Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, guys, welcome back to Downtown Rams. As always,
I'm Alexis Kraft. Join here with my co host Jake
ellen Bogan, and we are coming to you live on
this Tuesday night for a special double header episode. We
will be recapping the Rams win over the Indianapolis Colts
this past Sunday and previewing our Thursday night matchup against
the San Francisco forty nine Ers. So we've got a

(00:24):
special double feature for you here. Jake is actually going
to be at the Thursday night football game, yes, forty
nine ers, so that is going to be We've got
such a tight like timeline here for us in this
show because I think Jake and we're figuring this out
live on air. Are we recording the recap episode of

(00:47):
the forty nine ers late Friday? Right, because you'll be
home Friday?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Yes, so I will.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
I'll be home Friday after a long day literally five
am flight, and I won't get home until like six thirty.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
Yeah, that's you know what. That's right.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
We talked about this because you're kind of getting back
Friday and then Saturday morning I leave for New York City.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
So yeah, yep.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
So this week is like kind of crazy. So but
it kind of works out in a weird way that
the Rams play Thursday night football for us, Yeah, because
then we don't have to do like work around our
schedules too much. But yeah, so we we're going to
talk about that, but first we're going to talk about
the win over the Colts at so far this past

(01:29):
Sunday where the Rams on twenty seven to twenty Jake,
you and I both predicted a Rams win. We both yes,
felt good about the team going against Indy even though
Indy was.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Three and seven. By the way, we were we nailed it.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
We did we Yeah, we were pretty good. You had
some pretty good predictions, which we'll get into, uh with
our bold predictions as well. But yeah, overall, Jake, I
thought that this game, there's a lot of good that
came for this game. But I think, as is story
with the Rams, it's like frustrating wins, right. It's we
watch some of these games where we win kind of

(02:06):
by the skin of our teeth when it doesn't really
feel like we needed to win by the skin of
our teeth. Especially this game against the Colts. I personally
feel like it could have been a higher scoring game.
For both teams.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
We'll talk about that.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
The Colts obviously had a couple plays where they really
shot themselves in the foot I'm thinking about, and I Mitchell,
God bless them. But as a Rams fan, thank you.
You know they had a play where they had ten
defensive players in the field, which you didn't find out
till after the game. So Colts did a lot wrong.
Rams did a lot right. And I think that the

(02:41):
Rams almost kind of like shot themselves in the foot,
which we'll talk about a little bit. But Jake, what
were your overall thoughts on this game against the Colts
and what.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Did you like?

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah, So, I mean the way I see it is this.
I understand people are going to look at this like
this was a disappointing game, and I get it right.
It was disappointing because you expected the Rams to come
in to so far and beat the Colts to a
bloody pulp. But I had also said the Colts are legit.
They're my number four teams still in the power rankings,

(03:16):
So I was never sleeping on this team, and the Rams,
I thought, looked no different than the Philadelphi Eagles. Finding
a way to win against the Rams. Good teams just
find ways to win, right, That's always preached to us.
When the Rams blow a game against a good team,
they're always well, good teams find a way to win. Well,
the Rams found a way to win. And you can
say what you will about Aden I Mitchell fumbling out

(03:39):
of the end zone, But at the same time, I
don't think people ever bring up how the Rams it
was a giveaway. I mean it was unforced error. Kyram
Williams was given a handoff way too high, wasn't able
to actually have possession of it. Then he gets decked
and they get a fumble. And they got lucky too
because Stafford dove and had the ball and it scored

(04:00):
it out and jumped in the air and they ended
up you know, recovering it and that fumble puts them
right in the red zone. So there were some giveaways
as well on the Rams side of things. But I
thought the Rams played a really sound football game. Aside
from that, you know, I think the offense still has
a lot of work to do, But that's the good thing.
They're three and one. They haven't really had to suffer

(04:23):
too much pain. Despite the fact the offense isn't where
they want it to be, And keep in mind, even
though the offense isn't where they want it to be,
it's still a very good offense. It's still a explosive offense.
It's still an offense that is up there leading the
league in explosives. It's up there in terms of scoring.
I mean, they're putting up points. You know, it's gonna

(04:44):
get better. I do think Sean mcvay's lack of utilization
the run game is really starting to bother me. Though
Kyle Williams have the same amount of carriers as Blake
Korum for most of the game, I don't really understand
what we're doing at that point. So yeah, I had
issue with that, But I think the defense, See this
is the thing. I think the thing that the Rams

(05:06):
are really struggling with. The two struggles are in the
cornerback room and left guard, both of which have injuries.
So there's an actual reason Ovulous should be back Thursday.
If he's not, I'll be back the next game. He
was active, they decided not to go with him, and yeah,
that's kind of that. But you know what I would

