
that maybe spoiler. No, I tried to maybe a segway
smooth you guys to get a job.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
Maybe, Well, we're not doing anything smooth because I'm gonna
have to. I'm gonna have to bring this technological thing here.
As you can see. Don't mind the phone being off,
I gotta turn it on real quick.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
See what I mean.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Uh, By the way, it just is one of those days.
But today's sponsor, of course, is and as you can
now see here, see we turned the phone on. How
about that power is on? Shut off on me. I
don't know what was going on there. So yeah, we
got the sleeper stuff right here. And you mentioned it.

(26:18):
Tony Pollard, huh where is his receiving?

Speaker 1 (26:22):
I just my gut. I was like, he's gonna go
for it because I was here in Tony Paul receive.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
God give me sixteen and a half more than that. Absolutely,
it's twenty nine last week on one catch, So yeah,
he's legit. I'm actually gonna say Kyron has more than
ten and a half. I know that's kind of a
weird one to go with because you can't just use
Kiren for everything, but I like this number a lot. Yeah,

(26:54):
I definitely think Davonte Adams has more than fifty eight
and a half. I Ridley had a bad game, like
in the twenty yard range. I'm gonna say he has
more than fifty five and a half.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
And then let's see but what's hot, Let's see we.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
Got here, Let's see what's everyone doing.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
I don't see Whittington touch ay, I see Jark West
Hunter who wasn't even active last week. H I guess
we'll find out if he's active. But give me Jordan
Whittington here. Looks like he's I didn't mean to do that,
but looks like he is. He's gotten anytime touchdown. Yeah,
I'm definitely gonna hit that. Parkinson's out so he shouldn't

(27:39):
be there. But yeah, uh, you have anything you want
to add here, I'll be honest.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
I'm not wearing my glasses.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Oh yeah, yeah, I was living that's a small screen.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
I was listening to you read out stuff and I
was just trusting that it was correct. That's what you
were clicking. I mean, you already did a Kaien prop
so you can't. I don't think you can do another one.
Let's see you know what you can.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Like I got so, I just got the Midnight I
don't know if you noticed it. I got the Midnight Jersey,
So in honor of the Midnight Verse, I had to
go with the verse there.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
I ordered a Midnight Jersey. It is not come in yet,
and I needed to admit that live on here because
I know that I was very critical of it on
social media when the jersey dropped, and I just want
everyone to know. I did buy one because I am
going to that game at SOFI November sixteenth, and I
was like, listen, yeah, I was like, if I'm going
to the game, I have to be wearing the jersey,

(28:47):
right Like I can't. I mean, I guess you could.
You don't have to wear it, but I want to
fit in, Okay, I just want to be like everybody else.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
That's actually kind of cool because it's like a tor
shirt for like a band, like you were there, you
know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
I can't say that I won't be there. I'm leaving.
The week before.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
In the comments, somebody asked which player jersey I got?

Speaker 3 (29:07):
You guys, guess, gee, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
Who what jersey would Alexis have gotten?

Speaker 3 (29:15):
I I mean to be fair, I did just get
a Kien jersey.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
So there you go.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
I have two. I have the white one, the modern throwback,
and I have the blue.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Aiden. You were correct. I did get a Kien Williams
rivalry jersey because I had to.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
You just had to. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Well, like you said, it's kind of feels like a
collectible it it really is. Kne Yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
And then Pooka, what are we doing here? I gotta
hit that, all right. So here's the deal, y'all. If
you like this, you can put this in ten dollars.
This all hits, which, by the way, I think this
is pretty realistic. I mean, Whittington the touchdown, he should

(30:05):
have had a touchdown, Like I mean, he didn't score,
but you can tell if they used him, he could
have had a touchdown. So yeah, if everything here happens,
Pollard receiving yards, Kyroen receiving yards, Adams Whittington scores, Calvin
Ridley receiving yards, Nikua Jared versus the sack, then you

(30:28):
could win almost two thousand dollars on ten dollars. And
if you sign up using the code JKB, you'll get
a match up to one hundred dollars on your first deposit.
So the code is in the description below against sleeper
dot com slash promo slash JKB. Terms and conditions do apply,

