We are thrilled you're joining us today. Let's talk about
(01:23):
some we all take for granted until it starts to fade.
That's our vision, that twenty twenty sight you rely on
every single day. That might be slipping away faster than
you think. And the worst part, you may not even
notice it until it's too late. New research reveals that
(01:43):
common habits, from scrolling in the dark to skipping those
leafy greens, could be silently stealing your sight, one pixelated
day at a time. Today, we're gonna look at the
hidden dangers threatening your precious eyesight. We'll expose how blue
light isn't just disrupting your sleep, it could be accelerating
(02:07):
macular degeneration. Will reveal why that harmless vitamin defficiency it
might be setting you up for cataracts decades early, and
most shocking, will uncover how everyday medications could be drying
out your eyes in damaging your retinas without warning. But
(02:30):
here's the good news. Vision loss isn't inevitable. And later
this hour, we have a special guest who will share
ways to help your vision for years to come. And
trust me, this is information that you will want to hear,
so stick around for that. Now, here's where you come in.
(02:51):

(03:55):
powerpacked hour ahead, from I supplement breakthroughs to food that
can sharpen your night vision, So go ahead and grab
that carrot and put down that blinding phone screen for
just a minute and listen up. Let's dive right into
it again. I want to talk about ie health in
macular degeneration and how maybe you can protect your vision.
(04:18):
It's a topic that's that's about the windows to our soul,
our eyes, specifically macular degeneration. That's a leading cause of
vision loss and it creeps up silently but doesn't have
to win the battle for you. I want to unpack
what the condition really is, who's at risk, and most importantly,
(04:41):
how you can fight back with science based natural strategies.
And trust me, by the end you'll see this issue
in a whole new light. So, folks, I want you
to picture this. You're reading a book and suddenly the
words in the center of the page blur, all the
edges stay clear, or maybe you're seeing faces and they
(05:04):
look like they're melting, like a like a Dolly painting.
That's macular degeneration and action. And what it is is
it's a breakdown of the macula, the tiny but mighty
part of your retina that's responsible for sharp central vision.
And there's two types. There's dry amd age related macular degeneration,
(05:27):
which it progresses slowly like rust on a car. And
there's also wet AMD, where leaky blood vessels cause rapid
damage and maybe think of that as like a plumbing
disaster in your eye. Dry AMD accounts for ninety percent
of cases, but WETAMD it's more aggressive. In by twenty fifty,
(05:52):
cases of both are expected to double. And you might
be asking why. Well, for one, yes, we have an
aging population, but also lifestyle choices, and we'll get that
into just a second. Now, I want to go over
who's most at risk. If you've got a family history
of AMD, age related macular degeneration, your odds they go up.
(06:18):
And but genetics aren't fair folks, we know that, right.
But smokers, I want you to listen up. Lighting up
doubles your risk. And yes, secondhand smoke counts two. And
then the sunlight UV exposure, those those rays, they're not
just aging your skin, they're affecting your retina. And also
(06:43):
we think about diet. If your plate looks like a
buffet of processed carbs, your eyes are starving for nutrients.
But here's the scary part. Early stages they often have
no symptoms. That's why regular eye exams are non negotiable,
especially after the age of fifty. Catching it early is
(07:07):
like spotting a termite before your house collapses. All right,
let's go ahead and talk about solutions, and let's start
with your fork. Your eyes they crave lutine in z athathin.
Those are antioxidants that act like built in sunglasses, and
(07:27):
you might ask where you find them. In leafy greens
like spinach, kale, and collars, you can think of them
as armor for your retina. And then fatty fish like salmon,
they deliver the omega threes that fight inflammation. And colorful
vegetables like carrots and peppers they pack beta carotene. And
(07:49):
here's a tip for you. If you cook those greens
with a splash of olive oil, fat helps your body
absorb these nutrients better. And then there's blueberries. I like
to call them ieberries. They have these scyath ins that
they may boost your night vision. And for those that
(08:10):
hate vegetables, supplement vitamin ce zinc and copper can help.