(05:28):
say in regards to the cornerback room, and we're going
to talk about it, But I mean, at some point
or another, the Rams are going to have to consider
bringing in new fresh blood. And I'm not just talking
about a Trey Brown. I'm talking about you know. I
know Cam Smith was released today or wave today by
the Dolphins, a former second round pick. I think you
and I both liked him in the draft. That's somebody

(05:48):
that I would be intrigued with, right. I do think
that the Rams are going to have to make a
decision here because what I'm seeing on film is that
Kobe Durant can still cut and he's very good he is,
and Darius Williams isn't bad, Like he's got his moments.
He looked really good in Run Support, which is not

(06:09):
something you normally say. But he had a really keen
and critical play I posted on Twitter, you know, where
he was able to kind of seal off Jonathan Taylor's
show for him towards you know, the boundary, and then
of course Cam Curle is able to finish the play.
But really, and I know it's going to sound like
I'm ganging up on him, and I like him a lot,

(06:29):
but Emmanuel Forbes is not ready to be out there
and starting quarterback for a super Bowl caliber team. Alexis,
He's just not. It's a problem, it really is. That
play on Adan I Mitchell never should have happened. That
should have been an interception. That was not a beautifully
thrown ball by Daniel Jones. I'm not trying to pick

(06:50):
on Daniel Jones. I thought he played okay. And I
still believe in Daniel Jones. I think he's legit. I
think he's figured out his woes. But that bothered me. Alexis.
He was in position and he's got to pick that off.
You're six foot two, you got all that length and everything,
you had, all those interceptions return for touchdowns in college.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Well you know that.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
To me, that's a mental woe. That's not you know
that you have the physicality. No one's sitting here and saying,
you know, Emmanuel Forbes doesn't have length, he doesn't have size,
he doesn't have speed. Emmanuel Forbes looks the part. He's
one of the more talented players, regardless of position, players

(07:30):
on this roster, pure talent, raw talent. But Emmanuel Forbes
is absolutely, without a doubt in my mind, in his
own head, and we saw that and that just can't happen.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Yeah, and I definitely I want to say, You've made
some really good points here, and I want to kind
of quickly go through all these before we get to
the forty nine ers, because I think that some of
these problems that we saw against the Colts are stuff
that we've seen, I think, throughout the first four games
of the season, and that we are probably continue to
see unless the Rams correct them. And on a short

(08:05):
week there's really no telling and if they're going to
make all the necessary changes they need to before the
game on Thursday night. But starting in order here, I
want to talk about the run game a little bit
because you and I both have talked about this before.
It was infuriating the way that the run game was
utilized against Indianapolis. At halftime, Kyraen Williams had seventy eight
yards I believe, on like nine carries. I mean, he

(08:28):
was having his way with the Colts.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
He just was.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
He was running a lot better than Blake Koram was.
Now listen, I think you and I have both been
very honest about the differences between Kien Williams and Blake Koram.
Kyle Williams is running back one for a reason. You
said this he can do a lot more than Blake
Koram can. It's not a knock against Blake Korm It's
just they're two very different types of running backs.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
And what we saw.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Jake in this game is they gave Koram some opportunities
to try to run inside and it did work. Where
I think Kien has the ability to go inside, he
can go outside, He can run a couple of different schemes,
and he is more patient of a runner I think
at this point in his career as well. Which if
you saw a lot of those Kyen Want runs against Indianapolis,

(09:15):
a lot of them involved pretty good patience. It wasn't
just that he had some really good lanes open up
for him with the run block. I mean, I think
of the one where he pointed at buying them, right.
You think of how he went to one side and
then went to the other pointed, which I was scared
he was actually gonna find for I don't think.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
You have to get scared at this point, because you can't.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Yes, right, So I saw that well, right, I saw
him point to him, and I was like celebrating, and
then all of a sudden, I was like, oh man,
they might find.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Him for that, but Idol fans complaining that they they
got penalized for the stepover. I'm sorry, the iverson stepover
is literally a taunting penalty all day, every day.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Yeah, it just that I thought, s well, I thought
that he was going to get fined. I have not
heard that he has. I know that it's Tuesday. That
might be a Wednesday thing. But anyways, still fun, still
a highlight reel. But I just think you know what

(10:16):
we saw in the run game. Listen, it just felt
like they were forcing Blake Korum in there, and every
time they forced him in there, the plays died. And
I'm not saying that as a knock on Quorum. It
was just the flow of the game. Sometimes you have
to feed the hot hand, and Kyroen is a lot
more experienced and as of right.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
Now, he can do a lot more on the football field.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
So let alone the fact that he's got seventy eight
yards at halftime, he could have easily had one hundred
yards at halftime had they actually left him in there.
And then what he did alone in the passing game
or sorry the yeah, the pass protecting game. This game
was crazy, Oh yeah, helped just crazy and that's why
you need to leave him on the field more. And

