Speaker 2 (01:01):
Good day to you.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Doctor Adam Brockman here, co host of The Doctor Bob
Martin Show, and thank you so much for joining today.
Let's start with some reoccurring news, and that's that mask
are making a comeback. But folks, before you reach for
that n ninety five, Let's talk about what's really going on.
There's a Cochrane study that recently found that cloth or

(01:25):
surgical mask made little to no difference in COVID infection
or death rates. So why the sudden pushed for these
masks again? And instead of hiding from viruses, why aren't
we focusing on boosting our immune systems? So today we're
going to tackle some of the big questions. How can

(01:45):
we boost our immune systems naturally? And what's the real
deal with masks making a comeback? And how can we
make smarter health choices without falling for the fear. Now,
let's talk about what's really important, and that's your health.
And with win right around a corner, it's easy to

(02:08):
get caught up and hype about mask and mandates. But
here's the truth. Your immune system is your best defense.
Whether it's with vitamin D, zinc or a daily dose
of elderberry, these are tools to keep you healthy and strong.
So let's shift the conversation from mask to immunity. And

(02:34):
of course we welcome your questions and your thoughts on this.
You can call us an eight hundred six zero six
eight eight two two or visit us at doctor bob
dot com. Again, that's eight hundred six zero six eight
A two two or doctor bob dot com. Spawn out
the word doctor d C t R bob dot com

(02:54):
and folks, here's here's a tip to start with. If
we're talking about immunity, start with fifty milligrams of zinc daily,
one thousand units of vitamin D, and a fistful of
rainbow colored vegetables. Those are simple steps that can make
a world of difference in keeping you healthy this winter.

(03:15):
And if we're also talking about the bigger picture here,
our Health and Human Services Secretary, our FK. Junior, he's
on a crusade for nutrition education, and I think it's
about time. And so while we got government officials obsessing
over mask thresholds, RFK Junior's team is forcing medical schools

(03:37):
to teach that seventy percent of immune systems live immune cells.
They live in the gut. So, folks, it's time to
prioritize prevention over the panic and mask. They're not the problem,
but they're a symptom of a sicker truth, and that's
that we've outsourced our health to panic buttons instead of

(04:01):
making daily choices like last winter's twenty six thousand flu deaths.
Many of these were preventable with basic nutritional interventions that
are now buried under political theatrics. And folks, it's time
to turn this fear into fuel for change. So I

(04:22):
want you to stay tuned the entire hour for some
more inside, some tips in health solutions. We're here to
empower you with knowledge and tools to take control of
your health. And again we encourage your participation. Call us
at eight hundred six zero six eight eight two to two,
visit doctor Bob dot com, and let's gear up for

(04:43):
winter in healthy ways. And before we get started, I
want to give a shout out to our newest affiliate.
It's Talk one oh four point one FM nine thirty
am in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I want to give a
special thanks to Alan Cooper, the general manager there, for
adding the show. Again. That's in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It's
Talk one oh four point one FM nine to thirty am.

(05:08):
And all right, folks, as winners approaching, I want to
talk more about this map that reveals where face masks
are set to make a comeback across the United States,
and we know each year respiratory virus cases are going
to be on the rise, and health officials are they're
going to brace for what is called the quademic, and
that's the surge in COVID nineteen flu, RSV, in Nora

(05:32):
virus cases. We're talking about these the mask mandates. The
first domino has already fallen in California, and that is
in the Bay County area. Sonoma County in particulars has
taken the lead. They've reinstated mask mandates in high risk
settings such as nursing homes, long care facilities, in dialysis centers.

