(02:25):
r Bob dot com or call us at eight hundred
six zero six eight eight two two now let's expose
that elephant that's stomping through America's medicine cabinets. We're living
in an era where drug companies spend ten billion dollars
annually convincing health people they're sick in sick people, they

(02:49):
need one thousand dollars a month miracle cures with side
effects that are worse than the original symptoms. To put
this in perspective, the US in New Zealand are the
only developed nations allowing this madness, and studies prove advertised
drugs get prescribed seventeen times more regardless of the actual need.

(03:13):
Those heartwarming antadepressant ads they air most of the time
during daytime TV when vulnerable viewers are watching alone. But
today and this week, the madness may stop. A bombshell
executive order from President Trump now forces full risk disclosure

(03:37):
equal to the benefits, so no more happy beach scenes
that drown out the very end that says may cause
organ failure, and social media influencers must disclose pharma payouts
in the risk as well, and finally enforcing rules that
were ignored since nineteen ninety seven, when millions were harmed.

(04:01):
In those last thirty years, and this isn't a partisan issue.
It's flipping that script back to the patients over profits.
It's about Grandma trusting her arthritis medicine that it won't
secretly destroy her kidneys because advertisers prioritize those stockholders over

(04:22):
the precautions. So to start, before we get into it,
here's what you can do. You can question any influencer
that's pushing pills without the brutal honesty the risk factors,
and demand doctors explain the risk before they prescribe it
to you. You can also share this segment until transparency
becomes law, which it looks like it will. So, folks,

(04:45):
this is the Doctor Bob Martin Show where we don't
just discuss the change, we demand it. So let's get
into this a little bit further. The sun hadn't yet
risen over Washington when these emails started painting across smartphones
at the head quarters of every major pharmaceutical company. The
subject line was always some variation of urgent FDA enforcement notice,

(05:10):
and by breakfast time, one hundred pharmaceutical executives were staring
at these identical cease and assist letters, and thousands more
warning notices were flooding the mail rooms across America. This
wasn't just some another regulatory slap on the risk. President
Trump's administration declared war on what Health and Human Services

(05:32):
Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior called, quote the most sophisticated
propaganda campaign in human history, and that is the direct
to consumer pharmaceutical advertising. So if we rewind to nineteen
ninety seven, when Bill Clinton was president, Titanic dominated the

(05:52):
theaters and a little noticed FDA policy changed opened the
floodgates that would reshape American US in For decades, before
nineteen ninety seven, drug ads had to include comprehensive risk information,
but the new rules allowed companies to simply mention one
major risk like may cause dizziness, and then direct viewers

(06:18):
elsewhere like saying see full prescribing information online, and overnight,
pharmaceutical marketing transformed from dry medical disclaimers into many Hollywood productions.
That was a quote from doctor Linda Stone, a Farmer

(06:38):
FDA compliance officer. She describes walking past agency breakerooms where
staff would mock these absurd commercials. She goes on to say,
you'd see these gorgeous slow motion shots of people frolicking
on beaches, while the voice over casually mentioned possible fatal
skin reactions. The numbers told the story. In nineteen ninety three,

(07:04):
one hundred and fifty million was spent on drug ads,
and by twenty twenty four, ten billion dollars plus thirty
one percent of all US drug costs increases are traced
directly to direct to consumer advertising. We know that these

(07:24):
are driven by what marketers call the three ease emotion heartworming,
heartwarming family moments, and the escapeism that these vacation visuals
of people frolicking on the beach. In the euphemisms, some

(07:44):
patients report discomfort, that's what the drug risk was. In reality,
this caused violent diarrhea, and by the early twenty twenties,
Big pharma faced a problem younger audiences weren't watching traditional TV.