(10:54):
I felt like McVeigh kind of got that towards the
end of the game. But it was really frustrating to
watch again against Indianapolis where it felt like we could
be putting more points on the board when we already
have these red zone struggles and then you're having a
really really hot run game and then you just take
Kira Williams off the field. It totally killed the momentum
each time. So it's really frustrating to watch. And that

(11:16):
just speaks to I think kind of what we've been
saying about the run game this season, just kind of
it gets hot and then he just stops it, and so.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
It just that was.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Frustrating and I think that's something that has to be
fixed going forward. I don't know if you have any
thoughts on that.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Yeah, I just think I want Sean to learn from this.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
I understand you want to get Blake korm involved early on.
Don't let Kyra Williams, who you told to add more weight,
which he did, That's why he's running through arm tackles
a lot easier than before. Let him wear down the defense.
And then if you want blake Korm to be kind
of that change of pace at the end of games.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
That's how I would utilize him.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
But I understand it's a fine line between, you know,
letting Kyron run around like crazy and then running him
into the ground and giving him some time off and whatnot.
I understand you want to get him some time because
if Kyen's out there the entire time, he's not gonna last.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
He's just not.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
You know, last year he played a ton, the fourth
most in RAMS history for snaps. So I just think,
like I get that there's a there's a good reason
behind it, but you just you can't have it, you
know what I mean, You just can't. Kyron has to

(12:43):
get more than thirteen carries. Blake Korm should not have
nine carries if Kyen's only getting thirteen, especially when Kyraen
Williams is averaging five point nine yards per carry to
two point three. So yeah, I I don't know. I
think that that that's the thing when it comes to
those two. And I'll echo when my dad said, and

(13:07):
I brought it up on Jay Live, and I saw
some people bring it up in the comments section. Sean
McVay seems to move away from what's working because he's
anticipating that a team is going to figure it out.
So before the team has actually figured out how to

(13:27):
stop Sean McVay, he's already pivoting to another thing. And
that's his biggest issue. Sean just can't put the pedal
to the medal and be like Kyle Shanahan when they
used to just dominate the Rams in all those primetime
games where Kyle Shannon would be like, We're going to
run the ball forty times and I don't even care
at all, so you know, and that's the thing is like,

(13:51):
why should I I got Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey.
If you can't stop them, that's your fault. There's no
rule out there that says I can't run the ball
forty times, no rule at all. So if they can't
stop Kiren, and then eventually they're gonna have a hard
time stopping Blake Korum. We talked about this against the Eagles.
Why take your foot off the gas? And that's where

(14:12):
I think Sean McVay is like, well, I'm anticipating them
figuring it out and then stopping. No, if they can't
stop them, wait until they actually do before pivoting, don't
get off of something that's working, and definitely don't do
it in a close game. That's a big issue the
Rams keep doing in close games. I'll tell you a

(14:33):
perfect example. The La Chargers lost to the Giants because, honestly,
you want to know the reason they lost. They had
Omari and Hampton who had twelve carries for over one
hundred and twenty yards in a touchdown, and they were like, hey,
justin Herbert, I know it's a twenty one and eighteen
ball game, it's very close. How about let's just have
you heave it down the field with no time to

(14:55):
throw because Joe Alt went down by the way. See,
that's just not how it should be. Like, I don't understand.
I think this has been something I learned this when
I was young. When it's a close game, run the football. Yeah,
when you're when you're down, there's a deficit. Okay, now
you have to throw when it's a closed game. Then

(15:15):
you're looking at thirteen carries for Kiraen Williams when he's
averaging five point nine to carry.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
What are you actually doing?

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (15:23):
So yeah, yeah, it was frustrating.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
I mean it was frustrating, I know, not just for us,
but you know everyone, you know, I know online during
games we're both on Twitter, slash x, you know, whatever
you guys want to call it, and I know everybody
was just kind of like, what are you doing?

Speaker 4 (15:40):
And I was looking through.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
You know, for you page, you know, tweets of people
who aren't even Rams fans, who are like Kiri Williams
Fantasy owners, and they're like, why are you taking your
running back off the field? Who has seventy eight yards halftime?
He's averaging at one point he was averaging like six
points something yards of carry, and they're like, what is
going on? But so, yeah, it's just fresh and I
think again it just speaks to kind of the offensive

(16:02):
struggles that we have of like sticking with what's working
and feeling like we're kind of doing too much. And
you know, obviously a win is a win and we're
happy about that, and just as some of these games
are closer than I think that they should be, and
you know, you come off you know, during this Colts game,
we were just fresh off that lost Philadelphia where this

(16:23):
issue also felt like it was just the same thing
where we talked about why are we abandoning the run games,
so then to see it happen again with Indianapolis is
obviously frustrating. But like you said, I mean, this is
something I think that Sean will note going forward. I
think that when they look back on the tape, it's
going to be very obvious, like maybe we should have
utilized the run game a little bit more. That seemed

