Speaker 4 (02:43):
First up, we're gonna.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Talk about whole body wisdom, a natural approach to women's health.
We're gonna ditch the fragmented approach to women's health and
embrace what I call whole body wisdom because your hormones, gut,
and nervous system are having one heck of a conversation
and it's time we all learn the language and men
(03:05):
listen up to You haven't passed the first test in
female one oh one, and I'm still in that class two.
But for generations, medicine treated the female body like a
malfunctioning appliance. One specialist for the plumbing, another for the wiring,
nobody reading the whole instruction manual. But here's what they missed.
(03:29):
Your menstrual cycle isn't just a fertility calendar. It's a
masterclass in biofeedback. Those mood swings, they're crypto messages. The
three PM energy crash a system alert were worth the coding.
When patients ask me for the single best health upgrade,
(03:50):
I tell them become fluent in your body's native tone.
Let's start with hormones, the ultimate group chat admins of
your physiology. During menstruation, when estrogen and progesteron take their
curtain call, many women feel like retreating. That's not a weakness,
(04:12):
that's wisdom. Your biology is saying, let's pause and recalibrate.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
By the folecular.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Phase in estrogen rise, it's like a gentle tide. You
might notice ideas flowing easier in workouts, feeling lighter. That's
your signal to schedule creative meetings or tackle that garage reorganization.
Ovulation brings estrogen's big solo performance, paired with a testosterone cameo,
(04:44):
often delivered a confidence boost that's strong enough to make
you volunteer for some like karaoke. And then we got
the lutael phase. That's your body's jazz improv session. It's complex,
it's soulful and occasionally needing extra magnesium. And we'll get
that with our special guests today. The key isn't fighting
(05:06):
these rhythms, but surfing them like a pro. Now, for
some kitchen chemistry. It's called seed cycling. During days one
through fourteen of your cycle, you can count that by
the first day of bleeding. Grind up flax and pumpkin seeds.
(05:29):
Their ligands and zinc help metabolize estrogen gracefully after ovelation,
Switch the seeds to sesame. In sunflower seeds, they have
selenium and vitamin E that support progesterone production. Well, let's
turn you into a fertility goddess. Maybe not, but it's
(05:50):
a fiber rich, budget friendly way to show your endocrine
system some love. Let's retire the word diet instead. Try
the five S framework. Write the day, it's seasonal, satiating, stabilizing, spectrum,
and sacred. Seasonal means eating what's fresh locally. Those strawberries
(06:13):
in December might be cheerful, but they're nutritional lightweights compared
to end season squash. Satiating meals always include protein and
healthy fats, think walnuts and oatmeal or avocado on toast.
Stabilizing refers to complex carbs that won't send your blood
(06:35):
sugar on a roller coaster, like sweet potatoes over white bread.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
That's just that.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Any day. Spectrum means painting your plate with color. The
deeper the hue, the richer the phito nutrients and sacred.
That's the art of chewing without scrolling, because digestion begins
with mindfulness, not mindlessness. Here's where it gets fascinating. Harvard
(07:04):
researchers found that balancing protein, fat, and fiber at breakfast
reduces afternoon cortisol spikes by up to twenty five percent.
The translation here that almond butter, banana, chia seed combo
it isn't just tasty, it's literal stress armor for your
loudle phase. And about those chocolate cravings. Dark varieties with
(07:28):
seventy plus percent cocoa contain magnesium and polyphenols that actually
help regulate progesterone levels. The compounds behind sometimes those minstrel cams.
Next time you reach for a square of chocolate. Tell
your judgy inner critic. It's a targeted nutrient therapy for
(07:50):
everyone's favorite stress hacks. The four seven to eight breathing technique.
Inhale four counts, hold seven and exhale eight. It activates
your vegus nerve faster than most pharmaceuticals. I've seen patients
use it during toddler tantrums. Work presentations or even dental cleanings.