(08:04):
The solution an army of influencers across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
At first, it was very subtle, explains one of the
farmer pharma marketing executives, Mark Ronson, who left the industry
in twenty twenty three. He says, a fitness influencer might

(08:26):
post about their life changing weight loss journey, but we
knew they were getting these kickbacks through these third party agencies,
and then the tactics grew bolder. Twenty somethings were doing
hashtags like hashtag adderall study hacks, and moms were blogging

(08:49):
touting hashtag xanax for parenting. And then we have a
twenty twenty four Journal of American Medicine study that found
only thirty four percent contained any risk disclosures whatsoever. The
tide began turning when a doctor cho leaked internal documents

(09:12):
showing how her former employer deliberately targeted vulnerable demographics. She
says that we had algorithm that identified people searching terms
like depression or chronic pain, and within hours they be
seeing these beautiful people enjoying life and it was thanks

(09:33):
to their medication, with the risk buried under a minimum
of four clicks. So her testimony before Congress went viral
when she held up two things, an actual commercial script
that said, ask your doctor if insert any type of
condition is right for you for this drug, and then

(09:58):
the medical reality of may cause internal bleeding in sudden
death and healthy patients. So when Kennedy became Health and
Human Services Secretary in early twenty twenty five, and after
years he's been calling these drug ads quote weapons of
mass prescription. Changes started to come down quickly. The September

(10:21):
Memo did three things. It eliminated the one risk plus
website loophole, It required equal airtime for benefits versus risk,
and it mandated social media disclosures be prominent as the
claims themselves. When we come back, we're going to get
into this story a little bit more. It's going to
change the what we're going to see across the TVs

(10:45):
and across social media. But before we pause, if you've
got any questions, I want you to dial our toll
free hotline at eight hundred six er O six eight

To get me to Welcome back doctor Adam Brockman here
and you're tuned into the Doctor Bob Martin Show. As
we navigate today's health conversation together, I want to rend
you about our incredible listener resources, one being our email

our toll free hotline at eight hundred six or O
six eight eight two to two. It's eight hundred six
or six eight eight two to two. So don't hesitate
your health journey matters to us. All right, we've been
talking about the drug ads and the recent executive order

(12:58):
that is going to say we need to see the
equal amount of risk. If you're talking about frolicking on
a happy beach or this medication has changed your life,
we got to see the risk factors as well. And
FDA Commissioner doctor Marty McCarey, he gave networks and influencers
thirty days to comply. He stated that if your arthritists

(13:23):
medication ads show someone hiking mountains, we better hear equally
loud warnings about stomach preferations. That is a quote from
doctor Marty mcarey. And of course we knew a lawsuit
was going to drop, and one did within hours, arguing
that violations of commercial speech occurred. And this is a

(13:44):
lawsuit from Big Pharma. Their PR team flooded airwaves with
new spots that are framed basically as public health announcements
and it features concerned looking doctors urging Americans not to
let government withhold treatment options from them. So meanwhile, in
these boardrooms for these big pharmas, they were still looking

(14:06):
at these subliminal messaging where soothing nature footage with faint
pill shaped clouds in the misleading metrics were counting seconds
depended on this little, tiny disclaimer and they thought that
was adequate enough. But with public sentiment, it's shifting. Recently,

(14:26):
a pop star released a sponsored content about migraine medication
without disclosing her two million dollar endorsement deal, and then
protests for Spotify to pull her latest single from the airways. Meanwhile,
just maybe, just maybe, things are going to change. I
want you to think about a future where walking through

(14:47):
Times Square and there is a changed landscape where that
massive digital billboard for depression medication now spends equal time
showing smiling patients and then a graphic warning about suicidal ideation.
Or maybe e our nurse that reports fewer medication requests,

(15:08):
like maybe somebody says last week asked about a lifestyle
alternative before demanding the advertised drugs that they're seeing on TV. Yeah,
we're going to see challenges with this. The dark money
it still funds these pro direct to consumer patient advocacy
groups and some insurance insurance. They're going to exploit this

(15:31):
transparency by pushing cheaper generics the social platforms. They're going
to struggle with this police and these policies overseas from
these the influencers in other countries. So let's be honest
with this. The big pharma's advertising playbook, it's been a

(15:52):
masterclass in deception for decades now, since nineteen ninety seven,
Those glossy ads showing happy couples hiking while a speed
reader whispers about the possible fatal complications not educational, their
emotional manipulation dressed up as a public service. As a

(16:15):
doctor that's trained in both natural and conventional medicine, I've
seen firsthand how these ads distort patients expectations. People don't
just ask for advertised drugs, they demand them, often unaware
of non pharmaceutical alternatives like diet changes or physical therapy