But again, there's no substitute for real food. And beyond diet,
let's talk about habits like smoking. I want you to
be proactive in quitting and sun exposure where sunglasses with
(08:30):
one hundred percent UVA UVB protection none of those gas
station knockoffs. Also, exercise isn't just for your waistline. It
pumps blood to your retina like a turbocharger. And then
what about screen time. I like to suggest a twenty
(08:52):
twenty twenty rule. Every twenty minutes, look twenty feet away
for twenty seconds. Very trick that you can do that
may save some of that strain on your eye. Oh
and then to manage that blood pressure, hypertension strains delicate
eye vessels like a garden hose on full blast. Now
(09:16):
there is hope research is exploding stem cells, the therapy
that it's repairing damaged retinal cells, and trials you can
imagine like tiny vision mechanics that are working into your eye.
There's anti what's known as anti VEGF drugs for wet
(09:36):
amd age related macular degeneration that can halt those leaks.
Those aren't cheap. A study shows that new lab models
they're speeding up breakthroughs, but the prevention that's where the
key still is. There's one trial that found high dose
(09:58):
OMEGA three's slowed progression thirty percent. And here's an interesting fact.
I astronauts on the International Space Station use special LED
lights to protect their retinas, so future technology might trickle
down to Earth soon and stick around. Our special guest
is going to talk about a breakthrough supplement that will
help your eyes and prevent AMD and all that while
(10:20):
you sleep. So what's the takeaway? Macular degeneration isn't inevitable.
You can eat like your eyes are watching. Maybe ditch
the smokes and shield those peepers and get checked on
the regular vision loss steals independence, but you've got the
tools to fight back. So all right, folks, it's time
(10:40):
for a quick pause, in a quick breather, But don't
wander off just yet. We got a very special guest
coming up, and I want to remind you you can
dial our toll free number at eight hundred and six
or six eight eighty two to two. You're listening to
the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
This is my Sun, Take that money, sne love that
lesson star, this.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
Is my fight.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Welcome back. You're listening to the Doctor Bob Martin Show,
where we're all about smarter living and thriving naturally and
teaching you to become your own best doctor most of
the time. And folks, remember if you've got questions about
natural health, nutrition, or anything in between, our toll free
hotline is always open at eight hundred six zero six
(11:51):
eight eight two to two. That's where two licensed physicians,
doctor Bob and I are sitting by to help you
unlock your best self. That's eight hundred zero six eight
eight two to two. Again, that's eight hundred six zero
six eight two two. Let's get right back into it.
And before the break, we've been talking about macular degeneration,
and it's a silent thief, a vision that affects millions.
(12:13):
Your macula, the tiny but mighty part of your retina,
is ground zero for sharp central vision. When it deteriorates
through aging, genetics, or lifestyle factors, things like reading, driving,
and recognizing faces become blurry. Battles. Dry age related macular degeneration,
which make up about ninety percent of the cases, creeps
(12:36):
in slowly, while wet AMD, less common but more severe,
strikes fast with leaky blood vessels, and by twenty fifty,
cases of both could double in the United States. The
red flags like family history smoking, which doubles your risk,
(12:56):
poor diet, in sun exposure. All these effects this, but
here's where we need to be concerned. Early stages often
have no symptoms. That's why regular eye exams after fifty
are non negotiable. They're like that smoke detector for your eyesight.
But there's good news. Your plate is always your first
(13:19):
line defense. You can load up on leafy greens like
spinach and kale, fatty fish like salmon, and colorful vegetables
like carrots and peppers that are all packed with vision
saving nutrients like lutine in omega threes. You can do
lifestyle tweaks like quit smoking, wearing UV blocking shades, and
(13:42):
follow the twenty twenty twenty rule I gave you for screens.
Remember that's every twenty minutes, look twenty feet away for
twenty seconds. And science is racing ahead with things like
stem cell therapies. But prevention is always best. And we
have a very special guest to discuss this further and
(14:02):
bring light to a supplement that will help you prevent
or slow the progression of age related macular degeneration. The
bottom line, macular degeneration isn't inevitable if you protect your
eyes now, remember they're the only pair you've got With that,
I want to introduce our special guest today. I want
(14:23):
our listeners to welcome Leslie Burke. She's a visionary leader
in iehealth, education and advocacy. With decades of experience, Leslie
has dedicated her career to empowering people with science based
strategies to protect and even improve their eyesight. As the
US liaison for the world renowned him Holtz Research Institute

the only clinically proven double blind study cataract reversal eye
drops in the world. That's a mouthful, of course, those
eyedrop they're can See eye Drops, the game changing product

that's helping restore vision. And as longtime CEO of Wise
Choice Medicine, the largest US distributor of can See eye Drops,
She's on a mission to make cutting edge vision care
accessible to all. She's debunking myths to sharing latest breakthroughs.