(08:15):
If you pair it with sleep hygiene, some that would
even impress a sleep lab like seven to nine hours
in a pitch black room. And yes, even those led
clock faces matter. And how about a digital sunset one
hour before bed. Choose amber lights, no screens, and maybe
(08:38):
some Kimmel te Why because melatonin doesn't just regulate sleep,
it prevents estrogen dominance, a key player in heavy periods
in fibroids, your environment is either a wellness wing man
or a stealth saboteur. Maybe swap plastic containers for glass
(09:00):
BPA free plastics still contain questionable cousins like BPS, or
choose fragrance free skin care products. Parabin's mimic estrogen levels
and invest in a basic carbon water filter. Chlorine byproducts
aren't party favors for your liver. These aren't extreme measures.
(09:22):
They're the equivalent of brushing your teeth for your cells.
Don't underestimate the power of community. Blue zones where people
typically live over one hundred years of age. The research
there shows strong social ties add more years than perfect nutrition.
(09:43):
Maybe host a wellness pot luck. You can swap little
recipes and life stories. Laughter boost oxytocin levels better than
any supplement, and shared walks create accountability without the gym membership.
And here's a bonus compare mental cycle tracking notes with
(10:05):
your friends. That is more teamwork than taboo. For those
wanting herbal allies, chess Berry shows promise for easing PMS symptoms.
When taken consistently for three cycles, start with twenty milligrams
daily ASHWAGANDHA and adaptagen herb can lower cortisol by twenty
(10:26):
eight percent. But remember plants or teammates, not saviors. Your
wellness squad might include a nature path, acupuncturist, or pelvic
floor therapists, professionals who see you as an ecosystem, not
as a collection of symptoms. As we wrap up, try
this closing ritual. Plant your feet firmly, rest your hands
gently in whisper. My body speaks in whispers before it shouts.
(10:50):
I choose to listen early you. We'll be right back
with our special guest. You are listening to the Doctor

Let's keep the conversation going and empower each other to
live our healthiest lives. Okay, We're going to get right
into our interview with Mindy brainhurst Is. She's the director
(12:00):
of Product Innovation at Sun Warrior, where she brings over
a decade of experience in developing clean, effective, and forward
thinking supplement formulations. She's especially passionate about creating holistic products
that support women's health, formulas that are rooted in science,
aligned with nature, and built to truly work. Mandy believes
(12:21):
that happy products come from happy people, and she brings
that philosophy into every phase of the innovation process. She
lives simply and intentionally in Tennessee, where she and her husband,
spend time walking their two dogs, Kate the Boxer and
Miley Cyrus, the Frenchy pug, soaking in the quiet moments
(12:42):
between busy days. Mindy balances her own wellness with a
mix of functional fitness, daily walks and pilates, approaching life
with a blend of Goggin's level grit in Pilate's Girl Grace.
Beyond her work in the lab, Minty has spent her
time raising to two boys to be happy, healthy young
men who understand the value of nutrition, supplementation, and strength,
(13:06):
both both physically and mentally. Her passion for wellness is
deeply personal, and it shines through in the products she
creates in the life she leads with a thoughtful mix
of professional expertise in real world insight, Mindy is on
a mission to help others feel stronger, clearer, and more
connected through the power of purposeful supplementation. And with that,
(13:31):
I'd like to welcome Mindy to The Doctor Bob Martin Show.
Speaker 6 (13:34):
Hi May welcome, Thank you, Hi.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
It's great to have you on the show.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
I love the sun Warrior product line and we're gonna
get right into this. Sun Warrior has a reputation for
clean plant based products. What core philosophy guides your product
development when creating these new products.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
Yeah, that's a great question. So Sun where our product
development is grounded in three core pillars, the first one
being plant based. That's who we are at our core.
Every product we create is plant based, organic when possible.
