Hal Lindsey predicted that the end of the world would occur in 1988. Despire this kind of embarrassment to the Christian community, evangelicals Tim LaHaye, Thomas Ice, Grant Jeffries and others continue to point to 1948 as proof that Israel remains God's chosen people and that we are living in the last days.