Leslie is here to reveal how we can take control
of our eyehealth naturally and effectively, and discuss a great
(15:28):
settlement called armed to maintain your vision all right, folks,
I want you to get ready for this eye opening conversation. Leslie.
Welcome to the Doctor Bob Martin Show. How are you today?
Speaker 6 (15:39):
Well, I'm just so glad to be here, doctor Brockman,
and it's nice to have somebody new on the show.
And I've been listening to your podcasts and your shows,
and you guys are just doing such an amazing job
and giving people tools on how to take care of
their health. And you're soul right. It is all about prevention,
isn't it. It's so important and not talked about enough.
(16:02):
So really appreciate the work you guys are doing.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Oh absolutely, and we appreciate the work that you're doing.
And again, you know, most of our listeners are very
familiar with the canc I drop, So that's why we're
going to talk about ARMED today. And you gave me
some information. I was fascinated by the large amount of
research behind ARMED and it's been proven effective treatment for
(16:25):
very serious retinal conditions like we just talked about earlier
than the show. How did you come up with this research?
And tell me tell the listeners a little bit more
about ARMED.
Speaker 6 (16:35):
Well, I'm glad you asked that question because the story
is actually fascinating. It started actually in China with a
doctor jiangong Yie who had been researching macular degeneration for decades,
and he came across a very interesting common denominator, if
you will, and those that suffer with macular degeneration, and
(16:59):
he found that they all had a severe deficiency of
melatonin production for their age. So in the elderly there's
a level of melatonin production that is typically lower than
when we're young, but in people with macular degeneration, it
was grossly deficient, okay. And he hypothesized that disrupted sleep
(17:23):
cycle due to lack of melatonin production was interfering with
the healing and repair mechanisms in the back of the eye,
specifically the retina and the macula. He postulated that the
only time the mechanisms of repair were activated in the
back of the eye was during that deep rem state
of sleep. Melatonin is actually also produced by the retina,
(17:47):
isn't that interesting. It's actually synthesized by the retina so
before it's dispensed into the rest of the body. He then,
when he discovered this, he contacted the world leading entrigonologist,
doctor Walter Pier Paoli, who lives in Switzerland and he
has written many papers and books on the role of
(18:08):
melatonin in the aging body. And doctor pier Paoli agreed
to work with doctor Ye to find a way to
optimize melatonin production that would mirror the body's more youthful
circadian function or sleep cycle, if you will. It was
only by achieving this that they could begin to launch
the study. So, for example, doctor pier Paoli is very
(18:29):
much against time released versions of melatonin, stating that they
further exhaust the pineal gland. It was complicated because melatonin
does not perform well, for example, if there's an absence
of zinc in the body. So they settled on a
melatonin formulation that is bonded with zinc and with selenium.
The selenium was essential for enzymatic reaction responsible for glutifione
(18:53):
production in the back of the eye. A lack of
selenium would prevent the antioxidant function of melatonin, and so
you see, it's kind of an advanced formula that they
were creating in order to effectively support and optimize pineal
function and youthful sleep cycles. Interesting to note that the
melatonin actually comes from organic coffee beans isn't that interesting.
(19:20):
So yeah, so they established the formula and then you know,
they were able to move forward with this amazing study
that you were talking about.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
And Leslie, so you mentioned a couple of those ingredients there,
melotone and specifically but armed redinall support it's gaining attention
for that natural approach to eyehealth. Can you explain some
of those other key ingredients and how they work synergistically
to protect and repair that retinal tissue.
Speaker 6 (19:52):
Yes, the selenium is actually so critical for protecting the
epithelium cells in the retina because it helps to carry
out so you're the melatonin is working as an antioxidant,
and so the selenium ensures that the oxidation that is
being addressed is actually being removed from the eye. Okay.