So even in formulas where the hero isn't available in
the organic form, like creatine, we still have the rest
(14:15):
of the products with integrity. For example, we'll use organic flavors,
organic sweeteners, and clean eccipients wherever possible. Our third pillar
is it has to perform, so clean is only half
the story. A product has to work, and we won't
launch anything that does not deliver real, noticeable results. I
(14:37):
think you guys are lucky enough a couple of weeks
ago to interview with our founder Denly. He's really good
guiding light in Sunwarrior story. His personal philosophy of keeping
things as simple, clean and effective as possible still rings
through in every formula we create. So we really try
to stay rooted in those values while constantly staying informed,
(14:58):
keeping up with the latest ingredients science, consumer needs, sustainable
packaging and innovations to keep evolving responsibly so in every product, uh,
is it is clean, it's really it generally doesn't want
to take it, we probably won't make it.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
That that's a good strategy to have if the owner.
If the owner won't take it, then uh then nobody should, right.
But yeah, so so again, the plant based, clean, purposeful,
I think is the important thing thing there is. I
really like that that mindset when creating these products. It
helps support these the people in their real lives. It
(15:40):
makes it simple for them, and so so many the
product lineup at at sun Warrior, it's grown a lot
over the years. Which current Sun Warrior products are the
best sellers right now? And why do you think those
resonate with customers and consumers.
Speaker 6 (15:58):
So we've experiences massive growth over the past couple of
years and it's really been exciting to see how our
innovation has connected with people. Right now, our best sellers
reflect what today's wellness consumer is really looking for, which
is clean, convenient products that actually deliver results. Some of
our top products right now all things creatine, especially Creatine
(16:21):
for Her, which has filled a much needed space in
women's wellness. Our Clear Protein Refresher, which offers protein in
a light, refreshing format. So that comes from Squarley protein,
which is upcycled from production, our active protein that has
three grams of plant based power, adaptagens for recovery, our
(16:44):
new liquid line that we're just launching right now, including
women's multi am and liquid hair growth, and of course
some of our legacy favorites like feet root powder, Macha
and our vegan omegas that continue to perform because they're
clean and easy to incorporate into daily life.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
What do you see becoming your next big sellers or
big hits in the marketplace.
Speaker 6 (17:12):
We just launched a new product which is active Creating
for Her capsules, which is designed for women forty plus
for even more convenience rather than taking powdered products. You're
just launching a full active probiotic line, vegan liquid iron,
and I'm really excited. A new and improved Warrior Blend
(17:33):
protein which has twenty one gram of protein perserved with
additions like adaptogenic mushrooms and of course creating.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Yeah, that seems very neat now, mushrooms, that's kind of
a buzzword in a health space right now. Can you
go into a little bit more detail with that Warrior
Blend protein.
Speaker 6 (17:56):
Yeah, So we'll have a Warrior Blend protein stand loan,
and then we'll do an addition of Warrior Blend protein
plus one gram of adaptogenetic mushrooms from Tico two to
really support recovery. And we'll also have a Warrior Blend
with five grands of creating nice Nice.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Okay, okay, can you walk us through the product formulation process?
Speaker 4 (18:21):
Maybe where and how do you begin that?
Speaker 6 (18:24):
Yes? So for me, this is the fun part because
this is my job that I get to do every day,
and I'm so blessed to do so, and I'm lucky
that I do love what I do, and I'm a
firm believer that that shines through in the product you make.
And I just feel so lucky that I get to
touch so many people. But you would never know because
(18:45):
you typically don't know who's behind the products that are
being made. But so for me, it's a it's a
blend of both science and the vibe that I'm going for.
So I always begin with a clear intention and a
clear consumer, so thinking of things like who is this
(19:05):
product for, what do they need to support with, what
would make them feel good using it consistent, consistently, And
then once I have that clearity, I just go into
a research research mode, diving into clinical study, scientific papers,
industry data to identify ingredients that are not only trending
but proven. You get to look at the dotage, delivery
(19:29):
form snergy between actage, all the functional assets that make
a product work. But then that's where I get to
have fun and put a personal spin on everything. So
every single product that I've formulated as a playlist music
works perfectly with this creative process. It helps me map
(19:52):
out the energy and emotion that I'm looking for behind
the product.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Yes, yeah, yeah, okay, so yeah, we're gonna get back
into that. I want to hold your hold your thought
on on that. We're gonna come up on a break
in just a just a few minutes.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
But I like that.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
I like that kind of mindset of hey, uh, certain
certain supplements go with a song or a or a
theory and uh and that's a that's a great way
to have a playlist of how your how your day
should go with supplementation processes.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
Uh so yeah, it's a.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
We're coming up on a break, but don't go anywhere, everybody,

All Right, we are right in the middle of an
interview with Mindy Brainhurst. She's the director of Product Innovation
(22:10):
at sun Warrior, and before the break we were talking
about how Mindy comes up with these formulas and she
brings them into maybe a musical type of a playlist.