(05:54):
It's county officials. They're also they're strongly urging mask use
in hospitals and urging the residents there to get vaccinated
against covid flu and RSV. So the experts, they warn
that Sonoma County may just be the beginning. Doctor Todd Ellerin,
he's an infectious disease specialist at Harvard University. He predicts

(06:17):
that other region regions will follow suit as respiratory virus
cases start to spike. He goes on to say that
when influenza like illnesses exceed certain thresholds, hospitals in areas
like Boston in particular, it will require masks for healthcare providers. Now, however,

(06:38):
not all experts foresee these widespread mandates. Doctor Bill Schaffner
of Vanderbilt University believes most areas will opt for recommendations
rather than strict requirements. And I think there's a strong
aversion to mandates across the country. You know, of course
proponents they're going to argue that mask helped curb the
spread of respiratory viruses by trapping these virus laden droplets. However, again,

(07:03):
the study that we mentioned at the top of the
hour of this review by the Cochrane Collaboration, a very
well known group, it's found that cloth and surgical masks
make little to no difference in COVID infection or the
death rates. So some experts they recommend medical grade N
ninety five risk masks for better protection, and while others

(07:25):
warn that reusable mask they can simply be breeding grounds
for bacteria if not washed thoroughly. So, as of now,
six counties in California's Bay Area have reinsaved these mass
mandates in healthcare settings and that's starting November first, and
these counties they require the mass for healthcare workers and
in some cases visitors and patients. In these facilities where

(07:48):
there might be vulnerable populations, so well, COVID cases they've
actually recently dropped in California, and the state's hospitalization rate
it remains still remains higher than the national average, and
experts are warning that as we know cooler temperatures they
force people indoors in the cases of flu RSV in

(08:11):
noura virus, they could rise and it's going to make
more regions consider these mass mandates as far as in
New York City. Doctor Tyler Evans, a former medical officer
in New York, He emphasizes the importance of flexibility broad mandates.
They may be necessary, but common sense measures in high

(08:33):
risk settings like hospitals and nursing homes can save lives.
He adds, so if we're looking at the numbers last
year's respiratory virus season, it was one of the most
severe in recent history, with forty seven million illnesses, six
hundred and ten hospitalizations in twenty six thousand deaths from
flu alone. So nation again, we each each winter we

(08:57):
continue to brace for it, and that the debate over
the mask is going to continue for probably years to come,
and it divides experts in the public alike. While the
Bay Area, these counties. The mask mandates there, they might
seem like some type of a proactive move, it's also
a symptom of what I would consider a bigger issue,

(09:19):
and that's our neglect of immune resilience. And since I
think since we ended hiding from viruses, become smarter than
fortifying our immune system our defenses. So we know every
major news segment is going to repeat the Cochrane collaboration
that's finding the mask mandates they make little to no difference.

(09:43):
But here's also what they're not telling you. Most interventions
fail when people are already nutrient deficient. So it's like
putting a band aid on a broken leg while ignoring
the osteoporosis. If we're looking at studies, a twenty twenty
four to one in the Frontiers in Immunology showed that

(10:03):
healthcare workers with optimal vitamin D levels had forty nine
percent fewer respiratory infection infections. And that's massed are not.
So why aren't we talking about boosting immunity rather than
just debating if we can put something over our ear lobes? So, folks,
I do want to talk. I do want to discuss

(10:24):
this in a little bit, a little bit more detail
after the break, So it's going to be time to

That's eight hundred six zero six eight eight two to two.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
All right.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
We've been talking about the mask making a comeback, but folks,
let's get real about reusable mask. That cotton mask, maybe
even an organic cotton mask, it's usually finds its way
just festering in your car's cup holder. Right, it's incubating
more germs than a Petri dish. And a twenty twenty

(13:17):
five UCLA study that found that staff thrives in almost
seventy percent of reused mask. Yet nobody's thinking about mandating
probiotic mouthwash to counteract it. Right, And folks, so if
we're gonna mask up, let's at least do it the
right way, and that's clean those masks daily and consider

(13:39):
any microble sprays on them, preferably natural ones. But again,
our Health Secretary RFK Junior, his crusade for nutrition education
dovetail's perfectly here, and again the government continues to obsess
over mass thresholds. But his team again is we're seeing

(14:00):
medical schools to teach that seventy percent of immune cells
live in the gut. So imagine if those in the
Sonoma County or the Bay Area the health departments promoted
probiotics or even fermented foods alongside those facial fashion statements.
So instead of waiting for these mass mandates, why don't

(14:21):
we go ahead and get proactive that strong immunity. It
starts with your fork, not your face mask. So if
you're looking at a return to mask, this is really
what they're not telling you. A twenty twenty four Johns
Hopkins study found at of seventy eight studies found that
cloth masks reduced viral transmission by just about three percent.

