and welcome. You're tuning into Words of Radiance, where the
wisdom of scripture illuminates our lives and deepens our faith.
Today we are blessed to hear from the inspiring voice
of doctor Troy, whose words are sure to challenge, uplift
and strengthen us. Before we begin, here is a special
message for today. No matter where you find yourself in life,

whether in seasons of joy or struggle, God's light is
always present. His word is not just something to hear,
it's something to live today. Open your heart and let
truth transform you because in his radiance we find strength, hope,
and renewal. Get ready to step into the warmth of
his promises, the power of his presence, and the depth
of his love. Let's begin.

Hello and welcome. I'm doctor Troy. At great length talked
about how our brain gets twisted into knots and that
our brain, being of the flesh, so to speak, is
in a constant state of panic. Let's just be honest,

(01:18):
it's in a constant state of fear. It's hees everything
as threats. And I've talked about this at length. If
you've not recognized that. Just just watch your brain a
little bit. Question some of the thoughts that come into
your head. I do find those on occasion that are
just random silliness that have no bearing on anything. But

(01:39):
as it tries to hand me things it's concerned about.
It's always afraid of something. Oh, you should be cautious
about this. Ooh, watch out for that. It's it's amazing
that we don't see it sooner. I'm actually surprised that
I didn't see it sooner, And I don't know why

(01:59):
I should be surprised, because I was duped. Like everyone else,
you just get kind of sucked up in this whole
tide of thoughts that continue to happen since as far
back as we can remember in our lives even now.
Try to go back and remember when you're one of
your youngest thoughts, maybe even a thought when you were

(02:20):
the most most joyful, most happy. What is one of
your most fondest, beautiful, peaceful, happy thoughts times in your life.
It's almost hard to think of. But as I asked
the question, tell me some of the troubles and really
tough things in your life. They're probably like fifteen or
twenty pop into your head. When I think about my past,

(02:42):
I think about some of the things that were hard,
were difficult, and yet I had a great existence. When
I was little, I thought, my gosh, my childhood is awesome.
Yet when I go to try to think about one
of my most joyful times, huh. Interesting. It took a
little bit, and then as they began, they began to

(03:03):
become more and more, I thought, oh, okay, there they
all are, and it's interesting. It's interesting that it was like, huh,
that was actually kind of difficult. And so there is
a question that can be profoundly changing to how we
see everything. It can be excellently freeing. It is a

(03:23):
wonderful question to ask, and I'm not sure why I
didn't ever see it before, but it was pointed out
to me, so I hand it to you. I spend
my morning now asking the question what are you afraid of?
And it's amazing. I'll lay there and I'll answer out loud,
at least for a minute, two minutes, three minutes, sometimes longer.

(03:48):
I'm afraid of this, and out of it comes the
most profound things. Because as I admit to what I
am fearful of, or at least what my brain thinks.
It's fearful of I realize how comical, and then it
begins to be this thing of like, oh okay, well,
then I definitely don't want to listen to my brain

(04:10):
because it lives in a constant state of fear. I
think I'm going to be a lot more still, and
be a lot more led, and be at ease, be
at peace, and watch just what God does in each situation.
What would you have me know here? What would you
have me do in this situation? Not why, but what?

(04:34):
And then listen. Sometimes I'm effortlessly guided through things. Other
times it's almost audible. Other times it is and you
might think this guy's looney. I'm okay with that definition too.
But as we do this, we start to get a
very real sense of that beautiful internal intuition or the

(04:59):
voice God or some will call the Holy Spirit, that
there is guidance and it's always there, it's always speaking
to us if we'd only listen. I think it's also
I've done podcasts on this. I think it's comical that
we think we could make a voice that would drownd
out that real voice of the mind of Christ or
the mind of God or whatever you want to call it,

(05:22):
that mind that we are all one with there is
only one, and that we're all together, we're all intertwined,
none to be left behind, but everyone in their own
way and their own ability, doing what they need to
be doing. Sometimes they seem like they're playing not very nice,

(05:42):
and other times you have the gems out there that
are trying to do so much for everyone, the saints,
if we want to call them that, and everybody in between.
And so begin to ask yourself that question more frequently,
what are you afraid of? And I direct it directly

(06:03):
at the brain, what are you afraid of? And then
I hand it over. I don't want any of this.
I'm not interested in these things. You can keep, you
can keep all of them. I would rather have peace.
And I notice as I do that more frequently, my
mind is tremendously more at peace. When I go into

(06:25):
a bit of a meditation or a contemplative state where
I'm in a high state of listening, it's much easier,
and I can do it at the drop of a hat.
If something's bothering me, then I get to ask that
beautiful question. Ah, I see some things bothering you, what
are you afraid of? And then I answer, I don't
allow that I don't know question to come up very much.

(06:48):
Sometimes I am genuinely perplexed. I'm not real sure, but
I'll keep hunting this one down until I see what
its foundation is. What is it standing on. I don't
want that either. And it's interesting as I do this.
Some of the times when I find a foundation, it's like, wow,

(07:08):
I have never seen that before. I'm amazed. I marvel
at it, and then I'm even more at peace, even
more joyful. I have the ability to be even more
happy than I already am. Sometimes it amazes even me.

(07:31):
I hope this was helpful. I hope you look at
it and say, man, that sounds amazing. Whatever that dude's smoking, well,
it's for you too. But you may have covered up
with a lot of fears and a lot of mental
noise that you might need to work on a little
bit in the beginning, but you can and you can
get there actually quite fast if you want. It just

(07:53):
depends on how determined you are and how certain of
the decision, how firm of a decision you make towards peace.
If you have a really really firm decision on being
at peace and joyful. You won't allow anything that is
not those things to enter your brain, and so then
you'll want to tell every thought. Ah, I can recognize
you from a mile away. You're built on fear. No thanks,

(08:15):
I'm not interested, but asking each thought what it's afraid
of tends to quiet them quite a little bit, and
quite quickly, until finally you realize, my gosh, who knew
I could be this peaceful? Who knew I could hear
that voice, that guidance, that beautifully loving voice that sounds
a lot like mine, but I can tell it comes

(08:36):
from very deep within. It's where he's always been. Where
can I go that he is not? Asks the psalmist
David knew well enough there wasn't a place he could
go that God was not there right with him, And