So Mindy, can you elaborate on that just a little
bit more.
Speaker 6 (22:25):
Yes, of course, I'll just preface it this with my
dad loved eighties and nineties music, and I'm also so
lucky that I love music too, and it does play
a big role for me in the creative process. So
behind every formula that I've made, I create a playlist.
The music helps map the energy and emotion that I
(22:47):
want the product to carry. If it's a nighttime relaxation formula,
the playlist is maybe softer, more grounded. I like Leon Bridges,
weew with Mac et cetera. Things like that. If it's
an energizing daytime supplement, or maybe a pre workout or
or something, I might focus on a different type of music.
(23:09):
A personal favorite of mine is Prouveon. So many Sunware
products are formulated listening to them. I'm also lucky that
I have younger sons and they help me keep up
to date on what music is nealing going on. I
also love the Tiny Desk series that plays a lot
often in the background. The playlist becomes a tour guide
(23:31):
LP checking emotionally and creatively through the process. So while
the science obviously is driving the structure, the vibe drives
the heart of the formula, and music is a big
part of that. A product has to feel good, look good,
taste good and work.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
Sounds like you're putting your energy into into the formulation
process here, and that's a and that's a great way.
That means you definitely care about what you're putting out
there for everybody. All right, Mindy, can you give us
a glimpse and a sun Warriors innovation pipeline. Are you
there any ingredients or product trends you're exploring for the future.
Speaker 6 (24:11):
Yeah? Absolutely, Honestly, the sky is a limit and product
development right now. You can go to some of these
trade shows and ingredient shows and really the sky is
the limit. It's such an exciting era where functional ingredients,
consumer awareness and innovation are all moving really quickly, and
ymns at some layer we're seeing rooted in our core pillars,
(24:34):
but pushing into new territory that supports real life rituals
and full body wellness. I personally love combining adaptagens with
functional ingredients, like what we're doing with the Clear routine hydration,
which merges recovery performance and everyday usability. We're also working
(24:56):
on beautiful morning and nighttime rules to pair to support
wellness around the clock, designed to help people start and
end their day intentionally. We're also expanding our active family
of products with a focus not just on individual health
but whole household solutions, because wellness should be a shared lifestyle,
not just a solo mission. I've loved that with my
(25:19):
family as we've grown, and I'm sure plenty of other
people who are purchasing products want to use it holistically
for their family. On the ingredient front, we're going to
be keeping a close eye on longevity focused compounds like
nad budhcione and more approachable, easy to deliver formats. The
(25:41):
gut brain connection with nootropics and mood supporting ingredients, and
cutting edge solutions for stress results and emotional well being.
So we're constantly reviewing new clinical data testing ingredients and
thinking about how to integrate all of this into a clean,
plant based delivery form that works for me. It's about
(26:03):
helping people feel good in their bodies, to stay sharp
in their minds without compromising clean, intentional products.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
Yeah, Mandy, And along with this, you mentioned earlier about
the new liquid line that includes women's multivitamins that am.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
In liquid hair growth.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Can you expand on that a little bit, maybe give
the listeners some insight onto why those are so important
for especially women's health, like I talked about in the
first first segment of the show.
Speaker 6 (26:37):
Yeah, so we wanted to offer really easy delivery formats.