(20:15):
And and the zinc is also very synergistic with the
function of the of the melatonin in the eye. So
you know you have and so this is what's so
unique about this formula that it's actually bonded together and
without those ingredients, it's not it doesn't function at its
highest level. It kind of inhibits the melatonin from performing
(20:38):
the way it should.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
Okay, Leslie, we're coming up on a break in. I'm
speaking with Leslie Burke. She's the CEO of Wise Choice Medicine,
and she's talking about armed retinall support. You don't want
to miss this conversation. Stick right there. You're listening to
the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Are you waiting for the writ excuse?
Speaker 5 (21:04):
Are you waiting for the same shoes leading the tame.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
Money speech?
Speaker 5 (21:14):
Please and sind type way money.
Speaker 6 (21:29):
And welcome back.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
You're tuned into the Doctor Bob Martin Show, and I'm

And remember, if you've got pressing health questions, we're just
a phone call away at eight hundred six or O
six eight eight two to two. That's eight hundred six
or A six eight eight two to two. All right, Leslie.
So we again we were talking about ARMED retinal support
(22:13):
and also earlier in the hour was discussing age related
macular degeneration. And Leslie, many patients that are struggling with
age related macular degeneration, they also have retinal degeneration. What
clinical evidence can you expand on that supports ARMED in
its effectiveness and slowing or reversing both of those conditions.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
Well, you know, black homa, for example, is also associated
with dysregulation of sleep cycles, and it has been correlated
with you know, high incidents of that problem. And so again,
the only time the retina can heal and repair is
during that deep rem state of sleep. Melatonin as the
(22:58):
most powerful antioxide and also offers anti glycation production to
the optic nerve, protection to the optic nerve, you know,
and the retinal epithelium cells. There are actually more publications
on the benefits of melatonin for glaucoma than there is
for macular degeneration. The reason the macular degeneration study is
(23:21):
so significant is that until now, there have literally been
no viable treatment options for that condition. You know, they
do the injections and they hope to slow the condition
down but the results are not great. The data is
not great on the treatments of macular degeneration, and the
(23:44):
doctors themselves are frustrated with this because there really is
not like with glaucoma, where they actually do have drugs
that work and they have things that will help with
macular degeneration. There has not been That's why this study
is so amazing. And it happened in two thousand and five,
that's how long this information has been out there. And
(24:07):
yet people are not hearing about it unless they are
listening to your show or you know, happened to you know,
happen to find the research themselves. And I find that deplorable,
especially when the study results were so impressive.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
Impressive, Yeah, yeah, and why do you why do you
think that is? Why can't we get this message out
to more more people? Of course, yeah, you're a good
advocate for it on the on the program here, but
we need more people to find out about this.
Speaker 6 (24:35):
And well, I know, I know, I've been screaming it
from the hilltops for years and it's it is tragic.
It is you know, when we're not alone, you know,
with you know, almost every health condition. This story is prevalent,
is it not? And so you know, your listeners are
people who are seeking answers for themselves. And I think
(24:58):
people have been so afraid to trust their own instincts
or to listen to anything but what their doctor tells them,
not your audience. But you know, for years was that way.
But I feel like it's the tides have really turned,
and you know, the more you do research, the more
you can begin to trust your own instincts a little bit,
(25:21):
you know. I think I've always said this. I think
one of the greatest crimes of allopathic medicine is the
disempowerment of people to feel confident in trusting their own
instincts a little bit, you know, and safely doing research,
because the more you research, the more your instincts become
attuned if you will.
Speaker 7 (25:41):
You know.
Speaker 6 (25:42):
And I you know, the doctors are practicing medicine, honest,
why can't we practice medicine on ourselves. I always suggest
that people should check with their doctor first. You know,
it's always good to inform your doctor, but you also
have to take into account what your doctor background is,
and if he's an open minded guy, if he's a
(26:04):
guy that's still out there looking at other avenues really
trying to help his patients, whereas he plugged into what
he was trained to do and not willing to look
at anything else. I mean, I've had doctors fire their
patience because they wanted to try something alternative. You know, literally,
I will not treat you if you don't take this medication.
