Welcome to Words of Radiance, where light meets life. Hello
and welcome. You're tuning into Words of Radiance, where the
wisdom of scripture illuminates our lives and deepens our faith.
Today we are blessed to hear from the inspiring voice
of doctor Troy, whose words are sure to challenge, uplift
and strengthen us. Before we begin, here is a special
message for today. No matter where you find yourself in life,

(00:27):
whether in seasons of joy or struggle, God's light is
always present. His word is not just something to hear,
it's something to live. Today. Open your heart and let
truth transform you, because in his radiance we find strength, hope,
and renewal. Get ready to step into the warmth of
his promises, the power of his presence, and the depth
of his love. Let's begin.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Hello and welcome. I'm doctor Troy. During one of my
sessions with some oh, you know, it's kind of weird,
I don't know really what to call them. I don't
like calling them students, I don't like calling them clients.
Because we're all trying to get to this place of
oh peace, freedom inside being, this just simply being in

(01:21):
joy in ourselves and so letting go of all of
these external things that the brain would try to sick
us on. I feel like we're like little puppies and
instead just simply being completely at peace and at one
with ourselves, completely joyful within. And of course that's ultimately

(01:44):
what everybody wants, but they don't even know it, most
of them. And if you're on that journey where you're like, hey,
what's this being free kind of thing? What's this being
grateful kind of thing? I'm interested when I ask people, so,
what are you grateful for? And they start listing all
the things that they are grateful for, which I will do.
I think it's wise to acknowledge those things that we're

(02:07):
just simply so darned thankful for. And that's a great
place to be. It's a lot better place, or at
least a more positive place. I won't want to say
better or worse. You can do as you wish, but
it's a much more positive place to simply start counting
your blessings, so to speak, and simply look around and
look at everything that is just truly magnificent and actually

(02:31):
quite beautiful. However, we want that to eventually get to
a place where it's not a gratefulness about things. It's
an internal gratitude just being one, just being together with
everyone as one. And yet it's an internal position, yet

(02:54):
it seems externally positioned. And so the other day though,
I had asked these group of individuals that I work with,
what is it to be free? What is freedom? What
is just being happy? What would make you happy? And

(03:15):
that's kind of a leading question because you're like, well,
you're asking them what would make them happy? Well, yes,
but ultimately, if we let go and we ask what
would literally make me happy? What is being free? And
the trouble is is that when we are so myopic
and only body focused, we're either trying to live vicariously

(03:40):
through our taste buds or our visual senses, our eyes
or our ears, like the music that we want to
listen to or the people that we want to talk to,
or the sounds that make us joyful or seem to
add joy to us. Or it's maybe a sensation like
petting a kitten or a soft puppy, or smelling like

(04:03):
the breath of a puppy or the breath of a baby,
or you know, the smell of a flower, the coming
home in your spouse, is making scones or something amazingly delicious,
and you're just like, oh, my goodness, that smells awesome.
I have seven or eight blueberry plants around my house

(04:28):
and it's spring right now in April, and that what
I call the bells are on. They look like little
bells hanging off where all the berries are going to
end up being. And these little bells, I had no
idea that they had a fragrance. And so the first time,
after having blueberry plants for I don't know how long,
I smelled the little flowers that were on the plants

(04:50):
and the little bells, and I thought, oh my goodness,
they have such a great aroma. And I thought, that's
so neat. We tend to miss these things. But now
I can be grateful for that too if I wanted to.
But ultimately, when we begin to wear this body, this container,

(05:11):
this shall I be more crass prison, this box that
we find ourselves and called the body, can be very
disconcerting and very troublesome when it comes to trying to
see truly trying to just simply be grateful. And again,

(05:31):
if you're out there and you're on that journey, I
love it. I come in contact with folks that are
very legalistic in terms, and I say, well, you can't
say good morning, because that means you're mourning. That means
you're depressed and you're mourning the day, and it's about death. Yes,
I guess if you want to take it literally that way,
you could. You could dissect each word you say and