(16:45):
to really really be working for us.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
So we'll see.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
It's a short week, but I expect going against San
Francisco hopefully they'll utilized run game a little bit more,
because yeah, that was pretty pretty fun. While it was fun,
well lasted, you know, to watch it against Idiodappolis, it's
a good.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
I mean, it's not the best run defense in the world,
but it's not a bad one, you know, so to me,
it just goes to show you. And by the way,
all the metrics would say this is the second best
run blocking operation out there. So this run game is sustainable.
This isn't like a fluke.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
So yeah, well, so I think we're in agreement in
the run game, and I think, you know, from what
I'm seeing people agree as well. But yeah, any any
closing thoughts on in on the game against India before
we get into San Francisco forty nine ers.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Yeah, I'm glad, uh glad they got Pooka, you know, yeah,
they got to involved.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
Well, I want to point that out.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
Yeah, well, let's talk about to two.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Yeah, because you predicted it this week. We've both been
kind of waiting for it. In episodes. I feel like
we do this like flirtatious thing with the idea of
a two two out well bomb where we're like, oh,
this is gonna be the week, this is gonna be
the week, and then we finally got it, and it
was so glorious. Jake, how what was your reaction when

(18:17):
you saw that to two out? Well?

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Well, I was with my family and friends and I
was just like, would it be funny if they just
throw a bomb into two two out?

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Wel right now? And that's how it happened, Like they're
just like everyone just stopped.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
And then the play happened, and then you know, you
just see Matthew Stafford and they're like, oh my god,
they're going to two and then he caught it and
everyone's like, oh my god. So yeah, it was it
was cool. I wish I had it on video. I
tend to do that because I can kind of see
where they're going with that. It felt like they were
just kind of sizing them up all game for that play.

(18:53):
And if that's his role, so be it. I personally
hate it. I think he's more than just a deep threat.
But there are ways to do it. You just have
to be consistent. If you do that three to four,
you know, times a game, then he's Gabe Davis in
the Buffalo Bills offense the first time he was there,
and that is a valuable player in this league. So
you know that, that was just my take on that.

(19:15):
Cam Curl's two interceptions was huge. You know, Jared Verse,
everything that you know he was able to do in
this game really impressed with Jared Verse. He just continues
to get better and better and better. Defensive line as
a whole was great. This is the best safety room
in the NFL. I'm gonna say it. I don't care
Quinton Lake, right, Cam Curl, cam Kinchins, Jaylen McCullough. This

(19:42):
this safety room has everything. They have everything like if
you have a fighter, like a UFC fighter, right, there's
so many different ways. There's Brazilian Jiu jitsu. There's the strikers,
the kickboxers, right, the wrestlers, like the old they are
all of that.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
They have.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
They check every single box. I have every single style.
They have every club in the bag. If you if
you're a golfer out there, you.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
Like that analogy.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
The point being is they have a utility guy for
any situation on the field. I don't know how many
teams in the in the league can say that the
Rams safety room is absolutely gnarly. And I didn't even
mention Josh Wallace, who they're very high on as well.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
I mean, just seeing what Quinton Lake alone has progressed
into and the type of player he is is just
so fun to watch. Oh yeah, Like it's just this
Rams defense really is fun to watch. I know that
they aren't perfect. I know there's obviously concerns a corner,
but like when you really look at you know, the
chemistry that's developed in between these guys and what they've

(20:45):
been able to do, and like when they get hot,
it's really fun to watch. And I thought that all
things again, Indianapolis was three and oh going against the Rams,
and I thought that this defense did a really really
good job. I mean, I think the story of this
Rams season so far is the defense stepping up when
the offense isn't at times right. I mean, I think
most of the struggles that we talk about, minus obviously

(21:06):
the quarterback situation, is this Rams offense and scoring and
putting points on the board, but defense gets it done.
I mean Jared vers I mean love having him on
the team. That defensive front looked really good against Indianapolis.
So that is something I think that we hopefully are
going to keep hot going into the forty nine Ers game, Jake,

(21:27):
that you will be at this Thursday night. Let's talk
about that because this is obviously a rivalry for us.
I think the forty nine Ers, it's comfortable to say
that they're the rams biggest rival in recent years. Not
a lot of love lost between the two fan bases,
between the teams. We always seem to be matching up

(21:50):
against them at important moments, and really right now it's
a very different tale between these two teams, Jake. The
forty nine Ers, it's weak fun going in a Week five,
are pretty beaten up, at least offensively. This is not
going to be the typical forty nine Ers offense that
we see Thursday night for the game, and so we'll

(22:12):
talk about that. You know, what, do you think.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
I'm going to pull.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Up the most recent injury report that I have, but
I'm pretty sure Jake. Their entire offense minus Christian McCaffrey
ironically is not their first string offense because Party is
most likely not going to be playing unless the new
updates come out in the past hour. But from what
I'm seeing, have you seen that?