(30:51):
but be sure to check it out. And by putting
in JKB, you let him know that you know we
sent you, So.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Do that for us.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Appreciate y'all, and now back to our predictions.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
Back to our predictions.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Also for everybody. There's some comments saying that I was
going to get the stets embedded rivalry Jersey. That is
not an option to buy with US currency, So.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
Jeez, talk about nuking on that person's life.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
I'm just saying that, like, you can't buy it.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
No, I know, that's just not an option in US currency.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
I think that they know that. But unfortunately, like I
was surprised that there wasn't. I'm sure most of you
have seen the Jersey options by now, but there wasn't
like a ton of options player wise, like they didn't have.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
I think I tried to get all they didn't have it.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
Yeah, they only have.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
I mean I did.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
I did the the limited because I wanted the stitching.
But it's funny as cool as that looks, and I
will be alternating it because I know there's some probably
some Yankee fans in here for my Yankee show. I'm
not gonna just keep Judge hidden, but I will say
the thing I'm most excited about is the black helmet

(32:17):
that I have coming in that'll go on the other side.
It's gonna knock Mando off the display. Demando will be somewhere,
but I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
Don't look at me.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
I don't know what else I had to say after
that that there was a dead silence.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
So I was like, uh, oh, okay, yeah, I thought sorry.
I thought you were going somewhere with your sentence.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
No, no, I literally was just that finding somewhere.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Okay. On that note, Jake, do you want to get
into our three bold predictions?

Speaker 3 (32:50):
Uh? Yeah, let's do it. Let's let it rip ladies
first choice.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
Okay, all right, all right, so I'm happy about that.
What I don't like going first. It feels ominous.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
I could go first if you want me to.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
No, and now I have to do it.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
There we go.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
But I will say I'm going to kind of cheat
a little bit. Oh I don't know if it's cheating,
but I'm going to take my same prediction that I
did last week with the four sacks, because here's the thing,
I messed up, and I'm going to take accountability for this.
So I predicted four sacks in the Week one episode,
and then on our recap episode, I was like, I

(33:31):
hit my prediction, but I didn't. They only got three.
We were wrong.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
So I thought you I said four.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
I said that the RAMS defense would get at least
four sacks against the Texans and they did not. They
did not get it, but I thought that they got four.
So okay, I'm gonna like put it back into the universe.
I'm gonna manifest it. I'm going to use that as
my first bold prediction for this week because I need
it to be right now. I need to correct that

(34:01):
wrong that I made, and I'm sorry that I lied
about it.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
You didn't lie.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
I know it was an accident. But I'm going to
use that again because, like we talked about earlier, I
just think this Titans offensive line is just not it
and I think that those tackles are going to give
cam Ward a really bad time. And I think that
Verse and Young are going to feast. We talked about,

(34:28):
and I know that that's kind of a popular opinion.
So I'm going to say that for my number one
bold prediction. For number two, I'll do that offensively. I'm
going to tow out Well touchdown. He wasn't really utilized
in Week one, but I just think that we're going
to see some deep plays to him this game. He's
going to get involved and I think it's going to
be uh productive. So I'm going to say two two

(34:50):
out weill touchdown. Third bold prediction. I really want to
do a special teams on, but I can't start the
season off acting up like that. I can't say block
pun this early on. I haven't earned it yet, right,
So let's say, all right, let's do another defensive one.
I'm gonna say so, I'm gonna say Kobe Turner has

(35:14):
two sacks of the four plus because I feel like
he was a little quiet in Week one in an
unusual way. So I think he's gonna bounce back this
week and we're going to see some action from Kobe Turner.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
Okay, I'm gonna go obviously. I already said Jordan Winnington
is going to score a touchdown. I don't think I
should put that in here.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
But.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
Let's go with uh forty four in the back were
wearing four. I think he's gonna pick off cam Ward
Kello Witherspoon. He has the most PBUs I think what
was the last four or five games, So there you go.
So he'll have an intercept, and then I'm gonna go

(36:02):
with Hmmm, I'm gonna go with Byron Young. I'm gonna
this is a combined thing. So the Rams will have
six sacks, matching what the Broncos had on cam Ward,
Byron Young will have half of them.

Speaker 1 (36:20):
That is bold. Yes, I thought I was going crazy
with the Kobe Turner.

Speaker 3 (36:25):
Keep imagine that.

