Speaker 1 (00:02):
You're now listening to Words of Radiance with doctor Troy Munson.
Hello and welcome. I'm doctor Troy. Had a deep conversation
with a friend today and we were chatting about desire
and of course some gosh, what do you even call them?

(00:22):
I hate to call them, something like schemes or something,
but these religious systems this still is not a great
way to put it, but ideologies or thought processes or
spiritual bents or you know, enlightenment, whatever you name it,
whatever you want, but there's these these ideologies of if

(00:48):
you let go of desire that you will pretty much
be at peace. And I thought, wow, we are fantasized
all the time. And I did a podcast not long
ago about fantasizing and we would typically say, okay, well
you're just fantasizing. And so one of my works where

(01:09):
I am right now in my growth process, or rather development.
Growth is a topic we'll talk about some other time,
but in my development this is kind of where I'm at. Basically,
every weird imagination that comes into my brain, I say, look,
you're fantasizing. Again. Stop, I don't want your fantasization. If

(01:33):
I want to make up that word, and so As
I began contemplating this more and more, I'm like, we are,
We're all fantasizing all the time. Why would somebody fantasize? Now,
we typically look at fantasizing as a negative connotation, like
you're having some perverse thought, and of course you're correct,

(01:55):
but it's always seen with something erotic. Well what is erotic?
Well we think it's sexual. But erotic is anything that
is arousal. And so then I'm like, wait a minute,
we're all looking for arousal. We're all wanting to be
aroused in some way. Now, some people to be angry
is an arousal. They don't think of it that way.

(02:18):
Some people to be very sad and apathetic is an arousal.
Some people to be steeped in grief and hysterically crying
is arousal. Some people, you know, whether they it really
is sexual that hey, I like to be aroused. And

(02:39):
with all of this, it all stems back from desire.
But nobody who's going to say with their brain, their
psychotic mind, or their irrational mind that oh, I really
want to be aroused in a sad way. I really
want to be aroused in a mad way, in a
hatred way, and a pride full way, oh, in a

(03:01):
sexual way, in a in a greedy way. We don't.
We don't come to that point, but with enough contemplation
we would. And so you know, you have a lot
of these, these teachers of spiritual development teach that just
be hugely inquisitive and contemplative. The contemplative mind is something

(03:24):
that has been around for a long time and has
been seen as a beautiful tool as getting to that
point of seeing. We just need to see it, and
if we can see it clearly, we begin that process
of realizing do I want to continue this thought or

(03:45):
do I want to let it go? Anybody who arises
or arrives at that particular thought process is well on
their way to a beautiful, light filled experience here on
this planet. And then we begin to let go of
even slight, slight mistruths. It seems so close to the truth,

(04:06):
but it's just not quite there. Something that I've always
played with on these podcasts seems like is the phrase
that seatbelts save lives. It seems true, but when you
look at it directly, you realize, wait, in a minute, no,
they really don't. Can it save injury? I suppose you

(04:26):
could argue it, but I highly doubt it. Then why
do we buckle up? Well, that's a podcast for another time. However,
when we begin to contemplate everything that our brain tries
to hand us, we begin to realize that, wait a minute,
most of the stuff you're handing me brain is complete
and other refuse. It belongs in a garbage heap. It

(04:48):
belongs somewhere far away from us. And so as we
begin to let go of thought, my major dominance practice
at this point is to tell every thought that comes
into my head I don't want your fantasy. I'm not
interested in fantasizing about that. I like to make things
very extreme to my own mind that it becomes more

(05:12):
obvious the next time a thought occurs. I'm not interested.
And so some of you out there thinking, what the
hell is he talking about? Now? What do you mean
let go of all of your brain's thoughts? What will
you do? You'll just sit there in a room and
do nothing. No, you won't. But I don't want to
tell you what you'll do. I would love for you

(05:32):
to experience what you will do without thought. Some of
you may find yourself sitting quietly in absolute peace, joy,
and love in delight beyond imagining, and others will be
doing things, but it won't come from your brain. You'll

(05:52):
realize the leadingness that is deep within you, that has
always been leading you, and then you'll struggle with other things.
But if that's true, then I felt all this guilt
and shame from all these things that I did for
all these years true, and you didn't need to. But
it doesn't mean that you go on harming people because

(06:13):
you realize the fact of everything, that everything is connected,
everything is life, everything is one. For me to quote
unquote harm another is only to harm myself because I
had to believe that we were all weak, and therefore

(06:34):
I had to harm myself first and then lash out
and harm another, thinking that when somebody else lost, I
would gain, And that cannot be true. Win win is
still the truth, and lose lose is the alternative. So

(06:55):
if you think you can take something from somebody else,
you will only along with them. But if you come
up against somebody like me, I'll realize that it's still
just gain no matter what you did. But most people
are not going to be as forgiving as that. Some
people are going to very much fight back bodily, physically, mentally,

(07:16):
they're not going to be very pleased with what you're
trying to accomplish. So if you're trying to learn spiritual
things so that you can receive more, you've got the
wrong idea. You are already in possession of everything you've
ever needed. I love churches that proclaim Christ, and that
is all we need. You already have it. Everything here

(07:39):
is simply a distraction. But when you go for the truth,
when you go for the Kingdom living, when you go
for Christ itself, everything else indeed will be added. I
hope this was clarifying. I hope it did muddy waters.
But if it did, please shoot me a line. I
would love to have a conversation. Until next time, I

(08:00):
am doctor Troy, and remember you have nothing to do,
only something to see. Thank you for listening to doctor
Munson's words of radiance. We hope you enjoyed our show.