Speaker 3 (22:37):
I gotta be honest with you, it doesn't matter if
perty or mac Jones plays.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
I don't think so either.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
But it's not just the Rams. I'm going to say
this right now. I don't think that there's a difference
right now. I think Parti's regressed significantly. I was just
talking about this with Jesse on his show and Behind
Enemy Lines, and he kind of agreed with me. I mean,
mac Jones has gotten better than where he was kind

(23:03):
of left off, and he looks good in the Kyle
Shanahan offense.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
But like what is Purdy ad that he doesn't that?

Speaker 3 (23:09):
I don't know. So I think they're kind of one
and the same right now. And I think the Rams
having gone against Jalen Hurts and Daniel Jones and CJ.
Stroud and cam Ward. I mean, they're used to going
up against mobile quarterbacks. I don't really think these guys
are going to offer anything that they haven't already seen.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
I agree, and I just think, I mean, I agree
with your point that either Purdy is out there or
mac Jones is out there. I don't know that there's
going to be that much of a difference for the Rams,
you know, defense. I think, if anything, I think it
just speaks to, you know, maybe chemistry between the quarterback
who's out there.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
And some of these guys.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
But again, I don't even know if that's fair because
so many people are injured that I don't know that,
you know, there's bigger issues they have than just not
potentially having their starting quarterback out there. The last that
I heard, Jake and I accidentally closed out of the tab.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
But I love doing that.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
I accidentally.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Right, that would have been tragic close out of this one.
Here it is, so I have the estimated injury report
from for the Rams and the forty nine ers, So
Juwan Jennings, Ricky Possol, Rock Party, Mac Jones actually yesterday

(24:36):
was on the injury report, but he was full. So
they are going to have at least quarterback too, But
that is actually pretty generous, I think for the offense.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
Yeah, it's only I don't know what's going on there.
I don't know who's going to play.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
You know.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
It, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
I mean, I do think it's a little bit ironic.
The McCaffrey is like the single starter that that he's
the one that's healthy because you've already got Kittle on
ir So I didn't even mention that they're already without
George Kittle, And yeah, I just do you have any
you know? My my prediction is going to be that

(25:21):
if the Rams can shut they're going to do I
think what they've done and most games leading up to
this one in Week five, I think you just have
to focus on shutting down the run, right because McCaffrey
with all especially with all these injuries, but just in
general star the offense, right, you you shut down Christian McCaffrey,
and you force Perdy or mac jones to have to

(25:42):
throw to these receivers. I think I think that's going
to be the way to do it.

Speaker 3 (25:50):
Yeah, I think really the only way the forty nine
ers can beat the Rams is if that pass rush
gets home and Stafford holds on the ball too long,
which I don't think he's gonna do or well, I
mean that could be a combination of that, and in

(26:11):
addition to that, the cornerbacks if and I don't know
if Emmanuel Forbes is gonna start. If he does, though
whoever is playing on whoever it is, I don't know
if it's Pierce saul Is Kendrick Bourne. I do think
DeMarcus Robinson will score a touchdown for the forty nine
ers because that just feels inevitable. Yeah, maybe DeMarcus Robinson

(26:34):
will will give Emmanuel Forbes fits. I don't know, but
that to me, that's where because I just think the
pass rush is gonna Connor Colby at left guard has
no chance none against these guys.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Is zero.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
Connor Colby against Bryden Fisk, Are you serious? And it's
like Trent Williams is not as bad as he was
week one, and he looks like Trent Williams of old
here and there, but he still has lost his step.
You could see it. And I don't care if he
has lost his step or not. Chris Shula will just

(27:10):
do what he did in this game against the Colts said,
you know what, if Bernard Ryman is scary against Jared Verse,
I'll mix things up and I'll put Jared Verse, you know,
have him line up and bowl over Tanner Bordolini, send
him into another millennium, right, That's what he did. So
you can move around Jared Verse. You can move around

(27:31):
Byron Young. I don't think they have enough here in
my opinion. I just don't think they have enough here
to stop the Rams pass rush. And then in addition
to that, I think the Rams offense is going to
look better this week.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
I just do.