(14:45):
And we've been talking about with a Cochrane collaboration, it's
a gold standard review concluded that mass made little to
no difference. So if you're looking to if you're looking
to boost your immune system, this is this is what
I suggest us doing. We're looking at viamin d at
least five thousand units daily and including with that, I

(15:07):
would suggest K two for absorption. You can get to
get your levels tested on this if you need to.
You can aim for about fifty to eighty units per
mill liter in your blood. Also start to increase your
zinc just forty milligrams of zinc at first symptoms of
any any type of flu related or covid covid symptoms,

(15:29):
and also improve your gut health. For here I suggest
doctor Ohira's probiotics. So the politics of fear, you know,
the fact of the matter is twelve percent higher covid
rates when you use a mask, and there's eight there's
also the mental health crisis of about twenty percent if

(15:52):
we're using mask. But the real concern here is the
viamin D deficiency. So folks, again, the bottom line, you
can't mask your way to health anymore then you can
wrap your way through bubbles in a traffic accident. All right, folks,
I wanna, I want to go ahead. Let's let's move

(16:12):
on to another topic with our with our health alternative
of the week. All right, let's let's dive into the

(16:36):
week's health alternative with a fall favor favorite and that's
caramel apples. But here's a little twist on it. Caramel
apples that are made with unrefined sugars. Here's why this
treat is a healthier twist on this classic indulgence caramel apples.
They're a quintessential fall treat. But traditional recipes often rely

(16:57):
on refined sugars and artificial ingredients, and by using unrefined sugars,
we can create a healthier version that's just as delicious,
and it's also better for your body. Unrefined sugars like
coconut sugar, maple syrup, or even honey, they retain more
nutrients than refined sugars, they're lower on the glacemic index,

(17:19):
meaning that they won't spike your blood sugar, and plus
they add a rich, complex flavor to your caramel. So
if you're looking for a recipe, you might want to
write this down. The ingredients it's really easy. It's six
medium sized apples. Of course, I'm gonna say organic if possible.
Use one cup of coconut sugar or maple syrup, one

(17:41):
half cup of heavy cream or coconut cream, and two
tablespoons of grass fed butter or coconut oil, and a
pinch of sea salt. What you want to do is
you want to prepare the apples by washing and dry
and apples thoroughly, insert wooden sticks into the tops, and
make the caramel saucepan combined the coconut sugar, the cream,

(18:03):
the butter, and the salt and heat for about five
to seven minutes. And then you can stir in some
vanilla if you like. And if you as far as
putting a caramel on the apple, just dip the apple
in the saucepan and coate it evenly. To set it,
just place the apples on a parchment line tray and
cool them in the fridge for about fifteen to twenty minutes.

(18:23):
So this recipe it swaps out refined sugars for natural alternatives,
and it reduces if you're looking at reducing that blood
sugar levels, might reduce the inflammation in it for that
blood better blood sugar control. It's true you can feel
good about and enjoy it this fall season, but remember
moderation is key. Enjoy your caramel apple as part of

(18:44):
a balanced diet, and also don't forget to tune into
for another health aturne of the week next week. Okay,
let's get to some collar questions if we can. Now,
let's get to Evangeline.

Speaker 6 (18:58):
This is Evangeline. I call earlier about my thyroid. I
wanted to tell you if you would sometimes address that
when you go get a prescription refill that they're usually
not by the same manufacture, and the drug just gives

(19:20):
it to you. I'm very sensitive to medicine and I
can tell the difference, so I thought that might be
a good subject sometimes.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
All right, Eventually, that's a very good observation, and thank
you for sharing that observation, because it's actually it's one
that so many people overlook when it comes to thyroid
health or just medication in general. So what you've noticed
that your thyroid medication sometimes comes from different manufacturers. It's