In the liquids, we wanted to offer something that's liblidomal
so it's more bioavailable. So the liquid am focuses on
your multi vitamins with added ingredients for mental clarity like
lions made and tumeric, and in the hair growth plant
(27:00):
based ingredients that actually work to get to get a boost.
And we're using a really cool new ingredient from Pea
sprout that has clinical studies that really does affect the
hair growth pattern and bring in fuller, brighter, longer hair,
so things that women are looking for also in that
liquid line is a vegan liquid iron, especially important for
(27:22):
women and young children, just offering really tasty, clean ingredients
that functionally worked.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Are those products available now?
Speaker 6 (27:34):
They are?
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Okay, great, great, great? Yeah, the liquid formulas by Sun Nutrition,
They're just absolutely fantastic, especially the uptake, the availability, bioavailability
of these.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
Products are great.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
All right, we are talking with Mindy Brainhurst, the director
of Product Innovation at Sun Warrior. Mindy, creatine is suddenly
everywhere these days, even in plant based wellness circles, where
it was and a big thing before. Why do you
think creatine has become so trendy again?
Speaker 6 (28:06):
It's this when it for me? It is so awesome
to see creatine finally get their recognition it deserves outside
of the traditional bodybuilding spaces. For so long, anybody that
was taking creatine was boxed into this Jimbro world. But
now we're seeing such a huge shift, and it's for
good reason. Creatine is actually one of the most researched
(28:28):
and clinically supported supplement ingredients in existence. Almost every day
you can see a new clinical study popping up, where
a new brand popping up with a creatine product. There
are decades of studies backing its effectiveness not just for
muscle performance, but for brain health, mood, hormone balance, and
(28:49):
even aging. Creatine is awesome. It's simple, it's safe, affordable,
it works. I think one of the reasons that you're
starting to see creating a buzzing everywhere is because of
podcasters Mike Doctor Andrew Huberman, who has talked a lot
about creating recently.
Speaker 4 (29:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Yeah, Creating is a great, great product.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
We've been talking about.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
On the show for quite some time, in particular the
Sun Warrior line of creating products and creating. It's it's
been there for probably twenty thirty years. I think in
the nineties with MLB players really bring into light, you know,
use creating. But you know the thing is tying this
(29:31):
into women's health. I know we're coming up on a
break and we're gonna get into that. In just a second.
We're talking with Mindy Brainhurst of Sun Warrior. She's the
director of product Innovation. She's going to be back with
us and in just a second and continue this interview.
You are listening to the Doctor Bob Martin Show on

We're gonna get right back into our interview with Mindy Brainhurst.
She is the director of Product Innovation at Sunwarrior. If

sunwarrior dot com. And as a special listener of The
Doctor Bob Martin Show, if you type in the promo
(31:28):
code doc Bob, you'll get special savings only available for
Doctor Bob Martin Show listeners. All right, mindy, we're going
to get right back into what we were finishing up
with creating and why it's exploding in popularity. Can you
expand on that again for us?
Speaker 6 (31:45):
Sure? Yeah. As a as I said before, creating is
the most steadied supplement you have peper researching it for mood, strain, recovery,
basically every benefit out there. There are three reasons why
I think right now it's having such a moment, one
(32:05):
of which is the scientific bread So with roots and
exercise physiology, recent studies are high fighting the benefits for
cognitive health, bone density, mood, and even recovery, even recovery
from TDI tumatic brain injury. You're seeing so many people
finding relief using creatine. So who would have thought that
the Boxton Jimbros from the nineties that we find clinical
(32:30):
research to support people that have TDI. You have the
plant based gap, so since creatine is naturally found in
animal products, plant based eaters are embracing supplementation to fill
that dietary void. You have the affordability and simplicity. It's inexpensive,
it's easy to consume, and it's supported by consistent dosing,
(32:52):
making it accessible for anyone. Not just delete athletes. And
then I think, really the big piece here are is
you know, the soleb and influencer boost. When you have influencers,
top podcasters talking about it, it validates creatine as a
mainstream wellness tool and not just you know, in gym culture.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
And I know you focus a lot on women's health,
and there's a new buzz about creatine for women, and
it's not just for fitness, but for perimenopause, brain health,
mood and aging.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
Why should women.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Consider adding creatine to their supplement routine?