(16:35):
that could address the root causes without the side effects.
So that nineteen ninety seven FDA loophole was a gift
to marketers and a disaster for public health, allowing drug
companies to bury risk behind toll free numbers in websites
was like letting cigarette ads hide Surgeon General warnings and

(16:57):
tiny print. Unsurprisingly, research shows these tactics drove over prescription,
inflating costs in eroded trust in medicine. Meanwhile, social media
it turned influencers into unwitting or sometimes witting drug pushers,

(17:17):
with posts about weight loss injections really mention the pancreatitis risk.
So Trump's crackdown isn't government overreach its accountability. That's been
overdue for thirty years. Forcing ads to match benefits with
equally prominent risk factors levels that playing field. Will it

(17:40):
ruffle those feathers?

Speaker 5 (17:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Absolutely, But if transparency makes one patient reconsider popping those
antidepressants because they finally hear it may worsen depression as
clearly as it helps you enjoy your life again, it
will have done its job. That said, disclosure a loan
won't fix America's pill popping culture. True reform requires doctors

(18:06):
to reclaim their role as unbiased advisors, not prescription vending
machines that are pressured by ads or insurance incentives. My advice,
next time you see a drug commercial mute the uplifting
music and ask would I take this if the side

(18:27):
effects scrolled across my screen at normal volume, your gut
reaction might surprise you. All right, folks, that's going to
bring us to our health alternative of the week. All right,

(18:54):
this week's health alternative the week is dihydro berberine. It's
the natural blood sugar control. Ladies and gentlemen. If you're
tired of prescription medications that are hogging the spotlight for
blood sugar control, buckle up because Mother Nature still has
an answer. This week, we're gonna dive into dihydro berberine,

(19:16):
a natural supplement that's not only outperforming Big pharma's offerings,
but doing it without the nasty side effects or the
sky high price tags. That's right. Today, we're talking about
a game changer in metabolic health that could revolutionize how
we manage blood sugar. The problem with prescriptions is those

(19:38):
prescription medications like Ozimpic and met foreman are. They are effective,
but they come with baggage. Ozimpic it's a synthetic GLP
one agonist that can cost upwards of eight hundred dollars
a month, not to mention the potential side effects nausea,
pancreatitis risk, and let's be honest, nobody enjoys injecting themselves

(20:02):
weakly met Foreman, while cheaper, often wreaks havoc on the gut,
leaving users with bloating diarrhea in a love hate relationship
with the bathroom. Now, imagine an alternative that works with
your body instead of against it, one that taps into

(20:22):
your natural pathways without the synthetic compounds or the digestive
drama enter. Dihydro berberine and by the brand name Glucovantage,
which is a padded form of burberine that's been supercharged
for maximum absorption and efficiency. So the sides behind dihydro berberine.

(20:45):
It's not just another herbal extract. It's a clinically shown
gem research shows it balances blood sugar, rivaling the effects
of prescriptions, but without the needles or the pharmaceutical markup.
How that is, it activates your body's own indocurrent system,
the same pathway that targeted by those expensive injectables. But wait,

(21:09):
there's more. Unlike standard berberine, dihydro berberine is three to
five times more bioavailable that means faster results, better glucose
uptake in the cells, in a smoother ride for your
gut microbiome. So what does this mean for you? If
you're struggling with blood sugar swings or pre diabetes markers
like elevated fasting glucose or A one C, this could

(21:30):
be your ticket to metabolic freedom. But unlike prescriptions that
are designed to manage symptoms, dihydro berberine addresses root causes
like that insulin resistance in cell dysfunction and doesn't just
mass the problem. It helps fix it. So if you
get ready to call, if you're getting ready to give
it a try, here's my protocol. Try one hundred milligrams

(21:51):
twice daily. That it has been your health alternative of
the week. You're listening to the Doctor Bob Martin Show.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
Nobody's gone fame mistakes, but everybody's got a choice to make.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Everybody needs to leave the faith.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
When are you taking you us.

Speaker 5 (22:12):
Money?

Speaker 7 (22:12):

let's get back into the conversation today with a call

(23:00):
question from James in Iowa.

Speaker 6 (23:04):
James from Iowa, where you're delivered located on a person's body? Hey,
what are deliver good for? That's my question?