(05:55):
start to become very careful and very litigious, something legal, legalistic,
whatever you want to call it, and you can separate
yourself even more. But ultimately, words only have the meaning
that you give them. And so when we look at freedom,

(06:19):
the body tends to hijack that word and say, freedom
is being able to do whatever I want in the body,
like anything I want to eat and anywhere I want
to go, and anything I want to experience. I have
complete freedom to do that. That means I've got all
the money. And so money is freedom, and having a

(06:41):
body work right is freedom. And whatever we attach to freedom. Yet,
as I told my group of individuals, I said, look,
it does not matter if you have all the money.
It does not matter if you have all these experiences.
You're still going to your brain and your egoic mechanism

(07:02):
with you. And if you haven't been free of it,
then you will never be free. Because the ego is
a tyrant. It is not going to let you, in
any way, shape or form, be happy because there are
two things that make the ego unhappy, not getting what
it wants and getting what it wants. And so if

(07:25):
you haven't gathered that, it's very difficult to ever just
simply be happy. In your brain. It doesn't work that way.
It's constantly looking at everything in terms of threats. What
will bring me peace and joy is not necessarily in
its language. Unless you view the ego as the spiritual
pinnacle of everybody, come and bow down and worship at me.

(07:49):
And if you're out there thinking, man, I just love
doctor Troy. He's the best. He's amazing, I would hope
that you would not do that very long, but that
you would begin to turn inward and say, hmm. Inside
me is this well spring of joy, this well spring
of love, this well spring of peace. That that is

(08:10):
what freedom is, being free within your mind, free of
all negativity, free of this little chirping voice that constantly
plagues you, free of the beliefs that you've shoved in
your own head that now run your day, to day
experiences on which you judge everything. I mean, you've all

(08:31):
been there and seen people that have literally they find
the negative and everything. Can't you just be happy? For once?
You know you'll ask them this, And so it doesn't
matter what the situation is. If you're not happy, it
won't make you happy. But if you are free and
are joyful and are at peace and realize that the

(08:54):
life that you are that flows within you is very palpable,
if you'll simply be still and tell the brain to
shut up, you'll all of a sudden realize that, ah,
I am free. Being free is wonderful. Being happy, that's

(09:16):
my constant state. Well, happiness is fleeting, it's based on
external experiences. You've got to have joy. Well, you can
also use those words to now bledge in yourself and
say that only joy is happy and that happiness is
not joyful. I don't mind. This is your experience, but

(09:37):
I'm going to choose to call it happiness if that's okay.
And so being happy is an inner state. It's not
dependent on external things and shouldn't be. Even as I
was driving to work today, I thought, ah, I made
the two lights that I love to make because it's
just the best when I make them. I thought, are

(09:58):
you experience seeing joy based on external experiences? And I thought,
I suppose I am, And it didn't really matter, but
I was delighted to get to those two green lights anyways.
And then it began to think, well, could I take
every experience captive and now simply experience a joyful pleasance,

(10:24):
so joyful delight, joyful happiness in everything that happens around me,
and of course the biblical scripture that comes to mind
count everything as joyful. Ah, Yes, this is the meaning
I get it. When I am internally free and internally

(10:44):
joyful and internally happy, I now am being exactly as
I was designed and created to be, and so are you.
So begin that process of letting go of just simply
being and knowing that I could be grateful for everything,

(11:08):
and I am actually free to especially experience everything as
I wish, and to judge it as I wish it
to be, or to stop judgment altogether and simply be
free of it all. And when I do these things
and being internally grateful and eternally grateful and internally free

(11:31):
and eternally free, I realize that happiness is on its heels,
and I'm returned to just a beautiful state of being,
that which we are. So let us get there more quickly.
Review this if you wish, many times, but it's better
to experience things, for information does not transform, revelation does.

(11:57):
And revelation comes from deep within, and we'll discuss that
at more depth and more detail as we will go along.
Until next time, I'm doctor Troy, and remember you have
nothing to do, only something to see.