(19:51):
absolutely true, and for those sensitive individuals, it can make
a real difference in how the medication interacts with the body.
And even though the active ingredient is technically the same,
the fillers, the dies, and the binding agents fery from
brand to brand, So those inactive ingredients can change the
way your body absorbs the medicine or even trigger reactions

(20:15):
in sometimes who are very, very sensitive, like yourself. But
here's the good news. You can request consistency the next
time you feel your prescription. Ask your pharmacist to give
you the same manufacture every time. Sometimes it may take
some persistence, but it's definitely worth worth it. If you've
noticed the difference in your thyroid stability. As far as

(20:37):
a nutritional standpoint, I'd also encourage you to focus on
some support from brazil nuts, with selenium, zinc from pumpkin seeds,
and iodine from sea vegetables. They can all help that
thyroid function better, making your medication more effective. If you
pair that with some stress management and some good sleep,
you'll give your thyroid the best possible environment to to thrive. Okay, well,

(21:01):
thanks for your question, Evangeline, and uh, okay, folks, if
you've got if you've got questions, continue to give us

Two to two.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
That's where you find Doctor Bob and I and we're
staying by to help you unlock your best self. That's
eight hundred six zero six eight eight two to two.
All right, folks. Again, earlier in the show, we were
talking about about the spread downal defense system and the
game changer with it, and if you're wanting to upgrade
your oral care routine, I want you to meet the

(22:54):
spread donal defense system. That's a game changer for your smile.
It's not just about brushing and flossing. It's about using
products that work smarter. And the secret is xylotol. It's
a natural ingredient that fights cavities, it reduces plaque, and
it helps keep your breath fresh. Spry packs it in
every product, the Spry toothpaste, mouthwashed gums and mints, and

(23:17):
I also have flavors that you love like spearmint and
peppermint and cinnamon. But here's the deal. Xylotol doesn't just
feed the bacteria in your mouth, it prevents it. Instead,
it neutralizes acids and it promotes a healthy oral environment.
So if you want to know my routine, I brushed
with Spry toothpaste, I went with Spry mouthwashed and I

(23:40):
chew Spry gum after meals. It's an easy swap with
big results. And you'll find Spry at CVS, Target Rite
eight sprouts in all natural grocers' locations. And if you
want to know more, visit clear dot com. Let's spelling

belonged in your Wellness Toolkit. So your smile with Spry
in your wellness with Spray deserves this upgrade. It's time
to take care of your oral cavity and take it
to the next level with the Spray dental defense system.
All right, I want to go ahead and get to
our health outrage of the.

Speaker 10 (24:23):
Week each for the Hill outrage, because it's nothing but.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
This week's health outrage is the a secret boo job
that kills a teen girl and it was performed by
the mother's boyfriend. It's a shocking in its track detail,
and it's emerged from Durango, Mexico, and it highlights the
dangers of unregulated cosmetic procedures. In the devastating concept Quinces

(25:00):
of parental Negligence, a fourteen year old girl fourteen years
old lost her life after undergoing a secret breast augmentation
performed by her mother's boyfriend. The details of this case
they're as heartbreaking as they are infuriating. Her father was
initially told that the daughter had died from complications really

(25:22):
to COVID nineteen. However, during her funeral, family members noticed
something unusual, and that was that her chest appeared larger
than normal. When the father confronted his ex wife, she
denied any knowledge of a procedure, but the surgery it
was performed at a private private clinic in Nurngo. It

(25:43):
resulted in cardio respiratory arrest in severe brain swelling. A
hospital death certificate listed the cause of death as cerebral
edema resulting from that respiratory illness, but the final autopsy
report it's still pending. Meanwhile, the boyfriend in the alleged
surgeon has been suspended by the Mexican Association of Plastic,

(26:05):
Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the Durango's Prosecutor's office has
launched an investigation. The tragedy raises critical questions about the
ethics and safety of cosmetic procedures, especially when performed on minors.
Breast augmentation. It's a serious surgical procedure. It carries significant risk,

(26:25):
including infection, scarring, and complications for anesthesia. For this fourteen
year old girl, whose body was still developing, the risk
were even greater, but beyond the medical risk, the case
underscores the importance of parental responsibility and informed consent. Her
mother not only allowed her underage daughter to undergo an