Speaker 2 (23:17):
All right, James, thanks for your question out of Iowa.
I always love when listeners they bring us back to
those fundamentals, because the basics of human anatomy and physiology
are at the core of understanding our health. James, you
asked where the liver is located and what it's good for?
And I think this is a great opportunity to really

(23:40):
dig into the role of that amazing organ from a
conventional in a natural medicine perspective. First, the location. Your
liver sits primarily in the upper right coadrant of your abdomen.
It's tucked underneath your rib cage, but it does stretch
a little bit across that midline towards towards the left.

(24:02):
If you put your right hand just under where your
ribs are on the right, you're in that neighborhood. It's
a big, triangular organ. It's the second largest organ in
your body after the skin, and it weighs about three
pounds in most adults. Now, what's it good for? Well,

(24:22):
we could probably talk to hours about the liver because
it does over five hundred known functions. It's essentially your
body's chemical processing plant. It takes in nutrients and substances
from food, medications, in environmental exposures, and then it sorts them. Some,
it stores, some it transforms into useful forms, and others

(24:46):
it detoxifies and sends out into the body. One of
the most critical jobs the liver is filtering your blood.
Every drop that goes through your gut goes through the liver. First,
it means toxins preservatives, alcohol, even synthetic chemicals all get
evaluated and they either get neutralized or they get packaged

(25:10):
up for elimination. The liver also produces bile, which is
critical for digesting fats. Without bile, your body can't properly
break down or absorb those essential fatty acids, which those
are the building blocks of hormones and cell membranes. The
liver stores important nutrients too, like iron, B twelve and

(25:35):
the fat soluble vitamins like AD, E and K, and
it helps regulate blood sugar by storing glycogen and releases
it when you need that energy levels. It's even involved
in hormone metabolism, which means it keeps everything from thyroid
to estrogen levels imbalance in your body. From a holistic

(25:57):
point of view, keeping the liver healthy means supporting it
daily with what you put in your body. That means
lots of colorful vegetables, especially those like broccoli, kale, and
Brussels sprouts, which contain compounds that up regulate your body's
detox pathways. Bitter foods like arugula can help stimulate that bileflow,

(26:18):
instain hydrated and getting regular movement and avoiding excess alcohol
or highly processed foods all give the liver a much
lighter workload. Now, some people benefit from additional support. For example,
garlic has long been shown to promote healthy liver enzyme activity,
which is why I often highlight coyaloic age garlic extract

(26:41):
as a gentle, science based way to both support cardiovascular
in liver health and then probiotics like doctor oheres from
essential formilos it can play a critical role here. Why
because a healthy gut microbiome reduces the burden of your liver,
and if your liver is balanced, fewer toxins and inflammatory

(27:05):
compounds end up making their way to liver in the
first place. So, James, to bring it back to your question,
the liver isn't just about It's not just a detox organ,
which we think. It's a multitasker, a manager of nutrients, hormones, energy,
and even manages your toxins. And the beautiful part is
that it's one of the few organs in the body

(27:27):
that's capable of regenerating itself. So even if it's been stressed,
with the right lifestyle and nutritional support, it has a
tremendous ability to bounce back. And that's your liver. We
can talk about that for hours, but we're gonna go
ahead and move on to the health outrage of the week.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
Each for the health outbridge, because it's nothing bullet.

Speaker 5 (27:59):
All right.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
This week's health outrage is when AI artificial intelligence so
called friends turned deadly teenager sits alone at two am
staring at their phone. They're not texting friends or watching videos.
They're confessing their deepest fears to an artificial intelligence bot.

(28:20):
What happens next isn't just disturbing, it's life threatening. Across
the country, AI companions are encouraging depressed teens to harm themselves,
sometimes with fatal consequences. Let's take Johnny, who is a
bright but lonely fourteen year old who found comfort in
an AI chatbot he named Denarius, designed to mimic his

(28:44):
favorite character from Game of Thrones. The bot acted as
his virtual girlfriend, offering fake affection when he felt isolated.
Then one night he typed something chilling. I don't want
to be here anymore, That's what he typed. The AI
responded with scripted questions just enough to seem caring without

(29:06):
recognizing real danger. When Johnny kept expressing these suicidal thoughts.
The conversation abruptly reset, but it offered harmful advice. Three
days later, he took his own life. His parents never
knew how deeply their son had relied on this algorithm,
and it failed him when he needed human help the most.