Speaker 3 (27:47):
I think it's weird, like a short amount of time.
Shorter amount of time I think almost puts Sean McVay
in a better position. It's why with the Super Bowl
everybody was talking about how Sean McVay with two weeks
probably had the perfect game plan, overthought it and then
changed it at the last second. You want Sean mcvayh
on short rest, that's what you want. You don't want

(28:07):
Sean McVay to overthink it. He's a genius, but he's
his own worst nightmare. So that's what I would say there.
But they're not too many ways for the Niners. To
win this game. It could still be very close. It's
a division game, but and it's a short week. That said, though,
I just I think the Rams are about to roll.
I think they're about to beat the forty nine ers.
I think they're about to beat the Ravens without Lamar Jackson,

(28:30):
but I think they would have beat them with Lamar Jackson.
And I think they're gonna beat the Jaguars and going
to the buy at six and one, and then when
they come out of the buy, you're gonna see like
a Terrence Ferguson ready to go. And I think the
offense is going to be clicking and the defense is
just gonna get better. So that's kind of where I'm
at on this team right now.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
I agree. And you know, I think on this short week,
you know, offensively, I would really love them to make
those minor tweaks that we talked about from ye folts,
because it'll be it'll be fresh on their mind. Right
It's it's four days later, so you know, maybe you go, Okay,
maybe let's actually not abandoned the run game right against
San Francisco, or maybe okay, we utilized two too out,

(29:09):
Well let's do that again, maybe, you know, we saw
Tyler Higby get a little bit more involved. Maybe let's
try to do that, Let's try to diversify things a
little bit. So I think that you're right. I think
that it's going to prevent McVeigh from doing a lot
of the overthinking that he notoriously does, and everything that
could have been changed from Indianapolis is going to still

(29:30):
be fresh in the mind. So that's what I'm expecting
to happen. I'm really excited to see what they can do.
I think the defense is going to feast in a really,
really fun way against this forty nine ers offense, which
we would be remiss not to mention is very banged up,
but nevertheless, it's that's the way it goes. So I

(29:51):
think that, you know, we got to capitalize on opportunities
defensively get things done, and I think offensive leave we
can do the things that we talked about we should
have been doing against Indianapolis. I think it'll be really
fun and I expect big games, which I'm I'm like
leading us into our bold predictions. Jake, I tried to

(30:14):
do it smoother.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
Yeah, should we do it?

Speaker 4 (30:18):
Should?

Speaker 2 (30:18):
I try to?

Speaker 1 (30:19):
Should?

Speaker 4 (30:20):
I try to like get us there, quicker.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Well, we got uh, we got a super chat.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Oh, Jake slash Alexis as opposed to Jake and Alexis,
we got slash now. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Yeah, always enjoy your content.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Have you heard the Spanish call of T two's TD
It's awesome. I have, and I'm gonna do you one better.
Have you heard the Irish call of the DK metcalf touchdown.
That guy needs to call every play. Did you see that, Alexis?

Speaker 1 (30:56):
Yeah, I saw both. I did see the Spanish call
tooto touchdown.

Speaker 4 (30:59):
I did see that. Both of them were great.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
I love international calls. It's amazing. I absolutely love it. Yeah,
but we appreciate you, Joe.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
All right.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
So that said, we got sleeper who is today's sponsor.
And you guys are gonna want to click the link
in the description use the code JKB get one hundred
dollars deposit match up to one hundred dollars. And the
reason being is because this is a game where you
can make some money.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
That's right. I got some picks for you.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
You know, Matthew Stafford probably not the one that you want,
but Matthew Stafford point five yards is a gimme over
on sleeper. In addition to that, Kyron Williams nine and
a half receiving yards. He's been utilized more in the
passing game lately. I'm definitely gonna take more on that one.
I'm gonna take touchdown DeMarcus Robinson. We love the petty

(31:55):
revenge ATDs. I don't care what anyone says. They're so
easy to predict. Uh, DeMarcus Robinson will catch a touchdown
against the Rams. I'm gonna take Christian McCaffrey more on
his receiving yards.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
I think it's fifty something.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
I forget what it was, but we're gonna take Christian
McCaffrey more. I'm gonna go with more on to two Outwells.
I believe nine and a half receiving yards. Maybe that's
wishful thinking, but I don't know. It's it's early, like
it's a quick turnaround. Maybe Sean mcvagh doesn't forget about
two two outwell because it's not Sunday right, still has

(32:31):
him on his mind.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
Uh. So yeah, that's what I got.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
So yeah, thank God, be sure to check it out again.
JKB as the code.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
Yeah, So now we got our bold predictions.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
So I'll go first.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
You're going first. I like this last thing. I think
I'm doing pretty well right.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
Now, I know, so I'll go first.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
So bold predictions.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
My first one is Kyron Williams two touchdowns. He's been
robbed of a few these last few few games, some
like literally robbed called back because of penalties. So I
just feel like he's doing everything else in the field
right now, but getting the touchdowns. I think they're gonna
finally start utilizing the run game in the red zone,

(33:23):
and I think that he's gonna have success against the
forty nine ers. And also, Jake, you brought up the
receiving yards. He had that really cool flip play from
last year yes the forty nine ers, which was a
receiving touchdown. So I think he's gonna get two. I
think one will be receiving, one will be rushing, but
I'm gonna stick to just two. I don't care how
he gets them. That's gonna be my first prediction. Second prediction,

(33:48):
you know, I think we're gonna see Brandon Fisk two sacks.
I think that he's gonna have success like that. We
haven't seen a Fisk breakout game yet. He started off
the season a little bit in working through that. Now
he's back in there. So I think we're gonna see
Braden Fisk two.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Sacks country day, Country Days.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Yeah, it's just too good, right, The matchup is just
too good, and I think that he's gonna have success there.
Third prediction, Hmmm, I'm gonna say I think we're gonna
see Pokin a Kuo over one hundred yards.