Speaker 6 (33:32):
Yeah, I love this question. I love talking about women's health.
It's so fun for me being a woman in her
forties and you know, finding all sorts of alternatives that
are out out there for us. I love being at
the gym and talking two women who would normally never
(33:53):
take creatine. And most of the ladies that I go
to either plates or cross it with, they're all using
creatine for different reasons. Creatine is no longer just a
performance supplement. It's becoming a critical tool in women's health,
especially during saying perimenopause and menopause. And what makes it
(34:14):
so powerful is how multifunctional it is. It supports muscle strength,
cognitive clarity, mood and stability, energy, metabolism, and even bone
helps all areas where women tend to see natural decline
during hormonal transition. Then you have experts like doctor Stacy Simms,
who's a leading exercise physiologists and women's health researcher. She's
(34:38):
been incredibly vocal about this. You can see her talking
about this on some big time podcasters. She emphasizes that women,
especially during midlife, benefits significantly from creatine because we naturally
have lower baseline creatine stores, and that gap becomes more
impactful as estrogen and progester and fluctuate. Then you also
(34:59):
have doctor Mary Claire who recommends creating for its neuroprotective
benefits and its role in healthy aging. She sees it
as a foundational support for women navigating midlife changes. And
probably my favorite quote that I've been reading a lot
(35:19):
lately as we're creating new products, new women health products,
is from doctor Joscelyn Fitzgerald, and she says, perry and
menopausal women are the single richest and most educated generation
of women that have ever existed. You think they're going
to accept the frail and continent state of their mothers
and grandmothers. I think again, there's a lot of buying
(35:43):
power and education power behind women of this age. That
quote just gives me chills because it captures the exact
reason why creating is having a moment. Women are informed,
we're empowered and no longer settling for decline of the norm.
Women want to feel strong and sharp and capable, and
Creating is proving to be a game changing tool in
(36:06):
that mission. I've been so lucky in my role that
I directly influenced some of the new creating products for
her that we have coming out both and powder form
and now launching in capsules to bring this incredible ingredient
to the wellness space with intentional and support behind them.
(36:26):
It's not just trendy, we're also being transformative.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
Yeah, that's that's a great, great thing to talk about women.
Women's health is at the forefront, and I think that
exactly what you said about them being in their forties fifties,
they want they want to live longer, healthier and more powerful.
I think that's the statement there. We're going to be
bright back with Mindy Brainheurst of Sun Warrior. You're listening
(36:52):
to the doctor Bob Martin.

Speaker 6 (37:53):
I wanted to just wrap up some of the creation
scene for her products that we have coming out. The
first one that we came out with was creating for
her monohydrate to support hormone balance, healthy aging, and braid energy.
To have the five grands of creating monohydrate and then
a cool balance when of dim lp andine Oshwagonda and
(38:15):
black Cohosh. I was so excited as my first like,
I asked the team to just let me do something,
let me do my own product, make it for myself,
and I was thrilled to see that people are resonating
with it. I do believe that you can find this
one in Whole Foods and that was just kind of
(38:36):
like a dream comes true to me to see one
of my baby projects make it onto the shelfa Whole
Foods and to support women on their journey. The newest
creating for Her products that we have coming out is
creating capsules. This one is for healthy aging and preparing
and menopausal support. We have vitamin D three creating hdl
(39:01):
oshagond a Holy Basil Lion's main own bin. Really to
support women holistically, especially as you're aging on our journey.
That one just launched. I'm so excited to keep success.
We're just going to continue to expand on the things
that we do well. We have a lot coming up
in our organic plant based protein powders and really just
pushing innovation in our clean plant based space. And I
(39:26):
just couldn't be more thrilled that it's my job and
I get to do this every day.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
Yeah, that's that is a great goal.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
It's it's always it's always nice to make people healthier.