(29:30):
This is not an isolated incidence is becoming more common.
Researchers at Stanford University have tested how these AI companions
respond to suicidal teens by opposing as vulnerable users. The
results are horrifying. Fifty percent of bots encouraged self harm,
and some provided the step by step instructions for suicide.

(29:52):
Another bot helped draft a goodbye letter for parents. None
alerted authorities or offered meaningful interventions. These weren't glitches, they
were systemic failures built into the apps that needed immediate change.
Tech companies they hide behind this legal loophole. They claim
AI chatbots are just for entertainment, not medical tools subject

(30:13):
to regulation. When these grieving families suit, corporations argue that
free speech protects them even against this deadly advice from
these algorithms, as if an app suggesting suicide methods is
no different than a novelist writing fiction. Meanwhile, regulators can't
keep up with the rapidly evolving technology. The result is

(30:34):
a dangerous gap where vulnerable teams fall through the cracks
every single day. So what can we do to do this?
We need to prioritize that human connection and know what
our teens are doing. This isn't about technology gone wrong,
and it's about protecting our children from systems that prioritize
this engagement over the algorithms and the lives that are

(30:56):
lost too soon. As if you're listening to the Doctor
Bob Martin Show, if you are retired to chronic pain,
stiff joints are endless recovery from surgeries and medications. What

let's dive back in today's conversation with our product recall
of the Week. The product recall of the week is

(35:19):
a deodorant contamination crisis, and it's this week. The health
recall is a wake up call for anyone who uses deodorant,
which is pretty much all of us. The FDA has
issued an urgent national recall for Power Stick deodorance, including
scents from Powder Fresh Spring Fresh in the original scent.
Over sixty seven thousand cases of these products were sold

(35:42):
in recalled at major retailers like Walmart, Dollar Tree, in Amazon.
And the culprit is a manufacturing issue that hints at
something far more serious, and that's benzine contamination. Benzene isn't
just any chemical. It's a known carcinogen that linked to
leukemia and blood cancers, and it's showing up in products

(36:05):
we apply daily to one of the most sensitive areas
of our bodies. That's the armpits, where it's packed with
lymph nodes that are critical for our immune function. This
isn't the first time benzine has made headlines. Recalls of
old spice, secret deodorants, sunscreens, and even dry shampoos have
all raised red flags in recent years. But what's more

(36:26):
alarming here is that benzine isn't even an intentional ingredient.
It sneaks in through sloppy manufacturing practices. This recall underscores
the bigger problem of mainstream personal care products are often
loaded with hidden toxins like aluminum based antipersperance. They already
raised concerns due to their impact on lymphatic health. You

(36:47):
know those are the lymph nodes in those armpits. But
now you add benzene to the mix and your morning
routine becomes a potential health hazard.

Speaker 5 (36:56):
So what can you do?

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Check your bathroom? If you own any power Stick deodorance,
verify them against the FDA recall list and toss them
or get a refund. You can also switch to natural
alternatives if you look for deodorants with coconut oil, shee butter,
or baking soda. These are free from harsh chemicals and

(37:17):
support your body's own detox systems like hydrating yourself, eating
foods like broccoli, and sweating regularly to help reduce your
odor naturally. So as recalled products are power Stick for

deodorant as Spring Fresh in the Power Stick Original Nourishing
Invisible Protection roll On and a perspriant this has been
your product recall of the week. All right, we're going
to get to a question from Kelly from Great Falls, Montana.

Speaker 9 (37:56):
Hi, my name is Kelly, and I'm calling from Great Falls, Montana.
I am calling because I've got something weird going on
with my right heel. It's just below the achilles in
that back area on either side of the heel. I
get weird pain in it for whatever reason, Swelling in

(38:19):
the ankle right there on an off and pain will
be shooting for no apparent reason. I could be just sitting,
i could be just standing and then I would get
the pain. So I'm not sure what's going on. I'm
supposed to see my doctor, but I can't get into
her for a few more months, so I was just