Speaker 2 (36:26):
It's like everyone's talk about Jered versus Byron Young's coming
into Week three against the Eagles and he's got four
sacks already.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
I mean nuts, Yeah, I mean, hey, he had a
good Week one. I mean I want to be surprised
by it. Someone in the comment uh comments said punt return.
I just I can't do a special team's bold prediction
like that this early on in the season. It feels
like it feels like then I'm it's too early, and
then I'm gonna overshoot it, you know what I mean,

(36:52):
Like I have to save the crazy shit for later on.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
You gotta like, you gotta feel it, you know, Like
I like when I woke up and I was like,
I'm gonna say, there's gonna be a block punt.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
This is Jake's favorite story to bring.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
Up because it makes no I why did I think that? Why?

Speaker 2 (37:13):
I just woke up and I was like, there's gonna
be a block punt. Michael Hoyt, I remember it like
it was yesterday it's just so bizarre.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
You should find the clip of you giving that prediction,
and you should like pin it on your social media.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Oh, we have it somewhere that I turned it into it,
you know me, I turned it into a short years ago.
I think it was like two years ago. I still
remember Mark Sanchez not being able to talk during it,
like he I think we had a block kemp or
he just said gibberish and it was the funniest thing ever.

(37:48):
And then the guys like Cobblely comes in, He's like,
we have a blocked punt. It's like, all right, whatever
you just said. That's not even English. Now.

Speaker 3 (37:59):
I remember that like it was yesterday. All right.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
So here's the je tuition, right because I said there'd
be a block punt and there was two years ago,
so we're gonna count that. And clearly now je intuition
is a thing. So let's say we already have six
sacks and Byron Young being half of them. We have
a Jordan Winnington touchdown, but not with this segment. Just

(38:25):
in general, I feel like he's gonna score. I don't
feel like that's bold enough. We haveing Akello Witherspoon interception.
I don't feel like we have enough for the offense.
So I'm going to say we are going to get hmm,

(38:45):
give me one hundred fifty plus. Well, it's not even
a bold prediction, all right, I'm gonna I'm just gonna
say Whittington goes for I'm gonna say Whinnington goes for
eighty plus yards and the touchdown.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
Coin.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
I was going to say something about Pokin a Kua,
but like, the only way that's bold is if really, yeah,
I think he's going to go for two hundred and
fifty yards.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
Well you were about to say one fifty. I thought
you were about to say nakula. I was like, dude,
like is that bold at this point?

Speaker 2 (39:13):
No, that's like basically what you should expect with him,
Like he's the best receiver in the NFL right now.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (39:20):
Yeah, hey, I would love to see Jordan Whittington have
a big game.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
Eighty eight problems, baby, eighty.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
Eight problems, but a touchdown won't be one, hopefully.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
You know.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
No, I don't like that.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
I don't like that. As soon as it came.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
I don't know why I've been I called him eighty
eight problems the first time, Like I was, I don't
know it just I thought it stuck. I even put
it in the thumbnail for my video on Jordan Whittington.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
I don't know. So we have our bold predictions out there.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
What's your score prediction for the game.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
My score prediction for this game is that the Rams
win twenty four to ten. Okay, is very fair? Yeah,
I think it's a very fair score prediction. Yeah, guys,
I know it was cringe.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
I mean, you'll live it down. It's all okay, I
will I though I didn't. It didn't move me one millimeter.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
You're good, Yeah, I was, you know what. Let me
workshop it and then when we do the recap episode,
I'll be like Jordan winning win.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
I feel like this, just this Whittingham thing, This is
definitely Alex reading the comments section and knowing how people
spell his name, just like Matthew Sandford, Karen Williams. We
need Kyraen needs to like get the hair cut at
this point with the way he's always called Karen and

(40:55):
then McVeigh everyone spells it like sligh.

Speaker 3 (40:58):
You've already know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Could you imagine if Kien shows up like you know,
when they do the fit walks before the games. If
he had on the Karen wig, he.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
Should just for fun, just just one time, you know.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
If Karen you're watching this, I'm sure Alexis wants to
say a lot more than just this, but yeah, put
on the Karen wig.

Speaker 1 (41:20):
Yeah, just just do it, you know, take back the narrative,
you know, for everyone making the typos.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
Yeah, that's hilarious.