Speaker 4 (34:23):
Receiving.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
I don't even know if that's a bold prediction anymore.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
I I feel like you have to call it bold
over one hundred yards, but like maybe we won't call
it bold. I just think he's gonna keep having, you know, success.
I think you look at I mean, he's the one
of the best receivers in the league right now, if
not the best. He's leading the league and receiving yards,
and he is Matthew Stafford's favorite target. So I have

(34:49):
no reason to think that that won't happen.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Yeah, I get that. I you got are you gonna
throw a bonus one like i'd last week?

Speaker 2 (35:01):
That worked out?

Speaker 1 (35:03):
I think a bonus prediction, I think Quentin Lake interception.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
Okay, I like that.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Because he's he's again kind of similar to the current thing.
It's like he's doing everything else. It's just this like
little thing that I feel like he hasn't gotten to
do yet.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Yeah, I I agree.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
I mean Cam had two and then I well, Kinchin's
almost had one too. So yeah, m you've been on
Kobe and Kobe of course. Yeah, huh yeah, I like
I like Lake getting one. I'm probably all right. First

(35:43):
prediction I'm gonna go.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
With.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
I'm gonna say, Pooka Nakua goes over one hundred and
seventy yards, Okay, I think he's gonna have one of
those two hundred yard performances.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
I'm just trying to get out in front of it
before it happens.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
It's probably gonna be in London though, knowing that's when
Cooper cub had the two hundred against the Bengals in
twenty nineteen. Uh, all right, give me two sacks from
Josiah Stewart, he puts his name out there on Thursday
night and bold prediction three. I'm gonna say we get

(36:29):
a Nate Landman punch out on Christian McCaffrey.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
Perfect and.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
Bold prediction here the bonus one, because we like bonuses,
I'm gonna say that their kicker who he's been. Okay,
Pinero is going to absolutely shank one. I just I

(36:57):
feel it. It's gonna not even come close.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
We'd love to see it, so we would.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
Yeah, I already told you I think DeMarcus Robinson's scoring
a touchdown for the forty nine ers. I couldn't tell
you if I wanted to, and I do want to.
I could not tell you who is scoring for the
ink for the Rams. Good lord, now I've got yeah
talking about the Yankees. The Yankees are on, but no,
I could not Well, I definitely couldn't tell you scoring

(37:28):
for the Yankees as well. But I really can't tell
you who's scoring for the Rams. There's just so many options,
all right, screw it. Davante Adams and Pooka Nakua. So
going back to my original prediction, they're both going over
one hundred and twenty five yards receiving.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
We would love to see it. There you go, And
again they're more than capable. I mean, for what we've
seen from them.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
Yeah, very well, could happen.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
I like it. I think Tay is going to roast
from what it sounds like.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
So well, let's get into our score prediction. Yeah, so
I am predicting a Rams win. We love that, and
I think the Rams and maybe this is a bold
prediction in itself. I think the Rams are gonna win
thirty four to thirteen.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Oh wow, that is a bold prediction.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
I'm i it is very bold because I just feel
like there's two ways that they can look at how
the offense ran against Indianapolis and I think and pray
that Sean McVay gets it. And I think we're going
to see the run game utilized a little bit more.
I think they're going to have a much more balanced offense.
And listen, it's the forty nine ers. They want to

(38:45):
make them suffer, and this team is injured. This forty
nine ers team is injured. We've been very honest about that,
We've been very fair, and I think this is an opportunity.
If the Rams play to their full potential, this could
be a very brutal game that they inflict. So I'm
saying thirty four to thirteen Rams.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
I am going to.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Let's say, all right, I want to believe that's gonna happen.
I'm trying to be somewhat realistic, So I'm gonna go
twenty seven to seventeen.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
I think more realistic.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
I think they're gonna be in the twenty seven to
thirty range most of the season this year. I think
that's where they're gonna live. So I definitely think we
can get comfortable with that. I mean, they should be
at this point a favorite in every game moving forward.
There's not really too many teams out there that I
think are better than the Rams, or should be considered
better than the Rams, So this is definitely not one

(39:40):
of those games. But I do think that they will cover.
I think it was like six and a half or whatever.
I've been seeing that, so yeah, I think they went
by ten, and I think it's gonna be like a
twenty seven to or excuse me, twenty to seventeen game.
I think it'll be close and and they'll score that