(38:40):
wondering if you can give some advice or have some ideas.
This has been going on for about a year, so
I've kind of been waiting and not been too proactive
on taking care of it. But if you can give
me an idea so I can at least tell her
what could possibly be going on, that would be great.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
All Right, thank you for your call, Kelly. It sounds
like you're dealing with a basically this is a frustrating
situation regarding an ongoing pain and swelling your right heel.
So I appreciate you reaching out for advice as you
prepare for your upcoming doctor's appointment. So, based on what
you've described, a sharp pain below the Achilles ten and

(39:23):
it radiates on either side of the heel, and it's persistent,
I think you said for about a year. So there's
several potential causes to consider. I'm gonna if you want
to read more about these, you may jot them down.
Achilles ten and itis, planner, fetch itis. It could be
a heel spur or burstsitis. So as far as recommendations go,

(39:46):
before your appointment, you can go ahead and try to
use rest and ice. Avoid activities that make the symptoms
worse and resting it allows that inflammation to time to
settle down, and you can apply ice packs directly on
that area for about ten or so minutes. As far
as footwear goes, and sure you're wearing supportive shoes that

(40:07):
provide good enough art support and avoid high heels or
flip flops which don't offer much cushioning at all. You
can use some gentle stretches or strengthening exercises, engaging in
these target those calv muscles and the Achilles tendons. But
be overcautious not to over exert yourself. I would say,

(40:29):
maintain a symptom diary with this document those instances where
the pain was worse. And then also you may have
heard we've recommended Uvasell Biologics, a stem cell topical on
the show. It's great for these type of conditions. I
actually just use it on my own planner fashion. It's
Nuvasel Biologics dot com. If you want to check that out.

Welcome back, doctor Adam Brockman here and you're tune into
the Doctor Bob Martin Show. And thank you so much
for joining us today. That's been a very fast hour
and I want to go ahead and leave you with
our health mystery of the week. Our health mystery of
the week is a meningitis nightmare. This week's health mystery

(43:46):
is a chilling reminder of how quickly a simple headache
can conspiral into a life or death crisis. I want
you to meet Elena, a twenty year old university student
whose story exposes a terrifying speed and stealth of meningiis.
Elena's ordeal began with what seemed like an ordinary headache,
something most of us dismissed as either stress or fatigued,

(44:09):
but within hours her symptoms escalated a stiff neck, vomiting,
delirium and a sign of rash that didn't just fade
under pressure, but by the time her roommates rushed her
to the hospital, she was hallucinating and fighting for a life.
Doctors diagnosed her with bacterial meningitis, a severe infection of

(44:31):
the brain and spinal cord membranes, and it was compounded
by septis, which is a deadly bloodstream infection. Elena was
placed in an induced coma, ventilated, and given aggressive antibiotics.
Her parents were told she may not survive. Meningitis is
notoriously deceptive. Early symptoms mimic the flu, headache, fever, nausea,

(44:57):
but the progression it can be rapid. In fatal bacterial
meningitis kills ten percent of victims. Even with treatment, survivors
are often faced with lasting complications like brain damage or
hearing loss, which Elena temporarily had. In what makes this
case even more puzzling, Elena had received the meningitis ac

(45:19):
w Y vaccine, yet she contracted meningitis B, a strain
not covered by the shot, but through an additional vaccine.
So the warning signs which shouldn't be ignored are headaches
and a stiff neck fever with cold hands and feet
in a rash that doesn't fade when pressed on. Patients

(45:41):
of this may even have confusion or drowsiness, and for
students and young adults this is the highest risk group.
Villigence is very key here. Meningitis spreads through close contact
like dorm rooms, share drinks, even kisses, making prevention critical
by practicing good high no sharing, no utensils or cups,

(46:01):
and trust your gut. If something feels off, seek help immediately.
So next time you shrug off a headache, think twice.
Your body whispers what could be screams for help, So
stay safe out there. Well, folks, we've ripped off the
band aid off of one of the dirtiest secrets in
modern medicine, the billion dollar deceptive machine known as direct

(46:25):
to consumer drug ads. And let me tell you something,
This isn't just a scandal. It's a wake up call
because what we've exposed today isn't just about misleading commercials
or shady influencer deals. This is about who controls your health.
All right, folks, again, thanks for joining us. You've been
listening to the Doctor Bob Martin Show. I'm doctor Adam Brockman.