(26:46):
unnecessary and dangerous procedure, but also conspired to hide the
truth from her ex husband. The level of deception in
the disregard for the child's well being, that's what's outrageous.
So I urge parents to prioritize their children's physical and
emotional well being over the pressures or even personal vanity.
Cosmetic surgery, it should never be a light decision, and

(27:10):
it certainly should never be performed on a minor without
thorough medical and psychological evaluation. So this case, it also
highlights the need for stricter regulations and oversight in the
cosmetic surgery industry. Unlicensed practitioners in unregulated clinics, they pose
a significant risk to public health and tragedies like this

(27:30):
young lady's death could be prevented with better enforcement of
medical standards. All right, well, let's let's go ahead and
get to get some more color questions. One from Dean
in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Speaker 11 (27:47):
Dean and hat Springs, Arkansaw.

Speaker 5 (27:49):
My question is what blood tests.

Speaker 9 (27:52):
Do I need to find out what I am missing?

Speaker 5 (27:55):
Nutritionally.

Speaker 8 (27:56):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
All right, Well, Dean, that's a excellent question because you know,
again this is one that we get quite often get
into the root of how your body is really what
it needs towards prevention and actually actually long term health
with this and many of us that we walk around
and we have low energy, we got brain fog, thinning, hair,

(28:20):
poor sleep, or even moot issues and we just chalk
it up to being stressed or aging. But really often
these are signs that something is missing nutritionally. So blood
testing can absolutely help us cover some of those gaps.
So now, the standard blood panel most doctors perform usually
checks your cholesterol, glucose, liver, even kidney function. That's considered

(28:45):
a complete blood count or complete blood study. It's useful, yes,
but it's very limited. It won't really tell us how
much or where your nutritional status is. So if you
want to dig in deeper, we also need to look
for some specific nutrient markers, like a serum ferretin test.
It's excellent for determining iron storage. If it's too low,

(29:07):
you may risk anemia. If it's too high, it can
create more of an oxidative stress or inflammation in the body.
Vitamin D testing is another essential test, and it's especially
if you live in those northern climates and if you
spend little time outdoors or you struggle with bone or
immune health. Then there's vitamin B twelve and FOL eight.

(29:28):
These are critical for nerve function, mood, and red cell
red blood cell formation. Many people, especially as they age
or if they take acid blocking medication, they might be
deficient in B twelve without realizing it, So I encourage
you to check your homocysteine levels, which is a functional
marker that not only reflects your B twelve in your

(29:49):
folllate status, but also B six and that tells us
about cardiovascular risk. For minerals, a red blood cell magnesium
test is far more accurate than standard serum magnesium magnesium.
It's involved in over three hundred reactions into body, everything
from muscle relaxation to sleep to blood sugar control, so

(30:11):
it's one of the most important nutrients to keep an
eye on. Zinc and copper balance is another thing worth
it's testing, and since these two minerals, they influence everything
from your immune system to connect a tissue and hormone balance.
So for this I love these functional nutritional panels. They
look at organic acids in a urine, and they measure

(30:33):
intercellular nutrients that are maybe often deficient. So if you
want these tests, you know these lab tests a lot
of times are just part of the story. Your symptoms,
your lifestyle, and your diet are equally important. All right, Well,
thanks for your question, Dean, and we'll look forward to
answering more after we break you listen to the Doctor
Bob Martin Show.

let's dive back into today's conversation with our product recall.