Speaker 1 (41:31):
Yeah, I think I'll do a better bit next week
with the Whittington.

Speaker 3 (41:37):
Thank you, Matthew, Thank you Matthew. So he's calling you
a chicken.

Speaker 1 (41:46):
I know, but I don't know what that comment was
in reference to. I know, listen, I'm not denying that
I'm a chicken about something, but I need to know
the context.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
I think it was the bold prediction you weren't going
to do that you decided to do.

Speaker 1 (42:02):
Oh got it?

Speaker 2 (42:04):
Oh no, no, it was I'm not going to do
a special teams prediction that.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
I think that's what it was. Oh yeah, it happens.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
See this is why I love the audience. Look at this,
This is exactly what I'm talking about. You spell it
like it's a damn sleigh. It's oh god, it's hilarious.

Speaker 1 (42:28):
Hi, listen, do I not drop bars every week?

Speaker 3 (42:32):
I will.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
I will tell you right now, you have twenty four
to ten, I got twenty three to thirteen. I just
don't I know. People are going to be chomping at
the bit for the Rams to be this offense. It
scores thirty plus and I told you they would, But
I don't feel like they're going to do it in
this game. I think they just want to get out
with a win, go back, prepare, and get ready for

(42:57):
business against Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (42:59):
That's what I think.

Speaker 2 (43:00):
So could be wrong, like they could freaking drop forty
for all I know, But I just I'm gonna be
on the safe side here. I think it's twenty three
thirteen and I think they're uh. I think they're going
to be in control of this game the majority of it,
and if it is a blowout, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (43:19):
That the offense is going to be the reason. I
think it's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (43:22):
Cam Ward absolutely just ran into a brick wall, and
there's a chance he's gonna do that. They This defense
has been so damn dominant. Man, It's it's crazy, It
truly is. You know, will the defense keep up their
dominance in Nashville was the title, and honestly, I think so.

(43:44):
I honestly didn't know if I want to give thirteen
points to the Titans. I mean, they kept CJ. Stroud
outside of the fifteen, you know, like they just they've
been insane. So I think they're going to continue that.
But we'll see how they manage Tony Powler a lot better.
I think, a much better running back than Nick Chubb
in twenty twenty five. Nick Chubb maybe three years ago.

(44:06):
Now we're talking a completely different game. But we'll see.
I mean, if Joe Mixon played, how different do you
think that Texans game goes like a fully healthy Joe Mixon.
I think it's a little different, to be fair. So
we'll see, but it's a good test. Any final thoughts
before we wrap this thing up.

Speaker 1 (44:25):
No final thoughts other than you know, someone in the
comments said, we'll show enough to win and that's all
that matters. I agree. I agree, And what matters is
the win.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
Yeah, and Deuce Falco appreciate the twenty I repeat, if
Nate Landman shows up again, I'm getting a Landman jersey.

Speaker 3 (44:48):
That is a very I'm waiting for the contract.

Speaker 2 (44:51):
Extensions because he's already one of my favorite players and
I've only watched him for one game, didn't even watch
him in preseason. They were just like he's our starter,
how you know, Yeah, Nolan, you know we might have
to bring back the Mob Squad at this point.

Speaker 1 (45:11):
I the Mob Squad makes sense based on some of
the other players nicknames like Kingpin and everything. Yeah, I
just feel like you gotta like it. Just it's so
it's it belongs to that group. I that's my Mob
Squad with like you know, the Aaron Donald and the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (45:30):
That's fair.

Speaker 1 (45:31):
Like that feels unless it turns into like a situation,
you know with Seattle where they've always got the Legion
of Boom right, Yeah, I mean they just keep the
same name.

Speaker 3 (45:40):
But I'd say Locke Angels.

Speaker 2 (45:42):
But I feel like we've already gone through that, Like
people have already said that. Yeah, people were saying that
when they got nikel, Robie Coleman and Peters and and
Taleb and then they were saying it when they had
Jalen Ramsey and Darius Williams. Like yeah, they've been saying
Lock Angels for a minute now.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
Grateful one year, right, but give me, give me some time.
I want to put some effort into this. I'll think
of something.

Speaker 2 (46:06):
Yeah, the brick wall, No.