And it is a sad state of affairs. But I
(26:26):
feel like doctors are listening now because so many patients
have come in and actually healed themselves, you know, and
so you know, the tides are changing, it is getting better,
and there are more doctors like you guys that are
actually you know, looking at all these alternatives, and so
I think we can be hopeful. But if you have
(26:49):
something that has no side effects, only health improvements and
there's no risk, you know, what is you know, I
don't get what the pushback is either. I'm lost for
an answer to that question.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Well, well, I think I think we may know that,
and that's a that's big pharma. But I didn't say
it right.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
But no, nope, you didn't.
Speaker 6 (27:09):
I didn't hear a thing.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
Well, Leslie, Leslie, you kind of you let into something
else I want to know about, Like we're talking about
like unlike synthetic drugs, ARMED uses that natural nutraceutical type
of approach. How does this differentiate from those conventional treatments
like anti VEGF injections and what advantage does that offer?
Speaker 6 (27:33):
Well, the injections, for one thing, it's it's a repeated
trauma to the eye. And the one thing we know
about the eyes is they don't like trauma. Okay, So
so you know, and and they stop working. You know,
they reach a point where they stop working, and you know,
and some don't work at all. So it's just the
(27:54):
best they have. It's the best they have to offer,
and it's not very good, but they will offer the
best they have, right, so, you know, the ARMED products,
it's kind of a funny story. It actually comes from
organic coffee beans. Isn't that funny? The armed melatonin that
(28:15):
helps with sleep comes from a coffee bean. It seems
so counterintuitive, but that's the way mother nature works. That's
the way things often work. You know, something is does
the opposite, you know, of what you would think it
would do, and so you know, it's it's such a
pure lovely product. And of course there's all the added benefits.
(28:38):
Melatonin is the master hormone they call it, and it
supports so many wonderful functions in the body. So people
have sleep improvements. But the patients in the study actually
had improvements in their dry eye condition, ocular pressures improved,
there were just you know, a whole my rate of improvements.
(28:58):
We actually recommend it in combination with some of our
other products for nearly every AGINGI problem because it's only
going to support the healing response in your eyes.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Yeah, and we're talking with Leslie Burke, the CEO of

(31:18):
with Leslie Burke about armed redinoll support and we're talking
about age related macular degeneration. Leslie, I want to get
more into the studies and the results on this because
they're fascinating to me and I think it can help
a lot of people if we just get the word out, Leslie.
Can you expand on those study results.
Speaker 6 (31:38):
Yeah, the study was done in two thousand and five,
and since then, of course, there have been many studies
that have been done that corroborate the results that they
had in this initial breakthrough study. And in this study
there were one hundred patients with both They did both
wet and dry macular degeneration. They were given one tablet
(32:01):
nightly of the armed melatonin formula, which is of course
bonded with selenium and zinc, and the patients were then
evaluated at the beginning, of course, and then every two
months thereafter. The study went on for you know, the
main part of the study was the first six months,
(32:22):
and then they did continual follow ups up until the
two year point. But at the beginning their first results happened.
The initial results at the two to three month point
of treatment were actually quite dramatic. All of the patients,
(32:42):
the majority had their visual acuity had been stabilized. In
other words, no further degeneration had occurred. And you know,
macular degeneration is again what it says it degenerates, so
stopping that degeneration was significant. So that was a significant step,
you know, towards revealing where they were going to go
(33:02):
with this. And then after six months, ninety three percent
of the patients had arrested or improved their condition. Based
on those fund pictures, the back of the eye pictures,
they actually could see healing responses in the macula, which
you know, that's just been an unheard of breakthrough. Fifty
(33:25):
four percent of the patients reported other vision improvements, seventy
eight percent had varying levels of sleep improvement overall, improved
feeling of well being, so you know, it was just
absolutely incredible. And when you look at those images and
we do post those on our website, you can see
(33:48):
the imagery of the before and after pictures and with
the vision measurements of many of the participants in this
study that had absolute remarkable improvements in their visual acuity
one little melatonin tablet at night, the patients reported better
vision with improvements to glare, dryness, clarity, and comfort. For
(34:12):
the participants who continued past the sixth month on to
twelve months of nightly use, the changes in those pictures
were even more remarkable. It's just it's just an astounding
study that they did, and it was it kind of
was a rock your world study when they published it.