(35:10):
All right, this week's product recall. It's another deodorant one.
It's Mitcham, a well known deodorant brand under the Revelon umbrella.
It's found itself at the center of this. What began
as an isolated complaint on social media has escalated into
a full blown legal battle, with multiple women claiming that
the brand's roll on deodorant burnt through their skin. Last month,

(35:35):
social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram were flooded with
images in videos from users who reported severe skin reactions
after using Mitcham's reformulated roll on deodorant. The complaints ranged
from painful rashes and blisters to deep scarring burns. One user,
a forty two year old female, described her experience as

(35:57):
one of the worst pains I've ever had. After just
one use, she developed deep brown scarring under her left armpit,
which she fears may be permanent. Mitcham quickly issued a
public apology, acknowledging that a change in the manufacturing process
had altered how some batches of their products interacted with
the skin. The company withdrew eight effective products from the market,

(36:21):
but for many consumers the damage was already done. So
we got three women who have launched a full on
legal action against Mitcham, a legend that the company failed
to ensure the safety of their products. The claims included
lasting scars, ongoing pain, and in some cases, infections that
required medical treatment. A pharmaceutical expert, Professor Penny Ward, from

(36:46):
King's College of London, suggested that the reactions may be
linked to two new ingredients in the reformulated products. Both
are known as skin irritants in many individuals. Ward emphasized
that while most dermatitis rashes are itchy, the pain reported
by these users could indicate infections require an antibiotic or
anti fungal treatment. So in this incident, it's not isolated

(37:09):
to women. Men have also come forward with similar complaints.
Underscored the widespread impact of these faulty products. The scandal
it sparked a broader conversation about the consumer trust and
the responsibility of companies and testing that happens, that needs
to happen before these products hit the shelves. Okay, let's uh.

(37:31):
Let's get to uh. To a question from Mitchell in Manitoba,
North Dakota.

Speaker 5 (37:37):
Mitchell from, I got Manicure and Makid Health insurance, but
I would like to know how I can't improve it?
Since I got try brands you from car Accent and
I collect so securities. Really, how I can improve my
health insurance and my healthcare and the what I received,
and not just me, but for the general public. Mitchell,

(38:00):
for sure, third Street North does.

Speaker 8 (38:05):
Four.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
All right, thank you for your call, Mitchell, and thanks
calling from North Dakota. And again, this is a question
I get from time to time, especially especially in the clinics,
about insurance. So I did want to try to answer this,
and I appreciate you being proactive on this, not just
for your own healthcare coverage, but also for thinking about

(38:29):
how these symptoms are these systems they may help the
serve the entire public. So first, let's clarify what your
current situation is. As someone on Social Security disability insurance,
you're likely enrolled in Medicare and you also may qualify
for Medicaid and if with this dual eligibility it can

(38:51):
it significantly can have help your benefits by covering costs
that Medicare doesn't, like copays or long term care. So
this is my suggestions for you to review your plan annually.
There's Medicare advantage Part C or Part D prescription plans
and they change yearly, so what you want to do,

(39:13):
you can head to the government websites Medicare dot gov
and look for the Medicare plan finder. During open enrollment,
which we're at right now between October fifteenth and December seventh,
you can compare plans. You can also look for lower
premiums and better drug coverage, or you can add benefits

(39:34):
like dental and vision. So you can also apply for
extra help, especially if you need income subsidies. There's federal
programs out there that reduce the Part D drug costs.
And if you're initially denied, you can appeal with documentation,
especially medical bills at the pharmacy. As far as the

(39:57):
state goes, you may contact your state, in this case
North Dakota in a there's anycaid expansion plans that might
help you with things like home and community based services
and buy in programs for people that try to try
to work with disabilities to let you earn a little
bit of income without losing your benefits. And again Mitchell,

(40:21):
I encourage you to to seek some free canceling. A
lot of the states will help you with that. All
you got to do is look into your state Health Association,
the insurance Association programs assistance, and as far as that goes,
I hope you hope you find what you're looking for there.
If you need more help, give us a call back
at eight hundred and six or six eight eight two

If you're a big sports fan like me, sometimes the
best part about watching a football game are the pre
and post game shows. Well, it's the same for probiotics.
The most important part of probiotics are the prebiotics and
post biotics that come along. Not all probiotics have this
superior combination. That's why I only buy Doctor o'heres probiotics.
You see, prebiotics feed the probiotic colonies and your intestines,

(42:12):
and post biotics are the organic nutrients produced by doctor
o'heres three year fermentation process that become the foundation for
long term colonization of the good bacteria in your body.
This is so important. No other probiotic formula has this.
As I get older, I want to protect my health