(40:01):
touchdown and kind of seal the deal. So that's kind
of how I see it. But I wouldn't mind to
see people don't get it there. You know there's some
people out there, Oh, I want it to be a
close game. Those are more fun in person. You know,
it's fun for me just scoring, and it's my team.
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
I think with the way that the Rams have played
this season is like we cannot afford to like leave
points off the board, you know, Like what we've seen
is like a lot of these games we step on
their neck and don't. Yeah, And someone in the chat
brought up a good point about how you know about
my prediction, like Sean McVay would never let them run
the score up. I agree. I just think that that's

(40:40):
not the way it should be against the forty nine
ers this Thursday. And I think that the Rams offense
really needs to have a statement game because we're just
too talented to keep doing what we've been doing, like again,
leaving points off the board, not getting it done in
the red zone. Sometimes you got to have a game
where you just prove to yourself that you can do it.

(41:00):
And I think that needs to be against our rival team,
the San Francisco forty nine ers, who historically there's a
lot of history there. I love historically, there's a lot
of history there. I was trying to think of a
better word for history, and I did, and then I
just use the same word twice.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
There's a lot of history.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
Historically, there's a lot of history there because of all
the history that we have with that team, you know, in.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
The historical context of the history.

Speaker 1 (41:27):
Yeah, just use in historical context. There's a lot of
history between these teams historically, so I think looking at
that history, we should oh keep that in mind. But no,
I just I think the moral of the story is.
I just think that the Rams need a game to
show themselves that they can continue to get it done offensively,

(41:48):
because they've been a little bit hot and cold, and
I think that they need to put together a full,
complete game. So do it Thursday night, do it on
primetime in front of the country against your rival.

Speaker 4 (42:01):
That seems right. That feels right to me.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
I agree.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
You know, it's funny they told me that, you know,
points don't matter.

Speaker 2 (42:11):
All that matters is the win.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
But then you look at all these power rankings and
they're like, oh, that's why you have the Lions ahead
the Rams, because there's no other rational explanation for the
Lions to ever be ready ahead of the Rams in
any power ranking. They got stomped on by the Packers,
and then they've beaten up on teams that have either
proven their bad or we didn't realize that they were
bad and now we do. So Ravens, so that I

(42:34):
do find kind of funny because like the Lions stomped
on like the Browns at home, and they're ahead of
the Rams and like all the power rankings. It's silly
to me, absolutely silly. I had to point that out
because it's just like, ah, so dumb. Anyway, Uh yeah, anyway,
that's all I got. Oh we got super chats. Don't

(42:55):
want to forget those, duce Falco, appreciate the twenty. I
want the Rams to stop being nice and get fifty
against the winers five in a row.

Speaker 4 (43:04):
Hey, I agree.

Speaker 1 (43:06):
And it's not even like as they're saying, like it's
it's just like, if you're going to do it, it's
against a team doing it against your rival. And I
think the Rams need to prove not just to us,
but to themselves that they can have a complete game,
because they've not had one this season, regardless of if
they won the games or not, they've they need to

(43:26):
do it.

Speaker 3 (43:27):
So I tell you right now, there's one issue I
have about this week, and it's the fact that this
was the perfect time to wear those freaking midnight mode
uniforms and they're not wearing them, but they're wearing them
when you'll be there, So that's kind of cool.

Speaker 4 (43:43):
Yep, they are wearing them when I'll be there.

Speaker 3 (43:45):
You know they are doing it during like a one
o'clock p at Pacific time game, because that makes sense. Yeah,
midnight mode, but it's broad daylight. Yeah, but then again,
the Buffalo bills are when they're all ice uniforms, like
the white out, like snow in early October. So whoever

(44:07):
doesign I don't know who like it just didn't make
any sense. I don't know who knows. Matthew, Come on, Jake,
get with the damn program. I would assume this is
talking about the Yankees or you know, botching that. But anyway,
appreciate you, Matthew, but yeah, that's gonna do it.

Speaker 2 (44:26):
Lex. Do you have any final thoughts before we head
on out of here.

Speaker 1 (44:30):
I don't, just that it's very exciting to see us
play on primetime, so I'm excited that this will be
a Thursday night game. Jake will be at the game,
so if anyone's gonna be there, make sure you message
Jake on the interwebs and let him know. We will
be back late Friday night, probably around nine Eastern time,

(44:56):
to record the recap of this game, and then we
have like our mini by because we're on Thursday night,
and so yeah, I'll be in New York City, Jake
will be recovering from his trip, and then we'll be
back to preview the Ravens game a week from Friday.

Speaker 4 (45:12):
Big guys.

Speaker 1 (45:13):
Until then, as always, if you like what you hear,
please like and subscribe. You can follow us some social
media at Downtown Rams. You can follow me on Twitter
slash x at the Alexis Kraft. You can follow Jake
at JK Bogan and guys, we'll be back Friday night.