And so that's where all the research on melatonin and
(34:34):
retinal conditions really took off. And actually, like I said before,
there's more research even on you know, the treatment of
glaucoma with the study, so you know, with melatonin. So
you know, when I read that research, you can imagine,
you know, here I was working with doctor Babacheev and
(34:55):
we were doing the CANC eye drops and I came
across this study and I just could hardly believe what
I was reading because as far as I knew, there
was nothing that helped with macular degeneration. I mean, it
was kind of like, this is your sentence, this is
your going to be your outcome. There is no hope.
And since then, we have helped thousands of people just
(35:17):
by using this product. Many of people take this product
along with CANC eye drops to further support the health
of the eye. So, you know, it's just it's a
wonderful thing to hear the results from people, to hear
people talking about their improvements, to hear them tell the
stories of how shocked their doctors are when they go
(35:39):
back in, you know, and it's such a simple thing,
and you're simply supporting what the eye is trying to
do on its own right. You're getting the inhibitors out
of the way, you're removing the oxidation, You're putting the
eye into a place where it can heal and repair
(35:59):
its else And in my mind, that's a beautiful thing.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Absolutely, And Leslie, for for those listeners that are saying, well,
I take I take melatonin, I want you to again
explain the difference between that and and for the listeners
to know this is not a single ingredient supplement. Arm
combines what is it, seven different different ingredients compounds to
address that red and all health holistically. Would that be
safe to say, yes, yes it would.
Speaker 6 (36:26):
And it's it's like what doctor pier Paoli said, he
was very concerned about time released you know, melotonin. Uh
he he felt that that would exhaust the pineal gland
and by you know, by continually dripping melatonin in and
then if you're doing a sublingual you're getting a big
(36:47):
hit immediately because that's going directly into the blood steam stream.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
So they were Leslie, We're coming up on a break. Hey,
hold that thought. We'll be right back with the Doctor
Bob Martin Show.
Speaker 5 (37:00):
Star y.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
Well Friends. As we come to the end of today's discussion,
I want to take a moment to reflect on what
we've learned from our special guest, Leslie Burke. In just
a short time together, we've uncovered truce about vision health
that could literally change how we see the world, both
today and in years to come. And Leslie, your work
(37:51):
at him Holtz Research Institute and your dedication to bringing
great eye health advancements to America like can SYE, eye
Drops and ARMED and all support, it represents more than
just scientific advancement. I think it represents hope, real tangible
hope for millions struggling with cataracts, macular degeneration, and age
(38:12):
related vision decline. The fact that there exists a clinically proven,
non surgical solution is nothing short of amazing, and I
think your role in making this accessible to the people
across the country is truly commendable. So, Leslie, I normally
get this question for someone new to ARMED, how soon
can they expect to see results in what lifestyle changes?
(38:36):
And maybe combine that with canc eye drops can enhance
its benefits.
Speaker 6 (38:39):
So typically within two to three months people are going
to start noticing improvements, and even more from a physiological
point of view, we know that stress and worry causes
cortisol production in the brain and that is one of
the enemies of the retina in the back of the eye,
and so with melatonin, you're you're actually getting into that
(39:02):
repair state, that's deep sleep states. So you're going to
notice renewed energy, uh, you know, feelings of you know,
even lightened depression often from taking the product because you're
getting that restorative quality of sleep at night. So typically
within two to three months people are seeing those types
(39:23):
of improvement improvements, and you'll even see within days improvements
in your sleep cycle, of course, but all the studies
reveal that within as little as three months people are
noticing improvements in their macular condition, and especially if you
combine this with Cancie drops and then one of our
other products that supports glutathione production in the I called
(39:45):
NACC plus. We have a triad there for people that
have multiple conditions. Often people with macular degeneration also have
cataracts or also have glaucoma. So we have specific protocol
and products for you know, multiple conditions, and we have
(40:05):

with questions and support you. And we are here five
days a week and take calls from our customers readily.