Speaker 1 (46:10):
No, it's got to be. It's got to be a
play I think on like the Rams or Los Angeles
will workshop it.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
Yeah, I kind of you just kind of spark something
in my head because I'm a big Spider Man fan,
and you mentioned Kingpin, And of course I don't know
if I was the first for the nickname, like because
I'd never heard him called that. I just said it
right when he was drafted, and then it stuck and
then a lot of Rams fans went around with it.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
But and now he calls himself that.

Speaker 2 (46:41):
But I feel like we got to do a play
on Kingpin, like the Sinister six type vibe, you know
what I mean, Like, well, you've.

Speaker 1 (46:48):
Got you've got Kingpin, you've got Agent zero, you got
the eight, like it is giving Verry James Bond esque. Right,
you've got Kingpin, you've got Agent zero, you've got V eight,
you know, like the car right, yeah, you got the
conductor a symphony. It is giving very like British spy

(47:08):
film vibes.

Speaker 3 (47:09):
It is, uh, you'd have to like.

Speaker 1 (47:14):
Yeah, not it's something guys of like something in that.

Speaker 2 (47:18):
So who would be the Sinister six, right, because you
would have Kingpin, you would have Conductor, V eight, Agent zero.
That's only four puna matata is that?

Speaker 3 (47:37):
I don't know? That's five and then.

Speaker 1 (47:40):
Five and then well you can put Josiah Stewart.

Speaker 2 (47:47):
So is that just the Is that the defensive front
or we I just think the Sinister six is fire.

Speaker 1 (47:54):
I think the Sinister six is a defensive.

Speaker 3 (47:56):
Front, okay, because I like it?

Speaker 1 (47:59):
Core yeah, or four, that's what I would call the
I would call the core four.

Speaker 3 (48:04):
Everyone uses the Core four.

Speaker 1 (48:05):
Though, Okay, well whatever, The Core four of the Sinister
six would be Brandon Fisk, Kobe Turner, Jared Vus.

Speaker 3 (48:14):
Byron Young.

Speaker 2 (48:16):
Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna say Tyler, Tyler the Destroyer, David,
Oh yeah, ty Davis. Honestly, I don't know. Wasn't it
what was the.

Speaker 1 (48:31):
Feeling British spy film vibes? I can't shake it now?

Speaker 3 (48:34):
The four it is interesting, isn't it?

Speaker 2 (48:36):
Is?

Speaker 1 (48:37):
So V eight, Agent zero, Kingpen and the Conductor. Like sorry,
I'm thinking of a spy movie.

Speaker 2 (48:44):
So technically we could go with the Sinister seven and
here's why, because it actually is a thing. And I
was wondering. I was like, you know what, I feel
like I've heard of the Sinister seven before. So the
Sinister seven was apparently is it the new Sinister six?

(49:08):
I don't remember, but I kind of like the Sinister six.
It sounds better, honestly. All right, this is what we're
gonna do. So we got the Sinister six verse fisk
Byron Young, Kobe Turner, right, Poona Ford. These are all starters, correct,

(49:32):
So the guy in the middle of Nate Landman, that's
your sinister six.

Speaker 1 (49:41):
But that would be seven?

Speaker 3 (49:43):
No, wait, did I just name six people? Hold on,
there's no way I named six people? Just now? Did
you not just name no?

Speaker 2 (49:51):
Verse fisk Byron Young, Poona Ford verse fist Byron Young, Afford,
Kobe Turner, Landman, six.

Speaker 1 (50:08):
Is it? Chat? Is that right? I could have sworn
that we were at six.

Speaker 3 (50:13):
Yeah, the math math and all okay.

Speaker 1 (50:16):
But last time, and then we're gonna.

Speaker 2 (50:19):
Yep fisk mm hmm Byron Young, poon Afford, Kobe Turner,
Nate Lamon, Sinister.

Speaker 3 (50:33):
Six. All right, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (50:39):
And then and then when more people get involved.

Speaker 3 (50:42):
Well, now I feel bad we're leaving Omar out.

Speaker 1 (50:46):
Then maybe we don't use a number. Just call it,
you know, the Sinister Squad. No, no, no, that kind
of takes the juice out of it. Call it the
Sinister Front.

Speaker 2 (50:59):
No, the citizen or six, because I think people like
when things relate back to something that they care about.

Speaker 1 (51:08):
All right, you know, well we'll let We'll let everyone

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
